Period Sex - FUCK Yes - It's messy, it's red, it's kind of flashy actually, and Buggy loves it. You don't grow up on the most famous pirate ship in the world without being comfortable with all sorts of things. I feel like everyone under Roger's flag was, we'll say educated, and as such I can't see anyone from that crew being put off by menstruation.

Plus, orgasms are a cure for some, and there's one way to find out if it works for you to alleviate any cramping you may be feeling. You're going to be a complete mess by the time it's done though, Buggy's a little blood-lusty, surprisingly maybe, but he gets feral, and more so than with lipstick or makeup, he loves to "mark" you.

Aftercare - Oh god you don't even know - He is a terribly stressed clown, but I also think he's a big damned softie too. Buggy really is just as comfortable brushing your hair as he is ordering the crew around. Maybe more so, honestly. All that hair he has though, and that makeup he wears, the man's skin and hair care routines are on point as much as his eyeliner game. He will take care of you after every session, even if he subbing or bottoming some of it.

I think Buggy's desire to serve is almost as strong as Sanji's honestly. If you're an important person to him, he doesn't want to let you down, and he will devour your praises. But he's also The Captain™, and no matter what his role was, he's going to provide you proper aftercare.

Dacryphilia - No. - Sure sometimes tears happen. Sometimes you're so overwhelmed they slip out, sometimes you are chocking on the impressive package this man has. Sometimes tears happen, but Buggy doesn't like tears. He doesn't want to see you cry. If your makeup smears he wants it to be cause of sweat and pleasure and touch, not because you're crying. He's not even good at handling happy tears, let alone any other kind.

Buggy's more of let-him-do-the-crying-for-both-of-you type. He'd happily be the only one stressed to the ends of his capacity, than to have you worry. (Which probably worries you xD it's a bit of a cycle like that).

Sir Crocodile:

Period Sex - Yes - He doesn't mind the mess. The cause doesn't bother him. The only reason it doesn't rate higher is because it's hard to know if your period will heighten your pleasure or your pain - that lack of control bothers him, no matter how well or fast he can adjust accordingly.

He also doesn't see it as marking you the same way some others do. It's your blood, not his. It has a scent that isn't his or his cigars. If anything it's an annoyance because you should smell like him, and you shouldn't ever be hurt enough to smell like blood. You shouldn't be close enough to violence to even know what blood smells like, at least as far as he's concerned. But he'll soothe your cramps and discomfort in any way he can when it's that time.

Aftercare - Oh god you don't even know - As said before, Crocodile is all about control, and aftercare is required for control. You don't want to leave your little bottom/sub spiraling with all sorts of thoughts on their own. Whether we're talking toxic AU or not. Aside from the control though, he enjoys it. It's time to bond, to discuss, to connect. The more he knows about you the more control he can exert.

I think there should bé a fic where anyone from the grid would be third wheeling Landoscar, like, have you seen how these two interact.

So, I lack the ability and the time of f1writingbyme and LestappenForever to make this idea into a proper work like they did for "How (Not) To Third Wheel Lestappen" (check it out on Ao3 if you haven't already, definitely worth it) BUT BUT BUT, I can tell you how I think most of the grid would react in third wheeling Landoscar!

1) I feel like we should spare Checo, cause honestly this man has had enough as third wheel of Maxiel and Lestappen, I don't wanna give him extra traumas, SO –

2) Logan Sargeant: this one I really feel guilty about. Cause I like the narrative of him and Oscah being besties and still I cry over the sad edits of Logan just left behind. I think Landoscar with Logan has the most space for improvement?? I forgive Oscar even tho he definitely ghosted the poor Logan for the whole honeymoon phase with Lando (it's been almost two years, Osc, get a grip). I have a feeling Logan will speak up at some point and this would shake Oscar a little, so maybe he would be the more aware and more involved third wheel, possibly? They'll end up doing triple video-games championships with Lando and Logan mocking Oscar's gaming skills, mark my words.

3) Carlos Sainz: my man how does it feel to know you've wasted your chance (multiple chances, lets be real) for good? I have mixed ideas about this one, cause I think it would probably being more like Lando struggling to keep them both as close as possible resulting in Oscar being rightfully jealous 👀👀 so the third wheeling situation would be like Lando trying to involve a very annoyed and confused Carlos in their things (safe for work, ofc). I don't really see a way out of it.

4) Daniel Ricciardo: I mention him but I can't really explain cause honestly my idea of Daniel third-wheeling Landoscar is either him babysit them around Australia and bonding with Oscar over weird aussie habits OR OR OR something very NOT SAFE WORK so ( ... )

5) Max Verstappen: I love to think he'll remain an unbothered king, you know? Like he's well aware and a bit upset that his crepes companion invited someone else (beside from Daniel) to their dessert dates and that the two of them acts like lovebirds even without an actual physical contact. He'll probably send SOS texts to Charles and Daniel until a topic of (his) interest comes out and honestly at that point the power of maxplaining will win over pretty much everything and everyone. At the end of the day Landoscar turn out to be the real victims.

6) George Russell: poor thing was originally invited for a golf morning from Carlos (Landoscar were already supposed to attend), but Chili called off last minute so Georgie ended up with just the others two. LET ME TELL YOU he jumped off the golf cart cause he saw Lando placing a hand on Oscar's thigh and feared for his life. It took several minutes for them to notice he was aggressively walking behind. He was also hit by a golf ball because Oscar distracted Lando for a second too long, I guess you can figure out the rest.

