in a city of millions of people ONLY selina can care about the poor and east end/park row and ONLY helena can care about children and rape victims 😉😉 but we can steal jason's traits and give them to tim (btas lmao) or bruce (ul cheer) and then wholesale lie about jason's personality to make batman look good/victim blame him for his death 😉
Well, because I'm a contrarian at heart, now I will disagree with this a bit, even though I never shut up about the story-breaking double-standards imposed on Jason.
Just to touch on some stuff before I get to the "trait-stealing" discourse...
Almost all superheroes and even many villains-who-have-standards do care about children and rape victims. I can see how some fans would get upset at seeing the broad claim that certain characters really really care about victims, because it implies that most other characters don't care enough. So, yes, all heroes should and do care—although different fans might latch on to different characters that express care in ways they find personally satisfying.
I don't think too many people are arguing that BTAS "Timmy Todd" isn't an adaptation of Jason. Once people realize how much BTAS Tim was clearly inspired by Jason, then most people seem to agree that those are signature traits of Jason. There isn't much debate there, as far as I can tell.
Others have covered Cheer thing better than I could.
I would say, yeah factually, Jason hasn't been a community-based hero in canon, and that's something I find really compelling about him. Like several months back on Reddit (yeah yeah I know lol), I did bring up Selina in the Brubaker run as a contrast to Jason. Selina became a community-based hero in that era, and Jason was not.
I believe that Jason did not think of himself as someone who can make connections with others (at least before he was magicked back into the Batfamily by the Morrison run and the New 52). He couldn't be a community-based hero because he couldn't be part of a community. He wasn't building up a neighborhood, he wasn't a neighbor to anyone. He did help people—and then he'd leave them, just walk away without a personal connection. I can't quite articulate it, but there is a distinction between Selina's streak of running away from "being domesticated" for better or for worse, and something like Jason's belief that he is this thing that is incapable of connecting with people. (Jason's immature idea that it's not his role to heal people and be part of society is the very idea that Bruce keeps reverting to as a middle-aged ultra-rich man with several kids and a famously massive support system btw! Bruce is literally doing it again right now!)
Also Selina did do all sorts of selfish, hurtful things when she was Jason's age, and when she was older too. (And she was AMAZING at it! I'm not against her Robin Hood era, but I miss her self-indulgence and misadventures as a rogue.) Helena was going ham mowing down ᴛʜᴇ ᴍᴀssᴇs ᴏғ ʟᴏᴡ-ʟɪғᴇ sᴄᴜᴍ back when she was a bit older than Jason is now as a defanged ex-villain in current-day comics. (Hey, I'm not going to be some self-appointed cop holding her accountable for that. Sometimes fictional women set fictional men on fire to cope. 🤷‍♀️ Her outfit looked great while she was burning people alive in front of children. We Aquariuses are free spirits.)
I'd love for Jason to return to Crime Alley and set up there. He's this guy who kept having his connections cut over and over, then became this weird tumbleweed thing cut off from everything, and then he could regrow his roots where it all began. As you say, there are millions of people in Gotham to help (...or to haunt; lesser evil Jason could be my jam too). And that's exactly what fan fiction is supposed to be—fans' wish-fulfillment for the potential of stories and characters. Yes, there is fanon in the fan fiction. That's where the fanon belongs.
A lot of this "trait-stealing" discourse is not helpful, it's not kind. It's not interested in actually exploring the contrasts and parallels between these characters. It's actually stripping these women and girl characters of their traits and their journeys to label them "Female Jason". It's an echo chamber, maybe even a bit a snobfest.
Like I'm sorry. The stories of these women in their mid-20s and 30s who have lived in their own apartments, established their careers, formed adult relationships, come to understand their sexuality—they don't have the same journey as the societyless freak-of-nature zombie boy beefing with his own dad who is the local god-tyrant.
If I argued that Helena, JPV, Cass, and Damian all retread the same boring tortured killer cult-deprogramming redemption arc, then that'd be reductive and narrow-minded and frankly anti-storytelling of me.
Or if I just jumped to assume that fans who headcanon Bruce as Jewish are stealing his cousin Kate's canon Jewishness and refusing to engage with a canon Jewish lesbian character out of sheer bigotry, then that'd be skipping straight to the most negative possible assumptions that I could make about actual real-life people and their motives.
That's really the worst part of this. Reaching to assume the worst in real-life people. The moral posturing. This need to display superiority. Over—I can't emphasize this enough—the consumption of corporate American superhero comics.

hi if u don’t mind me asking, could u please elaborate on your thoughts on the critique of contemporary anti-intellectualism (specifically on social media)? i’m legitimately curious and enjoy a lot of ur analysis and commentary i mean this in good faith :)
Broadly speaking, the philosophical concept of anti-intellectualism tends to critically describe the ideological + rhetorical relegation of intellectual production to an elitist practice fundamentally at odds with the interests of the layman; and, crucially, the treatment of these categories as fixities. I disagree with the propositions of that philosophical discourse as well, but that’s not always the form that the discourse takes on this website. On here, ‘anti-intellectualism’ is more of a vague catch-all used to describe anything from people who express frustration with the literary canon & mainstream schooling in ways that don’t coddle the sensibilities of people with literature degrees to people who come out with outright fascistic views on provocative art; it attempts to corral what are in fact very disparate positions and perspectives under the umbrella of insufficient ‘intellect,’ often shorthanded to ‘reading comprehension’ or ‘media literacy’ (or ‘[in]curiosity,’ a new favourite) without any materialist investigation into what we mean when we talk about intellect and literacy and a lack thereof or whether this is a politically expedient description of the dynamic[s] in question.
When I say materialism, I mean it in the Marxist sense, ie. as a counter to idealism—because what’s being described here is a fundamentally idealist (and therefore useless) position. The discourse of anti-intellectualism as it exists on this website relies on idealist propositions—people lack curiosity, they lack interest, they are ‘lazy,’ they are ‘illiterate’ where ‘illiterate’ is not a value-neutral statement about one’s relationship to a socially constituted ‘literacy’ but communicating a moral indictment, at its worst they are ‘stupid,’ ‘idiots’—these descriptors rely on an assumption of immutable internal properties rather than providing a materialist description for why things are the way that they are. These aren’t actionable descriptors; at best they’re evasive because they circumvent serious interrogation of the conditions they’re describing, at worst they’re harbingers of an inclination towards eugenicist rhetoric. The discourse casts those who are ‘illiterate’—which in this capacity means those who fail to perform conventional literacy, who lack a traditional education, who don’t demonstrate sufficient interest in classic literature—or the more unkind ‘stupid’ (which, frankly, is what people want to say when they say ‘illiterate’ or ‘incurious’ anyway, lmao) as socially disposable and places the onus of changing one’s behaviour (so as to not be cast as illiterate/incurious/stupid) on them rather than asking what conditions have produced XYZ discourse of social disposability and responding with compassion and ethical diligence; I hope I don’t have to explain why this is eugenicist.
The discourse also lacks an ability to coherently describe what is meant by the ‘intellectualism’ in question—after all, merely appealing to ‘intellectualism’ is a similarly idealist rhetorical move if you don’t have the material grounding to back it up—and indeed tends to dismiss legitimate critiques of intellectual + cultural production as ‘anti-intellectual.’ People love to talk about ‘literacy,’ but don’t like expounding on what they’re actually describing when they do so—the selection of traits and actions that come together to constitute a correct demonstration of ‘literacy’ are built on the bedrock of eg. an ability to thrive within the school system (a mechanism of social control and stratification), fluently speak the dominant language by which this ‘literacy’ is being assessed (in online spaces like Tumblr this is usually English), and engage with the ‘right’ texts in the ‘right’ ways where ‘right’ means ‘invested with legitimacy and authority by the governing body of the academy.’ Literacy is used as a metric of assimilation into hegemonic society by which immigrant and working-class children are made rhetorically disposable unless they demonstrate their ability to integrate into the hegemonic culture (linked post talks about immigrant families being rendered ‘illiterate’ as a tactic of racism in France, but the same applies to the US, UK, etc); similarly, disabled people who for whatever reason will never achieve the level of ‘literacy’ required to not have Tumblr users doing vagueposts about how you deserve a eugenicist death for watching a kids’ show are by this discourse rendered socially disposable, affirming the paradigms which already make up their experience under a social system which reifies ableism in order to sustain itself. (This includes, by the way, the genre of posts making fun of the idea that someone with ADHD could ever struggle with reading theory.) ‘Literacy’ as the ability to understand and respond to a text is difficult and dispersed according to disparate levels of social access, and a lack of what we call literacy is incredibly shameful; any movement towards liberation (and specifically liberatory pedagogy) worth its salt needs to challenge the stigma against illiteracy, but this website’s iteration of ‘anti-intellectualism’ discourse seems to only want to reaffirm it.
Similarly, the discourse dismisses out of hand efforts to give a materialist critique of the academy and the body of texts that make up the ‘canon’—I’m thinking of a post I saw literally this morning positing a hypothetical individual’s disinterest in reading canonical (“classic”) literature as an “anti-intellectual” practice which marked them as an “idiot.” (Obviously, cf. above comments re. ‘stupidity,’ ‘idiocy’ as eugenicist constructions.) People who will outright call themselves Marxists seem to get incredibly uncomfortable at the suggestion that there are individuals for whom the literary canon is not even slightly interesting and who will never in their lives engage with it or desire to engage with it, and this fact does not delegitimise their place in revolutionary thinking and organising (frankly, in many areas, it strengthens it); they seem determined to continue to defer to the canon as a signifier of authority and therefore value, rather than acknowledging its role as a marker of class and classed affects and a rubric by which civility (cf. linked post above) could be enforced. (I believe the introduction to Chris Baldick’s The Social Mission of English Criticism touches on this dimension of literary studies as a civilising mission of sorts, as well as expounding on the ways in which ‘literary studies’ as we presently understand it is a nineteenth-century phenomenon responding to the predictable nineteenth-century crises and contradictions.) People will defer to, for example, Dumas, Baldwin, Morrison, to contravene the idea that the literary canon is made up of ‘straight white men,’ without appreciating that this is a hugely condescending way to talk about their work, that this collapses three very different writers into the singular category of ‘Black canonical writer’ and thus stymies engagement with their work at any level other than that of 'Black canonical literature' (why else put Dumas and Morrison in the same sentence, unless as a cheap rhetorical ‘gotcha’? I like both but they’re completely different writers lmfao), and that this excises from the sphere of legitimacy those Black writers who don’t make it into the authorising space of the canon; and, of course, reaffirms the canon’s authenticity and dismisses out of hand the critique of loyalty to hegemony that the ‘straight white men’ aphorism rightly imposes.
The discourse operates on a unilateral scale by which the more ‘literacy’ (ie. ability to speak the language of the literati) one has, the greater their moral worth, and a lack of said ‘literacy’ indicates the inverse. This overlooks the ways in which the practice of literary criticism wholly in line with what these people would call ‘intellectualism’ has historically been wielded as a tactic of reactionary conservatism; one only has to look at the academic output of Harold Bloom for examples of this. People will often pay lipservice to the hegemony of the academy and the practices by which only certain individuals are allowed access to intellectual production (stratified along classed + racialised lines, of course), but fail to really internalise this idea in understanding that the critical practices they afford a significant degree of legitimacy are inextricable from the academy from which they emerged, and that we can and should be imagining alternative forms of pedagogy and criticism taking place away from sites which restrict access based on allegiance to capital. Part of my communism means believing in the abolition of the university; this is not an ‘anti-intellectual’ position but a straightforwardly materialist one.
A final core problem with the 'anti-intellectualism' discourse is that it's obscurantist. As I explained above, it posits the problem with eg. poor engagement with theoretical concepts, challenging art, etc., to be one of 'intellect' and 'curiosity,' idealist rather than materialist states. In practice, the reasons behind what gets cast as 'anti-intellectualism' are very disparate. Sometimes, we're talking about a situation wherein (as I explained above) someone lacks 'literacy'; sometimes we're talking about the reason for someone's refusal to engage with and interpret art with care and deference being one of bigotry (eg. racist dismissals of non-white artists' work, misogynistic devaluing of women's work, etc.); sometimes we're talking about a reactive discomfort with marginalised people communicating difficult concepts online as a 'know-your-place' response (eg. backlash against 'jargon' on here is almost always attacking posts from/about marginalised people talking about their oppression, with the attacks coming from people who have failed to properly understand that oppression; I've been called a jargonistic elitist for talking about antisemitism, I've seen similar things happen to mutuals who talk about racism and transmisogyny). All of these are incredibly different situations that require incredibly different responses; the person who doesn't care to engage with a text in a way that an English undergrad might because doing so doesn't interest them or they lack the requisite skill level is not comparable to the person who doesn't care to engage with a text because they don't respect the work of a person of colour enough to do so. Collapsing these things under the aegis of 'anti-intellectualism' lacks explanatory power and fails to provide a sufficient actionable response.
Ultimately, the discourse is made up of a lot of people who are very high on their own capabilities when it comes to literary analysis (which, as others have pointed out, seems to be the only arena where all this ever takes place, despite the conventional understanding of ‘media literacy’ referring as much to a discerning eye for propaganda and misinformation as an ability to churn out a cute little essay on Don Quixote) and have managed to find an acceptable outlet for their dislike of anyone who lacks the same, and have provided retroactive justification in the form of the claim that not only is [a specific form of] literary analysis [legible through deference to the authority of the literary canon & the scholarship of the nineteenth century and onward surrounding it] possible for everyone, it is in fact necessary in order to access the full breadth of one’s humanity such that an absence thereof reveals an individual as subhuman and thus socially disposable. A failure to be sufficiently literate is only ever a choice and a personal failing, which is how this discourse escapes accountability for the obviously bigoted presumptions upon which it rests. In this, all materialism is done away with; compassion is done away with, as it becomes possible to describe the multiplicity of reasons why someone cannot or does not demonstrate ‘literacy’ in X, Y or Z ways in the sum total of a couple of adjectives; nothing productive comes of this discourse but a reassertion of the conditions of hegemony in intellectual practice and the bolstering of the smugness of a few people at the expense of alienating everyone else.
As I’ve said countless times before, the way to counteract what we might perceive as ‘incuriosity’ or disinterest in challenging texts is to talk about these challenging texts and our approaches to them as often as we can, to make the pedagogical practices that are usually kept behind the walls of the academy as widely accessible as possible (and to adjust our pedagogy beyond the confines of ideological hegemony that the academy imposes), and to encourage a culture by which people feel empowered to share their thoughts, discuss, ask questions, and explore without being made to feel ashamed for not understanding something. The people who cry ‘anti-intellectualism’ because they saw someone on Tiktok express a disinterest in reading Jane Eyre are accomplishing none of this.

