“Help my Cat” Scam Going Around

Have you received an ask in your inbox from an account that previously wasn’t following you, pleading for a signal boost on their vet-related post? I got one today, but something felt fishy. Or perhaps “phishy” is more accurate?

Here’s the ask:

Now a couple odd things right off the bat. This is a blog I’ve never seen or interacted with, who wasn’t following me prior to sending the ask, so I immediately wondered how they pulled my name to ask for help. And while the world in general is a shitshow, so I can sort of see why a person would default to saying it “isn’t the best time to ask for help”, they say it with such confidence without knowing me at all.

Odder still, from their posts-- which at least do look extremely normal and human-like, down to the mishapocalypse profile picture-- we don’t share any interests aside from... well. Cats.

The other odd thing is them specifically requesting I reply privately, through DM or a private answer. I wouldn’t think much of it except they’re already asking me to publicly share something on my blog; if I’m going to answer the ask, why can’t I do so publicly?

I scroll through their blog some more. Their pinned post is, indeed, asking for help with their cat:

Weirdly, though, an earlier version of this post uses a completely different name for the cat??

This is bizarre to me and my red flags are pinging louder. Maybe it’s innocuous, though, I mean, it could just be a nickname or something? Why would you change it though?

Also, the post’s ratio is weird-- 101 reblogs to 44 likes. I suppose not too shocking if they’re doing this use-an-ask-to-get-a-boost tactic widely, but the ratio is pretty extreme. I check the notes. Every single reblog with tags has some variation on ‘boost’ or ‘signal boost’; there are no comments. No one has mentioned knowing this person, no one has vouched for the legitimacy of the post... but two mention that they were asked to boost the post.

*EDIT: Per a polite anon, I will clarify that signal boost/boost tags themselves aren't a red flag; what bothered me was that the post's ONLY interaction history came from boosts from seeming strangers. An active fandom blog, active enough to think posting a plea for financial help might get traction, SHOULD have at least one or two mutuals or friends who are willing to push the post and vouch for its legitimacy. Because the only engagement was from people who had clearly been approached via ask, like me, I got the heebie jeebies.

Okay, I’m doubtful enough that I’m not comfortable boosting this post myself. But let me check one more thing.

I search google for the exact phrasing of the help-requested post.

Ah.

There’s well over a dozen blogs pulled up with this exact phrasing. Most of them use the name “Koppi” instead of either “Ashel” or “Biscuit”, but a few use “Ashel”. The oldest result, from 2016, uses “Ashel”; more commonly, these results are from 2022 or earlier this year and again, most say “Koppi”. Also interesting: basically none of these posts exist anymore. Google can identify the exact wording even beyond what I included in my search query using whatever demonic powers allow it to reference removed content, but they’ve clearly been deleted.

Additionally, which I clarify for those like me who attribute Google’s quirks to demonic powers rather than an actual understanding of how it works: if the dates didn’t make it clear, these aren’t the blogs in the notes of falesyorac’s post. I cross-referenced the names. It’s not pulling up those reblogs, so presumably the majority of these results at one time came from someone who drafted and posted the wording to their blog, not from reblogs.

Maybe it was once a real post, maybe it’s always been a scam, but evidently the content of the post has been stolen and recirculated at this point. Along the way I found this as well, an anon warning someone who must have reblogged a version of the scam post:

So this is at least partly confirmed as a scam from another source.

Please be wary, do your due diligence before you put your money anywhere, and block & report falseyorac. I’m not sure the nature of the falseyorac blog originally; it may have been a real account that got hijacked, it may be a very convincing fake, it may be a real person’s blog who is trying to to leverage their innocuous appearance to pull quick money with a beggar scheme. Regardless, it is evident there is not a genuine Ashel/Biscuit needing help today and that whoever holds the falseyorac account right now is trying to pull a scam.

One more thing-- one of those reblog’s tags I showed earlier.

I also have a tag for reblogs of cats. (It’s “cats”.) I suspect this is where this particular iteration of the scam is pulling its targets from-- after all, people who reblog cats enough to tag them must care about them, right?