7) Special mention to the PR and the McLaren team in general who's main job rn is having them to SIMPLY F O C U S outside the pit for like interviews and debriefings. I can picture Lando losing it after hearing a single compliment like "SO YOU THINK I'M PRETTY", cause ✨babygirl✨ energy hitting here and there, even tho he has tried to be somehow a model for Oscar, at least for what concerns work. Indeed I pity trainers and strategists bc ofc Oscar listens at them, but image them trying to explain a concept to him just for Lando to get there and rephrase it in the dumbest way possible and Oscar going like OHHHHH NOW I GOT IT, COULDN'T YOU EXPLAIN IT THAT WAY?

8) This is mostly a guilty pleasure but do we all agree they torture the entire f1 group chat with their subtle flirting?

IDK if this was what you had in mind but I really REALLY had fun writing it.

Oh you're new to Tumblr? Ahhh word of advice then- If I may? It might be a good idea to change your profile picture. Tumblr has a big bot problem. And a lot of the bots have default profile pictures just like yours. A lot of people might see your account in their feed and just block/report on sight. Not fun.. also I suggest you do the same though, if someone with default profile picture, banner, no bio, no posts follows you... that's probaaaaably a bot and should be blocked--

ANYWAYS! So for the Captain Barnacles/Crab comic. I don't plan on finishing it. And the reason why I abandoned it was because the way I had written the comic had everyone acting out of character. The blood was over the top, it was too dramatic,, ugh.. I got tired of my own comic half way through making it. <XD

The comic was gonna end with the rest of the crew showing up, they take the Captain to the octopod, and Peso cries because "I was too scared to help the Captain.." Which is just stupid <XD

Peso would not cower in fear in this situation. Even if Captain Barnacles turned like that and became very scary. Peso has had an extended history of getting it together and braving through anything to help creatures in need. And if his own Captain/friend was hurt? Nothing would stop him. Nothing could scare him away.

In the perfect re-write, Peso would ace this situation. He would approach Barnacles perfectly and calm him down. He would patch the wound, guide him to the gups. Guide him into the octopod and into the med-bay. Expertly deal with the wound and clean up all the blood.

Sure maybe after everything was done he would cry a bit out of the stress of it all. But originally everyone else did everything for Peso because he was too scared to help the scARy CapTAIN OOOO!!

Nah, that dumb. Peso is way stronger than that. #justiceforpeso

I made one yeeeaaarrs ago when I was into Sonic. But it centered around a Sonic OC of mine. <XD I don't tend to do much insert OC stuff anymore..

I imagine Bonnie would just sigh and try to get through it on his own. And not go to Foxy for help.. Worse case scenario he gets overwhelmed and shuts down on stage and ruins the show. Which is fine by him. He'd think, "Serves them right for puttin me on that stage. Faz-bear entertainment deserves to have their show flop for how they've treated me.. for how they've treated us."

Its hard to say, I didn't ever like.. try to replicate an art style and draw something unrelated. Like- if I was drawing in the gravity falls art style, I was drawing gravity falls stuff. I wouldn't draw in the gravity falls art style and draw random ocs and stuff. If that makes sense-

But maybe one style was easier to draw hands in than another. So I.. might have adopted some stuff..?? I guess??

Taking the quilt off does nothing, the quilt doesn't bring them to life either! Remember that Bibi could talk when he was a still picture and was brought to "life" without the use of a quilt or even any glowy effects. Also Jangles had a quilt as a drawing and was "brought to life" using a pen!

The point I'm getting at is, Pen? Quilt? It doesn't matter. None of these methods actually give the characters life. I do. All these fancy ways I seem to bring them to life are just for show <XD

To put it simply, fanart makes me feel bad. And Comments make me feel good. So I prefer comments to fanart. 👌

To complicate it a bit, when I post artwork I'm just sitting there all giddy waiting for the first "AKSJKASAU WAAAAA 😭😭😭" comment to pop up. When I get fanart I immediately get frustrated and uncomfortable. Fanart feels like stealing and usually invokes a negative reaction from me. So if people want to show their appreciation for my work, leaving comments is 100% more effective and preferred. 👍

Blake was normally one to yell. But, y'know, for views. He never yelled at you, he never has, and you honestly thought he never would. Until the night he stayed up for LTLVC. He hadn't slept in 33 hours, but hey, he just won fifty thousand dollars.

You had to deal with him screaming and yelling and making all kinds of different sounds throughout this year's LTLVC. You hadn't lived in the Group House until this August, so this was your first time seeing all the shenanigans first hand. It was definitely interesting.

You also wound up turning into your boyfriend's maid. Bringing him everything he wanted or needed, like water or a snack. Hell, you even kept the guys company whenever Blake had to go to the bathroom.

After waking up for what you assumed would be the final time during this LTLVC, you could tell.. Blake was losing it. He was talking about random shit, it basically looked like he taped his eyes open. It was him and Larry sat in the vc along with Isaac. The final two. Then, suddenly, you hear your boyfriend, "KICK HIM! KICK HIM! DISCONNECT!" And that's when you knew, Blake just won this year's challenge.

You smiled wide, jumping up from Blake's bed. "You won?!" He smiled at you, "I WON! I FUCKING WON!" You stayed by his side for a bit, waiting for them to finish up the recording. After about five more minutes, you guys were in the clear. Blake stretched and groaned loudly, "My.. GOD!" He sighed out, his limbs shaking from how much he was stretching.

