Anyone know where I can read Lauren Monger’s Clementine comics/I think they were called “Habits” on Vice? They’re not online anymore and Wayback machine isn’t giving me anything... did she ever print a compilation of these? I have Sleepwalking but I’d like the rest... the one where clem gets called a bag lady is especially choice and I can’t find it anywhere

Doria was introducing Kim & Kris to others as her dear close friends Read/Watch this video with a bucket nearby. The massively plastic surgeried up lawyer, Gina Zapanta, who was a sponsor of this gala & who invited Doria, also invited a middling level influencer buddy from Louisiana, Jenn Palpallatoc to this fundraising event. Jenn gives a lengthy and excessively gushing account of the invitation, the gala and the weekend, noting the party was held at Henry Winkler’s house, and it was Doria who introduced Jenn to Doria’s dear, close friends Kris and Kim, which was Jenn’s dream come true. That is how Jenn says Doria was introducing them. The evening later included some Harkle favorites of hanging at the Beverly Hills Hotel/Polo Club and going to In-N-Out (where they‘ve memorized Harry’s animal-style order since he eats there so frequently). It’s excessive fan-girling, but it’s note-worthy that KJ & KK are allowing Doria to play gatekeeper to them and are fine with her introducing them as her dear close friends. For those who haven’t read Bower’s book, Doria spent much of her adult life sitting on her stoop in a house coat (pajamas) smoking weed (which was illegal) all day long. She is Hot Pocket trash along levels you can’t imagine unless you grew up in a trailer park. Doria being a gatekeeper for Ricky & Julien at Sunnyvale seems infinitely more believable. And yet, this happened, according to the fawning Jenn. Maybe Meghan really is spending her days filming competitions with the Kardashian girls to see whose va-jay-jay smells the best, since that is the quality entertainment level we are talking about here. If the proper UK authorities don’t strip the titles after hearing about this, they deserve to have this kind of Kardashian trash mongering grafted into their royal lineage. Does MI-6 even exist? *** Update: when I tried to paste the link to this video, which I literally just watched right before drafting this post, it is now gone. That means Jenn took it down. It seemed innocuous enough as it was Jenn putting on her makeup while recounting her dreamy LA weekend trip. The video was longish and had cutaways to both still photos and video clips along with captions, so Jenn put some time and effort into this project. She also gushed about Bezos & Lauren Sanchez and explained how Fonzy’s daughter had cofounded this charity and how she missed Gina’s birthday the week before, blah, blah, so it was newsy. But she spent most of the time on how Meghan Markle’s lovely, down to earth mom Doria introduced her to her idols so she could get her pics with them. I have to wonder if it was Meg’s people who asked Jenn to remove the video? And if so, why? It’s removed from her main IG page and the IG video page. Did anyone else watch this before it vanished? Any thoughts on why this was made to disappear? It was pretty long and detailed for an IG vid. How would you pitch the upcoming Captain America: New World Order movie?

This is a direct follow-up to my Thunderbolts write-up (link to the post)

MAIN PLOT:

It's the 2024 U.S. Presidential elections and the current president has chosen not to run for re-election, leading to competitive primaries for both the Democratic and Republican parties. Since Sam Wilson is the new Captain America, candidates from both parties are reaching out to him in hopes of getting his endorsement.

Sam, dismayed by the persisting dysfunction in politics and not wanting to add to further polarization in the country, refuses to get involved and adopts a neutral (moderate/centrist) position as Captain America. This leads to discontent from all sides, with many deeming him as a spineless coward who stands for nothing.

One of Sam's biggest critics is Luke Cage, who has since become a community activist working out of Harlem. Due to Luke's hard-hitting criticisms of his actions, Sam is forced to reflect on his role as Captain America. He wants to be a unifier, but he has no idea how since the country is so torn apart by political divisions. Sam reaches out to Luke for help and, despite Luke's criticisms, the two form an unlikely friendship.

One night, while attending one of Luke's community meetings, Sam is contacted by Rikki Ashcroft, a White House employee-turned-whistleblower. Rikki says that the 2024 election is rigged since the leading candidates from the Democratic and Republican parties are both part of the same, secret organization. Before Sam can dismiss Rikki's warning, the two are attacked by mercenaries.

The rest of the movie is centered on Sam, Rikki, and Luke trying to figure out what the hell is going on in the 2024 election. Definitely "Captain America - The Winter Soldier" vibes is the intention here.

The big reveal is that the leading candidates are part of the National Force, a far-right extremist group that formed from the remnants of HYDRA. In contrast to HYDRA's connection to the Nazis, National Force is solely focused on American exceptionalism aka they want to "make American great again".

The movie ends with Sam giving his endorsement to William Burnside, a leftist/progressive candidate who was seen as the most morally righteous of the candidates (he's basically a younger Bernie Sanders/Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez). But, PLOT TWIST! In the post-credits scene, it's revealed that Burnside is also a member of the National Force. His image as a progressive candidate was just a ruse to get people to vote for him.

Movie ends with Burnside being elected as president, leading into "Thunderbolts".

because in interviews and according to the other actors he's a mega fun and well

last season the eskel of it all was just a little too much on top of everything else

and he's been very vocal about fighting about the integrity of his character and his commitement to the source material.

maybe this is the kind of artistic differences hollywood equivelant of citing irreconsiliable differences in the divorce

we'll see i guess.

PS you are my favourite The Amazing Devil fan by the way, i'm head over heels in love with them and seeing you go berzerkers over their lyrics is like. YES.

the consensus seems to be that he's leaving to go back to superman but we might never really know to be honest. yes he's very vocal about being a big fan and staying true to the books, but i also get the impression he has quite an input (lauren seems to give off that impression anyway) but maybe that's intentional so we get behind the writing, idk lmao. like I say, we'll probably never really know, it just is what it is.

