i also think i dislike this new job on acc of the coworker i have 2/3rds of the time. she is honestly not very nice and made fun of me for wearing a mask (even though my allergies were so bad that i was sneezing the entire time i was trying to ring someone up—so i was wearing a mask for the benefit of the people too.?) and claimed that i was stupid for not being an anti masker like her

going to local ER instead since I’m losing too much blood, way too fast! last week was bad but this is scary and I need to be monitored ASAP!

#I’ll be watching all of your recs when I’m there 🙏#I also have so many updates and posts that I haven’t felt the guts to ever say #I’m sorry I’ve been a bad mutual but I’ve been a bad friend to all the online friends and friends from my university #im lucky I live in a condo community w/ lots of extention of family + help! my coastal city - particularly our part of the city #in a particular building where we all meet up together in the front on weekends #even at my sickest - I’m still pretty involved since we see eachother physically & I love cooking + baking for everyone on a 2x monthly #and we all walk the dogs together every afternoon in our dog walking by the harbor group #even then these old people have me in a group text and drop flowers off for me and me for them #living in a community is so helpful but it open my eyes that I’m not even just sick or even a bad friend but those two factors strained #my online relationships bc the effort was so much behind the scenes w/ my health and even typing something out that it makes messaging or #even blogging but I’d like to change that bc I want to be more overt online #and I explain how that relates to Palestine and findinfing joy + $$$ in this end stage capitalist nightmare #I want to be better but I also want to show people the joys of my city (a literal hidden gem yet is a national park) and so between fusing #ideas of environmentalism - community out reach & even descalation of yt Supremacist mentalities when doing outreach + volunteer #even our coastal environmental causes to such great causes that help indigenous latinx members of our community in particular #their rights and their accomplishments in agriculture & how fruitful this place is #we have the best strawberries + berries since they are indigenous plants but anyways from environmentalism to damn farmers markets #I live in a slice of heaven so why leave to go to LA and NYC when I create such beautiful joy by the ocean every day #we have such incredible water views in our condo along with the stunning plain mountains framing the water and sea of palm trees #every sunset is like Santa Barbara (we close!) w/ pink/purple/orange skies that are so vibrant that they make you take pictures constantly #especially with the herons nested there w/ there babies - so close to #is that we watch them all day long + the other coastal birds #all this Shit is random but I realized that if I put my effort into a few things academically that I haven’t even shared in these tags -#that I can have an incredibly fulfilling life while sick as long it pays for itself and I think I can do it w/ a few different plans I’m #creating but I’m setting up a couple of businesss for passive income - go back to grad schooo but for medical research or political science #IR my old life of international relations and start publishing my research on Palestine and Jewish studies #I just need to publish either medical or political but if I do that - have my east businesses that not only highlight my life #but may help the people and animals of my city #but I feel the change finally coming and maybe it took something like this to wake me up #so many funny typos but this was just a quick way to explain that I need to be more comfortable on video + online w/ you all but on tiktok

Not to be controversial but like what’s the actual point of a 2 minute silence. I can guarantee no ones sat there actually thinking about the war, and we don’t gain anything from it either?

Literature from the time and written by people directly affected by war has much more of an impact and actually shows you what the war was actually like, but yeah sure I guess having everyone in the country sit in silence and think about how they’d much rather be doing literally anything else is also a valid way to honour the dead

#and I say honour the dead but that’s not what we should be doing we should be discussing why so many died why so many were forced into a war #they didn’t want to fight and got killed for the sake of ‘king and country’ when most of the conscriptions and volunteers would have come #from working class families who didn’t have an option and who the king and never done anything for #they were fighting for ideals they didn’t believe in and led by men who wouldn’t fight alongside them but stayed at home and basked in the #glory of war #sorry I’m sat at work and I can’t help myself #I learn so much more about it from my a level lit and dissertation than I ever learnt in a rememberance day parade (and let me tell you I #was in a lot) or in an assembly at school about it #literature is the way forward for open discussions about this cuz the country is too scared to say they were wrong and confront their past #that’s not to say that you have to do an a level or a degree to learn about it but the fact is I learnt more about it from the books and #poems and plays I watched and read than anyone telling me about the ‘sacrifices’ all these young men made #anywayyyyy rant over #kiera talks kiera

Ugh fuck yesterday boss was like “go out and do stuff!!” And recommending all these different organizations and I was like nooo I don’t want to leave home… and then she mentioned the peace corps and now it’s a little bug in my brain. I should join the peace corps

So I haven’t talked about this on main before, but the situation in South Gaza has gotten so horrifying that I’m p much throwing caution to the wind to desperately plead for eyes on this. I’m raising awareness about stories from activists in Gaza right now, including one of our own.

My lovely, wonderful friend Swin (aka tumblr user @combaticon) was deployed as a volunteer medic to a Gaza hospital on the 9th.

When the bloodshed started, she heard they needed extra hands in Gaza, she spoke Arabic and had the training, and she went.

I’ve been in contact with her throughout. She’s so incredibly brave it takes my breath away. My heart bleeds for these children she’s taking care of and how resilient they are is… astonishing.