"Baby, you just won fifty thousand dollars!" He stood up, "I know." His demeanor suddenly changed. "Blake? You okay?" He swatted his hand toward you, "Not now." He walked to the bathroom, very sluggishly, so he left you puzzled. He just won his first LTLVC, and now he's in a horrible mood?

"Blake?—" He groaned, "Oh my GOD, what?! What? I haven't slept in 33 hours, what do you fucking want? PLEASE just let me fucking sleep!" You immediately raise your hands in defense, as you've never had your boyfriend yell at you. At least, not in a serious way.

"Nevermind." You sighed, heading towards his bedroom door. "Don't fucking be like that, what's the problem?" Blake spoke through gritted teeth. You rolled your eyes at him, "I said nothing! I'll be in the living room. Bye." Blake rolled his eyes in response to you, "Whatever! Go sleep on the couch for all I care!"

Ouch.

Huh.

He's never said that one to you before. Was he serious? "Are you serio—" He nodded, "Yes! Now please get the FUCK out so I can sleep!" He slammed his body down onto his mattress, almost immediately falling asleep. You strolled out of his room, spotting that Nick was in the living room. "Hey, Nick?"

Nick looked towards you as you made your way down the stairs, "Hey! Heard prince charming isn't being too charming?" You sighed, "I don't know why he's being a prick." Nick laughed, "I know why. He hasn't slept, He hasn't had a proper meal, and he's just really, really tired."

"He told me to come sleep on the couch." Nick hissed, "Oooh.. Rough. He'll get over it. Promise. He'll be splitting that fifty grand with you in about.. four business days, he'll be asleep for the four days." Nick handed you his untouched cup of coffee, "Want some?"

"Y.. Yeah, sure. When should I go check on him?" Nick shook his head, "No, no, he'll come down here when he's ready, promise. He'll regret everything, try to make it up to you." You started softly crying, your blurry eyes focused on whatever was playing on the TV. "I'm just scared I made him really mad." Nick shook his head again, "Nope, Y/n.. Look, he gets like this after every year's last to leave. This year's just so much worse, because he won. He is tired."

You nodded while sipping your coffee, "Thanks, Nick." He nodded at you, "Yeah, sure. We can stay down here and watch whatever you want until you fall asleep down here?" You nodded, "I'd like that."

A follower asked me to write about Tav killing herself to be free from ascended Astarion and I have a lot of trouble with writing his reaction because I really don't know how he'd react to that???? It's stressig me out so much pls help me

Hello there, petal!

I think this ask has been sitting in my inbox for a while, I'm so sorry. I haven't been on top of it lately. (But I'm getting to it, I swear! I know a few people are still asking why I hate Astarions reaction to Tav's romp with Mizora and I'll definitely get to that, do not fret!)

But anyway, let's see how I can help, shall we? I did a bit of research and watched a ton of ascended Astarion content so that I could actually give you proper advice and ohhh boy, when I tell you that I've had clients like him before...blegh. But, as always, do take it with a grain of salt because I'm no expert. Just a social worker with a lot of time to watch vampire videos, apparently, haha.

So, to recap: Your Tav committs suicide in order to escape from ascended Astarions grasp. And I guess he only finds out after, seeing as you need his reaction, yes?

I can see why that would be stressful, but it's probably less because you really don't know how he'd react and more because there's a disconnect between the reaction he'd actually have and the reaction we all want.

As both a writer and a reader I'm not ashamed to admit that I'd want him to suffer. I'd want him to realise all his faults and where he went wrong and I'd want him to cry because he fucked it all up, so much so that he's now lost the one person that loved him despite everything he has done.

But with ascended Astarion, I don't think a reaction like that would be very likely. True vampires are a bit difficult when it comes to things like guilt and shame and loss, as in they don't really seem to take it the way normal people would.

Or, rather: They can't react to them the same way normal people would.

Where a normal person would go through an entire circle of mourning, a true vampire is probably going to throw a tantrum and create a demiplane that he can sulk in. (Looking at you, Strahd.)

Instead of sadness, It's very likely that he'd react with anger. A LOT of anger. The anger likely won't be self-directed - at most a little annoyance because he didn't lock them up harder and more securely - but it will most definitely be directed at Tav.

I don't think I need to explain that while ascended Astarion does not really love Tav anymore he does want them.

Tav is his. Their entire being belongs to just him. Only he get's to decide when and if they're allowed to die. They're his to destroy and his alone. So how dare they kill themself without his permission? How dare they take away what's rightfully his!?

And just as anger replaces sadness, it's very likely that blame overshadows guilt and shame. So he doesn't feel shame over how he treated Tav. He doesn't feel guilt over how he drove them to suicide. No, instead he blames Tav for their decision because they're spoiled and unthankful.

He is not the problem, they are. He gave them everything. Everything one could ever want, they had. He game them power. He gave them wealth. A palace. A life filled with all sorts of pleasure, right by his side. He granted them eternal fucking life. What more could they want? What more could anyone want? He did everything for them, and they threw it right back at him like a spoiled little brat. He should've been sterner, should've kept them on a tighter leash. Should have showed them his bad side so that they'd learn what staying on his good side meant.

The only thing he'd probably actually feel is loss, but once again... it'd be different. It's probably less the gut-wrenching feeling of loneliness that suddenly haunts you when you remember that you won't ever get to speak to someone again because they're no longer here and more the upset of loosing a beloved item. So more of a 'fucking hell that was my favourite fucking thing and now it's gone'. There'd probably be some despair in there because he can't simply replace Tav but that despair is, once again, likely tied to his possessiveness and not to true loss. He'd be desperate because he wants them - he wants them - but not because he's just lost the one he loves.

