Daughter of Phantom, Lady Gotham.
I love Lady Gotham stuff in the DCxDP stories, like a lot, so what if, hear me out (Long post is long, I rambled again)
Lady Gotham is Danny's daughter.
How? How about Danny is hurt (his parents? GIW? Vlad?), like badly, to the point even his core is damaged and the time needed to heal would take years, like a lot of years. Like it was bad that even his Rogues were shocked and shaken. They eventually get him to the Realms but are unsure what to do next. So they're scrambling trying to figure out how to save him.
So when CW appeared he asked to handed the Core because he knows what to do, where to hide him so he can heal they don't question it, everyone in the Realms know CW, the Ancient of Time itself, has a soft spot for Phantom. He opens a portal to a different world, not Danny's he can't run the risk of GIW finding him, to a just beginning world, the new world will help speed up his healing, and with Frostbite's help they set up a healing chamber deep, deep in the ground. Once they made sure everything is set up and safe, they place his core inside the healing pod and return every so often to check on him.
Over time though, above on the surface of that world it's timeline starts. Animals, creatures, humans, aliens, magic users, etc etc begin and with it, because even as a half healing core, Danny's power and ectoplasm starts effecting the area he's resting in (Ghost King Danny? Young/New Ancient/Eldritch Being? Or just an OP Danny?) (Clockwork and even Frostbite showing up every so often doesn't help either, it explains why Gotham is so cold sometimes or why time seems... off)
Anyways due to Danny's power (along with bits of Clockwork and Frostbite), magic of this world, and people beginning to build a small town on top of the land it gives birth to the namesake of the town.
GOTHAM.
CW foresaw her 'birth' and finds her sitting in front of Danny's healing pod. He always knew Gotham would eventually form, the belief/love her people have in her would had given her a form eventually he just wasn't expecting her to form so soon (this is why Danny remains his favorite person, he always did something CW never really see's to often) nor was he expecting her to become Danny's daughter. Gotham looks a bit like Danny, dark hair, blue eyes, pointed ears, sharp teeth, glowing star like freckles, but she also reflects her people, the ones that call Gotham home so her image shifts sometimes. But he can see small hints of maybe himself and Frostbite in the shifts.
She is 100% Danny's daughter via spirit/ectoplasm. If anything CW and Frostbite are like many times removed family members when it comes down to ectoplasm.
She's silent for a moment before she asks if "You and the other come here often to see him... The one sleeping is he my father?" Which CW does confirm, he explains why Danny is healing and who he and Frostbite are and why they show up to make sure he is doing better. How his healing will take many, many years. She goes silent again before saying "Teach me how to protect him. I am new and young compared to others... and yet I already know if anyone desires him for the power he gives, they will stop at nothing. He is my father and I am his daughter, I need to keep him safe just how I know he would keep me safe. This much I know."
CW agrees.
She learns, from her father's allies (CW, Frostbite, Pandora, etc etc) how to defend and fight. How to protect what she loves. She watches over her father and fights off demon's, monsters, sometimes an alien that senses the slumbering power, evil magic users. Etc. She watches over the town and people who named her as well, falls in love with the humans who call her home as well and defends them as well.
She even gets the blunt force of a curse a powerful old entity that tired to place it on her father after she had just banished it from her lands. It's an old powerful curse that CW or Frostbite can't rid of because it would weaken her far to much that they run the risk of her fading, the only way to get rid of it is if she had a family member feeding her ectoplasim to help sustain her. (Her aunts can't because Jazz isn't ghostly enough and Danielle can't because hers is limited due to being a clone (like she has enough for herself but does need to visit the Infinite Realms during her travels to get more ectoplasim to filter in and out). Danny is their only chance because he's constantly filtering ectoplasim in and out and even creating it because of how he died with a portal opening up at the same time)
The curse slowly starts eating away at Gotham, makes it hard for her to have a solid corporeal form because pain (when she has to use this form to fight off others she has to bare through the pain), her appearance starts changing (eyes turn from sharp ice blue to glowing yellow, skin turns deathly sickly pale, her star freckles slowly blinking in and out, hands become inked claws, her dark hair is unkempt and spills like an oil sludge down her body and face) and because Danny is still healing himself he can't help her and she can't see him all too often anymore because she doesn't want to run the risk of the curse effecting his healing core, she does get updates from the other ghosts that visit him and then her. She still defends him though, outside of his healing chambers should on the rare chance something finds it way down to him.
Eventually due to Danny's and Gotham's natural ectoplasim filtering on the lands, visiting and powerful ghosts, Gotham fighting off powerful beings trying to use her father for power, and the curse on Gotham herself, the town that had been built on the ground above by humans becomes the very city we all know.
Its a whole mixed bag do to so many factors, that's why Gotham is the way it is.
Gotham does her best to keep her people safe from well... everything but due to the curse and the fighting off another person/entity/demon/magic user/etc coming for her father's power, she can't always do much by the time one crisis is over and a new one pops up, she's slowly breaking down the longer it takes.
That's why she has a soft spot for her Dark Knight and his family and allies, they help her from the pain from the curse by trying as both the Wayne's and as the Batclan to fix up her city self, its not enough to really fix her fully but it helps with the pain that eats at her.
She does her best to give them tiny blessings though, but due to her duty of protecting her father she can't always do much (she wept when news of Jason, her second Robin, her rough around the edges bookworm, had died came to her. She couldn't protect him because he was out of her reach. Its why when Joker returned she made it very hard for him to really gain his foothold in her again but had to stop because CW told her if she kept making it too hard for the clown he'd go running off to 'play' with a different hero and that... that timeline would lead the world to ruin. She begrudgingly stopped but when Joker had taken her third Robin, her tiny Tim the one she loved watching shadow her knights, she did everything she could to keep him sane from the pain he had been put in, and lead Batman to the warehouse to save him. Also it turns out her heartbreak over Jason's death, her curse acting up, and her ectoplasim sparking off at the same time it helped bring him back from his grave not fully but somewhat, she was so shocked that she didn't have time to send hints to Bruce to get him when he was taken by Talia and once again out of her reach. She tried hinting it to Bruce that Talia had taken him but by the time he would check on the League, Talia would had moved him)
Gotham, depsite being young in the eyes of many other powerful beings and entities has held her own and kept those that wanted to use her father for power packing. Despite being cursed that is slowly eating her alive she still holds onto the hope her father will awaken and she will finally get to meet him. (She hopes she made him proud, he is a protector spirit core after all and she had been steadfast with keeping him safe all these years).
Things however take a turn for the worse when Gotham awakens from some sort of powerful slumber (she doesn't know what happened?! Did something knock her out?! When did she fall asleep?! Was it magic? Did the curse do it? Did someone or something-) And discovers someone or something had managed to steal her father slumbering core. (So close to healing, so close to awakening according to Frostbite, just a few more days he says. Just. A. Few. More. Days)
She tries to go find him but is suddenly hurting more, her curse has progressed even worse, she can barely stand, let alone fight whoever had her father. And she knows her father's friends won't be back to see her until far later.
And then all of Gotham shakes and shudders when her rage, panic, and terror are felt that early morning.
-×-×-
Deep in the Batcave, Batman and the others are searching for whatever caused that strange almost magical but not (ectoplasm) shudder that morning.
They were expecting a full scale attack. Magical, alien, maybe even all the Rogues in Gotham working together. An all scaled war. They were looking for any signs of it, maybe to by some miracle stop it before it becomes to late.
They however weren't expecting a strange sick looking woman with yellow glowing eyes, oil ink like hair covering her face and body, clawed hands like they had dipped in ink as well, star like freckles blinking in and out on her body and face, sharp ears, breathing heavily and coughing every so often to appear in the cave. Like she had sunk out from the shadows in pure silence. (Even Cass did not hear her)
Nor were they expecting her not to even flinch when they trained their weapons onto her. Instead all she did was laugh, a raspy low laugh, but it held warmth and mirth.
"Now, now my knights... No need for that. I come needing help and you are the only ones I will ever trust with this mission..." her voice was soft but harsh, talking seemed to hurt her though for she had to take deep breaths and suppress a cough. Her eyes trailed across them all, despite her sickly look her eyes gleamed with a motherly warmth in a strange sense, something all of them could feel "I can not hold this corporal form for long. Long story short I am cursed, have been for a very long time and whatever happened to me earlier this morning has aggravated it even more and thus I can not stay in the world of the 'living' to do much. My father, the one I have been protecting since my creation from all sorts of terrible and dangerous things, for should they get a hold of him it could spell the end of life itself for he is that powerful, has been taken from his healing chamber. I do not know who or where but I know he still remains in the city, that much I can sense."
She coughed and took a shuddering breath "But alas I can not go to his aid as I once has been able to, this is where you all come in. I need you to find my father, find his core. Bring him to safety. I had fought so many to keep him safe, to make sure he heals in peace for so long, and he... So close. Just a few more days he needed... then I could had finally had met him."
She lightly muttered those last few words, eyes looking lost for a moment before coughing hard.
"Who are you." Batman, Bruce Wayne, stonely demanded but for some reason he couldn't help but feel like he knows her, like from a foggy memory, and by the looks of his family they all could sense the same thing.
The woman, or whatever she was, merely smiled, sharp teeth bared in it as she looked him right in the eyes and said.
"Gotham, my dear Dark Knight. I am Lady Gotham herself. Its wonderful to finally meet you despite the circumstances."

