Perilla, 1027 Alpine St, Building E, Los Angeles (Chinatown), CA 90012
Tumblr media
Not your Korean grandma’s banchan…Perilla started as a pop-up and recently opened a brick & mortar on the edge of Chinatown. The banchan is made with seasonal ingredients sourced from a farmers market. The little side dishes are very fresh and they’re unique. They have some vegan options. The banchan are packed and stored in the fridge. You can pick and choose the ones you’d like.
You can also order rice bowls and lunch boxes that are cooked to order (e.g., dupbab and dosirak). The gimbap was already made though. Beverages, wine and beer are available.
Dosirak with doenjang (soybean paste) marinated cod, steamed white rice, and banchan ($20): So good, the perfect lunch box – just enough food, a variety of textures and flavors, all very fresh. There were two pieces of baked, boneless, marinated cod finished with a blowtorch. The cod was so tender! Delicious soybean marinade, not too strong or overpowering. The white rice was cooked well. The egg & seaweed roll was very tender. Broccolini and tofu was simple and crunchy. The cabbage was my least favorite (too plain). The radish in red pepper had the more traditional kimchi flavor. The radish was crunchy. The potato salad had bits of apple for crunch and not too much mayo.
Broccolini & broken tofu ($6): a lot of thin stems, a bit too salty, but high quality ingredients, broccolini still crunchy
Marinated okra ($8): okra was split down the middle and charred, still crunchy in texture with a tangy marinade of soy, vinegar, sugar, etc. A little slimy. Mr. Froyo really liked it (I don't like okra).
Mushroom seaweed salad ($8): my favorite, the maitake mushrooms were chewy, the dressing was spicy and tangy, there were a few tomatoes, onions, and a bit of seaweed
There is no seating inside but they have a large outdoor patio with cold water and utensils. The shop is hard to spot from the street. It’s behind Heavy Water Coffee Shop. Online ordering is available.
4.5 out of 5 stars

Recovery Confessions - Yoongi
Not edited, I’m sorry for mistakes!
——————————————
You stumbled out of the elevator and into the hallway, almost falling over from all the stuff you were carrying. A duffel bag was slung across your shoulder, an iced americano and iced caramel latte in a cup holder in one hand, way too much take out food consisting of different kinds of noodles and gimbap in a large brown bag in the other... how you made it this far without a disaster was beyond you.
Finally you made it to the end of the hall and set the food down before knocking on the black wooden door in front of you. After a few seconds it cracked open and your friend's face appeared on the other side.
"Aiiiishhh (y/n), what are you doing here?" he complained, furrowing his eyebrows and rolling his eyes, "I told you I'm fine!"
You pushed open the door further despite his struggles to keep it shut and then had a plain view of the living room. Dishes were all over the coffee table, snack bags littered the floor, and clothes were scattered all about the couch and chairs.
"Hmm, yeah, I can see that." you answered sarcastically, giving him an I-told-you-so look.
He protested again as you entered his apartment and set your stuff down.
"Seriously, (y/n), I'm fine. I'll clean all this later, okay? I don't need you here."
"Look, Yoongs, that may be the case and that's fine. I'll leave if you want me to! But I did buy way too much take out, so you have to at least help me eat it."
He looked at you annoyingly.
Then you held up his cup of coffee and shook it gently.
"And look! I brought you an iced Americano!"
His face immediately perked up as he reached for the drink.
He then took a long sip before mumbling,
"Fine, I'll eat with you."
You smiled proudly.
"Ha ha, I knew the Americano would do the trick ."
He rolled his eyes again but smiled.
You cleared a space on the coffee table, setting the dirty dishes on the counter in the adjoining kitchen. You would get to those later. Then you picked up the clothes that laid about the couch and tossed them toward the bedroom, making a mental note to start a load of laundry after eating.
You spread out all the food and grabbed chopsticks for the two of you as Yoongi sat down gently on the couch.
"So how are you feeling?" you asked, handing him his chopsticks, "How's your shoulder?"
You glanced at the black sling that held his arm and shoulder in place as it rested above a black sack. You couldn't help but feel a little sad.
He grabbed some cold noodles and stuffed them in his mouth before answering.
"It's fine. I haven't really had to use much of the pain medication so far."
You reached for a piece of beef gimbap.
"That's great! The less the better." you replied.
"Yeah, it's just hard to sleep sometimes. I get pretty uncomfortable. And I'm just so fucking bored already."
You couldn't help but chuckle a little.
"You? Bored? No way!" you teased sarcastically.
He glared at you.
"I can make you leave now, you know."
You moved your hands holding the chopsticks back and forth in protest.
"No, no, I'm sorry, that's the only joke, I swear."
You held a hand to your heart in promise as Yoongi shook his head.
There was a pause.
"So what have you been doing then?" you asked curiously.
He pointed to the tv which had an NBA basketball game playing.
"This."
"Watching basketball?"
He nodded, picking up a dumpling.
"And watching YouTube videos. I can't use the keyboard on my computer so I can't make music. I obviously can't play the guitar. I can barely put on pants for god's sake."
"Well," you said in between bites, "I know you don't want my help, Yoongs, but I'm here. So maybe I could at least entertain you a little."
It was his turn to chuckle.
"So you're saying you think you're entertaining?"
You narrowed your eyes at him.
"Hey now! You've been friends with me all these years so I must at least bring something to the table!"
He gestured to all the take out in front of you two.
"Uh yeah, free food."
You huffed, half a dumpling sticking out of your mouth.
"If you hadn't just had surgery, I'd hit you right about now."
He laughed.
"Hmm so I guess this surgery was at least good for some thing."
You cocked your head and smiled at him sympathetically.
"Come on, it will be worth it, Yoongi, you know that. Think how much better you'll feel on the stage when you're healed."
He just hummed in disbelief and shoveled more food in his mouth before turning his attention back to the basketball game.
After a little while you both had stopped eating, too full to continue on.
"I really should take a shower." Yoongi stated, rising carefully from his position on the couch.
