#GOOD LOKING+!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Your plan was quick and simple. You would go to the kitchen, make some tea to ease your headache, and then return to your comfy bed. You weren't expecting to come across your crew's blonde cook barechested cutting carrots.

You are used to this. The utterly exhausted sensation after several hand-to-hand combats, so when the headache started when you finally lay down in bed, you just decided to ignore it; the sleep would catch up before it got.
Until the needed sleep never got you. So, after an hour or two of rubbing your temples and staring at the ceiling while feeling envy-induced annoyance for Nami’s peaceful breathing, you pushed yourself to stand up.
Even if the cool night air almost makes you wish you hadn't left your warm bed, you needed that green tea to stop the pounding headache in the back of your head. The kitchen lights shining through the window went undetected as your mind was busy figuring out how you could prepare the drink quickly so that the pain could cease as soon as possible.
“Oh, it’s you, darling. Is everything alright?” As you walked into the door and recognized Sanji's words, you snapped out of your thoughts and began to look over your surroundings. He was not wearing any type of shirt while he sliced carrots from behind the counter.
Barechested. Topless. Half naked.
“Y-yes, I mean, no. Just a headache.” You gaze the blonde in the eyes as you stumble through your sentences, you are merely vaguely aware that your face is beginning to turn red. “I just want that green tea; I know it's somewhere around here. I saw Nami storing it in the cabinets earlier.”
You felt foolish. You became used to seeing shirtless men given that you lived in the middle of the ocean and therefore often came across Luffy, Usopp, and even Zoro barechested. They would often walk around the deck that way on hot days. Sanji, however, always showed up in a suit or, at the very least, had a formal shirt rolled up to his elbows. Even so, there was no chance of seeing him dressed otherwise since he went to sleep after you and woke up before everyone.
“I can do it for you; it’s my job after all, taking care of my sweet girl.” He placed the knife down, threw the chopped carrots in a nearby pot, and proceeded to go through the cupboards. “Love, do you remember where she stored it? There are plenty of cabinets in this place.”
"What are you doing here?" You instantly regret your tone as you noted Sanji just froze in his search.
“I mean, sorry, the kitchen is your place, I know. I just never saw you here this hour, and me and Luffy go here to do midnight snacks sometimes”
“I could not sleep”
“Me too” Once again, an irrational remark. He was informed that you were having trouble falling asleep; that's why you were there. “Why the carrots?”
“The attack that happened today. I had hoped for more food, but I believe you are aware of how fucked our situation is.” He continued looking for the tea while chuckling flatly. “We don't know when we will receive more supplies; we right now have barely anything stocked. Even the carrot peels have been put to use in an effort to reduce waste, you know.”
You weren't sure how to respond. It was clear that everyone's mood was negatively affected by today's incident. The worry of what would happen in the next few days or weeks was filling your head since Usopp managed to escape the ship. His back was to you, so you were unable to see his facial expressions, but you couldn't help but notice his muscles.
You felt a little guilty since you couldn't take your focus away from it, despite him having just voiced some serious concern. Has he lately started working out, or has he always had muscles like that?
“Are you and Luffy close then?”
The sudden break in silence confused you as he turned toward you with the pot of tea in his hands and a pleased smile.
“I suppose so. After all, he was the one who invited me to join the crew, right?” You smirked at the thought. It wasn't much time—perhaps a few months—and you were losing track of time at sea. “I fearlessly agreed to become a pirate, although I had never spent more than two weeks on a boat.”
“I remember that. You were so naive”
Of course he remembers. When you joined the crew, it was very easy to have a conversation with Sanji; he was constantly complimenting you or flirting in a straightforward manner. You never took him seriously, hearing about the blonde's techniques from Nami from the first day, but it was often hard not to chuckle or blush when he was so…
“Not anymore.”
He grinned at you before returning his attention to the tea. It was impossible to look away from his bare chest. You were unable to rest your mind from imagining how his skin would feel on your hand now that he was in your line of sight. You are already aware that he's a good-looking man, but now seeing more of his body did things to you.
“All right, madam. Here is your tea.” He circles the counters until he's right next to you. Really close. His eyes twinkle with recklessness, and you know he caught you staring at his figure.
You ignore the tickle in your lower belly as you stand there, grab the mug in your hands, and sip while gazing at his face. He still has that typical smirk, and when you finally finish drinking your tea, he glances at your lips before returning to your eyes. Everything becomes fuzzy and hot then.
He's very close. His hand has been lying on the counter, his chest is nearly brushing your own, and you can't help but notice his modest, almost transparent blonde hair in there. Perhaps it's a sign for you to walk away, that this is going in a dangerous direction, but you can't.
“What dear? See something you lik-”
You interrupt him with a kiss; it's all very messy and quick, and he is unable to have time to handle everything. You come to an abrupt halt and stare at him with wide eyes, realizing what you have done.
“Sanji, fuck, I’m so sorry, I didn’t meant t-”
He didn't let you finish the apologies. His hand pulls your head back, bringing your lips together. The kiss looks right now. It begins carefully, with both sides cautious, but it quickly gets heated as he doesn't hesitate to push his tongue into your mouth.
You’re breathless when he finally pulls away, and his eyes are hungry. He didn't think twice before pressing his open mouth and tongue on your neck. A moan escapes from your lips.
His left hand shifts down to grab your hip, and you catch your breath. Your hands graze his nipples as you reach for his pecs, and he hisses at the fresh sensation in your throat.
“Gods Y/N, you’re going to kill me this way”
You chuckled, and he kissed you again, although this time you took charge, moving one of your hands to his blonde hair before tilting his head to grant you more access. You stop the action just to take a moment to recover and gaze into his dilated pupils. He looks so attractive like that that you can’t help but want to go down on him.
”Sanji,” You whisper breathlessly, enjoying the sensation of his name in your mouth, “let me taste you.”
He groans in response, which you take as encouragement as you lean down and proceed. You lick and kiss the trail that leads to his crotch, and he hisses softly, his abdomen tense beneath your hands and mouth. As you get down on your knees and look at his pants, you can see his erection, which seems big and marked.
You don't hesitate to pull down the waistband of his pants and boxers together, exposing his hard, leaking cock to your eyes. It's big. It's more than you expected. There's a buildup of cum at the head, and you reach forward and wrap your lips around it, licking gently just to tease.
You look up as you swirl your tongue over the tip and dip your tongue into the slit to see him biting his lower lips, his head thrown back. You wanted to see his face while sucking him. So you take him out of your mouth and cautiously wrap a hand around him, teasing him a little with your hand. Your movements are agonizingly slow as you lightly suck and lick the sensitive head until finally he looks down.
“Oh, darling, you’re so pretty like that.” Sanji whined above you, and then your mouth opened around the head of his cock, and he slid it into your mouth. “Fuck, fuck. So… so perfect.”
You can clearly see the blonde struggling to keep his composure, like how his knuckles are white while gripping the counter behind him. You relax your throat, take a long breath through your nose, and exhale slowly before swallowing him whole while gripping his inner thighs.
His penis is large, so the initial sensation isn't the most pleasant, but as he lets out a loud groan, you forget about everything. Something about hearing Sanji whine in the kitchen while you gagged on his cock made the aching between your legs unbearable.
"Oh yeah, Y/N. You are so good to me. Your mouth feels so good in me.”
You moaned softly at his words of praise, making vibrations around his penis, causing another moan from him. His left hand reached from the counter to your hair, and you didn't reject the help while bobbing your head up and down.
“My love, you are so perfec-“
A few tears occasionally escaped as you sucked him and he fucked your throat, sometimes only taking him out to run your tongue along his length. You started to see signs that he was close to cum. One of your hands left the thighs to rub his balls.
“I… I'm going to cum, Y/N, dear... I" He gives you a chance to pull away from him, but you choose to continue and accept it all. You remove the entire length of his throat and leave just the head in your mouth.
He comes soon after, with a muffled groan, while you attempt to swallow as much as you can before it gets difficult, followed by a satisfied moan coming from you.
You felt his hand leave your hair, and for two or three minutes, you just remained there. He has his head back and is trying to catch his breath while you are on your knees, glancing at his chest and the beads of sweat gathering on his neck. It’s a perfect vision, honestly. You ponder whether he would notice if you began to masturbate right then.
“Come on, madam, let me help you up.” Sanji extends his hand to support you in getting up, and once you are upright, he grabs hold of your waist to keep you close to him.
He kisses you, tasting himself in your mouth. It's slow, and you realize he's still trying to emerge from his afterglow. When he breaks the kiss, that smile returns to his face, and you peck him once more just to get rid of it.
Sanji deepened the kiss again. And fuck, what else could you do but reply in the same aggressive way?
You're hoisted up by the hands on your hips and thrown onto the counter. The blonde is now between your legs, breaking the kiss, only to go straight to that specific spot on your neck that you're almost certain will leave a mark in the morning.
“Oh- Sanji,” You try to speak breathlessly as he licks your collarbone and his fingers brush the hem of your t-shirt, “You don’t h-have to do that.”
It wasn't that you didn't want Sanji. Since you entered that kitchen and spotted him without a shirt, you wanted this. Yet, you took the decision to give him an opportunity to back out, be thankful for the blowjob, and never bring up the matter again. Him taking you would be very personal.
“Please, my love,” You can hear the yearning in his voice as he whispers in your ear. “I just want to make you feel good too.”
You nod, and he attacks your mouth once again while his hands pull the hem of your t-shirt, exposing your chest, and you can't stop yourself from moaning at being so bare to him.
He doesn't think twice about placing his mouth on your breasts as he rolls the hard bud between his teeth and tongue and gives the other one a gentle stroke with his other hand. He bites your nipple as your head is flung back, and all you can do is pray that no one hears your loud scream.
He takes his mouth from your breasts and begins a trail down your stomach, and you can't stop whining due to the lack of warm sensation from his tongue in your niples, but you quickly figure out where he's headed as he lowers himself between your thighs.
He doesn't ask for permission as he aggressively rips off your shorts and, along with them, your underwear, revealing your pussy to him. He pulled your hips closer and dragged a finger down your folds, then placed it inside his mouth.
"Oh, you're so soaking wet, just for me, hm?" You are so stunned by the sight that you hardly pay attention to what the blonde is saying. “You taste so good, my darling.”
You stand on your elbows and glance at the man who is standing in between your legs. You can't help but gasp at the taunting as he starts giving you small small bites and kisses along your inner thighs. But you want him now.
“Oh Sanji, stop teasing for fuc-“
He didn't wait for you to finish the curse word before burying his face, pushing his tongue against your wet pussy, and licking a long, temptingly slow strip through your folds until he reached your sensitive bud.
In an attempt to create more friction, you thrust your hips into his mouth, and your left hand immediately settled on his blonde hair. Sanji found the ideal pattern to swirl his tongue over your clitoral region, leaving you panting for air.
He pushed two fingers deep within you, and you felt your walls clenching around them, sucking him in. His pace was fast, and he was still paying careful attention to your clit, leaving you close to the edge. You were a mess, and it wouldn't take long for you to cum. Yet you still needed him; you wanted more.
You sucked in a sharp breath and tried to block out the inappropriate sounds echoing through the kitchen.
“Sanji, p-please more”
"Use your words, my angel." You could see the glistening fluids from your pussy plastered on his chin when he pushed his head off of your thighs. “What do you want?”
“Fuck me, oh g-gods. I need you inside me." At your words, he groaned and took both of his fingers out to direct his cock at your entrance.
It wasn't difficult for him to enter since you were so soaked. At the feeling of it, you both simultaneously moaned. You felt completely filled; he just stood there for a while, waiting for you to get used to the size, until you signaled for him to start moving. It began off slow, but soon he started out moving his hips at a faster pace to satisfy both of you.
"You're perfect,” he moaned in two thrusts, and you had to put your hand over your mouth. “Look at you, taking my cock so well, oh darling.”
The hands on your hips let go and grabbed you under your right thigh, opening your legs and hitting you more deeply and faster. You thought you were seeing stars when he hit an exact spot inside your pussy that made you shout.
“Cum for me, my love. I know you want”
It didn't take long for your orgasm to hit you after that, your eyes rolled back and you let out a whine sound as you felt your walls squeeze his dick. He moaned along with you at the feeling and a few more thrusts and he came inside you.
Sanji's head fell directly to your shoulder, and you instinctively placed your palm in his blond locks. While the fluid was slowly dripping out of you, he continued to remain deep inside and breathe loudly.
He raised his head only to smile recklessly while glancing into your mouth. “So, do you still have a headache?”
Your hand reached out to push him, but you were helpless to suppress the giggles that came. He drew away from inside you but was still between your knees as he chuckled proudly.
“Do you think anyone heard?”
“I'm not sure, maybe when you let out that screa-" You slapped him on the shoulder to cut him off while embarrassed because of the probability. “Ok, ok my darling, next time we’ll find a more private place.”
“Next time, huh?
Sanji stood still with an anxious smile on his face; it was almost hilarious how someone so confident in themselves would respond in that manner. You wrapped his neck with both of your arms and gave him a quick kiss to reassure him that everything was fine.
"You should come to the kitchen more often, preferably alone.”
"And you should go shirtless more often too.”
"Only for you, my love.”
You gave him another kiss before leaving the counter, getting ready to go, and returning to the bedroom. Even though the night seemed to be becoming lighter, you were aware that there were still a few hours until sunrise. It was evident that there would be plenty of issues to address when you awoke, but for the time being, you were content, even though you were a little exhausted from the activities. As sleep came, all you could think of was Sanji and his smile.

Title: Puzzled
Pairing: Sanji x Reader
Summary: Due to your insecurities, you thought Sanji was making fun of you whenever he complimented you until you realized he wasn’t. | Genre: Fluff, some angst, hints of a troubled past| Warning: none | Words: 4.5K
You already felt nervous while sitting next to your new crew.
It wasn’t them. Well, maybe to some extent it was them as you had a hunch a secondhanded embarrassment would occur very soon in such a nice-looking place like the Baratie.
Your new crew were good people. If you didn’t believe it, you wouldn’t have left the security of your little merchant shop just because Luffy decided he liked your skills of calculations and the odd ability to seemingly fit everything that was needed into any small place imaginable.
Even if he didn’t take your no for an answer, you never really felt forced. At least not like how you did with your old crew, but you rarely liked to think about those times.
Then, before you knew it, you were checking the inventory on his ship —your new home.
Still, as good as Luffy, Zoro, Nami, and Usopp were, you did not believe for a second they wouldn’t cause some distress in the fancy establishment. Trouble always seemed to follow the bunch, and unfortunately or not, you were dragged along the ride.
Despite the fear of embarrassment, there was another reason why you were sweating bullets under your clothing and once again easily surrendering into your specific nervous habit, no doubt looking crazy or at least unstable.
In the open like this, surrounded by all these pirates and sailors, you dreaded seeing anyone from your old crew. The chances were high. Ever since you managed to leave, you had no idea what they were up to.
You would have gladly stayed under the deck just as you used to rather than stay in the security of the shop. Still, everyone told you to come with them, and if you didn’t want to burden them with the real reason why you didn’t want to join another pirate crew in the first place, you didn’t really have much of a choice.
I have to come up with a believable lie for next time, you told yourself, deciding a small lie would be better than enduring this as you not for the first time nervously looked around.
After another few tense moments, for you at least, you decided to use the restrooms and try to wash up a bit.
Your eyes scanned the place a dozen times before you found the courage to do so, somewhat confident no one who knew you from before was around.
You stood up from the table, mumbling about the restroom to the crew just as you noticed someone approach it and, in passing, heard a rather annoyed voice with a thick accent say something like, ‘Hi, welcome to our shitty restaurant…’
Weird, you thought without looking back and hurried into the restroom.
The cold water helped at least a little bit, but you still took your time trying to calm yourself down.
No one was here. None of them would find you, and why would they? You reasoned with yourself. Whatever happened before was history, but deep inside, you always feared they would hold a grudge.
You returned in the midst of chaos as a small fight broke out between some of the customers.
Great, you thought to yourself grimly and waited it out, surprised when it seemed a waiter had defused the situation by beating both customers up without dropping any food in the process.
You weren’t much of a fighter unless you had something you could use to hit them over the head with, but even you were impressed by how skilled he seemed. Something about him caught your eye for a second before you carried on your journey back to your crew.
As the passage cleared, you tried to finally return to your table, only to slip on some spilled water and almost crash into the ground.
Before you did, however, you felt someone snatch your arm and tug you away from the hard floor and toward something solid and dark.
‘Careful now, madam,’ you heard a smooth accented voice above you while your face was pressed against the solid black fabric at an odd angle, ‘Wouldn’t want someone as precious as you to injure yourself.’
Your eyes blinked and leaned away from your salvation, trying to assess what was going on.
Once you did, you found yourself looking at someone with a fine black suit. Someone who was quick and strong enough to save you from falling, it seemed.
You managed to raise your eyes from his suit toward his face and immediately felt heat rush into your cheeks.
Something cracked in the air around you, and for a moment, you forgot where you were and everything else along with it while looking at the stranger.
Huh? You thought desperately as your breath caught inside your throat.
A very nonchalant smirk played across his lips, and the grey-blue eye that wasn’t covered by his blond hair seemed to hint amusement. Whether it was because of some form of endearment, simple amusement, or mockery, you didn’t know.
What you did know was that, based on everything you felt apart from the embarrassment and shock, you were sure your body reactions could only mean one thing.
This man was far too handsome for you to handle.
‘Oh Gods,’ you mumbled, feeling mortified that you almost fell like that. Feeling mortified that someone like him caught you. Feeling mortified that he was now looking at you.
You were never good with attention — much less attention from someone like this man in front of you.
Your heart speeded up, and you averted your gaze. You were also never good with direct eye contact, and despite how it might look, at the moment, you just couldn’t stand to be in the man’s presence any longer.
‘Thank you,’ you mumbled and tried to rush away quickly.
Only when you felt his hand slipping from your arm you realized he had been holding onto you all this time.
Why?
‘You’re very welcome, madam, but the apology is unnecessary,’ he said, causing you to stop before realizing what you were doing. You immediately realized he must have been the waiter who came to your table as you were leaving.
Hesitant, hoping your face didn’t reveal your blush, you looked back at him. You found him still looking at you with that playful smirk, ‘After all, who wouldn’t want to assist a beautiful woman such as yourself.’
Just like that, you snickered before you could stop yourself and felt whatever warm, if slightly embarrassing feeling this man sparked inside you to sour into annoyance and humiliation, ‘Right.’
You turned around and, feeling like an idiot, returned to your crew, debating if you shouldn’t just excuse yourself and leave.
‘I ordered for you,’ said Nami, and you nodded grateful, ‘That’s fine.’
You were right, and the waiter, Sanji, as you learned from Luffy, showed up at your table a couple of times.
You tried to be polite and purposely busied yourself with the menu or gave out short answers without meeting his eyes.
You didn’t like being rude, but you couldn’t really force yourself to look at him or be your usual nice self. Not when it was obvious the man was mocking you.
You weren’t naïve and had a good pair of eyes. You knew how you looked compared to others. You made your peace with that and, in certain ways, even found comfort in not having to fight off the attention of gross old men the way Nami and other striking, pretty women had to all the time. So, to have someone as handsome as Sanji show up and call you beautiful and stunning and like a dream every once in a while, when he showed up at the table, left you feeling completely miserable.
Why was he so cruel?
Why did he need to mock your appearance?
You just met and barely spoke to him. So did he really have to be that much of an asshole? You would still blush and feel embarrassed if he complimented your skills or work on the ship. Still, at least a part of you would accept that he was being sincere and that you truly did a good job, but your appearance was a tricky subject.
You felt humiliated every time Sanji showed up and commented at you, to the point you couldn’t look at anyone, not even your crew, or swallow another bite. That was the real tragedy because before your mood dropped so low, you thought the food was delicious. Luckily, your new captain had no problem finishing your plate so the food wouldn’t go to waste.
‘Was the food not to your liking, madam?’ asked the accented voice close by at one point while you desperately tried not to look anywhere else but at your hands, ‘It was good. Thank you.’
‘I understand,’ he said, and even if you made a point of not meeting his gaze, you knew he was smirking, ‘Perhaps you would enjoy something specific to please your unique palate.’
You winced at his words.
Was he insulting your body or calling you high maintenance or something? Your old crew would do that. They would wrap something up in a compliment or concern, trying to seem like they meant well, only to strike you down or make you look back in your captain’s eyes, and your captain…well, he never bothered with words when he could use his hands.
You got up from the table, mumbling you weren’t feeling too good, which wasn’t much of a lie since you now really did feel bad.
It was unclear to you what took over, but for a moment, you dared yourself to glance at the blond waiter, who was still present. Once you did, you wished you hadn’t because you found him looking directly at you with that smirk still playing across his handsome face and amusement radiating from his eyes.
Not only did he make you feel shitty about yourself, but he was smiling about it now?
It would have been kinder if he kicked you into the gut.
Needless to say, your first impression of the handsome man was not good, and you mentally hoped you would leave as soon as possible so you wouldn’t have to deal with him any more than this.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Unfortunately, you discovered it wouldn’t be that simple when you and your crew brought Zoro’s unconscious and wounded body into Nami’s bed after his fight with Mihawk.
It was the first time you properly looked at him, feeling your stomach sinking.
The bleeding was excessive, and a single look at his wounds was all you needed to be triggered back to the times with your old captain and crew. Deadly injuries were common when the captain’s temper got out of hand. It was why many resorted to snitching on others or making up rumors and such, if only to be labeled as valuable and loyal and avoid his wrath themselves. At times, you wondered if things would have been more bearable if your crew showed more solidarity with each other.
You blinked several times, trying to chase away the fog of vicious memories and return to the present time to your badly injured friend.
‘Baratie,’ your voice was weak when you spoke, and you watched Nami nod.
‘Luffy, we need to go,’ you said to your captain whose gaze never felt Zoro’s wound, ‘I’m not really in the mood for food, you guys,’ said Luffy, uncharacteristically quiet next to you.
‘To get a doctor!’ yelled Nami, and you merely shook your head and pulled at his wrist to drag him back toward the restaurant with you.
You weren’t thinking clearly when you found the head chef and the waiter in the kitchen. You weren’t certain what was said as you were still too shaken from the reality of Zoro being injured and the trauma from your past.
You vaguely recalled Luffy begging for their help while you rambled over what happened all too fast; you didn’t really make sense to yourself, let alone an outsider.