What I truly love most about the DC universe is how stupidly large it is. There are so many different Earths and timelines that you can merge it with another pic of media, and you can justify it by saying it's an entirely different timeline. The DCU is so diverse and wide that its compatible with literally everything.
The MCU? Bruce and Tony know each other due to being billionaire playboys with genius intellect and using their skills to become formidable heroes. Thor and Diana know each other, the League of Assassins is aware of Hydra and the Red Room, etc.
Miraculous Ladybug? Diana and Queen Hyppolita (a former ladybug) know all about the Miraculous and Marinette goes to the Justice League for assistance with Hawkmoth. Given the people they've been up against before, Hawkmoth would fit right in. The addition of the miraculous would be very natural to the DCU.
Danny Phantom? A teenaged boy with ghost powers from another realm ends up in Gotham and starts trolling people is something that would definitely happen in Gotham at some point. It was only a matter of time.
I swear the next DCU & Batman crossover fandom is going to be Avatar the Last Airbender or something. With the Justice League adopting these gremlin children. Bruce "I adopt strays every other week" Wayne would see Katara, Aang, Toph, Zuko, Sokka, and Suki and go "Mine." Sokka cracking jokes with Dick, Zuko and Damian getting on each other's nerves, Katara and Alfred bonding over how they have to keep feral children in check, Toph and Jason trying to declare dominance over each other every other second. Aang going around Gotham and following Bruce while he does Batman things, and surprisingly getting along great with Damian over their love for animals (Damian refuses to admit he got excited when Aang allowed him to ride Appa). The spirits in the atla world won't be so far off base in a world where there are aliens, demons, and demigods walking the earth.
Gothamite criminals everywhere would be getting their asses kicked. Soon Gotham has six more vigilantes, four of which have terrifying elemental abilities and the other two can throw hands. Blue Spirit Zuko throwing hands, Painted Lady Katara thrashing people with water and healing innocents, Blind Bandit Toph crushing people into the dirt, Kyoshi Warrior Suki striking fear in the hearts of hundreds, Boomerang Sokka coming up with these crazy but effective plans that give Batman a whiplash, Avatar Aang greasing anyone who hurts his friends.
And the rest of the Justice League are terrified.
Actually you know what?
alta x dc anyone?

Hello! Do you have any tips for when it comes to writing stories about the fae? Are there things to keep in mind and things to avoid? I have a story in mind, but am a little nervous to get started. Since you have a lot more experience, I wondering if you could please help?
CAWRK!
Hah hah! I do have some tips.
Let's start with things to keep in mind when you're writing Fae.
1. The Fae we know and love are really more of a mixing pot. They draw from a myriad of European Cultures and multiple different time periods. The notable ones are Brythonic (Bretons, Welsh, Cornish), Gaelic (Irish, Scots, Manx). Also important to note are the Germanic Peoples and their mythologies (Norse Mythology, Anglo-Saxon Mythology, and Continental Germanic Mythology), as well as influences from Slavic Fairy Tales and Folk Beliefs.
In addition to other European or other Cultures that might have gone unmentioned, there are some historians, such as Barthélemy d'Herbelot, who believed that fairies were adopted from, or at least heavily influenced by, the Peris of Persian Mythology.
And even with the slow borrowing of ideas over the centuries of passing around Folklore and Fairy Tales, our idea of what the Fae are keeps being added to or changed. The English Middle Ages had its influences on them, and the Victorian Era British brought about massive changes to how they were viewed.
Literature over time has played its part in evolving how we depict them, and Modern Fantasy Literature has produced countless changes, likely even more than the Victorian Era.
2. There's actually very little about Faerie Folklore that is consistent across all of it's varied and tangled forms. We tend to assume Faeries are all Elf-Like and pointy eared, immortal royals because those were some of the most influential interpretations that our Modern Fantasy has carried to us. But research even a little about the Folk and you’ll instantly start coming up with all sorts of contradictions, even between people in the same cultural area over time. While there are a number of ideas of what Faeries are, from both ancient times and modern, we’re not even sure of that. Some believed them ghosts of the dead, or higher spirits, elemental spirits, fallen angels, demons, demoted pagan deities, remnant memories of prehistoric humanoid peoples (this theory is considered outdated), or even beings wholly different from humanity and possibly from another world. 3. There’s no particular reason Faeries need to be depicted as human-like in appearance. It is true that at times the term Fairy has been applied specifically to various groups of magical creatures with a human appearance, magical powers, and a mischievous nature. But it has also been used as an umbrella term for almost any magical creature. Many of them are vaguely humanoid such as gnomes, goblins, imps, trolls, brownies, etc. And sometimes there are beings who are not even remotely humanoid that are slipped under the umbrella of Faerie. Such examples as metaphysical beings or living elemental forces, the Cat-sìth, Cù-sìth, will-o’-the-wisps, the questing beast, or even occasionally dragons. Something that adds to this inclusion is the fact that the word Faerie, as it changed and moved about, came to mean many different things. Latin “Fāta” meaning the goddess of fate, to the Old French "Faerie" which meant not only the realm of enchantment, magic, or dream associated with the Fae, but also the occult, the collective canon of magical or mythological beings, beasts, or creatures, or anything that is the product of enchantment or illusion. From there it moved into the Middle English Fairye (faierie, ffayery, fayre, ffeyrye, faerie, feyrye, fairi, fairie) where it was to mean enchantment, illusion, dream at first. Then it expanded again to cover the inhabitants of fairyland as a collective. When they are humanoid, the appearance of the Fae can be as varied as humanity and likely more so. When they are not, they could be in any shape or form. Not everything has to be elfin, slender, white, and pointy eared. And this isn't even counting the countless stories depicting them as having some shapeshifting abilities. 4. Faeries are given many traits by many different stories. Immortality, a trickster nature, an aversion to iron, an inability to lie. But not all of these traits came from the same places or time periods. Indeed there are many stories both old and new that depict Faeries of various kinds perfectly well with only one, two, or even none of them.
5. Classification. A lot of people like to split the Fae into courts and various other groups and types. But it’s impossible to fully classify fairies, there’s just too much in folklore to properly sift through it all in a single lifetime, or even several lifetimes. But categorizing does serve a practical purpose, it helps to separate elements and groups from one another, and to understand underlying distinctions that ancient people would have just known but we have no contextual knowledge for. But many folklorists actually caution against over-categorization. Folk beliefs tended to be fluid and ever changing, leading to many names and types of beings that were inconsistent or having multiple names for the same type of being. Folklorists trying to stick to strict definitions are doomed to frustration. Even our delightful fairy courts, such as the seelie and unseelie, are really much less distinct that we like to think. Groups of faeries changed from tale to tale, and even from one version of a tale to another. Alright. Before I get too carried away, let’s look at the few things you might want to avoid or watch out for.
1. Despite the word Faerie being used as a way to refer to all the magical creatures and beings that those people would have known, be warned that trying to pluck mythical creatures and races from other cultures or religions and include them under the banner of Fae is not generally a good idea, even for a work of fiction. Best stick to stuff already connected to Faeries in one way or another from European Folklore. Or you might borrow some of the newly invented races from Modern Fantasy (such as Tolkien’s Orcs, or the later Dungeons and Dragons version of Orcs). Or if you’re feeling creative you can create your own entirely new and unique Fae creature.
2. Faerie Folklore, stories, fairy tales, and myths are unfortunately home to a lot of truly nasty things. Enslaving humans or Fae, kidnapping, rape, child murder, murder, permanent transformation into inanimate objects, racism, and much else. And while these do not make up the body of the story, they are there and consequently at least one or another will appear in most adaptations of the Fae. This in itself isn’t a bad thing, as those are legitimate motifs and themes that can be explored well in a narrative. But just because the characters might do something horrific, doesn’t mean you have to frame it as a normal or acceptable thing. Be very careful when exploring such themes as these in your work, do your research, and if you feel like you cannot discuss a disturbing theme such as this in a way that does it justice, that’s okay. You don’t have to include that just because it was in folklore. There’s a lot of folklore that doesn’t have it, there’s plenty to draw from about the Fae that isn’t awful. While I generally encourage instances of Blue and Orange Morality when it comes to the Fae, whether disturbing or light-hearted, If you find that you’re not comfortable with the elements of your own story… please don’t force yourself to write those in.
3. Don’t worry about making your Faeries historically accurate. You could try to copy one specific European Culture’s version of the Fae and only that one. But it’s inevitable that it’s not going to be completely right, or anywhere close. Studying the Faerie Folklore from even one Culture is the work of lifetimes. Your best bet is to take the folklore as inspiration, bits and pieces from here and there as you need them.
4. Always do your research, and make sure your sources are trustworthy. In addition to just plain old misinformation, there is a lot of folklore from these old European Cultures that has been appropriated and twisted, or misrepresented, or purposefully removed from context and time in some way in order to promote or justify racist ideologies, harmful or toxic behavior, to purposefully cause conflict and divide people, or even just to cause confusion.
My point is that you should be very careful about what you actually believe when it comes to researching folklore of any kind, Fae included. Can its sources verify the information solidly? Does it even have sources? Is the place you got it known for its reliability in information of this kind? If your source is somewhere on a social media site then it's a definite no. A blogging site, like Tumblr? Then you should know that blog posts are not considered verifiable sources, though there is some acceptance for those that fuel further research. Alright. I’ll leave it there. Now some quick tips for you.
1. Think about what style and atmosphere you want for your story. If you want the Fae to seem a certain way, or to feel close to a particular version, you need to find out what it is that makes them feel that way in the original and try to learn the writing technique.
2. The point is to tell a story, a narrative. You cannot include everything. You cannot represent everything people associate with the Fae. If you have some problematic theme from folklore you want to explore, or some social issue you’re planning on talking about in fiction form, fine. But stick to one or two. Not all of them. To tell an effective story you must narrow the focus so you and your audience don’t lose track of the central ideas.
3. It’s tempting to spend all your time building a huge complex culture for your story. I’m definitely guilty of that one. World-building is addictive. But set reasonable limitations for yourself.
4. Do spend some time considering who the Fae are. If they’re immortal, that will affect their whole culture, from what they eat or if they eat at all, to how they dress, what their art is like, and how they might think. People often forget that the Fae are supposed to be Other, not just magical nature humans with fancy gowns and a lot of lawyer talk. They are alien, different, strange. Their culture, their biology, their needs. 5. If you want to make a cliched Fae people in fancy courts who are averse to cold iron and cannot lie but deceive and dissemble with every breath… go for it. There’s nothing wrong with that. Cliches are cliche for a reason, they work. There would even be advantages to using this common depiction of the Folk, because many people are already familiar with it, you can spend more time in your story focusing on other themes or ideas, using the well known Fae traits to draw your reader’s expectations to where you want them.
6. Verse and rhyme are important tools you can use. Fae are often depicted singing or speaking in riddles and rhymes. Take a look at some writers who use a lot of poetry in their stories. Tolkien and Brian Jacques are some that spring immediately to mind, though there are many more. Keep in mind that if your poems or verse doesn’t add to or match the flow of your story and have purpose in forming your narrative, then it will likely just break the reader's immersion instead.
7. With the Fae a common theme is that beauty doesn’t equate good, and ugliness doesn’t equate evil. But beauty as a theme with Faeries is quite old and has taken a lot of different forms. Beauty of the ethereal or the divine, of the otherworldly and alien. The extraordinary beauty found in the natural and ordinary that we are blind to every day. The alluring beauty of illusions. Beauty is a very subjective thing, and so thus it is an excellent tool to use in exploring Fae narratives where it can be shaped in countless ways to do different things in the narrative.
8. Point of view is also very important to how you’re going to frame your faerie people. If your story is set from the viewpoint of someone who knows nothing about Fae then their understanding of these magical persons will be very different from the viewpoint of someone who goes into this adventure already having some working knowledge of them. Or you could depict the Faerie from the eyes of one of their own, and a faerie would see their own people in a very different way than a human would, for good or ill.
9. I cannot stress enough the importance and effectiveness of WHIMSY as a narrative technique when writing about distantly metaphysical or surreal subjects such as the Fae. Balanced well with the aspects of your work that are more grounded, it can help the flow of your writing immensely and aid in keeping your reader engaged and immersed.

