#Like 'Oh you thought I'd automatically agree with you on every point like I did before?'
Text
God I would love to have seen Lieutenant Jopson actually disagree and argue with Crozier, just once.
I'd love to have seen them have a proper argument once Jopson finally had the official authority to actually speak his mind a bit more.
I can't help but wonder if, perhaps unconsciously, Crozier promoted him in small part so as to have a lieutenant who would always agree and back him up in his decisions. But Jopson, of course, is a bright lad who knows his own mind, and nothing tantalises me more than the thought of that united front just not happening.

hi, i have a silly promt - 5 times Scar tries to flirt with Cub + 1 where Cub flirts back
couldn't quite scrape together enough ideas so have this... 3+1? i suppose? that i wrote on my phone while avoiding getting out of bed :D
1.
How had Scar managed to convince Cub to buy his very damp and rather miserable looking basement, he had no idea. Sure, Scar was a great salesman and Cub wasn't exactly known for having normal bases, but this still seemed like a rather unconventional deal.
It did, however, present some very good opportunities.
"I know it's a little… wet around the edges," Scar smiled innocently like there wasn't water dripping from the ceiling. "If it ever bothers you, you can join me upstairs."
"I'll manage," Cub hummed as he looked around, probably already calculating what he could fit here. "I managed alright in Ren's basement and this is definitely an upgrade, so it'll probably be just fine."
Not exactly the answer Scar had been looking for.
"If it gets cold at night, feel free to join me! Elven beds have plenty of space and it's very warm." Risky, but hopefully clear enough.
Cub blinked but didn't seem bothered. "Eh, don't worry about me, I'll figure out how to keep the cold out in no time. Wouldn't want to bother you."
It took all of Scar's self control to not audibly groan out of frustration. Cub was supposed to be a smart man, how oblivious could he be?
2.
This was hopeless, Scar thought as he took another bite of the wicked pumpkin pie he had sworn to avoid at all costs.
"It's not too bad," he commented, watching Cub's waiting expression brighten. It wasn't bad, per se, but Scar as a competitor automatically had beef with it.
He was still confident his cookies were much better, but this was not the time to bring that up.
"It's good, right?" Cub asked, cutting another piece of the pie for himself. He seemed excited to finally have the opportunity to get Scar's very professional opinion on this, curiously studying his reactions.
"It is," Scar admitted, hoping no one else would ever hear about this. The things he had to do to get the attention of his crush! "We should have a picnic one day, you bring pie and I bring cookies."
It was a good excuse, wanting to try the pies Cub so insistently praised again, to be able to spend more time with him.
"Oh yeah, that's a good idea," Cub agreed with a nod. "We should ask others to come too, I'm sure they have their own sweets they could bring."
Scar wanted to slap himself internally. How much more obvious would he have to get with this?
3.
Scar's Hotguy duties gave him a good excuse to go and find people every now and then, and Cub just happened to be his main target most of the time.
"You're like an evil Cupid," Cub commented as an arrow hit the ground next to him before Scar almost crash landed at the same spot, too busy staring to properly slow down.
He had spotted Cub digging through some chests around the shopping district and naturally couldn't resist the urge to go talk to him.
"Me? Evil? Nooo, never!" Scar grinned, standing up straight. He was feeling a bit reckless today. "I'll show you, I will shoot you and then you'll fall in love with me!"
Was that too straightforward? Surely not, Cub had been the one to start this joke after all, he couldn't blame Scar for getting a bit carried away.
Cub laughed, looking up from the chest. "I don't think that's quite how it works."
"I said I'll show you!" Scar took out his rockets to take off again.
"No thanks," Cub said nonchalantly as he took more things out of the chest. "I've almost just finished organizing my inventory, I'd hate for all the work to go to waste if you kill me."
At this point Scar couldn't tell where the bit ended and actual conversation began. Cub didn't seem bothered by the nature of his joke, not at all, but Scar couldn't tell if he was avoiding playing into it or simply actually valued his inventory management.
Scar was supposed to be good at this kind of stuff, how could it be this difficult with Cub?
+1
"Hey Scar," Cub called his name, interrupting Scar's probably not very well hidden staring session. "Do you have time to play a few rounds of Total Chaos?"
Scar thought about it - on one hand, it was Cub asking, and Scar would do almost anything if it was him asking. On the other hand, he was tired and while he'd love to spend some time with Cub, Total Chaos tended to get rather… chaotic with all the other people.
"I don't know," Scar replied. "I'm kinda tired."
"Oh, that's okay." Cub sounded almost sad, like he had been looking forward to this. "I just need to make some adjustments and wondered if you would help, it's nothing very big. It would be just the two of us."
Scar blinked, looking at the other. Cub seemed rather awkward, rubbing the back of his neck and shifting his weight from one leg to another like he didn't quite know what he was supposed to do. He seemed unsure, which despite how much he tended to worry about things, wasn't that common - usually Cub carried himself with confidence. He wasn't like this when he usually asked for help.
There was no way Scar was reading this wrong.
"Are you asking me out?"
Cub froze for a moment and Scar could see his face turn red. "Maybe? If you'd like to?"
"Of course I'd like to," Scar smiled, walking up to Cub to take his hands in his own, hoping to ease his nerves. "I've been nearly losing my mind, you have no idea."

Soul ties - Part 13/Finale (Bucky Barnes au)
“I've hungered for your touch
A long, lonely time”
Soul ties playlist : https://open.spotify.com/playlist/054hHxpYJ2rIluevfSaGRK?si=w1JkdfFwTjuXZMegQd9WHw
Tumblr media
Waking up from your first night with Bucky was a feeling you would make sure you'd never forget. You knew he didn't get much sleep : you'd only  been to his room once, but you'd noticed the single blanket on the floor, which somehow reminded you of Steve's bed in the early years of your friendship.
"You didn't even move," you said as you woke up with his arm around you. "I feel bad I kept you in an uncomfortable position."
"Don't. I couldn't wake you up for anything in the world," he joked. "Even when you snored."
"Lord, take me out of this misery," you complained as you got up from your bed, escaping Bucky's embrace.  "You were joking, right?"
He grinned and shook his head no. Damn. You ran your brush through your hair and picked up  your phone on your way to the bathroom to brush your teeth. Checking your messages, you noticed a text from Steve.
"Tony dropped off some papers for you. Didn't want to wake you guys up."
Your heart jumped as you realised what papers Steve was talking about. Divorce papers. You rinsed your mouth, put on some jeans and a T-shirt before telling Bucky about the special delivery.
"All I have to do is sign them, then drop them off at Darren's," you explained. "Best case scenario : he signs them right away and I get to go back with them."
Bucky was already seated and he was getting ready to go change as well. "And worst case scenario would be...?"
"He doesn't sign them at all, and I have to go through the court system," – you sighed – "which I really don't want to."
"It's not gonna happen," he assured you. "I'm coming with you to make sure of it."
"You don't have to do that, you know?"
"I want to."
You slowly sat on his lap, wrapping your hands around his neck. "I'm a really lucky woman." You couldn't help but smile before kissing him quickly. "Okay. I gotta go read and sign those papers. If you want to make some coffee while I do so..."
"Oh, I see, already taking advantage of my soft spot for you," he said. "I didn't think-"
"So you have a soft spot for me, huh?" you teased, a nervous laugh escaping your mouth.
"Did I say that?"
"Maybe. I guess we're even, then. Soft spots for each other sounds good."
You got up and put on your shoes.
"It does," he agreed. "Alright, I gotta make some coffee now."
---
"I didn't think I'd see you this soon."
"Well, I'm full of surprises," you snapped at your future ex-husband as you handed him a small stack of paper. "I need you to sign this."
Darren's eyes kept going from you and Bucky to the papers. He grabbed the divorce agreement hesitantly and read the title.
"What if I don't?"
"You will."
Bucky's low and stern voice had unsettled your interlocutor so bad he opened his mouth without  saying anything.
"If you don't mind, we'll come in and make sure you sign these," you said as you made  your way through the hallway of the building. "I also have some stuff I want back."
"Fine," Darren agreed  grudgingly. "It's not like I have a choice anyway. I don't want your new pet boyfriend to attack me."
"He's not-"
"Let him," Bucky told you. "Please, let him give me an easy excuse to do it."
You held back a laugh : you knew Bucky didn't want to be involved in a meaningless fight. On the other hand, letting Darren believe this was a possibility seemed like a fun taste of payback.
"C'mon, Buck. He's not worth the trouble."
You grabbed his hand as you preceded Darren in the staircase that led to your former apartment. You took him to the bedroom you and Darren once shared ; you could see his face changing at the sight of the bed and decoration that still bore your mark.
"Are you okay?" you asked.
"Sure."
You got away  from the wardrobe you were about to open and walked up to him.
"No you're not. Talk to me," you said as you stroked his cheek.
"This room is filled with memories," he whispered. "Memories that are his."
"And that's all he's got," you retorted. "Memories. That's the only thing he can cling to from now on, assuming that even means something to him."
"But it means something to you, and I don't want you to erase all that," he confessed.
"Bucky... I'm not erasing anything," you promised, knowing how hard it was for him to think he was stripping someone from their memories. "Life is about learning. If I hadn't been married to him in the first place, I probably wouldn't have met you. See? Learning from past experiences is not erasing said experiences. I know you're feeling like the bad guy here, but you're not."
"He looks miserable. That's kinda my fault."
"You didn't let me blame myself for this, and I'm sure as hell not gonna let you blame yourself either."
You smiled and kissed him on the cheek before going back to the wardrobe. Grabbing a bag and filling it with your remaining clothes didn't feel as heavy as it did when you'd last been here. Your chest felt ten times lighter, and you were convinced Bucky's presence had something to do with it.
"I'm good," you said. "Those are the only things I couldn't bring last time."
You left the bedroom and found Darren sitting at the kitchen table, his pen hovering over the divorce agreement.
"Could you get done with this already?" you asked softly. "I'm kind of in a hurry."
"You're so eager to leave me, aren't you?" Darren scoffed. "I thought..."
"What?"
"I thought you could make this work for us."
You let  out a long, disappointed sight. "The very  fact you think it's my job and mine only to make this marriage work is another sign of why it didn't," you pointed out. "I shouldn't have lied to you about my tattoo in the first place," you admitted, "but the way you treated me all those years was far from right."
"But I was good to you."
"No, you weren't."
Darren lowered his eyes and signed the final page. With a single hand, he slid the agreement towards you.
"Thank you," you told him. "I'm glad we could end this the nice way."
"It's really over, huh? You're just gonna leave with a guy you've known for a couple of months."
For once,  there was no animosity in his voice. He sounded resigned more than he sounded sad.
"Yes. I might not have known Bucky for long, but he treated me the way I know I deserve. I'm not sorry you couldn't be that person, because there is someone out there waiting to meet you as well."
"Yeah, maybe."
You picked up the papers and went for the door, Bucky following you.
"Goodbye, Darren."
You didn't get an answer, as you'd expected. You went down the stairs silently and dropped your bag on the backseat of the car before sitting behind the wheel. Bucky sat in the passenger's seat, unsure of what he should say.
"Thanks for coming along," you ended up saying. "I think it helped me stay calm."
Bucky squeezed your knee gently as you started the engine : his  hand didn't leave  your leg for the rest of the trip, and you'd  never been more thankful  for automatic cars.
---
"Surprise," Natasha told  you as she greeted you with a glass of champagne. "Steve told me the news."
"What is it we're celebrating, exactly?" you asked with a chuckle.
"Your divorce, of course! I couldn't make it to the wedding, might as well celebrate its ending."
"I'm-, oh god." Keeping things serious was impossible and the light-hearted feeling in  your chest resurfaced. You thought you'd feel more guilt over divorcing Darren, but you knew now that it was the best thing to do.
Bucky laid a hand on your waist  even though there were a few people around, and Nat handed him a glass as well. Wanda, Steve and Sam ended up drinking with you, and even Tony made an appearance. Laughing, talking and chilling with your family felt like an enormous relief after the past few weeks. Despite your surroundings, Bucky's hand couldn't seem to leave your body : your shoulder, thigh or arm or even your back... Maybe you weren't the only one who felt freed by signing those papers. You stayed up late that night, and Natasha was the last one to leave.
"Big day, huh?"
You nodded and snuggled up to Bucky on the couch. "About what you said earlier-"
"It's okay," he said. "I just...you have memories with him. I cannot pretend they don't exist, and-"
"Don't. They're not relevant," you said, cutting him off before cupping his face. "It's you and me now, Buck. Every moment in my life, every choice I ever made led me to you. So yeah, Darren and I share memories. Some of them are good. Some aren't. So what? You and I will make new ones, and that's what matters to me."
You  pressed your forehead against his and closed your eyes.
"I'm in love with you," you confessed. "I'm in love with you and I've never felt it this strong, ever, and it's scary but it's also the most exciting thing-"
His lips crashing on yours interrupted your whole speech. His hand found the skin on your waist as he laid you down on the couch and kissed you with passion, enjoying the fact that the room was all yours. He pulled back, leaving you out of breath. He got up abruptly and extended his hand, grabbing yours and putting you back on your feet. Pulling you into a tight hug, he kissed your cheek and your neck.
"I love you,"  he whispered in your ear.
"I love you too," you said. You grabbed his hand on your waist and led  him through the compound. You stopped in front of his bedroom and stood  on tiptoe to plant a kiss on his nose. "Let's go make new memories now."
the end.