Fandom: MCU
Characters/Pairings: Steve Rogers x witch!reader, Agatha Harkness
Word Count: trimmed right down to 1,300 exactly to fit the challenge (see below)
Summary: You wanted out before, but now you were compromised as the bait in your own trap and were becoming desperate for freedom. As he had said famously, the price of freedom was high. Desperation was dangerous. Desperation was fed by hope. Desperation erased the limits of reasonability. You had crossed lines, and you wouldn’t stop now.
Content Warnings: sexual situations (p in v), magic, sorcery, trickery…
Additional Notes: Written for the Friday the 13th challenge hosted by @boxofbonesfic. This one lives in the shadows rather than straight up dark… Another one or two hundred words I may have gotten it darker, but here we are.
A/N 2: Steve returned the stones and came back, because...that's what he did. Literally why would he have done anything else?
Tumblr media
Foreheads pressed together, he thrust into you again and again, the yearning engulfing both of you. He held himself over you, leaning on his forearms as if to cage you in, not knowing he was the one moving further into your elaborate trap.
“How can you feel so perfect beneath me?” he asked, reverent as a prayer.
Your heart burned, but you didn’t know what to say – you didn’t want to lie, but you were also unable to form coherent thoughts as you barreled towards your release – and you could not spare any focus elsewhere or risk breaking the spell. So instead, you tilted your head up and sought his lips again for a kiss.
He shifted his hips, hitting your sweet spot, and with a few more strokes, you shuddered and gasped, your orgasm rolling over you. With the clenching of your walls, he reached the peak of his own pleasure right after, and he came with a groan, spilling inside you.
He rolled off and to his side, pulling you into his chest, and you let yourself become wrapped up in him as your breaths mingled together and you came down from your highs.
He smiled then kissed you softly.
When he pulled back again to look at you, you concentrated everything on being in this moment. Nothing could be amiss as his blue eyes discerned almost everything.
“I’m so glad I found you,” he said.
It was you who found him, but he still needed to believe for this scene.
“I love you, Steve Rogers.”
“I love you, too.”
You brought your hand up to thread your fingers through his hair and then cup his cheek tenderly. “Sleep. I’ll see you in the morning.”
He hummed and dropped off, drifting out of consciousness. You spent a few more moments whispering into his ear, planting more sentiments of devotion you needed him to absorb.
You lurched awake, pulling yourself from the dreamscape. It was taxing to project, and your lungs gulped in fresh air.
With your return, the thirteen candles around you had extinguished immediately. You sat up and pressed the heels of your hands to your eyes, furiously wiping away traitorous tears that had appeared, glad for the dimness in the chamber so your companion could not see.
This would soon come to an end. You needed it to be over. You never wanted to be this invested. He was supposed to be a mark, you drawing him in, not the other way around.
And you needed him to come to you.
To Westview.
The town had been your temporary home before the other two witches appeared and shattered it.
The chaos magic that drew Agatha to Westview was something you’d also felt immediately and wanted to flee, but the boundaries set up by Wanda – one of the first elements of the enchantment – meant you were trapped in the anomaly before you could realize you needed to escape.
Unlike the rest of the citizens, you knew.
You didn’t know everything, but your own magic kept you immune from the hypnotic spell. You knew enough to play along, bide your time, figure out what you needed to when you needed to. Agnes-then-Agatha inserted herself, and you observed, gleaned what you could, kept your head down. You let them play things out.
Once Wanda was gone, you wished to be, too.
As Agatha was trapped, you were, too.
The other citizens had been freed from the anomaly and their lives had returned to normal, but Wanda had bound magic folk to this town, inadvertently caging you in as well, unaware of the unrevealed witch in hiding.
As much as you avoided awakening Agatha from her Nosy Neighbor punishment, you came to terms quickly that you would need another witch to unravel the magical cage and escape.
It had been a feat to get her out, but together you had been able to break the restrictions of the runes and use your magic freely again. The runes had been cast hastily and while Wanda was engaged in battle with Agatha, her focus split.
However, she’d been able to create the magical cage to bind witches to the town without any distraction, and it seemed short of the Sorcerer Supreme or the Scarlett Witch herself, you may never be able to break the enchantment and get out.
You and Agatha had determined you would need someone who – despite and in many ways because of his goodness – would make the world burn for those who mattered most to them.
He may have passed on his shield to someone else, but Steve Rogers would never be able to ignore his heart, and the aim was that he would become an unstoppable force on his quest to set you free. The chances of convincing the powers you needed on the outside to come to your aid were nonexistent otherwise.
With care you had crafted the thirteen candles to commune with the soul of another.
Used individually or only in small groups, they were relatively safe. Burning all at once, thirteen communion candles were incredibly powerful and increasingly dangerous the longer they burned, and you were burning them together and nearly to the end of their wicks to achieve an illusion strong enough to enchant the super soldier. Thirteen candles could simulate reality. But they also could attract demons, ghouls, and spirits, requiring you and Agatha to continue working together – her standing watch while you went under.
You knew she was studying you now.
“Remember, he’s a means to an end.”
You turned your head to meet her gaze, unflinching. “It takes a lot to invest in making the illusion real with someone like him.”
She arched her brows. “I’m not judging you if you’re falling for him.”
You sighed. “He’s intoxicating.”
“Don’t get distracted and mess up. I know you don’t care about trapping me here, but if I’m stuck, so are you, which means no reality with Prince Charming.”
“I know.”
“The candles only burn for thirteen hours, and-“
“I know, Agatha!”
You closed your eyes for a moment and took a deep breath.
“I know.”
Agatha sighed, then stepped closer and briefly touched your shoulder. “I know you do.”
This trust between you was only temporary, but it was something for now, and the small gesture helped to rebuild your focus.
You laid back down. “I’m ready.”
“You’re sure?”
“We’re limited on time with him, too.”
One night. You’d projected yourself into his dreams twelve times in one night, creating scenes, memories, a relationship that needed to be undeniable because now you weren’t going to visit him in a dream. For your thirteenth and final visit, you were going to project to him in his waking state, and either succeed or fail.
“Light the candles.”
You closed your eyes and began your own incantation while she repeated hers to ignite the flames and fortify the protection spells.
You stood at the counter, watching the soft morning light begin to illuminate the branches outside the window, waiting for him.
Soon enough, you heard his footsteps coming down the hallway, and then he entered the kitchen behind you. You turned toward him and smiled – it wasn’t forced or fake because that’s just what he elicited from you now. He returned it, but maybe not for much longer.
“Good morning, sweetheart,” he greeted, reaching for you, but his face faltered as his fingers failed to find purchase.
“Sweetheart?”
“It’s not real,” you started. He would believe you either way – you knew that from everything you had studied about him beforehand, and all your manipulations tonight only confirmed that – but what you didn’t know was if that belief would feel betrayed or be driven to devotion.
“What?”
“This isn’t real,” you reiterated, “but it can be.”