Rethinking the Great Wheel
This isn't a one-size-fits-all kind of idea. I've just been working on my own campaign setting lately, and trying to answer some questions while molding the standard D&D cosmology and biology into something more unique. I still like Planescape's vibe of "ideas becoming physical creatures, places, and forces" but my setting doesn't need upwards of 38 different planes.
I know that deities are an important part of Tephra, so I wanted to establish where they are when not creating the world. I also wanted a home for some of the classic planar creatures: elementals, demons, fey etc.
Tephra is the solid heart of its local reality, as the Material Plane where mortals are born and where they live. The World Below is the afterlife, where mortal souls go. Nerull takes them, Segojan guides them, and Ereshkigal watches over them as the queen of the underworld. The Lady of the Nine Doors makes sure that the dead stay out of trouble in endless dimly lit cavern galleries. Sometimes a resourceful ghost will retain enough memory to return to the land of the living. The World Above is hard for mortals to even imagine. This is the realm of the other gods - good, evil, and neutral alike. Each major deity has a center of power here, though some are better neighbors than others. Sekolah and Umberlee share a turbulent sea domain, for example. The gods also created beings of energy to act in their will from time to time, so angels and devils dwell in the World Above, and powerful mages can call them down to Tephra. The World Between is partially in phase with the material plane. In Tephra, each river and mountain, each geyser and sirocco, has an elemental spirit. Many plants and even some animals have dryads or other fey watching over them. But these beings all live in the World Between, visible and active when they choose. One interesting note: when mortals interact with their environment more and acknowledge it, they reinforce certain traits. So a brook where people do laundry and chat might become a friendly and talkative elemental... or the deadly shipwrecking rock in the bay might have a sinister pack of stone mephits.

unlike most magic users, john relies on talking his way out of a situation, lying where it’s necessary, and using his knowledge of the occult to manipulate and gain the upper hand in a given scenario prior to even using magic  ( if the circumstances allow for it ).  before he’s a magician, he’s a con-man.
although it looks daunting, and can make john seem overpowered  ( which, to be fair, he is to an extent. he’s had time to understand and refine his magic over two+ decades, he’s mastered what most [ excluding the likes of zatanna zatara, doctor fate, etc. ] could not ),  his title of “the most powerful magician alive” stems from his link to synchronicity  &  his bloody approach to solving the cases he’s given, rather than his skillset. john is, by all means, unpredictable.
below is a list of  ( most, not all )  canon + headcanon(ed) abilities of john’s as a demonstration of what he’s capable of. this list is constantly expanding as he learns  &  mimics opponents and the world around him. this will also cover physical abilities and languages. a similar post will be made regarding paraphernalia and another about his tattoos.
astral projection   ─   as seen in hellblazer: joyride [ 1 ], john is able to separate his soul from his body to travel through psyches and dimensions.
arcane knowledge.
knowledge of the occult.
alchemy.
divination   ─   the ability to gain insight into a question or situation using an occultic, standardised process or ritual. [ 2 ] as seen in hellblazer #4 and hellblazer #182. [ 3, 4 ]
evocation   ─   the power to call upon or summon a spirit, demon, deity or other supernatural agent. [ 5 ] as seen in hellblazer #11. [ 6 ]
necromancy   ─   the power to utilise magic involving the dead, death-force and / or souls. [ 7 ] as seen in hellblazer #230, [ 8 ] in which john raised a group of murder victims as ghosts to attack their murderer.
pyromancy  &  hell-fire magic.
invisibility   ─   through the use of sigils as well as spells. he is also able to spot invisible forces or suspect those who might be utilising the power of cloaking / invisibility.
time-travel.
synchronicity wave travelling   ─   allows him to make his own luck resembling probability manipulation. [ 9 ] it’s explained as:  “ an instinctual ability employed by john constantine. this can only be employed by people with the title “the laughing magician”. synchronicity is the experience of two or more events that do not share a direct relationship but have a related means alter or it is also seen as a set of causal unrelated ‘coincidence’. synchronicity in magic is the belief the universe is guiding you. these random events and (un)pleasant coincidences is the universe leading you somewhere. ”      /      “ by stepping in the synchronicity freeway, he takes control of synchronicity, john can make his own luck and advantages in battle. this allows him to use fate and synchronicity to his advantage, putting fate in his side and multiplying his chances of succeeding even more. [ synchronicity wave travel ] allows john to make his own luck, and reshape the battle he’s fighting to his own accord and liking. ” [ 10 ]
resurrection   ─   while john can be killed, he can resurrect himself by exiting the afterlife.
illusion casting.
oclumancy   ─   or mind link. john was able to erase a man’s traumatic memories   ( hellblazer #217 )   [ 11 ]   &   mind-control a whole penitentiary of inmates to riot madly and bring him a cigarette.
soul link   ─   the power to be linked by one’s own soul to another. this can be done by using a form of oclumancy or soul resonation [ 12 ] or by sexual intimacy. this can help john locate others across dimensions.
realm travel   ─   as well as being able to travel through time, john is also able to travel through different realms by opening up “paths” or gateways. these realms include heaven, hell, limbo,  &  swamp thing’s “the green.” [ 13 ]
the ability to use sigils   ( will expand on in another post ).
magic circles   ─   a form of protection magic.
intangibility   ─   he’s able to phase through physical matter though he has to cast a spell in order to do so, i.e. when fighting the encores, john can be seen phasing through the floor to avoid being stabbed. this is seen again in the house of mystery.
exorcism   ─   as well as being able to evict malevolent entities from the body   ( or object / location ),   [ 14 ] he is also able to bind, immobilise, and seal the spirits to anything he sees fit, including himself.
knowledge   &   frequent use of the dark arts   ─   magic, light and dark, always comes with a price   ( will expand on in another post ).
extra sensory awareness   ─   the ability to perceive and detect the presence of ghosts, spirits and other otherworldly beings, as well as get strong “gut-feelings” that act as a sixth sense, leading him to whatever or whoever may need his help.
blood magic.
spirit ward creation.
•     john has also conquered the art of using non-verbal magic. spell work  &  incantations are difficult enough by themselves, to be able to cast without needing his hands nor voice is akin to learning another language. it requires incredible concentration, a strong mind, and a lot of willpower. john has to summon the spell in his mind, or at least have a fierce idea of what he’s casting. this now comes as second nature. •     he’s multilingual. english is his first language but he’s also fluent in italian, assyrian, hebrew, latin, and ancient greek. he’s able to read  &  understand arabic and sanskrit. he can perform spells in these languages, too. •     when using magic, john’s eyes glow gold. •     he’s a skilled detective, con-artist, strategist,  &  escape artist. he’s known to also possess a higher than average intellect as he’s outwitted satan and his demons   [ * ]   several times. this doesn’t make him the smartest, but it does make him the most cunning.      [ * ]   dying would cause a war for his soul due to the amount of times he’s sold it. •     while he is immortal, he can still be killed and remain dead for a certain period of time. how long he remains deceased for is dependant. this is a direct consequence of selling his soul to the lords of hell. •     john can just about hold his own in hand-to-hand combat. he prefers to use stealth to take down his opponents by using cloaking spells and defensive sigils, typically relying on out-smarting the enemy rather than trying to upstage them in a physical brawl. when engaging, his style is something akin to kick-boxing  &  while he has occasionally won some fights, he’s overall a poor fighter when compared to the likes of wonder woman, batman, and superman   ─   whose skillset is largely reliant on brawn. •     john’s adept at using firearms though he isn’t keen on the idea and will rarely use them in conflict unless it’s handed to him and used as a last resort, or he has to. •     his blood is demonically tainted. it holds healing properties  &  can act as a defence mechanism against other beings, such as vampires.
john is absolutely somebody you’d want on your side because you don’t want him working with your enemies. his skillset makes him formidable and while he’s able to be defeated, to attempt such a feat using magic if you’re not equals is futile.

