I’m smiling while typing this because I’m so very happy right now. It’s ten minutes to midnight here and I am reflecting on what 2023 has brought me. Out of every little thing that I’ve gained this year I’d say that this community has to be the best thing that has come my way. I’m so very happy that our 8 maniacs and their music found its way into my life because I wouldn't be here without it.
Above all I’m so grateful to each and every wonderful person that I’ve ever interacted with on this site as well as all of the people who like, reblog, comment, request content or even just glance at my work. I never thought that I would be able to achieve the things that I have when I started this blog in the early summer. I never thought that I would get to a point where I can practice my passion and confidently put my work onto the internet for others to read but here I am and it’s all thanks to the support that I've received from all of you so far. So I want thank each and every one of you a million times over for seeing me and being so kind and open and just endlessly spectacular. Especially those of you who reach out and never fail to make me feel loved and seen whenever you can (You know who you are and I love you, MUAH 💋).
There is a particular person that I’ve met on this site that holds a special place in my heart. My best friend, @hyunniesgirl ,has been a ray of sunshine in a dark place since I met her and I couldn’t be more grateful. She helps me with ideas, she reads just about every single thing I write before I even post it and she’s the sweetest person in the entire world and I can’t imagine going into the new year without her by my side, I love her to bits and pieces (I’ve told her this 1 billion times since I’ve met her.💕)
So to sum this all up before I start ugly crying, I want to thank all of you for just being here. Thank you for existing and I hope that you continue to support me through the new year! As always, my DM's are open and my requests are open if you just wanna say hi or anything. I love talking to you all and I hope to interact more in the coming year!
I Love You All! Let’s Rock 2024! Fighting 💝
Happy New Year!

As soon as you told Jake that you thought he'd had enough to drink for one night, he called you a bitch for the fifth time. It was mortifying. Because this time your boyfriend said it in front of his friends instead of just quietly whispering, "I'm gonna need you to stop acting like a bitch."
The area around the pool table went quiet, and it took everything inside you to keep your head held high. His friends weren't the ones who had to deal with the aftermath of angry, drunk Jake. You were. They weren't constantly getting yelled at for hiding his keys when he couldn't walk straight. And they weren't driving around in a car that still smelled horrendous weeks after he threw up a bottle of Jack Daniels next to the center console. You were.
Your lips were shaking as you met his glassy, green eyes. And then Bradley Bradshaw stepped forward and put a hand on Jake's shoulder. "That's not cool, Hangman," he said, his voice deep and angry. He set down the bottle of beer he had been nursing and met your eyes with chocolate brown ones that somehow made you feel a little more grounded. Then he added, "I think you should apologize to your girl."
Just as Jake scoffed, you returned your attention fully to him. You pressed your lips together until you were sure you could speak without making a fool out of yourself. "No. I'm not his girl. It's been a long time since that was something I wanted to be. I can't do this anymore, Jake."
As you dug his car keys out of your pocket, he slurred, "I should have dumped you months ago. You don't even know how to have fun. You're just a stuck up bitch."
You tried your best to ignore him as you handed his keys to Javy and softly asked, "Can you make sure he gets back to his place safely?"
"I will," he promised, nodding at you. Then you glanced around the group of aviators you had become fond of over the past several months since Jake first brought you here. You were going to miss them, especially Bradley and the soft smiles he always gave you. And the way he just stood up for you.
But right now his handsome face looked stony as he shook his head at Jake. You ran your hand along Bradley's arm and tried your best to smile at him as you left the group and started to dig your phone out of your pocket. "Bye," you whispered to nobody in particular. You'd get an Uber and go back to your place and snuggle up in bed, and you'd be fine. You knew you would.
As you headed for the door, you heard Bradley angrily say, "I wish you would have had the balls to dump her months ago. She's too good for you."
That made you smile as you pushed the door open and let the cool night air and the sound of the ocean wipe your senses clean. If you were being honest with yourself, you probably only stayed with Jake for as long as you had because you were afraid he was going to hurt himself or someone else one of these Saturday nights. The sting of embarrassment was worse right now than the pain of breaking things off with him, and that fact let you know you did the right thing.
You shivered as you looked up at the moon and the smattering of stars that were visible this close to the city. And then a massive body slammed into you, which you realized was probably your fault for standing so close to the exit.
"Shit!" grunted a deep voice.
"I'm sorry-" you started as a big arm wrapped around you, steadying you.
"It's you," Bradley said when you looked up at him over your shoulder. "You're still here."
"Yeah... it's just me." You sounded a little breathless. You noticed you felt safer after ten seconds with his arm wrapped around you than you ever had when you were with Jake.
Bradley cleared his throat and slowly released you. "I just wanted to see if you needed a ride home. You know, since you left Jake's keys with Javy."
You turned to face him fully and took one big hand in yours before anyone else could exit the bar and slam into both of you. With wide eyes, he followed you willingly as you walked backwards toward the railing. "I'm fine," you assure him, letting go of his warm hand with an embarrassed shrug. "I'll get an Uber and have someone who didn't just witness my ex boyfriend call me a bitch before I dumped him take me home."
"He should have never said that," Bradley rasped, eyes fixed on your face. "He overdoes it on the weekends, and I'm sure he doesn't actually think you're a... well, you know. You're sweet. Everyone knows that."
You smiled softly up at him. "Thanks," you whispered. You let yourself indulge in committing to memory the way Bradley Bradshaw just said you're sweet. Because it made you feel warm inside. Then you entered your passcode and opened your Uber app, but before you could do anything else, he took your phone out of your hand.
"Let me take you home," he said as you reached for your phone. But he tucked it behind his back. "That way I'll know you get there safely."
You reached your arms around him but he took both of your hands in his as your chest brushed the front of his shirt. "Did you put it in your back pocket?" you asked as you cocked your head to the side, only pretending to be annoyed.
"Maybe," he replied with a grin as he squeezed your hands. "But you won't need it until I drop you at your place anyway."
You studied his face. The orange flicker of light from the lamppost in the parking lot bathed him in softness as he waited for you to respond. The only time you ever saw Bradley get drunk was on his birthday when Natasha drove him home. But he'd been funny, never crass. He'd even carried you from the jukebox over to the piano when he insisted he could do a better rendition of Changes than David Bowie. You smiled at the memory, and then he was smiling back at you.
"You just had that one beer tonight?" you asked softly, already knowing the answer. You supposed he drew your gaze more frequently than you were ready to admit. Especially in the past month or so.
"Yeah," he replied immediately. "That's all I usually have."
"I know."
There was a beat of silence between the two of you. Your words felt like an admission, and you wanted to know how he'd respond. He laced his fingers with yours and said, "I'd never do anything to put you in danger. Been drinking just one beer on Saturday nights in case you were too far gone to get Jake and yourself home safely."
Now you weren't sure what to say. He'd been silently paying attention to you this whole time, too. No wonder you felt safe around him. "Okay," you whispered, and Bradley very hesitantly released your right hand. But you stayed close to his side, your left hand still held tight in his, and he started to head toward his Bronco.
Silently he unlocked the passenger side door and helped you climb in. "Thanks," you muttered, but then he removed his hand from yours, and you suddenly shivered as he closed the door. You thought of your apartment briefly, wondering if Jake's hoodie was hanging in your closet and thinking you'd just throw away the framed photo of the two of you in Venice Beach. It didn't really hurt to think about it, but you didn't feel the need to mourn over it either.
Then you realized Bradley had already turned right out of the parking lot and then made the first left. "You don't need directions?" you asked him as he went straight through the green light.
He laughed softly but kept his eyes on the road. "I remember where you live. I picked the two of you up there once."
You remembered it, too. He had opened the door for you and helped you into the Bronco that night as well. He had been wearing the same shirt he had on now. And he smiled at you the same way.
But you were still surprised he knew which street to turn down and which building was yours. "You can park in one of the visitor spots," you told him as your heart swelled with nervous excitement when he shifted into park.
Bradley paused with his hand on the key in the ignition and turned to look at you. "Will you let me walk you up?" When you nodded without hesitation, he killed the engine and smiled at you. And a few seconds later, your fingers were laced with his again. And you were climbing the stairs up to your apartment door.
"Thanks, Bradley," you murmured, glancing up at him, unsure how to ask when you might possibly see him again after this. You didn't have his phone number, and you had no real reason to keep going back to the Hard Deck, but you wanted to see him again.
And then you felt a little embarrassed by it all. Sure, he remembered where you lived and he had been looking out for you. But you just broke up with Jake earlier tonight, even though things felt like they had been over for a lot longer. And you didn't want to rebound with his coworker of all people, especially since Bradley had you feeling like you wanted him to wrap you in his arms and make you feel safe all the time.
And now you'd been standing in front of your door for long enough that it was about to become awkward unless one of you said something. But you were afraid the words on the tip of your tongue would be enough to shatter the moment if you said them.
Your eyes caught on the scars on Bradley's neck as he swallowed hard. "Anytime you need a ride or... anything, I'll be around," he said with one of those soft smiles. But when he went to remove his hand from yours, you wouldn't let him. And then that smile slipped as he took a step closer to you.
You decided to say the words and shatter the moment, because you had nothing to lose. "Do you want to come in for a little while?" you asked, and Bradley was nodding immediately.
You didn't expect him to keep his hand in yours as you closed and locked the door and showed him around the small space. You'd spent time with Jake in all of these rooms, but as you listened to the deep rumble of Bradley's voice and his soft laughter, you knew you'd sooner recall these memories once he was gone. But you didn't want him to leave at all, even though it was almost midnight.
