DSMP members with an S/O struggling w/ imposter syndrome HCs. (GN reader)

Warnings: imposter syndrome, cursing, fluff {that’s not rlly a warning but I’ll put it in there anyways..}, usage of real name {On Quackity's part})

for those who don’t know what imposter syndrome is: “Imposter syndrome is loosely defined as doubting your abilities and feeling like a fraud. It disproportionately affects high-achieving people, who find it difficult to accept their accomplishments. Many question whether they're deserving of accolades.”

One of the most common forms of imposter syndrome is not feeling deserving of good things which is what these HCs will be heavily mentioning.

This was more for self-comfort because I suffer with this kinda thing, but I decided to put it up for other people who maybe suffering with this kinda thing too or for people who just need some comfort <3

-When he offered to go out and grab some food, and you said “no, I don’t think I really deserve that kind of treatment, but thank you for offering” -his brain stopped and he went -”wait what?” -He got fuckin PISSED at himself. -no lie he started cussing himself out like, -“Jack, you didn’t treat them right and now they don’t think they deserve anything you dumbass. You expect them to love you when you can’t even let them know they deserve the world? Goddammit!” -then he’ll turn to you and go -“Babe, you deserve so much more than I can give, so let me do at least this for you.”

-Mans on god goes; “Yoooo, faking mental illnesses? Nooot cool bro.” -and you just look at him like “I’m serious dumbass. 😐” -and he’s like “oh… you’re not joking-“ -immediately he’s all over you hugging you and pecking your face, “do you wanna go out and get McDonald’s?” -”no I don’t deserve it..” -”alright let’s go, hop in the car we’re going to McDonald’s and you’re getting whatever the hell you want.”

-So when he brings you out to a nice snazzy resturant and you only get some thing simple, like a salad or something, or just don't get anything at all, George is like -"Hey.. I promise you, you deserve the world, and even more than that, so let me treat you." -He then proceeds to try to order something not as simple to try not to seem like a hypocrite or like he's making fun of you.

Wilbur Soot <333333

-I cannot express how loving this tall boy is, he literally loves you so much -so when he finds out you have imposter syndrome -He's literally trying so hard every chance he gets to pamper you -"Babe, please, I don't deserve this kind of stuff.." -He whips his head around so fast while making you your warm bath, -"...no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. You do, Luv. Plus at this point why would I drain the water? You're already here and the water's already full..." -He joins your little bath (with your consent obviously..) -He's super gentle with you it's not even funny- -I just love him sm 🥺💖

Quackity <333333

-He already knew from the start when you started dating that you had imposter syndrome, but never brought it up because he thought it might be a sensitive topic with you. -You two never really went on fancy dates -When it came to dates it would really just be you both chilling in bed and watching a movie or smth -but when you guys went out to a shop or smth and he bought you something, you immediately go -"Alex, how expensive was this?" -"Why should it matter?" -And you give him one of those 'just tell me' looks -"Babe, it's a gift you don't tell the price of a gift." -You look at him with the most nervous face he's seen you with in awhile and you go, -"Then I don't want it. It was probably really expensive and I don't deserve money being spent on me." -Quackity shrugs and just puts it in the bag he got for it -Later that day you go to your room and see the bag sat on your bed with everything he bought you in it <3

Red Raven (OC) <3

-Okay so, know that Raven can be a little hyper, but she can also be a super calm person when needed. -So when she finds these little hints of imposter syndrome you're unknowingly dropping, she treats you well everyday, and takes you very seriously with your problems -when you finally go flat out out and say it that you think you don't deserve all of what she's giving, she says in the sweetest voice ever, -"Y/N, I love you to death, and I can never promise a tomorrow, even with how healthy and well I am, you never know what could happen, so let me treat you while I'm still alive and breathing. Alright, Luv?" -No lie makes you wanna cry but you hold it in cuz you don't wanna cry in a public area. -We love that- We love Raven. Right? Right. I love you Raven. <3

Nihachu <3

-Girl had no idea what imposter syndrome even was when you brought it up. She was basically like, -"Bestie I have no idea what that is, hold up lemme google it real quick." -Oh, she didn't like what she was reading. -"Y/N, you have this? This is not good, this is bad.." -She makes sure you feel secure at all times, even in not very secure situations, -She cooks for you, -She makes little crafts like earrings or necklaces for you, -She buys you so many things, -She takes you out as much as she can, -She's just overall trying to make you feel better about yourself and being super sweet to you.