MATT + RANDOM DETAILS
tw: drug mentions, mental illness, death
matt has been rather buisness savy since he was young. this was mainy due to the unrealiabity of his living situation at home. he was constantly moving around and at times, when his mother dissapeared, had to figure out ways in order to bring income into his household for both himself and his older sister.
similairly, matt and vicki have been exposed to drugs and alcohol educed enivorments as a very early age too. often seeing addicts on their couch or room or other such living situations, which again, were constantly shifting and changing around. matt’s innocent young boy next door look was often used as a means to shift drugs from one place to another which a young matt was forced to do saying it paid for things like ‘a roof over your head’ or new shoes for school etc.
due to cambion nature, matt was born dead for just over a minute to doctors confusion before he started to breath on his own. this is because cambions are the bridges between dimensions, more common, that realms of life and death. and thus, being born dead, matt’s ability to be connected to realms such as the afterlifes, hell and purgatory were awakened and leaves him with medium like powers he could access such as communicating with ghosts and other spirits.
this actually differs to the way vicki was born. like matt, vicki was also born as a cambion. it is as such, that even before vicki had been born, she had actually died in the womb thus when she was born, she was more subject to malevelant forces and spirits in a way that matt never was. it is suspect that she used drugs at an early age as a coping mechanism for seeing visions and ghosts, or for hearing ghosts, that would otherwise perhaps present as signs of schizphrenia.
kelly, matt and vicki’s mother, had believed she’d been notified by the devil himself that she would be the mother of the anti-christ, for he would bring destruction of the entire town of mystic falls, and eventually, the world as a means of starting the world over by destroying god’s most precious gift, humanity. she had to become a demon in order to do so, thus, sacrficing her soul where she burned in hell and because a succubus. she had to corrupt a god-fearing man in order to give birth to the anti-christ, in which she chose her on again off again boyfriend of peter maxwell, who’s family have deep routes as the builders and protectors of mystic falls, even often associated with angels, being gifted the use of enochian sigls as a means of protection together with the young family. to kelly’s surprise, her son was not born first and the process of giving birth to a cambion, should have killed her so the fact terrified her that she would have to go through that again, as vicki was the anti-christ who was prophencied, but her younger brother, matthew. vicki was named as such, due to the fact both her and kelly, had been spared in the brutul child birth of creating a cambion in the first place. thus being victorious...
unlike vicki, matt’s powers had manfisted very late due to a lack of signs and as such, this scared kelly at the fact she could not survive another child birth of a third cambion and didn’t want to dissapiont the devil. the first time matt’s powers present themselves was when he dissapoint from middle school for a week. it was believing he was kidnapped sometime outside of school and the entire town had search parties looking for him, mainly due to the fact matt was best friends with mayor lockwood’s son tyler, and the town famous doctor gilbert’s daughter, elena. he was found unharmed by the falls, cold and shaken up, but when he was asked where he’d been, he’d just said he was in mystic falls, except it looked different and he felt strange like he wasn’t home. he travelled to a realm of hell that paralled mystic falls itself, stranded there alone without knowing how to get back.

Bhoota/Bhuta
A bhoota or bhuta is a supernatural creature, usually the ghost of a deceased person, in the popular culture, literature and some ancient texts of the Indian subcontinent. Interpretations of how bhootas come into existence vary by region and community, but they are usually considered to be perturbed and restless due to some factor that prevents them from moving on (to transmigration, non-being, nirvana, or swarga or naraka, depending on tradition). This could be a violent death, unsettled matters in their lives, or simply the failure of their survivors to perform proper funerals.
Tumblr media
Belief in ghosts has been deeply ingrained in the minds of the people of the subcontinent for generations. There are many allegedly haunted places in the subcontinent, such as cremation grounds, dilapidated buildings, royal mansions, forts, forest bungalows, burning ghats, etc. Ghosts also occupy a significant place in the Bengali culture. Ghosts and various supernatural entities form an integral part of the socio-cultural beliefs of both the Muslim and Hindu communities of Bangladesh and Indian states of West Bengal. Fairy tales often use the concept of ghosts and references to paranormal activity are found amply in modern-day Bengali literature, cinema, radio and TV programmes. In Pakistan, the word jinn is used to refer to both the Arabic Jinns as well as bhootas. Influenced by Arabic and Persian mythology, bhootas in the Pakistani society have a more varied and fluid identity, ranging from Jinns from another realm made of fire, to ghosts of humans who died painful deaths.
Bhūta is a Sanskrit term that carries the connotations of "past" and "being" and, because it has connection with "one of the most wide-spread roots in Indo-European — namely, *bheu/*bhu-", has similar-sounding cognates in virtually every branch of that language family, e.g., Irish (bha), English (be), Latvian (but) and Persian (budan).
In Hindustani, Punjabi, Kashmiri, Bengali, Sindhi and other languages of the northern subcontinent, the concept of bhoots is extensively used in idiom. To be "ridden by the bhoot of something" (bhoot sawaar hona) means to take an obsessive interest in that thing or work unrelentingly towards that goal. Conversely, to "dismount a bhoot" (bhoot utaarna) means to break through an obsession or see through a false belief that was previously dearly held. "To look like a bhoot" (bhoot lagna) means to look disheveled and unkempt or to dress ridiculously. A house or building that is untidy, unmaintained or deserted when it should not be is sometimes pejoratively called a bhoot bangla.
The word has travelled far into Southeast Asia: it entered Javanese through Sanskrit as buta generally referring to a malevolent spirit/demonic giant which haunts places, it also refers to the genre of evil giants in wayang stories such as Buta Cakil. It has also undergone an evolution in the Malay world to mean a jinn-like creature mentioned in the as Malay Annals; there is a legend of such a creature that dwells in the plains of the Perak River with similar traits albeit of gigantic size giving its name to a town in north of the Malay Peninsula named Bota.
Bhootas are able to shape-shift into various animal forms at will, but are most often seen in human shape. However, their feet often reveal them to be ghosts, since they face backwards. As the earth is regarded as sacred or semi-sacred in many traditions of the Indian subcontinent, bhootas will go to great lengths to avoid contact with it, often floating a fraction above it, although sometimes as much as a foot off the ground. Furthermore bhootas cast no shadows, and speak with a nasal twang. They often lurk in the branches of specific trees and prefer to appear in white clothing. Sometimes bhootas haunt specific houses (the so-called bhoot banglas, i.e. bhoot bungalows), which are typically the places where they were killed or places which hold some other deep significance for them.
Many ghost stories in the region combine these elements. For instance, they might involve a protagonist who fails to flee or take countermeasures when they run across a bhoota. Instead, they unwittingly accept the bhoota's companionship (e.g., keep the ghost company as he/she walks through a forest, or (if a man) picks up the ghost in his car because it looks like an attractive woman waiting by the roadside at night). They become progressively aware that their companion is dressed entirely in white and has a strangely nasal voice, before the horrifying realization dawns on them that their companion's feet are turned backwards, or he/she is not casting a shadow in the moonlight, or is walking without actually touching the ground. Bhootas are said to seek out milk and immerse themselves in it. Consuming bhoota-contaminated milk is considered a typical route for bhoota- possession of humans, which has also been a frequent plot element in bhoota stories.
A particular kind of bhoota, that of a woman who died during pregnancy or childbirth, is known as a churel (dakini in Nepal and eastern India). Churels look like human women, but their feet are turned backwards or other features are turned upside down. They can change their forms at any time. Churel often try to lure young men at road crossings and fields or similar places. If a man is enamoured of a churel, it is believed that she will cause his death. There are, however, stories of people living with a churel, or even marrying one.
In many regions, bhootas are said to fear water and objects made iron or steel, so keeping either of these near at hand is believed to afford protection against them. The scent of burnt turmeric is also said to ward them off - as are the fibres of the Apiaceous herb bhutkeshi ("bhoota's hair"). As is typical of ghosts throughout the world, invoking the name of holy figures and deities is also said to repel bhootas. In some regions, sprinkling earth on oneself is said to shield against bhootas. According to Hinduism and all Dharmic Religions, the soul cannot be destroyed by any means. As a bhootaa is just the lost, or angry soul of a deceased person, Hindu exorcists will not (or cannot) destroy them, but perform instead a ritual from the Atharva Veda called atma-shanti which is just a modified shraadh (death anniversary) carried out by those haunted by a bhoota, promising it that they will do everything in their power either to ensure the rebirth of the bhoota or to finish the works left incomplete by it (or both). Such actions provide the bhoota with what it wants, causing it to cease haunting its victim for good.
The Bhutas, spirits of deified heroes, of fierce and evil beings, of Hindu deities and of animals, etc., are wrongly referred to as "ghosts" or "demons" and, in fact, are protective and benevolent beings. Though it is true that they can cause harm in their violent forms, as they are extremely powerful, they can be pacified through worship or offerings referred to as Bhuta Aradhana.

Are there any vel monsters you have that you think are neat but won’t be able to fit into the story?
ohhhh hmm. there are a couple monsters i really wish i could fit in the story but i don't think it will ever be relevant enough to force it in hahaha.
i'm actually working on a codex for the twine version and i plan to have a bit more info about the creatures you run into in game & that are mentioned in passing (like the lycan) which i'm excited about.
the wraith is a pretty common vel monster and is formed when really bad people die violent deaths. they essentially are blocked from passing through the vel and forced to rot in the human realm as punishment. we might see more of them eventually.
they typically are more.. incorporeal and ghost-like but if theyre really old they tend to be stronger and more physical. the wraith in the prologue was also getting a bit of a boost from the other side...
lycans likely won't come up in game again at all. they're a bit different from wraiths in that they are more... of this world than the wraiths are, though they are influenced by the vel and the moon in tandem. the other monsters (that i have planned atm) we'll see in game are more like this than the wraith.
i really wish i could include vampires but i don't think i will be able to, either. vampires are actually humans that have made a pact with a specific god through the vel & a part of their pact requires human blood.... it's a bit of lore i have sitting in my brain but i don't think it will ever be relevant in game.
sirens are another creature i really wanted to include but the way the story has changed it just doesn't seem likely anymore. they'll definitely show up in siren's call, though, whenever i get around to it... kelpies are also one of my favorite creatures but again i don't think they'll show up.
giants will get mentioned in passing eventually. i also really wanted to have a leshy creature show up but my game gets compared enough to the witcher as it is lmfao... so i cut that out.
there are draugar, hellhounds and barghests, nokken, selkies & kelpies. krakens, harpies, wargs/vargs, and dragons, too, though at the time of the game dragons are considered extinct. blood mages & blood alchemists are the more human threats that hunters handle and they'll summon demons & other creatures through the vel. quite a few vel creatures are just a fucked up animal, hahaha, typically something that is born in an area where the vel is weak and dark/outsider magic is influencing it (think like a horse with extra legs, massive wolves, freakish birds with too many eyes, etc). nymphs/fairies/fauns (i kinda combine them into a specific creature but i can't come up with a name lmao) are a kind of more friendly vel creature, though they can play tricks on you.
there are also spirits/ghosts which, depending on your choices, you may get to see one.
we'll see some manifestations of the various gods as well, like the messenger having swarms of crows & many eyes, the stormbringer causing storms (lol), and the traveler, too.

