the weather was sunny and birds were signing. people were all over campus, scattered everywhere like ants. you looked up from sungie’s phone every now and then to check your surroundings; appreciating the world. but then something caught your attention — a guy making his way up to you. your hand went up to cover your eyes from the sunshine, not noticing the piece of paper he was walking with. “hello…” he uttered quietly, causing heeseung to put his phone away, “hi?” the guy’s cheeks were turning redder by the second, “i- i just wanted to ask for your number… i think you’re cute.” before you had the chance to answer, heeseung took your hand into his and gave him a death stare, “she’s taken.”

JAY

you felt so bad for the guy in front of you whose hands were trembling, causing the paper with his confession to shake. not because he was embarrassing himself, but because jay was only a mere metres away watching it all unfold. your eyes travelled back and forth between the two before you apologised, “i’m sorry, jihoon, i can’t accept this…” the look in his eyes made your heart break, but you knew better. “is… is it something t-that i did?” you were quick to deny his comment, shaking your head, “no, not at all, you’re a great guy, but… i’m with someone else.” jay was still focused on the situation you were occupied with, his eyes never leaving you.

jihoon’s head hung low as he disappeared from your sight, giving you a bad feeling in your gut. a hand caressed your cheek, “good girl, i’m so proud of you.” your hand went up to hold his wrist as your eyes looked into his, “he was really sweet though…” your words cut his heart, “no.” the hand that held your cheek so softly went to grab your face instead, pushing his fingers into it and causing you to pout. you shouldn’t have said that… “don’t think about other people like that, you’re mine, you belong to me.”

JAKE

you were standing by your locker, checking the schedule to make sure you were bringing the right material when a familiar boy approached you. he was quiet at first and carefully tapped your shoulder to get your attention, “y/n?” it was jihoon — a guy from homeroom and someone who you’d gotten to know better recently as your teacher had assigned new seats. he was sweet, maybe even a bit handsome, but with jake floating around in the shape of hearts in your brain for most of the day, you didn’t really care. “i just wanted to say that i think you’re very pretty… and that i-“

the two of you were interrupted by jake throwing his arm around your shoulders, looking at the other boy with condescending eyes. “who do we have here then?” you knew he only did that to show off; to show him that you were his and that he would never get a chance. you smiled happily, unwrapping his arm from your shoulders and taking his hand into yours, “this is jihoon, he’s in my class.” his grip on your hand tightened as jihoon stood in front of you awkwardly, occasionally making eye contact with the floor. “well, it’s very nice to meet you, jihoon, but i have to disappoint you that she’s taken.”

SUNGHOON

he wanted to rip the boy’s head off and leave him to die as soon as he saw him talking to you, joking around and lightly bumping your shoulder. sadly, you were in class and he couldn’t do much about it without causing trouble. his hand gripped tightly on the pencil while fury became visible in his eyes. you on the other hand had no idea how he felt about another guy interacting with you.

the bell rang and jaehyuk, the boy, stopped you before you could leave. sunghoon was waiting patiently by his desk, not wanting to disturb what was happening. “uh, i just wanted to know if you’d like to go watch a movie someday? maybe this saturday?” your furrowed brows went back to their regular state, knowing you would have to let him down. “i- i have a boyfriend, jae…” you could cut a knife through the tension that formed in the air, “oh… i’m sorry, i didn’t-“ he paused, “i didn’t know.” a smile crept onto sunghoon’s lips, you were so good for him. but he also took that as his cue to make himself known. “hello,” his arm went around your waist, pulling you into his side, “are you ready to go?” it was sure to say that jaehyuk stopped talking to you for a while after that </3

SUNOO

you were sitting in the cafeteria with sunoo, talking about whatever came to mind, as people turned into buzzing noise around you. but your little private bubble suddenly popped when a few guys came up to you, one boy standing in front of the others. you thought they wanted to talk to jihyo on your table, not you. couldn’t they see you were busy and in love? apparently not. “y/n, i want to ask you out on a date.” a light tint of red covered your cheeks, a feeling of hotness overwhelming your nerves, making you shiver, “i-“ sunoo grabbed your hand and answered for you, “she’s taken.”

the boys went out of the cafeteria, reassuring the brave one that it was gonna be fine. you looked back at sunoo, your eyes gazing deep into his, “thank you.” a whisper left your lips and he smiled happily as he rubbed his thumb against your hand. sunoo was the best thing that could’ve happened in your life and you were immensely grateful (even though some people thought that sunoo was the bad guy). “anything for you, angel.”