Finally, I am tagging the people who reblogged falseyorac’s post with tags (there’s too many for me to do everyone who reblogged it at all) below the readmore-- if I messed up and tagged the wrong person and/or you want your name removed, please just contact me and ask. I want to make sure you can see this warning, but I’m happy to untag you if it bothers you for any reason.

So I've been on this dumb website for almost 11 years now.

I wasn't actively re-/blogging the whole time but I was always checking my dash. Meaning, I pretty much got the whole damn experience of this chaotic corner on the internet. The big fandoms back then clashing and colliding and creating big waves of embarrassing memes and whatnot. (I was into Homestuck and let's say it all went a bit overboard.) I participated in tumblr prom. I was there when the mishapocalypse went down. Back then it was normal to know a fair amount of blog urls and their names and what content they post. You had small friend groups interacting with each other and would start skype calls after school and accepted severe sleep deprivation because of timezones. It felt like there was something new happening on here each day and of course most of it is awkward to look at today but it was a great deal of fun. Then, a few years ago, all that fuss started to fade and it got really quiet around here. Many of my favourite blogs went inactive and some friends switched to bigger social media sites. It was a slow process but soon your dash got smaller, the new entries over night got less and less. The traffic around my corner of tumblr got so little, there were no more asks sent, barely up to 20 new entries on my dash over night and most of the blogs I followed and used to love!! fell asleep or just vanished. No more group interactions, no more skype calls. Just a distant memory of the good times back then. During that time I checked my dash maybe once a week. It felt pretty lonely on here. But suddenly, something started to come alive. New memes popped up and I didn't even understand what it was all about at first. (I don't use any other social website beside tumblr so I didn't get the news) Twitter migrants. I watched from a safe distance what was happening and it was the first time I actually had some reading to do! Now we got the reddit migrants as well and holy fuck, I would've have never imagined this much traffic on this website ever again. Of course it'll never be the same like it used to be. That chapter is closed. But I can't tell you how happy I am to see so many new thoughts and impressions on here again. Tumblr has gotten it's flair of a chaotic scrapbook back again.

Weird, funny, artistic, supporting. So I guess I'll have to thank every social media refugee on here for bringing back life to this hellsite. I've got nowhere else to go. So I'm relieved we don't have to end like myspace.

✨HIIIIIII newcomers from Twitter✨

So, on Twitter I've seen a screenshot of a tumblr post with a whole list of rules that are - I'm sorry for using crude words but - bullshit, for the most part. So I was thinking, hey. Why not make a "how does tumblr works" with actually useful stuff in it. A non exhaustive list though, cause I haven't all night.

Introducing myself quickly first: I'm Keagan, I'm on Tumblr since 2012 (Twitter user since 2013), I have seen the best and the worst, I've been there for the first mishapocalypse, the great Sherlock s4 depression, and I was here when dicks and boobs where roaming the website freely and when the anti-boobs bot flagged everyone randomly. I took a sort of sabbatical after 2017 bc of the Sherlock depression, and the fandom kinda falling apart, and also bc I have a irl life that started to get interesting around that time, but I still came back regularly from time to time until now.

I know how this goddamn website works and I know why we call it the blue hellsite. I've been here since the dawn of ti- no, lol, i'm joking. :')

I started off as an aesthetic blog, then it quickly turned into a social justice/aesthetic/spn fandom blog, and this blog you see this post in is my fandom side blog, the one that saw the birth of my Sherlock obsession and the beginning of my fanartist/fanfic writer carreer. This hellsite saw my queer awakening. It saw me bloom and gain in confidence and self love. It taught me love, patience, pain, and the absurd.

So. Now that's done, let's go. Those are random things in no particular order.

In case you worry about Tumblr being very different than Twitter: yes it is different but surprisingly it's actually not that different.

Any of the following points, you will figure out easily anyway by yourself, Tumblr is actually pretty simple to understand and use, and you'll catch on quickly on the little things that makes it Tumblr, the "etiquette" and all.

For the most part: you can do whatever the fuck you want, no one cares (except dumb people I guess). But do we truly need to remind people not to be assholes with others ? Don't be rude. Duh

- One thing that Tumblr post I was talking about got right is: likes don't matter in terms of visibility, reblogs are more important. Likes are a comment more than a booster. So if you want to boost a posts' visibility, esp art and fics : reblog it.

