I loved how Vader grabbing that ship out of the sky parallels him walking into the hangar in Hoth in time to see the Falcon escape. He doesn't try and grab it out of the sky that time because he's finally learnt the value of patience over blind rage.
The moment is also reminiscent of Ahsoka grabbing Maul out of the sky when he's trying to escape at the end of the Clone Wars, except she chooses to let him go and save Rex rather than gain victory over Maul. Interesting how shes had to unlearn her master's intense desire to win.
This episode also explains Vader telling Obi Wan in a New Hope that, the last time they fought, he was still 'a learner' because in this episode Obi Wan used his impatience and thirst for victory against him just as he had done during their training . Whereas, when they meet on the Death Star, he doesnt tear the station apart looking for him this time. He patiently waits for Obi Wan to reveal himself. The writing for Vader in particular this series has been amazing.
Shout out to the moment I was watching Rogue One for the first time and upon seeing Bail Organa thought "oh look! It's Bail! I wonder what happens since this is right before New Hope and he isn't in the originals" 0,03 seconds before he said he's going back to Alderaan because I had to pause the movie to process how fast I'm gonna go to hell for bursting into laughter.