So the overwhelming answer to my previous post seems to be « ma’am please hand over the lore and OCs » so…
*cracks knuckles* LET’S GO!
Intro
The world is a urban fantasy setting.
The universe is made up of a superposition of multiple dimensions on top of each others. Initially, these dimensions were completly separate from each others. But a long time ago, all of them « collapsed » on top of one another.
Nowadays, they are all interconnected, meaning that while they exist in separate planes of existence, you can go from one to another through portals or breaches within these planes, or using magic.
Most of the dimensions are still whole and continuous, but some « broke » into pieces during the collapse, so they exist as separate, broken pieces of the same plane. As a result, even though they’re technically the same plane, you can’t go from one end of these plane to the other directly. Instead you have to go through another plane to access the rest of the pieces.
Exemples of planes or realms :
-          The human realm (also called Midgard)
-          Faerie, the realm of the fae
-          Takamagahara, the world of the kami
-          The realms of Asgard, Vanaheim, Alfheim, Jotunheim, Svartalfheim, Nilfheim, Muspellheim and Helheim
(and many others but i need to brush up on my mythologies)
There’s two more « special » realms, which are the Rim and Limbo.
The Rim
The Rim, also known as Yddgrasil, acts as a border and intermediary between worlds. It’s what connects them to each other. When you go through a portal or a breach to acces another realm, you pass through the Rim to do so.
The Rim is made of many pieces of broken planes that don’t exist on their own, and fused together after the collapse. So it can look very different depending of where you are. Some areas are forests, swamps, deserts, oceans, ruins, old abandonned cities etc.
It’s inhabited by small, independant settlements regrouping varying species, mainly from beings that refuse to bend to the laws or reigns of other worlds. As such, the Rim is sort of a no man’s land, that isn’t ruled by anyone, and constitute an lawless zone.
On top of these inhabitants, some dangerous and rare creatures dwell here as well, remnant of worlds that no longer exist.
Limbo
Limbo is a realm that doesn’t exist in its own space. Instead, it is on top of all the other realms, kinda like a parallele universe. The appearance is mostly the same, the big difference is that only dead beings can enter limbo. Limbo separate all the worlds from the Abyss (see below). When someone dies, their spirit goes to limbo to then go to the Abyss. However, the trip from limbo to the Abyss is a dangerous one. Souls are fragile, and by being lost in limbo for too long, or hust by suffering too much during their life or just being terrible poeple, their souls can get corrupted. That’s were demons and ghosts come from. They feed off of energy, and souls are made of energy, so they hunt the souls of the deceased to devour them before they reach the abyss.
The only living beings that can reach Limbo are poeple in a coma, though most forget everythig about limbo once they wake up, as well as some surnats like valkyries, who escort the deads to the abyss and protect them from the danger of limbo. Other beings have a connection to limbo, despite not being able to access it, such as banshees or some psychics.
Sometime, the limit between limbo and other realms weakens, usually when bad stuff happens in those realms, like wars and such, as well as during some times of the year, like Samhain. In those case, demons and souls/ghosts can access the other realms, and might get stuck there or just refuse to go back to limbo.
The Abyss
Not a realm per se, it’s more of a force, that exist all around. It’s the fundation of the world, what it is made of. All energy, life, and magic comes from the Abyss. When people die and travel through limbo and reach the abyss, they disapear. No one really knows what happens to souls that join the abyss, if they cease to exist, or reach an after life…
 The human world
It’s a little special compared to others, as it has some close connection the the abyss. This is what’s called Ley lines, where the abyss « bleeds » into the human world. As such, these are places of strong magical power, and they attract magically sensitive beings.
The ley lines don’t exist in other realms. It’s because when the Collapse happened, it’s believed that the human realm was the one all the other realms collapsed onto. So it’s the fundations of the world, base of it.
In the human realm, surnats exist among regular humans, usually blending completely in their society, though there exist some communities of surnats hidden in the world. Even if they blend amongst human, they still belong to the surnat society. Witches belong in covens, were-beings in packs, vampires in clans… And all species together belong to Cerberus, the governing body of the surnat living in the human world (though not all of them are happy about it).
The main goal of Cerberus is to maintain peace, as such, their mission is to keep the existence of surnats secret from humans, monitor and maintain laws etc.. there’s multiple specialised corps in Cerberus : police, ambassadors, diplomats, healers, soldiers etc…
Most of the story and most of my OCs live in a city situated on a ley line, called Falls Creek, in Maine.

Citizens of the Devildom HCs
Ok, so this isn't my normal kind of post, this is kind of a world building thing, but I think its kinda cool and is the only thing I have motivation to write- so hopefully y'all like this, I have a part two brewing in my head, and it might actually get typed out-
Anyways, I think its about time we delve into what the "citizens of the Devildom" entails-
Firstly, I believe they would be split into three main categories-
Spirit
Humanoid
Monster/non-humanoid
Below the cut is me breaking each category down farther and a bunch of stuff I came up with, hcs of how I think this works- enjoy!
Spirits
- Wisps- these are fragmented bits of souls, usually of lower ranking beings, or cursed beings. Some have enough consciousness to lead people wayward in their travels through the woods or into the outer rings of hell, thanks to legends and myths leading people to believe that they would lead them to knowledge or fortune.
- Ghosts- these guys gain more power the longer they remain this way, however they also have a closer connection with their body the more recently theyve passed. This means returning their soul to their body only works if they were an extremely powerful being, or if there happens to be an extremely powerful being nearby to assist- they go through different stages once their connection with their body is completely severed, which can vary depending on how willing they were to pass.**** Stage 1, they cannot interact in any way with the living. Stage 2, only necromancers and those who actively seek them out can interact with them for short, unsteady chunks of time. (This is like..the absolute last chance they have to maybe return to their body.) They can move small objects, like keys or figurines, but it can be exhausting. Stage 3, they can interact with more living world things, and mess with animals a bit. Stage 4, they can show themselves to the living for short amounts of time if they wish to, or remain invisible. They can possess objects. Stage 5, they can switch between being seen or not, as well as now curse objects if they were a magic weilder before they died. Stage 6, They have full control of their powers, and can possess humans. As their power grows, they will be able to possess more powerful beings, the hardest to do being an angel.
Ghosts only exist because they
1. Dont realize theyve passed on
2. Have unfinished business, and have a need/want to finish it on their own, or they have someone they need to communicate with.
3. They want to be a ghost-
**** in some cases, a ghost is aware they have passed on, but refuses to accept it. They do not meet any of the three things listed above- these ghosts are still grow in power, but are extremely unstable and unsafe for others in the Devildom, not to mention humans. They are exiled to the outer rings of hell until they change, or in rare cases, make it to the human realm.
- Shadow People- they don't quite fit anywhere else- these are often confused for stage 4 ghosts, however they are different. They flow freely between the human realm and the Devildom. They fade into the shadows, and follow people. As they grow more powerful, they can manipulate other shadows of objects. They cannot speak, but between shadow people, they can communicate through touch, but to other people, there is perhaps a type of energy they feel, but they cannot touch or speak. There are very very few shadow people that can materalize into something physical, though when they can, they can be extremely dangerous, or completely harmless and just curious- best to just not piss any of them off.
Humanoid
- Vampires- Canonically, dont think these guys exist if they had an event about it, but whatever. These have your typical vampiric powers, which I'll sum up with shape-shifting, heightened senses, hypnosis, super strength/speed, immortality, and of course though not designated as a "power", fangs. Their diet in the Devildom are compareable to human diets, blood being more of a dessert food, and when eaten/drunk, usually from a common Devildom livestock animal.
- Succubi/Incubi- again, same sort of thing as vampires- ya know the powers they got, I wont get into it if you dont, bc this is not the right kinda blog to go into that.😂
- Witches/Warlocks
ok so heres where we break this down again.
First there are witch-born and witch-learned folks, witch-born being exponentially more powerful than those who just learn witchcraft, though anybody can.
After that we have Elemental, Potion and Spell-based, Healing, Sin-Directed, and Great Witches, which know a fair amount of each magic type, and have mastered two types.
Elemental witches, as the name suggests, study the elements and usually try to specialize in one element, and then branch out. The four basic elements, (air, fire, water, earth), are gateways into learning other kinds of magic, such as earth- metal, or air- poison, etc.
Potion and Spell-Based witches, again, the name suggests, create potions and spells. Many witches do these as a source of income. This kind of ties into Sin-Directed witches, who usually find one of the sins most appealing, then focus their magic and learning to create spells/potions that relate to that sin, however Sin-Directed witches are usually the offspring of a demon and a witch and can usual make people feel a bit o the sin they study just by touching them.
So if there is a Sloth witch, their potions and spells relate to a full nights rest, to relaxation, etc.
Healing witches are on the brink of Devildoms society, almost outcasts as their magic is one learned from angels, but takes the most control and power, thus are respected nonetheless. Do I have a potential Romeo and Juliet story to go with this? Possibly
Demons
- Ok, again gotta split this up into
Demon born vs Fallen angel
As well as Elemental vs Sin
Demon born- they are inherently more aggressive. Early years are a pain....young demons likely being the most difficult children in devildom to raise.
Fallen angel- depends whether they wantwd to fall or not this isnt important rn-
Sin demons- the result of either accidental offspring from the brothers, or years of dedicated servuce to any one brother allowing their sin to slowly corrupt and invade the family line.
Elemental demons- like elemental witches.
Included under the humanoid category would be other beings like merfolk, as well as necromancers.
Demons are also ranked from nobility down to imps.
Monster
There are way too many to get into for this, but there is no way everyone is humanoid in the Devildom- thus allowing hell to be a home for goblins, trolls, gorgons, monsters without names, SCPs/other cryptids- literally, everything. If yall want me to get more into it, then let me know- I think I might be able too-