"Okay," you replied, watching him walk towards the bathroom down the hall, "Let me know if you need anything."
He sighed.
"I told you, I'm fine," you heard him mumble.
You rolled your eyes. He could be so damn stubborn sometimes.
You took this as your chance to clean up. The stubborn man was going to be gone for at least a little while.
You put the lids on all the containers of your leftovers and took them into the kitchen to place in the refrigerator for Yoongi later. Then you collected all the wrappers and old take out containers and threw them in the trash. You gathered all the dirty dishes and washed them, laying them out neatly to dry, keeping them on the counter so Yoongi didn't have to reach for anything. Finally, you bunched up all the clothes laying around and put them in the washer, dirty or not. Nothing felt better when you were home all day than wearing clean clothes.
Just as you pushed the start button on the washer you heard a voice from down the hall.
"(y/n)!" Yoongi yelled, "(y/n), are you still here?"
You walked to the bathroom door and stood outside.
"Yeah, I'm here, Yoongi. Is everything okay?"
You heard him sigh.
"I can't... I'm having trouble..." he let out a groan followed by a pause.
"Yoongi?" you called, knocking softly.
"I need your help.." he said so quietly you had to put your ear to the door to make sure you heard him correctly.
You hesitated.
"O-okay, can I come in?"
"Um, yeah," he responded, "but don't look, okay? I'm... not fully dressed."
Your face got red immediately. In all your years of friendship you hadn't even seen Yoongi with his shirt off. You knew it was something he wasn't very comfortable with. However, that's not to say you hadn't been curious...
"Alright, I won't look. I'm coming in."
You turned the knob and opened the door, a wave of hot steam exiting around you. You entered, shielding your eyes with your hand to not look at him.
"What do you need help with?" you asked, just seeing his feet on the black tiled floor.
He sighed again.
"I can't get my pants or shirt on. I-I got my underwear on, thank god, but I'm having trouble with everything else."
"Well... how have you been doing it by yourself before?" you couldn't help but wonder out loud.
"Not well by any means, but it really started hurting after my shower this time. I think I may have moved it too much in there. I'm worried about hurting it more."
You nodded in understanding.
"Okay, of course I'll help. But Yoongi, I think... I'll have to look at you. I can't help you dress just by looking at your feet."
You assumed he nodded as he responded with a quiet Okay.
You looked up at him finally, his face bright red and his milky white skin blotchy from the hot shower. He was just in a pair of black boxer briefs that hugged his narrow hips and skinny thighs. You couldn't help but take him in a little. His stomach was in no means muscular, but rather just slightly squishy. His arms and shoulders were nicely toned, though, probably from all the dancing he usually does on a daily basis. His skin looked so smooth and was so bright in this lighting that he looked almost angelic.
But what caught you most by surprise was the area on his shoulder where his surgery had been. There was a large, red, stitched up scar across the blade, and purple and blue bruising covering the entirety of his right shoulder, upper back and upper arm. You wanted to cry the moment you saw it. He must be in so much pain.
"Yoongi..." you whispered, reaching towards it but not touching it.
"Looks brutal, right?" he chuckled softly, “they said it would probably look like this.”
Your eyes began to well up with tears before you could stop them. He noticed right away.
"Aiiiish, (y/n), don't cry, come on!" Yoongi exclaimed, "I'm fine, just help me put on my clothes."
You nodded and wiped the tears from your eyes before grabbing the plaid drawstring pajama pants from the floor next to him. You let him steady himself on you as he stepped into them, and you pulled them up, stopping at his waist and gently tying the strings, your fingers grazing the soft skin of his lower stomach. You noticed goosebumps appear on his skin at your touch, but you didn't dare make eye contact with him at this moment. This small act of helping him get dressed was way more intimate feeling than anything had ever been with him.
You reached over where the matching button up shirt was hanging and held it behind him so he could snake his arms in the sleeves, maneuvering it in a way where he didn't have to move his right arm much at all. Then you returned to his front and buttoned each button before straightening out the collar. Finally your eyes met, but Yoongi quickly looked down to the floor.
"Thanks.." he mumbled.
You cleared your throat and backed away from him.
"No problem. I'll -uh, see you back out there."
Then you turned and walked out of the bathroom, shutting the door behind you.
You felt a little dizzy as you headed back into the living room; out of breath and flustered. Your muscles had been tense without you even realizing it. You plopped back down on the couch and shifted your attention to the basketball game that was still playing on the tv, hoping to drown out the feelings and questions of what just happened back there from your racing mind.
A few minutes later Yoongi appeared in the living room again. His black hair was damp from the shower, the blotchy red still evident on his pale face.
He sat down at the other end of the couch from you. Did he feel as weird about what just happened as you did?
"I decided to take a dose of the pain medicine," he stated, curling his legs underneath him, "I'm not sure what I did differently in there but it really started to hurt."
You frowned. He looked so delicate.
"I'm sorry, Yoongi."
He rolled his eyes.
"It's fine, whatever. Just really fucking annoying. I have to live like this for at least 3 more months? How am I supposed to do that?"
You shrugged and looked at him sympathetically.
"You'll be okay. You're strong, Yoongi. And you did the right thing. Plus, I'm sure after a little while they'll let you participate in at least some promotional stuff with the band so you won't be just sitting around here."
He looked down at his hands and chewed his fingernail in anxiousness.
"And in the meantime," you continued, "whether you like it or not, I've decided I'm going to be here to help you. Because that's what friends do."
You gave a triumphant nod and fully expected him to argue with you at your conclusion, but instead he said nothing. He just looked defeated and it broke your heart.
There was a pause as you looked back up at the tv screen, wondering what you could do to cheer him up.
"You want to watch something else? Maybe a movie?" you asked, reaching for the remote on the coffee table.
"Yeah, sure, whatever." he mumbled in response.
You scrolled through the movies he had available before stopping at one and looking at him.
"Ooh, 'The Dark Knight'! I know it's one of both of our favorites. You want to watch that?"