You didn’t notice Sanji approaching you. At least not until you felt a warm, solid palm against your shoulder blades and another against your cheek.
Your eyes got trapped by a pair of grey-blue ones while that accented voice you found all too soothing in that moment spoke, ‘It’s alright, sweetheart.’
His expression was oddly severe for once, but still not completely, ‘Breath with me.’
In a heartbeat, you obeyed, feeling grounded by the instruction that took your mind away from the distress, ‘Our friend is injured. Can you help us, please?’
‘At once, madam,’ said Sanji, and you were certain never in your entire life had anyone looked at you so gently as this man had at that moment while promising his help.
Swallowing, you nodded and allowed the man to lead you back to your ship and your injured crewmate.
It wasn’t until you noticed Usopp’s raised eyebrows and gaze at your side that you realized that somewhere along everything that happened, you or Sanji took hold of the other’s hand and remained that way until now.
With a rapidly beating heart, you gently shook your hand free from his hold, immediately mourning the absence of his touch and warmth, and pushed it into your pocket for comfort. It didn’t seem to help, though. Still, you forced yourself to be grateful and optimistic since, after all, right now, you brought someone who could help Zoro, and that was what mattered.
Your injured crewmate was your main focus, of course, but every once in a while, whenever your gaze met the blond’s, you found him looking at you with fondness and a smirk that seemed just soft enough to be a kind smile.
Sighing you offered him a small nod unsure if it meant there was some peace between you two or something else entirely.
For now, you let it rest.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After the head chef Zeff did all he could for Zoro, you took turns talking to your unconscious friend and maintaining the ship, but apart from that, there wasn’t much to do. The waiting was the worst of it. You left Nami to read to Zoro and went to find something to do. You often felt like morose by nature, but with everything going on, it all seemed even more depressing.
Even if there was no reason for him to stick around, you found Sanji in the ship’s kitchen when you went there to check the inventory. Something you only did to fill the time, as you had already done so just yesterday, ‘Oh, I’m sorry.’
‘For what?’ he chuckled, stealing a glance at you with that typical smirk of his, ‘If anything, a little bit of company would be nice.’
You felt the familiar uneasiness inside your stomach, wondering if he would make fun of you again. Still, simultaneously, you recalled how he calmed you down when you came to ask for help and how sincere he seemed since.
There was also the story he told you all about how Zeff sacrificed his leg to save him, which forced you to excuse yourself and cry a little bit on your own, only for the man to call after you, mocking you again by acting all sweet and lovable.
Overall, you didn’t think you ever met a man who puzzled you as much as Sanji.
‘Please,’ he said, ‘I find it abnormal to have a kitchen all to myself.’
Biting your lower lip momentarily, you decided to enter, telling yourself you could pretend to be busy while checking the supplies.
Yet, you darted your eyes to his hands. They work for a moment before you move to gaze at his face. You were puzzled by this man. He seemed so focused, and in his element, you almost didn’t want to speak in fear to ruin his concertation and work.
Your gazes met, and once again, he offered you a little smirk. You couldn’t decide if he was secretly making fun of you, trying to trick you, or being genuine? But if so, why the games?
You rushed to the opposite side and turned your back to him while taking quick notes and counting.
You could clearly hear him cutting vegetables and stirring something occasionally, and yet, you felt his grey-blue eyes on you at all the time, too.
‘I have to say, I’m impressed,’ he said after a moment of tense silence.
You blinked, turning to find him with his back to you. Were you just imagining his gaze after all?
‘I find the number of supplies you manage to fit almost surreal,’ he chuckled and glanced at you.
You averted your eyes, feeling the familiar heat return to your face, ‘I’m just good at filling every little crack with something.’ At your old ship, if you didn’t find a way to fit all the supplies and things the captain wanted on the ship, you wouldn’t eat dinner or, worse, face his wrath.
He glanced at you again, and when you looked at him, you found him smiling, ‘Now you’re just selling yourself unfairly short, sweetheart.’
He turned his back to you and said, ‘If I’m not mistaken, you have to consider the number of people on board. How much will they eat or need for however many days you have until your next stop? Not to mention, consider the weight of everything on the ship.’
Your heart swelled with pride just as it had when Luffy pointed out how cool it was that you could do all that, like it was one of the best tricks he ever saw. Even if it was hard to accept the praise, it was nice to be appreciated. You never got such a treatment when you were with your old crew.
As you felt too self-aware to look at him and see his eyes after he made you feel so good about yourself, you chose to turn away, ‘Thank you. You’re… that’s nice of you to say.’
It was a nice thing to say, and you felt a bit guilty that you always thought of him so harshly.
When you suddenly felt him by your side, your eyes widened, and you swiftly turned to glance at him.
Too close, you thought as you felt his body heat against your skin, even through clothing.
He offered you another smirk. Oddly, no matter how many times he smirked at you, you never felt genuinely threatened or put off by it. They just left your heart beating too fast and your palms sweaty.
Sanji reached for one of the boxes in the cabin above your head, ‘Just being honest, madam. Cross my heart.’
Your heart might as well have been trying to jump out of your chest with how fast it was beating when he said that.
Cruel, you thought to yourself. No matter how he wrapped it, he was a really cruel man for doing all of this to you.
He offered you a single wink and returned back to his cooking while you decided to finish this later and ran out. You just felt too overwhelmed by this man at the moment to stick around longer, even if perhaps a tiny part of you wouldn’t have minded.
You still weren’t sure what to think about the blond, but when he praised your skills rather than your looks, you felt he might be sincere.
The fact remained that the man puzzled you. At times, he sounded like a genuinely nice enough man, even funny and pleasant to be around, but then he would start to compliment you and make you feel nervous. It wasn’t good when it was just the two. As much as you would prefer to avoid him, it seemed impossible. But by the gods of the sea, it got worse when others were around, and they could hear it all.
You just found yourself feeling too exposed and embarrassed. You didn’t like to be made fun of. And the only reason why you never tried to tell him it bothered you or stop talking to him was that, despite all of this, you didn’t wish to start anything. You wanted to keep the peace, and as long as his comments remained just comments, you would endure. You endured far worse, after all.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It honestly took you a while to realize he wasn’t mocking you, or at least not doing so on purpose. Maybe you would have realized it sooner had you all not been dealing with Nami’s absence and the whole Arlong mess.
It wasn’t until you met with Nami’s sister, Nojiko, that it really hit you.
He was a flirt.
That was all to it.
He wasn’t mocking or singling you out; he just acted like this with every woman he met.
You felt a mixture of things. You were relieved that he wasn’t making fun of you, just being himself. Another part of you was even grateful that despite your apparent lacking in the traditional beauty department, he still treated you the same way as any of the number of the really beautiful women he encountered. You couldn’t recall the last time you were treated nicely in such a way. But of course, because of your insecurities, you couldn’t completely shake the feeling of embarrassment whenever he would call you beautiful or give you attention, mainly because even if he wasn’t making fun of you, you knew some might or worse people would think you actually thought all those things were true. You just didn’t like the attention. It made your flaws feel far too exposed.
‘Here, let me do that, so you can eat,’ you offered to fill the plates in his place. You already finished eating anyway, and you didn’t really like to sit around pointlessly.
‘Nonsense,’ he said, but it seemed he brightened up even more than he was before when you approached him, ‘It wouldn’t feel right to let a woman of your beauty to do all the work.’
You almost sighed, but now that you knew it wasn’t in bad taste, you forced yourself to grimace, ‘Then at least let me help you with the dishes?’
The blond chuckled and shook his head at you. He seemed genuinely amused with a hind of fondness when he spoke, ‘You certainly are hard working. Don’t you ever rest?’
You shrugged your shoulders before you quickly started to work on the pile of dishes the villager brought for cleaning during the celebration of the Straw Hat Crew’s victory.
‘Here,’ you heard Sanji behind you.
Before you could properly turn around, you watched a pair of hands put an apron around you, ‘Wouldn’t want you to ruin your clothes.’
You forced yourself to stay calm and offered the man a smile and a quiet thanks before you resumed your work on the dishes.
It was nice. Due to your personality, you never particularly liked crowds or a lot of people. But whenever you were forced to be around them or had a need for it, you always tried to gain an option to still find your personal solitude for a few moments or hours. Sometimes, when it happened, you felt lonely, but tonight, you couldn’t help but smile at how happy and festive everyone was around you. Their good mood affected your own.
Especially Nami’s. Watching her from time to time, you smile to yourself, knowing she was genuinely happy for her to have her freedom and name cleaned at last.
‘Our captain sure is something else,’ said the blond behind you, still serving out food.
You turned to see what he meant and smiled at Luffy goofing around with Usopp and some villagers.
You nodded, ‘He is. But given how pirate captains usually are, it’s a good thing.’
You resumed your work, and based on the number of times someone said thanks or Sanji chatted up some random woman, you assumed he did, too.
After a while, you heard him speak again, ‘Usopp said he’s not your first captain, though.’
‘Usopp talks a lot,’ you commented, feeling your stomach sinking and your nervous habit awakening just as it always had whenever you thought about your old life. Even on such a nice night like this one, with everyone so happy and carefree, your traumatizing past snuck up on you.
‘Ah, don’t do that, sweetheart. You’re hurting yourself, and such a pretty woman should never do so to herself,’ said the blond effortlessly, yet with a hint of concern.
You quickly stopped and tried to busy yourself with work again, ‘Sorry.’ You still felt nervous and knew if you weren’t busy and trying to actively fight it, you would easily succumb to the habit again.
You finished the last plate so far, and without anything else to do but anxiously wait.
Debating with yourself for a moment, you turned to watch the blond. Seeing the way he worked so focused, pleased with his work, himself, and skilled, you felt your heartbeat slow down. It seemed you found comfort in watching him.
He wasn’t looking at you, but you could tell he was aware you could see him.
It must have been the sense of peace he seemed to have brought you that you found your lips moving apart, ‘My first captain was not a good guy. Neither was anyone in my old crew.’
You regretted your words immediately. You didn’t speak about your old crew for a reason, and you honestly didn’t want to ruin everyone’s mood at the moment.
For a second, you noticed Sanji pause and look very much lost in his thoughts before he turned toward you.
You were confused, especially when he reached for your hand, but nevertheless, you allowed him to take it.
Even if he must have been going for serious, he looked nothing but properly soft when he said, ‘I can assure you at least this cook plans to be nothing but good to you.’
It was just a bunch of words in a sentence, but when he said it and pressed a soft kiss against your palm, you couldn’t help but wonder if it was a personal vow to you. It sure sounded like one. Oddly enough, despite everything you’ve been through, even if just a tiny bit, you believed it. You believed him.
His eyes remained kind and face soft, and for one wildest moment, you almost found yourself wondering if he would do something else. Something more.
Then, however, out of the blue, someone loudly cleared their throat, and you jumped away, pulling your hand out of his.
‘If you two plan to slack off, you should let someone else handle this,’ you heard Zoro say and mentally cursed yourself while feeling your face heating up with embarrassment.
‘Don’t be jealous,’ you heard Sanji reply, ‘If you smiled every once in a while, and wasn’t such a pain in the ass, I’m positive we could find you someone to adore too.’
You didn’t dare to turn around and tried to appear busy with the new dishes someone brought you making sure not to look at the blond again no matter how often you felt his gaze on you-
Wait-
Someone to adore too?!
“Look at your waiter's face. He knows. It's another reason to be polite to your waiter; he could save your life with a raised eyebrow or a sigh.”
― Anthony Bourdain,
The first thing you saw was the red, bright sign spelling out the restaurant's name.
Baratie. You had no clue what it meant but could only hope that “the best restaurant in the East Blue” was somewhere down the list of its definitions, especially after the months that they had kept you on the waiting list and the tumultuous trip that it took to sail there. Next, as your ship approached, you saw the… fish head. The sight of the sculpture at the front of the ship structure buried some worry in the pit of your stomach, but surely, if so many people had given it such fond reviews, the exterior was not to speak for what awaited you inside.
‘Believe me, baby, you’ll love it here.’
‘I really hope so,’ you smiled as you got off your boat. Your legs shook at the knee as you stepped onto the sturdy dock planks. Days at sea, which had never been your friend, had clearly done more damage than you expected. You would have been on the floor if it wasn’t for the pair of arms holding on to you.
‘Thanks, Chosi,’ you said towards your boyfriend as he helped you steadily get back onto your feet.
‘Can’t have you faceplant the second we get here,’ he brushed some invisible dust off your shoulder, and with his arm entwined with yours, he led you to the entrance of the establishment. You grabbed at the skirt of your dress to keep it down as the wind blew by.
As you walked, you looked at all the other ships harboured on the… was this an island? Was the entirety just one large ship? Was it anchored to something then, or was it drifting around the seas constantly? You couldn’t quite comprehend the logistics of it all. But you could tell that humans and other creatures of all walks of life–royalty, commoners, marines, pirates—were unbothered by each other's presence and enjoying the outing. Once inside, the shushed sound of the waves was exchanged for a whisper of swing music, as well as the chatter of the restaurant’s patrons and the clinking of their cutlery on plates. The walls were lined in crimson wallpaper as well as painted depictions of sea battles, accented in gold and bronze details matching the furniture placed spaciously around the room and the two stories above it that lead the eye to a beautiful aquamarine ceiling that gave the illusion as if one was looking up at the bright sky from underwater.
The maitre’d, a Fishman, stood to attention at your entrance.
‘Good afternoon, how may I help you?’ he asked kindly.
‘We have a reservation. Name is Chosi,’ Chosi stated with his head held high. Despite you doubting that anyone knew his name in these parts of the world, he never ceased to pronounce it with a level of expectation to it. It was commendable, as well as disappointing, when nothing happened afterwards. The maitre’d simply nodded and glanced down at his long list of names, searching for the one he had just heard, ready to cross it off.
‘Ah, yes, right here. Please, do follow me to your table.’ And so, you did just that, walking down the grand staircase onto the restaurant's main floor, where you seated at one of the smaller tables, perfect for a romantic dinner for two. ‘Your waiter will be right with you.’ The Fishman bid you farewell just like that and returned to his position at the door.
‘So?’ Chosi looked at you with a raised brow as you looked around.
‘It is quite stunning.’ You must admit that you did not expect this kind of splendour when looking at the carved fish that gaped at you outside. Something about that just did not exude the same essence as the timeless and classy beauty of the interior. You barely even felt the shake of the waves beneath you.
Maybe your response wasn’t sufficient, for Chosi had opened his mouth to respond, something in the angles of his face announcing displeasure, but he was interrupted by a new presence at your table. You looked up at the tall figure towering over you.
‘Welcome,’ the man spoke, his accent clearly indicating his origin if only you had been aware of where that was. Simultaneously, he put down a plate of bread rolls, perfectly and meticulously positioned atop it. ‘...to Baratie. My name is Sanji; I will be your waiter this afternoon.’
‘Took you long enough.’ Chosi mumbled under his breath, giving you an immense urge to kick him underneath the table, but you knew better than to do that, especially when he did not seem to be ready to stop any time soon. ‘Trying to convince my girl this place is worth visiting, heh.’ You could feel your cheeks burning up in embarrassment. Nevertheless, the waiter—Sanji, he said was his name—did not seem to give the comment much thought as he looked down at you with a curve to his thin-lined lips.
‘My apologies, madame; I hope my service will not give you the false impression of this establishment being worth any of your precious time.’ The smoothness of his voice almost concealed the true meaning behind his speech, leaving you, as well as your date, speechless. However, you felt your speaking ability to be taken away by more than just his words as you spared a second to take your waiter in properly. You just could not help but notice how his suit wrapped around his arms, and although one was covered by his blonde hair, his eyes had a glint of something that excited you despite not even knowing the root of that excitement.
Like nothing had happened, Sanji continued, ‘Would you care to see the menu? Hear the specials?’ That is when you noticed the menu cards he was holding in his hand. And he must have been ready to list the special items, but Chosi was a step ahead.
‘Actually, I think we are ready to order.’ That was the first you had heard of it, but you stayed put as he continued. After all, Chosi had eaten here before. He knew what was good, and you could trust his judgement.
‘Prime rib, medium rare,’ as your boyfriend spoke, you kept your eye on the waiter, noticing the appearance of the smallest of flinches in his face at the sound of the dish, but never faltering his picture-perfect appearance, ‘and my lady will have the salad.’
Another twitch, right below his visible eyes, followed, but Sanji’s professional facade stayed on as he inquired: ‘We offer quite a variety of salads; which would madame prefer?’ And with that, he turned to you, that smile plastered on like a sticker, but he had trouble keeping it on as the answer to his question did not come from your mouth.
‘Whichever is the best, of course.’ Chosi rolled his eyes, and you wished you could do so as well. The waiter glanced between you and him, turning back to you momentarily. Long enough for you to give him a reassuring smile. It would be in everyone’s best interest if he just moved on from the matter.
‘Drinks, then,’ Sanji again spoke with an unphased essence about him, as if nothing from the past few minutes had ever occurred, or at least tried to emulate this. ‘Madam, anything I can get you?’ The way he emphasised that word didn’t require any pointed glares.
‘Uhm,’ you hesitated as he kept his full attention on you, completely ignoring the man sitting opposite you at the table, making Chosi stare at you just as, if not more, intensely, for all the opposite reasons. Out of panic, you just blurted out the most straightforward order. ‘Just water, thank you.’ It being the first words you said in the waiter's presence, they came out soft. Nothing like your regular voice, which startled you slightly.
‘Still, sparkling or mineral?’ Sanji pursued.
‘Still please,’ you smiled shyly, unsure where that actual shyness derived from.
‘Ice? Cubed or crushed?’ He fired the questions at a rapid pace.
‘A bit of ice is fine. Thank you,’ you repeated yourself, looking down at the table and letting the waiter move on to the rest of the order. He didn’t say anything else but looked at Chosi with anticipation.
‘I’ll have your finest brew.’
‘Coming up,’ his voice had a sudden coldness to it as he walked away, back to the kitchen, leaving the table to a thick silence.
‘I could have ordered for myself, you know,’ you said, with that same soft tone you had spoken with earlier, although this felt much more familiar seeing who you talked to.
‘And have you stuff yourself with some useless carbs? C’mon, you know I’m just looking out for you, here.’
‘I know.’ You straightened out a fork in front of you, suddenly feeling uneasy at how far away from the plate it was positioned compared to the knife on the opposite side. You were straightening out a crease in the tablecloth when Sanji returned with a silver tray in one hand. He placed the pint glass full of golden brew in front of Chosi before turning your way and setting a glass beside your plate. With a pair of tongs, one by one, he let ice cubes fall to the bottom of it, the clinking against the glass almost deafening. Then, he followed up with another pair of tongs and reached for a little tray but stopped himself to ask you: ‘Care for a slice of lemon, madame?’
‘Oh, uhm, sure,’ you shrugged, unable to look away. This process of pouring a glass of water felt rather extensive, but you could not deny the fact you were enjoying it all. As he grabbed the large pitcher to pour the water, you were unsure how he had carried all of these items with one hand and did so seemingly effortlessly.
‘There we go,’ he smiled, ‘your food will be with you shortly, but do let me know if you require anything else.’ And just like that, he was gone again, but not without leaving you feeling that he had meant his parting words especially for you and that that sentiment had undoubtedly not escaped your date.
‘I don’t like the look of that guy.’ Chosi glared at you as he took a sip from his pint, slurping up the top layer of foam with it.
‘I think he’s quite sweet.’ You straightened out the fork again and reached for a bread roll to tear it apart piece by piece.
‘Of course you would,’ he rolled his eyes, which made you look up from your little snack.
‘What is that supposed to mean?’ You put the bread roll down as the pit in your stomach hollowed out your appetite. Right, making space for that damn salad.
‘Nothing.’ Chosi shrugged, ‘Just that it's typical that somehow I’m the only one to notice when some guy is trying to cop a feel.’
‘He was doing no such thing.’ You had to bite your tongue not to raise your voice as his insinuation, despite being on the waiter's actions, seemed to be brutally judging yourself. ‘The poor guy is just doing his job. I’m not bothered by it, and neither should you be.’ Usually, you would attach some sweet nickname at the end of that sentence, but this was one too many times you had said a variant of the confirmation, and you were growing tired of just the thought of it.
Somewhere in the distance, a table erupted into a shouting match that had to be broken up by a handful of waiters. While usually, you turned away from such brutalities, never having been fond of violence and not particularly having a necessity in seeing people getting their teeth punched out minutes before eating a meal, this time you stretched your neck out to glance across the room, secretly hoping to catch a glimpse of the white-blonde hair among the rousing heads. Someone had pulled a pistol, but the weapon was kicked out of the man's grip before they could shoot or even alarm people enough to hide beneath their tables. Just like that, the restaurant resumed its normal state of pleasantries, and you got back to your abysmal date and hoped it was still worth saving… or that saving was still even an option to begin with.
‘From what you had told me about the place, Chi, it is much grander than I had expected.’ You smiled, and he nodded to your affirmations.
‘Well, I didn’t want to raise the expectations too high, but you know I don’t do anything but the best for you, sweet cheeks.’
‘Of course—’ you were interrupted by the footsteps nearing your table, and the weight nearly lifted off your shoulders at the sight of Sanji carrying too large plates.
‘Hello there,’ he grinned slyly, ‘hope I don’t interrupt anythin’.’
‘Not at all,’ You moved your glass aside to make space for your dish, but Sanji put Chosi’s plate down first, announcing the food.
‘Prime rib, medium rare, for the gentleman.’ Like everything else, he precisely placed it so the gold details on the plate faced the diner exactly right. The roast glistened in the restaurant's dim light, and the smell hit you right at the nerves that reminded you of your hunger. But that was for the gentleman, and the gentleman had ordered for you the—
‘And for the madame,’ Sanji put a plate in front of you, ‘what I like to call the Sanji Special.’
You looked down at your plate of food with a stunned expression and then looked back up. Just in time, you caught the slight wink that your waiter had sent you before stepping back to then, with a nod, say, ‘Bon appetite.’
He got to take about three steps and had just turned his back towards your table when Chosi called out to him, clearing his throat. ‘Ehem, excuse me, Sonny.’
‘Is there a problem?’ Sanji returned with his hands behind his back, but you didn’t need to see his fists to know he was clenching them. It was all visible in the strain of his upper arms and jaw as he restrained himself to keep up a polite smile.