Vishakhatantra Headcanon #3: Classifications of Magical Creatures and Objects
Wizarding worlds has it’s fair share of things, both living and non-living that serve their daily purpose. In Indian wizarding society, each and every magical object is categorized under two types: Gana (tribe) and Guna (quality). The purpose of such classification helps the Magical authority to distinguish harmless things from dark and cursed magical objects or living things.
Gana (tribe)
Ganas correspond to the energy of one of the three worlds: Heaven, Earth and Underworld. The classification of Gana or tribe is usually used for magizoological creatures which are non-human and near human species. These categorization was done under the MPSA (Mayavi Prani Sangrakshan Ain, or Magizoological Creature Protection Act) in 1245 to preserve the diverse species of wizarding world.
The Idea of “Gana” is derived from the energy of 27 astrological constellations, and each Gana has 9 constellations under it’s type. However this classification of Gana uses rank 1 to 9 to denote the strength of each animal within the Gana.
Deva Gana (Divine type)
A creature that falls under the Deva gana is harmless, often vulnerable, of good temperament, benefic and with exceptionally powerful magical qualities. Many of the creatures falling under this category have many coveted skills or powers that humans seek to posses in both magical and non-magical realm. In India, all the magical creatures under the Deva Gana classification are protected by the law of the land and have special sanctuaries made for them for their protection. coming in contact with them, possessing them, domesticating them without permit is a criminal offence and slaying or harming them is enough to land one a death sentence.
Since many of the Deva Gana creatures yield powerful wand cores, they are extremely coveted by Wandmakers. In such cases, special license and non-slaying agreement to the Indian Wizarding Government must be acquired to be in contact with them. Currently India has Three sanctuaries for Deva Gana Creatures: Shambala (or Shangri-La) in the Himalayas, Dandaka Forest in Central India, and Laccadweep in the western sea: suitable for cold, humid and marine area magical creatures.
Some of the Deva gana creatures protected by Indian Wizarding government are:
Occamy (Paksinaga): grade 1 (Dandaka)
Pegasus (Pakshiraj): grade 7 (Shambala)
Phoenix (Agnipakshi): grade 5 (shambala)
Unicorn (Ekshringa): grade 3 (Dandaka)
Capricorn (Makara): grade 2 (Laccadweep)
Runespoor (Ahirbudhanya): grade 9 (Laccadweep)
Tumblr media
Manushya Gana (Human type)
These creatures are graded as safe to cohabit with humans and creatures. These are harmless to medium harmful, but they have mastered the ability to live alongside humans. Some of them are capable of human speech and enjoys human company. Manushya Gana species are categorised according to how close their physical appearance is to the human ones, the closer the appearance, the high the grade.
Lower grade type can be approached, while higher types must be respected as individuals with free will. Higher grade Human tribe species are more physically and mentally powerful than human wizards. Such creatures are allowed to study magic if they are categorised as possessing 60% of human qualities and agree on to swear to harm no human or creature unlawfully in Non-Violence Perpetuity Contract of 768.
Humans cannot establish marital, Romantic or sexual relationships with lower grade creatures of this tribe (or vice versa). The offspring of such union will be slain by the state as a Violation of MPSA act, and the parties involved will be sentenced to death; in case of force or coercion the guilty party would be put to death. Such relationship with Higher grade is it valid with mutual consent. Friendships and other platonic relationship is valid for all grade creatures of this kind.
Some of the Manushya Gana creatures are:
Grade 1-3 (Creatures, Can be approached as benign animals): Mooncalves, Golden swan, Demiguise, Salamander, Niffler etc.
Grade 4-6 (Individuals, Sexual/romantic/marital relationship forbidden, cannot be domesticated): Asvini (Indian Centaurs), Hayagriva (Horse Head, Human body), Vanara (Humanoid Apes), Sarpa (Snake humans) etc, Garuda (Head of eagle, body of man, can fly), Matsyamanav (Merpeople), Daitya (Giants),
Grade 7-9 (individuals; romantic, sexual or marital relationship is legal): Gandharva (human looking male enchanters), Kinnar (Hermaphroditic celestial creatures), Apsara (female gandharva), Naga (humans who can transform into great snakes), Yaksha (humanoid natural spirits), Asura (Demigods)
Tumblr media
Rakshasa Gana (Demonic Type)
As the name says, creatures under this category are classified as dangerous and unfit to cohabit within civilized atmosphere and must live away from humans in a secluded place. A colony of such creatures must not have any Deva or Manushya type population within 10 km radius.
The only race that ever ascended from Rakshasa gana to Manushya Gana is the Asuras. The Royal Edict of King Bali was issued when he surrendered his sins as Asura to Buddha and ordered for all Asura kind to cohabit with the humans ever so peacefully. Other such creatures did not agree on this and they declared enmity towards the Human and Divine type creatures. A treaty was signed where the Wizarding laws won’t be applicable to the Demonic types as long as they are on their designated colonies. Once they cross their territory and come to Wizarding soil, they would be subjected to the laws of wizards.
The grades 1-9 is used for these categories: corporeality, size, resembling human form, intelligence and danger level. Some of these creatures are still coveted for wandmaking, mnemonic magic and potion making. In such cases skilled aurors shall accompany wandmakers and ingredient hunters with high-confidentiality permit. Since wizarding laws don’t apply on them, they need to be extra careful. Some of these creatures are:
Grade 1-3 (mild malignant, unable to hold corporal body): Bhoot (ghost), Atma (non corporeal departed spirits), Mohini (white enchantress of the night), Jogini (powerful spirit of a female witch, who died during rituals)
Grade 4-6: (able to hold corporal body, can inflict considerable harm) Pishach (Indian vampires), Aghori (corpse eaters), Preta (Hungry, vengeful ghosts) Bramharakshash (Malignant Spirit of a Dead Scholar), Khokhosh (Small pygmy like creatures), Takshak (Snakes with feet), Betaal (Vengeful natural spirit)
Grade 7-9: (has colossal corporal body, very strong, intelligent, very dangerous): Dragons (western), Rakshash (Demons with human shapes), Danava (demons with non-human shapes), Kalkeya (Dark demonlike creatures that can change from corporal to non-corporal), Daini (Dark witch who turned a demoness), Damor (Indian Incubus), Damri (Indian Succubus)

Guna (quality)
In Tantra or High Philosophy, all things are made of essentially three essences or qualities. These qualities determine the nature of things and keep the balance of nature. These three gunas are used in Indian Wizarding world to signify branches of magic, magical activity, place and energy under the Wizarding Law of India.
Satva Guna (Quality of Preservation)
“Satva” is granted as the essence of living being, the soul and the power that preserves. Dominance of Satva in a magic makes it peaceful, healing, balancing, pleasant to the mind and body and enhances mental agility in such a state. Satva is the essential quality of the Deva Gana creatures and lower branches of Manusya gana creatures. This quality rejects anything dark, defiled or corrupt and thus such existence must always be present in the service of the Good. such as Law enforcement, Jury, etc.
Although Satva guna is called the Best quality of the Three, it lacks greatly in drive and creativity and it is very passive in nature. Healing magic, Charms, Spirit Fire, Patronus, Corporeal magic, History of Magic, Ayurveda (Indian Herbology), Care of Magical Creatures, Mnemonic magic, some branches of Legillimency are considered Satvik (possessing the quality of Satva) in Indian Magic. People who mostly practice Satvik magic has the same temperament in their characters: they are calm, affectionate of all, peace and justice loving, forgiving, believer of truth and morality and they make great teachers, healers, diplomats, scholars and researchers. These qualities are also imparted in some wand woods and cores which are also marked as Satvik.
Tumblr media
Rajas Guna (Quality of Creation and taking action)
“Rajas“ is granted as the life force of living being, the will to live and the power that creates, initiates actions and acts. Dominance of Rajas in a magic makes them simulating, exciting, that induces creativity, emotional discharges and motivates the wizards to take action. Rajas is the essential guna of all the creature because it is the passion, hunger, sexual impulses and emotional responses that makes their life meaningful in the Earth.
In High Philosophy or Tantra, Magic itself is a Rajasic existence, because it forces mundane human beings to be creative with higher power. Despite that, there are specific magical branches that are more rajasik than others. Battle Magic, Spell seals, Sacred Mathematics, Alchemy, all are considered “Rajasik” (Possessing the quality of Rajas). People who mostly practice Rajasic Magic are lively tempered, easily excited, creative, impulsive, original, go-getters and followers of principles and they always make great politicians, aurors, entrepreneurs, magical artists or architects even experimental practitioners. These qualities are also imparted in some wand wood and cores which are also marked as Rajasik.
Tumblr media
Tama Guna (Quality of restriction, destruction and Transformation)
“Tama“ is granted as the force that destroys, restricts and transforms. Tama is limitation, destructive force and power to change one form of energy to the other. Dominance of Tama in a magic makes it destructive, illusion-inducing, transmuting, restricting and fear inducing. Tama is the quality that enables the creatures to rest, to fear the danger and die in order to survive in their lifetime.
Tama is often misinterpreted as something “Dark” or “Defiled”. Although Tama is the essential quality in Dark Magic, but it is also prevalent in Light Magic. It is said that western Magic is More Tamasic and Eastern Magic is More Rajasic in Nature. Thus many of the Western Magical Branches: Defence Against the dark arts, Transfiguration, Potion making, are considered Tamasic in Nature. People who practice Tamasic Magic (on the side of Light Magic) are very restrictive, rule following, inflexible, practical individuals, who would rather follow textbook rules than doing anything original. People who practice Dark Tamasic Magic are violent, ruthless, uncouth and often manipulating in nature. Tamasic qualities when harnessed positively makes one great soldier, wizard lawyers, Unspeakables and other job-holders that require restriction and secrecy. There are wand cores and wand woods that are also marked as Tamasik.