Chapter 39
Tumblr media
The Road So Far
Is this still worth it?
The SEVEN Inch Wound
Gary 'Roach' Sanderson
Task Force 141 Base - Gym
Roach finally got his seal of approval. After weeks of physical therapy and daily check ups, he was now finally fit for battle and he was lucky enough that Nero was still under the radar. He wouldn't want to miss out on the battle he started. He was lucky enough that they were exonerated when Shepherd surrendered, because if they continued to be fugitives, Roach would not have access to appropriate medical attention.
It has been almost a month after the events in Afghanistan and Task Force 141 was already re-established, Samantha and Maxine were housed on a nearby compound where veteran's families lived under the safety of government protection. During his time in the infirmary, Maxine was always there to visit, telling him tales about dreams she recovered as time went by. Roach was glad she was returning to normal and that no matter how her memories came back, her treatment towards him was the same.
"Good to see you back on your feet, my man." Rocket went up to him and did their fist bump, a series of elaborate claps then finished off with finger guns accompanied by their almost realistic attempt at pistol fires.
"Haha. Yeah? I'm glad I'm back." He waved as Rocket pointed at his back. Roach turned to see Maxine, carrying a packed lunch, waiting at the end of the hallway.
"Hey you. Just in time for lunch as always." He smiled, wrapping an arm around her as they made their way to the mess hall.
"Glad to see you smiling and walking about." She says, as her palms ran across his firm chest, tracing the scar that changed his life.
"Yeah, finally passed the damn physical test." He grinned as they sat down at their usual table, the only table which consisted of two tables stuck together to form an eight seater.
The rest of Roach's closest comrades were already there. Alex, guessing what Samantha packed for him. Soap and France arguing which meal choice was best for them and Ghost, who was already halfway through his lunch while the rest of his comrades haven't even started yet.
"Good to have you back, buddy." Ghost greeted with a wide grin on his face, well technically only half of his face was shown.
"Hey man. I sure am glad. How have you been doing?" he joked. They constantly visit him in their free time, so there was actually nothing to catch up on.
"The rest of the squad proceeded to badger Roach with questions about everything they wanted to know. Roach enjoyed the hot seat as the military mess hall felt like the university cafeteria.
"So, any news about Nero?" He finally asked as soon as everyone was done with him. The table felt awfully quiet.
"None." France was the first to speak up. Everyone else nodded and frowned.
"Shit. Guess our only choice is to wait." He added.
"Shepherd didn't have any leads towards Nero. Their last contact was the exchange of blueprints and after that, he was gone." Soap explained the situation.
"The missing persons?" Gary asked.
"Still missing." Alex commented.
"And there are still a few additions every other day as indicated by the FBI and DHS." Ghost added.
"Is interpol still involved?" Roach turned to Ghost.
"They're still after the traces of EMP equipment from the missing persons. Their new lead is that Nero's team is trying out a lethal kind of grenade. One that explodes without damaging property. If he's planning invasion, this is actually a good idea without ruining too much of the invaded country." He replied. Roach nodded at the theory. EMPs only damage mechanical equipment and this was a good call for the bad side.
"I never knew they'd think of this kind of weaponry. I always expected bioweapons being the last of modern warfare." Ghost muttered.
"Well, that was what happened in Verdansk and we stopped it. We could do that again." Alex tried to boost morale.
"Yeah. We'll do whatever it takes." Roach agreed and they continued lunch.
Tumblr media
By the time he started training, Roach focused back on his Sniper techniques. His wound may have affected his previous breathing training and it was only inevitable that he'd train it again. He wanted to master the long ranged rifle as it was vital towards his development as a soldier.
"Back on the scope huh." Ghost huffed as they reached their 200 yard mark, by the hill just outside the base.
"Glad you could help me on this one." Roach unzipped the sniper bag and began scouting the area.
"You sure this is your spot?" Ghost asked, using his hand as a visor against the hot afternoon sun.
"Yeah. This fits."
"Suit yourself." He chuckled as Roach snapped every attachment of the rifle, from the bipod stand to the clicker adjustments.
He peeked at the scope and looked at his target. Five small cans standing on top of a log 200 yards away.
"Remember what I told you." Ghost mused as he looked at Roach steadying his breathing.
"Damn." He added as he noticed the change in wind.
"Yeah, damn. I just was about to fire it." Roach muttered as he took another deep breath and began to hold still as his crosshairs adjusted to the shift.
A loud fire echoed across the hills as dust scattered on the ground where Roach fired. He was about a few inches off.
"Great. Do that again but change your adjustments." Ghost said as consolation.
"Yeah got it." He rolled his dial once again and accounted for the wind, easing his breath and fired again. The loud sound once again echoed through the hills, followed by a soft metal can flying away from the log.
"There you go! A clean hit." Ghost congratulated as he tapped Roach's back while he reloaded his sniper and aimed again.
Roach stayed at that spot until it was too dark to continue and Ghost accompanied him until such time. On their way back, Ghost opened up to something that has been bothering him ever since.
"Roach. Do you mind if I say something important?" He asked and it made Roach stop on his tracks.
"Yeah. What's up." Roach asked.
"I've already sent my formal letter, but I just wanted you to have a heads up on the matter." Formal letter. Roach's heart started to pound as his mind automatically thought of him quitting or leaving.
"Letter about?" he asked. His mouth almost felt dry. He didn't want him to leave. Not again.
"Transferring department. Alexandra offered me a spot on the Interpol. I told you this first because I knew that if you were on my shoes, you'd go too, right? Do whatever makes you happy?" he said, quoting Roach's famous words.
He isn't wrong about doing what makes him happy, but his decision didn't feel right either, or maybe because he just doesn't want Ghost to go.
"Well, you bet I'd go for that option too!" Roach said, trying to validate his decision despite not wanting it. It was sad to see him go, but for the first time in ages, Ghost actually acknowledged the term happy.
"I knew you'd understand." he smiled and continued their trail back to the base where Roach remained quiet until they reached the base just in time for dinner.
After dinner, Roach opted for a night jog around the base to clear his mind off of Ghost leaving. After the second lap, he soon noticed Alex catching up to him.
"Wonderful weather for an evening run, huh?" He asked all cheery as he's quite used to his heavier and more realistic leg.
"Yeah. It is. Good to see you're liking Samantha's surprise." Gary nodded and removed his earphones.
"You know, it's really a surprise when I'm the only one who doesn't know about it." He commented.
"It feels like a real leg, actually. The wonders of modern technology never ceases to amaze me." He mused as they both took the turn.
"Yeah? That's good to hear. Pretty sure Samantha loved the way you thanked her." Roach teased as Alex chuckled, like he recalled some memory.
"Oh yeah, she did." Alex nodded suggestively, the kind that Roach didn't want to ask anymore.
"This your last lap?" Roach asked as Alex slowed down for his cooldown, turning to the set of exercise bars.
"Yep. See ya!" He waved as he started his cooldown.
Gary took three more laps just to make sure he's exhausted for the night, so that once he got in his bed, no more thoughts would assault his mind, hindering him from sleep.
There was only one way out of it. And it was accepting Ghost's inevitable departure from the 141.
Tumblr media
The next morning, the 141 was briefed on a possible lead on Nero. This time, Ghost wasn't in the room and that meant that his letter was now approved.
"Okay lads. We've received word on a supply drop activity from Nero. We intercepted an unencrypted call signal to an abandoned port just off the coast of Sierra Leone, Africa. If intel is correct, we're going to be dealing with someone who goes by 'Volt', Nero's bomb maker." Price paced in front of the huge screen showing details regarding their mission.
"Volt is a high value individual who must not be killed. He's our only hope towards Nero. The intercepted call came from the USA, and it's quite impossible that Nero is here, so he must've used a secure line. Jack will be staying in the base as our new Operations Command as suggested by Laswell. Overlord will continue his role as our commanding officer as well." Price added making clear about the jurisdiction.
"Damp and dry Africa." Soap muttered.
"Have you been there?" France asked.
"Only in Egypt. My mom used to tag me along her trips." he replied.
"Recon suggests a high chance of militia activity, so our standard rules of engagement; treat anyone as hostile. Volt's compound will be surrounded by his own personal army and they're willing to shoot any unwanted visitors. He also has access to a port, so I'm sending the Charlie team to stand by the shore and make sure they're not planning an escape." he added.
"I'm leading the Alpha team and our task is to infiltrate his base and secure Volt for intel. Bravo team, led by Alex, will act as our support when things go south. As bonus, we need to destroy any trace of bomb making equipment.
Roach, I want you to man our new air support tools from above as soon as we confirm that there are no SAMs on his base." He shot his glare on Roach and he nodded. Guess he isn't on the ground tomorrow.
"We leave tomorrow at 0300. Make your necessary preparations especially on our brand new comms equipment. Ones that are immune to EMP blasts. Dismissed." He said as everyone got up and went on their way. Gary purposefully left himself behind so he could ask Price about the Ghost situation.
"Hey there lad. You feeling good?" Price approached as soon as he noticed Roach.
"I just have a question about the mission."
"Sure. What about it? Any suggestions?"
"No no. The plan is fine. Where will Ghost be?" Price gave him a worried stare.
"Ah. Didn't he tell you about his transfer?" He crossed his arms and stared at Roach.
"He did… but why did you allow it?"
"Well, it certainly looked like he was happy to go there. And I had no power over his commendations." Price reasoned as they walked out of the briefing room.
"Oh. I thought he was going to have one last mission with us." Roach smiled as he walked back to the room. Ghost wasn't a fan of goodbyes. Maybe because he knew they'll meet again.
0300H
Sierra Leone, Africa
"This is Hunter One-One requesting sitrep, over." Roach phoned his allies who were already on the ground for support. This mission was their vital lead towards Nero. He wished that the guy Volt was here so that they could finally finish the war before everyone else gets hurt.
Before he could man the air support, he needed to confirm that there were no SAMs present on their base so he could safely provide suppressing fire from above.

what do u think about people comparing stelena to edward and bella from twilight. i’m rewatching the show and stelena, especially in season 1, feel a lot like edward and bella.
Tumblr media
1. I recognized Edward Cullen by his unusual hair, sitting next to that single open seat. As I walked down the aisle to introduce myself to the teacher and get my slip signed, I was watching him surreptitiously. Just as I passed, he suddenly went rigid in his seat. He stared at me again, meeting my eyes with the strangest expression on his face - it was hostile, furious. I looked away quickly, shocked, going red again. I stumbled over a book in the walkway and had to catch myself on the edge of a table. The girl sitting there giggled.
I didn't look up as I set my book on the table and took my seat, but I saw his posture change from the corner of my eye. He was leaning away from me, sitting on the extreme edge of his chair and averting his face like he smelled something bad. Inconspicuously, I sniffed my hair. It smelled like strawberries, the scent of my favorite shampoo. It seemed an innocent enough odor. I let my hair fall over my right shoulder, making a dark curtain between us, and tried to pay attention to the teacher.
Unfortunately the lecture was on cellular anatomy, something I'd already studied. I took notes carefully anyway, always looking down.

The way Elena views Stefan and the way Bella views Edward are markedly different. Obviously, her relationship to Stefan is nourishing which is the point

but she doesn’t revere him like a god. Bella legit worships Edward and it’s unhealthy af
Edward Cullen didn't come back to school. Every day, I watched anxiously until the rest of the Cullens entered the cafeteria without him. Then I could relax and join in the lunchtime conversation. Mostly it centered around a trip to the La Push Ocean Park in two weeks that Mike was putting together. I was invited, and I had agreed to go, more out of politeness than desire. Beaches should be hot and dry. By Friday I was perfectly comfortable entering my Biology class, no longer worried that Edward would be there. For all I knew, he had dropped out of school. I tried not to think about him, but I couldn't totally suppress the worry that I was responsible for his continued absence, ridiculous as it seemed.
I wondered to myself why no one else had seen him standing so far away, before he was suddenly, impossibly saving my life. With chagrin, I realized the probable cause - no one else was as aware of Edward as I always was. No one else watched him the way I did. How pitiful.
His eyes were gloriously intense as he uttered that last sentence, his voice smoldering. I couldn't remember how to breathe.
I sat down automatically, watching him with caution. He was still smiling. It was hard to believe that someone so beautiful could be real. I was afraid that he might disappear in a sudden puff of smoke, and I would wake up.
2.
"The door was unlocked?" "No, I used the key from under the eave." I stepped inside, flicked on the porch light, and turned to look at him with my eyebrows raised. I was sure I'd never used that key in front of him. "I was curious about you." "You spied on me?" But somehow I couldn't infuse my voice with the proper outrage. I was flattered. He was unrepentant. "What else is there to do at night?"
"How often?" I asked casually. "Hmmm?" He sounded as if I had pulled him from some other train of thought. I still didn't turn around. "How often did you come here?" "I come here almost every night." I whirled, stunned. "Why?" "You're interesting when you sleep." He spoke matter-of-factly. "You talk."

Stefan is all about boundaries, even when he reveals that he met her last year after saving her life, all he does is come back to town, he doesn’t feel entitled to her private space

3. "For example" - his words flowed swiftly now, I had to concentrate to catch it all - "the emotion of jealousy. I've read about it a hundred thousand times, seen actors portray it in a thousand different plays and movies. I believed I understood that one pretty clearly. But it shocked me..." He grimaced. "Do you remember the day that Mike asked you to the dance?" I nodded, though I remembered that day for a different reason. "The day you started talking to me again." "I was surprised by the flare of resentment, almost fury, that I felt - I didn't recognize what it was at first. I was even more aggravated than usual that I couldn't know what you were thinking, why you refused him. Was it simply for your friend's sake? Was there someone else? I knew I had no right to care either way. I tried not to care.”