- On the other hand you won't gain much visibility if you don't get people to reblog you, and honestly while existing here is pretty easy, you'll still have better chances at being visible if you reach people. I'm on a lot of SM and here is still the easiest though so don't worry.

- You can definitely scream into the void, like, it was made for it, this is shitpost paradise

- You can add dumb & insignificant comments to posts like "omg same" or "this is so true" - literally no one cares.

- And no one cares how you call your mutuals, moots, oomfies, pals, friendz, besties, mutts, - no one.

- We do use tone indicators here too. And there's plenty room to write the full words so it's not an obligation but a suggestion from me: sometimes it's less confusing to just say "i'm half joking" than /hs.

- But you can shorten words as you like, it doesn't matter. If twitter got you used to shorten words do shorten words, no worries.

- Your Tumblr experience is closely tied to who you choose to follow or block - you can curate your dashboard/timeline just like you do on Twitter, this is pretty similar. You can and should protect yourself from unsafe people anywhere. That's basic internet safety. Don't overthink this please, if someone is making you feel unsafe and bad, it is your place: block people.

The moderation here is not that bad but not ideal. So please use all the ways you need to make this place safe for you, and don't hesitate to call for people's help. This is a social media based on community. Don't let people trick you into thinking you are wrong for blocking people - or for calling unsafe people out. We have always done that here. We protect and support each other, ok? Good.

- You can follow hashtags, pretty much like on Instagram. In my opinion it's not always working well but you can.

- You can't bookmark posts, you'll have to put in your drafts the stuff you want to check later. And you'll likely forget them there so tell them goodbye as you go.

Eheh 🥲 (good thing i don't know how many tweets i have saved for later 😂)

You can make yourself a "read later" tag too. A tag that you're likely never gonna check either 🥹 Not so different than the Twitter bookmarks, you see.

- When you sign in, you create your main blog. The main blog - consider it like your account if you like - is linked to your profile, if you delete the main blog you delete your profile. You can create as many side blogs (side accounts) as you like (without using another email) and you can delete them without deleting your main account.

Sadly you still can't switch main blog and side blog to link your profile to a side blog, which I have been screaming for since this side blog became my main blog years ago 🥲🤌 this is my own "make tweets editable" cry

- If you're not familiar with blogs and how to personalise them, don't worry, there's a lot of themes you can choose that are simple to use, and the hardest thing you'll have to do is choose colors you like. If it looks hard, there is a ton of resources to help you, and most people will help you if you ask them (I will, honestly don't hesitate to hit the ask button).

Note that you do not have to touch it actually, it's just like your living room, some like it carefully decorated, others leave it at its most basic form, still usable. There is no obligation whatsoever. It's fun though.

If you like coding, you can edit the blog's code or make your own theme, which is pretty cool, I've learned some html modifying mine.

- You can ask stuff, anonymously or not, hitting the ask button on people's blogs. They will answer by a post, they can make it public. There is also a private direct messaging thingy.

- Tags work similarly than Twitter, meaning if you click on "#spn" you will see all things tagged spn - simple. There is some sorts of trends though it's not exactly the same as Twitter obviously.

But they are different in the sense that they serve also for organisational purpose: they are used to identify what's in the post, so that you can navigate blogs more easily. It's more like labelling your Tupperwares so you find them easily in your kitchen, you know what I mean ? The tags are also labels. The tagging system is also important when you set your blog up. You can put tags in the post but that's useless, the tag section is there for it.

- You can check on my blog (on web not app) to visualise it: you can add tabs and pages to your blogs: for example, let's say you want people to find your fanfics easy: you tag all your fanfic posts "fanfic"; on web, when you click then on the tag from your blog, you will have an url with "tagged/fanfic" at the end, you take that and when you create a new page on your blog (it's well explained how to do that in the settings), you use that url to create your tab. Sounds a bit complicated, just said like that, maybe but I promise it's simple. So you see the tagging system is useful to organise your blog.

You can also make pages to add information, like you would do with a carrd or a pinned tweet, you see. (You can pin a post here too). You can make it an "about me" page, or a list of your main tags, etc, whatever you like.

