In relation to the native foraging post I commented on, the main suggestion I'm getting is to go to my public library which absolutely makes sense. And maybe it's because I'm lucky I'm in Oregon but I really do think the best resource here would be native tribal members. I'm surprised more people haven't suggested that, last year I worked for non profit that did monitoring for our corner of the world but we worked with the tribes to add on first foods monitoring. They did a whole spring monitoring season this year too which was really exciting and I can definitely reach out to my boss about that.
I'll be making posts about this on here about what I find from both resources though. I'll also be keeping a spreadsheet or some kind of documentation I can keep going with things I learn though. I know I'll find things on plants and mushrooms but I'm really going to Hunt for edible insect information. I really really want to focus on the sustainability, preparation, and amount you can eat of each too.
That's always bothered me about native forage books too. Yes you can eat dandelions but how much? It IS a diarrhetic so do I need extra water if I'm eating it? How much dried root do I add to a tea? Etc. I'm particular about it and need explicit instructions please rediscovering what I am SURE other people have found out is exhausting but bad gut issues also doesn't sound fun or possibly some medical issue with vitamin deficiencies or something too.
I also want to check out invasives in my area to eat too. We have all three species of edible birds (house sparrows, starlings, and rock pigeons). BUT do I need to catch and quarantine them and feed them? How do I know if they're safe to eat if they're city birds? Should I just catch a couple to breed and eat???? (Legal but they are unreleasable and must be banded I believe). Plus the Eurasian collared doves for an unlimited year round bag limit and they are also invasive.

My nayme is bird And wen it's Yule And Swedish snow Lies cold and cruel I look for seeds With many friends But food is scarce Where flock descends
But then we hear Of ancient rite We leave the trees We all take flight If fire not Its end promote? We do the deed. We eat the goat.

Asian Restaurants Just Down the Road Near Redding, CA
Tumblr media
Pho Saigon
If you’ve never tried Vietnamese food before, you are in for a treat! This exotic cuisine combines tropical flavors with tons of fresh herbs, meat, and seafood, delivering dishes that are not only delicious but healthy, too. Located at 236 Hartnell Avenue, Pho Saigon is the best Vietnamese spot in the area, as its diverse menu features all the classics from around the country.
CoCo Mongolian Grill and Sushi
Mongolian is certainly one of the least-known Asian cuisines. This landlocked country is mostly known for barbecued meats, and at CoCo Mongolian Grill and Sushi, diners have the option to build their own dish using meats, vegetables, and noodles from the BBQ. This massive joint is situated at 2705 Churn Creek Road, and it’s hard to miss it with its big glass windows and warm, inviting exterior.
Alongside the incredible Mongolian BBQ, CoCo also serves a mouth-watering selection of decadent sushi rolls. These range from basic salmon or tuna options to highly creative signature rolls that you won’t find anywhere else. As sushi is great for sharing, this makes CoCo an excellent choice for a business meeting, and, if you really want to impress at your meeting, make sure you drive here in a stylish car such as the new Chevrolet Camaro.
Taroko Asian Bar and Grill
If you can’t decide what to go for, then Taroko Asian Bar and Grill is an ideal choice. Located at 1701 Pine Street, this diverse spot covers cuisines from all over Asia, including Taiwanese, Korean, and Malaysian, so you’ll always be able to find something new and interesting to try. What’s more, there are also loads of options for vegetarians too, such as teriyaki tofu and tempura shishito peppers.
When it comes to Asian food, not many towns match Redding. The wide selection of exciting cuisines such as Vietnamese and Mongolian has put this town on the map, and people drive from all over the state to try some of these fantastic restaurants. If you plan to head to one of these spots this weekend, drop by and visit us at Lithia Chevrolet of Redding where we can fix up your car and get it ready for your drive.

2Chez had us all too full for words! so I have to blog: incredible Peoria dining experience, beautiful and cozy, intimate and quite romantic atmosphere, fantastic treatment and an ideal time even if this was the most expensive menu item! highly recommend making a reservation or go for the bar seating.

Imagine you live in pelican town. The new farmer has been here a couple weeks now and seems to be settling in, except... He's picking the weirdest friend choices. Like sure it's not weird to befriend the local fisherman, especially when he has an interest in fishing himself, but you're pretty sure you've seen him rooting through the Saloon's garbage with the local homeless man. As well, he keeps harassing the poor guy who works at Joja even though you KNOW he doesn't want to be friends with him.
And since you're on the topic of weirdness, isn't it odd he seemingly runs everywhere at a full sprint? Or just... Eats entire raw fish while fishing for "energy reasons"...
...
Despite all that, it's too early to call him off putting or anything... He has been engaging in town traditions, and he's started helping out with the old community centre. He's probably like the rest of you. Someone with a few quirks, that will fit in with the valley great!
Surely he can't get any weirder... Right?