4. The phone wasn't any help; Jacob had refused to answer my phone calls since Edward's return. Besides, I needed to see him - see him smiling again the way he used to. I needed to replace that awful last memory of his face warped and twisted by pain if I was ever going to have any peace of mind. I had an hour probably. I could make a quick run down to La Push and be back before Edward realized I had gone [...]  Like any fugitive, I couldn't help looking over my shoulder a few times while I jogged to my truck, but the night was so black that there really was no point. I had to feel my way along the side of the truck to the handle. My eyes were just beginning to adjust as I shoved my keys in the ignition. I twisted them hard to the left, but instead of roaring deafeningly to life, the engine just clicked. I tried it again with the same results. And then a small motion in my peripheral vision made me jump. "Gah!" I gasped in shock when I saw that I was not alone in the cab. Edward sat very still, a faint bright spot in the darkness, only his hands moving as he turned a mysterious black object around and around. He stared at the object as he spoke. "Alice called," he murmured. Alice! Damn. I'd forgotten to account for her in my plans. He must have her watching me. "She got nervous when your future rather abruptly disappeared five minutes ago." My eyes, already wide with surprise, popped wider. "Because she can't see the wolves, you know," he explained in the same low murmur. "Had you forgotten that? When you decide to mingle your fate with theirs, you disappear, too. You couldn't know that part, I realize that. But can you understand why that might make me a little . . . anxious? Alice saw you disappear, and she couldn't even tell if you'd come home or not. Your future got lost, just like theirs. [...] I listened to his musing in stony silence. "I'll put your car back together in time for school, in case you'd like to drive yourself," he assured me after a minute. With my lips mashed together, I retrieved my keys and stiffly climbed out of the truck. "Shut your window if you want me to stay away tonight. I'll understand," he whispered just before I slammed the door. I stomped into the house, slamming that door, too. "What's wrong?" Charlie demanded from the couch. "Truck won't start," I growled.

5. "You think I lifted a van off you?" His tone questioned my sanity, but it only made me more suspicious. It was like a perfectly delivered line by a skilled actor. I merely nodded once, jaw tight. "Nobody will believe that, you know." His voice held an edge of derision now. "I'm not going to tell anybody." I said each word slowly, carefully controlling my anger. Surprise flitted across his face. "Then why does it matter?" "It matters to me," I insisted. "I don't like to lie - so there'd better be a good reason why I'm doing it." "Can't you just thank me and get over it?" "Thank you." I waited, fuming and expectant. "You're not going to let it go, are you?" "No." "In that case... I hope you enjoy disappointment." We scowled at each other in silence. I was the first to speak, trying to keep myself focused. I was in danger of being distracted by his livid, glorious face. It was like trying to stare down a destroying angel. "Why did you even bother?" I asked frigidly.
Certainly, when Elena sees weird things about Stefan in the first five episodes of season 1, he brushes it off but he doesn’t speak to her to make her feel stupid or crazy

Donghae couldn't believe what she had just told him. He couldn't believe all those plans of their future he had prepared are going to waste. He couldn't believe how she was so easily going to leave him, and yet against her own will.
"Why baby?" he asked for the nth time holding her hands, trying not to cry seeing her tears. "Why? Why why why? You don't always have to listen to your father. Arranged marriage? Screw it! You're mine, remember. Only mine."
Joohyun could not help but burst into even more tears, being pulled into his chest as she gripped onto his shirt tight, arms around his torso and face snuggled into his chest. She hated her father for many things, but this was now on the top of her list.
"I don't want this Donghae. I never wanted any of this. But there's nothing I can do." she sobbed, and his hug only tightened around her.
"I can't think of letting you go to another man." Donghae mumbled, but audible for her to hear. "I can't even imagine it. The only other male I can think of you going out with is Jinyoung. That's it. I'm over protective and clingy I know. But it's because I love you so much."
Joohyun couldn't stop crying anymore. What he called over protective and clingy, she loved it. She always found it adorable how he looked out for her in public, and how he limited her contact with men. She never found it unfair or dominating, because he himself followed the same, limiting his contact with women. And Joohyun hated the average men, making Donghae special, and vice versa.
"Donghae... I'm sorry. I don't know anymore. It's for the stupid company, and the guy agreed because he benefits, and..."
Donghae placed a finger on her lips to stop her from further trying to explain. He knew how powerful her father was, but he hoped their three year long relationship was stronger. Sadly today, it wasn't. He looked at her face, completely wet from tears, and couldn't help it anymore as he started kissing every inch of it, even under her ears and on her neck and collar. Joohyun's hands locked themselves around his neck, knowing this was probably their last night together.
"Please Donghae, make this night special..."
He knew what she meant right away, and complied with her wish.
Joohyun couldn't sleep no matter how late it was, even in her favourite sleeping environment, that was under a blanket with his arms around her, her small body engulfed by his larger one feeling all of his body warmth on her own, and his slow breaths hitting the back of her neck. But she knew he wasn't asleep either because of how quiet the room was, unlike usual when his soft snores could be heard, one of her favourite things to listen to.
Slowly she shifted and turned around, pulling the blanket up a little to cover her chest, considering they were both naked, and faced him. "Donghae..." her soft call was enough for him to open his eyes, and his hand automatically carassed her face. Every touch, every feeling, every thing about him right now only made her even sadder, and tears soon pooled in her eyes, each wiped off by his thumb.
"Don't cry love. Please don't. It makes me even sadder." he choked, his voice breaking in between. Joohyun tried her best holding it in, and quickly moved closer into his embrace as they hugged each other again.
They enjoyed the quiet atmosphere, needing only each other's presence to live in peace. He sniffed her hair, while she traced her fingers on his arm. If they could they'd stay like this forever, never letting go.
But they had to, especially now when Donghae's phone rang. He sighed and kissed her forehead before reaching over her to the side table, surprised to see the caller. He turned the screen towards Joohyun, who squinted her eyes as surprised as he was, and motioned him to put it on speaker.
"Hey Jinyoung."
"Hyung! Is my sister with you!?!" the young boy asked in a seemingly worried voice.
"Yes, she's here."
"Oh thank God. I was scared when she didn't come back. I thought she... She killed herself."
"She's here Jinyoung don't worry. Remember, you'll never be alone again..."
"I am now..." he cut off Donghae with sudden sobs. "I'm alone again. Mum's gone, now noona's being sent off to some stupid forced marriage. Hyung, why is my father like this... In this case, I'd rather be dead. Right?"
"No you don't. You deserve to live. What if Joohyun needs your comfort? Wouldn't you feel bad for not being there for your own sister? Stay strong kid, you'll get through this."
A whimper was heard in reply, and the call was disconnected, and Joohyun giggled slightly at first, before tears pooled again.
"He loves you so much. Thank you Donghae."
He smiled back at her weakly. He knew how much her brother meant to her. He was ten years younger than her, making him only fifteen. That meant he was only seven when their mother died, and was left under the care of Joohyun. And when Donghae came, sure he was quite protective and jealous at first, but he now looked at him like a father figure, like he did with his sister, since getting any love from his father was far away.
Now hearing the boy's cries broke his heart almost as much as Joohyun did. He still didn't want to believe this was their last night together, and was now full of instant regret why he didn't propose sooner. But would it still have worked back then with her father? He was sure it wouldn't have.
"I'm going to miss you so much Joohyun, I might die from it."
"Donghae..." she cried again, and he pulled her closer cuddling her tight like his life depended on it.
Tumblr media
Joohyun stood in front of the mirror hopelessly, in a white dress she had hoped to wear only for Donghae. But here she was, wearing it for some man she had no idea about, other than his face. She felt so terrible, so useless, so cheap, so disgusted, that she couldn't bear to look at herself in the mirror.
Jinyoung couldn't help feel just as bad for his sister, watching her from behind as she looked down, and he could see droplets of water fall on the hem of the long dress. He walked up behind her, and hugged her tight, head in her shoulder.
"Please don't cry noona. Please don't make me sad." he chanted like a child, hugging her tighter and hiding his eyes in her shoulder, trying to prevent his tears from spilling out. Joohyun couldn't help but let out audible cries now, turning around and hugging her brother back, causing him to cry just as much.
"Be a good boy... Promise me. Don't... Don't be like dad."
"I know... I'll be like hyung, Donghae hyung is the best." he said trying to smile.
She couldn't help cry even more at the mention of the name, having been unable to see him the past week after that night. But she knew it was for the best. She pulled out of the hug, and saw tears streaming down his face. She wiped them off and kissed his forehead, making him cry even more.
He loved her hugs, kisses, when she holds his hand, when she cooks for him, when she tutored him. He loved those moments when she came home from her dormitory, and he was the first to jump onto her even before their pet dog. When she introduced Donghae to him, and only him, he did feel jealous of the man for getting as much hugs and kisses as he did back then, but he knew how much she loved him. And he knew he himself was the most important male in her life if she was introducing her boyfriend to only him.
Joohyun now stood at the door with her father, keeping her hands to herself. The elder man noticed, and tugged her arm putting it around his. "I'm so proud of you." he said keeping his head high up, making her scoff. She didn't bother to even spare him a glance, keeping her face down all the time, even when walking to the altar. But she couldn't help feel sick in her stomach, and while the priest went on about the vows, Joohyun threw her bouquet onto the floor and ran off behind the hall to the washroom.
Jinyoung quickly followed behind, not bothered by the women only sign, and stood behind her as she threw up constantly. "Jinyoung... Get my bag... now!" she spoke in between gags, and he ran back out then in with her back pack. Joohyun took it and pushed him out of the toilet, locking it, but the boy didn't leave, standing in front if the door like a body guard. He fumbled his hands together, pacing around, when he received a message.
Hyung
Jinyoung, please take care of your sister and yourself. In about half an hour, I won't be around anymore. There's no point for me. And don't worry, I know my business is small, but I've left it to you. Be good and take good care.
Jinyoung's whole body system simply shut down as he somehow managed to understand what Donghae meant. At that moment the stall door opened, revealing Joohyun in a change of clothes, and a pale expression. He ran to her side, holding her hands tight.
"What's wrong noona? Are y..."
"We need to get out of here." she cut him off. "We need to leave, and find Donghae."
"Why?"
"I'm pregnant!" she exclaimed, and after seconds of processing, Jinyoung grinned a little, before he remembered the message.
"Noona we need to be fast. He's going to kill himself! Let's go!"
They first went into the back room to gather their things, then snuck out of the back into her car, putting their luggage into it. Good thing the wedding was in their own mansion hall, so getting all their belongings wasn't a problem. Jinyoung turned on the tracking in his phone, and found Donghae at the Han River bridge, and Joohyun was quick to start driving.
And it was only then when the people inside realised what was going on. A runaway bride. Jinyoung watched the guests come out of the hall, the groom in front creating a havoc, as they drove out of the land their father owned. She drove fast, but carefully, a smile spreading across her face as she thought of the small life inside her. The same smile now on Jinyoung's face as well. But they weren't there for long as the siblings soon reached the bridge, and recognised the black car from far. Joohyun quickly parked her's behind it, ran out and hugged the figure standing near the railings of the bridge, feeling his body freeze and tense up.
"Joohyun? What are you doing here?" he asked when suddenly engulfed in another hug from the front.
"Hyung please don't do this!"
"Jinyoung? Did you tell her?"
"Yes, but after she asked me to find you."
Confused, Donghae pushed the two off, and stood looking at both of them. "Find me why?" he asked Joohyun, who swiftly pulled something out of her pocket and showed it to him, making sure the test lines were visible. Donghae's eyes widened, shifting between the item and Joohyun's face.
"Seriously?" he asked, and she nodded, suddenly off the ground being spun around in the air. She laughed at his antics, and they pulled each other in for a kiss.
"Bleh." they pulled away and giggled at Jinyoung covering his eyes. "We have to go, remember. Dad's not going to let us off. What do we do?" he asked as Donghae put her down, then smirked mischievously.
"Give me your phone." he said taking Jinyoung's phone, and started to type away.
Dad, we've had enough. I hope you enjoy your burden-less life. You won't be seeing us anymore.
After sending the message, he took out the carrier card, and Joohyun's, then crushed and threw them into the river behind them. He took her car keys, moved all their bags into his car, and left the keys on top. He pulled the two into his car, and drove away to the nearest bank, and made Joohyun withdraw all her money, then break her card. Jinyoung had none, so they moved on to his house, and he sat them down to explain what he'd do next.
"We'll get you two new identities, change your surname, then we'll move."
"Where hyung?"
"Well, I actually moved my business to Sapporo, so we'll move there."
The siblings nodded, and instantly decided on a new surname, taking their mother's, Bae. Donghae took them to the government office, where they registered their new identities.
Bae Joohyun
Bae Jinyoung
Next he took Joohyun to a different floor, and she hugged him when she realised what they were doing. Registering their marriage. Once they finished, with Jinyoung as the witness, they drove back to his house.
Donghae booked quick flights to Sapporo, and by the next week, Jinyoung ran around carrying boxes in his hand, exploring his new house. Who would've thought that Donghae was apparently rich? Even if not to their father's extent, he was still amazed by his new home as he left the boxes and ran around the two story house, front yard, and big back yard that had a swimming pool as well.
Once their new house was finally made homely, Donghae went into his bedroom, smiling as he entered to see Joohyun putting up polaroid pictures of them on the wall. He crept behind her, and engulfed her into a hug, peppering kisses into the crook of her neck. Joohyun laughed feeling ticklish, until he stopped and turned her to him, her arms wrapping around his neck. He pecked her forehead, going down until her lips, then slowly bent down on his knees, his face in level with her tummy. He lifted her shirt, her hands layed on his shoulders, and kissed her tummy in several spots.
"If it wasn't for you," he whispered against her skin, "we would have both been gone by now." he hugged her tummy, leaning an ear against it. Joohyun felt so happy she couldn't contain her tears as her fingers combed through his hair.
Everything would finally be perfect.