‘I am pretty sure we had ordered a salad?’ Chosi tried to play it off with a casual laugh, but it turned out to be anything but. Sanji leaned forward to grab the plate, but then your boyfriend exclaimed, ‘No, not for me; for her.’ before the waiter got his hand on his prime rib.
With a satisfied smile, Sanji glanced at your plate and stated: ‘That is a salad.’
Not that you did not appreciate what was in front of you, but if it was a salad, it was the loosest interpretation of the definition possible. You had to keep your laugh in as he explained that the dish was a “twist on kensui salad with steamed components, egg, and pork” or, in your simpler terms… the most delicious-looking pot of ramen you had ever encountered in your life, but no, definitely not a salad in the traditional sense. You smiled at the food, not daring to look up at Sanji while your boyfriend’s head seemed to be boiling alive, but the waiter was a step ahead of you.
‘Ah, almost forgot, for the lady,’ almost out of nowhere, he made a pair of chopsticks appear for you.
‘She will not be eating that,’ Chosi grunted.
‘I think that is for her to decide,’ Sanji didn’t even bother to look at him, keeping his sweet smile on you, which, in turn, rushed a hot flush over your cheeks.
‘Chosi, don’t be like that; this looks delicious.’ You spoke, hoping he would calm down and let you finally sink your teeth into this gorgeous meal. After a tense second, Chosi finally huffed out and sank back down in his chair, making you realise he had been on the verge of getting up for whatever reason. Either way, his intentions could not have been good. In the meantime, Sanji excused himself once more to finally leave you to eat.
You had perhaps taken half a bite when Chosi, his food untouched, spoke up again. ‘Why do you always do this?’
‘Do what?’ your throat tightened around the pork you had just swallowed.
‘Embarrass me like that?’ He sighed, a vein in his forehead looking more prominent than ever.
‘I didn’t—’
‘Cut the shit, you know what you’re doing.’ Chosi slammed his fist on the table, startling you and the few people sitting at the nearest tables to you.
‘Please, can we not do this now,’ you kept your head down, ignoring all the pairs of eyes that must have started catching on to what was happening. Chosi had turned red from anger by that point.
‘What, am I being too much for you? Imagine what it’s like going out with a slut—’
‘Chosi!’ you snapped, immediately covering your face with your hand as if you had not meant to shout and grab the attention of even more people.
Deep breath in.
Out.
‘What the fuck is wrong with you?’ You hissed at the man across the table from you.
‘With me? You’re the one that has been eyefucking the waiter this whole time, and now you disrespected me like that in front of him? Do I mean so little to you?’
‘I did no such thing.’ You rolled your eyes, catching glimpses of the room you were in. The people that sat around, the employees. Of course, Sanji stood only a few tables away, taking an order. Could he hear what was happening? Most likely, the idea of that burned you in a new, much more unpleasant manner. Chosi must have said something, but you had been too occupied by your surroundings and too tired to even listen to what other vile things he had to tell you. The only thing that kept you at that table was the food, but no matter how good, it wasn’t worth enduring him. ‘You know what,’ you grabbed your napkin and slapped it onto the table, ‘I can’t do this right now. I’ll see you on the boat.’ The chair shrieked as you shoved it back.
‘Where the hell do you think you’re going,’ Chosi growled practically, and despite you having already turned your back to him, you heard his own chair scrape the deck floor. You had your eyes squeezed shut as you got ready for what was coming. He reached out, but nothing happened.
You looked over your shoulder to see Sanji pulling Chosi in by the sleeve.
‘Believe me, we don’t wanna do that, mate.’ Sanji said, his eyes filled with a new rage that made you take a step back.
‘Let go of me, you sleaze.’ Chosi suddenly reminded you of a feral kitten, how he tried to wriggle himself out of the waiter’s grip. ‘I’ll make you regret ever touching me. Do you know who I am?’
‘Do I look like I give a shit?’ he let go with a laugh, almost pushing Chosi to the ground. As your date dusted off his sleeves, Sanji took a step forward, pressing himself against him. Now that both men were standing face to face, did you only realise how much taller Sanji was than your boyfriend. How much bigger and, most likely, how much stronger. With a hushed and reserved tone yet somehow full of intimidation, the waiter said, ‘Don’t you ever try to touch or speak to a woman like that again, you hear me? Or I’ll make you regret you were ever born.’
Chosi could only nod with his eyes blown wide open. The restaurant was dead quiet, unable to pull their eyes away from the scene unfolding before them. No one said anything or moved, and yet, somewhere, a stack of plates fell. The crash of porcelain echoed through the space, and Sanji turned his attention toward the kitchen’s double doors for a second. That quick moment was enough for Chosi to find his moment and attack.
Or at least make an attempt at it.
Sanji was still looking toward the kitchen, and Chosi’s fist was in mid-air, but the waiter flawlessly manoeuvred around it, swinging himself back and letting Chosi fall forward. To make matters worse, Sanji supplemented the fall by kicking him over. If it wasn’t for the fact that your boyfriend’s chin had smacked against the table, you would have missed the entire thing, as Sanji’s movements were so elegant that it seemed as if he had not moved at all. He might as well have been refilling your water, ignorant of the groaning mess of a man he had kicked down to the ground with such ease.
Chosi got up shakily. A nasty cut was already dripping blood from the underside of his face, but the redness didn’t compare to the rage on his face. He looked around until his eyes caught yours. ‘What, you’re just gonna stand there like some dumb–’
‘What did I just say?’ Sanji said, this time much louder, not trying to hide the row from the rest of the diners. But before he could make another move, Chosi reached for the nearest thing he could reach, which in his case was your dish of ramen, and threw a fistful of noodles Sanji’s way, hitting him square in the chest.
Silence.
He must have been too stunned at the audacious strike to move out of the way for it. Everyone must have been watching the noodles unstick from his navy jacket and slowly fall to the ground, then watched as Sanji raised his head back up, his expression unamused and cold, but his eyes filled with a passionate and furious fire. One that was enough to live up to the promise he had made the man you had come to the restaurant with. And so, just like that, without another word needing to be said by anyone, you watched Chosi back away—one, two, three steps, whimpering and mumbling some comments that could almost make up an apology, before he sprinted up the stairs to the exit.
‘Ridiculous,’ you heard Sanji mutter under his breath. ‘Fucking waste of food.’
Before you could think any better about it, you walked up and knelt down, as he did, to reach for the spilt noodles. ‘I am so sorry,’ you started apologising. ‘I swear normally he–’
 ‘Is exactly like that,’ Sanji chuckled with a rasp. You looked up at him, a bit dumbfounded. He had managed to scoop most of the food before you had and was already getting up. ‘You have nothing to apologise for.’ One of his colleagues had been quick with bringing over cleaning supplies. ‘If anything, I should be the one saying sorry. Let me make it up to you—a drink in the bar, on the house.’
‘No, that is really not necessary.’ You couldn’t accept anything for free after your boyfriend pulled off such a scene and… had run off without paying. The realisation hit you like a brick on the head as you cursed under your breath with a strong sense of panic, which Sanji caught on to immediately.
‘Please,’ He reached gently for your arm. ‘I insist.’
You stuttered for a moment before actually answering in defeated agreement. With a satisfied smile, Sanji led you to another exit, leading to the bar deck. ‘Right this way, madame.’
The bar deck, located in the mouth of that giant fish head, was moderately empty. Except for you and the appointed barman behind the counter, only a handful of others were sprinkled across the couches and futons. You chose a seat overlooking the sea and the setting sun that coloured the sky and waters an array of warm colours.
You understood that you had to go up to the bar to order, but you felt no particular need for it, just enjoying the breeze that brought over the calm sea air towards you.
It was unclear how much time you spent sitting out there, looking at the waves splashing by and the clouds above you and the people around you. Only once the sun had set entirely, darkening the sky completely, and most people had left the area, you decide to finally walk up to the bartender and place an order. The man nodded and proceeded to make your drink with only a few attached flourishes to the craft, but the result was charming and tasted delicious.
‘I hope I had made it clear that that was one drink on the house,’ you heard from behind you.
‘Don’t worry, this is my first.’ You said, turning around to see Sanji standing behind you.
‘You might just be the slowest drinker I have ever met,’ he said as he took the spot by your side.
‘Jeez, do your manners flush away the second you’re off the clock?’ You smiled, taking a sip of your drink, most likely also proving Sanji his point as the sip you took was particularly small.
‘For what it’s worth, madame, I was about to tell you that your bill has been taken care of.’ He leaned against the bar countertop with his forearms. ‘But I will make myself scarce now.’
‘No, wait,’ you stopped him before he could push himself back. ‘What do you mean it was– I would have happily paid. At least let me leave a tip.’ You were ready to pull out your purse when he took his turn to halt your movements.
‘I will not be accepting any tips for my service today. And honestly, you barely had a meal to eat, let alone to pay for. It is all taken care of. I promise.’
You looked up at him apprehensively, but something about his–not necessarily laidback–but how he was so comfortable with the situation put you at ease, too. But something was gnawing at your conscience.
‘Alright then, but I disagree with the review of your service. You most certainly need something for it in return.’ How could you repay the man who had just gotten you out of your horrific relationship? You doubted anything in the world could match your actual gratefulness. Although, maybe the smile that pulled at Sanji’s lips said something different.
‘Let me cook for you.’
‘What?’ You blinked slowly, making him smile even wider.
‘You haven’t eaten anything proper in hours. Let me make you something in the kitchen–an exclusive guest experience.’
‘That doesn’t sound much like a gratuity for you.’ You pointed out, but he did not seem to mind.
‘Indulge me,’ was all he responded with. Feeling giddy at the prospect, you glanced over at the bartender, who was definitely listening in on the conversation. Understanding what you meant with your look, he simply shrugged while wiping the glasses.
‘Ok then.’ This entire thing felt utterly ridiculous, and you didn’t hide the amusement you felt from it as Sanji opened the door to the kitchen for you. That is when your smile lightly faltered, only to be replaced with a fallen jaw as you looked around in amazement. Like the dining area, this room had a high ceiling but wasn’t decorated as much as simply visually enhanced by all the bronze pots and pans hanging around, and the pipes leading from the ovens and stoves up to the chimneys. There were long lines of prep stations, behind which one Sanji comfortably made himself at home as he immediately got started on something.
The first few minutes, after you watched him exchange his suit jacket for a white chef’s uniform, you were occupied with the kitchen itself, but once you had gotten used to the environment, you wondered where you could make yourself equally comfortable as not a nuisance to him as he cooked.
‘Make yourself at home, sweetheart,’ he said while chopping some ingredients at a speed that made your heart skip a beat in fear. Or did that come from the new nickname that caught you by surprise?
‘What happened to “madame”?’ you walked closer to his station. Sanji just looked up briefly, eye covered by his hair but his smile evermore present. Your smile lasted longer as you forgot you had meant to look at what he was doing, not to stare at him. Noticing he was not planning on answering your question, you asked another. ‘So, what exactly are you making?’
‘Since I’m sure dinner did not turn out entirely as you had planned, I thought maybe dessert would be a good pick-me-up. Rose and chocolate meringue tartes, how does that sound?’
 ‘Makes me wonder what I did to deserve it,’ you laugh it off while speaking the question that had been on your mind this whole time.
‘I like to show a lady how she’s meant to be treated,’ he said as he poured several ingredients into a glass bowl and began wicking at a pace that should have stopped him from looking so effortless long ago. ‘It’s all part of the special package deal.’
‘Right, the Sanji Special, was it?’ You looked around at the countertop next to him, which seemed free from ingredients and anything you could set on fire. You glanced his way, and he swiftly nodded your way. With that permission in mind, you pushed yourself up on the counter, swinging your legs lightly back and forth. ‘So what exactly does this special indicate?’
‘A nice meal, a little surprise, a few kind words, nothing too crazy. I would like to think that, with it, I have perfected the recipe on how to eliminate shitbag boyfriends like that prince charming you came here with.’
‘My knight in shining armour.’ You rolled your eyes, hiding how much you appreciated all his actions from that day. ‘Must have worked on quite a few girls then?’
‘Can’t say it has,’ he said as he pushed the oven open to prebake a few tartelette frames. The speed at which he worked truly was otherworldly.
‘Can’t because of a bad success rate or because you hadn’t actually tried it before?’
He appeared next to you from beside the oven; tiny droplets of sweat were forming at his temple, but his energy was still burning like the fire under the pot where he was melting the chocolate. ‘Let's say the latter. For both our dignity’s sake.’ It did not come as a surprise to you that he was a flirt and most likely tried these tricks out on the entirety of the female clientele, and yet, for reasons unknown, you did not mind one bit, and it still did not seize to make the smallest of his advances work on you with tremendous effect.
‘Don’t think I have much more of that left after everything that happened out there.’ You cringed at the memory of the shouting, the mess, and just how many people had been sitting there watching you.
‘There’s been much worse out there, believe me.’ Sanji lowered the fire under the pan lightly.
‘I hardly believe that. He threw noodles at you. That is absolutely revolting behaviour.’ And somehow, you managed not to get kicked out of the restaurant along with Chosi but even got to hang out in the kitchen after hours as a special dessert was being prepared for you… by the waiter that your boyfriend had tried to assault— no, that your ex-boyfriend tried to assault. That felt much better, but still didn’t let the whole situation make any more sense.
‘And that wouldn’t even make the top ten of shit that’s happened around this place.’
‘I… am not sure wether to be relieved or disappointed.’ For an inexplicable reason, you thought you would be more memorable to him. However, would you have wanted that, seeing the actual circumstances under which that would be? Ugh.
As if he could read your mind, Sanji added in. ‘Don’t worry, I’m not planning on forgetting you anytime soon.’
‘I bet you say that to everyone.’ You rolled your eyes, to which he just smiled. ‘But really, I am sorry for what happened—especially to your suit.’
‘I care more about the noodles, honestly, don’t like seeing food go to waste—’ he drifted off with his thoughts before coming back up to the surface with another question, ‘speaking of noodles, where’d you meet this guy anyway?’
‘It’s complicated,’ you sighed, not wanting to burden him with your story, but from the eager attitude he was conveying as he managed his ingredients, he did not hold the same sentiment over it. ‘We had been friends for ages—out dads worked together—and it seemed, to everyone, apparently, like the natural progression of events that we would end up together.’
‘Everyone… except for you?’ he assumed, looking up at you from the counter space.
‘No, I mean, at first I thought so too, but over time… well, you saw it yourself. But by the time I had realised what a mess I had gotten myself into, it felt like I was already too late.’
‘How so?’ You heard the gentleness in his question like he was treading the topic lightly, not wanting to put any pressure on it or on you to answer.
‘Heard people talking he had been planning to propose.’ You shrugged it off. ‘But I doubt that will be happening anymore.’
‘What are you going to do now?’ The question came with that same carefulness but perhaps a bit more intrigue. You simply shrugged again.
‘Will probably have to find another ship to get back home on, as I can’t imagine he would want me on board with him.’ It was crazy you had not bothered to check but assumed that he had already taken off hours ago, leaving you behind to fend for yourself. ‘And then, if I see him again… well, not much else I can do but officially dump his ass.’
‘So I shouldn’t feel bad for what I did?’ He stopped what he was doing as he waited for an answer.
‘Absolutely not. I can’t thank you enough for doing that.’
The both of you shared sheepish smiles before you watched him work silently for a few more minutes. The tarte frames came out of the oven in a beautifully crisp golden tone, and he mixed the chocolate into a thick mousse while the rosy syrup lay back to cool off. While the two of you remained quiet, the kitchen was anything but that as his utensils clinked around the pans. You thought back to a few hours ago and how the silence at your table had been anything but this. You had sat in a cold dread, waiting for something to snap until it inevitably did. However, you sat back comfortably here, happily watching as Sanji focused on his work.
It really was his element. While you thought the man had been exemplary at waiting tables, it was nothing compared to the ease at which he performed here. Each move he made seemed like second nature to him.
‘Do all the waiters here know how to cook like this?’ you inquired, leaning in to see how he filled the pastries up, hands in a tight grip on the piping bag.
‘The ones that are cooks do,’ he chuckled.
‘You’re a cook?’ you blinked, ‘then what were you doing out there earlier?’
‘Ah, the old shitbag that runs this place likes to torture me and send me off to do the waitin’.’ He readjusted his hold on the piping bag, briefly stopping to wipe his hand on the towel tucked between his belt.
‘Doesn’t that bother you? I’m sure you’d much rather work here.’ You certainly would. Some people could be real assholes to serve… your former date being a prime example. But Sanji simply laughed it off.
‘Nah, not when beautiful women are out there waiting to be served.’ He stopped to look up at you with a shit-eating grin, and the unseriousness dripping off of it made you blush, smile along with him and push him back by his shoulder before you would do something else much more irrational. Perhaps a bit too hard, as he lost his balance, only finding it on the counter, exactly where the piping bag had been left behind. His palm fell right over the ending, bursting out the mousse in an unfortunate mess, spilling all over him and the counter.
‘Oh no,’ you said, covering your mouth but not the giggles from it, ‘I’m so sorry.’
‘You think it’s funny, don’t you?’ He couldn’t keep his smile, but you shook your head harshly. ‘You’ll pay for this,’ he pointed his hand, covered in chocolate, at you. Several thoughts ran through your mind initially, but you managed to suppress most of them, opting for simply running your finger over the back of his hand where most of the mousse had spilt and giving it a taste.
‘That is really good.’ you hummed at the sweetness. Sanji stood back, somewhat frozen at what you had done, but quickly thawed out with a few blinks.
‘Well, what else did you expect?’ He wiped the rest of his hand on the towel at his side, ‘and I’ll have you know it’s rude to eat the food before it’s done. Takes away from the experience.’
‘I’m sorry,’ you pouted, ‘but I promise you I am still very much enjoying this whole experience.’
‘You better.’ Sanji said, taking the baking tray and putting it back in the oven for the last few minutes. With the oven door shut, he sighed and leaned against the counter opposite you. ‘Now we wait.’
‘How long exactly?’
‘In a rush, are we?’ He glanced at you from behind his hair, and the question made you heat up in the face. Because how could you explain to this practical stranger that you were feeling the opposite of what he insinuated. That you did not want this night to end at all. That being here with him, even if you were just waiting for a damn tart to bake, you were having more fun than you had had in weeks, if not longer. So, all you did was simply shake your head again.
‘It will be just a few minutes, and then gotta let it cool for a bit.’ He reassured you. That is when you noticed the bowl he had mixed the mousse in, mostly scraped clean while filling up the piping bag, but even the best chef can’t always scrape every last ounce out. Now, you might not have had any particular urge to leave any time soon, but you certainly were hungry, and having tasted just how delicious Sanji’s food was, you couldn’t help but lean in to get another little taste.
‘What do you think you’re doing?’ He said, bemused, reaching to stop you from taking another swipe of mousse onto your finger. His hand gently grabbed your wrist, but he had been too late. When he caught you, you had your hand directly over your lips, looking up at him. He glared down at you in a daring manner.
You licked the chocolate off yourself as innocently as possible without bursting into laughter.
‘I can’t believe you’d do that.’ He took a step forward, nearly closing the gap between you. The presence of his body, so close to yours, almost touching, reverberated off of you with warmth, and suddenly, you felt the breath you had taken to be stuck in the back of your throat. ‘Did you not listen to anything I just said?’ His breath was hot against your skin, and if you didn’t know any better, you would have thought it was a direct source of the skip in your heart.
‘Of course I did.’ You ignored the fast beating of your heart and the feeling like it might just burst out of your chest as you took him by the arm to give you some space and let you slide down the counter back onto your feet. ‘Something about experience and…’ you slid out from between him and the counter, and as you did so, swooped by the bowl of mousse with your finger one last time. ‘I forgot what else.’
‘You are unbelievable,’ Sanji reached for your hand, but you were quicker and manoeuvred around him and from his arm’s reach. Taunting him with the mousse, you walked around the work counters, and he, happily playing along, followed suit.
Like children, you ran around the kitchen, with him not far behind you, trying to catch you until he finally did, picking you up by the waist. Unintentionally, a squeak of a shriek came out of you, followed by both your laughs. You kept on laughing until you heard something outside the door. Heavy footsteps, freezing you both in your place until they moved on by. That is when you noted the time. Hours past midnight.
‘Are we even allowed to be in here at this time?’ You whispered as if the person who had walked by would suddenly be able to hear you.
‘Of course,’ Sanji said with confidence, but his expression juxtaposed this with signs that you could only read as “absolutely fucking not.” chances were that if you were caught in the kitchen at this time of night, you would be shot on the spot by, what did Sanji call him, the old shitbag.
But before you could run away in fear of getting caught, it was Sanji’s turn to take you by surprise. As you stood in his arms, he leaned in and wrapped his mouth around your finger, sucking all the chocolate right off. You could feel his tongue move down your knuckles and back up until he released it, leaving you stunned and wide-eyed.
‘I thought it’s rude to eat a dish before it’s done,’ you managed to sputter out.
‘So you did listen,’ he smiled, ‘but you might want to know that a good cook always tastes their dishes in the process, and that… was delicious.’
‘Are you always this humble about your cooking?’ Your heart was basically in your throat at this moment.
‘Wasn’t talking about the food,’ his tone was deep, sultry, as he leaned closer. ‘But care to give me another taste?’
Your breath was officially hitched in your throat, unable to breathe properly, as you stared at him, body flooding with heat and need for him. As words escaped you, you nodded lightly and leaned in as he did the same, meeting your lips in the middle with a kiss.
As soon as it happened, his arms found their spot on your side as you fastened yourself on his shoulders. It was nothing like you expected it to be. For a man spending his entire nights and days in the kitchen, he felt nothing like it. You could smell the cologne, taste the cigarettes and the fresh mint he used to conceal the former. His tender but firm touch held you in your place as he pressed closer.
There was a force to it, but nothing that you didn’t feel in yourself to copy as the need for him boiled deep inside you.
Your hand moved slowly up to his cheek, over to his hair at the nape of his neck.
One of his hands, in the meantime, had found your thigh, pulling it up over his leg as he squeezed your soft flesh, but before giving you a chance to even react to this new position and all its implications, Sanji moved.
Pulling apart, leaving your lips to be the last piece he detached from as he kept your bottom lip between his teeth lightly, he apologised, ‘Excuse me for a moment.’ because while you might have forgotten all about the world around you, he had still been keeping track of the tartelettes that were baking down in the oven.
He pulled the tray of pastries out with a white tea towel, practically throwing it down on the counter, discarding it with a metal clang.