- Side note about tags: if you click a tag from your dashboard, you'll see all posts linked to this tag. If you click the tag from your blog, you will see all the posts you have reblogged or written - the ones that are present on your blog.

- You can communicate stuff in the tags, it's a whole extra expression space. Typically people use it to add comments they don't want people to reblog, personnal additions, remarks, rants, jokes, etc... There is no rule about not commenting whatever you like on posts but that extra space is often used for all kind of reasons.

The only thing is that back then the op wasn't notified for tags, it was pretty much a silent thing betweet you and your followers, now you can see all of them in the post's notes and notifications. So beware what you say, obviously don't be rude, and don't be alarmed if people answer to your tags, it's not so silent and discreet anymore. I kinda like reading people's tags on my posts but I prefered when mine weren't visible by everyone, to be honest lol

There is a character limit on tags, you can't actually add essays but you can write a lot (trust me). And as the comma and quotation marks "activates" the tag and separates them you can't write commas and quotation marks in the tags - I personally replace them with - or ; and ' when needed. It's something to get used to.

- Again on tags: typically, you put trigger warnings in the tags (though you'll see often posts starting with the tw, you can add both, just add them I guess), you can specify "personal" and "don't reblog" to warn people you'd like a cup of tea /i . And, not everyone does it but personally I appreciate when people tag the spoilers and specific themes, shows, characters or ships, so I can hide the posts marked with that tag.

- When tags are blocked you can still see the masked post show up in your dash, with its tags visible, which honestly is perfect bc you often get context in case you want to block words in certain contexts and not others, and if you block stuff momentarily (like spoilers) - you can still save the post to read it later without having to do it with your eyes closed.

- About discourse : of course there's discourse here, there's call out posts too, there's shit and obnoxious people just like everywhere else, don't come here with the idea that it's a heavenly place where everything is pretty and safe from all things annoying. There's discourse here too. There's bullying here too. About all sorts of subjects. (I've seen the queer slur discourse here like DAYS ago). There's shitty people here too. That's internet, contrary to what a certain post said, that's unescapable. And sure that's annoying but that's a fact of life - now you can shield yourself as much as possible by blocking people but honestly don't expect your experience to be way way different than Twitter in that aspect. Maybe less right wing old dudes bc Tumblr doesn't host the same démographic, though there was a nazi problem for a while, I don't know if they're still here tbqh, but that's overall not much much better, let's be honest.

- On your left, old time resident mr Neil Gaiman - but he answers "wait and see" to everything. /j

- Speaking of celebs, there isn't as many on Tumblr (it's said some have secret blogs but shhh 🤫), but there is often ask & answer events that are announced at the top of the dash.

- You won't be penalised for using certain words (even die or dead, the "unalive" wave doesn't crash on this shore), and you can put links if you like, even cashapp, kofi, paypal, etc, there's virtually nothing that will make you invisible in people's dashboards.

The only way you'll get shadowbanned here is if the Tumblr bots think you're a bot or a porn blog. Learn more here.

- But until recently, sorry there's a but, since the great "no tits" debacle, there's a bot that flagged your nuddity posts and it was so hilariously flawed omg (it flagged fucking DUNES I will never forget ahah) - anyway when they flag your post they hide it and you can make an appeal if needed, but honestly I don't think as much problem occured with it since a long while, that thing improved with time and the good thing is you can post artistic tits again! o/ yay

- There's virtually no character limit - there is one, but you'll need to write a long time until you hit it lol (I did once).

- Therefore : threads don't mean the same here. Here threads are successions of multiple people's comments. It makes for some interesting (and often hilarious) participative posts. Because there is no need here to cut your text into small posts, unless you are writing your memoirs or some shit. Look how much I've written already. 🫲Twitter could never. And if posts are long, you can add a "read more" button so it doesn't mean you have to scroll through gigantic blocs of text in your dash. and in the settings you can make long posts look shorter in your dash automatically.

- Related: threads aren't the same, you can't reblog/retweet a post that's in the middle of a thread. I mean, on Twitter you can RT the 1st tweet of the thread, or the 3rd, RT a reply easily - and in your TL only this one tweet appears - you can't really do that here. First of all here there is comments (or captions) and replies, those are not the same. If you want to reblog someone's comment to a post, you'll have to reblog it from their blogs - doable but honestly a bit tedious. And you will always reblog the last answer and all the ones that comes before. You reblog whole conversations, see.