First thoughts from just one watch under shitty circumstances with bad internet and worse sound:
RAMBLING FRANK vs RUSSIA THOUGHTS
I was very worried about this episode with how sacred the S5 DENNIS System episode is to us all. Didn't want a Thunder Gun 4 situation on our hands and thankfully they avoided it so hard! I think having the plot with Charlie, Frank, the mums, Uncle Jack and chess really helped out to make it feel more than a direct sequel.
SINNED -> DENNIS -> SINNED -> DENNIS — I'm so impressed with this. How did I, a wholeass Sunny fan, miss this for so long?! Three cheers to whoever came up with that inversion, really! Definitely something that happened in the writer's room and made everyone lose their shit for sure. I wonder who it was, could be Meg or another writer too, given how collaborative they all are!
And can I just say, Dennis the Restaurant Manager... oh how I love you so much! The Waitress is Getting Married is a personal favourite of mine and I wasn't expecting a bit of a redux of that whole situation.
I was so worried about all the "Mac getting a boyfriend and it being Ryan Reynolds" theories and I absolutely wanted none of that. Everyone had speculated it to death and it wouldn't have been fun anymore (not to mention I do not care for RR in my Sunny, I'm sure he's fine, but I don't need his and Rob's PR relationship filtering through into my dickandball show no I don't "find them cute" and I won't elaborate here anymore).
I know we'd guessed that Johnny could've been Dennis catfishing Mac, but it definitely felt like we were doing an Insane Fan Speculation more than anything — and for it to turn out to be correct! And in the best way, because we never could've seen the vibrating anal beads coming!! That's the best kind of "called it but it's still unpredictable".
It really broke my mind, this episode did. And don't even get me started on the Macdennis and queer Dennis of it all! As a longtime believer in Bisexual Dennis, I won so hard! All of us Queer Dennis Truthers won so fucking hard!
[Unpopular Take incoming] This is the first Sunny episode credited to Meg for writing that has felt so wholly "Classic Sunny" and super fuckin hilarious to me. I always appreciated her understanding of the characters and she's always a very solid writer, but this is the first time where I felt myself thinking ok, you she write RCG/Hornsby/Marder-Rosell/Chernins-level of an insane chaotic Sunny episode with multiple belly laughs and not just slightly Community-fied versions of the gang.
The closest her writing has felt like true Sunny to me before this was Dee Day, so I'm glad to see her grow and improve too, and I wonder if the podcast rewatch has helped in that regard! Must also help to have a classic S5 structure to play off in The D.E.N.N.I.S. System! (And ofc writing is collaborative, so well done to RCG and all the writers who pitched ideas and rewrites that ended up shaping this episode!)
I knew Heath Cullens directing meant a good chance of some interesting camerawork (and I've gotta say that even The Gang Inflates had some more dynamic shots than we've been getting in some of the later years and it's got to be the Cullens directing), but I wasn't expecting a whole visual callback to Being Frank! Loved it.
And the editing! The DENNIS System has always been great for cutaway gags and fun little inserts, so I loved seeing that carried out here with the cuts to Mac and Dee fucking up their dates and then finally pulling out the Magic Tissue of Mummy Issues (oh the potential for meta especially with the twins!). The pacing was so good!
Sunny pacing needs to feel like Mac crashing Dee's car into a wall while we are all Charlie watching it in real time and screaming when it's over.
Random strings of words because I'm too excited to be coherent:
Glenn's acting. His faces. His eyes. His range in this episode. Glacting. Juilliard. All the hits. All the big ones.
Mac and Dennis have canonically had sex in two different ways now, and yes, I'm including their sex tape/porn viewing sessions where they both masturbate together
Did Dennis pull out Mac's anal beads when he was asleep?
Vibrating fucking anal beads what the ACTUAL FUCK!
How many people did the gang drug again?
Danny DeVito with a vibrating asshole comedy acting 12/10 he's an international treasure for a reason
Dee stealing people's phones she's so stupid and bad at men. Never change Dee.
Uncle Jack though, pls change plz, I'm an IASIP loving degenerate so I laughed in horror at his creepiness ofc as I have since 1x7 but fucking hell man, can he be in his jail era already! Poor Charlie!
Hey, Charlie's got new America's just as we were promised on the pod
Oh I should make a post about everything we saw in this episode and that episode of the pod where they gave us all those hints, especially Meg talking about struggling with this cold open — added to the never-ending list of drafts and posts that will hopefully one day make it onto the blog yeah I'm lying to myself now
Parental issues everywhere this season, especially with the mums. Reynolds kids, I can't wait to lovingly put you under my microscope. Once I've rewatched this episode with good sound.
Also just in general, the SINNED system just says SO much about our babygirl's psychology, does it not? Why did so much of it sound like self-insert speeches, like he's been doing this to Mac or smt? Don't even talk to me about The Gang Chokes!
What does r/iasip have to say about— no, I'm in my happy place, I'm not even gonna go there.
Mrs Mac and Mrs Kelly watching TV together like that, they really are lesbian life partners.
Dennis blue shirt with top-stick between those buttons, my beloved. I am looking, respectfully.
And can we talk about the "opening the ketchup bottle" scene? We have to take about that scene! Dennis... he's ruining me... need to gnaw on him and suck on his fingers wait I'm browning out...
Sidenote: I love whenever the show references news stories which were super fucking big at a very specific time in a very specific niche, especially with my whole family being so chess-obsessed. The cheating scandals and anal bead… never thought I'd see a Sunny crossover but can't say I'm not loving the shit out of it!