Woop-de-doo, it's Lord Scarlet stuff part 2
This was a post I planned on making WAY sooner, but I accidentally lost the original draft so I didn't even bother to try doing it gain until recently. And just now something happened that changed everything; and I mean what both DID and DIDN'T automatically give me the right to post this. I almost deleted my first post at that, and here's why:
In the first post, I mentioned that when I initially found out Vic was lying to me, I was quiet about it and just stopped talking to her out of fear, and then when I asked for help on what to do I was told to leave without a word. I don't think that was entirely the right thing to do in the long run, because it may have been the easiest way out but I'm better off with proper closure.
And the thoughts she left me scarred with never left my head. Time and time again, I'd find myself crying myself to sleep again at the thought of Brock forced to hide romantic feelings for Master Frown and not know who he was anymore while Frown was left unaware and in love with someone else, even if it wasn't Lord Scarlet.
And the pain sometimes came with a want to confront Vic one last time and open up to her about how I wasn't blind anymore, and how much she really hurt me. But I, again, wass scared she wouldn't care and would cut me off.
So when the pain got worse, I did what any coward would do: tell everyone else about my pain.
Now I DID tell friends of mine other than the Unikitty Amino staff about what happened, and they were all sympathetic and understanding about it. But then I told almost everyone, and then made my vent post on here (as well as Wattpad). As much as I wouldn't want to call them call out posts, they might as well have been. I didn't want people to harass Vic and make her mad...but at the same time I kinda did. I was too scared to face her that I was hoping that someone would do it for me. I even tagged accounts of Vic's. Not cool of me at all.
Now the Tumblr and Wattpad posts got me pretty much more of the same: sympathy, and acceptance that I had moved on. No one came after Vic but we could still agree that none of her actions were justified (I even got @careeningle's attention...sorry about the aneurysm)
Now comes the next important thing that happened, because I mentioned @friffinx kinda being responsible for me getting back to the Lord Scarlet Amino to write the message that I did. In it, I said that after I sent the message I did I would leave the Amino again & for good.
Well...I lied. I still checked in every day for the same reason I started venting: I kinda wanted Vic to see my message. Even if she'd ban me, I wanted to see if she'd ever notice my message. And that would've been the end of it if it wasn't for Brook.
I briefly mentioned Brook in the last post. She was another OC of Vic's, and was exactly to Brock what Lord Scarlet was to Master Frown; a carbon copy love interest. Except Lord Scarlet was far more developed and drawn & written about more. Brook didn't even really have a distinct personality, she was a girl Brock and that was it. But with reptilian overlord eyes. (To be fair, Vic drew Brock like that sometimes too)
(I didn't include Vic's art unless it was in chat bgs or whatever in the last post, but for the sake of referencing/proving a point, this is what Brook looks like)
Tumblr media
No one really paid attention to her for the longest time. She was there in the fanfics because according to Vic, "Scarlet needed a friend." And like I said in the first post, Brook wasn't said to be canon so I never found a reason to really care for her. Plus I can only recall someone giving Vic fanart with her, and it was with Scarlet (@plastic-papercuts made it, go follow her she's gr8).
But then one day, for some reason, something in me clicked. I actually thought of a story idea for her. Somehow this bland cutout of a character had potential in my eyes, and I weirdly started liking her because of it. She suddenly felt...more real. I got pretty invested in my idea and newfound interpretation of Brook, and describing it would make this post way longer than it is so if anyone asks about it, I'll probably make a whole other post about it.
Anyway, I came up with a little plan: draw out this idea in the form of a comic and post it to the Lord Scarlet Amino. And see if Vic gets suspicious and checks out my profile and then maybe bans me. It felt a bit better than total silence and she'd probably see that someone gave a crap about Brook after all.
So I started a new chat called "It's Brook" to share my progress with the other members of the Amino, which there weren't too many of but we had fun in it. It was basically me, @friffinx , @soapycocacola, @plastic-papercuts, and a few others who aren't on Tumblr (or at least don't think are) chatting about how awful Vic was and calling out her lazy art tactics like tracing and using assets/clips right from the show. And of course me sharing the comic progress I was making. Again, this doesn't make anything we did right but it felt good getting everything off our chests. We were like a secret rebellion against an absentee dictator. One time Vic came online as we were chatting and even viewed my profile, but nothing happened. And it stayed that way until I opened Amino up one morning. For those of you who don't have it, the menu shows all the communities you're in when you open the app, and all of mine were there except for the Lord Scarlet Amino. I assumed I must've been banned overnight. But I wasn't banned from Vic's other Amino so I commented on her wall on that one. For Vic's sake, I won't show how the conversation went (and I'll explain why at the end) but here's how it went:
Me: Did you ban me from the LS Amino?
Her: There was drama in one of the chat rooms and I'm not having it. I didn't want to do it and it's not a big deal It's just an amino and you're still on this one AM I RIGHT?
Me: Yes, but I assume you read my updated bio. As I hoped you would.
Her: Nope.
Me: Oh. But you know what? Ban me from here too for all I care, I feel like you deserve to know why I left and came back: *insert me finally telling her how I know she lied, that she hurt me, and what I did was wrong here*
Her: Lol ok be that person but keep in mind that I'm one of those people that doesn't gibe a fuck lol
And then she banned me from that Amino too before I could type and submit a fitting farewell reply.
At least I finally got all the built-up emotional pain out of me, but it did help me realize something important: we never really were friends. I wanted more of her content despite all her red flags as a person so I tried enduring them, thinking it'd be worth it, and she only kinda cared about me when I was being a yes man. She never kept any promises and didn't respect me the same way I did her. So I could at least feel confident knowing she most likely didn't care at all when I first left.
@friffinx and the others didn't get banned, though, and Friff even started another chat on the LS Amino called "It's Brook 2" where they talked more about Vic being a terrible person. And it didn't take long for her to shut that chat down too and ban everyone from it that time. Friff sent me screenshots of what happened next (which again, I'm not gonna show), where Vic basically had a meltdown. She changed her username to "Little Miss Guillotine", and made a post about her being "finished with the bushit". In it, she announced that she didn't even like Unikitty! anymore but was still gonna keep/use Lord Scarlet because she wanted to. The part that made my blood almost boil wasn't her views on the show, she's free to have her opinion and I couldn't care less about it. What DID was that she acknowledged that she lied the whole time because "she didn't care anymore" and said that it was "our faults for believing it in the first place" and that "we needed to grow up"/"stop brining it up"
Ooooh boy, victim blaming, my favortie...
Since then she changed the Lord Scarlet Amino's theme to make it about The Penguins of Madagacar (again, fine with me). Either way she was still a narcissist and I thought she'd, sadly, likely never change. And my friends and I all thought that was the end of it.
Until a few hours ago...
I was browsing the Unikitty Amino and saw a new member named BlueCat. Didn't think anything else of it until the user PMed me. And this is what happened:
Tumblr media
I didn't know what to think other than "I thought this day would never come", I was that shaken. This was so left field-ish that what else could I do but believe her? It didn't even seem suspicious or like she was trying to be a suck up, that wasn't Vic at all.
But the one thing I knew I had to do was ban her because even if she meant well and did it for the right(?) reasons, but I still asked if I should in the staff chat. @girly-glorious (also amazing so pls check her out :D) told me that yes, it was ban evasion so since I'm a leader too now I could to it on my own. But I knew I had to message Vic first and Girly told me to be careful, so this is what I sent:
Tumblr media
And then I banned her, the end (not really)
Now I don't understand how or why this sudden behavior change happened but I don't know if I should question it in case it's personal. But again, I at least want to believe that she's really being genuine and had a change of heart because never in a million years could I imagine her being this mature. Again, she didn't demand that I forgive me or probably even expect me to. But the message still does leave me feeling sorry for her.
Now I thought that was the real end of it until I see the Penguins of Madagascar/old Lord Scarlet Amino on my sideboard.
She unbanned me.
Tumblr media
Now I don't know where we'll go from here, if anywhere. I'm not too sure if I can really let my guard down around someone who hurt me so badly just in case she does it again. So I may not talk to her again, but if she really asks something from me, I might try and build up courage to ask her more about how she came to apologizing to me. Plus she followed me on Wattpad too.
But this is why I didn't show our conversation right before my ban or her "f.u." posts. Because I don't want people seeing more of Vic's past behavior and possibly embarrassing her about it if she ever sees this. But that's kinda why I felt like it was 100% necessary to finally make a sequel post in the end; I'm hoping people at least acknowledge Vic has changed and don't keep thinking about based on what I shared out of attempts to gain sympathy like a crybaby.
So before I go: PLEASE, DON'T GO AFTER OR HARASS VIC. I KNOW YOU PROBABLY WON'T, BUT THIS IS SERIOUS. ALL THE PROBLEMATIC LORD SCARLET DRAMA IS STUFF OF THE PAST AND NEITHER OF US WANT TO KEEP LOOKING BACK ON IT.
I hope this helps whoever's reading as much as it did me.