"Do you want a glass of water?" you asked him.
"Sure," he replied so quickly, both of you laughed. And then he commented on the books you'd left out on your table while he drank his water very slowly.
"I have more of the books from that series in my room."
"Oh yeah?" he asked, still hovering close by. "I only read the first two."
You simply took him by the hand again, and he went along with you, leaving the glass of water behind. When you paused in your bedroom doorway and reached in to turn on the light, you laughed and said, "You still have my phone in your pocket."
"I know," he replied, his gaze dipping down toward the floor as he blushed. "I've been holding it captive, trying to figure out a way to ask you for your number."
"Really?" you asked, stepping closer and coaxing his gaze up to yours.
He nodded as he squeezed your hand again. "Feels like some sort of violation of guy code if I ask for it the same night you broke up with Jake. But I really don't want to leave here until I shoot my shot."
You gasped. Bradley Bradshaw. Wanted to shoot his shot. With you. "Shoot it," you said so softly, you weren't sure if he even heard you. But then his eyes went a little wide, and that smile you liked so much was back.
"Alright." He cleared his throat and chuckled, cheeks still pink as he said, "Hey, so, here's the thing. I've actually had a massive crush on you for months. And I'd love to get your phone number. And I realize that you just got out of a relationship, so I don't mind waiting a few weeks to use it."
You were still holding hands as you pressed your lips to his cheek, and then his free arm wrapped around your waist. You kissed the edge of his mustache, and his fingers flexed against your back. "You can have my number, Bradley."
He sucked in a deep breath as you kissed his cheek again. "Okay. Cool. That's good. And uh... how long do you think I should wait before I call you?" he asked, and you couldn't tell if he sounded more nervous or more excited.
"You could call me tomorrow," you whispered, still amazed at how safe you felt around him. "Or you could stay a little longer. Maybe we can start the third book in the series? If you want to."
"I want to," he said softly and immediately. "I want to do both. Call you tomorrow and stay a little longer."
When you tugged him toward the bookshelf next to your bed, he followed, his eyes on you as you reached for the third book. You toed your shoes off and kicked them aside as you asked, "You coming?" Then you crawled across your bed, leaving room for Bradley.
He only hesitated for a second before he yanked both shoes off and placed them near yours. Then the sight of him easing himself onto your bed and slowly settling back against the headboard next to you left you aching to put your lips on his face again. He was giving you that same warm smile he always did, and now you realized you'd been craving these glances in your direction for a long time. You'd been seeking out his smile at the bar and at barbeques and on beach days.
He cleared his throat a little nervously, probably because you were staring at him now. "Do you want me to read it out loud?" he asked, his voice so raspy, it set off goosebumps along your arms. You replied by setting the book on his lap and scooting a little closer, because you wanted to shoot your shot, too.
"In a minute." You brought your hand up to his face and brushed his stubbled, rosy cheek with your fingers before you kissed his lips. And it was just that simple. A soft press of your lips against his, and you were in the midst of the best kiss of your life. Not necessarily the needy kind where you wanted to tear his clothes off, but the kind where you were aware of every nerve ending in your body. But you already knew, if you let them, your feelings for Bradley would escalate into more.
With your forehead resting on his and your lips hovering over his mustache, you smiled and said, "Okay, now you can read the book."
He laughed softly and kissed you one more time before you eased yourself away from him. Then you curled up against his side, and he brought his arm around you as you helped him hold the book open. Nothing could have prepared you for listening to the words of your favorite story read in his voice. You barely moved, your lips pressed together as his steady, deep voice and his warm scent had you slowly melting.
Bradley read and turned the pages one handed, your cheek on his shoulder and your arm creeping around his midsection. You had no idea how much time had passed when he whispered, "Do you want me to stop?"
You didn't. It had been forever since you felt like this. Comfortable and safe. Maybe you'd never felt this way before. Like you were absolutely certain this man wouldn't hurt you. Like you were sure he'd never call you a bitch in front of his friends or in private. But you didn't know if it was okay to keep holding onto him.
"You can take the book home with you," you told him as you sat up slightly. But he made no move to get out of your bed, and you didn't ask him to. So you just settled right back where you were, and you felt Bradley's lips brush along your hair as you fell asleep.
-------------------------
Loud, angry pounding noises did not belong here right now. No, Bradley was enjoying sleeping on a soft cloud with his dream girl snuggled up next to him. Everything was warm and perfect and smelled nice. Why was there still pounding? He cracked his eyes open to find you starting to stir next to him. You stretched and made a cute little noise as your chest bumped his ribs, and then your eyes opened wide.
"Oh," you gasped, quickly pulling your arm away from where it had been thrown over his midsection. "Bradley." Your voice was a combination of surprise, disbelief and pleasure, and he wanted to make sure you were okay with the impromptu sleepover, but there was still someone pounding on your front door.
He cleared his throat, but his voice was still raspy from sleep as he said, "You want me to go yell at whoever that is?"
"No," you replied as you climbed on top of him and kissed his lips. Bradley wanted to put his hands everywhere on you, but he kept them at his sides, still unsure about what he was allowed to do right now. "I'll be right back. You stay here."
Then you were out of bed and across the room, glancing back with a smile before you vanished through the door. Bradley's heart was pounding as he let his head sink back against your pillow. Okay, he needed to play this cool. He couldn't fuck this up. He'd been waiting months for you to realize Jake wasn't good enough for you, and he'd been spending months trying to make sure he would be, given the opportunity.
Your phone was still in his back pocket along with his, and he pulled them out to check the time. But when he looked at your lock screen, he saw that you had seventeen missed texts from Jake. And now he thought he heard Jake's voice in your living room.
Bradley was out of bed instantly when he heard you ask, "What are you doing here?"
"Well, I came to apologize, but it looks like you should be the one apologizing to me." That was definitely Jake's voice, and he was definitely pissed off.
"I don't know what you mean, Jake," you said as Bradley walked slowly down your hallway. He shoved both phones in his pocket and kept himself out of sight. "If you want to apologize for constantly calling me a bitch, then go ahead. Otherwise, just leave."
Jake laughed in a way that made Bradley's hands clench into fists. "You got a lot of nerve talking to me like you think I'm stupid. I saw his Bronco outside. I know he's here." Bradley squeezed his eyes closed and took a deep breath, and then Jake loudly said, "I knew you were a bitch. How long you been fucking Bradshaw?"
"I'm not," you insisted, your voice shaking. And as much as Bradley had loved reading your book to you and snuggling in your bed all night, now he wished he hadn't stayed. Because you didn't deserve this.
"You really expect me to believe that?" Jake asked you maliciously. "Where is he, you fucking slut?"
"Don't you dare call her that," Bradley practically growled as he stormed into the living room. Jake was standing too close to you, and he didn't like that. But you were standing your ground as you turned to look at Bradley with some tears shimmering in your eyes. "I never touched her, and she never touched me. So just apologize or leave."
"Fuck you, Bradshaw," Jake spat. "I don't have to listen to a single fucking think you say."
"Get out of my apartment," you demanded. "I dumped you last night for a reason: you drink too much, and you're mean to me. And it was a long time coming. Just go."
Bradley could sense Jake's hesitation, so he took a few steps closer until he was standing right behind you. He made eye contact with him, just daring him to try something. Because Bradley wasn't in the mood to listen to him saying nasty shit about you, especially not when Jake interrupted the start of something so perfect.
"Go," you repeated. Jake looked you up and down from head to toe and shook his head before he finally turned and slammed your front door behind him.
"Are you okay?" Bradley asked softly, wishing he knew if it was okay to touch you.
"Yeah," you whispered before turning and throwing your arms around his neck.
Bradley let his hands settle on your waist as you looked up at him with bright eyes. He didn't feel bad about stepping on Jake's toes any longer. "I'm sorry if I made things worse for you by being here. But I can't really bring myself to apologize for falling asleep with you, because I liked it so much."
You laughed. It was the prettiest sound. And then you kissed him again with more heat this time, and Bradley had to convince himself to do this the right way. "Hey," he whispered as he broke the kiss. "I still need your phone number."
"Okay," you replied, and you whispered it to him as he entered it into his phone contacts.
"Okay," he echoed as he handed your phone over for the first time since he took it from you outside the Hard Deck. You didn't even flinch as you swiped away the texts from Jake. "Now, here's what's going to happen. You ready?"
"I'm ready," you told him with a hesitant smile.
He kissed you one more time before he started to back away toward your front door. "I'm gonna go, but I'll call you."
"You better," you replied, and your smile was a little more sure now.
"I will," he promised. "Just wait." Then he opened the door and closed it behind him as he tapped your name on his phone screen.
You answered immediately, a giggle in your voice. "Hi, Bradley."
"Hey, so you know how you said I could call you today?"
"Yes," you replied, clearly smiling. "I do recall saying that."
"Great. So I was thinking I'd head home quick to get changed, and then I could come pick you up? Maybe we could get breakfast burritos and coffee from Lucy's Takeout? Go sit on the beach with the book?"
There was a beat of silence before you said, "That sounds nice."
"Then it's a date."
Bradley was all smiles as he ended the call and knocked on your door. When you opened it a second later, he leaned in and kissed you. "I actually need my shoes," he murmured against your lips, and you started laughing.
"Wait here," you told him before you dashed toward your room and then returned holding his shoes and the book. Bradley slipped his shoes on and took the book in one hand as he pulled you close with the other.
"I'll be right back. Like seriously, it'll be embarrassing how quickly I get back here."
You buried your face against his chest and whispered, "It'll be embarrassing how much that makes me smile."
He had to force himself to leave after that, because the sooner he got back to you, the sooner he could start making you his.