Chapter 15: Tendou Pt. 2
You were left standing on the dimly lit street, a maelstrom of emotions swirling within you. The encounter had taken an unexpected turn, and your mind raced to make sense of it all.
Go out with me.
His words echoed in your ears, sending shivers down your spine. The proposition was ludicrous, absurd even. You had barely known him for an hour, and here he was, demanding your attention as if it were some sort of prize. It infuriated you to no end.
How dare he? Was the only coherent sentence your mind could make as you walked to your doorstep, careful to be quiet and not wake your parents, kicking off your shoes in frustration and practically slamming your jacket in the closet.
Part of you wanted to dismiss it as a joke, an elaborate ruse to toy with your emotions. Tendou Satori was notorious for his eccentric personality, and you couldn't rule out the possibility that this was just another one of his mind games. But as you replayed the encounter in your mind, a sinking feeling gnawed at your gut.
There was a strange sincerity in his voice, a glint of determination in his eyes that belied his playful demeanor. And if he acted anything like he did in his games, you knew he had the nerve to get what he wanted.
You shook your head, trying to clear your thoughts. This was not a situation you had ever anticipated, and you had no idea how to respond. Relationships, especially romantic ones, were uncharted territory for you. Your focus had always been on academics and maintaining your reputation as the diligent, kind-hearted sister of Ushijima Wakatoshi.
Nii-san... What would he think if he knew about this encounter?
You couldn't help but worry about how your brother might react. He had always been protective, and the idea of you getting involved with someone like Tendou… You have no idea how he’d react.
You couldn't escape the sense that your carefully constructed world was beginning to unravel. Tendou's unexpected proposition had thrown a wrench into your plans, and you knew you needed to figure out how to navigate this new twist in your life.
You tried going to bed in your perfectly organized room, but your mind was far from settled.
What should you do?
Should you confront Tendou and demand an explanation, or simply ignore the whole bizarre encounter and hope it would fade into obscurity? The decision weighed heavily on your shoulders as you laid in your made bed, looking at the ceiling.
You took a deep breath, resolving to keep this encounter to yourself for the time being. After all, you had a reputation to uphold, and getting entangled with Tendou Satori was the last thing you needed. But as you got comfortable, the memory of his mischievous smile and enigmatic proposition continued to haunt you, leaving you with a lingering sense of dread.
For the first time in a while, you weren’t looking forward to school.
~~
You had slept like shit.
You couldn’t relax, seeing the red-haired monster every time you had closed your eyes. It filled you with rage to think about him. So why couldn’t you stop?
You refused to think too deeply about that question, managing to drag yourself out of bed in time to do your morning routine. You had gotten used to waking up a little early and fixing yourself; whether it be skin-care or anything else, you always wanted to make sure you looked perfect.
Looks were half the reputation anyways.
You ran out of the door, taking way too much time to ensure your eyebags were hidden to even eat something before making it to school barely on time.
Great, first day and you’re almost late. What is wrong with you? You chastised yourself, making to your first class and sitting at your desk. The teacher had some sort of administration issue, so the class had essentially turned into a free period. Instantly, you recognized some people from your middle school, or to be more specific, they recognized you. You started chatting with them, and as you spoke you noticed something. You noticed they lit up when they saw you; almost like they were relieved to find someone familiar who they could trust. It was a small detail, but the little shine in their eyes, or the way they seemed to laugh more genuinely at your jokes, made you feel so much better about everything.
Your years of work had paid off at least a little. The reputation you strive so hard to keep alive, was planting roots, and soon would grow into just what you wanted. A plant big enough to see the sun, not living in the shadows.
But then you noticed rot.
“Yo—Kogara-chan!” His voice grated against your ears and made the hairs of your neck stand up. You had hoped, prayed even, that the voice was some sort of delusion. That it was somehow sleep deprivation, and not your worst nightmare standing at the door of your classroom, waving you over like you were sailing away on a boat.
Everyone was staring. Your friends, the other classmates, hell you could bet some birds were gawking through the window. You turned around slowly, thinking that maybe it was someone else, that maybe he wanted to speak to anyone else.
But no, he stared right back at you, grinning from ear to ear, continuing to point and call at you. You felt your eye twitch in fury, as he continued to beckon you.
“Come on— I only need you for a second!” He drawled, leaning against the door, head almost hitting the frame. You turned back around to your friends, which, now come to think of it don’t remember their names, utter out a quiet ‘Excuse me’ before getting up as quickly as you could and rushing out the door, away from everyone’s curious eyes. You grabbed at Tendou’s forearm, which was actually a lot sturdier that you would’ve imagined and yanked him away from the class, practically foaming at the mouth with anger when you met his taunting eyes.
“What the fuck are you doing here?” You had whispered it, but each word was laced with so much venom and hatred you were slightly surprised he had acted like you were telling him what you had for dinner.
Then again, he was a soulless bastard.
“Well, I didn’t really do my job yesterday, so I wanted to make sure you made it in one piece.” Tendou explained, resting his hands on the back of his hand, all the while looking down at you. God, if that didn’t set you off.
To be honest, there wasn’t anything that hadn’t angered you so far.
“You are so full of shit.” You seethed, but the blocker only shrugged. “Says the girl faking her entire personality.” You immediately shushed him, realizing this was a much too private conversation to be having in the hallway, and before you could really think it through, your hand, still on his forearm for some reason, began to drag him to the nearest door that wasn’t full of suspicious eyes and ears.
That happened to be a janitor’s closet.
You threw him in first and promptly slammed the door afterwards, marching up to him, not even giving him so much as a second to think before grabbing his uniform tie and pulling his neck to be complete eye-level with you.
You were getting tired of him always looking down at you.
“Where the fuck do you get off?” You tightened your grip for emphasis, making intense eye-contact with him, as you spoke, commanding. Tendou's mischievous grin never wavered, even as you held his tie with a fierce grip. His amusement seemed to only grow with each passing second. The tension in his tie went slack as he leaned down even further, to get even closer to your face. You were much to heated to feel his breath on your face. Or to even notice he seemed to enjoy feeling your breath on his.
"Careful, Kogara-chan," he purred, undeterred by your anger. "You're getting even feistier than last time. I like it."
Your frustration surged as his nonchalant attitude grated on your nerves. You had entered this janitor's closet with the intent of setting things straight, but Tendou's infuriating demeanor was making it increasingly challenging to maintain control. You shook him off, taking a few much-needed steps back, watching him stand back up at full height, looking at you with great amusement. You grit your teeth.
"I don’t know what the hell your problem is, or why you seem to enjoy my anger and misery,” you seethed, your voice trembling with pent-up anger. "But my life, my reputation—it's not something you can just toy with for your own amusement."
“You never gave me a response.”
Suddenly, all the anger you felt disappeared. Or it had morphed into something else, but it was an emotion you couldn’t describe. You immediately knew what he was referring to, as it had played around in your head for the last 12 hours, but to be confronted on it?
You started to feel a lump form in your throat.
“Something that ridiculous can’t be dignified with a response.” You spit, though it took some courage to say. And you could tell that Tendou noticed, as he started to laugh obnoxiously. You felt as though you were getting war flashbacks.
Tendou's laughter echoed in the cramped janitor's closet, filling the space with his amusement. It was like nails on a chalkboard to your ears, intensifying the anger and frustration you had been struggling to contain.
"Ridiculous, huh?" Tendou's voice was laced with a mocking tone as he leaned against one of the shelves, his tall frame taking up space in the small room. "Come on, Kogara-chan, it's not that crazy. Just a simple request."
You couldn't believe the audacity of this guy. He had disrupted your morning, your peace of mind, and now he was here, brushing off your discomfort and making light of the situation. It was infuriating.
"Simple request?" you shot back, your voice sharp and tinged with sarcasm. "Is that what you call it? Ambushing me on the street and class? That's not a request, that's harassment." Tendou only shrugged, letting the words fall off his back like water over rocks.
"Okay, maybe I could've handled it better," he conceded, though it was clear he wasn't fully admitting fault. "But you never gave me a real answer. I want to know what you think." Tendou had said the last part almost genuinely, and you refused to acknowledge the slight warming of your cheeks.
You crossed your arms, unwilling to give him the satisfaction of seeing you flustered. "I think you're a nuisance.” Tendou chortled, regarding you with an intensity that sent a shiver down your spine. "A nuisance, huh?" His eyes seemed to bore into your soul. "I've been called worse."
You clenched your jaw, feeling a mixture of anger, confusion, and a nagging curiosity that you couldn't quite shake. Tendou was unlike anyone you had ever encountered, and that both intrigued and infuriated you. You didn’t know what was wrong with you, why you let him bother you so much, and more importantly:
Why he went out of his way to torment you.
This boy who you’ve only known since yesterday, was able to drive you so crazy you couldn’t safeguard the most important thing to you.
And with that thought, you hardened almost instantly.
“I just wanted to give you an out. Living for other people is bound to get depressing at some point.” He lightly sings his words, but that doesn’t remove the intensity of his words, but with your mind already made up, it meant nothing to you.
Who was he to tell you how to live your life?
You scoffed at his words, dismissing them with a wave of your hand. "Save your life lessons for someone who cares."
Before Tendou could respond, you flung open the janitor's closet door and stormed out, leaving him standing there, his enigmatic smile brightening a little bit more as he watched you walk away. The encounter had left you feeling even more frustrated than before, but one thing was clear—you were determined to keep Tendou Satori as far away from your life as possible.
As you rejoined the world outside the closet, the whispers and curious glances from your classmates lingered, but you couldn't bring yourself to care. The battle between your carefully constructed facade and the chaos that was Tendou Satori was far from over, and you had no intention of surrendering anytime soon.