A Twist in my Story
Tumblr media
you just went out of the broadcasting room when you saw jisung and chenle walking towards you. you smiled and waved at them, but instead of waving back they ran towards you and immediately covered your eyes with a blindfold.
"what the hell, chenle? jisung?" you tried removing the blindfold but one of the two kids is holding both your hands.
"i'm sorry noona, just doing our job." it was chenle who said sorry but you're pretty sure he's just smiling right now, not feeling any remorse at all.
"someone paid to date you, noona. wonder who." jisung chimed in with his fake seriousness.
"idiots. i need to talk to jaemin though."
"jaemin hyung can wait for you noona, don't worry."
"how much do i need to pay you both so that you can let me go?"
"100,000 won."
"Excuse my french, but what the fuck? Why do I need to pay 100,000 won for a fake date? Are y'all nuts?" What the hell is a blind date that costs 100,000 won?
"Well, not really noona. You see our normal charge is only 10,000 won. But you see, the person who paid for your blind date gave us 50,000 won just so you can't say no. We made a policy that anyone who refuses the blind date needs to pay twice the amount originally paid, so you know we can still earn for the services we provided, we're just doing business here, definitely nothing personal." you would've been proud of chenle if it wasn't at your expense. you heard the two kids you're fond of laughing not so subtely and they also did a high-five.
who would've paid for that amount? you wondered to yourself, but you really can't say no now, 100,000 is a lot already.
"whatever. it won't last long right?"
"30 minutes."
"oh hell, that's a lot of minutes."
"we planned it well, noona."
after what seems like forever, you've arrived at the location of the blind date activity.
"noona, it'll be your choice if you want to remove your blind fold or nah, but head's up, your date is already here and he already removed his blindfold and grossly staring at you." you heard chenle say "ow" after he said what he said, like he was smack or something.
"bye noona, we'll go now. 30 mins." jisung said before you heard footsteps walking away.
you felt nervous all of a sudden by the fact that you are in a small space with someone you cannot see and you're still not sure if you want to see. who would want to date me? of course it's a dumb question because obviously someone has taken a chance on you. you decided it's only fair to remove your blindfold and talk to them properly like a normal person. you can do that, right?
you slowly removed your blindfolds whilst hearing the loud beating of your heart. hopefully it's not loud enough for the other person to hear, because that would be so dumb, you thought again.
after the blindfold has been taken off, your eyes immediately landed on a familiar pair of eyes; because you've known it for forever. it's the same eyes you've been dreaming about for a long time.
Tumblr media
"hi." it was a simple greeting but you felt all those cheesy shite in your stomach. remember those movies and books that said that there are butterflies on their tummies? well, guess what, it's what's in yours too.
"jaemin, hi." you smiled suddenly shy at the presence of your bestfriend.
"you're blushing, baby." okay first of all, what the fuck was that? baby?
"shut up, idiot. don't call me baby." you smacked his arms playfully to which the boy only replied with a smile, still looking at you straight in the eyes.
"so did you pay for this?" jaemin asked to which you replied with a faux-shock look on your face.
"nope! chenle said this "date" was like 50,000 won. i'm too broke for that. i can just talk to you without paying, right?"
"of course, yn. but i didn't pay for this either, but at least we can talk here, right? not going to lie, i haven't seen this part of the room. jisung and chenle must've worked hard in decorating, because this looks... dope" jaemin almost said romantic but of course he can't just say it without context, he doesn't want to send shock to his bestfriend.
"agreed. so you said you wanted to talk about something? what's this about?" you tried not to be nervous; because nervous yn is a wreck. you're still gathering the energy to confess to this perfect human being in front of you, and you almost feel cold feet whilst looking at him.
"well, just promise me you won't leave me or say anything until i'm over. deal?" jaemin extended his hand towards you to seal the deal and you accepted and shook it.
"okay, hit me with this. it seems serious. i'll zip my mouth." you made a motion that looks like you're zipping your mouth, jaemin smiled at the action and breathed deep before he started speaking.
"okay, i can do this. so you know that i've known you since forever. you're like home to me, no matter where i'll end up to, i will always long to go back to you because you give me that sense of comfort. you're also my lighthouse, because when i find myself lost and in some dark place, i look for you because i know you can guide me home. knowing you for a long time is a bliss to me. sometimes, i look at you and a sudden thought would come to my mind, "i could spend my whole life with this girl." but just like all those cliché coming of age movies, i was scared of going over the line because what if it will go wrong, what if i fuck up and i'll end up losing you, i can't do that, losing you would mean losing my home. so i stayed back, and i was happy since nobody was there to call you theirs, i mean it's selfish but i was happy. and then someone came in the picture, fucking Mark Lee who's nothing but perfect. Of course he'd come to like you, who wouldn't? and then one day, you suddenly introduced him as your boyfriend and i've never felt more devastated, damn i've never even known that word before. but it's the only thing that described what i've felt then. you were happy and even if it sucks it's in someone else's arms, i've come to accept it, just as long as you are happy. i tried moving on too, because i don't want you to worry about me. and lia was there, she said she likes me, i was honest with her from the very beginning and she agreed. and i actually find myself liking her, then loving her, but not as intense as it was with you. but i tried really hard, you know? because lia deserved that, but it was becoming so hard; especially after fucking mark left. i find myself wanting to stay with you, comfort you. sometimes it comes to a point where it becomes the reason why lia and i would fought. and before it could get worse, i've decided to break up with her. i don't want do something stupid, i don't want to recover my feelings for you when lia is still in the picture. she doesn't deserve that. so i told her we need to, because i'm starting to think of someone else more than i should. i don't know if she knew it was you. but you know lia, she's an angel, she agreed, but she asked for space. and i gave that to her. it's almost 4 months since the break up and i think it's enough time and i can finally be honest with you." jaemin suddenly took your hands and you let him because you're still agape at the words that are coming out of his mouth.
"and i just want to tell you that i love you, yn. not just in a way a bestfriend would love his bestfriend, but in a way a person loves his lover. the kind of love you say to the person you want to kiss or to the person you want to spend a long period of time with; and you know act like those old married couples. i mean we're still young, so i can only hope. but i love you with all my heart, it's not much but i just want you to know. i think i've waited long enough, i want to say that to you no matter what the repercussion will be. but maybe don't cut me off your life, please, if you know, if you'll say no and all. i mean i love you, but i still want to be your friend... and lover. i'm blabbing, but i love you, been loving you since before i've gotten to know what love is about. yeah, i think that's all, i mean i messed up my speech but that's what most part of my speech so, yeah, i love you, park yn." jaemin is shaking as he held your hands, it felt sweaty but you didn't mind. how can you? when the person you've been loving since forever is also in love with you?
"you can say something now, yn" jaemin said while fidgeting his hands which is still holding yours.
"oh, yeah, okay. i could do that. say something." jaemin laughed and ruffled your hair.
"you really do know how to make me smile and calm."
"well, you're not making me calm right now, nana." you said with a pout, not intentionally though, but Jaemin still smiled because he finds it endearing.
"you really didn't know that i like you?"
"nope, i had zero clues. every time hyuck or yeji says something about you liking me i would automatically refute it as defense mechanism, i guess. i mean why would you like me? i'm me, nothing special about me."
"okay first of all, that's no way to talk about yourself or to the girl i love. second, you're beautiful inside and out, and i would still say this if i'm not your bestfriend or admirer. you're kind, you're friendly with people, and you've always been patient and forgiving, even to those who don't deserve it. you're amazing, yn; if i could let you borrow my eyes so that you could see yourself on my end, you'd see how awesome you are." jaemin said with eyes full of intensity, wanting to make sure it'll be absorbed by your system, and surprisingly it did, not because you fully believe it, but because it was jaemin. jaemin could be a lot of things, but never a liar.
"well, geez nana. you're making me blush! i never knew today is yn's appreciation day. but before i reply to your grand speech, i also need to say something to you. so i'd appreciate it if you'd listen to me first before saying anything. is that cool?"
"okay? you're making me nervous. but of course i'd keep my mouth shut until you're done." jaemin gave you a reassuring nod signalling for you to go ahead; you took a deep breath and collected your thoughts before starting. here goes nothing.
"na jaemin, you might not know this, but you are an idiot. but worry not, because guess what, i am too! after your confession, i've finally realised we've become best friends because damn, we are both fucking clowns. i don't know if you know this, but i like you a lot! i've always liked you since when we were younger, of course no one would put colours to it because we were so young then. but i've always preferred to be with you than hyuck, like in games and stuff. i thought maybe it was just because me and hyuck are really competitive with each other, and yeji would ask me to let her be paired with hyuck, i didn't mind of course, after all that means i'll get to be with you. i don't know if it was the last year of middle school or early freshmen when i realised that i really like you, not just the like you have for your friends, but a different type of like where i also wanted for you to like me back. but again, we've already established that we are idiots, but now i guess we can also establish that we are both huge fucking cowards. on my end, i was insecure, i didn't think much of myself; and you were already gorgeous when we started highschool, i was like, "damn where did that ugly nana go?" but of course, that's just me clowning myself, you've always been handsome in my eyes, even when at times hyuck would really say you're ugly. i guess when they said that, "love is not blind, but it doesn't mind", i find myself agreeing to it. so now we can fast forward to the time i realised i will never have a chance with you. i was too afraid to confess or risk our friendship, so i decided to take a chance on mark. i mean, who doesn't like mark? when mark lee gives you attention, how do you turn that down? i was in bliss when he told me he likes me, enough to momentarily forget about you. and of course, it worked. mark was almost perfect... but just as things are finally going well, of course, fate decides to fuck it up, you know? because damn, we broke up just few days after he started Uni. you were there again, even if you and lia are still already together. but believe me when i say this nana, i was happy for you and lia when you got together. i realised that maybe, we're not made for each other, at least not in the way i used to hope. but then you also broke up, and that's when i started panicking. because what if i'd end up liking you again, because sure i was able to bury my feelings for you before, because mark was there, but this time he's not. and then i saw myself go thru that process again, liking you secretly... but this time never pining for us to be together; because we now have lia in the picture and she's my bestfriend." you gave out a sad smile which jaemin notices so he held your hand tighter.
"and frankly, i never wanted to confess. i thought, it'd just die down or something. i only have to wait until we start uni. but a twist happened, a variable i never expected to show up. somebody found out about my feelings for you, somebody i don't know, and surely i can't trust. i thought it was just hyuck pranking me, but hyuck would never play me like that, he knew about my feelings for you the longest just like how i knew about his feelings for yeji. this stalker told me i need to confess to you and to lia that i like you or he would post that wish i hang in the wish tree downtown every christmas. it was me, uhh... wishing for the one i love to be happy, and i wrote your name. they took a pic of it apparently, and you'd know my handwriting, lia would know too. so i told him, i'd do it, but only during the festival. and a lot has happened before this day nana, it was like almost two months that i experienced scenarios that would only pass my mind at like 3 am, i never thought those type of scenarios would happen to me." and that's when you thought of jeno, jeno who was never part of your life two months ago, and now he has occupied a huge chunk in your mind, especially after that kiss.
"and this people, do they go by the name of jeno?"
you nodded.
"i still like you a lot, nana. i guess, i'll always do. but, it'll be unfair to you if i just say yes to whatever you're proposinh when i'm thinking of other people."
"i want you to be girlfriend, yn. but seeing that you are still trying to figure out your feelings, i'll wait; this time i will patiently wait until you make your decision. it might take a long time, you might end up not choosing me, but i'll wait. don't get stress over this though. you already made me happy by telling me you like me, i mean not as full as it was before, but i still have a chance, and i'll work hard to deserve your feelings."
"i'm sorry. i don't know yet what my feelings are for jeno, but he, i don't know, crawled his way into my mind. i used to hate him, but when i've gotten to know him, he's actually not bad. he's a big idiot too, and maybe i like his presence because just like mark, he makes me not think of you. i was so keen on forgetting my feelings for you that i didn't imagine this moment would even come. if i have known in my first year of highschool that a na jaemin would confess to me in my last year in highschool during the school's festival, i think would've waited. but at the same, i really don't regret the things that happened when we decided to look at other people, nana. i hope you don't too. i've met mark, you've met lia; and yet we're still bestfriends, that's how strong our relationship is. i'm not sure what you're asking of me, but i don't think i'd offer you a half full cup, you deserve more than that."
jaemin is smiling at you patiently but you can't help but notice the sudden gloom in his eyes.
"jaemin, i love you, a lot. as a bestfriend and as a person in general. but i don't want to hurt you."
"love will hurt anyway, remember how john green said something about you don't have a choice if you get hurt in this world, but you have a choice on who can hurt you. and my choice is you, yn. whether, you choose me or someone else, i'd still be your bestfriend. all i ask is a chance to prove myself to you. just a little chance, yn, and i'll be the happiest man in the world."
you stared at your bestfriend who's looking at you with his big puppy eyes; you still can't believe that this person loves you. how many nights did you spend dreaming about this day to come?
"okay."
"what do you mean okay, yn? okay you're giving me a chance? okay, you're fine if we'd still be bestfriends no matter what your choice may be?" jaemin is now standing up looking at you with a glint of hope.
"to everything you said, nana. i'll give you a chance, i don't know what the coming days hold, but let's see. but i also have to tell jeno of my idk, feelings, just so i can fully start being honest with myself and to you."
"that's fine by me. as long as you're honest, as long as you're happy, i will be too, no matter what."
"thanks for understanding me, nana. this would've been easier if we're not a bunch of insensitive cowards."
"true, but at least now we've become aware that it was the two of us." you both end up laughing thinking about it when jaemin stopped and suddenly become serious.
"is it okay if we hug? i just feel a strong urge to hug you right now."
you didn't trust your voice to reply, because you might end up crying. so you nodded your head before jaemin pulled you and enveloped you in a warm hug.
"i know you're overwhelmed right now, baby. you're probably having a rush of different realisation right now. but it'll get better, take all the time you need, i'll still be in the end of tunnel holding a lamp for you. you're yn, and yn always strive against adversity in the end."
you didn't realise you were sobbing in jaemin's chest until you had to laugh at his speech and your snot almost come out.
"you'd make a good leader nana, i didn't even know you know the word adversity. but still, thank you. you're still my main bitch, hyuck will always be a side hoe."
"i don't know if i should be honored to be called bitch, but i guess thank you for making me that bitch."
you smiled in nana's chest because he just gave you the assurance you needed; that whatever happens, you'd still be friends.
you looked at jaemin and he nodded.
you're still hugging each other when you heard familiar voices not so far away from your area.
it was jeno, and lia.

Hello! I'd like to ask how did you meet your spirit companions? And do you have any advice to beginners like me on how to communicate with them? I tried talking with them telepathically and I was wondering if they heard me? I had fun reading your logs with your spirit friends 😊. I wish Ill be able to communicate with them like how you are able to right now. Thank you!
Hi!
Oh boy! Let me give you the run down on the spirits that I'm working with currently! Also, I’m going to say up froNT THAT I'M REALLY BAD AT GIVING NICKNAMES TO MY COMPANIONS DON'T JUDGE ME OKAY
So first off, 3 of my "companions" are actually spirit guides. They are:
Sn - Those are his initials, I'm not giving out his actual, full name for safety reasons. But he is a koi fish! Kind of, as my clarity has improved I've found that he's longer and thinner, kind of looking like the dragon from of Haku in Spirited Away. He's an older spirit, and I think he does some weird kind of politicking in the spirit world. ANYWAYS when I successfully astral traveled for the first time, he was waiting for me! I walked into his sanctum, which was kind of like a lovely zen garden. He came and introduced himself, and the rest is history.
Crush - Crush is a sea turtle. Yes, again, aptly named, I know. His personality is kindd of like a surfer dude; and he actually does like to surf! He's very fun, but also very strict and is fucking terrifying if I'm doing something that I shouldn't be. I actually was told in a reading that I should go to the coast, and that I had a guide waiting for me there. So I did, and as I was walking on the beach, I opened up my intuition and he swam up to me! We spent the afternoon walking the beach, and we sang and danced to music the whole drive back. Very memorable!
Gentle Giant (I call him GG) - He's my most recent guide. I… was having a really, really bad night. I kind of had an emotional breakdown, and during that he appeared to me. I wasn't expecting it at all. He is a hulking man, maybe like 10 feet tall? Large in size and stature. He kind of reminds me of Wreck-It-Ralph. He has more of a lumberjack appearance, and his entire energy just seeeps of Autumn, and beautiful orange leaves. Literally, anytime I interact with him there is just crazy imagery of it, it kind of defies explanation lol. ANYWAYS I'm still learning more about him as I work with him more. What is certain is that even though he is huge, he is the BIGGEST sweetheart that I've ever met. Seriously, he is just filled with love and gives me a giant bear-hug anytime he sees me.
Alright, so those are my guides. Now for the rest of my companions:
The Green Man - He is an ancient forest spirit of a local forest that I work with. He has the appearance of an old man, except that his skin is entirely made of bark, and he has various branches poking out at different points. He's bald, but sometimes he has some hair/a beard made of leaves. He also walks with a cane. He is lovely; very kind, very wise, and VERY powerful. I was doing a hike through this forest for the first time, maybe a couple of months after I started being able to talk to spirits; I was very much a beginner, and I was practicing by talking to trees. As I was walking, I came across this like, little sanctum in the forest, with a very large tree in it. I felt drawn to it, and I went and spoke to the tree. We had good conversation, and I left. I didn't find out until the next time that I went that he was actually the spirit of the forest. He decided to work with me, and I'm very grateful and very fortunate. He has taught me so much.
Prince - Prince is a Seelie fae, who is a king of a lesser Fae court; yes, that makes him a prince I'm tIRED OF THE JUDGEMENT I'M BAD AT NAMES OKAY. Lol anywayss yes. He's tall and slender. He has shimmering, almost white skin, extremely fair, youthful features, and white hair that falls down above his shoulders. We met because part of the territory of his Court actually overlaps in the forest that I work in. I had crossed into his territory many times. I discovered him watching me with curiosity one day, just kind of floating around and observing from a distance.
I was EXTREMELY hesitant to talk to him, let alone work with him once we did actually talk. He wanted to form a kind of alliance, and I kind of didn't want anything to do with him lolol. I was feeling more comfortable with spirit work, but I knew next to nothing about the fae, except that they were very tricky and that you had to be extremely careful with them. But. With some coaxing from him and some gentle encouragement from my other companions, I reluctantly agreed to work with him.
Now I'm actually really glad that I did. He attuned me to Fae energy so it wouldn't be so dangerous for me, and he's brought me to his Court many times - though to this day I'm still kind of scared shitless every time I go. But yeah, that's Prince.
Strix and Trixie - These 2 are my pixies! By "my" I mean that they were more assigned to me by Prince, kind of as bodyguards. It's to make sure that other Fae don't give me any trouble; I've gotten a very mixed reception among the Fae nobility. They're both very small, maybe 9 inches tall. They both appear more female - although gender for spirits is kind of complicated. Anyways, Strix kind of glows purple, and she is really peppy and energetic! She's very excitable and passionate about whatever it is that she is talking about/doing. Trixie kind of glows green, and she is - Trixie forgive me - kind of bitchy lmaooo. She is more just like sarcastic and kind of annoyed?? But that's just her personality! It's not bad at all I think it's soo endearing and I love her.
So yeah! That's pretty much it for all of my spirit companions, at the moment anyways. Now for the rest of your ask.
It seems that among spirit workers, telepathic communication is the golden standard. As such, it is very frustrating to beginners when they can't do it, and they feel that they can't do spirit work. Telepathic communication with spirits is very difficult to do. It takes some time and a lot of practice and meditation to be able to do it.
So while you can and should most certainly work towards it, there are other ways to communicate with your spirits in the meantime! Various forms of divination works well, whatever you have on hand. I haven't tried it, but using a pendulum looks very promising and an excellent method of communication. If you can astral travel/lucid dream, it will make it much easier. Also… something I don't see mentioned ever is automatic writing! This is kind of how I do my readings. Basically, you take out a pen and paper (or your laptop if you can type faster) and just write down literally anything and everything that comes to your mind. Write out your questions and with some practice, hopefully you'll start to be able to discern the differences and maybe be able to communicate that way!
I know that everyone says it, but if you want to try and communicate telepathically, you have to meditate regularly. I know, I know, everyone says it. BUT. Let me put it in a way that will be much more helpful. The reason that you need to practice meditation is so that you become familiar with how your own mental voice sounds; so familiar, that you will be able to tell when a voice in your head doesn't sound like your own mental voice. There is no point in trying to communicate telepathically if you aren't able to filter out what your companion is saying from the rest of your thoughts.
So meditate! Just sit and let your thoughts run, you don't have to try and quiet your mind; as a matter of fact, don't do that. Just meditate with the purpose of letting your mind run, and watch your thoughts come and go, paying attention to them, and how your mental voice sounds. That should definitely help.
Thanks for the ask! So sorry for the long post; but I had a lot to say! I hope that this helps. Have patience, and keep practicing!
Blessings!

