you'd think as someone who's knowingly been a lesbian for over 10 years i would've watched more than like, 4 lesbian movies by now, since there were more than a handful to choose from by that point and waaaaaaaaaaay more now.
and part of me thinks i should make it a new years resolution to watch more sapphic movies to experience the culture tm and feel those feelings.
but i also want to just go rewatch loving annabelle and call it a day.
#txt#like obviously representation was very important to me! and it still is!#but i think bc my baby gay journey began right when we started getting this explosion of rep...#rep almost got tainted for me bc i was on tumblr and it was this whole thing about You Need To Watch This Or You're Homophobic#or nitpicking everything slightly wrong with problematic representation etc and it became more of a chore#i appreciate representation i don't expect most i think. like k0rrasami happening?#instead of getting dragged into the show with the promise of rep it just... unfolded in something i was already interested in#i think representation has sorta unfolded in weird ways as well over the years since it's now profitable to queerbait and that#impacts how enjoyable/well written a thing is - see: why i love 90's subtext most bc of the authenticity of it#and i like to think maybe movies aren't as impacted by that when the focus is actually queer shit vs. shows needing to pull#people in for the long-term but idk. it's genuinely not something i've seen enough queer films to have a good idea of j;lksdkfj#i just want like. fun plots that happen to be gay and i think that desire kinda extinguishes the need to consume every piece#of queer media in existence even though i did very much have that pull at the start naturally#but of course. tumblr kinda ruined that for me at the time so now i'm 10 years in the future chilling surrounded by queer people#not having that sense of feeling alone and needing More#and i think it could be healing to check out those films (as Choice as they may be) but it's not a Need if that makes sense#ohhh and while i do get a hit of meaning from seeing any kind of lesbian rep bc the normalization etc#i just don't rly feel Seen in non age gap stuff? so that limits the amt of films that check all the boxes for me as opposed to#just being a 'normal' lesbian and most films automatically being a full course meal for u#so it almost feels like too much effort aj;lksldkjf#anyway. im grateful we're here now and we have so much i just have a complicated relationship with it all#and i wanna be able to just turn that off and try checking out lesbian films now that we do have so much#bc although i don't Need it necessarily it would be nice to actually explore now that i've ditched some of the toxic tumblr mindsets#(which also i now remember included being called problematic for watching the understandably problematic rep that came years before#which probs also explains why i stayed away so long from the old AND i was too poor/ill to go to theatres for the new)#so uhhh recs welcome? regardless of if there's age gaps or not lmao aj;klsdf#specifically for films not tv shows. ive fought that fight too long.

Watching people debate becoming "allies" with yellow jackets and wasps against spotted lantern flies is so frustrating because WHY are GROWN ADULTS so fucking bothered by wasps???? Like it or not you have to live with bugs. You are allies already because you exist and eat the food they fucking pollinated. It's a tiny insect.

sometimes media serves as an example of what NOT to do. now i say this thinking about a streamer committing too much time to an impossible task when he has more important things to do but genuinely this goes for a lot of media and people need to remember that
#people saying 'oh this character is a bad example' maybe that's the point.#a lot of the time a creator will write with the intention of saying 'hey see this? don't do this.' but you cant expect them to just SAY tha#a good writer's not gonna take the consumer aside and say that Thing Bad. it circles back to showing not telling#if the character doing Bad Thing ends up facing consequences for their actions it's safe to say that the author thinks Thing Bad!#i have ocs who smoke but i would never smoke myself nor encourage others to. eventually these ocs quit smoking late in the narrative#but one of them has to realize how his smoking negatively affects his relationships before he makes the decision to quit#for a majority of the story he happily smokes and sees nothing wrong with it nor does the rest of the main cast say much abt it#a lot of the ocs in this story are bad examples one way or another. in fact one is an abuser but he eventually gets what he deserves#a person could create bigoted characters that may not even be antagonists but that does not mean they themself are bigoted#it's important to look at the writing surrounding a character before claiming the creator is glorifying or supports the character's actions#but apparently some people just dont do that i guess! like idk ive heard things#if i were to write a story about queerness it would NOT be happy feel-good everyone is supportive rainbow utopia. there WOULD be queerphobe#simply because i want to reflect my experience. would the queerphobes change? probably not! doesnt mean i agree with them#whoopsie i went on a tangent. didnt even mean to haha

I hate being a good person in this bad dunya, I want to be as selfish as everyone else. This must be the only way not to get your heart broken..
Keep being a kind person, your reward will not be with the people, it will be with Allah swt. Imagine the reward if you get hurt all the time and still remain soft. Remember our Prophets peace be upon them, they were thrown into the fire, imprisoned, thrown at with stones and still remained good and with clear intentions.
Life would be easier with a selfish heart and an egoistic mind but الله swt. created you as a soft being, maybe one of those good deeds you have done with your soft heart will be your key to Jannah. Kheir in sha Allah. Remain kind my dear sister, there are not plenty, but know that every single one will be cherished and rewarded.