You and your crew were getting ready to film a new video, billzo was really tired because he was playing all night.

"I’m so tired" he said closing his eyes.

"I literally told you to not spend that much time on your pc last night Bill" you answered, laughing a bit because seeing your boyfriend like that was really funny to you.

His arms were wrapped around your waist, his head resting on your neck.

You sat down for a minute, waiting for Ranboo and Jack to install everything.

billzo followed you on the floor and looked at you.

"I’m tired y/n" he said "Please let me sleep on your shoulder for a moment" he surprisingly asked.

To be honest, he never asked before showing his affection.

"Why would you ask Bill?" you said, laughing slightly at him.

"I don’t even knooow" he said, cut by a yawn.

He put his head on your shoulder and starts closing his eyes.

You were talking to him, he was just groaning as a yes or a no.

His eyes were closed and you could feel the weight of his head getting heavier on your shoulder as his breath was getting slower.

You started stroking his hair and you were smiling, you took a selfie, of course you had to show twitter that.

"look at them, such a cute couple" Jack said, smiling like a fool.

"Ew, love" Ranboo said while laughing.

You smiled at them while showing off your middle finger.

You had a half-asleep billzo on your shoulder "Your shoulder is very very comfortable my dear y/n" he finally said.

You laughed and decided to stay like that until Ranboo and Jack got ready.

it was opening night, and you were resisting a panic attack in your dressing room. one of the stage hands was tugging hopelessly at the skirt of your dress, desperately trying to hide your mic with the skirt. you hadn't had a rehearsal with this exact dress before, since it had had needed alterations, but you had one with a similar one, and none of the costume designers had realised your mic pack would stick out so obviously. curtains were due to open in ten, you could hear people from backstage, and no one wanted you to go onstage with a lump in your costume, which had been fitted to rest perfectly against your skin.

you were scrolling through your phone, trying desperately to calm down. you were trending on twitter along with some of your costars, and you flicked your thumb up and clicked on something random on the trending list, assuming you would just see a bunch of tweets about bitcoin or something that you didn't care about.

instead, the first tweet was from someone you had never heard of. "@ tommyinnit have you seen hamilton?" you clicked out of it, expecting to see the tag was about the show, when in reality it was about the person who tweeted. wilbur was his name, and according to the trending page, he had done a twitch stream and sung one of the songs. you hestitantly went back onto it, slightly curious. you'd never heard of this guy, but from the videos he seemed funny, goofy in a slightly awkward way. one of the responses - the top one - was a reply from tommyinnit himself, though you had no idea who he was either. it was a picture of wilbur with another guy, presumably him, with the hamilton sign in the background, waiting to get in their seats. "no, only lame people go and watch musicals."

"hey," one of the stage hands touched your elbow gently. "we got you another mic set, we got six minutes until curtain, eight 'till you're on. we got this," you helped as she undid your blouse, unhooked the mic, and you spent the next few minutes on a walkie with some of the tech crew making sure it was working properly." you had just done the top of your dress back up when you heard the opening notes play, you taking your position sidestage.

wilbur was wedged into a seat between tommy and jack, wishing he'd accepted niki's option of swapping seats. she was with ranboo, tubbo and shubble over near the aisle, while they were right in the middle. since it was opening night and the show was overwhelmingly popular, they hadn't managed to get seats all together. luckily, they could sit in groups of three, with phil and kristin sitting a few rows back. but unluckily for wilbur, tommy wouldn't shut up.

the lights were dimming, and he had to elbow the blonde boy in the rib and gesture to the stage so he didn't get shushed by someone nearby. the opening notes began and will finally allowed himself to feel excited. he watched as all the familiar characters came on, finally getting the visuals to accompany the soundtrack he fell in love with. burr, laurens, lafayette, mulligan before finally alexander hamilton himself. the only reason he knew who anyone was before their names were said was literally because he had listened to it so much he could tell their voices apart without the visual component.

you glided onstage, beige skirt billowing out as he started singing, and wilbur found his eyes glued to you. you were in the background for most of the opening number, except for when you interacted with hamilton.

tommy jabbed him in the rib, wiggling his eyebrows as he tilted his head towards you. you weren't in the first few songs much, except in the rafters, but wilbur watched you. finally, the first parts of your song came on, and he sat up straighter as he watched you and your two sisters come on.