He just nodded, staring at the ground in silence.
You could tell he was deep in thought, probably worried about his shoulder and his career. You suddenly felt selfish for wondering earlier if he had felt anything back when you helped him in the bathroom. That was probably the farthest thing from his mind at the moment. He had never focused on any of those kinds of feelings before, so why on earth would he now? You pushed the thoughts out of your mind and replaced them with ones that were important in the present.
"Do you need anything? Maybe a drink or a pillow from your bedroom?" you questioned.
He looked up at you finally as the movie began to play.
"Umm, maybe a pillow would be nice..."
You nodded and got up, walking into his room and coming back out, a comfy pillow in hand.
"Here you go."
He shifted his body down a little and laid on his back as you placed the pillow under his neck and head, his slinged arm laying at his side.
"I feel really drained..." he said softly, his eyes fluttering shut.
"Yeah, I imagine the medicine is already kicking in, and your body is tired from all the healing it's trying to do."
He just grumbled a response and let out a soft sigh.
You made yourself comfortable then turned back to the tv to let him fall asleep peacefully.
"If I fall asleep," Yoongi suddenly whispered, sounding half asleep already, "please don't leave me, (y/n)."
You smiled at him gently even though you knew he couldn't see. Things like this rarely came out of Yoongi's mouth but it always made you feel warm and fuzzy when they did.
"I'll be here, Yoongs. I promise."
About halfway through the movie you looked over at Yoongi sleeping soundly. His thin lips were partly opened, small snores emitting from his nose, some of his bangs falling in his eyes. You resisted the urge to move them away. Instead, you grabbed a blanket that was laying on the chair next to you and got up to spread it across his still body. He stirred slightly but instantly started snoring again. You couldn't help but smile.
You decided to go back into the kitchen to finish tidying up while he slept. But as soon as you stepped away from the couch where he lay, you felt a hand wrap gently around your wrist. It startled you and you looked back at Yoongi.
"Mmmmmnnooo..." he groaned softly, eyes still shut, "(y/n)..."
"It's okay, Yoongs, I'm still here. I'm just going into the kitchen. Go back to sleep."
You tried to release your hand from his grasp but he continued to hold on tightly.
"Nooo, (y/n), wait," he mumbled, still not looking at you.
You chuckled softly.
"What is it, Yoongi? Do you need something?"
"I just...you're so... such a good friend, (y/n)." he said, "I-I'm sorry I don't tell you enough. I'm not... good at that."
You smiled.
"It's okay, I understand. I just want to be there for you because, well, I know you would do the same in a heartbeat."
You weren't sure if he was even conscious enough to actually be comprehending what you were saying, or even what he was saying for that matter, but it felt nice to have this conversation.
There was a pause as you realized he was moving his hand down further, suddenly holding your hand in his. Your heart skipped a beat. Should you pull away?
"Yoongi, I-"
He interrupted before you could finish
"Do you ever think we could be more than friends?"
Your felt your heart stop. You looked at him, his eyes were still closed, he looked like he could fall back asleep at any moment.
"What?" you managed to whisper out.
"You're just so... caring and funny, and you're not afraid to challenge me and tease me and I like that. I just..I like you, (y/n)."
You swallowed, your heart racing, you breathing getting heavier. This didn't sound like Yoongi. This was drugged up, exhausted Yoongi. He didn't know what he was saying. He was imagining things. He didn't mean any of this.
But why did that make you feel so sad?
"Yoongi... you're-you're on drugs," you stuttered, finally pulling your hand away from his, "Your mind is a little loopy right now. I don't think you know what you're saying..."
"No, (y/n), fuck I know what I'm saying, okay? I-I do know what I'm saying. Do you?"
You ran a hand through your hair, unsure of what to say or do next. You weren't sure if he was serious. If he could barely open his eyes, how could he make such abrupt confessions?
"Well... maybe you should get more sleep. You seem out of it. Can we... talk about this later?"
He sighed and opened his tired and puffy eyes to look at you. He looked so small and so fragile in this state.
"You're rejecting me," he stated flatly, attempting to sit up more to show he was awake, "Shit... I shouldn't have said anything..."
You shook your head immediately and sat down in the small space next to him.
"No, no I'm not rejecting you," you reassured him, but you were still weary, "I just," you looked down at your fingers, "I just don't know how serious you are right now. You took some strong pain meds, and you're tired from your surgery... I don't want you saying things you... might regret later."
His free hand suddenly reached up to your face to tuck a piece of hair behind your ear and you leaned into his touch. He gave you a lazy smile.
"I would never regret saying those things to you. I mean all of it, (y/n), drugged up or not. How can I prove it to you?"
You bit your lip and shrugged in response, looking into his dark brown eyes. You noticed them glance down at your lips, then back at your eyes as his hand moved to the back of your head.
"Come here," he whispered softly, gently pulling your face closer towards his until your lips were just centimeters apart. He closed the gap between them in a tender kiss. You kissed him back, relishing the feeling of his soft lips on yours, something you had only ever imagined before.
Once you broke away he smiled, rubbing his thumb on your cheek.
"Does that help?" he asked.
You chuckled and fiddled with the collar of his shirt.
"You know, you should be soft Yoongi more often," you joked, grinning up at him, "I kind of like it."
He rolled his eyes and smiled wider, poking your chest gently with his finger.
"Hey, don't get used to it."
You laughed.
"Come on, I won't. I know you better than that."
He smirked at you and pulled you to him again as you shared another wonderful kiss.

Favourite meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner that are healthy and enjoyable?
For breakfast : usually an avocado wrap with sprouts, an egg, and a few drops of white truffle oil. I sometimes add tomatoes, salmon, or arugula.
For lunch : I don’t really eat lunch these days 🙈, I just don’t feel the need to because I don’t work out as much, so my body doesn’t demand many calories. I just snack on seaweed crisps and drink kombucha 💀😂😂. But, if I happen to go out with friends, or if im just particularly hungry that day, I’ll go for rice and a side of veggies+grilled meat. Or some sort of korean dish lol.