yard work - chapter 12 (regina george x reader)
fandom: Mean Girls (all media)
pairing: Regina George x OFC/Reader
summary: You'd been in the same class as Regina George since kindergarten. You'd lived on the same street even longer. Once upon a time, when life was sandbox disputes and who got the swing first arguments, you'd even been friends. Now, in junior year of high school, you doubted she even remembered you. The same couldn't be said about you. You definitely remembered her. warning(s): a homophobic character saying some homophobic shit. listen, it's set in 2004 it was inevitable.

Tumblr media
"So..." Gretchen drawled from the passenger seat. "You're still not doing the dance with us?"
Regina glanced at her. "No."
"Cady's taking the lead." The brunette said, very badly acting as if she wasn't looking for a reaction. Regina resisted the urge to bite back, to defend her honour, and kept her eyes on the road.
"Great." She said, voice tart. "She's doing the stunt, is she?"
"Yup." Gretchen's breath hitched. "She's, uh, got it nailed down."
A mean smirk spread her lips. "Oh, really? I'm looking forward to it."
Gretchen swallowed. Regina spied from the rearview mirror Karen was watching the scenery pass by dreamily.
"What's up, Karen?" Regina asked.
"The sky!" Karen stated proudly. "And birds, I suppose. Hold on..." She felt up her boobs, pulling at her nipple obscenely. "Ouch. Yeah, it's gonna start snowing soon."
Regina, knowing the forecast had promised much the same thing, hummed. "Gonna have to stay in, then."
Gretchen shifted her weight on the passenger seat. She seemed uneasy. Both she and Karen had been severely late to arrive at her car today and had seemed... Dodgy. Regina could hardly blame her, though. Things had gotten weird recently.
She wasn't being nice. Not exactly. She'd just, kind of, dialled it back a little. A year ago she'd have spent the days leading up to Christmas break making the rounds, spreading nasty rumours about this and that, ensuring everybody's holidays were ruined just the right amount. This time, she'd forgone that.
A part of it, a large majority, was due to the Thanksgiving fiasco with Jorts. Another, smaller part, was because she was tired. She just didn't want to.
Arriving at her house, Regina parked and stepped out of her car. Gretchen and Karen followed her inside where mom greeted them with mugs of hot chocolate. Fancy chocolate and skim milk. Regina pointedly left her mug on the tray.
As she was going up the stairs, she noticed neither Gretchen nor Karen had grabbed a mug.
"Take them." She gestured vaguely back to her mom. "Don't be wasteful, girls."
Making her way up leisurely, she relished in the sound of the two girls scrambling to grab their mugs and then follow her as fast as possible. She might've loosened her hold on the student body, but Gretchen and Karen she'd keep. She didn't care if it was immoral or something, she'd done a lot of work to get them where they were.
"Shane Oman's doing a Christmas party this Friday," Gretchen informed them as they settled around Regina's room. "There's talk he's specifically invited Doris Harris."
"Who the fuck names their kid Doris Harris?" Regina scoffed and inspected her nails. She'd have to get a new set soon. "Are you going?"
"What? You- you're not?" Gretchen sputtered.
"I have... Plans." Important, top-secret plans. "Shane Oman is a sleazebag and a womanizer. Doris can have him." She said airily and looked at the two girls sitting on her floor.
"What plans do you have?" Gretchen probed. Karen looked on, seeming to be in her own world. Little specks of snow were beginning to fall outside.
"Private." She left it at that. "Who are you bringing to the party?"
"Probably Jason." Gretchen sighed. Regina's face twisted.
"You're still with that douche?" She sat down cross-legged near the two. "Why?"
"Oh, do you think I should break up with him?" Gretchen looked between her and Karen, seeming lost. "I can do that."
Regina rolled her eyes. Okay, maybe she'd put a little too much work in these two. They were old enough to think for themselves.
"Look, Gretchen..." She closed her eyes. "I'm not gonna say sorry. I'm, uh, just not going to." She didn't tack on the yet that meant to crawl up her throat. Too much too fast. "However, it's becoming apparent that my usual methods are no longer as effective. Exhibit A, Cady Heron."
Gretchen stared at her. Then, her head tilted to the side like that of an inquisitive dog. Karen was gaping at her, having probably not comprehended a single word. Regina sighed.
"Look, I'm not gonna just waste my time and energy putting people down anymore!" She was feeling way too defensive and the others hadn't even said anything. "I might, like, join a sports team or something for senior year. Focus on myself."
"Wow." Gretchen breathed out. "So, you're just gonna step down?"
"I'm still Regina fucking George. I'm not gonna stop being me." That being a vicious bitch with a lot of hate in her heart. "I'm just saying that it's getting old."
"Why? You- you can't just stop. That makes no sense. Someone's gonna take you over, like- like Doris Harris!" Gretchen took several short breaths, this close to hyperventilating. "Doris Harris is going to be the new Regina George!"
She rolled her eyes so hard her entire head rolled with them. "That statement contradicts itself. If she's the new Regina George, I'm still on top. The original."
"You sound so alike." Karen smiled. "You two are so cute. True love."
"Karen!" Gretchen snapped, sounding like a chihuahua. "Shush!"
"Who sounds alike?" Intrigued, Regina leaned forward. "Me and who? True love?"
"Oh, uh..." Karen looked to Gretchen, who was trying (and failing) to subtly shake her head, and then to Regina whose eyes bored into hers. "Uhhhhhhh..."
"She's rebooting." Regina huffed, leaning back. "Gretch, I just... I don't care anymore."
It had been a startling realization. Not a quick one despite the one eureka moment that'd brought it all together. There were things more important to her than maintaining a hierarchy in high school. It still was important, to a degree, but well. If she had to pick between one-upping some random girl at a shitty party and date night with Jorts, the choice was entirely too obvious. It was going to be date night every time.
(If she even had that privilege anymore. She's called her slurs, for fuck's sake. She could only hope her apology would be good enough.)
"How can you not care?" Gretchen screeched. Karen sipped at her hot cocoa nervously.
"I just don't." Something like this, not caring about something, wasn't a decision she could consciously make. At least, not entirely. Once you stopped caring, you just did. That was that.
It wasn't easy, though. She didn't have the strength of will to be deliberately mean to everyone, every single day, but she would not tolerate people stepping on her toes. If somebody encroached, she wouldn't hesitate to bring them down. Where the line went, distinguishing between a serious threat and a general nuisance, was the hard part.
Letting go of the instinct to just be mean was a challenging hurdle.
"She's changed you. All this time, you've been talking to her, haven't you? J, Jorts, whoever she is. She's corrupted you." Gretchen sneered. "What happened, Regina? Or should I say, Reggie?"
Regina looked at her friend, minion, accomplice- whatever.
"Excuse me?" She said, so quietly it could've been mistaken for a whisper.
"You heard me." Gretchen's sneer dissolved, old instinct to cower kicking in. "Reggie." She hissed, a feeble attempt at keeping her power.
"What the fuck do you know about J?" Regina could feel herself grow cold, anger mixing with panic, mixing with visceral, palpable terror.
Of course, all that manifested as blind fury.
"We know plenty about J. You've never shut up about her. Y'know, I used to think she was an ex-boyfriend of yours 'cause of the way you talked about her. And now, it all makes sense." Gretchen spread her arms provocatively. "Because she's gotten into your head, used her sticky, lesbo fingers to mix you up. Snap out of it, Regina. This is not who you are."
Anger roiling in her stomach, she was about to release pure acid onto the dimwitted, insensitive, stupid girl, when Karen spoke up.
"Gretchen, you're being stupid." She said so lightly. Both of them turned to look at Karen. She was watching the window, looking immensely pleased with herself. Yet another correct weather report.
"What?" Gretchen breathed out.
"Stupid. That's stupid. I didn't know you were, like, homophobic." Seeming to focus, Karen turned to face Gretchen. "I think I told you my brother's gay."
"Oh." Gretchen deflated. Regina didn't know what she should do. "Well, that's different, he's a guy! Lesbians are totally different."
"How?" Karen, more engaged than Regina had witnessed her be in a long time, kept her eerily wide eyes trained on Gretchen. "How is it any different?"
"Listen, everybody can do what they want with... Whoever, like, consents, but it's different when they shove their beliefs in people's faces." Regina, quite astounded, didn't know what to say. Karen did, though.
"J didn't shove anything in our faces. I don't think she shoved anything in Regina's face." She put her finger to her chin. "Unless they're into that sort of thing."
"Karen..." Regina sighed.
"Anyway, I think your opinions about gay people are weird, Gretchen. You should look into that."
"My opinions are just fine!" Gretchen's shoulders rose all the way up to her ears. "You guys are the weird ones! It's not like I hate gay people! There's just, y'know, healthy concern. If it was so easy to turn Regina then what can they do to impressionable little kids?" Gretchen licked her lips nervously. "What about Kylie?" She asked, looking to Regina for sympathy or agreement or something.
By that point, Regina had checked out.
"I don't think Regina's changed. Not really." Karen's owl eyes turned to her. "She's just... Shedding. Like a snake. Getting a new skin." She dragged her eyes up and down. "Yeah. New, shiny scales. Like a blonde, human green tree python. My dad has one. A snake one."
"Thanks," Regina said, tone flat. She then turned to Gretchen. "Get out."
Her hands trembled. Rage or fear, she couldn't tell where the tremor stemmed from.
"Regina, this isn't right-"
Just the sound of her voice made her blood boil. Her eyes stung too, but she refused to feel anything but anger.
"What isn't right is that you're still in my house. J is my childhood friend and the assumptions you've made about her are life-threatening. People are killed because they're gay, Gretchen. She hasn't turned me into anything, much less something you're insinuating." The claim that Jorts had turned her into a lesbian was false. If there were to be a claim about Regina's sexuality alone, then the answer wouldn't be so clear. "Get your fucking act together. I'm too good to bother with high school politics. We're going to college in two years. Stop being so small-minded and do something with your life for once."
She heaved in lungfuls of air. She stood up abruptly, walked to the door and pointed down the hallway.
"I-" Gretchen tried to say something, but Regina just reiterated her point.
"Out!"
She didn't particularly care that her friend (ex-friend) didn't have a ride home. She didn't care that she was a bigot, that Gretchen was right about her and Karen being the weird ones. She didn't care that Jorts had definitely changed her in some way.
As soon as the brunette had scuttled down the stairs, the front door slamming on her way out, Regina slumped against her door. She didn't care. She did not care.
"So, is it just us, now?" Karen asked from her spot on the floor. Regina was pretty sure she hadn't moved an inch since she plopped down. "Is J gonna be our new friend?"
"I don't know, Karen." She buried her face in her hands. Fuck. She wasn't supposed to care. "I didn't know Gretchen was like that."
"Hmm." Karen hummed. "I didn't know you weren't like that."
Her head snapped up, looking at Karen. Her expression was unreadable, like a book with blank pages.
"I... I'm scared, Karen."
"Yeah. My brother's boyfriend is from Alabama and he's been beat up before 'cause he looks gay. And he is gay, but the earring gave it away, I think. And my uncle died of AIDS and my family don't really talk about him and we weren't allowed to see him. My aunt that's in New York's been living with her best friend of, like, thirty years for forever and I went to visit one time and they had only one bedroom."
That was perhaps the longest, most coherent sentence Karen had ever said. Too bad the subject was so grim.
"Wow, Karen. Sounds like your family's full of..." What could she call them? Her mind defaulted to nasty slurs. "People like that."
"I guess." She smiled faintly. "I hear them crying sometimes, in my brother's room, when they're home for the holidays. Mama says I shouldn't go up and snuggle them until they feel better. They're having a moment." Karen looked confused at that. "Are we having a moment?"
Regina slowly unfurled from her slump against the door. "Maybe."
"Oh. Okay." She accepted easily. The familiarity of the scenario had a smile creeping back to Regina. "My brother smiles the biggest when me and his boyfriend team up against him at board games. My mom cries when we visit my uncle's grave. She tells us stories about him and shows us pictures. My aunt has three cats with her bestie and they call them their children and they wear matching rings."
"That's really sweet, Karen." Regina, now smiling in earnest, shuffled closer.
"I don't really get it." She said in the same light tone she'd use when talking about schoolwork. "Like, my brother's boyfriend is really nice so I don't get why people beat him up for dating my brother. And I think it was really mean that my grandma didn't let mama see her brother when he was sick. And my aunt and her best friend already live together, have cat-kids, and kiss on the mouth, so why can't they get married for real?"
Regina stared ahead, more than a little floored. Gretchen, simultaneously surprisingly and unsurprisingly, was a homophobe. Regina knew the political climate and knew that being openly gay was social suicide, and sometimes literal suicide, but she hadn't expected someone so close to her to be like that. They hadn't talked about it much, to be fair. Besides, Regina wasn't much better. While she might've not been a real homophobe, as in actually subscribed to the ideology, she'd done plenty of homophobic acts.
Whether or not in the name of projection or denial didn't really matter. Janis 'Imi'ike had been the first girl she'd subjected to hate crimes and discrimination, but not the last. How many times had she shoved other girls under the bus so she could get off scot-free? How many times had she done it for a twisted sense of fun?
Too many, was the easy answer. Not enough, whispered the scared, hidden thing in the back rooms of her mind.
And Karen was an ally. A supporter of the cause. And unexpectedly well-spoken when she had something she liked to talk about.
"Karen, I like girls."
"Me too!"
Regina's heart beat like a drum. She was beginning to sweat.
"No- I mean, like, I'm... A lesbian. I guess."
"Okay!"
She snuck a glance at the other girl. She was peering mournfully into her empty mug.
"Like your aunt and her best friend." She took a deep breath. "I like girls in that way."
"Uhh, duh," Karen smiled at her, beamed, really. "J is your true love."
"I wouldn't go that far." Regina sighed but had to purse her lips to keep from smiling. At the same time, a knot tightened in her chest, like hiccups trying to escape. She threw her head back and puffed out a breath, blinking rapidly.
"Let's go get more hot chocolate and I'll tell you about my talent show performance." She wiped discreetly at her eyes and extended a hand to Karen.
"Hot cocoa!" The girl exclaimed as she pulled herself up with Regina's help. "Ouuuhh, what kinda performance?"
"A song." Regina guided them down the hallway. "For her."
Obviously, she had more than just a song planned. A proper apology, for one, was in the works. Karen didn't need to know about that, though. That was between her and J.
Notes: Boo I lied it's not the last one. I thought it would be! I was wrong! I did start rambling like I kind of predicted in the notes of the last chapter. Or, like, I felt the ending would be a little too abrupt without some downtime. So have some Regina POV!
Will no longer be making predictions about when the end is. I'll only be contradicting myself lol. But like, the arc is coming to a close, a natural end is coming. And then the epilogue things.
Praying to god the taglist will work. Trying a new method today, fingers crossed! Hand-typing every single fucking name, no commas in between names, the utmost technicalities. This is the night fellas, the night we've been waiting for.
Edit: it didn't work. in fact, it worked worse than the other times! fuck! put another version of the list, back with commas, and it seems to tag some people but not all. gonna have to do some scouring on the internets.