i know a lot of people get mad at it but tbh shin really looks out for the heroine in spade and diamond route.
#❛     𝐒𝐈𝐃𝐄 𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐒    ⧽    —   ooc.#I SAID. WHAT I SAID.#people absolutely despise him in ikk.i's route which is honestly fair if thats how you feel im never gonna be like HOW DARE YOU#but the reality is is that while shins words are very cruel in certain parts ( cannot deny that and he should apologise for them )#at the same time. ik.ki was currently flirting with other women openly and not just “for work” and then he was also lumped in to having an#extra shift because a girl couldnt come into work as she was rejected by him. i would be mad too ...#but also like. at near the end of the route he makes a point to actively help them out which is his way of showing his support for them#like ... as a friend the way he looks out for the heroine is rlly remarkable.#its the same with diamond world bc for context. shin has done A LOT to help the heroine and her love for toma for this route#shins been papparazi#probs had to go round his face and find out random facts#he's always round toma's it just happens#but like. he actively gets involved when he starts to notice things aren't right and tom.a's getting restrictive#like he actively takes that role to help the heroine out. as a friend thats a really incredible thing to do#and SEE HAPPEN#it gives a good message despite the countless bad ones that surround it.#shin ONLY gets concerned when things dont feel right for him. and he backs off when hes proven wrong. hes genuinely got a soft heart ...#I PROMISE.#anyway. ull never guess whos character page ive done today--- FGSGFDGS i got lost in playthrough vids bc i forgot some of the events in#joker world so may have to revise that part#but we will see#i forgot how difficult bios are im ngl people who do them all in like a week are incredible mine are taking me literally 4+ hours and they#dont even look like 4 hours of work. gonna do my pages a lil diff tomorrow to see if that helps and then go from there somehow#TBD.#im emotional its 2:30am and im emotional about shin again 2022 is coming back to me

People "putting their own spin" on characters who've been described is arrogant and insulting to the creator who made them. They're not their characters. Make their own damn characters of they don't like the ones who exist. It's so unbelievably disrespectful and rude. How dare they insult someone else's design and dream like that? Creators care about their characters, they don't want randos ruining them. It's absolutely hideous. Nobody has the right to misrepresent someone else's dream or character or idea. It's just so repellent.
sorry you hate fun idk what to tell you

I think it’s kinda a shame how far zombies got from their source material
Don’t get me wrong, I like the way that they evolve over time reflects the fears of the people in that time period, but I still wish there was more of a connection to its source
So (this is just a really quick recap but I encourage everyone to go read up on more of it), zombies originated from Haiti (specifically Haitian slaves), and they weren’t violent, they were corpses reanimated against their will to continue being slaves, and the fear surrounding them was about becoming one, having your restful sleep stolen from you, and not being able to have that peace in death because of some jackass with magic
And yeah nowadays there’s a fear in being bitten, but idk, it’s less about the fear of becoming part of the horde and more about the fear of being torn apart by the horde, it’s not like how werewolves agonize over being werewolves, and I think it should be more like werewolves
Like even when a person has been bitten and is slowly becoming a zombie, it’s not really framed from their perspective of the fear of losing themselves and not being able to rest in peace, it’s always framed from the perspective of their loved one coming to terms that they may have to kill them to protect themselves
“Oh hell is full so that’s why the dead roam the earth” those are good people!!! who had their eternal rest robbed from them!!!!
I just. I just wish that killing a zombie was more about having mercy on them