For dinner : It depends on what I crave, some of my favorite recipes for dinner are : coconut milk lentil curry, naans+butter chicken masala, gimbap, spring rolls, truffle steak+grilled veggies, shakshuka (even though its typically a breakfast meal lol).
I don’t really focus on diets, I eat intuitively and I make sure I get my nutrients. I eat fruits throughout the day, and drink plenty of liquids : herbal infusions, coconut water, kombucha, plain water, etc. I also take magnesium (in liquid form), fenugreek (a teaspoon in my ginger tea) , and ginger+turmeric (in my tea) daily as supplements.

What about first kiss with Wonwoo and poor baby is nervous because he really likes you
colour
Tumblr media
pairing : barista!wonwoo x reader word count : 1.6k warnings : none! like one curse word used in a positive context, i guess. music : ‘love like that’ by lauv a/n : a little bit of domestic life here with mr jeon ++ happy comeback day everyone!! i‘m enjoying the album so far i hope you did too!!
in your life, there weren’t many things that were vivid, dynamic.
everything was set with a clear outline. you graduated with a degree your parents had chosen for you. you settled down in an apartment downtown of seoul, got a job in a company your father had recommended for you. you lived your life from nine to five every day exactly how your parents had wanted you to live.
all of it was fine-tuned to your parents’ desires.
you were beyond grateful for all they have given you. but there was a lack of colour, of taste, in your life. your day-to-day activities ran mostly on a flat curve, all in monochrome and it made you shrivel up, almost resorting to ignorance.
and that was until you met wonwoo.
you labelled meeting him as a coincidence but later he labelled it as fate, to which you laughed in his face and said,
“there’s no such thing as fate.”
you met him at a small café that only took a five-minute walk from your apartment. you were the only customer when you arrived at half-past nine in the morning, making a dark-haired barista and a load of empty chairs and tables your only company.
you didn’t mind, though.
there were many things you were used to.
solitude was only one of the many.
that was until the dark-haired barista—whom you eventually found out was called wonwoo—began to strike up a conversation with you after he handed you an iced latte you’d ordered.
for the first time since high school, someone paid attention to you and took interest in you. it was extremely sad, now that you thought about it, but it was nothing short of a life-changing revelation.
it was so mundane, the small talk you had with him, but at least it brought some colour—feeling—into your life.
you visited the café more often after that.
you learned that he was a quiet one, one that kept to himself around others, often only murmuring under his breath and barely looking them in the eye when he served their drink by the little counter at the end.
you were the only one, well you hoped you were the only one, who could see his feline eyes light up with recognition once they landed on your face.
it was when you visited him one day after he closed up the café that you realised he actually owned the place.
he laughed, brushing away your awe and told you it had been a dream of his to open one since he was a teenager. his hands were tucked into the pockets of his jeans then, raven hair falling across his arched brow as he looked down at the ground, embarrassed.
an unknown feeling, something of a slight thrill, if not excitement, seized your entire being when he asked you, quietly, if you wanted to have dinner with him that night.
you had hints of this excitement over the past month you began to see him during your short run for coffee, in a rush for work or after work, when you made use of the wifi there and completed your work in your usual seat by the window.
just as the conversations between you and him became deeper, so did your friendship.
you two basked in the warmth of after-hours in the café, diving into topics like the childhoods you experienced in different regions of the country or things like the books you enjoyed reading or the food you liked eating.
it was simple. like cookie crumbs, the two of you unintentionally collected bit by bit about each other and became friends who knew every single one of each other’s secrets.
not long after, wonwoo started to take you to places in seoul you’d never been to, even if you had lived there your entire life. he introduced you to new people—his close circle of friends—and had unknowingly opened up your mind, your heart.
before you knew it, you were too engrossed by everything about him to back out from any social setting anymore.
his kind-hearted nature was irresistible to you. his sweet smile was like pure serotonin, the only drug you ever needed on a bad day. you found yourself needing to be around him more often than not.
you liked watching the crinkle of his nose when you told a bad joke and feeling the shy glances he threw your way on the days you decided to put in more effort into your appearance.
thanks to wonwoo, you had finally broken out of your shell but it wouldn’t be you if you didn’t feel some sense of self-doubt, especially when you were constantly surrounded by new friends night after night for drinks and dinner.
so you decided to ask him as you two sat by the ocean in busan.
“why me?”
“what do you mean?” his hair, tousled by the prevailing wind, blew across his forehead when he turned his head to meet your eyes.
the picnic you had was situated by the cliff, on a grassy plain behind the rocks where the view of the sea could still be seen. your recent convenient store purchases of gimbap and cup ramyeon and your favourite fizzy drinks were littered across the blanket, waiting to be consumed by two hungry adults.
it was his idea to take a train here for a weekend getaway, renting a car and even booking a hotel room.
whether he booked one or two, you didn’t ask.
“on the first day we met, why did you decide to talk to me? why even help me at all?” you sipped on your drink, the sweetness bringing about nostalgia from the past of when you were younger and had a sweeter tooth than now.
“to be honest,” wonwoo scratched the nape of his neck. “you reminded me a little of myself back in high school, so confined within the walls of your own mind.”
before you could defend yourself teasingly, he added,
“and you were beautiful, more than anyone i’d ever seen.”
with that you were left speechless.
“wonwoo, i—“
“i know everything between us right now is strictly platonic,” he began. “but you have to hear me out on this.”
you nodded.
“the thing is i-“ he averted his gaze from you to the blues of the waters below as he said, barely a whisper. “i like you.”
your lips parted, your blood rushing like rapids in your ears. “wonwoo.”