I’ll go back to Armin for a second. I think Armin prefers love making (hate that term) over fucking, many probably agree. What does he do that distinguishes lovemaking from fucking?
a/n: senpaii you're absolutely right and i agree. here you go the two (2) people who asked for this now 🫶 i really love this one i hope y'all do too 🤍 i'll get back to the taglist eventually!
cw: armin arlert x fem reader, oral sex (m and f receiving), penetrative sex (piv), breeding kink 😃👍, pet names (angel, pretty)
Tumblr media
making love
armin sets the mood. i'm talking rose petals trailing to the bedroom, candlelight, chocolate covered strawberries, the whole nine.
and if he wasn't already all about pleasuring you, you can count on having lots of attention from him when he makes love to you. from kisses trailing from head to toe, soft "i love you"'s to "you're so beautiful"'s spoken against your skin, he takes his time with you; hands exploring your already familiar body for probably the millionth time. he finds something new to love about you every day.
he kisses your inner thighs lovingly. his lips travel slowly to your core, flicking his tongue sensually up and down your slit before finding it's home at your clit. his fingers slide in and pump gently at a steady pace, curling up just enough to hit your sweet spot.
when you're close to cumming, he quickly shifts positions to put his cock inside you. he holds your hands against the mattress, level with your head. fingers intertwined, his grip tightens with the first thrust of his hips. his pace is slow and steady. heavy breathing, sighing, quietly mumbling about how good you feel, how pretty you are, and how much he loves you. he lets go of one hand so he can rub your clit, ensuring that you feel as good as possible when you cum on his dick.
fucking
when armin's desires are a little more libidinous, he'll want to start with his dick getting sucked. he loves the look and feel of his dick in your mouth. it's such a dirty thing for his pretty girl to do :(
he's much more taunting when he fucks, too. if you gag while sucking him off?
"aw, too much for your pretty mouth? you can take it, angel. show me you can handle it."
once you've satisfied him with your dick-sucking abilities, he rewards you with his sweet, hot load down your throat. not something he does often because it's wasteful to him. he much prefers to dump his cum inside you in hopes you'll give him a baby one day.
while he's recovering, he'll make sure you get yours too. he'll eat you out, but much more messily and hungrily, like he's starving. he also spells his name with his tongue on your clit as a way of marking his territory, like some kind of ritual.
when he's ready to fuck, he folds you into a pretzel and watches how you take him in. he gives you about one or two soft thrusts to adjust before absolutely pounding into you, the tip of his cock kissing your sweet spot just perfectly.
while he's fucking you like this, he's a whiny, whimpery mess with tears in his eyes. he stays elated on cloud nine, and when he cums he makes sure to cum as deep inside you as possible, so not to be wasteful. :)
"gonna cum, angel. you ready for it? gonna give me a baby, right? gotta fill you nice and full— ah fuck yeah—take my cum— y'look so pretty fucked and full"

Tears Of The Sky
masterlist
pairing: niklaus mikaelson x female reader
warnings: fluff and kissing, also a pinch of jealous nik
summary: a rainy day with klaus - requested by @viavolterra-wp
a/n: via i'm gonna get to the angst request for klaus but i suck at writing it and i'm trying to come up with something depressing to write about lmao, i hope this fills the void in your soul <3
song: valse sentimentale, op. 51, no. 6 - pyotr ilyich tchaikovsky
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You groan as you hear your alarm go off. You contemplate on whether or not you should throw it out the window.
"Shut off the bloody alarm," Klaus says from his spot next to you on the bed.
You reach over and press the stop button before looking outside. A smile makes its way to your face when you see the rain pouring down. You turn and kiss Klaus on the forehead, "Nik, get up, it's raining!"
"So?" He pulls the blankets closer to him, effectively ripping them off your body. After dealing with that for so long, you don't even bother trying to steal them back.
"Well, we can't let a good rainy day go to waste, can we?"
"Of course we can, love."
You roll your eyes and huff as you fall back on the bed, "Well, if you don't get up, I guess I'll have to find someone else to spend the day with. Maybe that brunette Salva-"
In an instant Klaus is up and on top of you on the bed, "I think my company would be better than his anyday," he narrows his eyes at you.
"I don't know about that," you push further, "he was good company that one night a few weeks-"
You are cut off as Klaus starts tickling your sides, "What was that, love?"
You squirm under him as you try to break away, "Nik! I c-can't breathe! Stop! Please!" Your laughs make him smile, showing his beautiful dimples that you love so much.
"Hm, since you asked so nicely," he stops and falls next to you on the mattress. His head is resting on his arm and he looks at you with adoration in his eyes. "You're so beautiful, sweetheart," he whispers.
Your face heats up at the compliment. "I also think you are very pretty, Mr. Scary Original Hybrid."
He grins, "You think I'm scary?"
"Oh, not at all, you are a soft puppy," you take a hand and squeeze his cheeks.
He playfully scoffs and grabs your wrist, "I am not a puppy."
"Sure you aren't. Anyway, I was thinking we could bake some cookies."
"Great idea, love."
You two get out of bed and go to the bathroom. You both brush your teeth, hair, and after having a small water fight, you wash your faces.
You head to the kitchen with Klaus behind you. You grab a bowl and place it on the counter, "Nik, can you grab the butter, flour, eggs, sugar, and chocolate chips."
He nods and gets them while you grab a whisk, pan, and preheat the oven.
"Thank you." You two now add the ingredients into the measuring cups so everything is prepared. "Okay, do you want to do the honor of pouring the first ingredient," you ask him.
"'Course I do," he grabs the flour and holds it over the bowl.
"Pour it slow-"
It was too late. He flipped the cup upside down and although most four stayed in the bowl, there was a good amount now floating in your faces. Klaus and you swat your hands and cought a bit at you breathe in the flower.
"Oops. Now I know for next time," he shrugs.
"Who says you are going to pour it next time?"
"Me-"
"Let's add the softened butter and eggs now," you put them into the bowl and handed Klaus the whisk. "Stir gently, please."
He nods and as he stirs you slowly pour in the sugar and then the chocolate chips.
"Perfect! We can start rolling them and placing them on the pans."
You two roll them into balls and space them out on the baking pans before putting them in the oven. After washing your hands, you and Klaus go into the living room as he picks a movie, "The Parent Trap? Nik, you know me too well."
"What can I say," he grabs a blanket and tosses it onto the couch. You sit down and cuddle with him on the couch as you wait for the cookies to finish.
The timer on the oven goes off and you stand up, place the oven mitts on, and take the two pans out, putting them on the stove. Nik appears next to you and he goes to grab one but you slap his hand away. "No! They are too hot, Nik. You'll burn yourself."
"Pfft, I'm an Original, love. A cookie isn't going to burn me," he goes back to grab one. You sigh and watch in amusement as he places one in this mouth, jumps around while it burns him, rushes to the garbage to spit it out, and then goes to the sink to spray cold water in his mouth.
"What happened to, 'i'M aN oRiGiNaL, lOvE. a CoOkIe IsN't GoInG tO bUrN mE.'"
He crosses his arms and walks out of the kitchen back to the couch. You laugh and follow him to continue the movie while the cookies cool down.
Tumblr media
Now you were laying on a couch in Klaus' art room as he painted you. "Nikkkk, this is taking forever," you groan.
"Don't move, love. I'm almost done."
You think for a moment, "Isn't the butterfly effect crazy?"
He lets out a deep sigh, "Not this again, love. Last time you made my brain hurt."
"It's just like, interesting to think about. If I take one step in another direction, that changes my whole life. That brought me to thinking about other dimensions."
"Other dimensions?"
"Yeah. I heard somewhere that there could be other dimensions where there is every other choice you could possibly have made. That's a lot of dimensions."
"I'm confused," Klaus glances at you and continues to paint.
"Here's an easy example, if there was a fork in the road and I chose one choice option, in another dimension I would have chosen the other."
"Ohh, that makes sense."
"Yeah, so then I was like, wondering if there are several versions on ourselves living on earth in the same timeline."
Klaus drops his head, "Sweetheart, I don't know how much more my brain can handle."
"Okay, I'll save that one for another day. It's hard to explain anyway."
"I'll hold you to that, love. I just finished anyway, come and see," he says excitedly. Although he has hundreds of drawings and paintings of you, he gets just as excited to show you them each time.
You head over to where he was sitting in front of his canvas, "Nik! It's stunning!"
"Not as stunning as you," he winks at you.
"I love it, Nik."
"And I love you," he pulls you to him and places his lips on yours. You pull back after a bit and leave him in a daze.
Tumblr media
It's now afternoon time and Klaus said he was going to take you out to dinner. He told you to dress up but you were stuck on picking a dress. There was only one person you could call for help on this matter.
You go and grab your phone, scrolling through the contacts, before calling the number. After about two rings, the call is picked up.
"Bex!"
"Hello, angel," you hear the voice of your best friend come through the phone.
"Bekah, I miss you so much."
"I miss you, too. Is Nik being tolerable? If not I can come and rescue you and we could run away together."
"Yes he is, but I'll take up that offer any day."
"Great! I'll start planning."
"Before you do that, I need your help. Nik is taking me to dinner and I can't pick a dress. I have three top choices but I need you to pick from them, please," you say while grab a perfume you are going to put on.
"Sure! Send me seperate pictures of each one and I'll text you which one I think you should wear."
"Thank you! You're a lifesaver, I love you so much."
"Love you, too. Call me again soon!"
"Of course, bye Bex."
You hand up the phone and send pictures of the dresses. A minute later you get a response from her and you smile. You throw on the dress she picked and you go into the bathroom to do your hair and makeup.
You finish getting ready and put your heels on. You go downstairs and see Klaus on the couch waiting for you. He hears you and turns, he has you clench his jaw to keep it from dropping.
"Are you ready to go, Nik?" You stroll towards him and grab his hand.
He blushes and stutters out a yes. He grabs his car keys and you grab a large umbrella. Klaus grabs you by the waist and speeds you both into the car so you were barely wet.
On the drive there, Klaus let you choose the music - which barely ever happens. You, of course, took that to your advantage.
You get into the diner and the waiter takes you to a booth. You order drinks and Klaus glare as the waiter as he takes your food order.
He walks away nervously and you put your head on your hand as your elbow rests on the table.
"Is it really necessary to glare at the poor boy?"
"Yes it was. He was staring at you."
"Usually when you are talking to a person, you look at them."
"He was stuttering."
"Probably because you were scaring him."
"But-"
"You get jealous too often."
"I can't help it, you are too gorgeous."
"I promise you that you don't have to get jealous, Nik. I love you," you smile at him.
"I love you, too," he grumbles.
The waiter comes back with your food, "H-here you go, enjoy."
You smile at the boy and whisper, "Sorry about him."
He nods and smiles back before walking away.
Tumblr media
After Nik pays for the dinner, you too go back to the car. Once you arrive back home, Klaus carries you inside and speeds you to your shared room.
He tosses you onto the bed and goes on top of you. He kisses you so passionately that it speaks so many words.
You tug on his hair in the back and he puts a hand on your waist and one resting on the bed next to your head.
He bites your bottom lip and slides his tongue against it. You open your mouth and move your tongues against one another. You both pull back breathlessly after a few minutes.
"I've been waiting for that all night," Klaus says.
"Of course you have. Do you want to get ready for bed?"
"Sure," he kisses your cheek and rolls off of you.
Klaus speeds to the bathroom across the hall to get ready and you use the one in this room. You take off the makeup and jewelry. You do your nighttime routine and throw on one of Klaus' shirts and a new pair of underwear.
You hop into bed and pull the cover over you. Klaus joins you and you hand him the remote, "You can pick what we watch this time."
"Hmm, decisions, decisions."
He finally picks a movie and you are surprised to see it was Twilight. "You enjoyed the movie?" You recall back to when you introduced him to the saga and he seemed like he hated it the whole time.
"Not exactly, but it's fun seeing the way they made vampires and werewolves."
"Touché."
You lay your head on Klaus' chest while he plays with your hair. Your eyes flutter shut about an hour and a half into the movie. He kisses your head and whispers, "Goodnight, my love," before falling asleep.