Aaaaand next off the checklist is Manager Magolor, it seems! I feel the need to clarify this is a while post-RtDL and most likely post-Star Allies too (and probably post-much-needed-therapy) given the temporally anomalous nature of Merry Magoland.
I also feel the need to clarify something weird I said in the initial theory post, even though it most likely goes without saying given some of the design decisions I made here and the sheer power of saying “you know what I mean”, but I think I finally have my thoughts coherently together about The Discourse. Going under the cut given that it is about The Discourse, and also about my personal experience with gender, transition, and internalized misogyny.
First off, if you don’t know what I mean by The Discourse, or why the heck I’m drawing Magolor as a Doomer and not a catboy, in the latter case see my previous posts, and in the former case, there was a line added in Return to Dream Land Deluxe for 100%ing the game where Magolor says he was lying about being from Halcandra. Now I’m not particularly entrenched in the Kirby fandom and generally avoid discourse, but even I’ve seen a lot of people say they think this lore addition was bad and stupid. I totally understand wanting to ignore it, given that the fanbase at large is full of Magolor likers that have elaborate headcanons about Magolor as a Halcandran, and various worldbuilding about Halcandra and the Ancients as informed by the concept. Personally, I had no previous stake in this given that the lore addition was actually the catalyst that got me to really care about Magolor in the first place, and obviously I think it’s interesting to extrapolate from.
Now, the ostensible gut reaction to finding out that Magolor has just been dressing up as an Ancient this whole time is to get really nervous about cultural appropriation. I personally think it’s likely to be more nuanced than a cut-and-dry case of an oppressor stealing from the culture of the oppressed, but given how little we actually know about the Ancients’ place in the Kirby universe both at their height and in the present day, and the fact that I myself am a white American, I’ll just cite Metal General’s RtDLdx pause screen lore, whatever the heck Grand Doomer has going on, and the short story Passing by Nella Larsen (Ok hi! Anxiety-ridden Kit from a week and a half later coming in to clarify that I’m not trying to equate funny little video game aliens to the severity of real life race struggles. As with everything please give me the benefit of the doubt in believing that I have good intentions and understand that there’s nuance but am just not the greatest at talking or thinking and I’m fighting for my life in here[my brain] ok thx bye) that I read in high school as sources for my personal thoughts, and leave the discussion on that subject there. (Oh, I also do like to think about the fact that he said he’s been studying the remnants of the Ancient civilization in Halcandra, for years, alone. Not much of anything with a concrete point to say about that though)
When I last talked about this in my theory post I said I saw it “more like uhhhh trans coding, kinda” and of course drawing this design forced me to confront the question of: now what the heck did I mean I mean by that, exactly?? Well, I thought about it more, and I realized that the much simpler thing to compare it to would be any teen coming-of-age movie where the protagonist dresses up as someone they aren’t because they don’t like who they are until they learn to accept and express themself for who they really are, though this message’s impact is often obfuscated somewhat in practice by Hollywood’s double gut-punch of beauty standards and misogyny. But as for what I was more closely reminded of when I called it trans coding, it was, as it often is, my own complicated journey with gender.
Speaking of, I realize I haven’t been very talkative on tumblr in several years, preferring to talk with close friends on discord rather than with the wider internet and you all know me as afab nb, so I suppose this is the time to come out as… cis, actually. Or rather, uh, transgender/cisgender/genderqueer/nonbinary/female. (Perhaps you can tell why I generally talk about this with people who already know me.) You know how it starts. I never really felt like I fit in with girls growing up, I held disdain for people who were “too girly”, I generally only made friends with nerdy guys, avoided wearing makeup, didn’t care overly much about how I dressed.
Then, five years ago, I discovered that being referred to as “they” made me really happy. I never experienced body dysphoria, but I liked to be able to have a flat chest sometimes. These are things that are still true about me. But feeling decoupled from the concept of womanhood, and, of course, simply growing as a person over time, allowed me to reassess my feelings and internal biases on it. I discovered I have very particular aesthetic preferences, some of which are traditionally very feminine. I started getting into fashion and sewing and started to be happy rather than ambivalent about the way I present myself. (I still don’t wear makeup barely at all.) I realized that what gender you are doesn’t have to mean anything about your particular gender presentation, and that your particular gender presentation doesn’t have to mean anything about what gender you are. I’m still addressing my own internalized misogyny every day, though I like to think I’ve gotten better about it. I’ve learned more about being queer and I’ve learned more about myself.
Over the years I’ve been slowly swinging back around to being comfortable identifying as a woman, and I’m not 100% there yet (I still have a bit of a dysphoric gut reaction to other people referring to me as female, I’ll likely always prefer they/them on the internet at least, and man oh man don’t even get me started on the religion thing. It’s even more complicated somehow and I have trouble talking about it even with close friends and family. I often feel caught between sides on a lot of things just because there’s just very few people who understand wholly where I’m coming from. For one thing, do you know how many weird reactions I’ve gotten to telling people I’m aroace and also getting married in two months? From all kinds of folks), but yeah. That’s how it is. Definitely genderqueer regardless what happens.
So uh, what the heck does any of this have to do with Maggie? I just have a relatively similar thought process regarding him. Uh, metaphorically, I mean; not necessarily with regards to gender. His gijinka designs have definitely turned out really genderqueer but as I’ve said before, this is just what happens whenever I get my little baby hands on new favorite male characters, especially given my penchant for selectively feminine aesthetics and the fact that I’ve never really learned how to draw cis men all that well. He’s also just really hard to put in pants & I wanna show the legs off, I paid money for those
Now for the million dollar question. Do I think any of my interpretation is how HAL actually intended it? Perhaps, but they seem to often leave deep lore things like this deliberately open-ended. So do I think they’re gonna actually do anything with it and make Magolor stop dressing up like an Ancient? Probably not, especially given that the lore bit is a reward for 100%ing the game, practically an easter egg at that point. Magolor is probably the one character who they’re most willing to give new outfits to, but I don’t see that extending to his mainline canon appearance. I think Kirby is a bit too much of a mascot-based franchise to comfortably depart from iconic aspects of their characters for that. They still haven’t given poor Taranza his own theme that isn’t a remix of Dedede’s, for crying out loud.
End of thoughts. Usual disclaimer that I am just one person with limited knowledge and judgement. I wanted to write out this clarification because I was worried my previous comments might look weird in isolation and because I know my Magolor headcanons are very intrinsically tied to The Discourse. It honestly kinda sucks a bit cause while it has been nice to be drawing again, I’ve also been relentlessly serotonin-seeking and I’m way too hungry for interaction & engagement on this, especially given how niche its particular appeal is. Ask box is always open but be warned I have no qualms about setting boundaries and won’t answer anything I don’t want to. Thanks for reading! - Love, Catboy “🪺” Discourse

intro post
Copper, 18 years old, it/its pronouns (he/him acceptable; no they/them). made this side blog as a contained space for my own Sleep Token art and ramblings and such first and foremost, as well as others' Sleep Token posts i like.
DNI:
the basics (racist/queerphobic/etc)
unmasking the band members
RPF supporters/creators
proshippers
strictly NSFW blogs (if it's just occasional NSFW content that's chill)
taglist & more info under the cut:
notes:
DO NOT REPOST MY ART. if you wanna use it for non-commercial means, ask for permission & if allowed, credit me when used. if you wanna use it for commercial means, fuck right off.
my native language isn't english. if i fuck it up i fuck it up.
i do not ship the band members themselves or their stage personas and i find it very icky in general (for myself). i know i listed RPF in my dni but i feel the need to elaborate that it applies to their stage presence, too.
adding onto the previous point, whenever i talk about the vessels in terms of lore/adjacent, i am talking about them as characters. always. this blog is not for speculating on their private lives, and if you do so, you will be blocked.
i'd prefer not to discuss any of the sexual lyrics for my own comfort. i know they exist, i just like to forget (/hj). same with Are You Really Okay, also for my own comfort.
even if i might tag my writing as "theories", they aren't necessarily intended as such. if anything, i'm telling a story of my own based on the lyrics. any hostility in comments on my writing will result in a block; same thing with "this wasn't intended in the lyrics" and stuff like that.
adding onto the previous point (x2), a lot of the time i interpret the lyrics in tandem with my personal life experiences. it will absolutely get a little too real here. if the subject matter is too heavy, it will be tagged with #[subject] and #[subject] tw.
let me know if you want/need me to tag anything specific! either in an ask or in my DMs. don't hesitate to reach out about that :]
in addition to everything, i will be posting about my Sleep Token D&D AU, which is as simple as it sounds and also not at all. it's also very removed from my "main canon" or most of the band IRL, so it's really just me (& @mapleborealis !) fucking around. also, unlike the "main canon", they are a polycule and all kiss with tongue /hj
blog tags (WIP):
organization:
#bygone art - my own art
#bygone talks - my ramblings & the more disconnected bits of writing/theorizing
#bygone writes - the more coherent writing/theorizing
#bygone silly - my memes
#bygone shows - any post of mine related to a personal Sleep Token ritual experience (pics, rambling, etc)
#bygone beloved - a post i particularly like and want to archive, mine or otherwise
#bygone off topic - things vaguely related to sleep token or not related at all
#others' [___] - a post of any variety listed above, just made by someone else
d&d au:
#sleep token dnd and #dnd au - general au tags
#dnd au vessel/ii/iii/iv/etc. - character-specific d&d au posts
little clarifying moments:
#espera - tag for vesselettes (hopefully no maskless posts; won't call them vesselettes either)
#sleep token him - separate tag for whatever Vessel and Sleep were pre-Sundowning. more on that later.

gonna wear my mike wheeler apologist glasses for this one because i refuse to believe that mike didn't realise will was crying and i definitely refuse to believe he saw his best friend sobbing and decided to ignore it.
Tumblr media
this scene was such an emotional rollercoaster—both for will and for the audience. but how on earth was mike feeling? i know there has been a ton of discussion around it but i wanted to add my two cents anyway.
in this scene, mike was more vulnerable with will than he has been with anyone in months—presumably more than a year. he admitted that he feels like some random nerd and that superman showed up on his doorstep. up until this point, will pretty much assumed that mike was so worried because he didn't know if his and el's relationship would survive the fight. but this is the moment where mike finally reveals his real insecurity—he feels like he's not enough. he feels like he got lucky that a superhero chose to be with him, but now his luck is finally running out, and he'll not be cool by association anymore—he'll just be mike again, and that, he feels, is not enough.
(sidebar: i think there's a point to be made here about codependency and defining his self worth by el's presence by his side and how it's interesting that will needs him because he's important to will but he needs el because he isn't sure of himself without her. and how this shows that their relationship isn't healthy. or something. but that's a different post altogether lol, and you guys have talked about it much more coherently)
basically, to put it mildly, he's in a lot of emotional distress in that scene. i think we gloss over it a tiny bit because will is going through such a devastating moment in his character arc, but yeah.
as if all these thoughts aren't overwhelming enough on their own though, something else happens—will gifts mike a painting. you don't need me to elaborate on how much that must mean to him. will, who used to give mike all his art, so much so that he had an entire book of it in season 1. but then they grew apart, and now they're trying to mend their friendship—and will gives him this? this is the first painting he's received from him in years!
and then he finds out el commissioned it. i don't think he sees this as a bad thing, but it's a bit weird to him because sharing art is a will-and-mike thing. but then will starts talking, telling him el thinks he's the heart. the heart. that not only is he enough—he's the core. he's central to her being okay. will is telling him exactly what he needs to hear in that moment—he's assuring mike that's he is needed while also ensuring that he keeps believing that he and el still have a future together. no wonder he looks so goddamn mesmerised.
and this is the reason why he didn't reach out to will. he heard him crying, but he was so choked up with emotion and a mixture of relief and gratitude and oh my god will art after so many months and you're the heart, that he didn't know what to say. he was feeling fragile. and because he didn't feel like he had anything left in him at that moment to comfort will, he just let him cry, leaving us to wonder if his head is full of air or rocks.
i think he feels at least little bit of guilt over it, by the way. we know he wants to be there for his friend and he wasn't in this moment, and we know that he's not easy on himself, so it doesn't feel like a stretch to believe that he would feel guilty. which is why he physically reaches out to comfort will in the cabin scene. i mean, strictly speaking, he didn't need to, just saying "we will" would have been enough. but this is the first time will is opening up to him in a long, long time, and he hadn't been able to be there for him the last time will needed him, and so we have
Tumblr media
anyway, ik this was longer and ramblier than it needed to be but that's my take on all of it. i hope next season we get to see him come to terms with himself. and we know this but he's not a bad kid, like at all. just in pain.