‘Now we wait for them to cool,’ he explained as he got back to you.
‘And what were you planning on doing in the meantime,’ you pulled him back in by the blue ascot tie.
With his lips ghosting over yours, he half-whispered, ‘I might have a few things in mind,’ and with it, kissed you again. While the kiss itself was not much different, with that same intensity and passion running through both of you as before, now you were very much aware of what was to follow. If it wasn’t your need that spurred you on, then it was Sanji and his eagerness. Despite his chef’s uniform and the navy apron, you could feel him grow harder against you as the kiss continued. A moan escaped you as his lips travelled down to your neck, leaving sloppy kisses one by one until he reached a spot that was more sensitive than others. The simple touch sparked a fuse inside you.
As he continued playing with your sensitive skin, he led both your bodies to one of the empty tables at the side of the room, pressing you right against the edge and locking you in between it and him.
Without needing him to say a word, you understood exactly what you needed to do and climbed on top of the table, spreading your legs to make space for him right in the middle.
Your dress might have hiked up slightly over your thighs, but it wasn’t enough for Sanji, who took it upon himself to pull it up.
‘I hope you don’t mind me saying’,’ he smiled as he kissed the corner of your mouth and as his hand reached the top of your leg, ‘but I had been thinkin' about this ever since I saw you.’
‘Me too,’ you exhaled deeply, letting the confession sink in. Maybe Chosi was right after all. Now, with him out of the picture, you could admit that something had been there from the start, from the moment you caught a glimpse of the waiter cook. And if it wasn’t for all the shit that occurred that day, maybe you would have felt a twinge of guilt as you guided Sanji’s hand between your legs. If you had not shut that chapter behind you, perhaps you would have felt bad, but any insecurities of that disappeared as Sanji began to toy with your core. His slender fingers grazed slowly over your slit, putting enough pressure on it to make you arch your back in need of more.
‘Already so needy,’ he smirked. ‘And I barely touched you.’
‘Touch me then,’ you said with gritted teeth.
‘Don’t need to tell me twice.’ His fingers moved up in pace and barely went any deeper, keeping you on the edge of satisfaction. ‘And what would madame like me to do?’ He threaded his movements, and you were growing impatient with the teasing.
‘Fuck me,’ ready to hear his next question, you added, ‘I don’t care how.’
His grin only grew wider at your words. Much to your dislike, he pulled his hand away to place both at your thighs, pressing his fingers into your skin and using that as leverage to make more space for himself in between.
‘As madame wishes.’ He spoke softly right below your ear as he descended onto his knees.
The kiss he left over your panties already invoked a tremble through your entire body, and it only got worse from there, in the best sense. He pushed your underwear aside and took his time giving you all his attention and care. Kissing your core deeply until his nose pressed up against you. His tongue licked up your juices like a starving man until your eyes rolled back, and you felt weak.
The table you were perched on was empty, so you only had Sanji to hold on to. At first, you reached for his shoulder, but it was just not high enough for you to find support. As you tried to look for it, Sanji reached for your hand and brought it up to the side of his head for you to tangle your fingers in his light locks. Before you even managed to grab onto them, simply letting your nails trace over his hair, you felt the vibrations of his moans strike you. Another deep blow to your senses pulled you further down to the edge. Closer and closer until you couldn’t take it anymore. Your grip on his hair tightened as your breath grew sporadic.
‘Fuck, fuck,’ you moaned, voice filled with desperation for a release, and one that Sanji would be more than pleased to give you… just not quite yet. As he pulled away from you, you deflated with the feeling of a ruined climax and the urge to pull him back to finish what he had started, but all you could do was whimper in protest.
‘Don’t worry,’ he kissed your knee softly, ‘all in good time. I promise to take good care of you,’ and with that, he rose back up to his feet, untying his apron.
‘That was good,’ your chest still moving up and down heavily as you caught your breath. ‘Really good.’
‘It pleases me to hear that,’ he said as he threw the apron aside onto the ground. ‘And believe me, I would love to go back for seconds—’
‘Does all your pillow talk stem from restaurant jargon?’ you interrupted jokingly.
‘You laugh, and yet you’re the one begging me to fuck you.’ God, he was so cocky, with the way he stood there in front of you, his head tilted sideways, and his lip turned up in a grin that told you he knew he was right. ‘So, please, let me.’ His hand was already on his belt buckle.
There was no time or need for either of you to undress. With your dress hiked up to your hips, he already had easy enough access, and once his belt was loose, it only took a few sharp pulls for you to release him from the material restraints.
‘You ready?’ he asked.
‘For the love of god,’ grabbing him by the arm, you pulled him in, ‘stop talking and just take me.’ You knew he was about to respond, but before he got the chance to make another absurdly silly but nonetheless flirtatious comment, you shit him up with a kiss. Just like that, the two of you melted into one another. Sanji made himself comfortable between you and let his lips wander down to your neck again, to that one spot he found that drove you crazy.
He kept kissing your neck as he finally slid into you. The two feelings made your body go weak, melting you into a puddle of burning nerves as he spread your walls and filled you up perfectly.
First, he moved slowly, but with each thrust, he sped up more and more, putting more force into it until you were both shaking with ferocity, and the table underneath you scratched over the planks it stood upon. The sound of the tortured floor was the only thing covering up both your moans and that of the messy skin-to-skin contact.
While he practically pounded into you, you reached for his hair again. There was just something about it: how messy you managed to make it with a few tugs and brushstrokes. All of it, how he acted and reacted, it was all in response to you. Just how he made you see stars with each move he made.
‘Feels so good, fuck,’ he groaned over your shoulder as you grabbed for his, pulling him closer if possible. He had your legs pressed against his sides. He shook his head quickly, letting the hair flick out of his sight, but the attempt was poor as the lock quickly fell back over his eye despite his efforts.
‘San–’ you moaned, ‘Sanji–’
‘That’s right,’ he might as well have been kissing you, so close were his lips to you, but instead, the only thing you truly felt was his hot breath on your skin as he kept going deeper and harder. ‘Gonna come for me? His voice got even deeper the longer he kept going. At the sound of it, your nails dug into his back, his striped shirt being the only thing saving him from possibly some nasty scratches, but it seemed to only spur him on more. ‘I–’ you gasped out as you felt him hit the deepest part of you.
‘Yeah?’
‘I’m close, fuck.’ the pit in your stomach tightened, your muscles strained as you tried to hold on to that feeling of pleasure he brought over you. The tension built up like a band being pulled tighter and tighter, ready to snap at any moment; he had you in his grip, waiting to let go of you at the exact right time. All you needed was that touch, just the right one in the right spot.
You could feel it all. Could feel just how close he was himself as his thrusts got sloppier, and his breathing grew heavier and rougher between his words. ‘Yeah, c’mon. I know you can do it. Come all over my cock. ‘’s gonna feel so good, I promise you.’
The encouragement might not have been necessarily what did it. It was more like a concoction of things that all led to this precise moment when ecstasy overtook your body and washed over you like a hot flash. Sanji was not far behind you, riding his high as he ensured you got to yours. His movements slowed down as you felt the cum slick down your thighs. While you both caught your breath, it became quiet once more.
It took you a bit longer to catch up on air in your lungs, and so while you closed your eyes and focused on your breathing, you heard Sanji zip his trousers back up and lightly walk across the aisle between the workstations. When you opened your eyes again, he was making his way back to you already, a handful of paper towels in his hand.
Despite the burn you already felt in your sore muscles, you spread your legs one last time to give him access to clean you up. His soft touches to your sensitive core now were in stark contrast to what he had been doing to you moments ago, but the cold of the damp towel brought a nice sense of comfort.
‘You think you can stand up for me?’ he asked gently, and the little words in that tone were enough to make your heart flutter.
‘Yeah, I think so.’ You said, but that was quickly proven wrong when your knees buckled almost immediately when your feet touched the ground. It was only because of the way that Sanji held your arm that you had not completely toppled over.
‘Woah, alright.’ He smiled, never letting go of you, ‘How about we just sit for now.’ Slowly, he guided you to sit on the ground, back against a cabinet. ‘Water?’
You nodded in agreement. The question had made you realise just how parched you were.
‘Still, sparkling, mineral?’
‘Surprise me.’ You said through a tired smile at the reference to how he waited on you earlier, but moments later, you reminded yourself of your preference, ‘just not sparkling! It just tastes foul.’
‘Anything but sparkling water, coming right up.’ He moved around the room to pour you some surprise water, and while he did so, you pressed your face into your hands, laughing at the absurdity of it all. Less than 12 hours ago, you had been walking up the deck, arm in arm, with your good-for-nothing boyfriend, soon-to-be fiance. Now you sat on the ground of a restaurant kitchen, with no idea where said–now ex–-boyfriend was in the world, coming down from one of the best orgasms you had ever received… all by the hand of a stranger. A handsome stranger at that. One that you could imagine seeing much more of in the future, but it was all just too silly.
And you were tired. And hungry.
‘Voila,’ Sanji appeared in front of you with impeccable timing, a large ice-cold looking glass in one hand, filled with ice cubes and cucumber, and two plates in the other hand. The rose and chocolate meringue tartes look particularly inviting. ‘Thought you might finally want to try one,’ he said as he handed you a plate and fork.
‘I swear, you’re a godsend.’ No matter in how much need you were of a drink, the sight of the dessert made your mouth water.
‘Ah, just a little something sweet for—’
‘If you’re going to say what I think you’re going to say, I will shove this tarte in your face.’ One could only endure so much of this sappy flirting, even if you found it very endearing. Sanji shut his mouth and sat beside you, poking his fork into his portion.
The two of you ate quickly but still took enough time to appreciate the flavours that oozed out of the pastry and its filling. The moan you made as it all reached your tastebuds might have been more pornographic than any sound you made while he had been deep inside you.
‘Mmm, this is delicious,’ you said through another bite. The praise brought a huge smile to the cook’s lips. ‘Seriously, thank you. For everything.’
‘It’s been my pleasure,’ he spoke in a way that almost made you think he was getting shy on you. That felt unlikely, but you let him process it all for a moment as you kept eating.
Only once you had eaten everything off your plate did you ask your next question of the evening. ‘How did you know I would like this?’
‘It’s a chef’s best trait,’ he pulled the fork out of his mouth with a pop, ‘to be able to read their customers well. To be able to tell what they like or dislike; to know them better than they know themselves.’
‘But how?’ With intrigue, you moved closer to him. He had been leaning against the same cupboard as you, one of his knees raised up and an arm hanging casually over it. His hair was still messy, falling over his eye. ‘How could you tell I would enjoy this specific dish?’
The one unobstructed eye fell over you, looking up and down over your body as his mischievous smile reappeared. ‘It felt fitting.’
‘How so?’ You blinked, confused as to what he meant.
‘Sweet, decadent and hot; what’s there not to like? I mean—’ he leaned in over his arm to kiss you, feather-light. Then, he hummed as he pulled back. ‘It is an absolutely divine combination.’
Your cheeks burned up for what felt like the millionth time that evening, and you could not dare keep looking at him as he stared down at you with that innate hunger. That kind that could only be filled with one thing, and it just so happened to have wholly exhausted you.
‘Is this still all part of that special of yours?’
To this, Sanji shrugged, ‘Depends.’
‘On what?’
‘On how long you want to keep me around.’ He scraped some leftover mousse from his plate, licking it off his fork.
‘I think for a while,’ you admitted. Yeah, you definitely hadn’t had enough of him yet.
‘Well, then there’s so much more I can do for you, madame.’
one piece men react to you screaming their full name
Tumblr media
ft. Ace, Zoro, Sanji
SFW, mentions of alcohol and smoking, gn reader
𖤐⭒๋࣭ ⭑ .ᐟ ᡣ𐭩
Ace
“PORTGAS D. ACE” your voice resonates through all the walls, rooms and every nook and cranny from the Moby Dick. The mentioned stood frozen at the dinner table fork still full of food, he knew better than to run away
“What did you do now?” Marco asked eyes wide open
“Nothing!… that I remember” Ace scratched the back of his head trying to make memory of his recent activities, searching for whatever may had upset you
Marco laughed in disbelief “You’re a dead man” he said before taking another sip of his drink
You entered the room, stomping your way to your clueless boyfriend “May I have a word with you?” The tone and the politeness of the sentence made Marco fear for his dear friend. Ace nodded before he stood up and followed behind smile beaming in hopes you’ll have some mercy. A chorus of teasing ‘UUUUH’s were heard as you exited the dining room.
“Have I told you how radiant you look today?” Ace leaned over to kiss your cheek but you ducked making him loose his balance
“Don’t start with me Portgas” a shiver ran down Ace’s back, both from fear and… something else.
“You did this” you held a pillow cover in front of his face “You burned my only bed sheets, and you’re getting me new ones even if you end up in debt with everyone on this ship”
Ace was attracted to you all the time, but there was something in the way you would always stand your ground and how gorgeous you looked right now that was knocking him out of his feet. He placed his hand in the one were you held the pillow cover and pulled you in for a hug
“Im sorry sweetheart I’d get you new ones on the next island, you can borrow mine for now” you rolled your eyes and sighed, he got you wrapped all around his finger and he knew it, you couldn’t be mad at him for long
“Of course I’m taking yours, you sleep at my bed every night anyways… but wash them first” Ace picked you up and pampered your face with kisses “You look so hot when you’re angry
Zoro
“RORONOA ZORO” you screamed while exiting to the deck where he was working out, all of the straw hats looked back at Zoro in fear, Sanji holding in a laugh
Few things made this man flinch but he couldn’t help but catch himself lose balance when he heard his full name exit your lips in such an angry tone followed by your big stumps getting louder as you got closer
Everyone wrapped up whatever they were doing and ran off to the kitchen, leaving Zoro to face his demise alone
“What now?” He played it off trying to sound as nonchalant as he could not even looking your direction
“How many times have I asked you to not leave your sake around my desk?” If looks could kill your boyfriend would be a dead man
“Where am I supposed to put it then?” He scoffed crossing his arms in front of his chest, he looked at you for a second and his heart clenched at the cute way your brows furrowed and your arms rested on your hips
“Oh! I don’t know maybe, just getting silly here, IN THE PANTRY WHERE IT BELONGS!” Zoros condecency was driving you insane making your tone scale
The swordsman noticed how you were getting tense and teardrops threaten to run down your cheeks, he sighed a little embarrassed he had made you this upset. He cupped your cheeks while he apologized in that soft tone he reserved just for you
“I’m sorry I forgot to put it away last night, it won’t happen again I promise” he drew comforting circles around your cheek as he whispered
“It got all over my notebooks” oh so that’s why you were so shaken up
“I’ll clean it up baby” your boyfriend kissed your forehead as he made his way to the kitchen for a towel, as he opened the door every crew member fell comically on top of each other, they were ears dropping as they do.
Before Zoro could complain, your sweet laugh was heard at the distance which made him smile a little “You should listen to her mosshead” Sanji muttered which made the swordsman’s smile drop and scream back at him
Sanji
“BLACK LEG SANJI” even though you were screaming at him, the cook couldn’t help but feel his heart flutter at the way you wouldn’t use his birth last name as you knew he despised it and what it stand for, instead raging while using his public name.
You stormed in the kitchen eyes fixed on him, even angry Sanji thought you were breathtaking
“Yes my world?” he beamed a smile at you which you didn’t know if it annoyed or charmed you
“What have I said about smoking indoors?” Sanji felt the air get stuck in his throat, his eyes drifted from yours in shame
“I uhm-“ he laughed nervously as you got closer and closer cornering him against the counter, both hands caging him while they rested on said counter
“You know damn well I hate when my clothes smell like cigarettes, now imagine how I feel when my whole room stinks” you grabbed Sanjis tie to move his face closer to yours without breaking eye contact, you knew exactly what to do to make him a nervous wreck
The blondes heart couldn’t help but skip several beats at the way you were acting right now, he felt bad about upsetting you but he could get used to this side of you
“My apologies love, you know I cant manage to go without a smoke and sometimes I don’t want to leave your side” he twitched when his gaze met yours as he tried to explain himself
“Well you better start to manage” with a torturous slow move you took the cigarette that hanged from your boyfriends lips and threw it on the floor before stepping on it to take it out “Or I’ll move out of the room” you smiled teasingly while exploring his handsome features, stopping at his lips.
The cook turned all shades of red and pink breathing heavily, squirming a “Yes ma’m” before you kissed him passionately and breaking it abruptly
You winked at him before leaving the poor poor man absolutely stunted and a hot mess
You've never really dreamed for yourself. You had always just let life fall into place around you.
The kingdom is prospering, entering a new age of commerce. Artists, craftsmen, and inventors sail seas just to be part of it.
Your sister Chrysanth is a wise queen, as you always knew she would be. She’s fair and just, always knowing what’s best for her people.
On the other hand, your brother August is Captain of the Royal Guard. He’s an excellent swordsman, who has yet to be beaten ever since he took command.
As for you, the youngest of the three, you have no idea what you’re doing.
The most likely outcome would be for you to be married off to settle some political arrangement. Unpleasant as it sounds, you would have agreed to it for the sake of the kingdom.
But the moment you said so, Chrysanth gave you a look unbecoming of a queen and immediately shut it down.
“Look,” She gestured to the view outside. “Does that seem like a kingdom who needs help to you? I work my butt off precisely so that we won’t have to depend on anyone else.”
“Besides,” She adds, “if anyone wants your hand, they should fight to the death for it.”
And so, for now, you work for your sister. Helping manage general affairs and the kingdom’s business agreements—even though she could easily hire someone else.
“I love that you insist on working,” Your brother told you once. “You could have been a socialite, but you’re here with us, serving the people.”
Of course you are. Because even though you didn’t necessarily plan it, you are proud and committed to your work. You’re happy with your own, mundane accomplishments.
Or at least that’s what you try to remember when you glance at the tall pile of documents on your desk. You’ll relish the satisfaction that will come when it’s gone.
The candle beside you burns low, flame becoming dimmer and dimmer as the hour grows late. You should probably replace that. Pulling open your drawer, your eyes scan its contents for a candle.
You’re fresh out of the tall ones that fit in the candleholder, but you have one sculpted like a cinnamon bun—a gift from August a few birthdays ago. It’s not exactly the best for illuminating your work, but something makes you strike a match and light it still.
It smells like freshly baked cinnamon rolls, you can’t help but inhale the decadent scent deeply.
The aroma triggers an embarrassing grumble from your stomach. You feel your ears burn despite the fact that no one else is around to have heard it. Perhaps a midnight snack is in order.
Unexpectedly, light seeps through the gap beneath the large wooden double doors to the kitchen. In all your years, you’ve never encountered anyone in the kitchen at two in the morning.
Normally, you wouldn’t want to disturb them. Knowing the chefs, they would likely fuss over you and put whatever they were doing on hold.
But you fear that your stomach will disagree with that, so you decide to knock and enter the kitchen anyway.
There’s only one chef inside—a tall, blond man with his back to you. You don’t think you recognize him. He must be one of the new hires.
When he hears your footsteps on the stone tiles, he turns around.
His expression, at first, is curious. But after a beat, his mouth curves into a charming grin that catches you completely off guard.
“Hello there, miss.” He nods in greeting, eyes alight with a look that no one usually dares when it comes to you.
“I’d be happy to fix up something for you if there’s anything you’re… craving.”
When you expected the chef to fuss over you, this isn’t what you meant.
Your first instinct is to look at his surroundings for alcohol. Perhaps he’s intoxicated and not in his right mind?
But the (sober) chef seems to have mistaken your silence for bashfulness, because he presses you further, “Trust me. I may be new around here, but I know my stuff.”
Unsure how to respond to his blatant (or insolent, your sister would say) behavior, you try to gently decline his offer.
“It’s alright,” You say, still uncertain about him. “I was only going to make a sandwich and be on my way.”
“Nonsense!” He insists. “If you’re hungry at this hour, it means you’ve been busy working too hard.”
He approaches the pantry, retrieving one too many things for a mere sandwich. Your concern grows when he grabs garlic, several leafy vegetables, and a lemon.
“You, my dear,” He points at you with, is that a cucumber? “—deserve a proper treat.”
You sigh, it looks like he doesn’t intend to back down. Maybe you should just let him do what he wants and see if he can back up all the talk. Pulling one of the chairs from beneath the kitchen island, you take a seat as you observe the flirtatious chef.
At least he seems to be enjoying himself. His hands work with the kind of precision that only comes from years of experience; and he smiles proudly when he sees you watching.
“I meant what I said, I’m a damn good cook.” He’s begun chopping the vegetables. “My name’s Sanji, by the way.”
The question now is whether or not you properly introduce yourself. It's difficult to deny that you enjoy his attention. The casual and relaxed manner he addresses you with is… a nice kind of different. When else are you going to experience that if you let this go?
Alright. For tonight, you're not a princess. You're someone who stumbled upon a chef—a handsome one, it dawns on you. This is a chance encounter in the palace kitchens. And, you glance over at the dressing and ingredients he prepared, why should you turn down good food?
You decide to only give him your name. It feels strange introducing yourself without your title, but you don't tell him that.
“It makes sense that your name is as captivating as you are.” Sanji's voice is smooth, easygoing as he moves around the kitchen.
Nothing about his demeanor changes. Either he really doesn't know anything about this country's royalty, or he's skillfully controlled his reaction and is hiding that he knows.
There's also a third possibility: that you look so haggard and tired that you simply do not appear royal anymore.
Subconsciously, you look at your typical office clothes… Maybe you should go on that fitting the royal stylist has been pestering you about.
On the topic of style, however, your companion has unusual attire for a chef. He’s wearing a buttoned shirt with a necktie. His black slacks match the suit jacket draped over one of the chairs.
Your attention is diverted when Sanji begins rolling up his sleeves. He juices the lemon he had sliced in half, arms flexing as he twists the fruit.
Clearing your throat, you ask him a question to distract yourself. “What are you making?”
He smiles as if he’s glad you asked. “A dish that suits a beauty like you, of course.”
Several minutes later, he presents you with a sandwich. The slices of bread are whole wheat; the layers of ingredients between them are all in varying shades of green.
“A green goddess sandwich, made with care for the goddess in front of me.” Sanji pushes the plate towards you.
It's easy to stay composed despite the flattery because your hunger makes you focus on the food. “It really does look excellent.” You compliment earnestly.
He gestures to the plate before placing his hands in his pockets. “Tastes excellent too, try it.” Shaking your head at how confident he’s being, you pick up the sandwich.