Without even mentioning the issue of gun violence, the issue I want to discuss here is the incitement of hate. Especially the incitement of hate towards the LGBTQ. There is a lot to be said about any public figure inciting hatred of a marginalised group and how this can rally their impressionable followers to act. Celebrity is a powerful thing. Celebrity can be used to being people together if a certain public figure is influential enough. However one’s celebrity can also be used to insight misinformation, defamation and hate mongering.

These anti-LGBTQ public figures do have a lot to answer for. They are not being responsible with their celebrity status, they are insisting hate a pond a hell of a lot of misinformation. Which is why so many on the right are so quick to claim all the LGBTQ are groomers and so fourth. Correlating one’s gender identity and or sexuality with “grooming” is blatantly homophobic and transphobic. Spreading this narrative will and does influence others to act and attack our community.

So yes people like the Lauren Boeberts of the world ought to be called out. And we persons of the LGBTQ community should take every opportunity we can get to call these people out. We need to denounce the conspiracies, lies, propaganda.

Being gay and trans is not something that needs to be hidden away, it’s part of our existence. We should remain proud and unapologetic. We are who we are, and have nothing to apologise for.

She’s yet another idiot anti-vaxxer who then came down with COVID-19.

At Tumblr, Witzke was “Fanatical Republican Extremist of the Day” for 23 September 2020.

The ADL says of Witzke:

Witzke ran a failed GOP campaign for Delaware’s senate seat in 2020. She is a white supremacist, former co-host of the antisemitic TruNews and current executive producer for The Stew Peters Show. Witzke brags that she is a “strong ally” of the Groypers Movement.

I bought some wonderful books, stickers, and vintage lesbian pulp novel covers turned postcards in San Francisco.

At City Lights, I picked up Revolutionary Letters by woman Beat Diane di Prima, Lawrence Ferlinghetti’s San Francisco Poems, and The Promise by Silvina Ocampo tr. Suzanne Jill Levine and Jessica Powell. I picked up A City Inside by Tillie Walden and The Times I Knew I Was Gay by Eleanor Crewes, plus two indie comics—You Can Try Again by Olivia Walch and Sleepwalking by Lauren Monger—at Sour Cherry. And I was able to pick up Valencia by Michelle Tea at Booksmith, and a signed copy of There and Back Again by Pat Murphy at another indie.

It was a good haul, and I felt everything I picked up wasn’t just a book I wanted but was connected to the place I was visiting, which was definitely my goal.

Pitch for Captain America 4 / the SamCap movie:

MAIN STORYLINE:

It’s 2025. After the 2024 presidential election, Tom Kimball is elected as the next president of the United States (his political party is intentionally left ambiguous). Sam Wilson, who was pressured into endorsing Kimball due to his status as the new Captain America, is currently facing heavy backlash from progressive groups all across the country due to Kimball being considered a “bland centrist”.

One of the more notable critics is Luke Cage, who has since become a political grassroots activist since we last saw him (this is a continuation of his reputation as Harlem’s hero).

Less than a week after the election, Tom Kimball is assassinated. To make matters worse, the assassin was disguised as Captain America at the time, thus framing Sam. Suddenly the most wanted man in the United States, Sam goes on the run, hoping to find a way to clear his name.

While on the run, Sam, with the help of Luke Cage, thwarts an assassination attempt targeting Vice President Rebecca “Rikki” Liefeld while she was at a town hall meeting in Harlem. Realizing that there’s a bigger conspiracy going on, Sam, Luke, and Rikki join forces to figure out who is behind these assassinations and what their motivation is.

As the movie goes on, we learn that the figure behind these assassinations is Josh Glenn, a U.S. Senator who is secretly the terrorist “Hate-Monger” and the head of the National Force, a neo-fascist organization that is deeply rooted in HYDRA’s ideology. Despite putting on a friendly face for the public, Josh is a fascist who thinks the “liberals” have destroyed America. Josh also despises the fact that the new Captain America is a black man.

SIDE NOTES:

1) I want to emphasize that the National Force is NOT HYDRA. If HYDRA represents the Nazis, the National Force represents Neo-Nazis and modern day right-wing paramilitary groups. Think Oath Keepers or Proud Boys.

2) Vice President Rebecca “Rikki” Liefeld is the MCU adaptation of Rikki Barnes, Bucky’s granddaughter. That’s one of the plot twists of the movie, that Rikki learns her long-lost grandfather is Bucky. The last name was changed to preserve the twist, with Liefeld being a reference to Rob Liefeld, who helped create Rikki.

3) The main trio of the movie is Sam Wilson, Luke Cage, and Rikki Barnes. Sam and Luke don’t get along at first, which reflects their differing political values (Sam is a moderate while Luke is more progressive). The two men eventually grow to respect one another, with Rikki acting as a sort of mediator for the two of them.

4) For those who don’t know, Tom Kimball is a reference to the 1990 Captain America movie.

5) Due to the focus on the Sam-Luke-Rikki trio, Bucky Barnes isn’t really a major character for this movie. He mainly appears during the final battle and meeting his granddaughter Rikki for the first time.

1) Mike Colter reprises his role as Luke Cage

2) Lauren Cohan as Vice President Rebecca “Rikki” Liefeld (later, the President)

3) Alan Ruck as President Tom Kimball

4) Billy Magnussen as Senator Josh Glenn (the Hate-Monger), the main antagonist