So when you scroll through dash, you WILL experience mini heart attacks when seeing the 1st lines of some posts until you see the arguments that are closer to your moral standards - meaning you'll often see posts that are "shitty comment" then ten replies until you see the ones that says "wtf, it's shitty" - you need to endure the whole thing until you see stuff you agree with ahah, trust me this is FUN

- Here you don't livetweet, you liveblog. Otherwise it's the same. I'm sad I can't do both at the same time but it's equally fun on twitter and tumblr, especially for ESC.

- Like Tumblr said on Twitter: if you scroll your dash long enough you will have seen all of your friends posts. Yes.

- You can make your experience a lot better with the New XKit extension. Explaining it would take a whole ass post of its own so I'm not going to do that here but they have an account here where they explain everything, give updates and answer questions. I can only suggest to give it a look once you're familiar with how Tumblr works without it and with what doesn't work well.

- You can edit posts. You can schedule posts. Take it in 😌

You can edit them and actually - WOW - civilisation hasn't collapsed and bad people still can be held accountable for their shitty comments! Like on Facebook and Instagram too. Let it happen on Twitter, let it be the one good thing that'll happen amidst that awful chaos.

There's a twist though: you can edit your post, sure, but if someone reblogged the post before you could edit it, there will be two versions of your post in the wild. It can be a little bit frustrating. One way to avoid that: let your big and important posts sit in the drafts for a while so you can fix it before publishing it. An advice I never seem to follow.😬

- You can also change text size, font, put it in bold, italic, colour, you can make it gradiant like in Skyblog's most glorious hours, etc, and yes you can put alt text on pictures. You can add links or pictures in the middle of a post - I mean those are blog posts, so 🤷‍♀️

- The app is shit though ☆(ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ* (to be fair not as much as a few years back, honestly, but still, not ideal)(I'm using the app 🥲)

- And you can't translate posts easily, which tbh I think is a big flaw

- Tumblr is flawed but fun and it can be better, the updates are always shit, but it has well intentions and a nice staff.

I guess there's a lot of other stuff to say but honestly we've covered the main things to know and more. All the "rules" and "etiquette" you will learn as you go, Tumblr is no rocket science, it's simple and fun, it's a meme goldmine, great community experience. There's not real rules, you can use that site however you want, no one cares, nothing is serious, have fun, don't let people gatekeep this place with bs rules, build your space as you like, make it look like you. dude I've been lurking on tumblr for like a year and i still feel like there are things to learn. just like a week ago nothing was happening, first it felt like this when the queen died and then you guys celebrate the 2 year anniversary of some guys confessing to each other. Is it always like this, im getting whiplash...

I used to be like this constantly in 2012 if I remember correctly. Or more accurately, we had more days like this that became special occasions. Times when you'd hit post limit halfway into the day. Things that would cause it would be new seasons, new episodes, things like mishapocalypse... Sometimes politics, but we were mostly in our early teens back then, and pre-2016 wasn't as life-or-death as they have become now. We'd call Mitt Romney a leviathan and the worst that could happen, and pretend to sprinkle borax on him. We didn't know what would come. It was a simpler time, when ship wars were ship wars and not paedophilia accusations lol.

It was an insane time, and honestly so much fun. For us that were in fandom, at least. The "hipster side" (aka everyone not in fandom, mainly porn blogs and aesthetic blogs) had to deal with our crap. I think they mainly ignored us, but for the fandom side it was another fun "war".

Anyway I'm rambling. Most of us have been here for around a decade this year, and most of us joined at around the same age, so we have so much in common despite coming from very different places. A lot of it has turned into in-jokes that seem completely incomprehensible.

You wanna know my fav thing that I saw during 5th nov 2020? It was a post that just said "Cas died on a Thursday". It is so short and has so many layers. I love it so much. Completely understanding all parts of it requires knowledge about fics place in fandom, the supernatural fandom, Castiel in Christian mythology, one specific fic called Twist and Shout, and the CW release schedule for SPNs last season (specifically ep 18, despair).

