funny story

I'm late diagnosed autistic however i use to stim A LOT as a child

but the thing is - my main stim was PLAYING WITH PEOPLE'S EARS.

Not my own. I never ever did it with my own because my own aren't the right texture. But my parents ears were, so I would reach out and flip the top part of their ear back and forth like one of those pop fidget thingies

Like DO YOU SEE IT do you see what I mean

my cartilage was too thick to do it so I would literally sit there in my parents lap with a pacifier in my mouth just fiddling with their ears staring into space

for like 15 minutes at a time.

I am an only child so my parents never questioned it they just assumed that's what babies did 😭😭😭

Adults would be like why is your baby doing that and my parents would be like 'oh ya know - im sure they have their reasons'

Family members would be like hey you should get them to stop doing that and my parents were like 'why??? it's harmless. they're literally a baby. chill.'

Meanwhile I was like six years old

And I did it for YEARS.

Theyd be like 'cut it out my ear is getting sore' so I'd stop five minutes later im like

gimmie ear.

I even remember trying it on people who didn't have the right ears for it and being like... completely disinterested in having them hold me

thinking like 'oh ur ear sucks u can put me down now 😖😒'

and honestly i love myself. that's such an autistic power move

being like not only will i stim but you will stim with me. in public. right now.

this sure needs more study but i think a big part of the problem with the "stans" of some female characters is that they hide behind the term "feminist" when their real interest is to prove their self-insert is "desirable". i mostly notice this particular behavior in the "shipper" portion of these fandoms, as the "wives" status of certain characters is measured based on how beautiful/powerful their husbands are. many of these shippers think that having a husband (specifically a handsome one) is proof that the female character of their choice is attractive and therefore "beautiful" because, let's face it, desirability is all this boils down to; even their need to show how "powerful" or "strong" they are (often by providing examples of how "superior" their fav is to other female characters) is more about them being recognized, admired, and desired by the male characters.

#this is not to say that some of the defenses they provide are likely a response to misoginistic comments made by the fandom #but i've seen time and time again how sakura “won” against ino because sasuke is prettier than sai #or how hinata is more important than sakura because she's the hokage's wife #and let's admit that both things are stupid to be proud of #sakura was able to pester sasuke to marrying her #yet she wasn't able to get a miserable kiss #and hinata needed a genjutsu for the man she confessed her love to notice her #i mean #you think he'll remember the time you almost became hyuga paste. he wasn't traumatized enough apparently #anti sasusaku #anti ss #anti naruhina #anti nh #anti sasusaku fandom #anti naruhina fandom

I used to think that most people had more sense before I got into this fandom because the way people just completely disregard Louis' (and Claudia's) blackness in a show that is an adaptation of a book where the main character owned 2 plantations and hunted slaves for food while talking about his hatred and fear of those he enslaved is like incredible. And to not understand that the show is taking aspects of its source material to task. And to come in with such a superficial understanding of how gothic romance is depicted in Western media, to imply that Louis being put into a role that is almost always taken up by white women is something that's to just connect to a more common audience? Like do you hear yourself? And I KNOW many of yall don't engage with black gay art I KNOW you don't listen to us and often think us outside of queer experience but at some point you are going to need to contend with the fact that there might be something deliberate with the way Louis talks about his relationship with Lestat. The way Claudia interacts with him vs Lestat before and after ep 5. The words she uses to describe the two of them. The books and art put on screen. The costume design. At some point you need to realize you don't know what the fuck you talking about