One-sentence concept: You’re very pretty like your dad!
Your third pregnancy was proving to be the toughest out of all them. You were constantly uncomfortable and baby boy was so active, you were hardly getting any sleep every night.
Up until now, Jack's schedule had been crazy busy, traveling across the country for performances and appearances, but when he noticed how taxed you were taking care of the girls while in your second trimester, he scaled back and took some time to be home.
You'd been tossing and turning all night, and had finally drifted off to sleep when you heard the girls run into your bedroom, jumping on the bed.
"Good Morning, Mama!" You smiled, your eyes still closed, at Aaliyah's lisp as she wrapped you in a hug. "Careful of the baby, Liyah", you shielded your belly as she settled in the bed next to you. Jack was trailing behind the girls with breakfast from one of your favorite Louisville spots. "Sorry, I tried to get them to be quiet, but they're so fast."
"Its fine. Thank you." Jack gave you a quick kiss as he handed you your food. You sat up in bed, wasting no time digging into your pancakes and bacon. "Just give me a second to eat and then I'll get the girls dressed for the day." Your mind was already racing with all of the errands you needed to get done today.
"I was thinking we'd switch things up today. I booked you a massage and spa day." Jack wanted you to have a day totally dedicated to relaxing. "That's sweet babe, but I planned on taking the girls to get their Christmas gifts. Their excited to pick out gifts for Nana and Poppa." You took a deep breath as your rubbed your belly.
"I'm gonna take care of everything you needed to get done today." Jack took your phone and went to your notes app where he knew you kept your to-do list, his eyes growing wide as he scrolled. "Wow. Why do you need to go the hardware store?" He scrunched his brow in confusion. "Oh, we need lightbulbs for the kitchen." You answered with a full mouth.
"You know we can hire someone to help around the house." Jack chuckled, "I don't want my pregnant wife changing any lightbulbs." He stood and helped you up just as you were taking your last bite. "I just want you to relax. From now on, your only task is to focus on growing our baby, okay?" His hand found your stomach as he pressed a kiss to your forehead.
While you were spending the day in complete relaxation, being waited on hand and foot in a fluffy white robe, Jack was trying his best to get everything done on your to-do list. The morning went pretty smoothly and he was able to get a lot done, but by the time lunch rolled around, he was ready for a nap and the girls were just getting started.
"Daddy! Can we play dress up?" Aaliyah jumped up and down in front of an exhausted Jack, her face covered in chocolate that he bribed her with if she behaved. Not his finest moment, but you didn't need to know. "How about we take a nap first?" He yawned, leaning against the kitchen counter.
"We don't take naps anymore." Brooklyn chimed in. "Since when?"
"Since I turned five. I don't think Aaliyah has ever taken a nap." Brooklyn looked at her sister who was bouncing off the walls. "Yeah! I hate naps!" She jumped all over Jack. "Daddy, please! Can we play dress up?"
"Yes, but just for a few minutes, and then we're having quiet time." The girls eagerly agreed, dragging Jack to their playroom. He laid on the rug in the middle of the room as the girls started pulling out their costumes, and before he knew it, he was dead asleep.
"Jack. Jack. Jackman." Jack's eyes fluttered open to the sound of your voice. You were standing over him, a small bag from Sephora in your hands, your cute belly poking out under your sweater. "Hey baby", he sleepily smiled at you, "did you have a good time at the spa?"
"I did, but it looks like I missed the true beauty experience here." He narrowed his eyes at you, not understanding, so you motioned over your lips, making him brush the palm of his hand over his mouth, a red substance visible. Jack sat up quickly, a plastic crown falling off of his head. "What did you girls do?"
"We made you pretty, Daddy!" You stifled a laugh as you handed him your phone with the camera open. "What the fu-", you stopped Jack before he could swear in front of the girls. "Jack, breathe. Its washable." He took a minute to examine the full face of makeup the girls had put on him while he was sleeping, complete with purple eyeshadow, bright pink blush and deep red lipstick. "What do you think, Daddy?" He looked over at Aaliyah, who had wide eyes, so proud of her makeup job.
"It looks great, baby. Thank you." He wrapped her in a big hug, giving her a kiss on the cheek. Brooklyn turned to you. "Mama, what do you think of my makeup?" She curled up against your bump, looking up at you.
"You look beautiful, B. You're very pretty...like your dad." You couldn't hide your giggles as you looked at Jack, who gave you a playful scowl. "C'mon daddy, lets get you cleaned up."

Summary: While walking through a snowy farmer's market, Sanji asks you an important question.
Warning: pure fluff, very short/rushed
You smiled to yourself, inhaling the aroma coming off of the disposable cup of hot chocolate in your hands. The foam dish warmed your fingertips as you took a sip, waiting for Sanji to finish up at a fish stand. Just then, he glanced back up to see you waiting, and cut his interaction with the fisherman short, before tucking what he'd ought into a wicker basket.
"Sorry, I just had to," he said sheepishly. "I haven't seen this kinda stuff since I left the East Blue. It was one our signature dishes on the Baratie, you're gonna love it-" You could hardly keep track of him when he got like this, rambling on about food and ingredients and the different was they can be used.
"I'm sure I will," you giggled. "I love anything you make."
Sanji suddenly fell nearly silent as his stare fell downcast. "I know you do..." he muttered under his breath. The truth was, you weren't a very picky eater, he could serve you rotten salad with wilted lettuce and you'd eat it. You were never wasteful or gluttonous like other people he knew. If he ever made something experimental that nobody liked, he could always count on you to give him a five star rating.
"What's the matter?" you asked, tilting your head and stepping in front of him, forcing your face into his line of sight.
"Oh, nothing." he dismissed with a melancholic smile.
"Come on, Sanji," you pressed. "Obviously something's bothering you! You're all quiet now."
"I guess I just have something on my mind is all..." he trailed, brushing passed you to continue on the path again.
"Well, out with it!" you pouted, pulling on his sleeve, making him stop again.
"It's not the right time." he insisted, pulling you along.
"The right time for what?" you whined, beginning to become impatient with him.
"You're not going to let it go, are you?" he finally asked, giving you a glimmer of hope. You shook your head persistently, prompting him to sigh and dig into his pocket. "Just remember, if this isn't perfect, you forced it out of me." he teased, sinking to his left knee. Gazing up at you with that sweet, charming smile of his, he offered you a ring. It was a simple silver band, speckled with tiny diamonds and a teardrop-shaped sapphire as the centerpiece.
Tears immediately began rolling down your cheeks as you slapped your palm to your lips in disbelief. "S-Sanji..."
"You've always been my biggest fan, (Y/N). My taste tester when I'm unsure, my sous chef when I need help, and when nobody else likes my food, I know you do. You're my biggest support and I want you by my side forever."
"S-Sanji..." you sniffled, cheeks blushed and snowflakes catching on your hair. "I don't know what to say..."
"Say yes..." he beamed, tears pricking his eyes as he grabbed your left hand and slid the ring onto your finger. "Please bel amour?"
Finally catching up with the world around you, you quickly nodded your head, sobbing as you fell to your knees with him. "Yes, a million times, yes!" you cried into his chest. "I'd love to!"
"Thank you mon tresor," Sanji sighed, pulling you closer, not caring about the market goers passing you by. "C'mon, let's finish the shopping and get back tot he ship. I'm gonna make you somehting extra special."

Could you do omori x reader thats rich and spoils them with gifts and trips and stuff? 💛Thanks
A/N: i already did this with aubrey but i'm gonna redo her part cuz it was awhile ago
RW OMORI characters with a rich S/O who spoils them
includes: SUNNY, AUBREY, KEL, HERO, MARI, and BASIL
Tumblr media
SUNNY
SUNNY hates it
not because he doesn't like gifts or money or anything, but he truly thinks he doesn't deserve it. you can spoil anyone in the world, why him?
he'll get flustered and look away mumbling "thanks" if you hand him a gift
concerned as to why you can just. blow money on him
he'll accept these things, because he doesn't want to be rude, but it's still awfully embarrassing . he has no idea how he scored someone like you
he wants to scream into his pillow whenever u show up to his house with his favorite drink/food
tries to go all out and hand-make you gifts for your birthday and such but he feels bad since it can never out-do your gifts
he's kinda scared you're gonna betray him and you're trying to get on his good side or something, so it helps if u reassure him you just love him a whole lot
AUBREY
she doesn't get it, why would you do something like that for lil old her??
but she cherishes everything you do for her to the fullest extent.
she spends a lot of time at ur house and has lots of sleepovers with u to get away from her own home life
she rlly thinks she doesn't deserve you. like at all
tries to take you places and pay for your meal but she can't do it all the time, so she makes the most out of every date and trip
gets embarrassed if u show up with a gift and just hugs you until she isn't flushed anymore,, she can't have you seeing her face!!
she doesn't have a lot of money so she really appreciates everything u get her, especially food
gobbles on any food u get her or dinner u buy,, she isn't passing free food up!!
KEL
"oh! for me?? are you sure??"
he'll be awfully confused every time you randomly show up with something he's been wanting
if you buy him food or take him to GINO's a lot he'll try to cut down his order to make you pay less but gobbles it all up
gets embarrassed if u ask him if he wants anything else,,, like stop !! spending!!! money!! on! me!!!!
"haha, no, i don't wanna make you pay more... wait, where are you going?!"
he tries to tell u not to get him anything but he is a big growing boy that needs his nutrients. he gobbles up whatever you buy so you know none of it went to waste
he accepts your offers and gifts gladly, but not without hesitation!! he hates being a bother
"hah, i'm supposed to be paying for your meal.." lowkey damages his masculinity
HERO
he's also confused. why are you buying him all of this?? cookbooks??? new, fancy silverware??? paying his dogs medical bills??? what the fuck
he's actually kinda skeptical about it at first,, like what if you're breaking up w him?? are you trying to soften him up so you can backstab him?????
but he realizes that's stupid and awkwardly accepts anything u do/give him. he gets all blushy about it and starts stuttering though
he spoils you back. to an extent because your family is richer n all that, but he still tries to spoil you by getting you gifts and flowers and chocolates and stuff you like/need
it's weird to him because he's usually the spoiler/gentleman in the relationship,, so he's lowkey swept off his feet
he would've done that for you anyway, but now he has to do it extra so it isn't unfair!!! he feels like he's taking advantage of you or something
MARI
she always denies everything u do/get for her,, but she'll eventually accept it and kiss you on the cheek as a thanks
like SUNNY she doesn't think she deserves that kind of treatment,, you shouldn't be wasting your money so fast like that!!
she does love the romantic aspect,, like if you went on a trip together all alone and romantic,, or if you show up to her house with flowers and chocolates and... is that a diamond ring?
it gets her all blushy but she tries to hide it by being devious and teasing u,, then she goes home and goes crazy over you in her room
"oh? is this for me?? why, if i didn't know better i'd say you're in love!"
teases to cover up the fact that she's embarrassed as fuck
BASIL
he's constantly telling you not to spend any money on him
he tries to spoil you back by giving you home-planted flowers and drawings and pictures, but he never feels like it's enough
"really, you shouldn't be spending this much money.."
makes him super flushed if u show up with something he said he wanted,, he didn't mean for you to actually go out and buy it!!!
always insists that he pays for dinner. always
gives u lots of hand crafted things and drawings,, he really hopes you think it's the thought that counts
cherishes everything u give him,, new garden shears? he's going to use these the rest of his life
if u two go on a trip he takes lots of photos of you and the scenery, and has an entire album dedicated to you

Charlie: Oh nothing, I just wanted to hold hands.
Tori: I was just having a bad day.
Charlie: You threatened to decapitate a man over a parking space.
Tori: A very bad day.
Darcy: You can de-escalate any tense situation by saying 'Are we about to kiss?'
Darcy: It doesn't work on cops though.
Darcy: I’m invoking the “no judgments” clause of our relationship.
Tara: Oh God, what did you do this time?
Harry: So Nick, are you hanging out with us tonight?
Nick: Sorry guys, I can't. Charlie and I have plans.
Harry: Oh come on! Bros before ho-

Charlie: How many times have I told you not to bring wild animals into our apartment?!
Nick: ...None?
Charlie: I shouldn't have to tell you!
Elle: You can't rush perfection.
Tao: I'm not rushing perfection, I'm rushing you.
Darcy: I have good news and bad news.
Tara: What's the bad news?
Darcy: The kangaroo pooped in the shower.
Tara: We don't have a kangaroo.
Darcy: Well, that takes me to the good news.
Nick: I wasn't that drunk last night.
Charlie: You kept flirting with me.
Nick: So?
Charlie: You asked if I was single. And cried when I said no.
Charlie: Hey sweetie, why are you crying?
Nick: It's just so beautiful how much they love each other!
Charlie: ...This is a commercial.
Charlie: For detergent.
Darcy: Do you think if skeletons were real boner would be a slur for them?
Elle: ....skeletons are real.
Darcy: That's the spirit, Elle. They're real for me too.
Elle: You're the most jealous guy I know!
Tao: You know other guys? Who are they?
Nick: I know I've been talking about him all morning, but another thing that I love about Charlie is that he just gets me.
Tao: Can he come get you right now?