That's probably the reaction I'd expect of ascended Astarion and, as you can tell: It's not what one would expect of a fanfiction, yes? We'd expect the heartbreak and the sorrow, the guilt and the tears because we love Astarion and Astarion is supposed to love Tav. We want him to love Tav. And those who like him ascended want him to love Tav even as his ascended self.

Now, does that mean the reaction I described wouldn't make a good stroy? Absolutely not! In fact, I do believe it would be a nice switch up in between the very heavily romanticised ascended-fics because it adds that shot of realism. (As much realism as a high-elf-vampire can have, at least.)

So, what I'm trying to say is: Don't worry too much about what is "correct" and what isn't and instead focus on what you want to achieve. If you want to hit your readers with the sad truth of ascended Astarion, maybe go for the approach I described. And if you want to be a bit softer and more romantic, have the boy cry tears of woe.

Or you could go totally crazy and do both things - have someone watch him and describe how they see it - the points I just mentioned - but once you describe what's happening inside him, go full on romance novel and break our hearts!

Find your own path, petal, I'm sure it will be a lovely read either way!

Here's Asmo's ver. of the Cheating! Au, it was fun writing this one 💓 I've had a hard week and seeing how much people love the things I've made really cheers me up <3 Thank you! And I was wondering if you guys would like it if I made a discord server for Obey Me? I think it'll be fun ^^

I'm gonna add a CW for this one just because it discusses a lot of sexual insecurity!!!

"Asmo.. it feels amazing! Yes... right there!" As if someone had just punched you in the stomach, you felt like all the wind was knocked right out of you. You couldn't bare to hear the sounds of moaning and skin-slapping coming from Asmodeus' room, you knew what was going on even if you didn't want to admit it. It was awkward enough to hear your housemate having sex, but Asmodeus was not just your housemate. The two of you had been dating for months now, so when you heard the lewd noises coming from his room it felt like your whole world just shattered.

You were just passing by, you honestly didn't mean to eavesdrop but the strange noises caught your attention the second you heard them. The more you had listened, the more the realization had sunk in. It felt gross listening to them do that, you wished you could just barge in and yell at them to "shut up" but you didn't have the guts. You didn't even want to see the unfaithful demon, let alone confront him. Not knowing what to do, you began to cry. Your mascara that Asmo had done the same morning was now ruined with your tears. You put your hand over your mouth in an attempt to muffle your sobs and ran to your room as fast as you could.

You didn't leave your room for the rest of the day, dreading the thought of see the man who broke your heart. Perhaps you should just act like you didn't know anything? Or maybe you could just confront him head on, but how could you? You knew you'd probably just break down in tears and become a slobbering mess who can't even form a proper sentence.

You don't know why Asmo would ever do something like this, he showers you in affection and love all the time. He's always been sweet to you, he calls you "Sweetheart" and even does your makeup when you don't want to do it yourself. HE was the one who confessed to you first, did he not love you anymore? You didn't want to think like that, he's been more loyal to you than anyone else in your life has been. When you met him for the first time the relationship was definitely rocky, he said some cruel things but once you two began to talk more you fell in love with him, did he ever love you back?

There was a knock on your door, before you could even respond someone walked in. You turned to look at who it could've been, and much to your dismay it was Asmo. "MC! What happened, you haven't been out of your room all day... and your makeup all ruined!" He tilted his head as if he was confused..? You didn't know if he was playing dumb or he genuinely didn't know you found out about his affair. "Oh.. I've just been tired," not wanting to look him in the eyes, you shifted yourself on the bed to face the wall, "you should go, dinner is soon." He didn't seem guilty, he was acting just like how he normally did and it made you even more upset.

"You should eat with us, maybe you'll feel better after you eat?" You shook your head "no", "I'll eat later, I should be fine if I rest for a little bit longer." He slowly walked over to you, his footsteps were light and quiet. He sat down next to you and began to stroke your hair, you wanted to scream at him, you wanted to kick him away from you but you could never do it. You didn't want to hurt someone you loved so much, it felt too cruel to the both of you.

"Maybe once you feel better we could have a spa day! Hehe, that'd be so nice. After that we could go to a nice café and just enjoy the day together! Ooh then we could go..." Too deep in your thoughts, you unintentionally drowned him out. You couldn't focus on what he was talking about, all you could think about was what he had done, his unfaithful actions.

"Asmo," he didn't seem to hear you so you shifted yourself to face him, "It will be so fun going around... Oh, what's wrong?" Grabbing your waist, he pulled you into a position where your head was under his chin and you rested on his chest. "Do you love me?" Asmo hummed a yes, "Of course I do! I love you so much!" You were curled up in his chest like a sleepy cat, you were mentally exhausted just from today. "Then why'd you do it?" The sudden confidence you gained surprised you, maybe it was because you were tired of his blatant bullshit. "Do what? Did something happen?" He looked in your eyes, but in reality he was looking at his through yours.

"Why did you have sex with someone else?" Your voice was quiet, barely loud enough for him to hear. His eyes widened, he quickly regained his composure and spoke. "Ehh.. well, I needed to be satisfied." He smiled at you like it was nothing, it felt like he had just stabbed you in the back. "Why didn't you just come to me..? I'm your partner after all." Tears began to form in your eyes, you didn't want to do this. "Because you don't have much energy when we do it.. you get tired so quickly that it's no fun..." A sad expression appeared on his face, not one out of regret or guilt but instead boredom and disappointment. It was directed at you, he didn't see anything wrong with what he'd done.