the show was incredible, he knew it would be. the way you all moved around the stage, with the music vibrating through his hands resting on the armrests. the music, the atmosphere, the acting, they all enhanced the experience of something that already brought wilbur a great amount of joy. but when he watched as the dancers surreptitiously picked up the paper they'd thrown everywhere until the stage was clean except for you, a fake stone bench, a lantern and a bucket. he had goosebumps, watching tears roll down your cheek as the paper in your hand burned, flames slowly growing. you threw the letter down into the bucket, grabbing your long skirt and marching to the front of the stage.

he could even hear tommy and jack's breath hitch in their throats as you belted. it was a sad song, of course, but you made wilbur want to go and punch the guy who played your husband.

"she's good," tommy commented. all wilbur could do was nod. he was almost relieved when you finished your last note, not wanting to see you so heartbroken. his relief only lasted for one song, before suddenly the lights snapped down and you let out distraught scream, watching as your son died in your arms.

he was crying, jack was crying, even tommy was sniffling. the rest of the show was more political, thankfully. but for the last song, watching you stand centrestage with the entire cast behind you as you sobbed, wilbur was already mentally searching for tickets in his mind.

after that, they went to mcdonalds, tommy's phone sitting on the table vlogging them. "what did you think, will?" niki nudged him gently with her elbow.

"mhm" will looked distractedly into his fries. "good,"

when she didn't reply, his head snapped up. niki sat across from him, eyebrows raised. his cheeks burned as she laughed, not meanly, and he hoped desperately that tom would have the tact not to put that in the video.

he did eventually get three more tickets for two days later, and phil and kristin agreed to go and see the show again with him. this time he was able to focus on you in the background more since he'd already see the show.

your costume, a billowing blue dress, made you look absolutely gorgeous and will couldn't take his eyes off you. your character had one of the saddest arcs and his heart broke whenever tears welled up in your eyes. he was never able to cry on command, and the fact that you could filled him with admiration.

now, you didn't recognise everyone. you'd seen literally thousands of people over the last three days. but you saw wilbur. it helped that you already knew who he was (you'd stalked his instagram after opening night), but you noticed him the second time he came.

and the third time, a week later. it was a big theatre, but somehow your eyes zoned in on him.

perhaps it was wishful thinking on his part, but he'd made eye contact with you twice. he'd followed you on twitter after that third show and almost had a stroke when he saw you follow him back.

over the next month, two things happened:

1. he went and saw you two more times

2. phil tweeted "@ wilbursoot are we streaming tonight or are you going to watch hamilton for a sixth time?"

he'd laughed, scoffing at phil's tweet, ready to type up the site to find tickets and take a photo to continue on with the bit. then he saw your reply.

"@ wilbursoot if you're not already sick of the show, i might be able to get you some free tickets?"

well he would be stupid not to take them.

Fic Recs July '23

What did I read this month? Aufest released, and I made it through the end of Extreme timed exchange, and there have been some WONDERFUL ones. Not entirely DSMP, even though I am Still That Way, but yeah, it's still a lot of Emduo. I Am Who I Am. And we have some TNTduo and QSMP in there too!

The characterization is top-notch. Like, note the tags, it's not a happy ending, but it's an ending that hits like a fucking hammer. And there's BALLER art and web weaves attached.

It was two weeks later when the next grand ball was hosted. I hadn’t seen her since the night we met, but my thoughts had been ruled by her presence every day since.

I saw her in everything I encountered, whether it be a flower along the sidewalk or the canary chirping outside my window.

I was actually speaking to Tommy about all of this in the days leading up to the ball. --- “Will?”

“Yes?”

“How does love work?”

“Hell if I know.”

“Well if you don’t know tell me what you do know.”

“I know some things about women, I can tell you that”

“Well?”

“I know that women are gentle. They care very deeply, and they are very careful with their love. If they choose you to share their time with, they love you so thoroughly that it tears through you. It’s like a tidal wave washing over every bone in your body. It’s impossible to define.”

“Sounds like you’ve got something figured out.”

“Dear brother, that is only the tip of the iceberg.”

On the day of the ball, there was an immense feeling of fear looming over me. I knew that I would see her again, but I worried that her feelings had died by now. I sat in my bedroom, staring at the wall, wondering.

“Dear? What is troubling you?” I heard the soft chirp of my mother’s voice say from the doorframe. “How did you and father first meet?”