That's true, Bly is definitely more Gothic. When I compare them with each other, I like Bly more based on story, characters and the overall feeling you get while watching 👀 but that's just my personal opinion. Hill House made me a really huge fan of the whole series. It's not just dumb horror it's a well thought through story with so many details and twists, it's perfectly done.
Haha well he's not as interesting as Jamie so it's easy to forget about him 😉
To his whole backstory, yeah I mean he had a traumatic childhood and it made him who he is now, but even after episode 7 I had no sympathy for him, like nothing. OJC did portray him perfectly, there's no doubt about it, but just his character and how he treated Rebecca and the kids just made me hate him and there was nothing that could change that. I have to say it was kinda hard for me to hate him because in Hill House, I loved Luke and now seeing him playing the complete opposite of that was definitely interesting 😅
Everyone was shocked by this scene but I loved it 😂 it was just great how Viola just came and shut him off
You have, but there's no need to stop saying it 🥰
This scene...oh my 👌 I've watched it so often and it gives me goosebumps every time I watch it again, too. That's such a good shot, the whole atmosphere was perfect. And then Dani, with so much nervousness in her voice, saying this line 🥰 the way Jamie looks at her after it and then the hand holding, makes me realize how much I love them every time 💕
I mean, yeah, their whole story was perfect, nothing happened without a reason and that's the same with the ending. I can't say I will ever get used to it, I'd have rather liked to see them happy till the end, as cheesy as it sounds, but I just don't get the reason behind of destroying a good relationship in the most cruel way possible. And I also know that it kinda had to end like this but it caused so much struggle for me, I was so sad after watching it, I felt so empty and I know it's just a show but I was heartbroken at the end. Like really heartbroken, and even after watching it a few times I have to prepare myself for the end cause it destroys me every time. But yeah it caused a much bigger impact, thats for sure.
I can agree to everything you just said in this! And it's true, the show reminds yourself of many things in your own life even if it reminds me of sad things mostly but it's still unusual for a show to have so much impact and thats wonderful 👏
Haha yeah I get that 😂 I, as I already said, didn't have this "wtf" moment because I knew she would be in this one too 😅 but it changes the whole look you have on the show knowing that she already was playing Nell.
And I agree on the most fascinating sibling, for me it's also Nell for sure. I loved all of them (except Steve) but Nell was my favorite for sure
Totally true! I don't like the whole concept of the show which makes it automatically not interesting for me.
I mean i have seen a few gifs of Victoria here on Tumblr and she looks f*cking cute in it what makes me even hate the concept more cause if it wouldn't be like it is, I could watch Victoria's great acting again 😭
Haha omg yes! Same here! 😂😍 I would leave everything behind just to be the one helping her out and I wouldn't care about my fear of dogs too! I mean that would be a dream come true tbh 😂
It’s another long one, anon! :D
We stan one man in Bly and that’s Owen 😄
OJC was jarring for me, too, but by the time I watched Bly, I’d gotten wind that 1). he played Luke and 2). he was supposed to be the gardener but people were like, “it’d be weird seeing the siblings play lovers” so he was cast as Quint instead. So to see him as Luke, it was still a shock, but... a mini one.  It is also worth pointing out that if he had played Jamie... I don’t think I would be this invested in Bly.
His pre-death scene? LOL, I screamed so loud when that happened and almost threw my phone. I had an inkling based on what Rebecca said, but... good christ. It got me.
Re: the ending again Yeah, I mean, I completely understand how it feels. Personally, I can’t really say that I felt differently, particularly after the first watch - I was left empty, too, and so so shattered. Even now, if I have to go back and see clips of the ending, I still get teary-eyed. Some days I would just randomly put on I Shall Believe, or Frank Ocean’s Godspeed, and just... cry. Generally, there’s always going to be that part of us, when we see stories that resonate with us but have sad/tragic endings, that holds up for that bit of hope that they’d defy the odds and conquer whatever it is that life throws at them, That maybe this time as we see them again, they’ll prevail. But... alas.
Re: Nell Crain, this blog is her stan account, and adult Steven can kindly go away. Which, if I’m being honest, I was underwhelmed by Michiel Huisman in Hill House. I mean I saw him in Orphan Black and I remember walking away from the episode where he’s in it thinking, “oh this guy’s good.” And then I see him here and he’s just... there? Everyone made me feel and everyone had that Thing that made me relate to them easier. Not him.
Honestly with Love Quinn... I obviously do not know how batshit crazy she is, but judging from the GIFsets... she’s a chef. I’m studying to be one. Her murdering tendency and derangement aside, I just... want to go to the farmer’s market with her, buy her flowers and/or strawberries or both, and bake pies with her.