"Oh fuck yeah!"
"Birdie!"
My face tints a rose-like pink, burning at my cheeks as I scold my sister with wide eyes. She is happy today, and that's rare for us. Regardless, happy or not, her sailor's mouth never fails to mortify me. The patrons of this syrup scented diner stare for a moment, but return to their meal soon enough.
Birdie is fourteen today, and her eyes are eager and swimming with starvation as she inhales the powdered sugar air. I can't really afford this, not right now at least. Probably not tomorrow either, but today is her birthday. She'll only be fourteen once and- mom would have done the same thing. In fact, mom did do the same thing. Many times for me. When I turned twelve, we snuck into a cake shop and ate each sugared treat cased in glass displays. That was my favorite birthday.
I am not brave enough or- stupid enough to steal from anyone else. I have done enough of that this week.
"Dude, they have french toast coated in chocolate syrup."
Birdie is drooling now, I smile at her.
"Whatever you want, Birdie."
It's sad, how this is like Christmas for her. A warm meal at a shitty Mystic Falls Diner for the big one four. I will do more, soon. This however, it will be dealt with if I just take over Riley's night shift at the Grille- she won't mind the time off anyways.
The waitress is a strawberry blonde, her legs seem to go for miles. Her eyes are a pretty blue and her smile is tinted pink. Birdie wastes no time.
"Chocolate syrup french toast please! Heavy emphasis on the chocolate syrup... Ooh! And a stack of four pumpkin pancakes with whipped cream and lots of bacon and eggs on the side. Some orange juice too."
The waitress stifles her grin as she jots Birdie's order down on yellow pad paper.
"And for you?"
Birdie looks at me hopefully. I gaze into her eyes for a moment and pretend that my next words will be a request of pumpkin pancakes too.
"Oh that's everything, I'm not hungry."
Guilt floods them,
"I can hold off on the pump-"
"No Birdie, really I am not hungry."
I'm starving. My stomach growls in protest, luckily quiet enough for only me to hear. Birdie believes me, at least I hope she does as she sinks back into the booth.
The waitress smiles sympathetically, nodding once before scurrying off.
Birdie is impatient, drumming her fingers on the cherry wood as we wait. It isn't just the food she's impatient for. She groans.
"Ahhh- apple! C'mon- can't we just take a two second peek at what's in the big dumb thing?"
My brows twitch in discomfort and urgency, and I lift my finger to hush her. Maybe what that man said was all just to scare me, maybe he thought it was funny. It is the month of halloween after all, I have learned in my years here how serious all of Mystic Falls takes it. Still, I don't wan't to take any chances.
I shake my head at her,
"No. Not happening. That dude told us to keep this locked tight under all circumstances."
Birdie only rolls her eyes at that,
"Pfft. That guy was probably just trying to scare us. Ooh! I bet its drugs, or illegal weapons! Or illegal drug weapons!"
I shush her again.
"It doesn't matter what it is, it's not ours. I'm not opening it. I need it safe till midnight, till I get the payout and we get the hell out of Mystic Falls."
Birdie frowns, eyes gazing at the lonely jack-o-lantern glowing golden on the concrete outside.
"You think all that money is gonna buy us real fancy meds for dad? Like ones that'll get him better quickly?"
I wince at the question, I want to say yes but I truthfully don't know. He's worsened this month, I only hope these days. So does Birdie. It's her birthday, I can't make her sad.
"I'm sure we'll figure it out, we always do. Dad's gonna be fine. We're gonna have lots of money, money for medicine and money for unlimited pumpkin pancakes until you're at least forty three."
Birdie nods in agreement with that statement, "fuck yeah." she whispers. She tries to keep it discreet but, I hear it anyways. I ignore it.
The strawberry blonde waitress returns, juggling Birdie's food on a golden arm. She places four plates down in front of my lanky sister, her eyes light up like a million fireworks have ignited within them.
"Brought you a coffee pot sugar, its on the house."
The waitress, Karen, she smiles softly and it's warm like the coffee pot. She throws pink packets of sugar and small cups of cream in front of me. It'll keep me awake, I'm grateful. I thank her as I pour the bitter drink into the mug and breathe in the aroma.
Birdie is devouring her food as if it will up and leave her.
"My my, all this food. Today a special occasion?" Karen inquires, I nod with a warm grin.
"It's her birthday."
Karen gasps, "A birthday!? Well how old are you sweetheart? Old enough to pay the bill?" She jests.
Birdie shakes her head, teeth crushing a mixture of chocolate whipped pumpkin toast topped with bacon and egg. Whatever she could fit in her mouth. "Nope. Fourteen." She speaks muffled with a mouth full of food- her words are hardly audible, masked by her chewing. I repeat it to the waitress.
"Well then, a birthday calls for a special treat don't it? I'll go get one."
I nod gratefully, "Thanks. Hey um- do you guys have a bathroom?"
She points to the right and I slide out of the booth-gripping the white oak case in my hands. I'll bring it with me. I would be a fool to lose it, let alone leave it with my very occupied sister. I almost don't believe it's anything of importance, probably just some cruel prank. My intuition reminds me just how too good to be true it sounds. Yet, I am hopeful this month. So I'm playing along anyways.
My eyes are glued to the case as I walk right, so much so that I don't see the polished boots in front of me. I gasp, accepting the fate of the floor before it even greets me. We never meet. I clutch on to the fabric smelling of maple and bourbon. It tethers me, lifting me to my feet.
It is silent, I meet ice blue eyes.
Christ...
They bore past my very being, into something I don't even see myself. My soul, maybe. He is tall, tall enough that it makes me feel quite small. He has golden brown hair that curls at the tips, and golden brown stubble that surrounds pink lips. His eyes, they're all I see.
I stumble, he steadies me again with two strong hands.
"Holy shit!" Birdie calls, maybe amused- maybe relieved. She saw that, everyone saw that. My cheeks are pink again, as are the tips of my ears. The man's eyes wander around us, and it seems like that is enough for everyone. They all mind their business and return to their meals. As if he just cast a spell to detour their gazes.
His hands still grasp me as his eyes devour my composure.
"Are you all right?" His voice is like honey, stuck in a glass pot but glazing sweetness dripping from the very lid. It is deep, accented. He isn't from here.
I can't speak, I feel like I am crushed under his boot, the same one I tripped over. I only nod.
He releases me, slowly.
His eyes remain on mine, until they don't. He peers at the white oak case with an expression I cannot begin to describe. I watch him for a moment, analyzing. Fear strums at my core... its familiarity- I think. Or maybe I am just paranoid. I gulp, bending down to collect the case in my hands in an instant before he gets the chance to. I gaze at it, praying my fall didn't disrupt whatever lay inside.
He gazes at it too.
I have to speak now, otherwise I will be stuck frozen here.
"I apologize I um- I should have been paying more attention."
He doesn't tear his gaze away from the case. Not at first, for a moment that seems far too long for me to stomach. He breaks, eventually and a part of me is relieved but it seems a bigger part of me wishes he would just return his stare toward the case again. His eyes feel like they're burning through me. Like as if I try and speak again, my voice will falter to nothingness.
"You're alright, sweetheart. On you go."
Sweetheart. It calms the nerves. I nod gratefully, but his eyes returning to what is grasped in my hands just reminds me of why exactly I should be stepping rather than shaking. A gulp, then I am on my way, feet clashing against the noir tiles. Birdie is accompanied by the waitress, I catch glimpse in a napkin holder and sigh in relief as I push through the faded blue door.
I am eager to release the case from my burning hands, I was gripping it tight enough to callous my reddened palms. I throw it on the ceramic sink as the faucet squeaks, my trembling hands splash my pink face with warm water. I heat even more.
The mirror greets my pallid features, sunken in with exhaustion and hunger. It also meets my eyes, swimming with a melting pot of emotions. My breaths are shallow and labored, and my heart is pounding on its cages.
I splash my face again and yet? I cannot shake the feeling that this won't be the last time I see that man again...

OC Interview
I was tagged by @ouroboros-hideout to do this interview for the Notorious BGB. Due to her secretive nature and general paranoia, she's not inclined to answer certain questions, so there will be some commentary.
Tumblr media
Name?
"Who's askin' and why?"
*Legally named Baby Girl Benítez, BGB has guarded this embarrassing secret by using over 20 different aliases via forged documents. Only 3 people in the NC area know her real name.
Nickname?
"Again, depends on who's askin'. I go by 'V' in Night City. ...Why? Pfff, I'unno. Sounded cool, I guess."
*It's taken from one of her earliest aliases, Verónica.
Gender?
"None of your biz."
*Female; She/They
Star Sign?
"Scorpio."
Height?
"Again, why are you askin'? You FIA or somethin'?"
*She is 5'5.
Orientation?
"I know what I like when I see it and that ain't nobody's biz but mine."
*A true bisexual disaster.
Nationality/Ethnicity?
"See, now I KNOW you're FIA. Well, you can go and tell Rosalind that we are done, that it was nice getting to play James Bond but ain't no way in hell I'm joining her gonk lil'—... Oh, you're just trying to get to know me? *sigh* Fuck, choom... Sorry, I've had a weird coupl'a years. I'm workin' on it. Can we start over?"
*A stateless nomad via the Blood Nation's Gargoyles pack; Afro-Latina of Puerto Rican and Haitian descent.
Fave Fruit?
"Haven't had real fruit in forever. Closest I've had in years have been those Leeloo Beans. But, I'm gonna say mango. Yeah. Reminds me of my old family."
Fave Season?
"That's a hard one. Kinda like and hate somethin' about each of 'em."
Fave Flower?
"Plants aren't really my area of expertise, but there's something about wildflowers I really like. Remember growin' up, the fam was on this maglev construction gig down I-40. Late summer, just barely early fall. And there's nothin' but this vast stretch of highway for miles and miles, and ghost towns that got wiped by the wasting epidemic. But there were these little red and yellow flowers, just dotting the sun-scorched grass. Never knew what kind they were, but through all thst decay and destruction I remember thinkin' they were the prettiest flowers I'd ever seen."
Fave Scent?
"Coffee in the morning. Grapefruit rinds. A nice cologne. I love that shit. Just a splash though. I had... let's say, an 'ex' who I swear would marinate in it. That's not why they're an ex, but... yeah, didn't really help their case."
Coffee, Tea, or Hot Chocolate?
"Depends on what time of day it is and what I'm doing. Coffee in the morning without a doubt. With the sock method, café cola'o like my abuela used to do it, of course. If it's the afternoon, I like a nice cup of Oolong. And for cold nights, hot chocolate. Spiked with spiced rum."
Average Hours of Sleep?
*The "sock method refers to a cloth mesh filter attached to a round wire frame with a handle. It's reusable but winds up looking like a dirty sock, hence the nickname "la media" (P.R. Spanish for "the sock/stocking") No actual socks are involved.
"Again with the weird questions. What are ya, my ripperdoc? ...You sure you're not FIA?"
*Averages about 6 hours of sleep.
Dog or Cat Person?
"Don't really have a preference. They're both great. Cats are great to chill on the couch with and dogs are fun to take on roadtrips. But I guess if you get an RV, you can do both."
Dream Trip?
"I'unno. Spent so much of my life traveling and moving that taking a trip doesn't seem as exciting to me. The Crystal Palace seems interesting, but is it enough to make me get on a tin can of a shuttle?"
Number of Blankets?
"If it's hot, then just a flat sheet with no blanket. If it's cold enough, then two. A knit one and a fleece one."
Random Fact?
"I fell off the scoop bucket of an excavator when I was 9. It was afterhours on the site and I got bored. Anyway, wound up shattering my left arm. Still kinda aches when it rains."