I can’t decide if he means “I won’t make the mistakes that cost me everyone I’ve loved again” or “I won’t be close enough to anyone ever again so the prospect of their death can’t be used against me. If I have no ties to anyone, no one can get hurt because of me”

Couldn’t he have just become the new Ash? Not that Ash is replaceable, he most certainly isn’t, but he could have gone with Ellen and Jo and been their research guy, their “i’ll figure out the omens so other hunters can go hunt” guy.

what if that, but like...Nicolas Cage?

...no no, wait, hold on, hear me out!

so, Nicolas Cage has a movie coming out this year that I’ve been losing my mind over for a couple days now. the trailer is one of the funniest things I’ve seen recently, and I have no idea how to handle it. I mean, he plays a fictionalized version of himself! it looks like it’s gonna be horrible! I can’t wait to watch it!

and it comes out on April 22nd of this year

I personally will not. Here are my reasons:

That image of him still painful to watch.

Why choose that image on the first place?

What is the real purpose of the Mishapocalypse?

Who decided to choose the first annoying image for the first Mishapocalypse?

Knowing now that THAT PARTICULAR IMAGE of Misha isn't liked by him because its from an specific painful experience/time for him. Why are people who declares to love him still using it?

Isn't it possible that even the idea of the Mishapocalypse was created from a Misha hater with the soul purpose of paint this, again, awful and bad memory image of him all over tumblr helped by herd thinking?

AND NOW INCIDENTALLY another awful image/still of him, charged with such a bad memories is demanded as herd movement to be used for this spontaneous New Mishapocalypse.

And now my unrequited analysis of this new still/image that the "masses" demand to be used for this Mishapocalypse.

This particular still its a memory for all of us of how Castiel sacrificed himself for love, and we can also read that here Misha is looking for the last time to his beloved husband friend Jensen acting as Dean on screen. And knowingly that this will be the very last time they will do this together.

Its charged with emotion that could be interpretate as bad because the general feels for all that love we have for Castiel in the first place, and then Misha by extention. Also remains to be the very portrait of a wonderful Canonization of Destiel but still managing to be painfully homofobic for the way HE HAD TO GO AND NEVER RETURNED AGAIN after saying all of this things to Dean. *sights*

Now, if I were to understand the purpose of this "movement" called Mishapocalypse and as an eager fan of Mr. Collins I want to participate.

I will probably choose one of this two images:

First I apologize for the quality, its 7am of January 1st and I refuse to leave the confort of my bed and cats all over me to capture a better quality image.

This one is from the same moment. It's one of my favorites because is showing Castiel at peace and happy to offer his life for a better cause.

He is not only sacrificing himself for love, he is choosing to die instead of the better soldier whom he knows will win the final battle.

Or yet another proposal I dare to make additional to the other two I already proposed.

It's iconic and from a great moment /cause when tumblr not only banned our p0rn, but with their stupid guidelines tried to sensor the human body and all the art people create here that isn't necessarily erotica.

But, as I stated in the beginning of this long first of the year answer Ask (new resolutions of keeping the inbox updated) whatever YOU nonny or others decide to participate or join to do as a way of celebration for the existence of Misha Collins? (to be honest, I'm still fussy on the purpose of the Mishapocalypse)

It's your prerogative and you must do whatever you wish to express any warmth and fuzzy feelings you have for Dmitry.

Let me tell you what I will be doing on the next April's Mishapocalypse and I did yesterday when I was summoned to this impromptu Mishapocalypse.

I'm only sharing here what I AM choosing to do. Again, because I'm lazy and I could also help at this local animal help group that need kennels to be cleaned and dogs to be cared for, that eventually I will, I promise.

So if this post inspired you (because this is my main target, not just to flaunt how good of a person I am, because of Misha of course) to do the same and celebrate Misha's existence but can't afford to give money. There are plenty things to do for your fellow neighbors and if you have been playing attention to the Overlord, any small act of kindness can make a difference for ALL OF US.

@ the earlier anon that I see others responding to, here's my story, I suppose. Apologies in advance for the monologue.

It was 2014 when I first got my tumblr account.The mishapocalypse had passed over before I'd joined, but there were still artifacts of it to be found. It was just a bit before kin as a concept and the community became big, which I believe, at least in my circles, peaked in 2015.