I've definitely been meaning to reviewing some of your works fore sure! Manga's still on hiatus last I checked (that special about bumps in the arms was or ch 27 I think the last one?). The Anime is getting a 2nd season this year so =D for that. I have a ton of hc's/views so I'm glad you didn't mind me blabbing. I'd say obsessed is the right word to describe 1146 when it comes to work. Even his WBC friends think he overdoes it. It even seems to be something he falls back automatically too if -
2 he's stressed out if ch 26 is anything to go by. He's not (yet) unhealthy about it but he is a overachiever who's pretty much the best of the best among WBCs and practically a one man army. Combine that with his protective drives and you've got a cell who tries to bear a lot of burdens. If Backwards Cap kun hadn't shown up 1146 might have just kept killing germs non stop w/o rest. Speaking of BK, it was really cute how 1146 right away saw how similar he was to 3808. Her cute blushing happy -
3 face popping up when he made the comparisons makes me think that's how he always pictures her in his head. XD It also goes back to my view 1146 really looks up to 3803 too. When he was telling KillerT about how amazing she was and watching her made him want better relationships w/all cells (whereas before he never thought about what other cells did). Then w/BK he got very emotional/invested when he learned how much the platelet struggles reminded him of 3803's. 1146 overall seems like a guy-
4 likes to root for the underdog. Before he was just the top dog surrounded by a bunch of other top dogs (even Eosinophil was totally awesome at her specialty). He never thought about the personal struggles of others. Even if he was really nice about it, I think he also thought 3803 was a weird cell for getting lost a lot initially. That's why seeing her move past any embarrassments/mistakes/ridicule makes him feel pride for her. After all he freaks out when cells find out he likes karaoke. XP
~~~
Hello again, dear anon! There’s a new season coming out this year! Oh my gosh, I’m so pumped! Perhaps I might be getting back into the fandom after all. And yeah, I think the last chapter that was every released was with the Megakaryocyte and Backwards Cap-kun if I remember correctly.
Hahaha, and yeah, his friend must think it really word that 1146 is so dutiful. But who would he be without that personality trait? :D I totally agree with your interpretation of his character. He certainly will go over and beyond the line of duty and he probably doesn’t have time for himself. I usually wrote 2001 like this, but he’s definitely a serious, stoic workaholic...but of course, that all changes when you bring 3803 into the equation. There, he just breaking melts like ice cream on a sunny day. All sweet and sappy.
That whole interaction between 1136 and Backward Cap was so cute! I want more 1146 with protective instincts towards other cells, especially cells that look like small children. Which brings me to another point: more platelet content!
As for the underdog thing, yup. Totally. But I don’t think 3803 is an underdog anymore. She has made progress in the last few episodes/chapters of CAW and it shows. She gets her own mentee, has made her way to the heart without help (I mean, 1146 had to make sure that her way wasn’t obstructed, but it still counts), and she demonstrated how dedicated she was to the body in that one chapter/episode with hypovolemic shock. In fact, I daresay that she is one of the most powerful characters in the series. She’s kind and empathetic, has shown so much growth, and it’s pretty much canon that she can lift very VERY heavy things. You know how much oxygen weighs? Hahahah, but I’m rambling.
Thanks for continuing the conversation. It was great hearing from you again.
Have a wonderful day!
Romantic sex in bath with Jeonghan (He's treating you like princess) I'd love to read that
welp because of the romantic aspect this turned out long with a lot of fluff in the beginning... hope you like it ♥
The closer a certain date had come, the more excited about it Jeonghan had become, and the more he wanted to do something about it.
It would be your very first anniversary as an official couple, and it had to be celebrated.
He had gone through countless options regarding what he should do, and after deciding that some were a bit too grande for a first anniversary, he had settled with a few simpler ones he knew you’d still appreciate.
Jeonghan felt his phone vibrate, and his lips curved into a smile when he saw the message from you.
‘I’m on my way now ♥’
After he had replied it, Jeonghan went to the mirror in his bedroom, where he still made sure he looked fine. He was wearing a white button-down tucked into a pair of black jeans that were on the tighter side, and his hair was neatly done, so he decided there was nothing to fix.
He went to make sure that the food he had cooked - with Mingyu helping him through a video call, during which he got to hear “Oh, God, you’re smitten,” about a dozen times - was still warm, and put the stoveplate under the sauce pot on mild heat just to be safe. Then all he could do was wait: everything was done, and the only thing missing was you.
When you finally opened the door with your spare key, Jeonghan shot up from the chair he had been sitting on. You laughed heartily from the door, carrying your bag as well as a small paper bag, containing your anniversary gift to Jeonghan, and shut the door behind yourself. “No need to get up, Hannie.”
“But I wanted to greet you,” he said in a playful mumble while walking to you, and placed one hand on your lower back, lifting your face by placing the thumb and forefinger of his other hand under your chin. His lips spread into a warm smile. “Happy anniversary, babe.”
“Happy anniversary,” you whispered and allowed your eyes to flutter shut as you, together with Jeonghan, closed the distance between your lips. The hand you were holding his present bag with was on his shoulder, and once you had dared to drop your own bag to the floor, you placed it on his arm. The kiss was fairly long and sensual, and so sweet that neither of you really wanted to pull away.
Eventually he had to, however, although his hand remained on your lower back when he smiled at you, eyes glinting with happiness. “Let’s eat before the dinner gets cold.”
You agreed and took off your shoes and put your bag at a nicer place than the middle of the floor, and took Jeonghan’s gift to the coffee table. While he went to the pots on the stove, you crossed your arms by your chest and hummed playfully. “Knowing how things usually go when we cook together, I must say that I’m intrigued by what you’ve got there.”
Jeonghan snorted, knowing more than well that you were hinting at the small yet fateful mistakes he’d make every now and then. He turned to look at you with a wide grin. “I talked with Mingyu for the whole time, so it shouldn’t be too bad. And…”
“And?” You quirked your eyebrow, your smile widening as you took steps closer to your boyfriend.
He wrapped his arm loosely around your waist and chuckled while mixing the sauce. “It’s made with love, and that automatically makes it the best food ever.”
A hearty laugh left your lips as you hugged him. “I don’t think that’s quite how it goes, but I’m sure it’ll be good.”
Jeonghan nodded readily and gave you a peck on the top of your head before letting you go so that he could get one pot to the dining table he had already set for the two of you. You got two pot coasters and took the other pot to the table with the ladle that had been next to it on the counter, humming in approval when you smelled the sauce.
“It smells really good,” you sighed contently while putting it down, and Jeonghan chuckled as he took the lid off the pot he had carried, which contained the pasta.
“I did my best.” He took the pot lids away from the table before returning with a bottle of alcohol-free champagne, at which you raised your eyebrows.
“You’ve really gone all out,” you said in fascination while sitting down on the other side of the square-shaped table. Jeonghan chuckled as he opened the bottle.
“It is a special occasion,” he pointed out, his voice soft like velvet, and gave you an adoring gaze. You could only smile at him as your heart fluttered and you let it sink in that you had really been dating someone as amazing as him for a full 365 days. He shared similar sentiments, and had many times titled himself the luckiest man on earth for being able to call himself your boyfriend.
He took a seat, too, once he had poured both of you some champagne, and you took some of the food on your plates. It smelled really good, and you were happy to notice it tasted just as good. Jeonghan took your compliments in almost greedily, happy to know that he had succeeded in making something you enjoyed - and which he did, too.
It was fairly soon that you realized a problem, however, and frowned a little. “I don’t like the fact that there’s so much stuff between us.”
Jeonghan raised his eyebrows and laughed when he realized that you were separated by approximately everything. “Should we make some room for you next to me?”
You nodded, and once the two of you had moved the pots and champagne bottle and whatever else was on the way, you sat down on the side of the table that was next to Jeonghan’s, and placed your hand on top of his for a moment. A happy smile graced your lips as you spoke. “This is much better, don’t you think?”
“Definitely,” he said quietly and leaned in for a soft, loving kiss with his hand holding yours lightly.
You continued eating while talking: you told Jeonghan what had happened during the day, and he told you something about his, although he had spent most of it preparing for the present moment. It melted your heart to know that he had put so much effort into it, and at the back of your mind you decided that when your next anniversary strolled by, you’d be the one doing the most work.
But for the time being you wanted to focus on the great night with him that you had already started, and appreciate every little detail about it.
When you were done eating and drinking, you took the dishes away together and Jeonghan stored the leftover food while you put the dishes into the washing machine.
“What do you have planned next?” you asked teasingly as you closed the machine, and were met with Jeonghan, not even a meter away from you. He grinned.
“First of all,” he began quietly and placed his hands on your waist, and yours locked behind his neck as you looked into his eyes, “I’ve got something small for you.”
A happy smile spread to your lips, too. “Good, because I got you something as well.”
He grinned and leaned down to give you a series of light kisses that in all honesty were mostly just teasing, but when you grumbled and pulled him closer, you finally got a proper kiss, one that took your breath away for a moment.
Then he parted from you and took your hand into his, leading you to the coffee table where your gift bag was, next to another one that you hadn’t noticed when you had placed yours down.
“I totally missed that,” you said in disbelief when Jeonghan leaned down to pick up the gift bag that wasn’t yours, and picked up your own as well.
He chuckled, holding his a bit nervously. “It’s nothing much, but…”
“It’s the thought that counts,” you smiled reassuringly and stroked his arm before giving him his bag. “Here’s yours.”
Jeonghan accepted it with a soft smile, and gave you yours as well. You were surprised yet utterly happy to find your favorite scent inside of the bag, and Jeonghan’s eyes widened a little when he saw a box that, he realized upon opening, contained a bracelet.
“I know you have the one from your family that you rarely take off, and I don’t intend you to replace it,” you said, hinting at the very familiar bracelet that was, even now, peeking from under the shirt of his button-down, and sneaked your arm around his waist. “So I got you a thinner one you can either wear with it or on your other wrist.”
“Thank you,” he said, voice once again soft like velvet, and got his arm around your shoulders so that he was able to hug you. “I’ll definitely wear it.”
“I could say the same,” you giggled and showed him your favorite scent with an appreciative hum. “You know me well.”
You gushed about the presents for a while more, after which you spent a while just lying down on the couch, cuddling and talking and making out, until Jeonghan cleared his throat.
“The grande finale will take place in the bathroom, so just say when you’re ready,” he chuckled, and you quirked your eyebrow.
“That sounds fun,” you giggled and looked at your boyfriend, your chin resting on his chest. “What have you been plotting?”
“You’ll see,” he muttered mischievously and held you close. “I think you’ll like it.”
Squinting, you said you still wanted a few more minutes of cuddling with him, and Jeonghan had no objections. Eventually you got up, however, and said that you were ready to move forward. Before you were able to, Jeonghan shot up and gave you a grin. “I’ll go set a few things up first.”
You nodded, and a few minutes later he returned from the bathroom, wrapping his arms gently around you while you looked out of the window, trying to get a glimpse of the stars, as dimmed as they were by the city lights.
“Everything’s ready,” he said quietly and placed his chin on your shoulder. You placed your hands on his arms and turned your head around to nuzzle him a little.
“Let’s go.”
He led you to the bathroom, where you were both amazed and amused. If there ever was a cliche you had always squinted your eyes at, it had to be rose petals, whether they were on top of a bed, in a bath or on the floor.
And indeed, the bathroom floor had a trail of deep red rose petals.
“Really?” you asked Jeonghan with a snort, and got a snicker from him.
“It’s kind of a joke, really, but they are romantic, aren’t they,” he laughed and waited expectantly as you continued taking in the sight, which in all honesty was the most romantic thing you had ever witnessed.
Besides decorating some of the floor with rose petals, Jeonghan had also placed candles of different sizes on top of the counter where the sink was, as well as on top of the small washing machine in the corner of the bathroom. You wrinkled your nose curiously.
“Is this vanilla?” you asked and turned to look at Jeonghan, who grinned widely while nodding.
“I wanted to go for something calm,” he said and moved to stand behind you, from where he could begin sliding your thin cardigan off your shoulders, pressing his lips to your exposed skin.
“Well, I really like it,” you noted and sighed as he kissed your shoulder, and soon turned around to unbutton his shirt as well. He let you do that while his fingers slid slowly down your sides, until his thumbs were sliding under the waistband of your jeans. From there on they moved to your front, and with his lips travelling to your neck with small kisses, he opened the button and zipper of your jeans.
You bit on your lower lip and got his jeans open as well - opening the belt buckle excited you more than you wanted to admit - before breaking away. Anyone could’ve looked messy like that, with his white button-down open and only half out of his jeans that were also open, yet Jeonghan didn’t. Instead he looked sexy as hell, and you couldn’t help but smirk a little at that.
“That’s quite a look on you,” you teased while getting your shirt over your head, and Jeonghan took a look in the mirror. Snickering, he nodded and ran his fingers through his hair, messing it up a little, which only added to how good he looked.
“Who would’ve known,” he hummed and took his shirt off before sliding his jeans down his legs, too. You watched him with as much interest as you always did, taking in his broad shoulders and smooth skin, and one of your favorites - the trail of dark hair leading from his navel to his boxers.
With your shirt off, you also took off your jeans, and were about to get your bra off when Jeonghan shook his head disapprovingly and came back to you, moving your hands away from the hooks of your bra. He had a mix of a pout and a grin on his face and sounded mock hurt when he spoke. “I can’t believe you almost denied me of my favorite thing on our anniversary.”
You rolled your eyes playfully and let him unhook your bra and slide them off you, and were not in the least surprised when you felt him cupping one of your breasts as soon as he could. He hummed happily while kissing your neck, and you shook your head in amusement as you began pushing your panties down your legs until you could step out of them.
“I think you forgot something,” you said quietly and pointed at the bath tub, still void of anything. Jeonghan nearly gasped and rushed to put the water on, after which he took his boxers off and came back to you, taking you into a hug, ‘just so that you wouldn’t get cold’.
As you hugged him back, you noted that the scent of vanilla had spread further in the bathroom, but luckily it wasn’t too strong, and the candles altogether gave it all a very nice, romantic atmosphere. You weren’t sure how serious Jeonghan was with it, but you liked it a lot.
While you got comfortable in the tub, your back leaning against the gentle end you were on, Jeonghan looked at you with a warm smile on his lips. You looked up at him and quirked your eyebrow, playfully lifting one of your legs so that your knee was above the water. “Aren’t you going to get in?”
“I just wanted to adore you for a moment,” he chuckled with a faint hue of pink on his cheeks before getting into the tub as well, easily settling there with your legs on top of his awkwardly crossed ones - while he was glad his bathtub was a bit wider than a normal one, it still didn’t allow him to cross them properly, but he was satisfied enough. You looked at him with such a teasing glint in your eyes that he couldn’t help but stroke your legs. “So, are you feeling relaxed?”
Feeling him stroke your legs felt all kinds of pleasing, and so you nodded with a grin. “Oh, definitely.”
Slowly, Jeonghan’s hands began moving higher up your legs, until his thumbs were gently rubbing your inner thighs. You shivered, at which he chuckled quietly.
“I was thinking…” he whispered and got up on his knees before moving closer to you, until he could easily lean down to kiss you with a hand cupping your right breast, which immediately made you gasp. “...we could have some fun of our own here.”
Your breath hitched the slightest bit at his touch as well as his lips brushing against yours, and there was absolutely no hesitation in your nod. “Let’s do it.”
He smiled and leaned down to kiss you, this time properly. You got one arm around his neck and got the hand of the other in his hair, your legs wrapping lightly around his waist as you kissed each other passionately.
Little by little the kisses grew deeper, his tongue dancing with yours with more hunger and your hands holding his hair just a bit tighter, tight enough for him to let out a quiet sigh against your lips. One of his hands remained on your breast, squeezing it lightly every now and then, and when his thumb grazed over your erect nipple, you couldn’t help but let out a quiet whimper as you shivered.
Jeonghan breathed heavily, and especially when you slowly slid your arm away from his neck and took your fingertips lightly over his chest, you could feel him getting hard when he began slowly grinding against you. His movements set off small waves in the tub, and you giggled at that, your lips curving into a smile between your sloppy kisses.
“We should do this more often,” you said breathily when Jeonghan simultaneously held your breast snugly and ground into you hard. He raised his eyebrows.
“You think so?” he asked teasingly and slowly slid his hand down from your breast all the way down to your heat, sensitive to his touch although the water made most of your arousal non-existent to touch.
You bit your lip as he gently slid a finger into you, and some time later, a second one. Your hips began moving on their own accord to meet his digits fairly soon, and you got both of your hands on his shoulders. “We’ll see when we’re done, but so far I’m enjoying it.”
Jeonghan’s lips tugged into a smirk, and he leaned down to press a kiss to your collarbone while his fingers moved inside of you slowly. “Let’s hope it stays that way.”
Eventually you slid one hand down to Jeonghan’s cock, already almost full hard, and began stroking it steadily, as well as you could from your position. He grunted and shut his eyes, and you only got more turned on when you could see the effect your touch had on him, all the while you bucked against his fingers.