"... So you're not sexually attracted to me?" You hid your face in his chest, your makeup rubbing off on his nice clothing. It hurt, the conversation was tense and painful. You just wanted it to be over with, but at the same time you wanted to know everything. "Ehh, I guess. I love you a lot! But sex with you isn't any fun, I'd rather just sleep around with demons and succubi who have more energy." He let go of your waist, you could tell he was growing tired of the conversation. "So you started sleeping with others?! Why didn't you tell me I wasn't good enough? Why? Why?!" Removing your face from his chest, you stared him straight in the eyes. Your fear was now subsiding, instead you were being drowned in anger and despair.

"I still love you! You're my only romantic partner, it's just you don't satisfy my sexual needs so sometimes I have to go to others." He gave you a chilling smile, no remorse or regret. A pounding heart, smeared makeup, and eyes filled with heartbreak were all caused by the Avatar of Lust. The demon you loved oh so much had betrayed you in order to fill his sinful indulgence.

"I'm breaking up with you." Asmo's movements stopped once he heard those words, he was frozen in place like a statue. You broke free from his grasp, getting up from the bed and slowly backing away from where he sat. "We're through! You're a self-entitled jerk! Get out of my room." You signaled for Asmo to get out, but he just stared at you in shock. "It's not my fault, you weren't satisfying me! So what if I need multiple partners for sex? I'm only romantically involved with you!" Asmo's demeanor quickly shifted, the conversation was turning aggressive. "Do you see nothing wrong with that?! You kept it hidden from me, maybe if you told me I could've done something!" As the situation worsened both of your voices began to raise, both of you were now yelling at each other.

"You know what, if you're not gonna get out I'm going to leave." You grabbed your bag and packed everything you could fit in it, all while Asmo was trying to convince you not to break up with him and that it wasn't his fault but instead yours. You didn't care to wipe off the smudged makeup, you grabbed your shoes and stormed out of the house. He didn't chase you, deep down you wanted him to but he never did. It was an indicator of how he felt, along with his brothers he is also selfish. They kill, manipulate and lie in order to satisfy their sins.

The once beautiful memories you shared with Asmodeus now felt like painfully cruel ones, as if the gods were tormenting you for involving yourself with him. Wishing you never met him, wishing you never even arrived in Devildom. All the memories you thought were sweet were secretly cruel and manipulative, they were tainted with agony. You now knew the true colors of Asmodeus, you knew all along but wanted to ignore it. Your love for him blinded you, once you took off the blindfold of love you saw how tarnished everything was.

Silver Talks AniManga (07/04/24)

new season starting and a new serialization round on wsj too next week fun times fun times also there's some shows that I haven't started that should be on the list, those being: - Shinymas, which started on friday and CR supposedly picked it up but still hasn't posted subs yet 😒and there's no fansubs either - Jellyfish, dogakobo's new show that I posted about when it got announced. I wasn't sure about it so haven't watched ep 1 yet, but my buddy mega liked it and said it has promise so it convinced me to actually do it next week in one of my days with no shows - Girls Band Cry, similarly to jellyfish I posted about it when it got announced. I love the character designer and have followed them for years so I was curious about the show but learning that it was gonna be CG was a huge turn off. Since it came out I've seen some clips and the cg is actually really good so I'd like to check it out regardless of it being like that. There's just a huge problem, that it's not officially licensed anywhere and the subs fucking suck ass (whole drama thing around them I won't get into) so unless it gets proper subs in the next few weeks then I'll have to pass on it

Mission: Yozakura Family Ep1

that was a good first ep. there wasn't anything impressive but if they keep up this quality throughout the whole run and just have some sakuga crumbs sprinkled in every now and then I'll be content. from the PVs the first few eps all looked good and it's been confirmed for a while that it's 2 consecutive cours so that gives me some hope. Also the whole voice cast is very good but that's to be expected from such a star studded cast but anyway yozakura is a very fun manga with a very likeable cast so I'll be looking forward to this every week

Blue Archive Ep1

well that was about as good as I expected, really good ep 1. TERRIBLE subs tho so I'll be hoping a fansubbing group picks it up soon. It's been a billion years since I saw these early parts of the story since I've been playing the game since launch but I still remember it p well. I'm assuming they'll cover the whole abydos arc and only that from what we know from pvs and stuff, so should be a fun time, especially when aru and the crew show up too. Looked really good, animation was nice too, voices were good too ofc and hearing the game tracks in the anime was nice too. I'll be looking forward to this while it airs for sure

Metallic Rouge Ep 13 (Finale)

MR was bones' 25th anni show so I had some good expectations and I thought the premise was neat too (felt like blade runner) but it turned out very lackluster. I shoulda known that the glut of bones' talent is allocated to mha but I still wanted to have some hope for the show. my buddy mega gave it a 4 and that's probably fair, the show is riddled with issues but I liked the performances enough to be a bit softer with it (miyamoto yume and kurosawa tomoyo [the two mains] especially) but anyway, animation was pretty weak all through the show, even having times where it felt off model. there were some crumbs of sakuga but never anything actually impressive like you'd expect from bones, even in the finale. the story was pretty hard to follow for a good while too cause they decided to start mid journey so there was a ton of stuff the characters talked about like everyone should know but we'd have no way of knowing and then also did a not great job of explaining things until way later on. also the finale was looking like it was gonna end on a sequel hook which made me ??? but it actually didn't so that's good the music was actually p good and I enjoyed a buncha tracks from it and the voice performances were good too anyway, not a terrible show but not worth the watch too, which is a shame for an anni project like this, oh well