9 fandom peeps to get to know better:
thanks @dragonagelesbian for tagging me! i am so eept rn so i have,,,, no idea how coherent this’ll be lol
3 ships you like: gigolas (gimli and legolas; i refuse to use any ship name other than the most ridiculous one lmao) (they invented love methinks); nerdanel x fëanor (their love and epic divorce compel me… rotating them in my brain like The Cube); and bagginshield (idiots 🫶). i like (love, even) many ships akfkskf but right now im in my tolkien era (again.) so uhhh yeah. all tolkien ships here. shoutout to dinkus tho.
first ship ever: literally aragorn and arwen. i was obsessed with them and wanted them to be my parents. in after-school daycare i would sit in front of a whiteboard and draw a big ole castle and draw out my elaborate fantasy role play i had w a friend in which i WAS their child. this brainrot has been with me for as long as i can remember i inherited it i will live forever with it. incurable disease (liking tolkien) haver.
last song you heard: squints. well earlier i was SINGING many songs from the broadway beauty and the beast musical but that was acapella so that doesn’t count. it’s uhh. (opens spotify). well i’m halfway through doom days by bastille (doom days by bastille my beloved). so that. (unless you do count what i was singing for some reason. in which case. uhhhh. if i can’t love her. THEE beauty and the beast song of all time. helloooooo is this thing on do you hear me? do you understand? it’s the musical song of all time to me actually. it’s so good. listen to it. evermore wants what she has.)
favorite childhood book: uhhh so i only remember really early childhood and later childhood. i know i had other favorites between like 5-8 or so. but you’re getting what i can remember ajdjwjd. as a YOUNG kid i loved “goodnight moon”. the kids book of all time. and in later childhood, outside of my obsession with the warrior cats franchise (a given), i really loved the inheritance cycle books. i need to reread them so bad SO BAD. also i need to get the illustrated edition of eragon. shakes.
currently reading: “the fellowship of the ring”. don’t look atme. don’t— look. look. when i said it’s my tolkien girlie era again. well. yeah. anyway. i am. 97-98% thru it so probably it will change to two towers. also TECHNICALLY. i am still. technically. reading “carmilla” (she’s somewhere in my room but i don’t know where oops). and also. technically. “the silmarillion” (LOOK.), because i need to actually read it all the way thru for once and not just skip to the bits about my favoritest worst guys alive who are hated by god and also do war crimes but they’re funny. so it’s. look. it. it’s okay. hey look at me. the murder is not a big deal. it’s all so catholic here. i’m more worried about that.
currently watching: stares into the distance. it’s been so long since i’ve watched anything. at least TV/movie-wise. i watch a simmer’s streams and youtube vids is that anything? no…. naur…. i think the last. thing i watched was. uh. an episode of ATLA.
currently consuming: BALDURS GATE THREE. i am obsessed w my tav rn. i restarted my playthru bc i wanted to good recruit minthara bc i feel like she’d have a crunchy dynamic w my tav, lleuad. somehow less crunchy than i expected but we just got her so who’s to say. anyway. shakking,,,, look at Them. (talking to one of the besties.)
Tumblr media
currently craving: japanese curry……… mmmm. with. chicken katsu. yeag
tagging: open tag bc actual tagging always gives me anxiety lmao. if you want to do this, consider yourself tagged!

Misfits and Sandbox
Some words to show what i mean with "sandbox" in Misfits
And I mean something like a mix of The Sims and Lego.
That's really my vision when someone says sandbox. Oh and GTA IV. Liberty City and stuff, you know. GTA V was a bit too overwhelming for me. But, really, when im thinking about modern sandbox (something that does not involve "medieval" aesthetic and low tech) my mind goes back to my time playing with Legos and the hours that I spent with different iterations of The Sims and all the gratuitous crime i commited as I child/teen robbing vehicles and just doing whatever.
I also like the procedurally generated vibe, as in the osr/nsr scene with the tables as input driven engines, or with roguelikes in digital games, specially when they are well executed with a twist (like hades and the fragmented narrative).
So, this is my way of integrating that stuff. The procedural generated stuff is where i idealize the mechanics, generating narrative with die and choices from tables. Also, i think my goal for subsystems is one of generating stuff to make actions more significant than the usual "just RP it" or "just write a short entry" (for solo ttrpg). Like the famous clocks from Blades and a myriad of other cool games. Soon i hope to expand that to other stuff that I'm still daydreaming about (dating system! car chases! smooching people!). For now the game is Acting and Plans. In terms of mechanics frontiers for the Misfits. Acting is normal rolls that get solved in itself and Plans are more like long term or complex stuff with clocks and checks to fill ticks for resolution.
That's it.
The rest is Lego, a big toybox with stuff for you to play with, and the Sims, some Faces for you to meet, fall in love, fuck, kill, befriend, move together, rob, etc.
That feeling is what I'm wanting more in analogic games, specially my designs. There's a lot of stuff for you to see and interact and daydream and even play about. And there's also a set of things that make this little world consistent.
I want to provide interesting toys and interesting faces and expand on the procedures to make those trips to this little world more interesting. Fun takes many forms. Maybe it can be more spicy or erotic. Maybe it will be powerfantasy, cape shit. Maybe something more heavy, political or tinged with horror. I think that's my goal, cover all those possible vibes of stories that comics managed to fit into people capable of defying reality using cool costumes and spilling cringe dialogue.
Right now Im planning on divide things in "Tapes". Each tape is like a season and have a name that's also kind of a more structured group of faces and happenings that will do things that can show up in future seasons. Some form of persistent world. I know that's not very popular nowadays with most people in indie ttrpg spaces but i admit im a sucker for weird plots encompassing a game universe in a greater narrative. I think it's nice to play in a bigger world. Have some kind of canon, or at least possible canons. I also think that marvel multiverse shit made people feel sick of it but im not elaborating.
Im not making a canon that you have to know to play the game or anything, but the Tapes will have this little bits of stuff that i pretend to mention in the next and, maybe, creating some kind of persistency with Faces and Places that you can use in your playsessions or just scrap it off or pick it a part.
So, I'm not capable yet of assembling things into a coherent layout, but i want to get some pieces of Misfit outta in the world. Here are some building blocks (hah) of what your Misfit will interact in the world:
Faces are people to meet. Places are places to go. Happenings are like encounters, things that happen in the world, favours that Faces ask, or just slices of life
Later I pretend to divide those tables in Regions, each one with a vibe more well defined and some neighboorhoods.
FACES: 1 - Key, bald drug smuggler with a mustang, a mumble speech and the ghost of his dead brother to raise. 2 - Van Helith, tireless basketball player, dreams with the big lights, cocky but kinda awkward with people. 3 - Eva, extremely powerful freak. she's slowly dying because of her powers but also discreetly searching for a cure. successful businesswoman, practically lives in her private jet. 4 - Hobbs, DJ who's also a kaoist who uses sonore dissonance to fuel their magic. 5 - Montaineblanc, revived semi cadaveric ex-royalty. perverse and rotten human being, enjoys his newfound immortality. 6 - Ceci Boo, overworked freelancer. pretty crafty philosopher. talented martial fighter. fae bloodline, she does not know. a little misanthropic. 7 - Noah, psyonic, talented musician. Usually depressed. uses his powers to play multiple instruments at once. 8 - Haysha, smoker, tormented psyonic e-celebrity, likes to drive fancy cars. 9 - Michael Zaraj, a bloody, also mad scientist and toxin experimentalist. made mutating intelligent spiders to have minions capable of bring humans for him to experiment on. 10 - Any Corvo, popstar and "crimefighter". a hot fash who streams music and murders petty thiefs in revealing pink and black costume for her far right audience. lethal swords. seems like a build up persona. 11 - Mindy, traveled a lot as kid, never knew what is home. Can always be seem with her red bike full of patches. Blunt and suspicious. 12 - Joan, artist, has a little online following by her creepy collage projects. The themes of her pieces are a contrast to her ponytails and flowery jumpsuits 13 - Benji Skrinar, talented dev, prolly a cybersyko but he hides it well. Does some online scams for an extra buck. 14 - Max London, Ex highschool quarterback, now a model. Hates to travel. Knows everybody important in their hometown and is kinda of a local hero. 15 - Talissa Mür, a know face in circles of luxury events, restaurants and parties. Seems like some kind of heiress, but actually does a dirty job in an Exclusion Zone as a geneticist. Vos, an ex huntress that left behind the fucked up reality of The Houses. Now they are the guard commander of a small castle 16 - Ethel, a librarian and weaver. Trans girl stranded from her big family, arrived in the region to start living with her caring but confuse and troubled dad. 17 - Natalie, prodigy student and Supe. Her family was one of the rare exceptions that didn't want their daughter becoming part of a Corpo, which she did mainly as an act of pure rebellion, but also to exercise some control to her life for the first time. 18 - Hellen, knows as her stage name of Ziggy, is a freak with teleportation powers, dancer and singer. Performances like hers, mixing entertainment and powers, are getting really popular. She is discreet with her identity, but soon will attract wrong attention 19 - Mulaney, idealistic boy born into nobless, discharged from C.A.G.E. after caught sabotaging operations. His family saved his ass and now he is backpacking around the countryside thinking in ways of "dismantling the system" (but mostly just vibing. he is rich, after all) 20 - Cora, Psyonic, top of their class in The Citadel, the prestigious college for Overly Capable Humans. After few drinks will spit out that they have beem abduced twice. If drinks waaay to much will admit that cheats in every test with a complex methodology (it's a heavy burden for them)
PLACES: 1 - Small coffee shop named Plantoffe. Lots of weird plants. runned by an middle age couple. 2 - Master Tara's Boxing Club. A franchise of generic martial arts with underpaid instructors 3 - Bills Square, billboards everywhere, neon and luxury stores mix with tall comercial buildings, a mix of tech and finances. Security cameras and cops are omnipresent in this vicitnies. 4 - Makeout Creek, a little creek near the high school, famous spot for teens to hang out and... well, mostly smoke weed but some actually still makeout 5 - Gemini Hills, just out of the city. a spot with parks, places to eat and with a great view of the skyline. 6 - A moto bike shop decorated with random esoteric stuff and violet neon lights called Azphalt 7 - An abandoned construction site. upon further looking there's trash, a mattress and signals of a rushed escape. 8 - An old mass grave turned to a boring park with a couple of benches and a monument in honour of a dead local stray dog named Chico. 9 - A plaza in the Campus. A brutalist fountain sits at the center of it, with different handrails, elevations and concret benches being used by skaters to perform different tricks. Cliques of college students gossip and drinks and eat observed by the scorching sun. 10 - Caricá Beach, paradisiac little spot, hide between deep vegetation and a hill that ends in a rocky cliff used for risky jumps into the water
HAPPENINGS: 1 - Missing posters of a boy. His brother handling pamphlets, asking for help. The cops are ignoring the case after coming back from the woods with scared eyes. 2 - A neighbor is moving out and found some weird stuff in a basement that they had never noticed. At least they will tell you that. 3 - Two girls asking for help, last night they were hired to dance in a party in a secluded club. Turns out thar it was the last rite of a suicide cult and today they are locking themselves in a gold revested bunker to transmit their conscious to a new dimension. Oh, the leader really seemed to have some weird powers. 4 - The bus from the local basketball team broke. They could use some help to reach the game. Also, their reserve squad is lacking some players... 5 - Traveling band of street artists is being held and investigated by two strange Border Patrol cops. 6 - Sunglasses, tans, boys without shirts and groups of people in beach clothing in the trail that leads to the Costa Esmeralda beach. 7 - A C.A.G.E unit running roadblocks, aiming to pass an image of security to the a region with recent unrests 8 - A thematic party at the sorority-run bar Pinkgarden. Good opportunity for getting laid, do some networking or play the hero stopping a mortal brawl between highly intoxicated supe rivals