“i like you,” he said again, in case his words got lost in the wind.
you took a moment to digest it.
his deep voice, his tall frame, his broad shoulders. he was attractive, and hell of course you knew that. anyone with eyes would.
with wonwoo, however, it was beyond that.
your safe haven where you went to just let go, to be free, wasn’t a place.
it was by wonwoo’s side, quite literally.
throughout the many mental breakdowns you had over the course of your job, he was the first one who came to mind when you were in need of relief. to be frank, you probably knew wonwoo had your heart as soon as you laid eyes on him.
you loved him before you even knew it.
the crash of waves and seagulls squawking away into the open led you out of your reverie.
his eyes, squinted from the sunlight, was still aimed at you. his teeth nibbled on his bottom lip, his fingers fidgeting. it was a habit he had, especially when he was nervous.
there was something that snapped in you that you just thought, fuck it, leaned over to cup your hands under his jaw, and pulled him in. you didn’t touch his lips, yet.
you let your mouth linger by his for a moment, your eyes fluttering.
he took a sharp inhale between your lips, insinuating that his nerves had not calmed.
you simply laughed and pressed your lips on his. the impact made you fall into his embrace, your body falling atop of his clumsily. his lips were soft on yours, slowly stretching into a smile as if he’d just realised the girl he wanted was kissing him. his arms wound tight around your waist to tug you closer.
his sugary taste was addicting, the skillful tease of his tongue across your bottom lip flaring up foreign sensations deep within you. arms wrapping around his neck, you remained in this position for a hot minute, till you both ran out of breath.
pulling away for air, you held yourself up with hands against the blanket.
“i love you,” you whispered into his ear.
after hearing that wonwoo flipped you over. his face bore a surreal glow when he hovered over you, flashing his pearly whites at you. “i changed my mind.”
“how so?” you raised a brow, a smirk teasing your lips.
“i don’t like you,” he lowered himself down to whisper into your ear.
“you don’t?” you smiled even more, knowing exactly what he meant.
“yeah,” he nuzzled his nose into your neck. “i looooove you.”
“you corny prick,” your chuckle was vibrant, like the blue of the sky above. it reverberated, prominently, against his chest, a melody he never wanted to forget. your fingers threaded through his soft hair, savouring the feeling of his steady heartbeat against your own.
“says the one who kissed me without saying anything first,” he offered grin of his own as he rose back up.
“actions speak louder than words.”
“they do, don’t they?”
just like that, everything you wanted, colour, had bled into your life like the prettiest of paints.

Note
Thank you for your informative posts. You both always do so well. I'd love to hear your thoughts about BTS carsharing. I don't personally agree, but some fans think of it as "absolute proof" that their ship is real or much more closer compared to others.
Admin 1: I’ll go first since, once again, I have less to say about this topic. I’ve been ARMY for years and up until perhaps halfway through 2020 when I noticed shippers using the “driving together” argument as irrefutable proof and holding onto it like their lives depend on it, I never paid any attention at all to which member shared a car with whom. Yes, I do know about that time vmin arrived at the airport together with Yeontan and that was super adorable, but did I think that was proof of vmin being real? No. That thought didn’t even cross my mind. And it still doesn’t.
Those cars are their company cars, meaning the ones they take during work. Those are not their private cars which they take during their private time. If they were, then I’d be inclined to discuss if two members always sharing a car might mean something (though even then not necessarily romance wise), but as long as they are company cars with a company driver and at least one manager present inside taking them from schedule to schedule, often times who goes with who being decided by their security team based on surely a plethora of factors we know nothing about, I couldn’t care less who drives with who because, in my opinion, it doesn’t mean anything in connection to ships, true relationships and how close any of the members are with each other, or (even less about possible) romances within the group.
And yes, I would say the same thing if vmin would always drive together. Or if namjin would.
My counter question, actually, would be if the same people who argue that “this proves my ship is real because they always drive together” would think the same thing if instead vmin always drove together? Or do these rules, as always, only apply to their ship exclusively? It wouldn’t be the first time their hypocrisy and double standards would be glaringly obvious within such arguments, which is why I find them rather pointless.
Admin 2: I’ll admit that I look around different sns since I like knowing things, not only about BTS but in general, even politics. I’ll also admit that I sometimes do what a true fan shouldn’t do and watch things from sources (never, ever sasa/engs) we shouldn’t pay attention to on YT (even though Admin 1 tells me I shouldn’t do it). Based on that I’ve noticed how oftentimes the maknaes will leave a building or place and be directed by their security team where they should go, instead of them deciding that they will share cars because of their own ideas or friendships. It seems like it oftentimes simply isn’t their choice to make, but their managers and security team.
In previous years when we usually only saw them arrive at airports and award shows, the constellations of who drove with who were much different than they are now that BTS are “stuck” in Korea due to the pandemic. Often JK arrived at the airport with Hobi (or any of the other hyungs), while Jimin and Tae came together. Not always, since Jimin sometimes arrived with Namjoon, but often enough, and they’d sometimes even arrive late.
My opinion is that JK and Jimin nowadays drive together simply on the sole basis that they work closely together, they are the lead and main vocals after all and share dance parts with each other as well, and if people want to describe it as “them being closest together” then yes, I agree, but only when it comes to their work. Which is also why they drive a car together from schedule to schedule.
Let’s remember their pas de deux for Black Swan at MMA (which was magnificent). It’s the best kind of example for why they share a car since they simply have similar schedules. Just learning that pas de deux to be able to dance it so gracefully and beautifully on water no less, takes an enormous amount of time and practice.
Even from a more safety angle, it’s safer for those two to be in one car. Compared to the hyung line, the maknaes are far more “under threat” due to the sheer obsession some people have when it comes to these three and when obsession is involved, people can be unpredictable. By putting at least two out of three maknaes into the same car, their security team has it easier to keep a close eye on them and keep them safe.
Also seeing as Tae has been working on his mixtape for the better part of 2020, it makes complete sense that his schedule would be a little different than the others and by taking a car on his own, it gave him the flexibility of going to the BH building whenever he wanted to between other schedules and get in time for working on music without dragging along another member who’d want to do something else in that time, or have other obligations to attend to.
Often we see Jin and Yoongi in a car, or Yoongi and Hobi, and Namjoon being on his own or with Hobi, and none of that seems to be influenced by their personal bonds and relationships either, but rather their work related obligations and schedules.
