So the mysterious piper who's been tormenting Linda is actually Abra Kadabra, and Team Tentacle Monster is doing a great job of demoralizing Wally and stirring up trouble. Wallace and Avery know what's happening, but they're partially out of phase with reality and are now prisoners of the Linear Bureau, so it'll be challenging for them to inform the rest of the Flash Family about what's truly going on behind the scenes. Meanwhile, the Crown of Thawnes is still controlling Barry and making him act strangely, and Wally…is just giving up. It's tough to blame him, as he's been seeing carefully-curated moments of his family dismissing or rejecting him, and he's been made to believe that he and the other speedsters are destroying reality. That's enough to instill despair and depression in the cheeriest person.

Of interest is what the Tentacle Monster's minions are getting out of all this. Grodd and the Folded Man's rewards are pretty straightforward for them, but Kadabra is to get a "psychic flayer" for reasons unknown, and Gauss doesn't even know what Evan wants but dismissively suggests it's "a hug". So that leaves the matter open (as far as the reader's concerned), and certainly implies emotional distress on Evan's part. That'd be entirely understandable, as he's been gone from the DCU for quite a few years, his friends probably forgot he existed during that time, and who knows what kinds of things happened to him during his exile. That's on top of the trauma we know he had before the universe was rebooted. So yeah, he's probably been going through a lot as of late. Hopefully we do eventually learn what he's been promised, but maybe he doesn't even really care anyway.

This issue gave some answers that I'd been hoping for, so I'm more satisfied with it than the last few issues of the book. The depression themes are still very heavy, but I'd like to think there's a light at the end of the tunnel and the characters will be feeling better once this arc/crisis ends…I guess we'll see, though.

Based on date I have to assume this was for Feybruary but that’s definitely Irey as a sylvari so who knows what I was thinking at the time.  I spent a lot of early 2022 trying to sort out how I wanted to handle sylvari commissions in the future coz I love doing them but they are also potentially really arduous just because there’s so much more detail and colour involved than most things I draw

      Jon wasn’t sure how the two had crashed into each other - probably something to do with super speed and super strength colliding at an inopportune time - but  he wasn’t upset that the wind was knocked out of him by Irey. It was just like them to meet each other again like this. “Hey.” He was breathless, arm wrapped around her waist so she didn’t fall when they struck. “I didn’t know you were here.”

They took time all together for a new photo 🥹.

I think a real fun and neat part about all the speedsters in existence dealing with their powers glitching them into 5D incomprehensible planes filled with Eldritch Horrors and nightmares on the daily is that we get to see their reactions to that.

Wally, for example? He shoves that shit deep, deep down and tries to pretend it isn't happening. Denial all the way baby, let's go.

Ace and Avery? Play videogames and hope it goes away while you teeter on the verge of a panic attack.

Irey? Stare at the void and watch as it stares back.

Jai? Stare at the void and then get beat up by the void. Cry a little. The void stole your clothes, now what?

Barry? Depressive spiral. He's in his room now. He lives there. The door is locked.

Max? Spiritual enlightenment. Speaks to the Speedforce Buffalo

Bart? Unfazed. Doesn't even realize it's happening because this is just Tuesday for Bart. He's eating novelty pickles. Get on his level.

So far, that's a Bat as (presumably) the adult supervision with two Flashes, Animal Man's daughter, and two Terrifics (Michael's kid and Terry's ward) as the main team...fascinating choices by Jeremy Adams and Travis Mercer

every time the dc universe resets its because one of those quick little bastards got the zoomies cause they forgot to take their adhd medication and ran so fast they crashed face first into the time stream and it fucked with everyones origin story again

Spoilers for Flash #1!

There are ostensibly no Rogues in the issue, but there's a possible hint of Hartley amidst Linda's obvious postpartum (and post-speedster) depression. Or maybe the pipe music is just a manifestation of her depression, who knows. Unfortunately it seems that Wally's preoccupied with his own substantial Speed Force problems and doesn't notice hers, which is probably going to blow up in his face.

Mostly noodling around with this new brush but ALSO planning romancable NPCs for my Netherdeep campaign to torture my players with. Irey is a ranger this time around and as usual a winter eladrin. I actualy really liked ranger for him compared to some other builds. Druid still probably the most accurate class for him though.