NIKI

there was no way the rest of the students didn’t know about your relationship. niki pushed it into everyone’s faces whenever he could. you never understood why, but you guessed he only wanted to show off, to make everyone jealous. but your relationship was like everyone else’s — the occasional fights, the make-ups, the late-night talks. in some eyes, niki was considered to be mentally ill, but he loved you. everything he did was for you.

so when the new guy came to town and asked you out on a date, obviously not knowing about your relationship with niki, anxiety filled your veins. “i’m sorry,” your head turned over your shoulder, making sure niki wasn’t anywhere near you, “i can’t.” he would go feral if he saw some other guy talking to you. “why?” the boy’s tone was confused, maybe even a bit worried. “i have a…” but there he was, at the end of the corridor, eyes locked with yours. “a boyfriend.” you smiled his way, giving him a wave to reassure him. the boy in front of you turned around, “ah… so, that’s him?” niki pressed his lips against your forehead when he came up to you, “my baby, how are you?” your hands went to stroke his forearms as you introduced him to the guy, “this is chan, he’s new.” niki reached out a hand for him to shake, trying to seem friendly yet his hidden urges, “welcome.”

poor jiyu felt like she was going to pee her pants from how nervous she felt. they hadn’t even performed yet and she already felt out of breath.

but what she found funny was that she had to use formalities and bow to Stray Kids and The Boyz when she had friends (and a boyfriend) there

“oi, felix!”

poor seonghwa had to remind jiyu and wooyoung that stray kids were technically their sunbaes

catching sunwoo’s eyes, she smiled and sent him an air kiss

his face lit up like a christmas tree 🥺

he pretended to catch the kiss mid-air before patting his cheek to mimic putting the caught kiss there

sangyeon witnessed the exchange and a small, fond smile spread across his face.

unlike wooyoung who pretended to gag

Jiyu giggled. “I may have a soft spot for him...but that won’t change my attitude when performing. He probably thinks the same—we’ll play fair and square.”

seeing BTOB, she almost squealed out of pure excitement

she ended up grabbing onto seonghwa’s hands, the said man also growing excited over the senior idol group

she ended up officially becoming the show’s baby when BTOB narrowed her down as the youngest idol there

jiyu almost fainted from how tall SF9 were

“i’m literally going to be an elf next to them.”

“I actually remember Jiyu-ssi,” Changmin pointed out to the staff members when he and Yunho were getting interviewed. They were currently watching ATEEZ’s performance. “She was in our company for a while and I remember seeing her practice with the Rookies. She’s a really talented dancer.”

“She’s strong in singing and and rapping, too,” Yunho added. “I’m excited to see how she’s grown.”

“gLObal vOtEs aRe 40 pErCenT?!”

“and the winning team of the introduction stage will be receiving a 1,000 point benefit, and the opportunity to choose the order for the first mission.”

cue her internally screaming at the huge benefit

she couldn’t even fully calm down before they announced the start of the introduction stages.

she went numb when iKON chose them to go first

but like yunho’s wise words, “it’s good to suffer first.”

sunwoo and eric literally started shouting their encouragements to her right before their performance started

poor sangyeon had to calm them down

unlike their rehearsals, their actual performance sailed pun intended smoothly with no major mistakes

and when jiyu ended with the torch,

instant KO for everyone just queen things

she kept internally apologizing to hongjoong and yunho for stepping on them

“Actually for the ending...” Jiyu reminisced her performance, “I actually slipped a little when climbing on top of Hongjoong and Yunho. Luckily I managed to regain my balance, but I just feel sorry since I could’ve hurt one of them. And I felt bad that it might’ve messed up our performance.”

everyone literally fawned over her after they saw her perform

sunwoo literally couldn’t take his eyes off of jiyu at the top of the formation. his eyes were so sparkly :((

he wanted to run down and hug her for a job well done so bad

but he sufficed with sending her an air kiss of his own and two thumbs up

“What did you think of ATEEZ’s performance?”