We should keep in mind that BH isn’t a romance agency, but a company for idols, music and business, so BH doesn’t in that moment care about their personal feelings for each other, but simply goes by more business and schedule related reasonings. The only time in which I could believe that BH also follows some kind of agenda (and this is only my opinion, not fact) is when the members appear at some kind of event or place where they know people will see them exit their cars.
We don’t know anything about how any of the car sharing looks like on a daily basis, what their schedules are like, or even if the company cars pick them up at home or if the members meet up at the BH building and go from there. We simply don’t know. The only thing that is certain is that if they arrive at an award show already dressed accordingly, it’s only reasonable that they went from and will return to the agency to change back into their own clothes before going home.
JK likes driving his car, we know as much, so who’s to say that he doesn’t arrive at BH building in the morning leaving his car parked in the underground car park. Or if Yoongi or Jin or Hobi do the same thing. We also know that sometimes Namjoon used to take his bicycle to the BH building, or a time when Seokjin said he did the same and halfway there passed someone who greeted him though in the moment he had no idea who it was and later it turned out it was Yoongi on his bicycle returning from the BH building. As vminnies we should remember what Jimin said, that due to their differences in schedules Jimin and Tae weren’t even able to record any of Friends together, which is why they left those messages in the blank moment of the song behind for each other. Remember that vlive that Jimin and JK did making gimbap? On a weekend? Tae said he was at the BH building since the morning working on his music, which again shows how different their schedules on a day to day basis are.
When it comes to the “popular” opinion that’s being spread across all sns about “two members driving together must mean they are super close/are a couple”, I disagree with that. Sometimes when I look at those comments and the things they are implying, I actually kind of feel a little sorry for JK. It seems like those who push their agendas involving him don’t “allow” him any private life with his own thoughts and wants, but merely see him as this pawn that’s supposed to act just the way they want him to and as attachment for one or the other ship. They don’t “allow” him any time for himself, any time to recover and relax after a day of hard work, but just see him as part of their ship that always has to be together, that’s basically fused together at the hip and sees no other reason for anything they do other than being together (some even claiming that they do naughty things in the company cars on top of everything else). It’s almost like some don’t see him as his own person, which just is plain wrong.
Why doesn’t the same also apply to Jin and Yoongi, who oftentimes also share a car? Why do people accept and see it as obvious that Yoongi also needs some time on his own or to spend it with different members doing different things, or just being in his studio doing something for hours without anyone around? Why do people respect that and not immediately conclude that he’s “moved away” emotionally from the group like they so often imply with a certain maknae?
One observation I’d like to share, which shows that sharing a car doesn’t have to mean anything at all, would be the time after Bang Bang Con. The members left the building one after the other, and sure, JK and Jimin went together, after JK was directed toward the car Jimin was in by their security staff, but the interesting part is this: Jimin was the only member that left the building without a bag or purse or anything. Meanwhile Tae left with two, one of them looking like his own and the other like a bag that clearly belonged to Jimin. Both bags left with him. Or the time when they had their KBS interview where they arrived in one constellation yet left in a different one where Tae, Jimin, JK and Hobi shared a van even though they hadn’t done so upon arrival.
Both these instances, and many others, show us that their car sharing arrangements simply don’t mean a thing, in my opinion.
If you’ve ever worked in a team or been part of a sport team or even a dance team, you know that you develop an entirely different level of closeness, especially as dancers where physical closeness is oftentimes key to certain choreographies and poses. But this closeness in conjunction to work is something entirely different from the type of closeness a couple has and can’t even be compared to it. Just look at figure skating pairs where the guys lift the girls into crazy poses while holding them by their butts or thighs and they have no issue with such closeness, which you might assume could mean they are also actual couples, but the thing is that most pair skaters are not. Most of them have other partners or marriages because that closeness to a romantic partner is entirely different from your skating partner, even if they are your closest friend.
Vmin don’t share cars, and yet at the end of the day Tae still texts Jimin that he’s too lazy to move and that instead Jimin should come sleep next to him.

Peter Parker x Korean!Reader
Tumblr media
Masterlist for Peter Parker
Whenever Peter comes over for dinner there’s one question he always makes sure to ask.
“Is that spicy?”
According to Peter even the stuff that doesn’t look spicy is spicy
But to you, it just tastes like food
Peter ends up eating a lot of plain rice, ox bone soup, mild kimchi, and lots of milk at your house
Going to the Korean church on weekends and your parents making you join the youth group because they think you need more Korean friends
Peter helping you sneak off from the group to eating Jjajangmyeon in the food court inside of H Mart
Peter almost choking because the noodles are so long
Recreating the famous spaghetti scene from Lady and the Tramp
Stopping then you see the elderly Korean couple next to you giving the two of you dirty looks
Walking around H-Mart with Peter
Peter filling a whole basket of Korean things he wants to try
Several boxes of Pepero
Honey Butter Chips
Dried Squid
Banana milk
Various bags of ramyeon
“This is going to make a great video for my Youtube channel.”
“Peter, I didn’t know you were a Youtuber.”
“I mean it would, you know if I had one.”
“I think you would be a great mukbang host”
You explaining to Peter what mukbang is, much to his confusion
“Wait so people will watch that?”
The next week you see a video called “Spider-Man Mukbang - Korean Snacks” trending on Youtube
The thumbnail is Spider-Man with his mask rolled up, dangling noodles over his mouth
Giving Aunt May skin care your mom brought back from her last trip to Korea
Putting sheet masks on Peter when he falls asleep in your presence
You giggle and take photos of him wearing the animal-themed ones
When he wakes up his skin is glowing and you show him some of the photos you took
“Y/N, do you think they have the Spider-Man ones?”
Going out to get bingsoo with Peter
“Do you think this is what snow tastes like?”