Swin and these poor people have been under siege for so long, and they’re in desperate need of critical supplies. They have to filter water through their clothes, and it’s getting dangerously cold. Foods finally been getting through, but there’s not enough blankets and jackets to go around and there’s no fuel for the generators.

Their comrades in the West Bank have been completely pushed out by settler thugs. It’s incredibly unsafe to even be doing humanitarian work for Palestinians. Remember this the next time a Zionist tells you they’re doing this to ‘feel safe’. The IOF is arming lynch mobs.

On a personal note, this has been the most gut-wrenching week of my life. Every day when I wake up without a text from her I feel so much fear. I fight back the grief but I don’t know how to help or what to do. It’s terrifying.

Swin has asked for nothing, absolutely nothing other than something it can show the people around it to make them feel like they’re not going to be abandoned. To make sure they’re not forgotten in some pit praying Rafah opens before Israel decides to slaughter them all.

Today was a bad day. She’s alive but beyond worrying about her privacy now; she’s asked me to share this and to beg that we not lose steam and forget about them. Please share this, and please keep being fucking annoying and loud and digging your heels in with fury because we cannot let these people die silently.

you were cleaning out johnnys bunk, the death still lingers strong within the force no one could bring it up, the elephant in the room. you were the only one to volunteer to clean out his stuff. you wanted to have some reminders of him, his passing still heavy.

there wasn’t much except a black shoebox with his belongings, you started looking through, two fat sketchbooks, a few rings and a few photos that had gotten dusty. you picked up the rings slipping the one on, a red velvety box. you opened up the kid with a pop a small yellow post it note.

‘finally got the balls to propose to her? don’t fuck it up johnny” a note to himself. to whom the lucky girl was you couldn’t tell; but if you found out who it was you’d save the box to give to her.

you looked through one of the sketch books sketches of all the force, random notes, drawings of various cool objects. you didn’t realise how good soap actually was. a few polaroids stuck into pages. one of him and ghost a few days before.. before he died. titled in soap’s signature scruffy handwriting ‘me and ghostie’

the other sketchbook very similar before finding a letter at the very bottom of the box. you opened it up.

‘dear the nosy git who looks through my stuff,’

the first sentence having you in a moment of silence, reading the sentence in his voice. making a tear well up in your eyes.

‘i’m most likely dead if your looking through my stuff so here’s my will.

- my sketchbooks go to gaz, only one of you that won’t ruin them.

- all my money goes to price in supporting the sas, I want it still running when i’m long gone.

- ghost gets all the photos, I know he’s a softie even if he didn’t admit it.

- y/n gets the ring, tell her i’ll always love her, even if I didn’t get to tell her.’

Ways to Live in Direct Opposition to Capitalism

I am by no means an expert in any of these things I’m gonna talk about, so keep that in mind! I am just making a compilation of things I know of that we can do to lessen the stranglehold the capitalist lifestyle has on us while enriching our lives, our surroundings, and the lives of others. Please add anything I miss or correct anything I may be getting wrong! Anyway here goes!

Use what you have, fix what’s you can, make what you can, accept from others, thrift what you can, and finally purchase as a last resort.

This is advice I have seen float around here a couple of times that can apply to a lot of things including clothing, furniture, food, and more besides. It’s meant to be done roughly in that order as it applies to what you’re wanting/needing/doing. It’s about preventing waste, promoting self-capability, having a heightened reliance on your community, and consciously rejecting the ingrained habit many of us have to just purchase things or services.

Here’s where you can read about sewing things yourself!

Here’s an online site for giving and receiving items for free!

Here is where you can find a local Mutual Aid to get things from, learn skills from, give do, volunteer for, etc. (in the U.S.)

Be politically active! (from a U.S. perspective)

Vote for every election. Know your representatives and those who will be competing in the next election. Vote without ignorance and without falling for unfounded claims. While operating within the system that actively oppresses us will not bring about the future we want, it can serve as damage control (preventing worse candidates from taking office) and it can potentially create a national atmosphere more open to change.

Developing strong, motivated, capable, knowledgeable, and inclusive communities is the ultimate way to combat the relentless and bleak present and future. When you’ve worked on the things above and have gotten good at it (or even if you haven’t gotten good at it yet), start spreading what you know and what you can do with others!

Give your neighbors, coworkers, and friends some of the vegetables you’ve grown.

Invite your community members to volunteer events.

Talk to folks about how to vote, when you’re doing it, etc.

Take part in Mutual Aids to teach what you’ve learned or whatever you may be an expert in! Invite neighbors, friends, and coworkers when you take part in the Mutual Aid!

Accept your community. Take them for who and what they are. Discrimination is the enemy of cooperation. You have much more in common with everyone in your community than a single billionaire or corporation. We’re all passengers on this spaceship earth.

Do it one step at a time!

Obviously we can’t do all of these things at once. Do what you can when you can, and you’ll start to notice real change in your life!

Our online communities where we talk about our visions and hopes are fantastic, but they have little impact if we don’t actually get up and do the real work that change requires.

Want to be better, and keep hope for the future!

Harbor and nourish that desire to be a better person and to be the change you want to see in the world. You need to be hungry for a better future if you plan to make it through the rough times when everything feels pointless and without hope. Reach out to others when you’re down, and be someone others can lean on when their lives get hard.