FusionFall Headcanons: Te-Xuan-Ze Inc.
There are at least two locations within the game where we find this curious business: Orchid Bay and Endsville. Based on the original character guide/bible from 2007, it’s a paranormal consulting agency that Juniper Lee opened.  (A big thanks again to the person who sent me that!) While the guide itself seems to contain mostly early-mid concepts that didn’t always make it/were changed in the final game and there isn’t a mention of this business in missions/other dialogue that I’ve seen for us to pull other information from, the fact that it is still present holds weight.
Since the two locations I mentioned are the only places where I’ve found TXZ Inc. along with it’s obvious name, it’s pretty safe to say that the business still focuses strongly on the paranormal.  Orchid Bay is June’s hometown that’s crawling with monsters out of sight from human society while Endsville is its own hotbed for the supernatural. However, since it would go against June’s story in her own show, I don’t think she’d come out so openly with her identity as the Te-Xuan-Ze. We also have the issue where she wasn’t able to leave Orchid Bay before she made her deal with Grim because of the war, which would’ve made running a much bigger branch in Endsville difficult for her. The following points will break down my thoughts concerning these issues.
First off is how the name/identity of the Te-Xuan-Ze is being used for the business. While the realms of the supernatural may be hidden in the world of June’s show, that’s not the case in others like Fusionfall itself. The Saturdays and some other Secret Scientists look for cryptids.  As mentioned, Endsville has supernatural beings all over the place. We have demonic villains like Him, Aku, and Demongo.  The list goes on... Moreover though, there’s also evidence of a past Te-Xuan-Ze at the Forgotten Falls through the statue that’s there for anyone to find.  Because of this, for most people within the world, I’d say that the Te-Xuan-Ze as a title is known mostly as a legend that only those with a wider understanding of the supernatural realms can confirm.  This would allow June to use the namesake for her business without many people understanding what it truly meant, and even then, many of those who did would likely just pass it off as something derived from folklore--effectively hiding her identity in plain sight.  The name wasn’t chosen out of laziness or simple pride in the title though: It serves another purpose. If supernatural beings need June’s help, they know exactly where to go.
As for who’s actually running these businesses, I think June’s mainly working them behind the scenes with her family. A few close people in her circle, like her two brothers, are already aware of her true identity and have helped her on her adventures before. While she might not have been able to leave Orchid Bay until recently, they could: Therefore, it was through them that she was able to expand. Any employees that they added on, meanwhile, were carefully selected with the condition that they already engage with the supernatural or can at least see past the magical veil. Since supernatural beings may show up as clients themselves, or on the chance that someone/something actually arrives at TXZ Inc. with the intent to harm June and/or others, they need to be prepared for anything.
To the average person with just an interest in the paranormal, nothing really stands out. There’s the typical ghost-hunting equipment like dark lights, EMF detectors, and spirit boxes; tons of books; etc. It’s the kind of stuff you’d find at tourist sites in Salem or Gettysburg. A keen eye might be able to find some worthwhile things; however, there’s a lot more products sold under the table that you can only really get your hands on if you know exactly what to ask for.
TXZ Inc. encourages that all people share their supernatural stories.  A lot of them are nothing and they don’t look into every single one as a result, but its just in case there are witnesses of devious events too worried about others thinking they’re crazy or lying to speak up otherwise.
Since Endsville’s state with the supernatural is more open and chaotic than in Orchid Bay, it’s branch ended up being much larger and there’s a lot more products available. They even have items directly from the Underworld.
Occasionally, TXZ Inc. handles tours/open investigations; however, since the business is focused primarily on defending both humans and supernaturals alike, the people working there don’t make a habit of just waltzing onto a paranormal site. For one thing, it could be dangerous for those they bring along if there is something really going on at those sites. For another, it can be just plain rude to the supernaturals.  Most likely, they’ll host them to distance the public from truly deadly areas, often working with paranormal beings to put on a show. Jeff the Spider is one of the supernaturals who’s been hired by them in the past--to different results each time.
Over time, Hoss Delgado became a bit of a regular client to TXZ Inc. He and Juniper Lee still don’t see eye-to-eye regarding to how they approach the paranormal, with him being far more aggressive and confrontational; however, early on when the business was forming, he was able to suggest some good equipment for them to have in-stock.  Now, they’re an easy supplier for himself--so long as he remembers not to attack any supernaturals shopping there anyway...

(Arcana) Everyone gains a cantrip. Now this minor power is just something everyone does, like breathing or eating.
(Any) Suddenly there is a war in the cosmos. Minor deities, greatly powerful beings like Warlock Patrons, and other generally unknown greater powers are vying for the position.
(Any) Upon the god’s death, their body is split into thousands and thousands of pieces. These rain down like meteorites but instead of being falling rock bits, it’s a new people recently awoken. Who are these newcomers and what is their memory of or connection to this lost god?

(Trickery) it becomes impossible for anyone to lie or mislead
(Forge) a small mountain range of metals and the occasional gem crashes into the planet in 3… 2… 1…
(Knowledge) everyone receives random revelations rather simultaneously.
(Trickery) some guy shows up three days later, wondering what all the hubbub’s about.
(Life) Every wound healed by their clerics starts to rot, and everyone reanimated becomes undead.
(Trickery) Their holy texts go blank, holy symbols turn to dust, and all knowledge of the god is ripped from mortal minds, the god is dead and forgotten in all ways. While most people feel like they’ve forgotten something, the most devout worshippers to the lost god go mad from the hole in their mind and soul.
(Trickery) The gods secrets are spread throughout the world, the common-folk learn of their rulers corruption, people discover their spouses cheating, children learn their beloved dog didn’t go to a farm, all secrets good and bad are made known and will rip families, kingdoms, and even other faiths apart.

(Nature) Many two headed animals are born the following day.
(Any) The god(s) start to slip away out of people’s mind, and they start questioning if they were ever thing to begin with.