It might just be the best sandwich you’ve ever had in your life. The flavors are fresh, and you catch the hints of lemon blending with the dressing. The bread is soft, contrasting with the crunch of the cucumbers and sprouts.
You're completely surprised, and it must be obvious based on how Sanji reacts. He lets out an adorable, pleased laugh that makes you want to hear it again.
“I knew you’d like it, ma chèrie.” Sanji reaches a hand towards your face. Your heart just about stops when he brushes his thumb to wipe at the corner of your mouth. His eyes look so intense, like you'll drown in them if you stare too much.
It feels as if your face could burst into flames at any second, so you turn away to hide your flush.
As Sanji grabs you a glass of water, you ask him if he’s eaten. “I did, but it’s nice that you’re worried about me.” He answers. You almost choke on your drink.
Once you've finished your meal, you stand then grab your empty plate and glass. But Sanji mirrors you, blocking the way to the sink. Why must a chef have such broad shoulders?
He shakes his head, trying to get the dishes from you. “Can’t let you do that, love.”
“Why not?” You frown, pulling your arms back so he doesn’t reach them.
“It’s late. You shouldn’t be working any more—”
“But you’re allowed to?” You look up at him defiantly.
Sanji stares at you. You stare back. There's a few seconds of silence before you sprint the other way, running around the kitchen island to get to a different sink.
“Oh, no you don’t!” Sanji yells after you.
You’re almost there, but Sanji catches up to you easily. Before you know it, he’s blocking the way again and you curse, remembering his long legs.
“Sanji, let me do the dishes.” You plead, but he’s as stubborn as it gets.
“The knives I used need to be washed anyway, and I’m not about to let your pretty hands do that.” Sanji winks, and you give up. He pries the dishes from your hands.
Seeing your shoulders slump disappointedly, he offers you a compromise. “If you really want, you could throw the rubbish in the bin and wipe down the counters.” Okay, you can do that.
“Are you sure this is the only way I can repay you?” You ask, grabbing a washcloth to begin cleaning up.
“That’s plenty of help, my dear.” Sanji answers.
But after a moment, he seems to have gotten an idea. Your brows raise in curiosity as you question him, “What?”
“...I was just wondering,” He begins, looking at you with that flirtatious glint in his eye. “Since we had such a wonderful time tonight, would you be willing to join me again?”
“That depends,” You press your lips together to suppress the smile blooming on your lips. “Will you cook for me again?”
Sanji laughs, throwing his head back. “Darling, that’s a given.”
He gazes at you while he dries his hands. There’s a grin on his face as he asks, like he already knows your answer. He probably does. He’s probably right.
“Same time tomorrow?”
Even though you got back to your chambers at an ungodly hour in the morning, you woke up feeling the most refreshed you’ve ever been. There’s a spring in your step as you get ready for the day, and you pick clothes that are slightly more dressy than your usual attire. Sanji shouldn’t be able to notice that you dressed up for him, right?
But your sister does.
Seated at the head of the table, Chrysanth stops eating to analyze your clothes the instant you show up to the dining hall for breakfast.
You could practically hear the gears in her head turning. Avoiding her gaze, you bow to greet her before taking your seat, “Good morning.”
The queen only smiles at you knowingly, eyes still flickering over you with enraptured excitement. Very much unlike a queen, however, she kicks your shin underneath the table.
“Ow!” You yelp.
“So…” She lets the syllable drag on. “Who’s the guy?”
You focus on piling food onto your plate, choosing to ignore her. “What guy?”
“Your guy.” She says, giddy. “Is he your guy yet?”
“Hm?” Is your only response. Breakfast looks lovely. Should you ask for coffee or tea today?
Chrysanth kicks you again.
“Hey!” You rub the skin to dull the pain. “Stop that!”
“Stop avoiding the question!” She persists, waving a hand to gesture at your clothes. “You only wear that skirt when you want to impress someone.”
Mentally cursing her for knowing you too well, you continue to act nonchalant.
“Really, it’s nothing.” You try to clarify. “I just thought that it would be a nice change.”
She doesn't believe it. Not one bit of it. Thankfully though, she drops the topic. Your shoulders relax as the discussion switches to work-related ones. She’s telling you about her plans to approve a restaurant in the museum when your brother joins you for breakfast.
Once he’s seated, August takes one look at you before tilting his head. “Who’s the guy?”
Chrysanth looks far too smug and triumphant than you’d like. You bury your face in your hands. Would Sanji also tease you if he knew?
The rest of the day is uneventful, the only change to your typical work day being that you avoid your siblings like the plague. You have lunch brought to your office and skip on dinner.
Sanji had already started cooking by the time you got to the kitchen. “I hope you don’t mind,” He says. Of course you don’t, whatever it is smells amazing. “I thought I’d start early so you wouldn’t have to wait too long.”
“Thank you for going through the trouble.” You say, glancing at the ingredients he had laid out: there are crushed tomatoes on the counter. Pasta simmers in a pot on the stove. You recognize the tubed shapes with ridges surrounding them.
“Rigatoni?” You ask, turning to the chef.
Sanji nods, “With a simple, creamy tomato sauce. Nothing too extravagant, but still specially made for you.”
He puts the pasta into two bowls, grating parmesan cheese on top. Your mouth waters.
“Here you are, darling.” It pleases you more than you thought it would when Sanji sits across from you to eat as well.
There’s something homey and yet luscious about the taste. He really outdid himself. “It’s delicious, Sanji.”
“I live to please.” Sanji says before standing to retrieve two wine glasses and a bottle of red. “Zweigelt.” He says as he pours for you both. “Juicy and fresh, with just the right amount of acidity.”
You almost swoon at the rasp in his voice. You never realized someone could be so attractive when talking about wine.
As he clinks his glass with yours, you think to yourself that this might be your favorite dish from him. However, true to his word, he surpasses your expectations every time.
After a few weeks, on your sixth (or is it seventh?) time meeting Sanji past midnight, you've reached the point where you're able to open up to each other beyond the pleasantries that come with the food.
He tells you about his dream of traveling the seas in search for the best ingredients the world has to offer. You admit how you sometimes feel like life is just taking you along with the current—that you’ve never had a burning, passionate dream to aspire to.
“I don’t think that’s a bad thing,” Sanji hums contemplatively. “There aren’t any deadlines when it comes to finding dreams.”
“I do worry that you’re working yourself to the bone, though.” He adds, and for once, his smile looks different somehow. It’s a fond, gentle smile that’s sweeter than the macarons he made for you.
“What do you mean?” You take a sip of water.
“While I'm flattered you enjoy my food so well, do you eat properly? Shouldn't the palace be treating you better?” This time, you actually choke on your drink.
Could it get more embarrassing than this? Your ears burn as you cough, trying to clear your throat and settle your heart.
“Breathe, love." Sanji, ever the gentleman, is next to you in a flash of a second. He pats your back gently and supportively. “I'm sorry if I startled you.”
“It's alright—and, I do eat,” Your voice comes out raspy. “It's just that I don't usually have an appetite for dinner.”
“But that leaves you hungry for a midnight snack?” Sanji asks, a knowing expression on his face as he refills your glass.
“Exactly.” You smile. Thankfully, your throat has calmed down. Picking up a vanilla-flavored macaron, you savor the taste that melts sweetly on your tongue. Returning to his chair across from you, Sanji watches you eat happily.
“I take pride in my desserts, but that chocolatier in Belltower street… The sweets are just—out of this world, I tell you.” He looks so excited as he talks, eyes aglow and gestures animated. “The chocolates are handmade and everything. I'm sure you've heard of it?”
“Um…” Hesitating, you certainly remember issuing a business permit for a chocolatier; but you can’t say you’ve gone there yourself.
Sanji’s eyes widen in disbelief. “Surely you’re pulling my leg. You haven’t been?”
“...”
He observes you quietly, like he's considering what to do next. There have been instances when Sanji stays quiet, doesn't eat, and only watches you chew. The times where he insists that he's content with seeing you eating well. Those were awkward at first, but you learned that was just part of spending time with him. Your reaction was a reward on its own.
But this isn't like that. Something feels oddly different in the way he seems to be gathering his composure. The silence almost worries you, but thankfully he breaks it first.
“You’ve saved me the trouble of thinking of a place to take you to.” Laughing, Sanji practically glows in elation. “You’ll love it, I promise.”
You had a peculiar sense that you would’ve loved going anywhere, as long as you were with him.
Feeling bold, you suggest, “I’m free this Saturday if that’s good for you?”
He gives you that soft, enamoured look again. Something makes you hold your breath, your fingers tingle and the entire rest of the world slows down. You’re almost certain you’re giving him the same look.
“Even if I wasn’t, love, I would have gone to you anyway.”
The next day, a Thursday, your brother unexpectedly knocks on your office door.
“Hey,” You smile. “Is something wrong?”
It’s rare for August to look for you in the middle of the day. If either of you need to speak, it’s usually you who heads into the training grounds to talk to him. The other way around occurring is curious.
“I wanted to invite you to watch the knights train this Saturday.” He says coolly. “It would boost their morale if you spoke a few words.”
The commander goes on to speak, not catching that you’ve short circuited somewhat, trying to rack your brain for a valid excuse to decline him.
“And maybe, you could pick out a personal knight like I’ve been telling you.” August prompts. “You really should—”
When he pauses, squinting his eyes at you suspiciously, you suddenly recall why you stopped trying to hide anything from him.
“You already have plans.” He says, face carefully blank.
“Yes.” Thank goodness he understood. But wait, his eyes are widening. Why is he making that face? Why is he looking at you like he just figured out—
“You have a date.” Darn it all.
August is bewildered, not knowing what to do with the information he put together. He awkwardly brushes his fingers through his hair.
“...Is he a good guy, at least?” He settles with, asking carefully in that concerned way he does when he looks out for you.
Biting your lip, you nod. “He seems to be, so far.”
“Okay.” August responds. “Does Chrysanth know?”
“It’s nothing serious.” Yet. Yet? Do you want it to be? “You’re the first I’ve told.”
A worrying thought suddenly pops in your mind. Your turn to him, distressed. “Please don’t tell her yet, August.”
“Why?” His frown deepens, like he’s about to ask more questions. Unfortunately for him, you decide you’ve had enough talking about Sanji to your brother for today.
“Aren’t you busy?” You grab his arm, guiding him out of your office. “Don’t you have training to get to?”
“I do, but—why can't Chrysanth know?” You open the door for him and try to push him out, but August plants his feet; still trying to figure you out. He doesn’t budge an inch.
But then he makes that face again. That annoying ‘aha!’ face.
“You really need to go, good luck with training! Tell the knights I said hi—” You manage to shove him out with all your strength, but at the last second before you close the door, August turns around again.
“He’s a commoner, isn’t he?” You slam the door at his face.
It doesn't matter. Sanji's status will never matter to you. Not when he's holding your hand so sweetly while he guides you through the winding streets of the city. You recognize some shops by name, knowing who owns what and when they established their business. But Sanji knows these streets, and he's more than happy to show you.
“Ah, one moment, my dear.” Sanji pulls you towards a quaint little cart overflowing with flowers. He flicks a coin to the vendor, eyes scanning all the vibrant colors and bursting petals.
Somehow, without you needing to tell him, he picks one in your favorite color. You're starting to feel like that's just part of being with Sanji—that he knows what you want, and knows what you need before you do.
The flower is soon tucked into your hair, behind your ear. His fingers linger on the side of your face—and normally, you'd break eye contact and shy away. Maybe let out a halfhearted excuse that you should continue on your way. But you don't.
You smile back at him, not bothering to hide the genuine happiness you feel. And when Sanji pulls back, you're already holding out your hand before he reaches for it. There’s something in his eyes. Something that makes you feel like you're walking on air when he tugs you along again.
As planned, Sanji takes you to the chocolatier he told you about. The building is small, tucked between larger shops in the middle of a busy street, but there’s no doubting the quality of their confections.
The elderly chef behind the counter greets Sanji like a grandson she hasn’t seen in forever. She ushers him in, enthusiastically pointing to this and that, saying she moved some furniture around as he suggested.
“It looks perfect, grand-mère.” Sanji smiles, taking in the beautiful glass display. Chocolates of every flavor cover the shelves from end to end.
Grand-mère’s eyes light up when she sees you. She casts an approving look at Sanji, “I like this one. She might even be too good for you.”
“That’s because she is.” Sanji laughs, and you pretend to browse the menu while they talk.
“No need for that, ma chèrie.” The menu is plucked from your hands. Sanji sets it aside, pointing instead to where grand-mère is behind the counter. She's wrapping up a box of chocolates that she hands to you.
“No need to pay, dear.” She smiles, patting your hand. “If he ever gives you trouble, let me know.”
Sanji whisks you away through the streets again. You've never been this far into the city before. Looking back at the path you've taken and not recognizing any of it, you know you’d be absolutely lost without Sanji by your side.
“Almost there.” He tells you, pointing to a cobbled path that inclines upwards.
What meets you at the top of the path is a small clearing. A stunning tree with blossoms on its branches stands at the center. Flowers and petals flutter away and fall onto the iron bench beneath it.
“Sanji, this is lovely...” You trail off, letting go of his hand to catch a flower into your palms. The flower twirls delicately between your fingers before you turn back to Sanji, tucking the blossom into the pocket of his suit.
Sanji takes your hand before you can pull away, bending down to press a kiss to your knuckles.
“Not nearly as lovely as you.”
The two of you spent hours under that tree, sharing chocolates and stories—feeling like this is how things are supposed to be. Not necessarily the flowers, or the chocolates, or even the sun setting beautifully in so many warm colors.
Just Sanji. With you, next to you.
All at once, it sinks in that he could be the dream you've been waiting for. But you don't tell him that.
Being enlightened on your feelings for Sanji becomes a second thought, however, when you’re swamped with work the following week.
“Don’t these people ever get tired?” Chrysanth groans, leaning back on her chair. “Why is planning a festival so hard?”
You approach her desk and place another stack of documents onto it. The numerous piles are getting concerning.
She scowls at the papers, then scowls at you. “Don’t you ever get tired?”
“Of course I do.” You tap a stack of documents to her left. “The guest list for the ball needs to be approved by tonight so we can send invitations out.” She groans again, but picks up the list anyway.
You’re unable to see Sanji as often as you’d like, but you both promised to meet once a week. Even if it’s only for a few short heartbeats together.
You dearly miss him. You think about him as you hand Chrysanth menu plans for the ball. If he saw it, he’d say that he could come up with something better.
She glances at the menu, studying it. Or at least, that’s what you thought she was doing—until her next words proved you wrong.
“So, how are you and that chef doing?”
Your heart isn’t in your chest anymore. It sank down, deep into the depths of the earth. It also must have taken all the air in the room along with it. How did she—
“August?” You blurt out.
Chrysanth shakes her head, “Zeff.” Oh no. Sanji’s boss knows? Does Sanji know that you’re—
“According to Zeff,” She proceeds, cutting off your thoughts. “One of his subordinates has been cooking a lot of personal meals over the last few weeks.”
“I can explain—” But your sister holds up a hand. Your mouth snaps shut.
She calls your name, and then you realize how serious her tone is. “Are you familiar with the kitchen’s rules when it comes to using ingredients and supplies for personal use?”
“...I’m afraid I'm not.” You didn’t know the kitchen had any such rules… but surely Sanji does. Your voice stutters, “I, did—is he in trouble?”
“He isn’t.” She answers, though her expression is still grave. “But I think that you should be aware of how much he’s doing for you.”
Chrysanth opens a drawer to retrieve a list of kitchen rules. Reading it over, everything is standard and straight to the point. You find the answer to your confusion towards the end, a small, nondescript bullet that reads:
All staff must reimburse the cost of all ingredients used for any reason outside of official duties.
“He must know who I am, then.” You say, feeling relieved that he didn’t break some sort of impossible rule. “He wouldn’t have done so much for me if he didn’t.”
Your sister purses her lips, letting the silence linger for a second before responding, “He doesn’t know, love.” She hands you another document. “He’s been paying back every cent out of pocket.”
Tracing over the timestamps and the different ingredients listed, you stare at an outline of your time with Sanji. It’s nice to reminisce, but you can’t help but wince whenever you spot something particularly pricey. What on earth are you to do with this man?
“Zeff recognized your name when he asked Sanji who he was cooking for.” Chrysanth explains. “He didn’t tell him, but he came to me and requested for Sanji to be repaid.”
“Since anything served to me counts as official duties of a royal chef.” You piece together.
“Exactly.” Chrysanth nods. “However, doing that would expose your title to him. Which is why I wanted to speak to you about this first… You should tell him.”
“I know.” Letting out a deep sigh, you agree. Sanji deserves to know more than anything. Nevertheless, the thought of him changing how he treats you—or worse, leaving—because of your status, frightens you to your core.
“I’ll talk to him tonight.” You say, but your sister’s expression slowly changes. What did she plan this time?
“Or maybe, you could put the kitchen dates on pause and tell him in a few weeks.” Surprisingly, she hands you an invitation to the ball.
“I can’t bring Sanji as my date.” No matter how much you wish you could.
“Are you sure about that?” Chrysanth is unable to contain her grin. “Open it!”
‘…you are cordially invited to the spring masquerade ball.’
You gasp, “You turned it into a masquerade?”
“Yes, I did. You won’t believe how much convincing it took for the ministers to agree.” She rolls her eyes, but then her smile returns. “Don’t waste my hard work and have fun with your man, littlest sister.”
You laugh, not expecting this outcome after all that. “I love you, even if you made me go through so much emotional turmoil for fun.” She cackles.
“Of course I had to make you sweat after what you put me through.” Chrysanth scoffs, “I can’t believe I had to hear about your love life from Zeff, of all people.”
“Ah,” She says, remembering something. “Speaking of, why’d you guess August first earlier?”
“...”
“...Did you tell him before me?” She gasps. “How could you! Give that invite back!”
“I didn’t think you’d approve.” You admit shyly. “He’s a commoner.”
“If he treats you well—which, he obviously does—I could care less about all that.” Chrysanth reaches for your hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze. “Only those stuck up ministers will react negatively, I’m sure. We can deal with them easily enough.”
When she lets you go, she abruptly adds, “He better be cute though.”
That sends you laughing again. “Oh, Chrysanth, he’s the cutest!”
He certainly is. Especially when he sees you and grins, opening his arms wide in expectation. You fall into his embrace when you’re near enough.
Sanji takes your hand and places it on his arm, leading you away from the kitchens.
“Some of the others are still in there planning for the ball.” He explains. “It seems preparations are keeping us both busy.”
Sanji takes you to the greenhouse, which you’ve never seen at night before. Various patches of vegetables and shrubs line the space. There are trees and flowers towards the back too. It feels like a secret hideout, being here with Sanji.
“I miss spending more time with you, love.” He whispers.
“Me too.” Your heart melts thinking about how much he gave for you. You wish you had the courage to tell him the truth now, while he’s looking at you like you put up the stars in the sky, but you can’t. You’re not ready yet.
Reaching your hands up, you caress his face gently, brushing your thumb across his cheek. He places his hands over yours, keeping them there.
Sanji closes his eyes to savor the moment, and you let him. You two stay like that, your hands becoming enveloped in so much of Sanji you feel like you could recognize him with your eyes closed, with a single touch.
There’s a certain familiarity to him at this point. You would probably have some difficulty adjusting back to life without him in it. He’s so familiar that you could probably draw him. He makes you want to try.
“...I was just wondering,” You say with a knowing glint in your eye. Does he remember those words when he said them to you that first night? “We’ve been working hard for this ball, wouldn’t it be a shame not to enjoy it together?”
You give him the invitation, and he throws his head back laughing. You send him a confused look, but it all becomes clear when he pulls out an identical invitation from his jacket.
“Ah, how brilliant you are, mamour.” Sanji embraces you again, and you bask in how perfect it feels to tuck your head into the curve of his neck.
“It will be easy to find you even with a mask.” You murmur into his skin. He shivers. “You’re so goddamn tall it’s not fair.”
“I’m not too worried about you finding you, either.” Sanji begins to sway slowly with you still in his arms. It makes your heart skip a beat. You can’t wait to dance with him.
“Are you confident you’ll find me first, then?” You ask, adjusting your hold around his middle to snuggle in better.
“I’m not sure about being first,” He ponders. “But I’ll be sure it’s you when I find you.”
The greenhouse became your new meeting place while the palace was buzzing to prepare for the ball. You could only meet for a few minutes, but you treasured the time you shared just the same.
Once, Sanji tried to feed you one of the expensive fruits growing there, but you declined, making up an excuse that you were allergic. He had looked at you strangely, but didn’t press you further.
You couldn’t find the time to see Sanji the week of the ball at all. Your time was spent welcoming foreign dignitaries, discussing business and trade. You and your sister had a marvelous time shutting down a marriage proposal from some duke from the north.
It amazes you how much you’ve changed since meeting Sanji. Had the duke asked before you met him, you probably would have considered it seriously. Whereas now, your standard is far too high. The man you choose must be able to get to your heart by cooking you the best food in the kingdom and all the seas.
You’re glowing by the time you finish getting ready for the masquerade. The dress you chose is in your favorite color, with the skirt twirling dreamily when you turn.
Chrysanth permitted you to enter the ballroom a few minutes late to avoid a royal entrance. You use the time to compose what you want to say to Sanji when you tell him the truth.
‘I’m a princess, and I think I might love you’, is that a lot to say? You sigh, smoothing your hands over your dress.
The clock on the wall chimes. It’s been fifteen minutes since the ball officially started. You put on your mask, tying the ribbon behind your head to secure it.
After one last glance at yourself in the mirror, you head to the ballroom—looking much more collected than you actually feel.
Maybe you shouldn’t have bragged to Sanji that you would find him easily, because you don’t.
You were mistaken when you thought all you’d had to do was look for a tall, blond man with a blue mask. (Sanji’s mask is surely going to be blue. He wouldn’t consider any other color. You bet your foot on it.) It’s unnerving how many people fit that description tonight.
You even find your brother before you find Sanji. August is dressed in surprisingly simple, all black attire. He looks more like a gentleman than a commander, lacking all those sparkly medals he’s usually required to wear at events.
“Where’s your date?” August asks, ducking his head slightly so that you can hear him over the crowd. “Chrysanth bragged about setting you two up.”
“I haven’t found him yet.” You answer dispiritedly. “I thought it would be easy.”