The Witch and the Beast Ep12 (Finale)

well that was alright. I had higher expectations for it cause like I said on ep 1 I heard good things about the manga but it was alright. Doesn't help that the show didn't have very much in the way of animation. It had a lot of cool drawings but the animation itself wasn't much to talk about. The cast was good tho and the music was also nice albeit not that memorable. As for the story, I don't mind anthology series like this but all the world explanations and reveals that they did at the end of this finale shoulda been waaaay earlier in the show, cause it actually made me a lot more interested in the world, but maybe that's just me and my DM brain being like that and most people like how it was already. My favourite of the stories/arcs was the sword witch one, not just cause swords pog (tho it helps), but just cause it had some really cool moments and I liked the charas more Anyway, the finale ended on a sequel hook but there hasn't been one announced (at time of writting) and I don't expect to see one either but I also said that about wedding rings and chained slave and was wrong about those so who knows really. Dunno if I'll ever end up reading the manga but the anime didn't put it completely out of question and I did like the lore they gave this ep so we'll see

Bucchigiri Ep12 (Finale)

well that was nice. it's funny how I only learned about this show like a week before it started while I had been looking forward to MR for a while and MR turned out a lot weaker. it was a bit unfocused at times but it was still good. I didn't go in expecting much out of the animation cause it's mappa and jujutsu s2 had just ended and you know all the stuff that was being talked about it around then. and I was right not to, cause there was never anything impressive really, tho the few fights that did have coreography looked cool oh also it had the best OP/ED of the season like I said on this post show felt pretty old school too, not just cause of the designs but the general low tech (no smartphones or anything) so that was nice not really much more to say about it, it's not a show I'd recommend watching but it also wasn't a waste of time. it was just a way to spend some 20 mins having a fairly enjoyable time every saturday

Dungeon Meshi Ep14

man I've known kabru is a little freak from all the posts I've seen about him here but he's even worse than I thought. and worst of all is I could relate to him in some parts 😔 tho knowing some of the stuff that's coming I know there's more differences than things in common but still good ep tho, even if I'm not a big fan of him or his party (yet?) the new op is a banger tho like it a lot more than the first one, tho I prefer the first ed over the one so equivalent exchange I guess

MamaYuyu Ch29 (Finale)

I know it's weird for a finale to end of a cliffhanger like below but it's cause the actual final chap will be in the volume release. shame that it turned out like that but not much you can do about it. it was a good series tho, from the start you could really tell from the designs that the author worked as an assistant to horikoshi. their panelling is super creative and unique and the art was really good too. the action was clear and easy to follow for the most part and the power system was neat as well. I'm totally convinced that this author could have a hit in the future if they keep doing serializations. I've said this a billion times for the last handful of series that have ended but it's a shame that something like nue keeps trucking along and doing decent in the rankings while good series like this get axed. the 7 score is provisory cause we don't have the actual finale, but I doubt it'll be bad enough to make me downgrade it to a 6 so it'll prob stay like that. I'll be looking forward to whatever hayashi does next, like I said before they certainly have a lot of potential

Ello people!!

It's been a while, huh?

Sorry for barley posting anything- I've been extremely busy and taking some time for myself. I don't have time to be on social media alot and all-- I know I said I would be posting art- but we'll leave that to later on. (I've been suffering with art block)

I've watched the new episode teaser/trailer for the owl house season 3 finale and I am SO hype for it. (IM NOT READY FOR IT- ITS LITERALLY THE LAST EPISODE- GUYS IM CRYING HELP)

I'm not much of a theory person but I have seen some great ones being said on this platform.

. . .

But others- not so great.

Some of these theories have bothered me a bit- and I kinda wanna give MY views about it-

I'm extremely sorry for starting on with a bad note but most of the things I wanna say I've been wanting to let it out of my chest for a while.

Now, when I say my opinions about what I'm about to discuss, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO AGREE WITH ME. These are MY opinions that perhaps a few people may or may not agree with. This is also not gonna be about one episode- it's more likely discussing more about all of the Episodes on season 3. Also- no HATE I'm not much of a person who can explain things properly- I'm not trying to offend anybody and if I do- I'm incredibly sorry!!!

Now, let's start with the first topic.

Hunter stans

Okay, now- I'm not talking about ALL of the Hunter stans- and there's nothing wrong with liking Hunter at all!! I think Hunter is an extremely amazing character for some people to relate to, and lemme just say, IM SO HAPPY HE STOOD UP FOR HIMSELF AGAINST BELOS- OUR BOY IS GETTING BRAVER EVERY DAY- WE LOVE TO SEE IT!!

But one thing that bugs me is the fact that SOME Hunter stans sort of-- make Hunter's trauma and character in general the main thing- or the big spotlight of the show (if that makes any sense at all)

Hunter isn't the only one with trauma- and I really think people should start appreciating other characters other than Hunter.

IM NOT ASKING FOR YOU TO STOP LIKING HUNTER I'M JUST TRYING TO EXPLAIN THAT HUNTER ISN'T THE ONLY CHARACTER OF THE SHOW AND THAT WE BRING ALL CHARACTERS SOME SPOTLIGHT OTHER THAN HUNTER ALL THE TIME.

Point is, yes, Hunter has trauma, yes we should give the boy love but ALSO YES the other characters ALSO have trauma and YES we should give them love.