“Sunwoo literally couldn’t take his eyes off of them...or rather one person,” Hyunjae teased. Considering how the couple was now public, his members definitely didn’t hold back on the teasing. Even the staff members knew about it.

“But we were already entranced from the beginning, so they really good,” Sangyeon commented.

“Sunwoo-ssi, how did it feel seeing Jiyu-ssi perform?”

Sunwoo felt his cheeks redden. “It’s a side of her that I don’t often see...so I really enjoyed the performance...”

for the rest of the performances, jiyu literally turned off idol-mode and went into fangirl mode

“what kind of puberty hit felix for him to sound like that?”

poor girl was about to cry when SF9 literally started model walking

“it feels illegal to watch them perform for free...”

she sent him a heart when he passed by to return to his seat

it was caught on camera and it was such a wholesome moment

literally got re-energized watching iKON

she felt like she was honestly just there to jam out

snuck around backstage after filming to interact with her friends

and sunwoo who affectionately ruffled her hair while praising her for a job well done :(((

she honestly wasn’t too bothered when they were announced as 5th place

she smirked. “we can use this determination to fuel our next performance”

she was nicknamed “kingdom’s baby” by fans after the episode aired

and deobtinys couldn’t get enough of sunji’s interactions

but overall,

she was just really grateful for all of the members of every group since she was the only girl there and she was kind of scared of getting judged or underestimated

they just babied her instead :D

A WEEK LATER

You filed into a conference room with a few other people, looking much older, more experienced and higher ranking. They were dressed formally too - crisply pressed suits, and accessorized with grey hair, scars and wrinkles. You on the other hand in a white cotton shirt and beige trousers looked like a complete new beansprout.

The gentlemen in the room also gave you curious looks, wondering who you were and what you were doing in a space no wolf of your age usually entered. You kept your eyes on the blank whiteboard in front of you, hoping for a quiet glimpse around at everyone’s faces, but to your dismay, you yourself were the centre of attention. Without disturbing your carefully set poker face, you looked up, and met each of their gazes and then looked back at the board. If they were taken aback by your bearing, no one revealed it. The door opened and in walked four congressmen, each of them with files of their own, followed by a formally suited, charming young wolf who seemed to be a secretary of sorts. The young wolf passed around some files to everyone seated, and introduced himself,

“Good evening, everyone. I’m Jimin, an alpha-ranked wolf from the Park clan. We’re gathered here today at the request of Congressman Jeon and Congressman Bang. Before we begin, can we have a round of introductions?” Everyone nodded, and started off.

“I’m Kang Minhyuk, retired Alpha of the Incheon Kang clan”, a guttural voiced man stated. “Yi Sunshin, Head of Pack Law, Gwangju Jung” a portly man said, followed by a woman “Rhee Jinguk, Lead Enforcer, Injoo Yang clan” , and a distinguished deep voiced man introducing himself as “Kim Hyunjin, Alderman, Gwacheon Kim clan”. All eyes turned to me as I calmly introduced myself, “ Song Y/N, Tracker, Gangwon Jeon clan”. Not so surprising to see raised eyebrows, you thought. If I were a distinguished senior wolf, I’d wonder what someone like me were doing here too.

“And I am Bang Sihyuk, and these are Jeon Subin, Han Kiseok and Jung Dowoon, from the Congress. We’ve invited you all concerning a set of disappearances that we wanted you to investigate.” The chubbiest of the congressmen stated.

Raised eyebrows and a few sharp inhales of breath could be heard across the room. “Three young children were taken from their homes over the past year.”

This was serious. What was Grandpa Jeon thinking? What were you, a greenhorn, doing here?

You didn’t know how you made it past those last days in Jeju.

You had stayed behind at the request of Grandpa Jeon. Most of the clans’ visitors had left save for some high ranking clan elders - they usually took this opportunity to gather, hobnob or discuss things. Jungkook stayed behind too, since he and Grandpa Jeon would be traveling back to Busan together. The last couple of days in Jeju were pleasantly hectic - Jungkook’s wide variety of activities kept you both running around, and that perceptive boy made it a point to involve you as much as he could.