August looks around, and you know that if he knew what Sanji looked like, he would be able to track him down in a flash. You’re about to ask what you should do when August suddenly bows, extending a hand to you.
“May I have this dance, fair lady?” He asks in a fake pretentious accent that instantly makes you laugh.
It would be nice to say yes, but you desperately want Sanji to be your first dance. August would understand.
But you aren’t able to decline, someone else beats you to it.
“I’m afraid her first dance is spoken for.” Sanji’s voice reaches your ears and suddenly the room is brighter than it was.
You almost gasp, elated that he found you. Were it not for that frown on his face, you would have voiced out your joy.
August and Sanji stare each other down. Neither of them say anything, but it’s clear that their first impressions of each other aren’t the most pleasant. Not liking the hostility you’re sensing is building, you tug at Sanji’s hand.
Your brother’s eyes soften at that, and he bows again, this time to say goodbye. “I’ll see you later then.”
You watch August go, and Sanji grumbles something you don’t catch under his breath. You'll have to properly introduce them at some point, but worrying about their relationship can wait. You really must cheer up this grump who thought he was going to miss your first dance.
“Dance with me, stranger?” Intertwining your fingers together, you smile and take in how handsome he looks. His suit is still black, but there are several accents in dark blue—the same color as his mask.
The deep navy color makes his eyes look almost crystalline, and you recognize why you love him so immensely when he smiles.
“I would be honored.”
Sanji is more graceful than you expected. His movements are controlled and precise, never moving too fast and always making sure you’re falling into step beside him.
He’s proven, once again, that he can surpass your every expectation. Sanji spins you around, catching you by your waist and grinning before sweeping you off your feet again.
By the end of it, you’re left breathless due to far too many reasons, and they all involve him.
You had tried bringing Sanji to a romantic spot; maybe a balcony, or somewhere by a fountain in the gardens—but it seems that a lot of other people had the same idea.
Everywhere was crowded, but you suppose where you ended up is romantic in its own way. With the sky being cloudless tonight, you could see every star twinkling away through the greenhouse’s glass roof.
Let the stars bear witness to you pouring out your heart to this man.
“Sanji…” You start, mentally preparing yourself.
“Yes, ma chèrie?” Sanji tucks a lock of your hair behind your ear, you have his complete attention.
“There are things I must tell you.” You swallow the lump in your throat, not brave enough to look him in the eye yet; though you grip his hands tightly in yours.
Sanji waits. He doesn’t complain that you might be holding onto him too tightly, or nag at you for taking too long to put your words together.
When you finally look up to meet his eyes, you find the strength to breathe it out, “...I’m a princess.”
There’s this moment again, when you hold your breath and wait for his reaction; like when you first told him your name. Suddenly, it feels like you’re in the kitchen eating sandwiches with him again.
And, just as it did back then, his reaction surprises you.
His expression barely changes, the only difference being the barely-there furrow of his brows in concern.
“I know, love.” He says.
“What?!” You drop his hands in shock. “Since when?”
Sanji blinks. “Since the moment we met.”
“But, I—why did you pay everything back? Why didn’t you ever mention it?”
His eyes widen, “Ah, is that why you wouldn’t eat anything from me these past few weeks? I knew you couldn’t be allergic to pineberries.”
“Sanji, answer the question.” You pout, and he rubs your arms in an attempt to soothe you.
It’s Sanji’s turn to compose himself, you notice. He looks like he wants for your time together to stay lighthearted, when the thoughts in his mind are far from it.
“You didn’t want to talk about your duties, so I never asked.” Sanji shrugs, but you can see him getting nervous.
“As for reimbursing the ingredients, I suppose I was worried that… you wouldn’t think of our time together dearly if I was just another chef on your staff.”
Your heart shudders when he lets out a shaky breath. Oh Sanji.
“But that’s the truth isn’t it? I am, and yet I—” He pauses, eyes searching yours desperately. “If I didn’t pay for it, I would be admitting that a chef was all I’d ever be to you.”
You open your mouth to speak, but he cuts you off. “I don’t regret it. I would make the same choice if I had to.” Through the mask, you can see his resolve, but his hands shake as he holds you.
“I didn’t expect to feel this strongly about you.” Sanji continues, “You’re just so lovely, making me feel like I could take on the world for you.”
With your hands quivering the slightest bit, you pull at the ribbon behind your head. Your mask clatters to the floor. Raising your hands towards him, you push his mask up until it’s off, revealing the face of the man who has completely enamoured you; body and soul and all.
You think back to how the colors lit him up beautifully, that one sunset you shared under that blossoming tree. And now, he’s still just as beautiful, in this greenhouse under the moon and the stars.
You love him all the same as you did then and every moment before. With the weight from keeping secrets gone from your chest, you finally let yourself admit it out loud.
“I love you, Sanji.” You confess. “I’ll go with you, if you’ll take on the world.” You try to say it calmly, but tears build up in your eyes. “You mean so much to me. You’re my dream.”
Sanji inches you closer, wrapping one arm around your waist while his other hand cradles the back of your head. “I love you too. More than you could possibly imagine.”
You quip back at him while wrapping your arms around his neck, “I think I have a pretty good idea.”
Sanji leans in the same moment you do, lips meeting in a passionate kiss that sends sparks running through every inch of your being. He pulls you impossibly tighter against him, strong hands caressing your back and holding firm at your waist. Your fingers rake through his hair, touching him to make sure he’s real. He’s here. He loves you. He knew. He always knew.
That night, you realized that your favorite taste from Sanji is his lips on yours. But, once again, he won’t hear you tell him that.
Sanji first saw you when a ceremony was held to welcome the new palace staff.
Everyone’s attention had been on your sister, the queen. Understandably so, but his eyes always strayed back to you. You looked gorgeous, wearing a stunning dress perfect for a princess as yourself. A cape draped tastefully down your back. And your crown sparkled brightly under the sun; but try as it might, it couldn’t be as dazzling as you.
Sanji was drawn to you instantly, and he thought he would go on with his life never understanding why.
That is, until you walked into the kitchen at two in the morning to make a sandwich.
It would have been impossible for him to not recognize you. Regular office clothes or not, something was different in the way you carried yourself. It was difficult to miss.
Other people would have thought you appeared mundane. And yet, Sanji found you the most beautiful then.
Because you let yourself smile more when you don't wear your crown.
But he won’t tell you that.
Imagine calling Sanji “Love Cook”…
Walking onto the deck you found Luffy laying on the wooden planks. Usopp was sitting beside him, Nami had her eyes through a set of binoculars with Zoro close by, head against the railing as he rest his eyes.
“What have I missed?” You asked.
Usopp looked at you and sighed. “Sanji said dinner would take longer than usual today.”
Zoro huffed. “Damn waiter probably burned the first batch.”
Usopp doubted the comment. Luffy jumped up and grabbed your shoulders as a realisation dawned. “Sanji doesn’t say no to you.”
And so, you were on the mission to uncover the great secret. You heard noises from behind the kitchen door and knocked while pushing the wooden panel open.
“You know, Luffy says that you’re being awfully tight-lipped about tonight’s dinner.” You walked in and saw pots and pans strewn across every surface possible. At the heart of the mess was the blonde-haired chef with a bowl and whisk in hand, mixing a blue-coloured cream.
“Wow. It’s like Mihawk tore his way through this place.” Your comment had Sanji turn, his concentrated frown flipping almost immediately.
He chuckled and approached the counter as you did the same on the other side. “Mihawk could only dream.”
He slowed the whisking and lowered the bowl. Grabbing a small spoon, Sanji scooped a small amount into his mouth and hummed in delight.
“Any chance I could get a taste?” You asked, voice rising in pitch ever so slightly while you took a seat.
Putting the spoon and bowl aside, Sanji wiped his hands of the excess flour with a white cloth. “Not today, I’m afraid.” While he didn’t normally decline your requests, today was a necessary evil so he offered a bit of insight as a peace offering.
“It’s a celebratory meal. Something special for entering the Grand Line.” He explained, pride in his voice as he threw the towel over his shoulders. “So, today's menu is a secret that I won’t be sharing with anyone.”
“Not even me, Love Cook?”
Sanji’s eyes closed as he gave bashful smile at the nickname. You were pressing his buttons and it was taking all his willpower to resist. He hummed knowingly and then looked at you.
“You know I can see what you’re trying to do, right?”
You leaned forward, eyes staring into his blue ones before briefly - and not discretely - dipping to his lips. “Is it working?”
Sanji also leaned across the counter until his nose bumped lightly against yours.
“How about I make you a deal? Let me keep this one secret for a little longer and I’ll make it up to you. Cakes, kisses - whatever you want.”
You smiled back at him. “And what if both those options sound good?”
Sanji inched a little closer and pressed a kiss to the tip of your nose. “Whatever you want.”
strawberry lemonade
Sanji x LuffyOlderSister!Reader
the waiter walked over the table holding the plate of bread, "Hi, welcome to our shitty restaurant where the only thing worse than the ambience is the food." He said annoyed, his hand stuffed into his pockets as he placed the plate of bread onto the table
“My name is Sanji. What can I get for you?” Sanji said, looking at the table his hand in his pockets.
Luffy grabbed the bread plate. "One of everything, please," he said. [Y/n] shook her head, smiling at her always-hungry little brother who could eat a whole buffet and still ask for seconds.
The waiter approached the table with a friendly smile and a suggestion: "May I interest you in one of our signature cocktails to elevate your dining experience?" As he spoke, [Y/n] swiftly and deftly took one of the warm rolls from the basket in the center of the table. Luffy was taken aback and protested with a playful "Hey!" [Y/n] responded by sticking out her tongue, teasingly. She then tore off a piece of the warm, crusty bread and popped it into her mouth, savoring the flavor.
As she looked up, her gaze met the waiter's. Her heart skipped a beat as she noticed his flirtatious smile. "My apologies, madam. I didn't see you there. Would you like to start with an apéritif?" he asked, still smiling at her.
Her face turned bright red. "We have some rare Micqueot vintages in stock," he said, trying to impress her. "Or maybe you'd prefer a glass of Umeshu?" He continued to stare at her, captivated by her beauty.
The moment he flashed a flirtatious smile, her heart raced like a horse galloping on a race track. He leaned towards her and whispered, "You know, something sweet for someone sweet," causing her cheeks to flush with a bright red hue, reminiscent of a freshly picked ripe strawberry. She couldn't explain why she felt so nervous around him all of a sudden, her heart pounding relentlessly against her chest as if it wanted to break free.
He watched her intently, his gaze unwavering as she averted her eyes and looked down. Her cheeks turned a faint shade of pink as she fiddled with the gold Roger coin around her neck, a precious keepsake that Shanks had given her and Luffy when they were children.
He smiled at her and she looked up for a moment, smiling sheepishly as they locked eyes. Usopp clears his throat and says, "Waiter, can I get a beer and something for my friends?" He tells the waiter ordering the drinks, "Two beers. I usually have three, but…" He said,
"Water." Nami said looking at him.
„And a milk." Luffy interrupted, "Three beers and a milk. a water. And, uh, for madam?" Sanji asked, his gaze once again falling on [Y/n] looked up at him and blushed, "U-Um, I would strawberry lemonade and a cup of strawberries," she said, her voice tinged with a hint of shyness. He smiled at her and said, "Right away." just as he left to walk towards the kitchen.
[Y/n] hid her face in her shirt while the other crew members chuckled, Luffy looked towards his older sister playfully. "Y/n's gotta boyfriend," He teasingly said to her. "S-Shut up!" She whispered shouted, elbowing him in the arm before, as the Sanji brought out her drinks. He smiled, at her as he placed the strawberry lemonade in front of her, along with the side of strawberries. Sending her a wink as he did so, her heart almost seemed to stop and her soul could've left her body.
"Y/n's gotta boy-" [Y/n] grabbed some meat on a stick, and shoved it into her brother's mouth silencing him.
Sanji shows his attraction towards women very openly. Smooth compliments fall from his lips as he stands a little too close, offering to cook anything and everything for the “beautiful lady”. Blood trickles from his nose and his voice rises slightly from any attention, not to mention his talent for puffing out heart shaped smoke.
When it comes to any woman, Sanji is very loud.
But when it comes to you?
Sanji’s eyes will watch you from across the room, in awe of your presence. Red will stain his cheeks and back of his neck, and he’ll stumble over any smooth line he had. Your laugh will cause his hands to shake, rattling the tray he’s holding.
What Sanji feels for you is so different than what he thought love would feel like.
And because of that,
When it comes to you, Sanji is rather quiet.
Just thinking about how different Sanji might act if he ACTUALLY fell in love
Jealousy, Jealousy
Tumblr media
i really loved how bad for business turned out, and it seems you all did too!! so here's a continuation of the bfb universe/storyline :) it's not exactly a part two
warnings! jealousy (sanji's)
word count: 1,720
opla! sanji x f! reader
i actually took the time to reference back to this scene in the live action to make sure i got their orders right :) !! also hi i am alive !!! i just got busy with work- and i had a mini con to go to this weekend and i cosplayed nami! :D -> i have also been struggling with tremendous writers block, and was trying to force myself to write about zoro for days! but i couldn't, and i was frustrated with myself untill i rememebred this isnt a job, this is for fun for me and you guys. so i went back to some of the things i've written and felt like i could continue this one :) the story really flowed from there and i wrote a lot in a short span sooooooo <3 ily all! thanks for reading as always <3333
sanji vinsmoke is jealous.
the cook is used to woman falling at his feet, swooning over his flirty personality. either that or they get annoyed at him and clearly show disinterest. (oftentimes calling him names and sometimes resulting in him getting hit)
but you, the one girl he actually held a candle for, he couldn’t even seem to get a rejection from you. that would’ve made things so much easier for him and his heart. it’s gotten to the point he’s wishing you would tell him you don’t return his feelings. sure it would hurt in the moment, but at least he could have (hopefully) forced himself to move on.
but no, you won’t reject him; nor will you swoon at his advances. they seem to roll right off you like beads of rain on a window. never a hint of blush on your cheeks, no angrily quirked brows. how was he meant to understand? there are two reasonable reactions to such a forward man, either interest or not. how do you manage to toe the line so perfectly?
it drove him mad, not only were you horribly hard to read, every once in a while you would flirt aggressively back at him. it would always catch the poor boy off guard, leaving him stunned and blushing standing wherever he was. oftentimes you did it right in the middle of the kitchen, leaving him to deal with the playful teasing of the other workers, walking off to continue doing your job.
you would be the death of him surely.
especially when the sight of you smiling so sweetly at that stupid swordsman causes a painful squeeze in his chest. his grip on the tray he was holding is bruising, and there’s a jealous rage brewing inside of him.
-
“hello my name is y/n, and i’ll be your waitress today. can i start you guys with any refreshments?” you flip over a page on your notepad, ready to write down the group's requests. what a charming bunch they were, with just a glance you could tell they really cared for one another.
“i’ll take a beer,” the green haired man speaks up, and you nod with a smile.
“i’ll take two beers, i normally have three but..” he trails off as the woman at the table speaks up.
“i’ll take a water.”
“and a glass of milk!” the endearing boy with a straw hat adds on, his words are muffled by the bun he was still chewing. when coming to greet them you’d brough over a basket of perfectly warmed buns with butter. nodding at them all, your pen into your apron as you repeat back to them.
“three beers, milk and water, coming right up you guys.” you step back with a bow, turning towards the kitchen. doing so you notice your best friend is glaring in your direction, and as you walk back you tilt your head at him. when you get closer you realize his glare wasn't directed towards you, but the swordsman you had taken the order from. he doesn’t even seem to pay you any mind as you approach him, too focused on the table you had just walked away from. when you reach him where he stands in front of the doorway, you snap your fingers in his face. it seems to snap him out of it, and he looks down at you with a charming smile.
“hello my love, what can i do for you?” his hand is placed on your shoulder sweetly. the touch warms your body, but you shake it off to cross your arms.
“what’s up with you, why were you glaring at my table? do you know them?” you gesture back towards your table, and a flush washes over his face when he realizes he’d been caught. he straightens his tie in an attempt to shake off his shame,
“not a clue who they are darling.” your eyebrow raises in suspicion, you’re not buying it. he seems to know you won’t, and he tucks his hand into his pockets as he shrugs.
“you just glare at people you don’t know now sanj?” a pout forms out of frustration. while you were wondering why he was lying to you so blatantly, he was internally swooning at how adorable you looked in that moment, and the sweet way you'd shortend his name. the grip you had over his heart was the strongest in all the seas.
“don’t worry, pretty lady, it’s nothing. now if you’ll excuse me i’ve got my own tables to wait on.” he’s internally scrambling to figure out how to distract you from what he was caught doing, in a moment of boldness (or a crazy attempt to change the subject), he leans down to press a kiss to the side of your head.
the action causes your eyes to almost bulge out of your head as you begin to blush. a smug smile forms on sanji’s face at the sight, he’d never felt more accomplished than he did in that moment. not only had he distracted you, he’d made your face light up all pretty and embarrassed. he winked at you before brushing past you to do his job, pushing open the swinging door into the kitchen behind you.
you’re left in shock trying to wrap your brain around his actions, ‘what had gotten into him?’ as bold and flirtatious as he was, you would have never expected a display like that in front of all the customers.
oh shit, the customers. ‘had anyone seen that? oh gods.’ your hands clench into fists as you attempt to bring yourself back to reality and calm down, and you push past the doors of the kitchen. your eyes are focused on the ground as you collect the drinks needed for your table, placing them all on a tray and balancing them on one hand. you take a moment to breathe in and compose yourself before walking back out into the dining room.
you eyes scan the room and find your favorite blond waiting on a table on the opposite side of the room of your own. his location makes it easy to return to the table without incident, placing down the three beers before the milk and water. with a smile, you tuck the tray under your arm and pull out your notepad again to continue taking their orders. maybe doing your job could distract from the rapid beating in your chest.
“you guys decided on food yet?”
“one of everything!” the boy with a straw hat speaks up, and you quirk your eyebrow. they didn't look like the big spenders you were used too, but it wasn’t really your place to mention that. your smile never slips as you nod, writing it down and once again bowing before you leave. by your luck sanji seems to be waiting for you at the doorway of the kitchen. so much for the idea you had to avoid him until you’d calmed down.
he holds his hand out, offering to take your tray from you. his kind offer brings a smile to your lips, and you decide to shove down whatever inner turmoil was happening and act like what he did hadn’t happened. (he sure was.)
“any interesting orders?” he smiles, quirking a brow at you as you offer him your serving tray. you laugh, holding out your notepad to show him where you had written down ‘one of everything’ sanji’s heart squeezes at how cute your handwriting is, and he can’t help the chuckle. “well it looks like you’ll need some help taking out this order then, love.” the pet name causes the usual skip in your heartbeat, and you smile, nodding in acceptance of his offer for help, pushing past him into the kitchen to get your cooks started on the order of everything.
-
the food gets taken out in waves, sanji always accompanying you with an extra plate or two. the table is rather nice about it, they’re always caught up in conversation. even still they thank you for every plate you place down, they seem like genuine people. it warms your heart to see such a close group of friends.
you can’t help but notice the way sanji doesn’t even pay the girl at the table any mind, too busy glaring at the green haired man, his hands lingering on your shoulder or back longer than they needed to. how he’d managed to add on to his unusual behavior, you wouldnt understand.
not that he really had any reason to be placing a tender hand on your back while you were serving guests. the third time it happens you turn to look at him with a raised eyebrow, and he turns to smile down at you sweetly, his hand on your back rubbing up and down. you look at him incredulously, sanji steps back, bowing before walking back towards the kitchen. before he left his gaze lingered on the man longer than should have been acceptable. you have to hold back a frustrated huff, turning back to the table with a plastered smile
“don’t hesitate to call me if you need anything! i hope you enjoy your meal.” you finish off the sentence with a bow, turning to look at the swordsman when he speaks up with a snort. “are you sure, wouldn’t want to make your busboy anymore jealous than he already is?” your eyes widen in confusion, not only at the notion, but the unnecessary insult towards your sanji.
“whatever could you mean.” the whole table turns to you, and the redhead quirks a brow at you, adding on.
“you’re not really that clueless, are you?” your mouth drops open, and a blush begins to cover your cheeks.
“no, i didn’t think i was.”
and then you’re even more confused. what reason would he have to be jealous over you and a random guest? it’s not like the man had even given you the time of day, or you’d even wanted it? all you’d done was take his orders.
the thought feels so impossible, even so it has already quickly begun eating away at your brain and heart. it was the only logical explanation for all his odd behaviors tonight.
sanji vinsmoke, was jealous. over you.
A/N: Back with these because how can I not? Sanji in this scenario makes me absolutely feral. Slightly longer since I've been gone as well <3 (Hopefully this in the tags now)
Sanji dreamed of filling you up so full for so goddamn long. Having kids was something for the future, when he knew he was ready and mature but he can't resist pumping into you now.
Watching you become a fucked-out mess was all too fulfilling.
Sanji's hands never left your body, gripping each part with a squeeze just to enjoy how soft your body was underneath him.
Each thrust into you was slow and methodical. His hips knew exactly how to roll into you to hit every good fucking spot.
Sanji's eyes just stared down at you, watching you squirm. His lips were covered in wetness because he was just so fucking pussy-drunk earlier that he couldn't not eat you out on end first.
He had such a shit-eating grin as he watched you moan out from all he was doing to you at such a teasingly, slow pace.
He's in worship every time that he's fucking you because to him, there is no greater prospect than to have you moaning out his name.
"Mon amour... Keep your eyes on me, hm? Let me see those eyes roll back for me. That's it... Good girl."
But, it wasn't long before Sanji was increasing his pacing to really fuck you. It was hard to resist and he was trying so hard to make it last but the way your tits bounced and your pussy squeezed his cock, it was just impossible.
Sanji held your jaw as he pounded into you. He always loved to watch your reactions. To know what felt so good for you. Ever a pleaser.
The sounds of slapping skin filled the room while his hands dug into your thighs, holding him into the moment.
Sanji becomes whiny when he's about to cum, stuttering and stumbling on his words. It's just a jumbled mess of "fuck"s and "love you/love you s'much".
With one last hard thrust, his cum poured into you, feeling that ever-familiar heat spread through you.
His hair was a mess, stuck to his forehead and over his eye with sweat. As he's catching his breath, he placed several sloppy kisses on your lips and at your jaw.
Pulling out, he softly chuckled as he watched his cum pour back out of you. He wanted to do it every single night. He wanted to keep you so full of him that your brain couldn't think of anything else when he was done with you.