I just finished pen15 and I have so many thoughts that I'll never be able to articulate. Out of all these thoughts, one stands out the most. It's a memory I have that reminds me of the show.
When I was thirteen, my family and I took a trip to the states and I had to share a bed with my siblings. It was the first time in a long time where I was sleeping in a bed that wasn't mine and I was having a hard time falling asleep. As the night progressed and I still couldn't fall asleep, I crept out of my hotel room and down to the snack machines. My dad had given me a couple of dollar bills to spend, so like any 13 yr old, I wanted a chocolate bar in the middle of the night.
As I crossed the main lobby of the hotel, I spotted a girl around my age sitting on one of the lounge sofas. She had a book she was flipping through in her hands and as I crossed her, she looked up at me. We only made eye contact for a moment but she raised one of her hands and waved at me. She was clutching an OhHenry bar. The same chocolate bar I wanted. I wave back but continue walking towards the snack machines. I had been so concerned with getting that chocolate bar. I inserted my money and punched in the numbers for the OhHenry bar, all the while thinking of that girl.
We were nothing alike. We certainly didn't look anything alike and she seemed much more mature for her age. The only thing that brought us together was the fact that we both had cravings for OhHenry bars in the middle of the night. As I passed the same sofa, the girl was gone but her wrapper remained on the sofa. I never saw her again, but I'll remember her smile for the rest of my life. I felt connected to this girl and we never even spoke.
That's what it's like being a young girl. It's the feeling you get when you see another girl your age and your heart fills with happiness and sorrow. You're both glad there's someone else going through the same thing you're going through, and also sad for the same reason. It's the feeling you get when you know something is wrong with your best friend, even though no one else believes you. It's the feeling you get when you look across the room and make a face at your friend, and they instantly understand what you mean. It's the feeling of holding each other close and promising you'll stay together through thick and thin and then breaking that promise when you go to high school.
Pen15 perfectly encapsulates these feelings. This show is so worth the watch, especially if you're a girl. Now, in my twenties, and looking back on my life especially through the lens of Pen15, I realize how much time I wasted on wanting to be beautiful. I so desperately wanted to be kissed but also shyed away from any boy's attention. Pen15 perfectly encapsulates this fear of growing older and still wanting to be taken seriously. Thank you Anna and Maya for this show, I know I'm gonna rewatch it forever. And maybe in thirty years, I'll cringe in new ways and laugh at my 20 yr old self who thought she knew everything.

❝ I have faith in you! ❞
❝ You can do it! ❞
❝ Aww, don't give up! ❞
❝ You'll get it eventually. ❞
❝ Is this your first time playing a video game? ❞
❝ Keep up the good work, sport! ❞
❝ Awww! It's so cute when kids try to play games! ❞
❝ Wow! What a moron. ❞
❝ You suck! ❞
❝ You still suck! ❞
❝ Aww, I'm laughing at you, not with you. ❞
❝ Um, learn to play? ❞
❝ Ha! Poser! ❞
❝ Get some skills and call me in the morning. ❞
❝ Dumbass. ❞
❝ I'm losing patience with you! ❞
❝ This is your last chance! ❞
❝ I'm gonna kill you!! ❞
❝ Didn't your mommy ever tell you that you can't kill a rainbow? ❞
❝ The next time you see a rainbow in the sky, that is ME, coming to your house! ❞
❝ What's this, a space shooter? ❞
❝ Holy crap! Is that my voice!? ❞
❝ Sorry I'm late for the party. Fashionably late, of course! ❞
❝ Do a barrel roll! ...Sorry, I'm not sure what came over me. ❞
❝ You won't get tired of my voice, will you? ❞
❝ At least I went down in a blaze of glory! ❞
❝ You haven't seen the last of me! ❞
❝ ...Well, actually, yes, this is the last you'll see of me. ❞
FNAF VR // CURSE OF DREADBEAR
❝ Now, let's get to work. ❞
❝ Well done. ❞
❝ Let's see how you did. ❞
❝ Perhaps the instructions were not clear. ❞
❝ Perhaps you should seek employment elsewhere. ❞
❝ Good enough. ❞
❝ Animatronic engineering is just that simple. ❞
❝ The real treasure was friendship all along! ❞
❝ Happy birthday! ❞
❝ Today we are using science to pervert the mysteries of life and re-animate the inanimate. ❞
❝ It's customary to give a melodramatic speech. ❞
❝ Go on, I'll wait. ❞
❝ I made it myself. ❞
❝ No one suspects anything. ❞
❝ Don't worry, I'll be ready, and I won't let you down. ❞
❝ It will be fun. ❞

where the love light gleams
it's christmas eve. it's late. and etho still isn't here.
a gift fic for leaf anon 🍂 happy birthday, and thank you for everything <3
words: 1773 pairing: ethubs ao3 link: (x)
It's late.
He should go to sleep, or lay in bed, or... do something.
Anything.
Anything other than sitting in this damn living room waiting for something he knows will never come.
Bdubs sighs, downing the dregs of his coffee and making a face at the bitter taste. It's hard not to be bitter himself, but... he's the one that gave himself the expectations. Can he blame anyone else?
Yes. He promised.
But Bdubs asked him to.
He groans and stands up, trudging to the kitchen to— he checks his communicator. No messages.— get another cup of coffee. It's cold by now, and he'd much rather have hot chocolate, but he has to stay awake for the rest of the server and their Christmas party in Hermit Village. Scar had insisted that the decorations on his starter base had to be seen at night.
It didn't really matter to Bdubs. He was going to be up late waiting, anyway.
Waiting to inevitably be disappointed, he's sure.
Especially when it's almost midnight, and it's Christmas Eve, and Etho is going to miss it. Again.
He walks back down the stairs, glancing at the clock on the wall. 11:57 pm. Great. Grumbling to himself about no one else understanding a good sleep schedule— it's not about that, really— he pulls out his communicator and shoots a whisper to Tango.
<BdoubleO100> whispers... wrapping up soon?
Tango doesn't answer right away, which Bdubs can't really blame him for. After all, he's probably having fun with everyone else. And Bdubs isn't bitter about it. He did this to himself. Like he did last year. Like he did the year before that. Like he does every year.
The cuckoo clock goes off at midnight, and Bdubs sinks lower into his chair, glaring at the lit but undecorated tree in the corner with malice. As if it had something to do with this.
Another Christmas Eve with no Etho.
Is he even surprised?
He takes another sip of coffee, his nerves now so wrought that when he hears the door downstairs open, he finds himself more annoyed than hopeful.
"I'm not comin' to that stupid party, Tango!"
It'd been Tango that had invited him in the first place.
"Come on, Bdubs, it'll be fun!"
"Nah, it's alright. I'm fine in the Monolith! You just let me know when everyone's ready to go home, and I'll sleep so everyone gets home safe. No biggie."
"You can always take care of that, y'know, at the party."
"It's fine, Tango."
"Ah. I see. You're gonna be wai—"
"I said it's fine!"
... There's no response from Tango.
"Tango?"
Nothing.
"If you're gonna make me get out of my comfy chair..." he grumbles to himself, moving to get up anyway. His feet shuffle against the ground, his slippers making a satisfyingly sleepy noise as he trudges to the stairs and down. He's not paying attention to who is actually at the door as he opens his mouth. "I told you before, I'm perfectly happy spending my night in the Monolith, alo—"
Finally, he lifts his gaze from the stairs as he rounds the corner into the main entrance.
For a few moments, he stands in shocked silence, staring at the man before him. The man before him who is covered in snow and looks increasingly apologetic the longer Bdubs says nothing. And then, simultaneously,
"Etho—" "Bdubs—"
A pause.
"Where have you been!?" "I'm so sorry!"
Bdubs wastes no time rushing down the final two steps to throw himself at Etho— his Etho— wrapping his arms tight around his snowy shoulders. Etho hesitates for a moment in shock before finally relaxing into the embrace and wrapping his arms around Bdubs in reply.
"Bdubs, you're gonna get covered in snow."
"Shut up! You're late!"
Etho winces, and the pair withdraw enough that they can meet one another's eyes while still having their arms around one another. Etho glances to the side, his guilt clear even in the half of his expression Bdubs can see over the mask.
"I'm sorry, Dubs, really. I was on my way when the blizzard rolled in, and my communicator died, and I... I forgot that you keep it nighttime for the party, so there were mobs when I got grounded. I..." He fades off, his gaze still cast to the side.
Bdubs sighs and shakes his head. "You're an idiot."
"Hey!" Etho starts, his eyes snapping back to Bdubs', where he is met with affection.
"Keep your damn communicator charged! I thought you'd—" He huffs, wilting a little.
Etho tugs him a little closer, pressing their foreheads together. "Nah... I promised."
A huff from Bdubs. "You still broke it," he grumbles. "It's past midnight, it's not Christmas Eve anymore."
Another grimace tugs at Etho's face. "I know..." He sighs softly. "Any way the time king can let the extra minutes slide?"
There's a few moments of silence as Bdubs considers, before he rolls his eyes. "Yeah, yeah, alright." A smile plays on his lips. "But just this once!"
Etho chuckles and pulls away. "Alright, lemme get this coat off. I don't need you shouting at me about tracking melting snow all over your Monolith."
Bdubs waves him off, despite knowing that's exactly what he'd do if Etho took one step into the Monolith proper like that.
The coat is hung on the rack, Bdubs brushes the snow off himself, and fingers are interlaced as Bdubs starts to drag Etho up the stairs.
"You got any hot chocolate?"
Bdubs shoots a glare back at him. "Do I have hot chocolate— is that even a question!? Of course I have hot chocolate! It's winter, and I run a coffee shop!" He huffs and mutters under his breath, "Do I have hot chocolate..."
Etho is laughing, squeaking a little between beats. It draws a warm blush to Bdubs' cheeks. He's missed that sound far too much. His grip on Etho's hand tightens just so as they approach the living room.
As they enter, Etho casts his gaze about, taking in any changes from the last time he was here. Really, it's not much. Just the undecorated tree, and a couple exchanged paintings. All in all, it's... fairly underwhelming. Not at all expected of the man who built the Crastle.
"What, Bdubs, your tree isn't even decorated?"
Bdubs is quiet as Etho drops his hand and walks around the room.
"No Christmas music playing, no lights hung up outside..."
"Yeah, well if you're lookin' for mistletoe, you ain't gonna find that neither!" He crosses his arms, not too fond of Etho's critiques considering— Well. Considering he'd been saving the tree decorating for when Etho was here.
Etho's brow raises at Bdubs' pointed words, and he crosses the room to stand in front of Bdubs. "Do I need mistletoe?" Bdubs can hear the bastard's smile beneath his mask.
His breath hitches anyway, eyes widening as Etho reaches a hand up to the edge of his mask, waiting for Bdubs' response.
"Awfully presumptuous," Bdubs mumbles, not wanting to give in just yet. ...Wanting to give in very badly, but not letting himself, more like it.
"Bdubs..." He tugs at his mask a little more.
"Oh, just come here!"
Etho laughs and pulls down his mask and... yeah. There's the face Bdubs has missed so desperately. His eyes trace the scar down Etho's face over his lips, lingering for a moment before tilting his head up to meet them with his own. Soft... pleading... His eyes squeeze shut as Etho returns the kiss, relishing each second he has within this moment. Relishing each iota of time with Etho here.
When the kiss is broken, Bdubs finds his hands on Etho's chest, gripping lightly at his shirt. He pouts a little, but his voice is quiet and sincere as he speaks.
"I was waiting for you to get here so we could decorate together..." He refuses to meet Etho's gaze.
"Aw, Bdubs..." Etho puts his hands over Bdubs'. "I'm here now."
"It's too late to decorate anything outside." Bdubs peers up at Etho. "And the ornaments are all the way down in the basement, and—"
"Well, why don't we leave all that for tomorrow, then?"
"Tomorrow's Christmas."
"You built Horse Course in like. A day."
"Well, I am a master builder, after all."
"Uh huh."
Etho gives Bdubs' hands a squeeze before removing them from his chest and withdrawing, making his way over to a jukebox. "There is one thing we can fix tonight, though." He starts rifling through the barrels nearby, searching for whichever one stores the music discs. "Ah, here we go." The record is placed, the needle moved to the proper position, the music set to start.
First the speakers crackle with the few rotations of silence, giving Etho time to return to Bdubs' side. Etho interlaces a hand with one of Bdubs' while his other finds a home on Bdubs' waist, all the while leaving Bdubs gazing up at him with intense affection. He rolls his eyes with a smile as Etho closes the distance between them, the music starting to fill the room.
"A dance?" Bdubs asks, with only a little bit of incredulity in his tone.
"Well we have to dance on Christmas Eve, Bdubs! Tradition!" He starts to sway with his partner, small steps leading the other.
Bdubs can't help but let out a warm laugh, finally letting his irritation melt away as Etho tugs him along. The song is smooth and melodic at first, letting them cherish their shared space. Bdubs presses close to Etho's chest and Etho wraps his arm more securely around Bdubs' torso. It's all too easy to fall back into their old traditions from years ago, before things got so... Bdubs pushes the thoughts out of his mind, letting himself lean against his partner and simply enjoy the simplicity of the moment.
As the song swells, Etho withdraws to spin Bdubs, who laughs while Etho grins at him. And then it's back to being held close, the scent of jungle grass and sharp snow filling Bdubs' senses. It's nice, Bdubs thinks. Having him here. It's nice, the way they look at each other with adoration as they skill-lessly slow dance through the living room. It's nice, the way Bdubs will stay up to watch the snow tonight, and know he won't be alone.
The other Hermits enjoy their party, chatting and eating and drinking beneath Scar's elven tree. One might not even notice amidst the grandeur that warm light pools in one of the Monolith windows, silhouetting a dancing pair, reunited— even if late— just as promised.