As you waited in the guesthouse cafeteria, the idle time allowed a stream of unwanted thoughts to come pouring back in.

Namjoon - his searing gaze on you... The mark on his neck… Somin hanging off his arm… his dismissal of you

Your solitude felt amplified by the fact that someone who should have been there was conspicuously absent. Your wolf mourned the loss, and wanted to rip Somin's throat out. Though solitude was all you knew, it never felt like loss magnified as it did now. And that was the truth of it.

You shook your head roughly, and forcibly shifted your attention outward - to your surroundings. Mulling over what was already done was a recipe for prolonging pain. Your eyes skimmed over the trees waving in the breeze, the earth damp after the rains, a couple of workers mowing the lawns, the barista brewing coffee near you. The soft padding of feet alerted you to Grandpa Jeon’s approach.

You stood to acknowledge him with a quiet smile, which he returned, settling in the armchair opposite yours. A waiter came forward and took your coffee orders. Your gaze went back to the elder’s face as you quietly considered each other.

Grandpa Jeon was a hefty, distinguished looking man - the strong brow, jaw and frame typical of the Jeons withstood his ageing and kept him going through out his distinguished career - from pack leader to clan head, to an alderman and eventually, a national congressman. His style was simple - he’d take the smartest possible route, and avoid chaos wherever he could. You could see the gears in his head turning as he regarded you as well.

“How are you doing, Y/N?”

“Good, Grandpa Jeon” you reply - a polite greeting kind of response, not the actual condition of your state.

He was quiet for a few moments, as the waiter returned with your coffee orders, and both of you sipped thoughtfully. Grandpa Jeon considered you quietly, and eventually broke the pregnant silence with, “How much do you know about true matings?”

He HAD to dive right in. Rub it in some more, why doesn’t he?

“A lot of my knowledge is informal. I know a little from a healer’s perspective, but my training is incomplete.” When Grandpa Jeon nodded, you continued, “They’re really rare, but as a pair, they tend to form an instantaneous attachment that often leads to claiming. The only thing that would prevent it would be if the individuals in question already claimed a partner. Any children borne from a true mated couple are healthier, stronger, higher ranked and longer lived in general.”

“Do you know how true mates interact?”

“When they’re in close proximity, they stay acutely aware of their partner’s state - mood, health, body language, anything. It’s been glorified as a near metaphysical link. That was how it felt for me as well.”

“That, for one, is true for a pair of true mates even if they do not consummate their mating”, Grandpa Jeon stated, causing you to pause. So regardless if Namjoon has Somin, and maybe I find someone in the future if I’m lucky, we’re going to have each other on our minds? Grandpa Jeon must have seen the look on your face, when he quickly added, “That happens only when you’re in close physical proximity”. Oh, thank Lupa.

“But what is a more pressing matter for you to consider, my dear, is the heat that follows”, he continued heavily. Your eyes widened. “B-But heats and ruts occur once a claiming is consummated into a mating, isn’t it? Why would it affect me, when I’m unattached?”

“For true mates, it goes a little differently. To begin with, what do you know about a heat or a rut?”

“They’re the most virile and fertile phases of each partner. While every wolf starts their cycles once puberty hits, the cycle itself becomes potent after claiming and mating. A claiming causes the cycles of both partners to sync up, and the odds of conceiving are the highest at this time.”

“That’s the textbook definition. In most mated pairs, the chosen mate kind, their heat/rut cycles are barely obvious to everyone else except to the strongest of noses. You’ll merely notice them acting extra temperamental and hormonal around each other and everyone else - not very different from a woman’s PMS, if you will.” You nodded, all of this being familiar to you.

Grandpa Jeon sighed and continued, “But for true mates, it is rather different. You’ve noticed how visceral your reaction to Namjoon is, and that’s how your interactions typically will be. Imagine how that heightens a heat between mates then!”

“What you need to understand is, for a pair of true mates, their heats and ruts will sync up whether they consummate it or not. It’s believed this is Lupa’s, or rather Nature’s way of ensuring, or rather forcing a consummation between the ideal couple.”