Bringing homemade gimbap for lunch and sharing with Peter and Ned
Peter thinks it’s so cool how all the different fillings and textures come together to make a perfect bite
Peter helping you carry the boxes of napa cabbage and radishes from the grocery store to your apartment for kimjang or kimchi season in the fall when you help your mom make tons of kimchi
Bringing a jar for Peter and Aunt May when the kimchi is ready
At first, Peter doesn’t really know what to do with a whole jar of it
But it doesn’t take long for him to realize that it makes everything taste better
He stuffs it in his quesadillas and puts it in his avocado sandwich
Peter watching Korean dramas with you and you let him tease you about the tropes that the shows always rely on
“Y/N, you can’t tell me you didn’t know, she was bound to have an evil stepmother”
“Why am I not surprised she chose the mysterious bad boy over her childhood best friend?”
“Korea must have a ton of hospitals and great health care if everyone is always getting terminally ill and hit by cars.”
Running a tumblr devoted to K Pop idols
Peter getting slightly jealous but also kind of proud that you’re willing to share your interests with him
"Why are they called idols? Did they win like the Korean version of American Idol or something?"
Going to Korean barbeque with Peter and his friends
Peter almost sets his sleeve on fire
Ned flinching when the fat from the pork belly drips onto the flame and the fire flares up
From then on you’re in charge of the grill
The boys' eyes lit up when you tell them that banchan are unlimited
You were worried the restaurant would run out of bean sprouts
Peter loves your culture and he can’t wait to visit South Korea with you one day

Shout-out to the very nice lady who asked me how I was going to be using the gim I purchased so she could make sure I realized it wasn't roasted. She somehow combined the energies of "omg white girl wtf are you doing this is an actual ingredient 😂" and "look at you getting something other than soy sauce and Pocky good job 🥰." I kinda felt like a silly pet that's learning new tricks but also needs to be untangled a lot. It was nice.

Top 7 Cheap Restaurants To Keep Cash In Your Pocket
You are on a budget and wanna eat cheap? Where in Seoul can you go to have a delicious meal and not empty out your coffers? Actually there is a few options out there to consider. Once you know where to look then it will become a habit. Rather than eat like a tourist and pay over the top for the same food a local would pay a thousand won for. So let me introduce you to a few options out there, especially in Seoul that offers low priced tasty meals that feel like you are getting value for money.
Hansot Doshirak:
Hands downs, the best takeout place for lunchboxes in Seoul. Affordable, cheap and delicious and open till late at night. Prices ranges from 2,000won to 10,000won. You can get meat, rice and vegetables with salads available too. There is over 50 lunch boxes on over. So you might end up battling with yourself about what to eat. The service is good and fast, Most meals are prepared fast and usually come out of the kitchen within 5 minutes. Also there is instant soups ( to prepare at home) and cold beverages are on sale too. They have a huge menu available too.
This is definitely the most casual food I’ve had in Korea. Whilst we were eating several people came in and got take out. It’s like student food meets airplane food, and I really enjoyed it. If you’re on a bit of a budget then it’s actually kind of perfect.
Pomato:
This chain is a solid place for cheap eats. The restaurants are clean with neatly arranged furniture and the food is pretty decent with affordable prices. The best part is that is never closes!
Not everything on their menu is extremely cheap, but their menu is extensive and won’t burn a hole in your pocket. Their is a variety of kimbab , Katsu, Omelettes, stir fries, Chinese food, stews, and noodle and rice dishes on the menu. There is also English translations to make ordering easier!
They have a small assortment of side dishes, varies with restaurant and day including soup, kimchi, radish, and boiled eggs for instance which is all self-serve (meaning you get it).
Chicken Mayo and Jajangmyeon are in particular delicious for me. The Chicken Mayo is just 4,000 won is a whole chicken katsu, mixed with a bunch of scrambled egg strings in rice topped with seaweed. They also give you mayo and katsu sauce, to which you then pour the 2 sauces over the dish and mix it all up and then eat it up. Scrumptious!
Kimgane:
Kimgane is a casual cheap eat franchise that sells gimbab, noodles and rice. They have a lady at the front of the restaurant making fresh kimbap which looks like sushi. Everything is good value and inexpensive. Table water, cutlery, tissue and kimchi is all self-serve. I really liked the kimchi here as it was crunchy and wonderfully flavoured with the right amount of spice. The staff are friendly and service is very prompt and efficient. Don’t expect superior service here as it is a casual restaurant that offers authentic Korean meals at very affordable prices.
The way this place makes kimbap, makes eating kimbap very tasty. There is a clean refreshing taste to it. Make sure to order some kimbap with your main dish.
Charles Sutbul Gimbap:
Stepping foot into any Charles Gimbap and you might feel like you walked into a BBQ joint. The aroma of its most popular dish, Sutbul Gimbap is the culprit. It is a gimbap roll with soy sauce marinated grilled pork.
The reason I recommend this franchise is that while its cheap, its portion can be quite generous I think. This place is popular with the younger crowd. Since the kimbap is quite huge, expect a struggle to get it to your mouth with the chopsticks. And chewing and swallowing is a feat only master kimbap eaters can do.
There is plenty of variety on hand so make sure to give your taste buds a bit of a workout.
Supermarket:
The reason I recommend the supermarket is the cheap food on hand. Supermarkets in Korea have surprisingly good sushi for one. Also there is food samples scattered over the supermarket for customers to taste. Samples include pasta, fruits, yogurts and even meat. If you are the civil type then one piece maybe two is ok. But if you are one of those who doesn’t worry about what others are thinking of you. Then, you can keep eating it. Beer is cheap too here obviously. Look out for the german beers if available. Nice bitter taste to it.
Bapburger:
Bon Gouuse Bap Burger is a popular Korean style fast food joint known for the very cheap and tasty cheap rice burgers it has own its menu. The rice burger is basically rice with some ingredients stuffed in the middle of it. In this case rice is used as the bun for the burger. It’s a quick snack for teenagers and students especially and you can even have instant ramyeon as a side dish if you wish. It is a franchise so finding it throughout Korea shouldn’t be hard. You can find some branches near Hongdae, Sinchon, SNU for example.