Oooooo if 3-E were supernatural creatures who would be what 👀👀👀
Oooohh this is interesting to think about! I’m sorry, I don’t know a lot haha so I did some research to have more options!!
Karma: Demon
I feel like I don’t need to elaborate on this too much lmao. The boy is mischievous, LOVES to mess with mortals for no reason. When he’s feeling a particularly strong emotion, usually rage, excitement, etc, his eyes glow a shade of yellow-gold (like what canon showed)
Isogai: Demi-God
His crazy perfection in everything has to come from somewhere. His father was a God who left his realm and lost his immortality to be with Isogai’s mother, a mortal. Isogai only became aware of his heritage after his father’s passing.
Okajima: Half-Angel
LMAO I mostly picked this for the irony, but it kinda fits ngl. He’s generally a good, loyal, kind person and a very good friend. His perverted nature is his one big flaw and comes from the influence of his mortal father, who was his main guardian since his mother remained on Heaven.
Okano: Werewolf
I’m gonna credit this one to @greengargouille haha. They made a wonderful post about this idea that I still adore with my whole heart. But yeah, Okano being a badass werewolf with crazy athleticism and defying femininity expectations? Yes please.
Okuda: Witch
She excels in potion-making, of course. She comes from a long line of witches and magic-users in her family. So she feels quite a bit of pressure to be successful. She’s very talented but needs a tad bit more of control in her magic.
Kataoka: Mermaid
This one shouldn’t be a surprise haha. She’s a very strong and powerful swimmer...but where does all that raw talent come from? Surprise, Megu is a mermaid and she can transform between her physical forms at will. She loves the water because it’s her home and what she knows best.
Kayano: Part-Phoenix
I don’t know how this works and how someone can be part-Phoenix lmao, but it fits her way too well. A being that goes out in flames and starts a new life...isn’t that basically what Kayano did after her reveal? Her new life is her going by Akari again and showing her true colors to the class.
Kanzaki: Goddess
She’s apart of a very royal family of gods...all with ridiculously high standards and little respect for her. Kanzaki is very powerful and has so much raw potential but she’s never been able to show it. Her best skills are teleportation, invisibility, and a strong grasp on aerokinesis.
Kimura: Centaur
I’m serious about this one lmao. He’s a very fast runner and impresses everyone, and it’s thanks to his strong physique and raw energy in centaur form. Don’t worry, he can shape-shift back to a human form, but he hates it because he loses his height and is back to being 160 cm.
Kurahashi: Fairy
Of course, this bright, sunny, cheerful sweet girl could only be a fairy. She has a very strong connection to nature and wildlife, to the point that if they’re harmed, she feels the pain. Her wings are very tiny at age 14 can easily hide underneath her clothes. But by adulthood, they’re grown and able to use for flight.
Nagisa: Half-Ghoul
Surprise...this soft boy is actually half-evil :’). His father is actually a ghoul, and Nagisa was very much unaware of it for all his life. Hiromi kept it a secret and tried to suppress that part of him too. Basically I imagine what it means for Nagisa is that death draws him, and his physiology is why he has such a high bloodlust. When he’s pushed to his limits, he’s terrifying... (cough Takaoka cough)
Sugaya: Wizard
He comes from a relatively average line of wizards, who all moved to the mortal realm and own artisan businesses. Sugaya wishes to do something similar and follow his passion for art. He mostly uses his magic for that, levitating his brushes, enhancing his work, creating new things. He’s quite talented at conjuring.
Sugino: Angel
Yes, I’m serious about this. Sugino is a very good person and always strives to lead others down the right path. He’s good at guiding, but even he wants to live for himself for once. So he learns what baseball is and grows a strong love for it.
Takebayashi: Wizard
Unlike Sugaya, he comes from a super prestigious line of successful and powerful wizards. His family is one of the top ones. He feels immense pressure to live up to them. His talents lie in fire magic, particularly creating explosions. And he’s a very skilled healer.
Chiba: Half-Dragon
Fitting considering his name 💜 He has the ability to change between his human and dragon form, but it’s very shaky for now. His eyes are a bright, terrifying shade of red, and it exposes his dragon heritage so he must hide it.
Terasaka: Half-Titan
His Titan physiology is the reason for his raw strength and physical prowess. He’s incredibly strong and has a high endurance, durability, stamina... He’s a talented fighter and will always use his advantage to protect his loved ones.
Nakamura: Siren
She hates being a siren so much. She has to deal with boring mortal guys all the time, who for some reason, love her voice. She gets a real kick out of fooling them though, and the pranks are always chaotic. Since she’s been having to sing and use her voice, she’s gotten the chance to learn many languages. She has an affinity for them, and wants to continue learning more.
Hazama: Witch
I know this is a little cliche. But in contrast to the potion-centered Okuda, Hazama excels in linguistic spells. She keeps a journal of every new one she learns, as well as images of herbs and such. She’s very interested in dark arts, but will only indulge in it with the presence of someone else, to make sure she doesn’t fall too deep.
Hayami: Witch
Wow I’m really repeating so many. Hayami is a very hardworking, talented witch. But she’s so focused on helping others, she tends to get taken advantage of unfortunately. She’s best at transfigurations, altering things to her (and others) liking. Her favorite test subject is Okajima. She’s quite talented in hand-to-hand combat and having kinetic vision, which helps in magic. She wants a cat as a familiar so badly.
Hara: Fairy
Hara says “fuck you” to the idea that fairies are traditionally small and frail. She’s proud of her physique and strength, and her interest in fighting. She’s still the sweetest fairy there could be, always looking after everyone and all of nature. She loves cooking and sharing it with as many people as she can find.
Fuwa: Ghost
Yep our crazy, lively Fuwa is a ghost! Specifically, she’s a poltergeist, the kind who try to create mischief in some way and move things around. The reason why Fuwa is kinda wild and open about her passions is so she can be noticed by people...if her presence isn’t being acknowledged, she loses her physical form and goes back to being a transparent spirit. It isn’t all bad though. Her favorite thing to do is read mangas in ghost form, so all people see is a floating copy of One Piece.
Maehara: Vampire
This one is a little cliche lmao, but he’s a vampire playboy who always ends up accidentally turning his girlfriends into vampires too with his bites. No one ever suspects him of being a vampire since he looks like sunshine incarnate. He’s quite reckless and has come close to being exposed multiple times, and Isogai always scolds him.
Mimura: Elf
Poor boy is a little insecure about being an Elf...he tries his best not to stand out, especially given his dad’s love for the spotlight. He is good at basic magic, slightly above average. His best talent and what he excels at is photokinesis. He uses it on his filming hobby, to change what’s on camera, adjust lighting, etc. He can go as far as even completely remove shadows from the sunlight.
Muramatsu: Alchemist
He comes from a relatively average family of alchemists that used their abilities for culinary purposes. He enjoys it a lot, and is very talented. He prefers to rely on physical prowess when it comes to fights, but is able to use his alchemy additionally.
Yada: Vampire
Yada is the hot vampire girlfriend we all wish we had 😔 Just kidding haha. But yes, she’s a vampire and no one would ever expect it with how good she is at hiding. She plans out her life and days to specifically avoid sunlight, garlic, etc. She’s a very busy member of the school community and has tons of friends and connections. She and Maehara, her fellow vampire, constantly compete to see who can get more dates.
Yoshida: Werewolf
This is slightly cliche since he’s the resident bad boy, but it fits. He tries to keep a tough image even in human form partly since his family taught him to do so, and because it is comfortable for him. But he’s a softie deep down, and is nowhere near as ruthless as he’s believed to be.
Ritsu: Magic Mirror?
Hmm this is kind of the only option I see fitting for her as it correlates to her role in canon. One classmate has to carry the mirror around for her to communicate, but she’s very powerful and helpful.
Itona: Mummy
Ok so storyline here: he was abandoned to die by his family centuries ago, and his 13 body was mummified against his will. In present time, Shiro awakens him, revives him, and uses him as a tool. He goes through a lot...but is able to live a peaceful life with 3-E once all that is over. He wears bandages almost everywhere, only exposing his eyes which glow yellow when he’s using his power.
Bonus:
Gakushuu is a Demi-God, of course. He’s pretty annoyed that his elemental magic only extends to hydrokinesis and cryokinesis, but he’s still amazingly talented.
Ren is a Merman who flirts with girls at the beach with sappy poetry. He’s gotten caught in a fisher net too many times.
Seo is an Ogre.

My decision to merge this blog with my daemon blog has got me thinking more deeply about how my stories/projects, mental state/mental health, and thoughtforms relate to each other and exactly how much I've blurred the lines between all three.
me getting ridiculously philosophical and overthinking my personal views on existence under the cut
also some stuff about daemons and Ghost and how they fit in with all this
I see my personal existence as something divided into multiple layers. These layers can affect each other, but the way they influence each other is not a 1:1 effect, and the influences generally move inward, or from the outside in.
There's the realm beyond my understanding or the "spiritual" realm. For me personally, that ultimately means God. To me, God exists and can influence any aspect of the next layer of reality that They want, whether They actually do or not. (This isn't a religious post and I'm not getting into it here, but it's relevant)
I'm not 100% sure of things that exist between God and my reality. I guess you could call that the spiritual realm or astral realm, the one where ghosts and spirits and demons and the like exist. It's something like, I don't necessarily believe in those things, but I will treat them with respect just in case and I'm open to being wrong about it, though that idea scares me.
Then there's my reality, which is the physical plane that we all exist on. Idk what else to say about it tbh. It's life as we know it. I kinda also put the internet in an in-between space in that my daemons and I can both directly and indirectly interact with. Y'know, 'cause internet.
The next layer to me, is what I call the Core. As described in my 'about' post, the Core is basically a geographical representation of my brain. It contains my hopes, dreams, fears, etc. and mostly reflects my mental health.
The final layer for me is the fictional world I've created for stories. This world doesn't really have a name, but it's basically what it says on the tin: It's the fictional universe that I created for stories to take place in. The characters there are exactly that: characters. Characters that I create and develop for the sake of their stories, and while they can mean a lot to me and are 'real' in the context of the world in which they live, they are ultimately fictional to me. They are unaware of my existence because though my Core and reality exist around them and can affect them, they are not actually part of the fictional reality.
Here's how I've blurred these lines for myself (specifically the ones connecting me, the Core and the fictional headworld) and why it's giving me a bit of an existential crisis, especially now that Ghost has been thrown into the mix.
Cairo, Agate, and Cobalt are daemons. They are my conscious/subconscious given a separate name and personality. In my mind, this makes them something like an extension of the Core. They are connected to it, they are a part of it (and part of me) but they cannot directly impact the Core in the way I can. They can also affect the fictional headworld, but generally don't since it's more my thing, and the world isn't 'real' to them in the way it is for the regular characters.
Because they're not corporeal, they can't directly affect my reality, though I can project them existing in it, and arguably they do interact with reality through me. The reverse is how I interact directly with the Core and fictional headworld through my 'sona, August.
And then there's Ghost.
The reason he kinda startled me is because there is another sort of 'in-between' state that exists between the Core and the fictional headworld. The beings that fall into this in-between state are aware of who I am as the creator and manager of their world, but can still interact and exist in the fictional world (tho generally they stay in the Core). I generally still call them 'characters' because they are aware of me only to the extent that I've designed them to, if that makes sense. I've made them to help manage some aspect of my mind/creative process, and that's generally their existence. They don't generally acknowledge my reality or the fact that I exist outside of August's presentation in the fictional headworld and Core (some of the older ones have some idea of my reality, but that's another story).
Ghost was originally another one of these 'in-between' characters, but when I went to develop a bit of backstory and some relationships for him in the Core, he basically looked me in the eye and said "yeah, we're not doing that."
While most of my characters have a 'mind of their own' and go in directions I didn't necessarily intend (most writers experience this), this is the first time a 'character' just directly spoke to me in the way that my daemons do. Ghost's understanding of who and what I am to both him and his existence is very different from that of the in-between characters, but he's also very different from my daemons.
Because he's not a daemon, he wasn't formed in/by the Core and doesn't have the same connection to it. however, because he fully knows who I am and my relation to his existence, he can't comfortably exist in the fictional headworld or Core on his own the way other characters can. Another issue is that the Core is under construction. Outside of the structure I call Home and Ghost's own house, there's nowhere to go and nothing to do. He is aware of my reality, but because he has no true connection to my Core thought processes and can't physically interact with my reality, he also isn't a fan of me projecting him following me around here the way I do with my daemons.
Which brings me to the present. Ghost's sudden self-awareness is kind of stressing me out. Because my existence alone can't sustain him the way it can my daemons, I need to actively give him time and attention that is separate from my day-to-day existence. Because he can really only exist in the Core, I'm having to scramble to make it functional, which generally consumes a lot of mental/creative energy. I think he will be ok and need far less devoted attention once the Core is less, uh, barren, but for now, I feel like I can't leave him alone too long because the emptiness freaks him out and makes him sad.
Thus, the development of the geographical representation of my brain is put on a rush order. To be honest, this isn't necessarily a bad thing. Because my big comic project revolves around rebuilding/fixing the Core, I've been needing to do this for a while now, so despite the urgency stressing me a bit, I guess this is a good thing? It's the reality we're both living with, so yeah, that's what I'm doing for now. At the very least, my daemons can help spend time with him in the Core when I can't. Really, my biggest obstacle with all this is the fact that I have the attention span of a goldfish. Working on it tho.