You sat in stunned silence, as the weight of what he said sank in.

“Proximity will have an impact, but usually, the unmated partner in the pair has it worst. Your heat is no longer a gentle hormonal upswing. It straight up causes you to fall ill, weakens your judgement and leaves you vulnerable to just about any sexual encounter.”

“There are medical ways to manage the intensity, but you will end up needing help. Namjoon has Somin to help him through. We need to figure out how to help YOU”

You leaned back into the armchair in silence, looking out of the cafeteria. Tears gathered at the back of your eyes that you tried to blink away. It was so, so unfair. You had already let go of someone meant for you, and now had to walk around your home being acutely aware of someone who wasn’t yours anymore, and would face the brunt of the consequences of the failed mating, putting you in acute danger.

“It’s going to be hard”, Grandpa Jeon spoke again after giving you a moment. “But let’s think of how we can make it better for you. How do you feel about traveling?”

You looked at him sharply, “Are you trying to get me to leave the clan? Am I that disposable?” “NO!” he countered, “I’m trying to find you a way out BECAUSE you matter. Y/N, you’re a highly skilled tracker, and training as a healer and medic as well. You’re adaptable and very intelligent. Very few people have this combination of abilities that you do. This is probably insensitive of me, but think of your orphaned state as license to be free, not perpetually tied down to a pack and people that will only cause you pain down the line. If Somin were your blood sibling, would you be able to cut off ties with your blood family to find peace? Or stay at Gangwon for their sake and endure the pain in silence?

Please, think about yourself.”

You hated how much sense he made. You hated how, in putting the family you owed everything to first, you were now facing consequences that hurt you more than you bargained for. You also hated how, being an orphan, taking you out of the equation was the most obvious option for everyone. But, it seemed to be the only road out.

You took a deep breath, and looked at the elder. “Will I still be considered a member of the clan, or is that going to change too?”

“You will always be a member of the clan, unless you initiate the change yourself at some point”

“So what would you have me do now?”

“You can use your talents differently. As a Congressman, I’m a part of my family, but no longer an active member of my clan, for I serve the nation itself. The Wolves' Congress values ability and advocates neutrality. Why don’t you head to Seoul to work for us? Your skills can come of use anywhere nationwide, and you can take this time to think about how you want your future to go.”

Grandpa Jeon had been as helpful as he had promised. Once you headed back to Gangwon, you packed up most of your possessions, and bid everyone goodbye. A lot of clan members were miffed that you weren’t staying for Somin and Namjoon’s mating ceremony. Grandpa Jeon’s assignment orders indicated an urgency no one could contest.

Namjoon luckily wasn’t there at Gangwon - he’d had to head back to his home clan to prepare for the transition he would eventually deal with point mating and a host of other official matters. Somin in her anger refused to speak to you when she heard you were leaving, except for a tearful goodbye towards the end, as you climbed into the jeep that had been provided for you. And just like that, in less than a week, your life had turned 180, and you were leaving the only home you had ever known, to an uncertain future.

You stayed lost in thought as your jeep sped across the hilly countryside, forests making way for farmlands, and the occasional village dotting the landscape. Your stops were carefully planned, as there were plenty of human villages and towns you passed, and wolves weren't always well received. You needed to let your antsy wolf out to help her settle and get used to the rapid pace of change wooshing through. You were looking forward to the next stop when your driver, a middle aged wolf, turned to tell you that a message had come in, and a detour was necessary to pick someone up. You nodded, trying to calm your restless wolf even further. Her tension stretched taut through you as your driver changed course, heading southward into the countryside.

A good few hours later, your jeep had entered a small town, and coursed through its alleys before stopping at an obscure motel. “Are we stopping for long here?” you asked. “No Ma’am, we’re just picking someone up.” You nodded, and said “ Wait here, I’ll pick up some coffee and food in that case.” You hurried off to the motel’s restaurant, and came back with a flask full of hot coffee and a set of sandwiches; it was an easy excuse for a jeep sitting in a motel parking lot.