It's ALWAYS ` Hunter this ` ` Hunter that ` `Hunter experienced this `.

It just sort of- annoys me.

(please don't come at me-- I'm really not good at explaining things with the right words-- sorry if this sounded offensive )

Huntlow shippers

Okayyyy-- this topic-

I have- NO HATE to the ship.

I think it's pretty cool how they adorably care for eachother and you can totally ship them! And it's totally valid!!

I only see them as incredibly cute besties with incredibly cute platonic feelings for eachother and I think that's pretty valid too.

The problem isn't the ship- it's more of some of the shippers that are the problem.

Key word: SOME!! NOT EVERY PERSON WHO SHIPS IT!!

The problem is that they PUSH the ship onto people who DON'T ship it.

Take this as an example: Let's say you met somebody who shipped Hunter and Willow together and you didn't-

You probably ship maybe- Edric and Hunter or Skara and Willow or Boscha and Willow or any other ship-

Or maybe you just headcannon them both as AroAce ( WHICH IS ALSO VALID TOO)

Because you ship something OTHER than Huntlow- they're gonna start throwing at you a ` OH BUT HUNTLOW IS CANON ` or ` HUNTLOW IS BETTER ` ` THOSE TWO HAVEN'T EVEN HAD A PROPER INTERACTION- SHIP HUNTLOW ` or even ` THAT SHIP IS TOO TOXIC `

Obviously you're gonna start feeling bad- or angry. The point of shipping is to ship two or more other characters and just make em all cutesy and lovey dovey- like- let people ship whatever the heck they want! (As long as it's legal-- non-proshipper-wise- I've seen so many proshipper ships that TRAUMATIZED me)

SOME Huntlow shippers have made other shippers who don't ship them feel bad about what they ship. It's hurtful and it just BREAKS the fun on the idea of shipping.

Something else that also makes me upset is the fact that whenever I go see the Willow tag, there's always gonna be Huntlow and barley just any Willow at all.

It sort of just makes it seem like the whole point of Willow's character is to just be with Hunter- IM NOT ACCUSING ANYBODY ON INTENDING TO DO THIS- but all I'm saying is that we need more Willow on her own spotlight- the whole point of her character is to see how much improvement and change she's going through- how much she's getting stronger.

That's one of the points if the show- to see characters develop, change and improve.

Belos/ Philip

Many of you people might be wondering what I'm talking about so lemme just give you a bit of an explanation.

2 days ago, the trailer for Episode 3 of season 3 came out and have us a sneak peak of what's to come for the finale. (GO WATCH IT IF YOU HAVEN'T- UNLESS YOU DON'T TO AND YOU JUST WANNA KEEP THE WHOLE THING A SUPRISE WHEN THE WHOLE EPISODE COMES OUT. IN THAT CASE- SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!)

We saw Luz wearing Belos' robes numerous of times throughout the whole trailer and there has been this one theory that has been passing out everywhere.

People are theorising that Luz is going to KILL hunter.

I for one don't think so.

If that was the case, is she going to start consuming palisman?? (Including Stringbean and all of her friends' palismen)???

Does this mean she now has the intention to KILL EVERY WITCHES/DEMON ON THE BOILING ISLES including Eda, King, Hooty and everyone else??

Does this mean she's going to become Belos??

No.

Luz would NEVER kill anybody- yet alone harm them AT ALL.

What some of you are suggesting/describing is not LUZ

Literally, the whole point she's the in the first place was to HELP the boiling isles.

She's not going to kill Hunter. She would NEVER.

Yes, she does compare herself to Belos.

But the only reason why is because she ACCIDENTALLY HELPED BELOS.

Because she helped Belos, he put the thought into her head that they're like eachother. He put the thought into her head that because they're both human, they're the same.

Just because Luz is dressed up and cosplaying as Belos, doesn't mean she IS him.

I think, that Luz is in a DREAM and she's WATCHING what BELOS DID through HIS eyes.

She's probably going to see how Belos killed Caleb and why he did it. She's probably going to see what he's done to the other grimwalkers including hunter.

She's probably going to see things that have ALREADY HAPPENED. Hunter isn't dead.

Luz is not going to kill Hunter.

Boscha

----------

Some of you might know that Boscha is one of my favourite characters.

Not because she's a funny character, but because I believe that characters like her can change. We've seen it many times with other characters from different shows.

For example: Sasha from Amphibia, Pacifica from gravity falls, We've seen Amity change aswell as Matt! We've seen Lilith change, Steve, Hunter!

But I've come to notice that alot of people portray her badly-

I get it, she's done really fucked up things to Willow- and i get that she hasn't really gotten a proper redemption arc- but we can see that she's trying due to the recent episode which was episode 2 on season 3.

Alot of you are saying that Boscha calls Willow half-A-Witch, and although we DO hear her say it on episode 2 on season 3- Alot of you are saying she's the one who STARTED the whole thing-

Amity started it, not Boscha.

I honestly don't think that Boscha's whole intention was to push Willow down and make her feel worse on that one hallway scene in the recent episode. But it was as if she was almost- relating to Willow in a way. It was certainly not a healthy way if doing it- but you get the point.

I think Boscha relates alot to Willow- and maybe she's also a little jealous of Willow.

I think Boscha is misunderstood and it's just trying to get people's approvals in a wrong way.

I can totally see her getting closer and becoming friends with Willow and the Hex-squad if she wasn't acting like such a bitch all the time-

I can see her changing and improving.