The sound of a thunderclap spells doom for Draken. He looks up at the sky from the windowpane of his shop and grunts, scowling at the fat raindrops crashing down on the sidewalk.
"I'm gonna pack up a little early," Inupi notes, switching the "open" sign off and taking out his keys. "Do you have any plans with y/n?"
"I did," Draken admits, wiping his grimy fingers onto the towel around his neck. "But now it's raining."
"What'd you have to do?" Inupi asks innocently while lowering the metal gates. "Can't be much; tonight's..."
"Flowers." Draken ticks off his fingers one by one. "A candle, nice chocolates..."
"The works," Inupi replies, grinning. "So, what's stopping you?"
"I don't have a rain jacket." Inupi wastes no time grabbing the slicker by the front door and tossing it to Draken.
"I'll shut the place down tonight. Good luck!"
"Don't you have someone for Valentine's Day?"
"Nah," Inupi laughs. "Not making a big deal out of today anyway."
Draken takes his leave, hurrying out into the rain to grab the final items he needs to make the night special. Sure, there were little things he could do instead of flowers - like a card or some small trinket - but that wasn't what he really wanted. He wanted you to feel special, like all the other girls with boyfriends who got their things on time.
Draken arrives at the florist just before closing, bursting into the shop with little decorum.
"Last minute purchase?" the lady behind the counter wonders, her eyes old and wise behind large glasses.
"Sort of," Draken blurts. "I'm going to need something big."
"It'll cost you a little extra." Draken nods, pulling out his wallet.
"Name your price."
Fifteen minutes later and fifty dollars lighter, Draken walks out of the store with his loot secured under mounds of paper. It's honestly a bouquet befitting a bride, but Draken doesn't think twice about the size. He dashes through the rain once more to climb a flight of stairs and bang on the bohemian-style store with his fist.
The young man looks up from his cash register, bills already counted and laid out for collection.
"We're closed," the man shouts through the door, but Draken keeps pounding on the glass with fervor. "Go away!"
"I need a candle!" The man shakes his head as he counts the coins, placing them neatly in a stack. "You've got to help me!" The man flips Draken off, pushing the spare coins into the bag while moving away from the door and down a hallway. Draken huffs a deep breath, then yanks twice more on the door handle before stepping back from the shop. "You wouldn't do this if you knew who I was."
A head peeks out from the back room, and a pretty face turns his way. "Kenny?" The voice of a girl he used to know comes through the glass, and she makes her way toward the door, a smile painted on her face. It's one of the girls from the brothel, he realizes, and before long, the door is opened to him.
"Kenny, what are you doing here?" Draken grins, pushing back his hood and exposing his head to the rain.
"Getting my girl something nice," he admits, and the girl smirks.
"Finally settled down, huh?" Draken walks into the store and the former brothel employee follows him in just as the man rounds the corner.
"No one else in my shop," he announces loudly, but the woman overtakes Draken and puts her hand on the man's chest.
"This is a friend of mine. Stop being a dick, Tian."
Once the candle is secured, Draken has one last place to go: a place that's open later than most.
"Tell me you love me, Ken-chin," Mikey chides, holding the box of chocolates far away from Draken. "And I'll hand them over."
"I love you," Draken mutters. "Now, give them--"
"Say it like you mean it," the black-haired racer hisses while squinting his eyes. Draken grumbles, rolls his eyes, and shuffles a bit, but finally relents.
"I really love you, Mikey."
"Yay! Happy Valentine's Day!" Mikey hands over the chocolates and smiles. "It's my gift to you."
"I paid you to get them."
"Tomato, potato," Mikey mutters.
Draken’s finally done. He runs out into the street and retraces his steps back home, hoping you hadn’t been waiting too long when he opens the door, arms full of gifts.
“Happy Valentine’s… day…”
You’re dead asleep on the couch, cuddled up with one of Draken’s shirts. At first, his heart drops when he realizes you’d been missing him, but then he recovers, shuts the door, and begins to place the items he bought in their proper spots. Once he’s done his duty, he scoops you up into his arms with a grunt and carries you to the bedroom, cradling your head against his chest.
“I missed out this time,” he murmurs while pulling the blankets over you. “Didn’t I?”
“Not really,” you answer groggily, holding his hand as you awaken from your sleep a little. “You’re right on time.”
“Don’t you want to see the things I got you?”
"Not as much as I want to see you," you reply, pulling Draken into bed. "You've had a long day. Just relax with me."
And for the first time that night, Draken stops his hurrying and lays in bed with you, letting the events of the day fade into memory.

[Translation] Spider / Gratitude 2
The next day
Kohaku: Yaa~aawn....
Tumblr media
Kohaku: (Nn~....I think I overslept because I was exhausted. Well, I've got work in the evening anyways so there's no issue there, but if I'm waking up in the afternoon it feels like I've lost money*. The day of the costume fitting is finally here at last...I wonder what kind of costume it's gonna be.)
Tumblr media
Kohaku: (If it's possible at all I really want it to be something popular with kids instead of horrifying...No way. That would totally be wrong...wouldn't we definitely just become the number one kind of idols people wouldn't want their kids to meet?)
Kohaku: Nn? My stomach is rumbling. It's noon already. And I really am hungry....I went to see if I could grab a bit from the kitchen since I was too lazy to go out and buy groceries, but...Nn? What smells sweet?
Tumblr media
Niki: ~........
Kohaku: I thought I caught a whiff of something sweet, turns out it's just Niki-han? Are you cooking something up again?
Niki: Ah! Kohaku-chan, good morning! You're right. What I'm making now is a prototype batch of Halloween cookies. There's plenty, Kohaku-chan, so you can eat some too.
Kohaku: Halloween cookies? Ah, that's true. There's a bunch of cookies that have shapes of bats, pumpkins, and ghosts. I'll gladly take some since I'm so hungry. Thanks~ Nn! They're so good. As expected of you, Niki-han. Still, even though I'm the one that got something good out of this, why don't you make all these prototypes on the day of production instead of going through all this trouble now? Niki-han, you're too stoic when it comes to cooking.
Niki: Ah, these all aren't for me. I mentioned how "Cinnamon"s manager was super thrilled about the Halloween event, didn't I~? At "Cinnamon" I was really excited to sell gift batches of cookies on that same day. That's why we're making a bunch of prototypes.
Kohaku: Fuu~n. I get it now. I've been wondering about it for a while, Niki-han, but you really look like you love Halloween. I can tell you're enjoying yourself.
Niki: That's right! When "Trick or Treat" is all you have to say and you get a load of goodies from everyone around, it's like a dream! It could be Halloween everyday.
Kohaku: Yikes. I hope the end is soon....I'll never live a day of peace. Nn? I had no idea that they wrapped up Halloween candy all cute-like. Using scary motifs or black and orange colors would make it more Halloween-like, wouldn't it?
Niki: You're not wrong~, but I've heard Halloween has been changing more and more lately.
Kohaku: Changing...?
Niki: The whole idea of Halloween used to be "giving out candy in exchange for not getting pranked", but now it's more like more people want to "give sweets to the ones who've taken good care of them". Like you know how Valentine's Day got more popular and you could give your friends chocolate? It looks like Halloween is becoming more like that, where you're simply all having fun together. So that's why, in order for it to be useful as a gift, I'm using the cute wrapping.
Tumblr media
Kohaku: Fuu~n. Is it really popular to do something like that nowadays?…"To the ones who've taken good care of them".....huh....
Tumblr media
Flashback Jun: "I need to remember to stay grateful for those around me."
Kohaku: ......
Kohaku: Hey, Niki-han. Those cookies, I want to bake them too. Can you teach me how?
Niki: Eh? I don't mind that but...that's odd. If you say so Kohaku-chan. But does that mean there's someone you want to gift these cookies to?
Kohaku: --Well, basically. I know it's unusual.
Niki: Ehhh~? That's not truuuuue. I'm happy if I can cook with someone since it's fun. We've got plenty of wrapping paper, so let's make something that you'll like together.
Kohaku: Right. I'm in your care, Niki-han.
(*): Most likely going off the phrase "time is money". He feels like he's wasted time by sleeping in so that's why he thinks he feels he's lost money.