It was a good hour later that your new co-passengers turned up running - two grown men and a teenage boy between them. They scrambled hurriedly into your jeep, stuffing themselves awkwardly between the piles of your bags in the back seat and urged your driver to step on it. And you were speeding away.

You smelt blood, and realised they must have been in some kind of encounter. So you turned, and said “In case you gentlemen need it, there’s a first aid kit under the back seat, and I happen to have some medical knowledge. Anyone needs patching up?” As you gaze moved among the three, you realised one of them was familiar.

His ear was bleeding, as was a cut on his collarbone. As your eyes met, a flash of recognition came across his face, followed by a grimace due to the jostling vehicle. The other man and the teenage boy looked roughed up but not as hurt as this man.

“ The two of us are ok, but once we've driven further down, would you look at my friend’s cuts?” the other man spoke up. “I’m Hoseok, Jung Hoseok. This is Min Yoongi” he indicated the man from the cafe, “and this is Yeonjun”. “Song Y/N" you introduced yourself.

The jeep stopped for a short while on the highway as Mr. Jung and you switched places. You climbed into the back seat and pulled one of your bags out to remove a first aid kit, and handed a torchlight to Yeonjun to hold. You moved to examine the cuts with a frown.

Why isn’t Mr Min healing already?

You got your answer as you scented aconite on his wounds. This was bad. Shards of glass were embedded into his collar and shoulder, and his ear had a nasty cut. You cautioned your driver to drive as smoothly as possible, as you attempted to extract the larger shards from his cuts. Mr Min looked exhausted, but stayed stoic as you removed most of the shards, and tossed them out. You unwrapped some gauze, placed some slices of a medicated jelly and slapped it onto his collar wounds, covering them up.

The formula smelt a little, causing him to crunch his nose as he looked at you questioningly. “It’s a general antidote made of reconstituted bezoar stones in an agar base” you explained “It’ll help absorb the poison in your wound so we can get you healing like you normally should. He nodded and you continued your work. Once you had more or less bandaged him up, you closed your kit and sat back, your gaze flitting between the three men. Yeonjun and Mr. Min had dozed off in their exhaustion, while Mr. Jung was busy texting furiously on his phone.

You weren’t sure if you were allowed to pry, so you stayed quiet for the rest of the journey. When Mr. Jung had finished texting, you passed him the coffee and one of the sandwiches you’d picked up. The driver opted for just coffee, choosing to power through the long drive. It was in the wee hours of the morning the next day when your jeep pulled over behind a large building in Seoul, where Mr. Jung, Mr. Min and Yeonjun got off. Mr. Min looked at you gratefully and nodded in thanks. You replied with a smile, and your jeep sped off again into the city.

It took you a couple of days to settle in and sleep off the exhaustion of the trip, and luckily, the rooms you got were close to a neglected park that was overgrown enough for the public to avoid. Your wolf insisted on rolling around everywhere in your new place till it felt like home, and marked her attendance in the park bushes that night.

Cities weren’t designed for werewolves - they preferred the wide open spaces and dense forests of the countryside. If they had to, they picked smaller, greener suburbs, but for many ranking wolves, cities were inevitable - given that Seoul especially was the seat of government, for humans, wolves and other beings too. You had to find your way around the city, and see how you and your wolf can adapt to an urban lifestyle, and maybe even practice tracking and medicine differently.

As you lay in your new bed in your new home in this new city, you wondered where life would take you now, and hoped Grandpa Jeon would do right by you.

While you lay at home, musing at the turn of events in your life, a few miles away, Min Yoongi was being cleared for returning home at one of the small clinics werewolves frequented in the city. His healer had marvelled at the reconstituted bezoar gel you’d used, as it had taken out most of the aconite from his system. He was back on normal healing track, but his ear and shoulder was still sore. Which was why he was giving his partner, Hoseok, a one-armed hug as the other man cried tears of happiness into his normal shoulder. “I can’t believe I’m finally a father” he sniffed. News had come in from Hoseok’s home clan, alerting him of his little girl’s birth just as they had returned from their operation.