"You're too perfect... Beautiful and all for me. And this...?" He whispered against your lips while he gently stuck his finger inside, fucking the cum back into you, eliciting a whimper from you. "Mmf- This is all mine, love."
desperate sex with sanji | sanji drabble (18+)
18+ POST SO MINORS DO NOT INTERACT
sanji and you have been waiting all day and you're finally alone ♡
warnings: nsfw without barely any plot below the line, lots of praise, men whimpering (yeahhahahhahahah), p in v, afab reader!, pretty much quick and fast sex lol, this is mostly for anime sanji but i'm not gonna be the one to limit who you want this to be
Tumblr media
"been w-waiting for this alllll dayy.." sanji whines as he pushes your legs up and apart, looking down at you with a look that elicits a soft moan out of you. it's not like you hadn't seen him all day; in fact, you had spent the day running errands together, cooked lunch together, all the good stuff that comes out of being in a relationship. what had set the two of you off was everything that had conspired that morning. your head in sanji's lap and sucking him for all he was worth, soft moans leaving you every time his fingers stroked deep inside you. the two of you had been SO close, you could have gone to sleep that night without thinking of having sex but a hard knock at the door had gone and ruined the whole thing. but now you were alone again.
sanji buries his face in your breasts with a shaky sigh of relief, a soft gasp leaving you when you feel him lick a stripe between them. your back arches as soft whines leave you when his lips find your nipples and suck on them until he leaves them perky and raw, leaving sloppy kisses on them before he pulls away. "you're absolutely stunning like this.." he says in between pants, shakily starting to line himself up with your slit. "p-please, sanji, hurry, pleeease.." you moan when he rubs only his tip against you, clearly trying to make this last. "i know, i know, beautiful, i'll make you feel so good soon, i promise." he says with a shaky voice, finally letting himself slip past your slit and making the two of you moan in unison.
he really had planned to take it easy, let the moment last like he normally did. but once he felt the way you clenched around him, he knew he was done for. a desperate sort of sound leaves him before he immediately starts to pound into you, making a loud moan leave you as your hands find his hair and tug on it. he nearly drools at the feeling, swallowing thickly as he pushes your legs further back for more access and to watch the way your breasts bounce with each thrust. "gods, p-please, gorgeous.." he whines as he massages your thighs, beads of sweat already beginning to form on his forehead. you can barely do anything but babble, too blissed out to do anything but take him. "soooo nice and tight for me, t-thank you for m-making me feel so goood." he says, the occasional whimper leaving him with every stroke inside of you.
more quickly than he wants, he can feel the coil inside him of tightening to the point of no return, a pathetic cry leaving him as he pushes your legs further apart to wrap them around his waist. he buries his face in between your breasts again, making you let out a cry of your own as he considerably picks up the pace of his hips; his words are becoming so slurred you can barely understand him. "pleasebabyplease, inside, l-let me cuminside, oh g-gods!" he cries out, leaving sloppy kisses over any skin he can reach. "p-pleaseee!" is the only response you can manage, pulling at his hair as you feel your own orgasm washing over you. before he even realizes it, pathetic whines and whimpers are slipping out of him as he cums hard, not stopping his hips for anything as you can only meet his own sounds with loud moans. your thighs twitch and shake as you let sanji ride out his orgasm, something that proves hard with the way he can't seem to get enough. without pausing, he gives you a breathless smile, this time grabbing your hips to press them impossibly closer to his. "o-one more time?"
can you guess who my favorite one piece character is yet another drabble before class bc i have 4 hours of nothing to do LMAOAO
Tumblr media
The kitchen at the Baratie was a hive of activity, but amidst the clattering pots and pans, you were in your own world, meticulously chopping and prepping ingredients for the next day's meals. It was a role you took seriously, a way to contribute your skills to the Baratie and help Zeff, who had been like a father to you. As the evening wore on, the day's rush finally subsided. It was now nighttime, and you were still engrossed in your work, the rhythmic chopping of vegetables the only sound in the kitchen. That is until the door swung open, and a familiar voice greeted you.
"Hey there, Y/N" Sanji's voice was like music, smooth and warm. You turned to see him standing there, a pile of dirty plates in his arms, his trademark cigarette perched between his lips. "Hey, Sanji," you replied, smiling warmly. You and Sanji had known each other for years, having become close friends while growing up together on the Baratie. Your bond was special, different from his usual interactions with women. It was more like that of close siblings.
Sanji set the dirty plates down, his eyes never leaving you. He leaned casually against the counter, watching your skilled hands work the knife. "What's cookin'?" he asked, a playful grin on his face. You chuckled, glancing up at him. "Just prepping for tomorrow. You know how it is," you replied, a hint of pride in your voice. Cooking was your passion, and you were good at it.
As you explained the dish you were preparing, something unexpected happened. In a fleeting moment of distraction, the knife nicked your finger, and you winced, withdrawing your hand. Sanji's reaction was immediate. He abandoned his casual posture, moving swiftly to your side. Taking your injured hand gently, he examined the cut with concern in his eyes. "Careful now; You know that knives aren’t something to be frivolous with." he scolded, though his voice held a note of genuine worry.
Your heart fluttered at his touch and his worry. "I know, I know," you said, attempting to brush it off. "Just a little slip." But Sanji was focused on tending to your wound. He fetched a small first-aid kit and carefully cleaned and bandaged your finger. His hands were surprisingly gentle, a far cry from his usual intense demeanor.
As he worked, you couldn't help but notice the sudden tension in the air. It was different from your usual interactions. The closeness, the intimacy of the moment—it felt charged with unspoken emotions. Sanji finished bandaging your finger and looked up at you, his face a shade pinker than usual. "There," he said softly. "All better."
Your heart raced as you met his gaze. With a playful grin, you couldn't resist teasing him a little. "Thanks, Sanji," you said, your voice low and sultry. "You always take such good care of me.” Sanji's eyes widened, and he blinked in surprise. It was clear your comment had caught him off guard, and his cheeks flushed a deeper shade of red. It was a rare sight to see the ever-confident Sanji flustered.
You couldn't help but giggle at his reaction, feeling a newfound sense of closeness between you two. The playful banter continued late into the night, the tension gradually giving way to a comfortable warmth that only seemed to grow stronger with time. As the kitchen lights dimmed, you and Sanji found yourselves sitting at a quiet corner of the restaurant, sharing stories and laughter. It was a night unlike any other, and it left both of you with a lingering sense of something unspoken—a connection that went beyond friendship.
The night eventually came to an end, and you realized just how late it had become. You stretched, feeling the exhaustion of a long day's work catching up to you. "I should get some rest," you said, stifling a yawn. Sanji nodded in agreement, though there was a hint of reluctance in his eyes. "Yeah, you're right. It's been a busy day."
As you both made your way to your respective rooms, you couldn't shake the feeling that something had shifted between you and Sanji. It was as if a door had been opened, revealing a deeper layer of your relationship—one that held the promise of something more than friendship. Little did you know that this night would be the beginning of a journey filled with laughter, shared dreams, and the blossoming of a love that had always been there, waiting for the right moment to ignite.
Title: Unraveled
Pairing: Sanji x Reader
Summary: Some of Sanji’s thoughts about you | Genre: Fluff, some angst, hints of a troubled past| Warning: none | Words: 5.5K | Note: This is a standalone. You don’t have to read Puzzled or Dazzled or Muffled or Bewitched but if you want you can 😊
‘Ah, I don’t have a favorite. I’ll just eat anything they’ll give me.’
The cigarette paused an inch away from his parted mouth when Sanji heard an unfamiliar female voice say such an awful thing.
The blond cook shouldn’t have been smoking in the middle of his shift. Zeff, the closest thing he had to a father and the old geezer, who ran the restaurant would surely have his balls claiming the smoke was getting on his clothes and on the food Sanji would prepare.
He wasn’t entirely in the wrong, and Sanji would have done a better job controlling his distasteful habit, but the young man was already on edge over how uncreative, more than that, absolutely dull the menu was. It was heartbreaking, truly, to have a gift and vision to create something unique and wonderful and be stuck doing the same old boring dishes every bloody day.
So as to not let his intrusive thoughts about burning the place down just so he wouldn’t die out of boredom, win, Sanji stepped outside the Baratie to have a quick smoke.
He noticed the group of five approaching the restaurant because regardless of how nonchalant he appeared, he always made a habit of being aware of everything he could. Just in case.
It would be a lie if he claimed he noticed you first.
The truth was apart from catching the sight of the beautiful ginger-haired woman, who he later learned was named Nami, Sanji didn’t really pay much attention to the rest of her companions. Pitifully, and a horrible oversight on his part, but the blond cook, didn’t realize there was another woman present in your little group until he heard those words.
‘Ah, I don’t have a favorite. I’ll just eat anything they’ll give me.’
Two things shocked him when he heard those words.
The first one was the fact that behind the seemingly annoyed-looking man with green hair and three swords who was standing there with his arms crossed obviously not impressed with the restaurant and a tall lanky boy than a man with a straw hat who looked too excited about the restaurant hid another woman. You.
The second one was the fact that you said such a thing in such a way. As if it didn’t matter. As if the fact that you were about to eat didn’t hold any real weight in your life. As if the food was food and nothing else.
A horrible oversight on your part, he would later confess when he would tell to you about that first moment, he saw you.
For as long as Sanji could remember, he made it his life’s mission to cook, to feed. Those that were hungry, but also those that were starving regardless of who they were. A civilian. A criminal. A marine. A pirate. A revolutionist. Everyone needed to eat in the end, and no food should go to waste.
But for the last couple of years, he did everything he could to make meals that wouldn’t just feed the stomach, but also the soul. Despite how much it annoyed Zeff it couldn’t be helped. This was something he needed to do. This was something that brought him joy. This was something he promised to himself and to the first woman who ever held his heart, his mother, he would do. So, this was something he did.
So, to have someone, a woman, whom the blond chef always regarded as far more special than any men, say they would eat anything given to them and that they did not have a favorite would simply not do for him.
He pulled the cigarette completely away from his lips and looked through your little group noticing another young man, the one who probably asked you about your favorite meal and, well, you.
Oh…my beloved, he thought with a hint of possessiveness and longing as his grey-blue eyes finally landed on your frame partly hidden behind your group.
He couldn’t really pinpoint one single thing that prompted him to think of you in such a way.
Women always caught his attention, mainly the beautiful ones. The thing was their beauty was never repetitive. He learned a long time ago, that women were unique beings and so was their beauty, and they deserved nothing but admiration for that.
He thought your ginger-haired companion was beautiful and unique too, but for some reason seeing you standing there all nervous and twitchy as if you were expecting trouble of some sort in your everyday clothes outside of Baratie on that foggy day made Sanji’s heart swell with fondness and possessiveness, he wasn’t acquainted with before.
That’s new…, he thought taking a closer look at you.
You were pretty. Something about your demeanor no matter how anxious sang to him like a siren bringing him closer. Just a little bit closer.
Funny
He didn’t think he had a type. He considered all women to be goddesses in their own right. But perhaps, he too preferred some to the other. Even if it was the first time he saw you, he felt compelled to refer you to any other woman he ever met.
Then one by one your company entered the establishment leaving you to linger behind.
You stopped looking around, but Sanji could clearly see, you were still on high alert.
He brushed his lower lip with the tip of his thumb scratching the skin there with his nail tempted to call out to you.
Perhaps, he could toss you a charming compliment or an endearing praise of some sort. You were certainly lovely enough to deserve both and some.
Before he could, however, you seemed to have stopped worrying about whatever plagued your thoughts for a moment and took a proper look at the restaurant.
Sanji’s heart skipped a beat.
Your posture was steady now, and your eyes slowly took Baratie in with haunting calmness as they moved over every edge, corner, and even inch of the ship.
Then once you were done, the corners of your pretty mouth pulled into a small appreciative smile, and just as you were about to enter, your eyes shifted again and for a moment, briefer than a second, they landed on him.
Sanji’s heart speeded up.
You were gone before he could process what happened. Much later, when the two of you were close enough to talk about anything and everything, he learned, you didn’t even remember the moment.
Not just to soothe your guilt, but the blond chef didn’t mind the fact that you didn’t remember the moment. Not one bit. If anything, he found joy in the idea that a moment like that one, that first one that had both of you in it belonged solely to him.
His heart was still startled by what happened even if you were long gone, no doubt being seated somewhere inside by now.
‘Ah, I don’t have a favorite. I’ll just eat anything they’ll give me.’
Now, that just won’t do, darling, thought Sanji right then and there and finally took another drag from his cigarette with a small playful smirk.
The status of his heart didn’t do much to worry him. He was no stranger to being affected by women and their beauty. But you and your words. Gods, you and your words affected him very much.
Finishing the cigarette, he quickly returned to the kitchen, your soft smile and words became inspiration for a new unique dish. He knew Zeff would protest. If it wasn’t on the menu, it was no good, yet Sanji couldn’t help himself. He couldn’t contain it.
‘I’ll just eat anything they’ll give me.’
Certainly not! Food should be enjoyed. A meal should be loved. If you truly did not have something you loved the most, then…then he would just have to create something for you to love.
To fall in love with, Sanji thought grateful to you for your role as his unaware muse while working.
His good mood didn’t survive long since just as he finished, Zeff unkindly banished him from the kitchen again.
At the time he was upset. Cursing the old man and his restaurant and everything he could, it wouldn’t be until much later, weeks even when Sanji would have you help him do the dishes in the kitchen on Going Merry laughing at something he whispered into your ear with your cheeks pink that he would look at you and think, Thank gods, Zeff kicked me out. Thank gods, I went to waiter your table. Thank gods, I got to meet you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
‘You know. She’s the only one who knows how a real pirate ship should look like,’ said Usopp offhanded once right at the beginning of their shared journey when Sanji handed him a pike fish that he had been begging the cook to make for a few hours now claiming a full stomach would help with his nerves over their upcoming meeting with Arlong.
You had been around too, a moment ago, but all so very quickly as he grew to be used to, you left seemingly unwilling to stay in his company for too long.
Sanji wasn’t a fool. At least, he would like to think, he wasn’t one. He picked up on your discomfort quickly. You were an anxious person. You would get overwhelmed easily. And yet something about you confused him.
He was no stranger to the less-than-desirable effect his flattery had on some women. He knew they were annoyed by his flirting and often found his praises and wordplay cringy rather than pleasing or kind. It didn’t bother him as much as one might assume because even if he would rather for those beautiful ladies to enjoy his attempts and words, he mostly said those things because they deserved to be said.
Every woman should know she’s beautiful and desired and her mere presence brings joy to this world.
Yet, your behavior left him puzzled. At times it seemed you enjoyed his company, and he was sure…no! He knew with absolute certainty he made you happy when he praised your work, and skills, the other day, but every other time, when he would comment on your wonderful figure or exquisite face, he would earn himself this look.
It wasn’t annoyance, mockery, or anger. He was used to those by now. It was something far worse. It was more like a disappointment. Not even distaste, but actual disappointment as if you expected better of him.
This deeply confused the chef. Did you expect better or more creative praises? Did you expect him not to give you any at all?
‘Sweetheart, ask me for anything in the world, but don’t ask me to stop praising your beauty,’ he told you the first time he made dinner. He knew you were tempted to leave right then and there with how your eyes shifted out of the kitchen door toward the deck.
Ultimately, you decided to eat in the kitchen with the others, but it was obvious he made you uncomfortable.
‘If you want to eat in your room that’s alright,’ he spoke after he carefully watched your tiny bite and slow chewing, ‘I won’t be offended.’
You stopped eating and raised your eyes to his face for what felt like the first time that day making him regret making you so uncomfortable before.
He noticed the others stopped eating or at least slowed down to be able to see and hear what you would do. Nosy bunch. Then again, perhaps, he should have done this in private, but how? When all you did was take your leave far too quickly for his liking whenever you ended up alone?
If you would decide to leave. He would let you if only to offer you some comfort as an apology, but instead, you started to eat again quickly mumbling that it was fine.
To be frank, he was insulted more gently by the boyfriends and husbands of the women he mistook for single than by how cold and hurt your little it’s fine made him feel.
It didn’t help that the horrible mosshead who seemed to have it out for him snickered. Prick!
After everyone was done, Sanji stopped you from leaving with a raised hand, ‘I meant what I said. If you would feel better, I can bring the food to your room or the storage room-’
‘No!’ you said far too quickly and loudly which by what little he picked up about you meant you genuinely did not want to do either of those things.
You swallowed and looked away your voice shaken and your face a bit red. He noticed at times it was troublesome for you to look directly into his eyes when talking. Although, he wasn’t sure why. You obviously did not like him if you were disappointed with his flirting. Were you also disappointed with his face?
‘I-I really…don’t… I don’t want to eat alone,’ you confessed to him.
‘You know. She’s the only one who knows what a real pirate ship should look like,’ Usopp’s words rang inside the blond cook’s ears then, and he offered you a charming smirk even if you couldn’t see it, ‘Then I’ll do my part and keep my comments to a minimum while you eat. Everyone deserves nothing but the best experience while eating.’
A slight frown wrinkled your forehead as you walked toward the door away from him, ‘You shouldn’t have to force yourself. You should want to be…better.’
Better in what? What do you think is going on here, beloved? He asked but only himself because you seemed like another minute in his presence alone might just be too much for you.
Sanji pushed his lips into a tight line and did his best to sound as sincere and not upset at all, ‘Very well, darling. I’ll be better, so your beautiful face never has another wrinkle caused by me.’
The way you lowered your head and let out an exhausted sigh made it clear; that he did not understand what you meant one bit.
The truth was, he wouldn’t figure it out until almost a month later when you would confess you thought he was making fun of you with his compliments and praise until you realized he said those things to every woman, so they were harmless and weren’t meant to single you out.
By gods, were you wrong though. He would never make fun of anyone let alone you, and he genuinely believed and meant the things he said.
And Sanji was very much so singling you out because, by the time that conversation took place, on your first date during your last stop on your way to Grand Line, he already couldn’t help but think you were the most beautiful, caring, generous and lovable woman in the world standing on your own pedestal above anyone else in his heart and mind.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
‘My first captain was not a good guy. Neither was anyone in my old crew.’
It wasn’t until a day later, when he flirted with Nojiko that you finally looked at him properly.
He wasn’t thrown off by the other’s woman blunt rejection of his compliments as much as he was by the fact that what felt like the first time ever you were looking at him, directly and unapologetically him, with something other than disappointment or embarrassment.
Surprise
Not shock or something equally alarming and vulgar, but a beautiful sunny look of surprise that caused your pretty eyes to widen and your pink lips to part.
Then before he could ask what was wrong, that surprise shifted into something he could only call understanding or realization, and you gave him the absolute devastating and most beautiful smile, you ever did, and thank gods for that because how on earth was Sanji supposed to ever get anything done when you would smile at him so breathtakingly?
Oh, my love, do you wish to kill me on this very spot? He thought as he pushed himself to smirk back at you although his rapidly beating heart was threatening his very life.
Luckily, the conversation shifted to your main goal and your reason for coming to Conomi Island, so he could focus on that.
After they saved Nami and the island from Arlong’s gang and everything seemed to work out alright, Sanji was thrilled but still surprised to see you approach him and want to help him with feeding the villagers during the celebrations.
He smirked torn.
The gentleman in him absolutely refused the idea that you should bother yourself with helping him. But the lover boy couldn’t allow an opportunity to spend time with you just slip away.
So, you two worked and talked and every piece of information was carefully tugged into the back of his mind to recreate a real-life image of you. Believe it or not, it was a breathtakingly magical image.
‘My first captain was not a good guy. Neither was anyone in my old crew,’ you confessed after a moment so nonchalant and troubled at the same time it took a moment for your words to register.
Sanji could feel the truth behind your words recalling Usopp’s offhanded comments once again realizing there was a whole new meaning behind those words. ‘She’s the only one who knows what a real pirate ship should look like.’
My love, he thought moving on instinct at that very moment.
You were puzzled by his actions, he knew, but how could he not have taken your hand and vowed to be nothing but kind to you? How could he let another moment go by without you knowing he would do first, last, and everything in between that you would never be treated poorly ever again? He would make sure of it.
‘I can assure you at least this cook plans to be nothing but good to you.’
He then pressed a kiss against your skin like a promise enchanted by how beautiful it felt to touch you, but even more so when he could see your stunning eyes believe his words.
I won’t break your trust, beloved, he silently swore on his life not losing his good mood even when mosshead came and ruined your moment making you shy and embarrassed again. He rather like that about you. Truth be told, even when you didn’t like to spend time with the blond cook, he couldn’t find a single thing he didn’t absolutely adore about you. And he wasn’t surprised when he didn’t find any later.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
‘Nothing. Sorry, I just remembered something.’
Since the moment, you first raised your eyes to his in the middle of the Baratie after Sanji saved you from falling on some spilled water, you were an open book to young cook.
Your embarrassment, anxiety, and kindness marked every page that was who you were. Personally, the blond chef found great joy in being able to read you so well. Women were often hauntingly beautiful mysteries, but you could be so expressional, anyone could figure you out.
Watching your cheeks flush a bright, brilliant pink, a startlingly attractive sight if you asked Sanji, it lured a warm laugh from his chest and forced a charming smirk across his face that wasn’t forced at all. He liked it a lot just as he liked every laugh, smile, and twinkle in your brilliant eyes because they felt all the more earned and sincere when he managed to coax them out of you with a witty compliment or charming praise.
Warmth
You felt so warm and soft at times like freshly baked goods out of the oven, and he adored being able to touch that warmth if not with his fingers against your skin then at least with a word that got him a reply.
But despite your honest face and reactions, your thoughts were entirely a mystery as all woman’s thoughts should be. He wouldn’t pry. But he was curious as he was concerned.
As you were an open book, he could tell when you drifted away into a place behind your eyes that caused them to lose their spark, their light, and became almost soulless.
The first time it occurred the cook dropped his ingredients so carelessly that they scattered across the counter and took hold of your arms searching your face for any sign that you were still there.
‘D-darling, what’s the matter?’ he asked in a voice that almost didn’t feel like his own with how shaken it was.
Just like that the light returned to your eyes, and you blinked, ‘Nothing. Sorry, I just remembered something.’
He didn’t think you ever told him anything that hurt him more.
The unnecessary apology. He started to little-by-little tease you about those hoping it would get you to stop using the word sorry so often, as he learned that a wonderful, kind, and dedicated person like you never had any reason to apologize for anything.