do you think Falin's chimerism would affect her lifespan and behaviors? or just her body? maybe she can make more animalistic noises or has vague dragon-like instincts?
that’s a really good question! I think we could probably figure this out by taking a look at what we know about Falin, what we know about red dragons, whether these things would apply to Falin, and go from there.
The obvious external changes Falin has are: her eyes, her teeth, and her feathers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s hard to pin down what Falin is like! Throughout the duration of the manga, she wasn’t really a character so much as a plot device. We have almost nothing told from her point of view, and the majority of her unbiased (as in, we’re seeing her through a neutral lens and not another character’s perception of her) characterization is from the post-canon omake.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even Falin believes that her wanderlust might come from her dragon side, but she's not sure. Personally, I think it’d make a lot of sense if it kind of does, in the sense that she has 20/20 vision now, haha! For most of her life, she could probably only see clearly within a relatively small sphere surrounding her, and now she can see everything. She can look up and around freely in a way she couldn’t before. Fuck man, if I had magic lasik I’d probably go out more too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some other quirks that are really unclear whether it’s typical for Falin or chimera-influenced:
she enters rooms through windows, sometimes. And given the leaves in her hair, I think it’s reasonable to assume this is not the first floor 💀 But who knows! Maybe that’s not new for Falin.
She points out that Laios’s scent could deter monsters. Maybe she has enhanced smell. But again, it isn’t unreasonable to think this is something she would have said before. (I think even Chilchuck and Izutsumi, whose senses of smell are enhanced, can’t identify scents well. Kuro, however, can.)
VIOLENCE! But again, we’ve seen her beat shit with her staff before, and she also used to wield a flail. It IS a trait for red dragons to fight any large threat, so if anything, she’s got even better monster fighting instincts than before. I don't think this would carry over to people. Falin has always been better with people, and I'm personally not a fan of seeing her depicted as territorial or possessive. Marcille is already the possessive one, and didn't need dragon blood to be like that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ultimately, I don't think her dragon traits extend much farther beyond this. Especially when you consider How Little the dragon is represented as in her conscience.
Tumblr media
it's not like it's a 50/50 split. She's like a person with a dragon ratatouille. I don't think she'd be able to make dragon noises. I don't think her body is built for that. I know there's like, a set list of tropey characteristics that are given to almost every non-human character in fiction. and sure that's FINE but they tend not to be especially personalized to the character, and tend to just be an excuse to write them OOC. Like, sure, dragons may have instincts regarding sleep habits, hunting, courting, raising young, etc etc, but so do humans! And we don't compulsively act on every instinctual whim we have. I don't see why it'd be any harder for her new dragon instincts.
If anything, I think she'd feel more affected by the fact that she has part of the demon in her.
Tumblr media
I don't think Falin's in any sort of trouble. All the demon was was a way to communicate with people. Here, it's representing Falin's tether to the infinite realm, to mana itself. The winged lion no longer has the desire to consume anymore because, yknow, Laios has that now. This is very likely why she no longer needs to chant to cast magic.
But what else does this mean for her? She already had unusually high reserves of mana + an innate connection with spirits, but is her mana essentially limitless now? How would that affect her lifespan? I'm leaning towards, it wouldn't really?? But is she immune to mana sickness now? Is it more like her magic is just sort of amplified like it would be in a dungeon?
We can infer that having more mana doesn't increase your lifespan, because-- while elves and gnomes have both naturally high levels of mana and longer lifespans-- dwarves live longer but have lowest levels of mana of all.
So to answer your question! Maybe a little bit?? But I don't think she'd change a whole lot.

this is one is important as fuck i see so many people not understand this and it drives me crazy
"Sburb ruins, mythic challenges, and personal quests generally tend to come off as shallow busywork, stage props, or set pieces in a spurious Hero's Journey. Rose either faintly glimpses this truth at this early stage, or she's just hitting her rebellious teen stride. Either way, she doesn't take the surface value of the quest seriously at all, and only wants to smash it apart and loot the secrets. My sense is that the average reader reacts to this impulse unfavorably. Because readers watch the formula play out so often, they are trained heavily to respect the journey of the hero, to anticipate and crave its fulfillment, to see it as something verging on contractual in their relationship with a story. So a gut-response to this recklessness is like, "ROSE, NO! STOP THAT! You simply must complete your quest and play the rain!" What comes with this view is the feeling that her evolution as a character is only being delayed for a bit while she gets some anti-narrative foolishness out of her system, and then we'll get down to business and watch her do her quest, play a whole BUNCH of rain, and reap the narrative satisfaction. There's just one problem: she never does that. This candy-coated Kiddie Kwest is at no point ever taken seriously by Rose or the narrative itself, nor should it be.
When trying to parse character arcs, we look out for certain beacons. So when we hear "play the rain," we're like, ah, GOT IT. That's Rose's arc. Once she finally gets over this destructive teen bullshit, she can wise up, play the rain, and her arc will be finished. Wrong. This is almost a red herring arc. Her quest on this planet, its patronizing presentation, its intrinsic shallowness, is a mirage surrounding her that represents a fully regimented series of milestones for achievement and personal growth, much as society dubiously presents to young people in many forms. The true arc-within-the-arc is actually an upside-down version of what it appears to be. What Rose is doing now, which seems to be misguided recklessness taking her further away from the truth of herself, is actually better seen as a good start to her real journey: breaching the mirage of regimented growth, exposing it for the charade it is, and pulling the truth out of it. The real conflict in her arc comes not from the fact that she refuses to take it seriously, by destroying it and taking shortcuts. It's the opposite. It's that, upon trashing her planet, she continues to have this nagging sense that she should be taking this quest seriously, much like how a young adult may have a nagging sense of guilt that they aren't "being an adult right" by the time they approach adulthood. And this nagging, unanswerable guilt arises from the truth that the regimentation of adulthood is completely fake. It was always a mirage. Learning this, making peace with it, is part of the growing process for many, and it is for her too." -Andrew Hussie
intrinsically queer as fuck, too, btw

Venus in houses
Venus signifies love, beauty, relationships, art, aesthetics, and harmony in astrology. It also represents how we express affection and what we're attracted to.
These post are general and won't resonate 100% because we have to consider other aspects too.
For entertainment purposes only!