“Okay,” you said a bit suddenly when the need for something more got too bad to bear, and broke the silence that was mostly accompanied by quiet splashing of water and both of you breathing more or less heavily and letting out a sound of pleasure every now and then. Jeonghan opened his eyes and looked down at you, looking incredibly inviting as you lay against the gentle end of the bath. You swallowed. “Let’s move forward.”
He agreed readily and pulled his fingers out of you, although before anything else, he reached for a small tube that was at the back of his laundry machine top. When you raised your eyebrows, Jeonghan chuckled with a grin. “I thought I’d play safe, so I got some waterproof lube just in case we need it.”
You snorted, but touched his left cheek appreciatively either way, considering that while feeling his fingers inside of you did feel nice, there was little to no lubrication to be felt because of the water. “Oh, I think we’ll need it.”
Jeonghan gave you a gentle smile and got a bit higher on his knees, so that his length was out of the water. You watched hungrily as he stroked himself a few times before squeezing some of the lube on the tip of his length and smearing it around, all the while you rubbed circles onto your clit, slightly impatient. He noticed it, but didn’t say anything at first - instead, as he was leaning down a little, you felt his hand grab your wrist and pull it up, bringing it next to your head.
“I’m right here, baby,” he whispered and moved closer to you. He lowered back to his knees and aligned his slick cock with your entrance; you gasped at the sensation as he slowly pushed some of himself in, accompanied by a satisfied groan by him.
Your free hand reassumed its place on Jeonghan’s shoulder while the other held his hand tightly until he was all the way in. A quiet moan left your lips at that, and your legs wrapped around his waist again. He rolled his hips a little while kissing your neck.
“Tell me when it’s good,” he said quietly, and you giggled, caressing his neck.
“It is good,” you sighed contently and moved your hips a little, so that you moved on his cock, which made you moan. You were too turned on to wait. “Please.”
He took in a deep breath, and with one of his hands still holding yours, he began moving, slowly and so sensually. The soft scent of vanilla as well as the dim lighting made it all incredibly romantic, and even with the water around you, you knew you’d treasure the memory as a whole.
Jeonghan was rubbing into all the right spots inside of you as his hips met yours one time after another from an angle where your clit got some stimulation, too, and that if anything had you moaning. Your noises rang a little in the bathroom, and while it amused Jeonghan, it only made it that much harder for him to keep his thrusts slow; it wasn’t exactly a secret that he had an immense weak spot for your moans.
Feeling like you needed just a bit more, you began mirroring his movements a little, and grinned when Jeonghan let out a grunt. “You can go a bit faster.”
“Oh,” he said almost dumbly, dazed with his own arousal, and leaned down to kiss you while his hand let go of yours. You barely had enough time to get that hand, too, on his shoulder, when began thrusting a bit faster, reaching new depths inside of you and making the waves in the tub bigger.
You laughed when you saw the water go over the edges of the tub, and twirled some of the hair at the back of Jeonghan’s hair around your finger. “We’ll have a lot to clean up soo-- ah.”
He bit his lip at the way your sentence was interrupted by your moan and chuckled quietly while continuing his thrusts. “It’ll be fine.”
With both of your arms around Jeonghan’s neck, it wasn’t too difficult to pull him down for some kisses, some lasting longer while some were a bit messy because of his movements. You sighed every now and then, already feeling the familiar knot forming in the pit of your stomach that only tightened with every thrust of his.
“Make me cum,” you whimpered against Jeonghan’s lips and tightened your legs around his waist while sliding one hand down from his neck to your clit. He grunted and slid a hand to your hip, rolling his own while thrusting into you steadily, nice and hard.
You were a moaning mess beneath him, and you loved it all, loved the way he felt inside of you; loved the way the warm water felt and moved around you; loved the faint, calming scent of vanilla that made its way to your nose even as your orgasm continued building up inside of you. Jeonghan could hardly comprehend how good you felt around him, and in his mind the strain on his knees was definitely worth it.
There was something very exciting about having sex in a bathtub to begin with, and with the setting as romantic as he had made it, it got so much better for both of you.
“Y/N,” Jeonghan breathed softly against your lips, and you whimpered as you continued massaging your clit, desperate for your release. Little by little he could feel you start to tighten around him and hear your moans rise in pitch, only somewhat muffled by his lips, and not much later you clamped down around him and held him tightly, crying out in satisfaction as your fingers dug into his shoulders.
It was precisely the feeling of your nails digging into his skin joined with how tight you were around him that threw Jeonghan over the edge as well, his breath hitching for the time he took releasing into you once he had thrust in deep.
Once you had both come down from your highs, with you slowly unwrapping your arms and legs from around him and him pulling out of you just as slowly, you both chuckled.
“This definitely can’t be the only time we do this,” you said with a meaningful raise of your eyebrows, and got a grin from Jeonghan, who leaned down to kiss you lightly.
“I’ll keep that in mind for the future,” he noted when had broken away from the kiss, with your noses rubbing together a little. You nodded and leaned up for another kiss, and then another, and another, until you decided that it was about time to change the water and have the actual bath as well as get clean.
You washed each other’s hair and backs while giggling a little, and Jeonghan noticed that there was, indeed, quite a bit of water on the floor. He decided that it was fine, however, and only took care of it when you were both nice and fresh and had soft towels around yourselves.
“If this was our first anniversary, I can’t wait for the next one,” you hummed as you sat on the edge of the bath tub. Jeonghan chuckled and turned to look at you with a floor squeegee in his hands, having just gotten the water from the floor to the drain.
“I like your optimism,” he sing-sang mysteriously, and laughed when you gasped. “I’m kidding, of course there’ll be a second one. And a third, and a fourth, and--”
“Thank goodness,” you said with a pout and hugged him tightly, having gotten up from the edge of the bathtub. “That’s not something to joke about.”
“Sorry,” he smiled and gave you a kiss on the top of your head. You sighed quietly, leaning your head against his chest with a small smile climbing to your lips.
Oh, how you loved him.
NOTE: This is where things are gonna start to shift a bit.
Another week or so passed. To be honest, you really missed nothing, other than Stephen giving me a plastic baggie with some of my stone-flakes in it because he wasn't sure what else to do with them. He also gave me one of the bottles of Soft to keep in my place, just in case it happened again. That did seem like a precaution I should have already thought of myself.
And a lot of Knives. A loooot of her hanging around, and finally weaseling my number out of me so she could text and ask if she could come over. I ignored a lot of her texts, but she still always managed to get me to agree to a time she could come bouncing through my door with one of her attack-hugs at the ready. We mostly just watched movies or played video games. Met up with Stephen and Joseph some other night at a sushi place. And the whole time, I didn't know what to do with myself.
Before you ask, there were a couple of close calls. Because we can all tell where this is going already, so I'm just putting it out there.
Three nights after we were watching the samurai movie, she came in for a hug. Slower than usual, and I mean like, at a snail's pace. Turned out, she just thought it would be funny if we bumped noses, but I was just slightly-drunk enough to think she was going in for something else. I blame the tequila shots, and therefore, on Steph who had ordered them. Dumb lush. But I managed to play it off that she was just too close to my face, and that was why I flinched.
Then there was the next day, when we split a Canadian from Pizza Pizza for dinner. We both went in for a slice at the same time and our hands touched; that old thing. I accused her of being a greedy bitch, but she was just biting her bottom lip and giggling before she flicked a mushroom at me. It made me either want to slap her, or… I don't know. For the life of me, I don't know what the fuck was going on in my head, but she let me brush it off and grab a different slice.
But as they say, all good things must come to an end. Which isn't exactly what happens here, but like, go with it, okay?
                                                            ~ o ~
"I don't understand," she was sighing as she swung upside-down from the monkey bars in Hillcrest Park, jeans-clad knees taking the brunt of her slight weight effortlessly. "My mom acts like she's so worldly, but then she doesn't want me to have a totally normal barista job because it'll distract me from meeting 'a nice man' or becoming a doctor, or whatever."
I sighed as I picked at some peeling paint on one of the bars. I was sitting on a 'step' for the kids to climb up to the slide, though my omnipresent black cloud of misanthropy had kept any actual children far away from us. "She's being a mom. That's what they do: pass judgment on their children's decisions. Mine are in the professional league."
"That sucks." Her eyes went up — and in this case that means they were pointed at the sky, not above her head, which would have been sand. "Don't my tits look great like this?"
"Sure," I snorted. "I m-mean, what makes you think I noticed?"
"Nothing, Kim," she giggled. "Just a thought I had. Oh, did you know TCAD is getting back together?"
I pursed my lips for a moment before answering, "Are they really?"
"Kind of. I mean, it's not the original lineup, though. That'd be huge news, since that jerk Todd was turned into coins!" She flipped up through the bars and began walking on top of them, arms out to the sides to help maintain her balance. "Think the new bassist is that girl from Smashing Turnips. They broke up, remember? Plus they're holding auditions for new drummers but I heard she doesn't want guys applying. Sounded like she was pretty sure of that."
"So now they're an all-girl band? Quaint."
"Envy said in a press release that she was thinking about staying solo, but I guess she had a change of heart. But she did start going by 'Natalie' again, 'cause the solo career didn't work out for her. She said 'I'm just not cut out to be a pop star, it's too high-maintenance'." Then she gasped and turned to look at me. "DUDE! You should so totally try out!"
My eyes widened. "What?! Knives, you-"
"Think about it! You're a drummer, and a girl, and they're super-"
"KNIVES!"
But I wasn't upset about her needling me into life decisions. She wasn't paying attention to what she was doing anymore, and had started to slowly fall off the monkey bars. A little yelp of surprise sounded as her running shoes slipped down and back off the metal, arms windmilling. The world slowed to a crawl. Heart in my throat, I dove, and just barely managed to catch her before falling into the sand around the playscape.
"Shit… are you okay?!" I demanded, my voice an octave too high.
But she wasn't listening. Her eyes were round, and she had her hands locked around the back of my neck. She looked stunned speechless, which was a new look for her. My hands flexed awkwardly in her armpit and under her knee as I held her slight weight, which was still a little heavy but I'm a drummer, so I have a decent amount of upper body strength. I could handle it.
"You saved me," she breathed.
"What? Well… y-yeah, I couldn't let you… fall."
"Um… I probably would have been fine. It's only like five feet, and there's sand everywhere." Her face was closer again. Probably going in for another hug, like last time. "But you caught me, Kim."
For some reason, I couldn't put her down yet. Swallowing down my panic, I whispered, "What if you broke your neck? I'd… I could never live with letting that happen to you."
"Why not?"
She was prying into my feelings and motivations too much. Gruffly, I snapped, "Who else would annoy the hell out of me every day? What a stupid ass question."
Even though that was intended to get her to laugh and call me a dork, or say I was funny, or just to tell me I could put her down, it didn't seem to work the way I hoped.
Because Knives kissed me. And I mean kissed me… and I kissed back. Really, we might have done it at the same time, like when you and a friend automatically go in for the fist bump when something really awesome happens because you're both on the same page. Something about the moment just needed it, even if I didn't fully understand why. Her lips were soft and sweet, and familiar; I knew we'd kissed when drunk, even though I couldn't remember most of it. And the gentle weight in my arms made it perfect.
Of course, once we broke apart a few seconds — minutes, hours, centuries — later, I went into pure panic mode. Or tried to. But the lip-on-lip contact had robbed me of actual power and ability to move. Not like the time I turned to stone, though; this wasn't that serious.
"O-oh," was all she said at first. Though the look in her eyes and the way her breathing was so rapid and shallow told me that the "oh" meant a lot more than that, so just this once, I didn't snap at her to explain.
"Holy balls," I managed to breathe.
"Where did that come from? I mean… it was…"
When her face started glowing, a small, private, sacred smile of pure joy blossoming, I had to drop her to the sand and stand back up, turning around to grip the monkey bars overhead to keep myself from falling over. Why was I so dizzy? Why was I overreacting? I mean, a little part of me had been able to tell that we were trending in this direction. Like magnets, or gentrification of old neighbourhoods; sometimes you just can't stop it. Yet I had kind of thought it might never happen. Or at the very least, it would take longer than a few weeks.
"Kim?" One of her hands came to rest in the small of my back.
"Whoa, whoa," I squeaked, spinning around so fast I almost fell myself. "J-just because we- I mean, you shouldn't- don't do that!"
"Sorry," she breathed as she lowered the hand, rubbing her fingers together as if trying to rid them of the memory. I know I could definitely still feel them on my back.
"No, don't…" Sighing, I pressed both my hands into my face. "AGH!" There was a high-pitched whistling sound. "What the hell is even happening anymore?!"
After a few seconds of silence, Knives cleared her throat. "You, um… does steam come out of your ears normally?"
"No! And it didn't just now, either!"
"But I saw-"
"Nevermind that! Just…" Running hands through my hair, and feeling that it did feel a little warmer and more moist than it should have been, I looked over at her. "Can we just rewind about five minutes and forget that ever happened? I… whatever that was, I'm not ready. I'm not ready for it, Knives."
A little shrug of her shoulders as she stared down at her running shoes. "I haven't unlocked that power-up yet, Kim. Sorry."
"Stop apologising, too! Like… we didn't do anything wrong, it's just way past what I can handle right now. Okay? Please, just… I can't even believe we're having this conversation. And on a playground!"
Ugh. Do you have any idea how terrible I felt? Panicking and making her feel like it was all her fault. It was so hard for me to explain my own feelings that I wound up trampling all over hers. But I didn't know how else to react.
"Kim… it's okay," she said finally, cautiously putting her hands on my shoulders. I twitched, took a step backward, but she followed and kept them there. "It's okay. I don't really understand this, either; I mean, I didn't think I was a lesbian. But then again, I didn't at Julie's aunt's, either, and that still-"
"Let's not talk about that, either," I grunted, ashamed of myself. "Especially since you were still in high school."
"Barely," she made sure to remind me. "But… seriously, you made me feel loved that night, and you made me feel loved just now." My eyes must have bulged in panic, because she reassured me, "Like a friend! A good friend who, uh, doesn't mind… that sometimes? If that's cool…"
"Just how far did we go?" I had to ask.
"Made out for a little while. Some… other stuff, but nobody took off their swimsuit," she assured me nervously, and I sighed in some slight relief. "And it was great! But if you want to not do that again, I'm fine with that. Seriously!"
Temptation reared its ugly head. "Well…" Then I shook myself, gripping at my hair around her hands still on my shoulders. "GAH! Like, I'm kinda curious, but also have never… I mean, I've dated guys all my life, this is a pretty big curveball of a life choice, if it is one. And I didn't think you were anything more than just a friend before today, so isn't it crazy to change statuses all of a sudden like this?"
"Why does it have to be some big 'choice'?" she chuckled softly. It made me mad that she wasn't being serious. No… that isn't true. It made me jealous that she wasn't having as much trouble with it as I was. Yeah, that's way more accurate. "I mean, either you want to kiss me or you don't. Whatever, right?"
"Right. Just so easy. Is that why you've been hanging around me so much? Hoping to wear me down?"
"What? No, I wouldn't- that's not it at all!"
"Are you sure?" She squirmed, but didn't back down. "All that time hanging around, you just were hoping that it would happen again. Great. I thought I really had a friend, and you're just another Scott waiting to happen."
But that was a low blow and we both flinched, her hands falling away from me. Before I could apologise, Knives got to it first. "Kim, I'd never do that. It's hard to blame Scott for what he did, because I hearted him so much, but that's just… not the kind of thing I could ever do to a friend! S-so please, don't say that I would…"
"Knives… shit." Pinching the bridge of my nose, I said, "Okay. You're right, I'm… not being fair."
"You're freaking out is what you are."
"Definitely. Can we… I don't know. I want to run away and hide, but I also don't want you to leave."
"Wanna go to Delicious Cup?" she suggested, again touching my arm. This time, I didn't react, either positively or negatively. "We, um, can just talk there. PDA in the café would be a little gross so it'll make kissing less of a… does 'issue' make sense? Is that the best word?"
Nodding, I swallowed hard. "Yeah. It's a great word. Maybe even word of the day, because I clearly have issues."
"Kim, nooo," she half-whined, grasping my wrist and pulling me along. We only made the briefest of stops to snag our bags from the deserted swingset before heading off past the wading pool. "I mean… I kinda freaked out the next morning after the first time, too, so I totally get it! I just… already worked through all that, maybe? Not with a legit therapist, just did a lot of thinking, and talking to Tamara."
"You talked to Tamara about this?!"
"Not a lot! Just, like, sorting through my feelings! And she wouldn't tell anybody, she's my BFF!"
My body felt like it wanted to turn into stone again, but I forced myself to breathe, to stop acting like every weird moment of my life was the end of the world. "Okay… you're right. Back in those days, I probably would have tried to talk to Stephen about this if I could remember more about that night. But I just wrote it off as being drunk. I mean, I never tried to make out with Ramona, or Julie, or…"
"Actually, I kinda heard that you and Ramona had a slight moment," Knives laughed. When I turned round eyes on her, she protested, "From Lisa! Like, remember when we all got together before she moved away?"
"What moment did we have?" I demanded.
"Something about you and she and Scott being all in the same bed, and you telling them both that you loved them." When she looked back after a few seconds of silence and caught me blushing, she giggled. "You were talking, not doing anything else. At least, I'm pretty sure I'd have heard about anything else."
"Oh, good. I mean, if I had a threesome with Scott and that hair-changing hipster, I'd blow my stack."
The bridge of her nose crinkled from the force of her smile as we made our way toward the bus stop. "Already did that once today. Seriously, can you teach me that trick with the steam?"
"GOD, SHUT YOUR HOLE!"