The failed attempt of trying to act like it was nothing. Sanji wanted nothing more than to take your face between his palms and tell you that it was never nothing if it caused you even a little bit of distress no matter how much of an anxious person you were. You deserved to be heard and helped.
The implication that it was your past, the one that at times brought you up to the deck to calm down in the middle of the night, or caused you to nervously look around whenever you left the safety of the ship or returned to your nervous habit of hurting yourself, was once again to blame made the blond cook want to introduce your old captain and crew with his foot.
When you added a fake smile, he easily saw through, Sanji thought it would hurt him less if you told him, you hated him.
You went to help him pile up the ingredients again. Always eager to help out anyone and with anything. He often teased you about resting more as he was genuinely concerned that you were overworking yourself too much.
‘No one will get crossed with you if take a moment to breath, darling,’ he told you the first time he managed to convince you to sit down with him for some tea. He didn’t know if you believed when he said those were the highlights of his day, but he genuinely meant it.
He saw you worry about Nami and Zoro, so he knew how you looked when you were stressing over the health or safety of your friends. But this emptiness was different and new. At least to him.
Since then, he saw that lifeless look behind your eyes a couple of times. It was a great source of distress for him, and he wished for nothing more than to help you and bring back your beautiful spark.
Sanji was never an overthinker, but he was observant. And he remembered things and gathered information adding them piece by piece into the puzzle that was you.
Honestly, to hell with your old captain, and to hell with your old crew. Because they were unlucky. They were fools! For ever letting someone as beautiful and caring as you get away. For chasing you away with their ignorance and abuse and whatever else, you refused to speak about. Sanji didn’t care what they did. How much or how little, all of them were guilty in his eyes. And if he ever so much as heard one of them was in the same town, village, or island as you, he would personally find them and give them hell.
For a moment, he thought he found such that person when a stranger approached your table in a bar leaning so close to you, he might as well headbutt you and ask, ‘We know each other don’t we?’
A second passed and although it was more obvious than ever based on the quick shift from your happy carefree behavior to the trembling anxious yet beautiful mess that you weren’t comfortable with the man, you said, ‘No. I-I’ve never seen you…before.’
‘Well, perhaps, we could change that.’
It would never stop baffling Sanji how could this man, drunk or not, not see that as lovely as you were, you were sitting by a table with four other men, not to mention with him by your right side as close as your chairs allowed it. Did the man not see how Sanji kept you company that night like he did every night when you left the ship for some time on the land? Did the man not see you were laughing and talking with him with a spark inside your pretty eyes and a cute blush across your cheeks? How could anyone see all that and still come up and try to flirt with you right there in front of him?
Seeing that the man didn’t take the hint even after you instinctively moved closer to Sanji’s side like you wanted to hide inside his jacket. You didn’t handle situations like these well. He knew that by now.
The blond cook purposely put his arm around your shoulders pulling you even closer selfishly enjoying what you needed and relying on him this much.
‘Sorry, mate,’ said the blond cook doing his best not to sound as angry as he felt if only for your sake. Not only did this man flirt with you in front of him, but he ruined your good mood, and if Sanji didn’t want to stress you out even more by starting a fight in this place, he wouldn’t mind fixing the man’s face with his foot.
‘This lovely lady already knows everyone she needs to.’
‘What? You speak for her or something?’
‘Yes,’ you answered against the fabric of Sanji’s jacket before he could tell the man something nasty, ‘he does. Please leave me alone.’
Luckily for the man, he left with raised hands and without a fuss because the blond cook was very close to kicking him out. Literally.
Unfortunately, your mood could not be improved after that. At least not to the level it was before your interruption.
Even if you untangled yourself from him, he remained with his arm over your seat somewhat shielding you.
‘I think I want to go back to the ship,’ he said finishing his smoke, ‘Would you care to join me, my love?’
He could see the absolute unmistakable relief in your eyes when he asked you to join him.
He was no fool. But if you would have really wanted to stay on the ship, Sanji would gladly keep you company. No questions asked, but he knew you, and he knew that the fact that you joined Luffy and left the security of your little shop meant you wouldn’t want to be a prisoner on Going Merry. You wanted to explore the Grand Line. You wanted to see, learn, and experience as much as possible. So, he would do his best to support your dream and make it a reality by being by your side wherever you wanted to go, and offering you escape if you needed it.
Outside, he took your hand with an excuse on the tip of his tongue about how cold it was, or he didn’t feel steady on his feet even if he only had a single glass of red.
Yet, you never questioned the gesture and merely gripped his hand tighter synching your steps to his and making him feel grateful to be alive.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
‘How did you know I would like this book, Sanji?’
Sometimes, not too often, you would tell him about good things that happened with your old crew. Little things like how you helped a younger crewmember sleep or hid them in the storage room, or shared your dinner even when your tyrant of a captain refused to give them any.
You always made it sound so casual as if those were just harmless memories in the wind.
Yet, all Sanji could think about was, And who took care of you, my beloved?
When you were sent to sleep without dinner.
When you hurt yourself with your nervous habit enough to draw blood because you were anxious to fulfill all the wishes of your madman captain.
When you hid yourself in the storage room between the cargo if only so your crewmembers wouldn’t torment you while you slept.
When you endured the beating, you never spoke out loud about it.
Who took care of you then, my love?
Sanji knew he couldn’t be there for you then. You were strangers, unaware of each other’s existence in this world that can make a person starve so cruelly. For food. For company. For joy. For love.
He knew he couldn’t be there for you, and he was not at fault for it. But that didn’t mean he didn’t regret it.
And so, he made it his mission for you to always have him. After all Sanji’s sole purpose in this world was to feed the hungry. Whether you needed a tasty meal, a friend, a good laugh, or someone who would love you, he was there for you. His mission was a secret one of course. As much as he wanted to be honest and open with you to his heart's content, he could read you like his favorite book. He needed to be slow and patient with you. As lovely as you were, you were easily overwhelmed, and he didn’t wish to cause you more anxiety with his feelings.
It was in his nature to be good to women. To want to assist them. He wanted to feed you, to aid you when you couldn’t sleep, when you felt sad or needed help with your duties or errands.
He wanted to help you, but then…then you noticed he wasn’t sleeping and offered him your body to help him rest for god’s sake.
Then you baked him sweets because you wanted to do something nice for everything, he did for you even if he always wanted to do nice things for you regardless of any reward.
Then you helped him in the kitchen every chance you got and all sorts of different things you started to do for him that made his heart beat like it wanted to break free from his chest and fall into your palm.
Your presence alone already did everything for him he could ever need, but you still found new ways to do more. Always a hard worker. Always eager to help out more. Always so caring.
He couldn’t remember if he ever received so much from any of the women, he took an interest in, and he found himself glad because the idea that you were the first and only one warmed his chest and caused him to brush a piece of your hair behind your ear and say, ‘Beloved, you’ll spoil me.’
And if everything that you did for him wasn’t enough, you met his eyes embarrassed yet firm, and told him, ‘You deserve it.’
It was a wonder he didn’t react on instinct and sink to his knees and take you as his new deity or bury his fingers deeper into your hair and claim your lips right there surrounded by dirty dishes and your laughing crewmates.
He knew you liked to read.
He knew you liked spending time with the crew. Probably because of how little time you spent with your previous one, but he knew you liked this one and loved to humor them with their shenanigans, games, challenges, and such. But he also knew when it got overwhelming, and you needed your solitude. A moment to yourself, and your thoughts. A moment to catch a breath.
He knew when you were on your own with time to spare that didn’t require you to check and rearrange the storage or help catch fish, do laundry, or anything else you do it just to be useful and help out, you read. He noticed you tried to hide it or at least avoid the others from figuring it out. He would rather swallow rocks than to embarrass you on purpose, but he did learn the names of the books to later search for them in his tiny show.
When he found out what you read about, he smiled to himself.
My precious romantic
‘How did you know I would like this book, Sanji?’ you asked him slowly obviously surprised eyeing the book in your hands he brought on your first little date in the town that would be your final stop before Grand Line.
He smirked to himself and leaned closer to your face pressing a soft kiss against your cheek burning with affection for you grateful he could touch you like this, ‘If you’ll eat anything then I’ll just have to make personally sure you only eat delicious things, my love.’
He took great pride in the way your cheeks got red and the slightly embarrassed look behind your pretty eyes.
Koniec
A.N: Thank you for taking the time and read this. English isn’t my first language, and the story didn’t turn out as well quite the way, I wanted it to, but I hope you still enjoyed it. Have a lovely day and stay safe.
𝑵𝑬𝑽𝑬𝑹 𝑳𝑬𝑨𝑽𝑬 𝒀𝑶𝑼𝑹 𝑷𝑳𝑨𝑻𝑬 𝑼𝑵𝑭𝑰𝑵𝑰𝑺𝑯𝑬𝑫 SANJI X F READER ☆ ORAL; OVERSTIMULATION
Tumblr media
You can’t stop trembling; thighs on fire, muscles tensing, blond hair tangling in between your fingers.
Arched back forming a bridge in between sweat and honey-stained sheets; the architecture of pleasure and lust, and a river of past paradise.
Moaning, unstoppable. Legs trying to close, being forcefully held not to do so.
“I can’t… I can’t…!” pleads that beg for mercy, but a hand that pushes his royalty face against your core.
He doesn’t care, he keeps going. Sanji, drown in an exquisite fountain of your elixir, keeps feeding off your flesh. Dancing tongue that even sometimes penetrates, wanders through the ups and downs of your sacred anatomy.
“I am going to burst…” you whine, in between tears that begin pooling on the side of your eyes and run through your heated cheeks. “I can’t keep going, I need you to stop”
Sanji knows you don’t want him to stop; Sanji knows you want to burst… but even he didn’t, he won’t stop. Not now. Not every time he eats you out.
No chivalry is enough to surpass the first law that rules his morals.
“I’m sorry, (Name)-swan… I was taught to eat everything on my dish, leaving it unfinished would be such a waste… specially when your sex tastes so delicious”
sanji
1k words
“But the prince insisted on it, and they had to call Cinderella. She first washed her hands and face clean, and then went and bowed down before the prince, who gave her the golden shoe..” you looked down at the now sleeping lump on your lap, and gently closed the book.
“Looks like he’s out.”
Further out on the deck of the Sunny, you could hear the others playing. You identified Usopp’s voice and Luffy's laughter.
Chopper had fallen asleep to his bedtime story and was out cold on your lap. His tiny breaths were slow and even.
“He’s been sleeping for at least ten minutes. You know, if you read to him every night he’d probably have an actual bedtime,” Sanji said, his chin resting in his hand.
He was sitting next to you, having brought you a drink to offset the evening temperature drop that had sent everyone running for sweaters.
“I know. But he’s a pirate, Sanji,” you defended Chopper’s sleeping schedule, “And he’s old enough now to not need a bedtime.”
“Ah, maybe. But not too old, it seems, for a bedtime story.”
You rolled your eyes, absent-mindedly rubbing Chopper’s back as he slept.
“You know Luffy scraped his knee, playing around with Usopp all day.”
“You don’t say.”
“I swear I’ve seen him come out of battle with less injury,” you laughed, “I patched it up for him and he said he didn’t know I was a doctor.”
“I’m guessing all you did was clean it and put on a band-aid.”
“No idea how he’s made it this long.”
Sanji smiled as he took in a long drag of his cigarette.
“Don’t smoke around Chopper while he sleeps,” you said, scolding Sanji yet again for the same thing.
He blew out the smoke, before begrudgingly putting it out on the ground.
“Wouldn’t wanna wake the baby,” he said.
“He looks so peaceful,” you giggled, “I’m glad he feels safe enough to be resting thoroughly.”
You and the cook shared a long look at how his chest rose and fell.
He would soon be snoring.
Sanji laughed, “My god! Are you sure you didn’t slip melatonin into his hot chocolate?”
You shot him a look.
“He spent all day running around with those two over there,” you gestured towards Luffy and Usopp, “And Robin had him helping her out in the library earlier. Between all that reading and running I’m sure he tired himself out. Does he look comfortable?”
Sanji nodded, smiling at you.
You softly removed his hat from his head, setting it down next to him.
“Should we take him to bed?” you asked Sanji.
“Yes. Eventually. But it’s nice out. Let’s go in ten minutes.” “All right, my love.”
You leaned back, letting your arms support your body weight, palms against the wooden planks of the ship.
Sanji scooted closer to you, allowing you to rest your head on his shoulder.
You closed your eyes, not to sleep but to enjoy the cool air on your face and neck.
Listening to the sounds of laughter and footsteps come to an end for the day as sleep started to spread throughout the crew.
Sanji silently watched you, unaware of your own dozing off with Chopper on your lap.
He thought about how readily you read him a story from his favorite book. How concern for his well-being had become your number one priority while he was with you.
He felt his chest swell with a mixture of pride and love as he thought of all the other ways you cared for the crew.
Sewing Nami’s torn clothes, helping Robin with the laundry, reminding Usopp and Luffy to be mindful of their manners, and even making sure the swordsman was getting rest.
He brought a hand to your back to lightly rub it, pressing a kiss to the top of your head before gazing out at the open ocean.
Thoughts of painting a room with soft hues of blue and building a crib started to form in the back of his mind.
He imagined you carrying a baby, softly singing it to sleep.
Some unfamiliar feeling tugged at his chest, it almost felt like anticipation.
He took a deep breath and tried, to no avail, to direct his thoughts elsewhere.
A baby was- a lot. And you seemed perfectly content now.
And anyways, a pirate ship was no place for a baby.
He sighed and pulled his eyes away from you, settling them back on the sea.
Yet, he could imagine it.
With astounding clarity.
He could imagine buying diapers and binkies. Buying tiny clothes and matching outfits.
Waking you up in the morning with breakfast and coffee in a house of your own.
Coming home to you every night, staying in one place.
Your parents visiting and your lives being somewhat normal.
No bounties or navy or treaties or bars or women or swordsmen.
But not now.
The soft swaying of the ship on choppy waters lulled him back to where he was.
The sounds of life at sea slowly came back to him.
It was late and he had an early morning, full of cooking for the Pirate King ahead of him.
“Sweetheart,” he softly spoke in your ear, ever so gently nudging you awake, “Let’s get to bed, hm?”
You yawned, nodding.
Slowly you picked up Chopper, still dead asleep, and carried him down the stairs toward his room.
Sanji followed right behind, the reindeer’s hat in hand.
He opened the door for you and you walked in laying him down in his bed, pressing a quick kiss to his forehead.
You stood next to Sanji, bringing your arms around his waist.
He kissed the top of your head, and then your forehead, and then your lips.
“Tired, princess?”
You nodded, resting your head on his chest.
Sanji knew what he wanted.
What you, so fondly looking down at the sleeping reindeer, wanted as well.
But you both had so much time and so many things to do first.
One day, he’d give you everything you wanted.
But for now, he’d carry you to bed.
law
0.7k words
“Okay, what about this one? Or is it too much?”
You turned towards Law, trying to smooth out the leftover wrinkles in your dress.
“You look beautiful in all of them,” Law said, writing something down, only halfway paying attention.
You groaned, already starting to try on a different dress.
“You’re not paying attention.”
“I am.”
“Law, you haven’t looked up from your notes once. And you can’t just tell me I’m beautiful in everything to make up for it!”
“Well, you are.”
“Ugh!”
A smile spread on his face at your irritation with him, as he continued to go through the loose papers on his desk.
“Look, here’s a dress that proves you wrong.”
You slowly spun around in a hideously fringed orange dress.
You flashed him a sarcastically large smile.
Law, to your surprise, did look up this time.
“Gorgeous.”
He spun around in his chair, burying his head back in his notebook.
“Ugh, asshole.”
You sighed and continued to fish through the pile of dresses.
You spotted a black lace one with a gorgeous neckline.
Much better.
“Ok, fine! I look beautiful in everything, especially this dress,” you pulled it down over your head, adjusting the sleeves, “Please confirm.”
You watched Law slide on his glasses and turn the chair back around slowly.
You laughed, “You’re so immature.”
You enjoyed the rare moments when he allowed himself to completely relax and goof off.
“Just making sure I can give you an honest score, Miss Y/n.”
Oh.. this, he very much did like.
“Orange dress better,” he lied, amused at how this provoked you.
He kept his eyes glued on you, admiring how snug the dress was on your curves.
You were going to kill him.
“You know, it’s a good thing we don’t have a kid. Or I’d have to deal with two children.”
Law was just as intently eating up the sight of you.
He’d meant every bit of it. You were always beautiful in everything, and in nothing.
But that had caught his attention.
The idea of having a kid.
You and him with a baby.
You kept sorting through what remained of the pile as your captain's thoughts trailed. He could imagine it clearly.
He’d always made sure you had everything you needed, never hesitating to spend stolen gold on you.
But he’d give you everything.
After all, who better to give you a baby than a doctor who loved you more than anyone had ever been loved before?
You, waking him up in the middle of the night to check on the baby. The crew teaching them how to speak and read. Bepo would probably have to be monitored around the baby- but only because he was stronger than he knew.
Shachi and Penguin would make proper uncles, Law thought, and he was sure that, even if he didn’t, a baby could find amusement in the Straw Hats.
He imagined the two of you cuddled at night during your hypothetical pregnancy. His cheeks warmed at the thought.
He’d do daily checkups on you, and no better care would be available.
He was already months ahead of himself and decided that while he finished watching you get ready, he’d let himself imagine it.
“Okay!” you applied a final lipstick touch-up, and softly adjusted your hair in the mirror, “Will you help me with this necklace? I’ll be back around 10.”
Law stood up, stretching his back before silently making his way over to you.
“You mentioned us having a baby?”
You rolled your eyes and took hold of the hand he extended toward you. “If you’d like.”
He rested a hand on the small of your back and pulled you into his chest, your giggles flooding his ears.
“C’mere,” he beckoned you to follow him back towards the chair he just got out of.
He pulled you down into his lap on top of him, locking his arms around your waist.
“Law,” you whined, “I’m gonna be late.”
“Of that,” he started, “I have no doubt.”
You squirmed in his grip trying to free yourself to no avail.
“Relax, sweetheart.
You aren’t going anywhere tonight.
We have a baby to make.”
shanks
0.9k words
“You look delicious, baby,” Shanks lightly slapped your ass and you swatted his hands away, picking up your pace to try and keep up with the running monkey ahead of you.
Luffy had wanted to go to the lake and Makino asked if you’d take him.
You had a certain fondness for him, he reminded you of your siblings when they were his age, restless and wild, so you readily agreed.
“Luffy!” you called, “Luffy, slow down!”
Shanks laughed and wrapped his arm around your waist, pulling you in for a kiss.
You pushed your hands against his chest- he was so damn touchy!
“Shanks, please not now, we’re going to lose Luffy if we don’t catch up with him,” you said, starting to run after him.
“Alright, alright,” he relented and the two of you ran together, laughing, after him.
He was already setting up camp when you caught up with him- those stretchy limbs set you at a disadvantage- and was asking for his swim trunks.
You set down a towel and placed the picnic basket on top of it, throwing Luffy his trunks.
Shanks sat down and pulled you on top of his lap, grabbing a beer in the process.
“What’s that?”
The boy stood in front of you, one hand on his hips, the other up his nose, and pointed at the drink.
“Beer! Try it!”
“Shanks.”
Luffy reached for the can and you turned him around before he could grab it.
“Why don’t we go in the lake?”
“But Shanks told me if I try to swim all my hair will fall out and I’ll forget how to read.”
You turned to your boyfriend and shot him a disapproving look as he erupted into a fit of childish laughter.
“Well, you don’t know how to read anyway, so let’s go!”
You secured a pair of floaties onto his arms and ran with him to the water, followed by Shanks after he set down some rocks onto the towel so it wouldn’t fly away.
He picked you both up and geared up to throw you into the cold, clear waves.
Both you and Luffy tightened your grip on the man after realizing what he was intending to do and created a tangle of arms and hands.
He still made the effort, though, and ended up getting thrown in along with both of you.
You all came up laughing and gasping for air, and Shanks held Luffy as you swam, not wanting to risk anything by leaving him on his own in the water.
After an hour or so of swimming and splashing and throwing water at each other, Luffy started to get tired and let go of Shanks, paddling towards you as best he could.
You grabbed him and he held on to you, wrapping his little arms around your neck.
Within a few minutes, he was asleep.
Shanks, who also seemed to have calmed down, smiled at you and made his way over. He kissed your cheek.
“I’m gonna go put him down for a nap. He’s so cute,” you said.
Shanks nodded, not able to resist slapping your ass as you got out of the water.
You set Luffy down on the blanket, laying down next to him. He was out cold. The warm heat of the sun covered your body and lulled you to sleep right next to Luffy.
After another hour or so of swimming in the lake and looking for pretty rocks to give you, Shanks made his way towards the both of you, unable to control his smile as he saw you and Luffy asleep bundled up together, your arms wrapped around him.
He thought, for a moment, that he might just steal Luffy away and bring him on board the Red Force. But part of him wanted a baby that was truly yours and his, Luffy was wild and untamed, and Luffy had plenty of his own adventures and stories to live on his own.
But he could see it so clearly, with how you worried about the kid and cared for him. You were protective and he knew that if anyone threatened or endangered Luffy with you around, they’d meet a grisly end.
It warmed his heart in a way he’d never experienced.
He wanted, not just to be a dad, but to make you a mother.
He sat next to you both and watched, his heart full of contentment.
“Mmm.. Shanks,” Luffy slowly started to wake up, “‘m hungry.”
“Want a sandwich buddy?”
He sat up, looking groggy, and nodded, rubbing his eyes.
Shanks handed him a sandwich from the picnic basket and rustled his hair.
Luffy ate, asking Shanks about his maritime adventures, laughing at his stories.
“Did Y/n bring juice?”
“She sure did! But you should try beer!”
Luffy eagerly nodded and Shanks stifled his laughter as best he could, you were going to kill him.
You heard coughing and laughing and slowly blinked your eyes open, your brain muddled with sleep.
Sitting up, you stretched out your limbs and turned toward all the noise.
Luffy had a beer in hand and was chugging it, you saw several other crushed cans littering the ground.
They were both laughing and Shanks looked like he had tears in his eyes.
Shanks heard you stirring awake and shared a split second of panicked eye contact with you before grabbing Luffy and running before you could start yelling at him.
You took a deep breath.
“SHANKS!”