Okay just watched Gomens s2 and I'm fully intending to watch it again but with a notebook tomorrow. Until then, thoughts on That Conversation. Spoilers under the cut!!
Okay first, elaboration on the notebook thing, there were several bits that made go "hmm that seems odd to leave there" or that I snagged on for various reasons and I will be collecting those and I may be red stringing them. We shall see.
And now, the Conversation. The breakup, the divorce, them not understanding each other, whatever you'd like to call it. My instinctual reaction to Aziraphale's backtracking to "Heaven is Good and just and right" despite having spent two seasons revealing that they're none of those was "heaven always did use more cult tactics." And I still think that's a solid part of it. We've seen various points where Aziraphale has been desperately appealing to the bureaucracy in Heaven because he knows it isn't right, but he just gets brushed off over and over again. When the second highest power just appears and says "you were right, actually, you've been right all along," that kind of validation is going to mean a LOT to him. He's presented validation, a supposed opportunity to fix it, and a supposed opportunity to be with Crowley on a silver platter. It seems insane not to take it.
Except, the way he talks about Heaven. Those don't sound like his words, not anymore. Maybe way earlier, but now? All the things he's seen? And the phrase "second-in-command," I cannot imagine him wanting Crowley with him as anything less than an equal. This is one of those red string things I'll probably mention later, but there's something else going on here. Apparently there's a "Metatron miracled him via coffee" theory, but that feels wrong to me too. I need a more complete picture of all the bits that stuck out to me to keep theorizing so i should move on but this really is snagging me.
Moving on before I get tangled up in that, "I forgive you" absolutely fucking broke me. That is the worst thing Aziraphale could have said. Going on about how Heaven is Good, how he can make Crowley an angel again (which is definitely coming across to Crowley as "I can fix you, I can make you Better, you aren't good enough for me like this") and then when Crowley is trying so desperately to make Aziraphale see how much he cares, that he loves him, Aziraphale responds as though this is something that must be forgiven.
To be told by the person you love that you need to be changed in order to even be around them, to be told that you are not good enough because of something you can't control but is a fundamental part of you, and then when you say you don't want to be different you just want them, they treat that as something horrible, something that they have to forgive? Maybe it's just me being queer but that hurt. And I think Crowley took it the same way I would have.
I still don't think that this is all Aziraphale. It doesn't sound like him. We know that angels can fuck with both the memories and the very existence of anyone. Maybe Metatron fucked with Aziraphale's recollections? I'm fully expecting him to have his memories yanked in s3, so this could be the beginning of that.
I do not have the energy to make sure this follows a coherent train of thought so if it doesn't, well. It doesn't. Hopefully I got my point across

oh no, I wouldn't dispute that position of Emerald not being genuine in her wanting things from Cinder at all and totally agree with you that Emerald's love *isn't* genuine, it's something that is incredibly based in wanting to be fulfilled by someone who she can't see properly and so can never really accept. I'm usually a bit more interested in the psychological aspect of characters which is a difference we have in interpretation, but I was always skeptical of 'Cinder has no reason to not (1/2)
(2/2) 'reciprocate,' because Emerald is looking for something that just isn't there and putting up this enormous pedestal. Maybe connected to how Ruby Rose was kinda put on a pedestal by her teammates narratively and she's now dealing with the fallout of that because she didn't feel seen? Different situation but similar-ish. I probably do have it colored a bit but I do try to keep that lens more in 'this makes things interesting' than 'things have to be this way.' Appreciate your thoughts!
Right, that really wasn't clear to me begin with so I appreciate the clarification, because it seemed like you'd taken the opposite meaning of what I'd originally been saying, and that was pretty distressing to my communicative abilities.
I find the notion that Cinder could or should possibly reciprocate absurd and I always have.
I'm not really sure what you mean by 'this makes things more interesting' than 'things have to be this way'; the only point on which I can argue with anything you've laid out here is on the basis of the text, not my mere personal feelings. I'm not saying things have to be this way. I'm saying that there is only a coherency in the narrative itself if it is a read a particular way, and those terms can change according to what the story itself evolves as.
If I could simply tell you what I feel to be more personally interesting, it would be pointless.
I also think the difference here in our narrative analysis is pretty pronounced, because I find the approach of reading Emerald's story through something flatly psychologically realistic to ignore the surrounding narrative incentive and consequences (and the magnitude of that psychological resonance; I don't think this stuff can't be considered on psychological terms, it's just not flat). Like, you can't read Emerald's freedom independent of the magical psychological transformation and the purpose of villainy in the story to my eyes.
I understand based on past discussions that our narrative analysis approach seems to be rooted in different narrative values, and to be totally straightforward, I take issue with some of your approach (I know especially based on historic discourse of Ironwood and the Huntsman academies, say). I'm not going to moderate my opinion, but hopefully it's clear my issue isn't personal.
also sorry to extend this, will shut up about it now hahahaha
Yeah, I originally said I didn't want to cover this topic again because it's my least favourite and a point of contention in the Cinder fandom, but if the topic requires elaborating so be it. I understand it's a messy topic, which is why I don't like it.

🔪Murdock Headcanons🔪
Tumblr media
When I saw ISWM part 2, this dude got a death grip on my mind and refused to let go. Ever since, he's been living in my head rent-free, so I've had time to come up with some stuff. Enjoy this list of poorly thought-out headcanons/story ideas/random bullshit that I've compiled for everyone's favourite serial killer.
His background was probably in biology (because of the pin) or philosophy or something like that.
He's definitely worked as a hitman before because why the hell not. Also, to add onto this, Dark probably has to work to make sure half the fucking household doesn't end up dead or in jail on a weekly basis, so Murdock helps with these efforts by "taking care" of witnesses. It feeds his bloodlust and keeps the manor safe at the same time, win-win!
If you need information about weapons techniques, poisons, and the like, he's your guy. He's mastered the use of many weapons, from knives to sniper rifles to flamethrowers. If you hc him as having a science background, he's probably really good with chemicals as well. He's also great at hand-to-hand combat.
To add onto the previous thing, I think he would opt for less messy methods. Knives are his favourite.
This man is a huge Edgar Allan Poe fan and you can't convince me otherwise.
There's a murder of crows that follows him around everywhere he goes. He doesn't know why, but it makes him look cool and mysterious, so he hasn't bothered to get rid of them. He's made friends with all of them and gives them food and shiny things he finds.
Dark is emo, Murdock is goth. No, I won't elaborate.
He either likes smooth jazz or the most obnoxiously loud death metal music you've ever heard. There's no in-between.
Dr. Iplier wanted him to start using his knife skills for more "productive" activities, so he (begrudgingly) started cooking in his spare time. He's pretty damn good at it (I don't suggest eating anything he offers you, though...)
He has a deep interest in poisonous plants and has his own little section in the manor's garden that houses his collection (totally not projecting here.)
I think him and Doomiplier/Soldier Mark/Shootiplier/Doomsday Mark/whatever tf his name is (I saw someone calling him Axel and I think it's perfect for him) wouldn't like each other very much. My reasoning for this is that they're both violent egos, but for completely different reasons. Axel isn't really malicious, but he's reckless and thrill-seeking. Murdock probably thinks Axel is a bumbling idiot with no grace or elegance in his methods, while Axel probably thinks Murdock is an arrogant, sadistic, stuck-up bastard.
This may be an unpopular opinion, but he and Drowned Man Mark are definitely not the same person. I can easily see them getting along, though.
That's about all I have. I'm not the best at explaining my ideas so hopefully this was coherent enough to read 🤞