Now, why did I start in 2014? Simple. Homestuck. Homestuck was massive, on a scale that literally rewrote the rules for fandom and fandom interactions. I'd invested a great deal of my identity into it at the time, and eventually someone I follow or someone who's followed by someone I follow brings up kin in passing. I take a peek that turns into a deep dive into it, and I end up kinning NINE different characters, unincluding the different canons, timelines, and AU variants (both canon and noncanon).

I've since grown a more spiritual and nuanced understanding of my past lives now, so I don't know if I would say I kin any of them anymore, but even if I don't... I'm glad they were there. I was fourteen, and I just kinda needed a sense of identity to cling to.

- Terezi Pyrope, Aradia Megido, Rose Lalonde (I know you could probably tell from the four paragraph answer), Peregrine Mendicant, Jane Crocker, The Handmaid, Neophyte Redglare, Damara Megido, and Latula Pyrope, at some point.

F-for me you shouldn't have...

So... I didn't even know they were called Lokma or Loukoumades till I had to look it up for this post... like for real I always just called them honey balls (hehe innuendo) or something. I grew up eating these!!! But only like once a year... We get them at the local Greek Church when they have their yearly bazaar... Idk I've always gone there every year (except in 2020 which is sad) mostly because we know a lot of people there you know like family and family friends and all that stuff... and it's very nostalgic for me...

Yum yum... Little crunchy on the outside but it's kinda soft and airy on the inside and then it's sweet and good and yum. It's sticky because of the honey so it can be messy. Eat them fresh or they're not as good like. I mean they just made them and you shove all of them into your face immediately, okay? Okay.

O - Choose a song at random, which ship or character does it remind you of. I did a few randomizations on my main playlist until I found a song that I had an association with. For me it chose Do You Realize?? by The Flaming Lips. This song unsurprisingly has a lot of association for me. Most recently this song was used in my Data/Riker playlist, but the song gives me huge Star Trek vibes in general. It was also used in an AMV I made last year with Doctor Who! The AMV was mostly about the Doctor, like... in general, and their companions, and all that. So I always think of the AMV when I hear the song. Z - Just ramble about something fan-related, go go go. You know, usually people would use this spot to talk about their current hyperfixations or whatever else they’re thinking about in relation to like, a character or how much they love a show, but mine’s a little different. It’s fan-related as in related to fandom. So basically, I joined tumblr in the wake of Superwholock. I saw the Mishapocalypse happen in real time. Tumblr University, Dashcon, in and out of all kinds of fandoms. Although my url was originally theofficialblogofofficiality (I know) my primary username on most websites was what it is here, yournewlodger. So, as you might have guessed, I came to tumblr thinking primarily about everyone’s favorite science fiction television series (not really.) The ‘who’ in Superwholock. I was obsessed, as most people were, from middle school to early high school, only really dropping out when the Ponds left and Clara came in, and completely fizzled after Matt Smith regenerated. Not necessarily because of Peter Capaldi, but I was thirteen so this old guy in a young man’s shoes certainly didn’t help. Now the Whovians certainly got up to mischief back in the day. We were always the first to hijack posts with *jumps into the TARDIS and flies away* on posts we didn’t like. We had infighting about ships and showrunners and all that. But it was all really lowkey compared to the Super and the Lock in my opinion. After the video essay about The Johnlock Conspiracy and the re-awakening of Destiel, we’re all remembering our days in old fandom, namely Superwholock, with a much more critical lens. But I’ve joked with my friends for awhile now that Doctor Who ‘won’ the Superwholock race, because while it definitely had its faults, the fandom never got as intense as it did with the other two. Or did it? I really want somebody to do some deep diving. What were the trials and tribulations of the Doctor Who fandom during the Superwholock Era? Were we more subdued because we were steeped in much older lore and a much more mainstream show? Or was there something I missed because I was thirteen and didn’t understand the internet? Obviously I’m not asking you. This is a rhetorical call to action to any of us involved back then. It’s just something I’ve been thinking about recently with all the old tumblr nostalgia floating around. This was horribly long, but I hope you enjoyed regardless.