“Well, we met in a season like this, about twenty-eight years ago. Goodness, I’m an old wench by now, but that isn’t of much importance. It was my first season and your father was nineteen. He saw me across the ballroom and was the first suitor to ask me for a dance. We danced for a while, and he charmed me with his vast knowledge of wilderness survival. I wondered why the son of a Viscount would need to know how to skin a rabbit, but I found it an interesting hobby of his. We danced some more, and he led me to the gardens. He took my hand and swore up and down that he would make me his. He knew that night that he wanted to marry me. He upheld his promise, and we were married by the next spring. The rest is history. Now please do tell me what sparks your sudden interest, or more, who?”

“I met a wonderful woman at the last ball, the most divine I have ever seen. I mean, I am absolutely encapsulated by the thought of her and it is driving me mad! I’m just worried that her feelings will not remain as deep as mine.”

“Well, then let her know how you feel! If she is as wonderful as you say she is, then she won’t be around forever. Feeling’s don’t just die, they grow, and they ebb and flow.”

“I will do what is the best mother. Thank you for your advice,” I said as she engulfed me in a hug.

“I trust you will let me meet this girl someday, yes? I never did have any daughters.”

“Of course mother, of course.”

We arrived at the banquet hall, and it was obvious that I was a bundle of nerves. Hell, I was practically shaking as I adjusted my cufflinks for the thirtieth time today. Tommy must have noticed because he gave me a quick punch to the shoulder, and told me to loosen up.

Loosen up?

Sure, yeah, sounds easy enough.

I found a glass of champagne and hoped that the alcohol would calm my nerves. It didn’t help.

I looked around the ballroom for a while, trying to find her. What I did find was her brother and his wife dancing together to the jaunty tune the band was playing.

I looked around them for her, and my efforts were met with the vision of her hair in an intricate updo and wearing a navy blue dress.

Ironically, the exact shade of navy I wore when we first met.

Genuinely, she was more breathtaking than the moment I first saw her. She watched her brother and sister in law dance as my gaze was trained on her. Her face twisted up in a sweet smile as the dance came to an end, and I found myself walking over to her family on the opposite site of the ballroom.

“William, how nice to see you!” George said, Cornelia on his arm. “It’s amazing night isn’t it?” Cornelia said, kissing her husband on the cheek.

“Certainly is quite a pleasant affair,” I said, giving them a kind smile, “How are you doing today Lady Davidson?”

“Much better now, I suppose. How are you, my Lord?” She said, curtseying to me as I bowed. That damn eye contact will be the death of me. She bore a hole into my very soul as we shared pleasantries.

This woman was enough to bring a grown man to his knees.

“I’m absolutely fantastic,” I said, giving her a quaint smile and never breaking eye contact. We just stared at each other for a moment before George broke the tension with a laugh.

“Well then, I believe I hear the band revving back up, would you two mind joining us for a dance or two?” He said, and I looked over to Y/N, offering her my hand as we went to face each other on the dance floor.

“Wilbur, please do indulge my thoughts for a moment…” She said as I twirled her around in time with the music.

“Of course, I wouldn’t want to miss a word.”

“You really work overtime just to flatter me,”

“I assure you, it comes naturally.”

“Oh goodness, case and point. Anyways, I wanted to ask you what you see as the point in these interactions. I know how I feel about it, but I want to ensure we’re on the same page.”

“Well,” I pulled her close, “I know that when I’m able to be in your presence, the world feels smaller. It’s just us and the stars. The privilege of hearing your voice makes me want to tune everything out because I know that I will never hear a sweeter sound in my life. I feel safe when I’m around you. I don’t feel like there is a single ulterior motive in any of this, just two people who have nothing to prove enjoying eachother’s presence. I enjoy this, and I wouldn’t trade the moments we’ve shared for anything.”

Her expression changed from analytical to emotional as she pulled me closer.

She initiated the change. I was worried people would think poorly of us because of our uncharacteristic advances, but I pushed that feeling to the back of my mind and embraced the moment.

“I am… absolutely ecaptured by you. Let me just relish every second until the end of time.” She said as she continued her pursuit to pierce my soul with her gaze.

I didn’t feel like I needed to ask her the same question, because she answered it with the way she held me in those moments.

It isn’t spoken enough about how men feel about being held. I had never in my life felt so safe until I was along the outskirts of the ballroom with yes, her within my grasp, but she had me wrapped around her finger.

I knew how she felt.