Do you agree with Kriston on the belief that you do not cause your reality as a singular consciousness and her belief on it being delusional? I agree with some of the things she mentioned such as the gaslighting and bypassing but some of her content doesn’t resonate. When listening, it felt like she would disagree with some aspect of manifestation but then her rebuttal sounds quite similar to what she is disagreeing with…liked her episode though.
such a good question bestie. yes, kind of ? LOL like. because people who talk like that literally call their human self god and don't actually realize their human self is not god and never was. so yeah, what she said made sense from that perspective. i just dont think everything is as clear cut as we wanted to believe it was when we first learned about everything. (like no its not as simple as thoughts create, etc etc) and i think its the secret a lot of coaches wont tell you. (not all, but the ones who care more about money or popularity than they care about actually helping people). people rly be thinking their human self is controlling life and thats just so far from what any teaching ever said. (this is why i have the bible verses i have in my bio, bc the difference is so overlooked) so on a level yes, but i also cant elaborate more at this moment. lol
tbh where i'm at on my journey rn and what i have experienced this past year has instilled this deeper understanding within me that i just havent been able to fully put into coherant words yet. guess thats why i dont rly post on anything specific these days. cuz im just out here experiencing, rather than just thinking.
i also agree with you on that, how she disagrees but also sounds like she agrees at the same time. its because kriston isnt actually against the law and hasnt stopped believing in manifestation. its moreso because she disagrees with how its being taught these days and the misguidance that is popular in the community on the basis of money and clout. so yeah, i think thats why she can sound contradictory; if you dont realize shes not actually against the law as a spiritual practice it may sound that way.
also. love how youre able to be open to other perspectives but also know when something doesnt work for you. we love a multi-dimensional person with an open mind. at least i do. i live for it. <3

ummm okay. gay kevin. idk shit abt persona so ur fave and least fave (maybe a side from creep weirdo adults actually I know Enough abt persona. least favorite Normalish character) feel free to elaborate on any of these and umm ummm cheryl also mwah mwah <33
HI. I'm putting this under a cut bc um. <- guy who will ramble rly rly long. Or smth
Every single day I shake my head thinking about the potential Kevin could have if yk. RAC didn't go cop mode and his god. His shit w Percival and also every other relationship it's rly :////. I don't know how unpopular my opinions r bc outside of my like 5 Riverdale mutuals I do NOT touch the main tags. I do NOT need the horrible barchie and varchie takes so. But it is very frustrating to me how he's treated and I rly think if I rewatched I could get more insane about him and use my epic ok let's give him more character abilities BUT I am holsing back from a rewatch so.
Tumblr media
^ the dislike is well. For the current season shit and the stuff he did 2 Toni and fangs.... Bc like :/
Getting the Riverdale ones done before um I hit u w the persona essay. But Cheryl my literal best friend forever???
Tumblr media
^ she needs to be on screen like. All the time forever and ever. If Cheryl is not on screen I think we all should die. She's literally the best part ever and my beloved friend Nico is so right about her and will hit me w the hi. Did u see Cheryl this episode and I will clap and cheer. She's literally the best and so funny and epic and has literally been since s1ep1. Any crimes that are adjacent to murder or well. Anything else. It's forgiven bc she's epic and funny and swag so. Like I'm not umm?? Super picky on any Cheryl ship BUT I think Cheryl and Veronica could be so fucking funny. Like the dynamic could go so hard etc. I love her a lot like in my top 5 rvd characters
Umm persona time and also like I'm gonna spoil a BIG twist about 4 for you so like. Heads up for that. It's not worth playing tho (I say so affectionately but it's also a hard twist to avoid bc everyone knows it and it's like a 10+ year old game)
My least fave (affectionate. Kind of. I also want him dead) character is adachi from 4. I want him dead like for REALSIES but also he's done nothing wrong but he's ALSO literally killed 3 people.
Tumblr media
^ every fan sucks about him and I want literally every adachi fan minus my friend to die bc they suck but like he's ultimately just a silly little guy (again. Excusing the murders and also the well. General cringefail of him). Unfortunately I understand him and I think that like he has issues (in a good and bad way.) But he's also like rly???? Idk man he's kinda got issues and problems but he's also rly sillay and goofy and I think he's allowed to kill because he's sillay. He also sucks so bad and I need to kill him. Like a lot of the fans suck so so so bad and I think that he's a very interesting character if you actually understand him. I think he's a little loser ultimately and ummm I don't rly have coherent thoughts but I am microwaving him
Ok as for faves ummm I have a lot HOWEVER I'm gonna go a bit crazy insane about a little dude from persona 2. So like his name is Michel (or like that's his nickname ig?) And so like here's rapidfire facts about him before I hit u w the bingo. So like his weapon when fighting is a guitar case turned into a machine gun. I'm not joking it's very epic. He's also like?? His introduction in the game is LITERALLY basically a hey quit your job join my emo band. He says carpe diem like "crap a dime". He's a singer and like he comes up w insanely stupid song lyrics. He's also like full of issues and problems on many levels. And he literally has blue hair and pronouns
Tumblr media
^ him btw. I just need u to understand the character a bit before I go insane in the bingo board
Tumblr media
^ he doesn't get enough screen time bc he's not on my screen constantly but like I do not interact w any p2 fans minus my friend Chris and my lovely mutual toni who are both epic and understand it. However I do think some people probably suck about him and he's my bestie so I understand him on a fundamental level. He's rly epic and niceys and minus well a couple issues he does nothing wrong ever and ever. He's my best friend bc like. In persona 2 when u meet demons u can communicate w them and one of his options is to like talk to them and be like HEY you suck your life sucks etc. It's very epic and funny and he will also sing to them sometimes. Also just this gif.

The Scheduling AU - pt 3
Hi I am back and kinda just woke up so this might not be coherent. Anyway this part is about teacher numbers and what classes are available done by year group me thinks.
What classes are first so we can move onto teacher numbers within departments.
We will start with the 1st and 2nd years cause they have 5 set classes and a 6th that is two different smaller subjects on alternating days on a 2 week schedule so it fall nicely in numbers. They also rotate out each semester for ✨variety✨
Their subjects:
English
Math
Science
Social studies/History (this is rotated but semesters)
Art (this is mostly student lead so they can do anything from painting to sculpture)
Now onto the smaller things they get to have a taste of:
Music (again student lead and can be everything from learning an instrument to music production)
Home economics (I think thats what call it in america)
Languages (students are given a choice of 3, French, Spanish or German. They can make a request for something else and if enough students agree then they can get it changed. (One year they decided to learn Swahili))
PE (none of this running track and apparently deadly games of dodgeball. It is more about learning different sports and occasionally having fun little minigames (somebody ask, we had some great ones))
Right I will elaborate more on their schedule once I get around to making a spreadsheet because I don’t think this explanation quite makes sense buts that neither here or there.
Oh I might add at this point that most of the subjects above tend to split at this point for example science splits into Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Math splits into Calculus and Statistics. And you can choice either social studies or history.
Once you have the basics after the first two years you can move onto other things so heres a list of other possible subjects to do after year 2.
Other subjects:
Classics
Media studies
Design (this covers everything form photography to making ads)
Sewing/Fashion
Digital Technology
Accounting/Business studies
Botany (no I didn’t just forget that was the only class we saw in the show thankfully I can make an argument that because Wednesday is just turning 16 in the show she is one of the younger people in her year group and so that makes her a year 3)
Dance/Drama (this is more because for some reason year groups tend to side more to one or the other but it is possible for them to be two seperate classes)
Now it’s also possible to do other classes by correspondence and if theres enough interest then Larissa will try and get a teacher for that specific subject for how ever long there is an interest.
Right this leads onto teacher numbers but just before that because of the open style of choose your own subject, you can be at say year 4 but can get into a class at year 3. It just makes it easier if you didn’t want to do a subject one year but did the next and so people can work to their level. So most student have at least one subject where they are working at a different level of their own. (Yes this is a logistical nightmare, let me have my fantasy and also computers are amazing at figuring out schedules)
Right Teacher numbers. Because of the younger years having set schedule all of those subject have 3 teachers at minimum. One for each class and because the teachers all teach maximum 5 classes a day and all year groups have 3 classes in them. That means there needs to be a fourth teacher for the department and because I think Larissa is going to take as much pressure off as possible, I think she would go for a fifth. So for the “core subjects” (the first list) that makes 5 teachers per department.
For the second list following the same logic but because interest in those tend to be smaller and because of the rotating schedule there only 3 teachers for each of those.
And lastly the third list again because of the small student population and the amount of choice there only 2-3 teachers per department depending on what the subject is. Obviously the number can fluctuate depending on interest and what not.
Now this is where dorm parents come into play. So each department has a head teacher and they are the ones that go to meeting with Larissa and her deputies (chosen from the teachers that want to and who she thinks works best in the role). Head department teacher can not be dorm parents so that rules them out but anyone else that do not hold another role in the school other than teacher can do it.
So a bit of math for the number of teachers. First list - 5*5 = 25. Second list - 4*3 = 12. Third list I’m going to split in half for two or three in the department cause I think that makes the most sense. 2*3 = 6, 3*4 = 12. Altogether is 25+12+6+12 = 55 teachers total. Not to shabby.
Right thats me done for today next up is either the schedule or the support departments (like school counsellers of various things and the health team and whatnot).