Yeonjun was in safe custody letting both men breathe for a while. “Look how lovely my little girl is!” Hoseok exclaimed, tears streaming down his face as he shoved his cellphone in Yoongi’s face. Yoongi hummed, continuing patting his hyper friend’s back.

“Take a proper break, and go look after your mate and little girl”, he told the sobbing man. “You’re a workaholic but they need you.” Hoseok nodded tearfully and hugged Yoongi again.

Yoongi was really happy for his friend. He looked forward to meeting the new little cub, and hoped she wouldn’t take after his crybaby partner. He also wondered if he’d be able to take a break too - he didn’t work as well with anyone else as he did Hoseok.

His mind went to his hometown, to what lay in wait for him, and he sighed. That was another mountain to climb and a new ditch to dig. Your face popped into his mind as well. He glanced at his healing shoulder, thought about his chance acquaintance with you, and hoped you were doing fine, especially given what he knew you'd gone through.

Tomorrow was another day, and hopefully, a better one.

The New One (1)

Pairing: Changkyun x reader

Genre: Crack, High school au.

Word count: 1375

A/N: Yes, I’m starting a new Monsta x series. I’m actually excited for this one, I like what I did so far. Let me know what you think !! :)

“Today class we’re welcoming a new stud—“ The words just fade in the background as I concentrate more on the leaves falling from the huge trees outside our classroom. From the third floor, just by the window, I had the perfect view. I couldn’t wait for my senior year, when I’m finally gonna be on the fourth floor, now that’s gonna be amazing. My eyes move to the courtyard and I see my best friend Hyungwon coming in running his face all red. I smile lightly thinking about his dumbass oversleeping like usual, even on the first day back, this guy has no exception.

“Y/N !!” I snap back and stand up quickly, looking at my professor with huge eyes.

“Y—Yes?”

“I asked you to raise your hand multiple times ! Because Hyungwon is late again, Changkyun will take his place.”

“Ah.. But I just saw him running in..” I weakly point out the window.

“He’s gonna have to go by the attendance office anyway to get a pass, so he won’t be here for another five minutes. Too bad for him. Changkyun go sit next to Y/N.”

“Ugh..” I say more annoyed at my professor, but I can see a slight sorry look on the new boy’s face.

“Plus it wouldn’t be so bad to separate you two.” He mumbles starting to get the textbooks together.

“Whatever.” I mumble back.

“Hi..” Changkyun sits next to me embarrassed and obviously extremely uncomfortable.

“Hi.” I say maybe a little more cold than I wanted.

The door soon opens on a out of breath Hyungwon that quickly realized the situation.

“How am I going to cheat now?” He says a little louder than expected making the whole class laugh and the professor redden out of anger. --- The bell for the first break comes faster than expected. Jooheon, and Minhyuk, the sunshines of the class don’t wait one second to come talk to Changkyun.

“Changkyun right? Don’t mind Y/N, she’s always a bit grumpy, except around Hyungwon and Hyunwoo.” Jooheon snickers.

“Hyunwoo is an upperclassman. Those three are inseparable, it’s kinda weird so don’t feel bad about it.”

“Shut up you two !”

“They’re called the lazy squad. They only sleep and eat. Hyungwon always sleeps in class and Hyunwoo always eats in class, it’s actually impressive.” Minhyuk says with a huge smile actually impressed.

“What about Y/N?” Changkyun asks shyly.

“Oh she doesn’t waste time, she does both.”

“I said shut up !” I say in between my teeth trying not to bring attention to me.

“Y/N, let’s go upstairs, Hyunwoo said he has extra dumplings for us.” Hyungwon comes already looking half asleep like he didn’t waste time on recuperating some sleep during the first periods. I sigh at the accuracy of our little trio described by the two sunshines and nod slowly.

“Let’s go.” I stand up to join Hyungwon out of the classroom.

“I feel bad that I took her friend’s sit.”

“Don’t, those two, well those three are always together. Like the professor said, it wouldn’t be too bad to separate them.” Jooheon laughs lightly. --- The end of the day finally comes. Me, Hyunwoo and Hyungwon are in the “go home club”, which exactly like the name explains, we’re not in clubs. It’s usually not well seen at all, like at all, which only reinforce Minhyuk and Jooheon’s description.