Prices range from 1,500won – 3,500won and there is a huge selection on offer. From spicy to plain. If you want something safe then I recommend the chicken mayo bap burger.
Pizza School:
Maybe one of the world’s most recognizable and beloved meals is pizza. In Korea, Pizza is loved as much as any other country and therefore there is a handful of places to get your cravings sorted. If you need a quick, cheap fix then pizza school is your only option.
With a good range of pizza on offer starting from 5,000won and rise up to 12,000won for the more fancy pizza. Now why would you want this pizza? Well yes its cheap for one whole pizza. Its greasy and feels like junk food, so its like a weight is lifted off you when you are scoffing down this pizza.

Comfort Food
Korean Seaweed Rice
Some might think of gimbap or kimbap (pronounced "keem-bahp") simply as Korean sushi, but it really stands on its own. Wrapped inside layers of roasted seaweed (gim) and steamed rice (bap), the versatile fillings are often cooked and individually seasoned. While sushi rice is always vinegared, the rice for kimbap may be plain or seasoned with any combination of rice vinegar, sesame oil, sesame seeds, sugar, and salt. (The recipe below is based on my mother-in-law's method.) Finally, unlike sushi, kimbap is usually eaten without any soy sauce, wasabi, or ginger. This makes it a perfect finger food whether you're at home or on the go.
Tumblr media
Ingredients
1.4 cups cooked short grain rice.
2.2 eggs.
3.4 long carrot strips cut lengthwise in 1/3-inch x 1/3-inch.
4.4 long pickled Damion radish strips cut lengthwise in 1/3-inch x 1/3-inch.
5.4 long imitation crab meat strips cut lengthwise in 1/3-inch x 1/3-inch.
6.1 cup blanched spinach.
7.1 tablespoon sesame oil.
8. pinch of salt.
9. 1 cup chopped Korean style bbq beef
10. 4 nori sheets
Beat 2 eggs and cook the eggs in a nonstick pan coated with cooking spray.  Cook the eggs until they are gently cooked all the way through.  Cut the eggs in 1/2-inch strips. Cook the carrots in salted water for 3-4 minutes until firm.Cook the spinach for 2 minutes in boiling water.  Carefully squeeze the water out of the hot spinach.  Season th spinach with 1/2 tablespoon sesame oil and a pinch of salt.To assemble the rolls, place a cup of rice on top of a piece of nori.  Spoon the rice edge to edge except for the top edge.Edge should be at least 1-2 inches unfilled.Carefully place the filling in the center of each roll.Roll the kimbap using a bamboo mat, making sure to push down and pull-back every time you roll a little.Cut the roll into 1 inch pieces.Serve.
Comfort Food
My Comfort food for this project is Korean Kimbap. A vegetable with tiny meats on and the outside with rice and dry seaweed. I love this food ever since when I was a kid. I had a pretty dark history in the past and I needed some things to cheer me up before I go crazy an insane about death and insanity. Even though I was still a baby, I was able to eat regular food that isn’t baby food. The first food she gave me was a Korean food called Kimbap. It had 2 of my favorite foods that I always eat when I was young and I still eat it. The only difference was the tiny meat or ham, and the rest is veggies. Every weekend she make this dish, most Saturday because I love that day. It the best day to relax and have fun with friends or myself. She always clean the vegetables until she knows that the vegetables are clean. Then she cooks the rice until it not too liquid or too dry. Then she cuts the veggies and makes them into a line after she puts the rice on top of the seaweed, she then lines them, and rolls it all together until it completely cylinder. Usually she makes 3 roll or 5 rolls, depending how hungry I was. Every time make Kimbap, I always eat it all. One part I hate is this yellow veggie. I don't know the name but I don’t like eating it because it’s too sweet or sour. Kimbap is one the things that made me not a dead kid when I was young because I did had a dark time. She did this in order to put me into the light and free me from my horror early life. With her love it was enough to make me happy and I attend to return the favor to my grandma for all her hard work for raising me ever since I was young. I consider her to be my true mother to my life and heart. I do have favorite foods tastier than Kimbap, but this food is the one that freed me from the darkness.

Typically, when nouns are stated as is, it is not considered polite. However, in order to express respect towards the listener, one can attach -요 (-yo) as a politeness particle Nouns Q:그거는 뭐예요? (geugeo-neun mwo-yeyo?) - What is that? A1:가방 (gabang) - bag A2:가방요 (gabangyo) - bag (standard polite) Q:뭐를 먹어요? (mwo-reul meogeoyo?) - What are you eating? A1: 김밥 (gimbap) - gimbap A2: 김밥요. honorific
Present tense: verb stem + -시-  + -아/어/여요 Past tense: verb stem + -시- +  았/었/였어요 Future tense: verb stem + -시- + -ㄹ 거예요 ** When the verb stem ends with a consonant, you need to add 으 [eu] in front of 시 to make the pronunciation easier.
2. 웃다 [ut-da] = to laugh, to smile Present tense [plain] 웃 + -어요 = 웃어요 [u-seo-yo] [honorific] 웃 + -으시- + -어요 = 웃으셔요 [u-seo-syeo-yo] Past tense [plain] 웃 + -었- + -어요 = 웃었어요 [u-seo-sseo-yo] [honorific] 웃 + -으시- + -었- + -어요 = 웃으셨어요 [u-seu-syeo-sseo-yo] Future tense [plain] 웃 + -을 거예요 = 웃을 거예요 [u-seul geo-ye-yo] [honorific] 웃 + -으시- + -ㄹ 거예요 = 웃으실 거예요 [u-seu-sil geo-ye-yo]
In honorific sentences, the subject markers change to 께서 [kke-seo]. You can only use 께서 after subjects that you are being honorific to, showing respect toward and lowering yourself against. For example, the word 선생님 is already in the honorific form because it has the word “님” but in casual situations you can use 이 or 가 as subject markers. But other words need to change forms when they are used in honorific sentences.