“You guys, we should do something with our lives.” I say out of the blue as we’re about to pass the school’s gates.

“Uh?” They both turn around looking at me weird.

“Well, that’s what we’re gonna do.”

“You mean going to 7/11, reading manga for an hour without buying them, then going to eat snacks by the river?”

“Sounds like life to me.” Hyunwoo smiles making his eyes into crescents.

“I don’t know.. We’ve gotten worst than before. Hyunwoo, you used to be captain of the swimming team in middle school, what happened? I used to be the team captain of my soccer team back in middle school ! What happened !!!” I lowkey panic.

“Hey, what about me?” Hyungwon says a little hurt.

“You stood on the basketball court in middle school?”

“Yeah.” He smiles looking satisfied.

“Hey!” I turn around to the new deep voice and see Changkyun running towards us his hand in the air.

“Uh?” I say squinting my eyes making sure I was not turning blind.

“Are you guys going home together?”

“I guess?” I say still squinting my eyes putting my head back enough to show some double chins. Yeah, that’s how shook I was.

“Can I join?” He says a little embarrassed as if his small leap of courage had disappeared.

“Sure~ We’re going to 7/11 to read manga for half an hour without buying them, then we’re going to eat snack by the river.” Hyunwoo says smiling almost like a seal.

“Hyun—“

“I don’t see why not.” Hyungwon says smiling too, and I feel the strap of my bag fall from my shoulder.

“Thanks, I’m Changkyun by the way.”

“Hyunwoo.” They introduce themselves and start walking, leaving me there in awe.

“Hey..” I say weakly. --- To say I was not pleased was an understatement. Since high school started, I started living in a shared house held by an older woman. She had this old traditional house, and rents the four rooms to students due to all the high schools in the neighborhood. I was sitting at the dinner table eating what she had made for the night, and in front of me…

“Changkyun..” I say between my teeth.

“Yes?” He looks up from his bowl and I just fall backwards whining.

“WHYYYY ! Why are you here?” I sit back quickly slapping my hands on the table.

“Y/N careful you’re gonna spill everything.” Kihyun one of my housemates says between his teeth. Kihyun was adorable, he went to an all boy school and was top of his class.

“Grandma !!” A sandal comes flying to my face and I fall backwards again.

“Stop calling me grandma, I’m only 30 !!!”

“Bora don’t listen to her, you look amazing.” Hoseok, our fourth housemates, says all smiley.

“Hoseok, you’re a cutie. You!” She points at me trying to look serious, but Bora was just too nice and adorable for that. “Be careful I have my eyes and ears on you. Changkyun is living here now you deal with it. Now eat !”

After all the food finished, we clean everything up and Hoseok and Kihyun start to put their stuff out to start their homework. I stand up and walk towards the hallway.

“Y/N? You’re not studying with us?” Kihyun says surprised.

“I’ll just do it in my room.” I leave them behind a little surprised by my sudden distance towards them.

“What’s wrong with her?” Kihyun says a little annoyed.

“Maybe she just wants to be alone.” Hoseok tries to calm him down.

“I think it’s because of me. I took Hyungwon’s sit.”

“Oh..” They both say a little taken aback.

“Is it that bad?”

“Y/N, is not a bad person, let’s start with that.” Hoseok says a little panicked.

“She has a little bit of separation anxiety. She kinda grew up going from shared houses to shared houses, because her parents are out of the country. Hyungwon and Hyunwoo are basically what she has closest to a family here cause they grew up together so, by taking Hyungwon away…”

“She feels a bit uncomfortable?” Changkyun says understanding the situation.

“She’s not a bad person, once she gets warmed up to you, you’ll see she’s a lot of fun.” Hoseok smiles showing all of his pearlies. --- The small fan on my floor desk was turning slowly spitting as much air as she could. I try to focus on my homework but something keeps coming back into my mind.. Changkyun is incredibly cute..

“Ugh.. What the fuck Y/N..” I say to myself letting myself fall back onto the floor once again tonight. I put my arm over my head trying to hide my red cheeks, when I hear a snicker. I take my arm off and see Bora leaning over me.

“You got a crush Y/N?”