She can become a better person.

Another thing is the headband that Boscha has got in her head-

NO SHE DID NOT KILL HER PALISMAN AND USED IT AS A TROPHY- SHE DID IT TO MATCH WITH HER CRAB PALISMAN-

It's honestly cute that she did that- but anyways-

Another and probably one last thing-

The whole thing about Boscha having a crush on Amity.

While it is interesting-

It is a bit of a no for me.

We can see that she's lost almost everything- including her friends (which she obviously cares about)

Because of that- as soon as she saw Amity, she probably thought ` Oh! Amity's somebody I've been close too! Maybe if I fix our friendship- this means I haven't lost EVERYTHING `

She's obviously desperate for a sense of familiarity.

She's desperate for somebody to give her a sense that she's not alone and she hasn't lost everything.

And the way Boscha handled that was really unhealthy- I know.

But the clinginess shows how desperate she is.

I don't think people understand that losing a friend is just as painful as losing a partner.

` BUT SHE GOT ON ONE KNEE!! `

Getting on your knee(s) can also be a sign of ` please, forgive me `

Although it looked like a proposal- I think the crew was trying to indicate that Boscha is desperate.

OBSESSED with your timeloop AU and your last post about made me thinking… When Pete kissess Vegas, would he remember all the timeloops? And in case that timeloop fails for any reason, would in the next timeloop Pete be aware of all of them and because of it still act as naturally as possible because he'd conclude pretty soon that if he gets involved with Vegas too soon the timeloop would fail? So in the last timeloop, things go perfectly and when everything is done, Pete tells Vegas that he remembers all the loops but didn't tell him sooner because it would mess things up and in the end they are the only ones who know the entire truth and it additionally bonds them.

Sorry for lenghty ask, I'm just really curious 🤗

OOH THAT'S SUCH AN INTERESTING SCENARIO!!!!!!!

i gotta admit i haven't really thought about a proper resolution for this entire time loop AU yet, mostly because it's just something rattling around in my brain with no real purpose, and now im a bit torn because part of me REALLY LIKES the idea of pete remembering all the timelines after kissing vegas (sort of like TRUE LOVE'S KISS SFJKSHFKSG) and having to sort of guide him into making the right choices without telling him that he knows for everything to go well, but another part of me (the overdramatic hoe one) is like.. WHAT ABOUT MORE PAIN

because i also kinda like the idea of paralleling the original timeline, so i was thinking something like.. after pete kisses vegas they end up having sex (and yeah, vegas should probably know better but he is weak, and tired, and desperate, and needs-wants-misses pete like oxygen), but it only makes the situation worse for pete, because while something in him tells him that this is RIGHT, that this is how things are supposed to be, he still doesn't remember all the different timelines, he just has these pieces of memories that are and aren't his own at the same time, so he keeps being incredibly confused until he breaks down, like in the show, and vegas is horrified to learn what the constant resets are doing to pete, because he had no idea

so vegas ends up explaining to pete what's happening, hoping it would help him, but pete needs time to process everything, and vegas vows not to fail and reset the timeline again, even if he knows that it could mean pete doesn't end up loving him. it's like the ultimate sacrifice he is willing to make if it means pete won't be suffering like that anymore. turns out he actually manages to do things right, the conflict between the main and minor family still kinda happens, that's inevitable, but with kim's help vegas manages to convince kinn and porsche about what's happening, and the only casualties in the end are kan and korn. and im not sure about the circumstances, but basically what i was thinking it could happen is that vegas STILL gets shot in front of pete, and the moment pete is crying over vegas' body, THAT'S when all the memories of all the different timelines (even the original one) flood pete's mind

of course this time vegas survives and we still get our hospital scene, the only differences are that vegas rightfully steps up as the head of the minor family, while kinn and porsche control the main one, and that pete tells vegas he remembers everything

Hi Fi, I hope you've been doing well since I last checked in. Pardon the Big Chat, but I just got caught up on some posts I had missed and figured it'd be better to just react to them all in one go.

I am so stoked to see you like Bungo Stray Dogs! My freshman year of college, my suitemate got me into it and we watched probably the first three episodes before her evening class. Lovecraft deserved way more screen time and I don't understand why he isn't the same threat level as Q when the whole point of the Cthulu-mythos is contact with it will drive you insane. Chuuya is god-tier husbando material. He's a good bad boy, a half-good, half-bad, half boy. The pretty red hair, sharp blue eyes, the choker and body harness, we're really eating like Queens. I'm an Akutagawa girly myself. I can't help but love him even though his narrow-minded approach kills me a bit. Have you read the Beast spin off?

Also I gotta know, is Lysandre a black-coffee supremist? We already know that cafe is bougie af. And I know the jealous hybrid!Larry thing was meant to be hot, but I can't help but think of him doing that squat/leg warmup thing he does in-game before going off on whoever was being too friendly with his mate.

And God, I can't imagine telling Cyllene about Cyrus, or having to explain what drove him to do such a thing. On one hand Cyrus always had a hard time understanding and interacting with the world around him, especially in terms of emotions and subjectivity. But he was also abused and lacked any proper emotional-support and companionship, all while being placed under extreme pressure to succeeed in all things until he broke. So, a tender-hearted wish for the world to be easier to live in got misguided into a desire for a world without emotion and attachment.

I like to play with the idea of being his little sister. So for me it'd be me telling my great-great-something grandmother that I'm her (and Laventon's via Surveyshipping) descendant, and at some point their legacy and values got misconstrued, leading to my parents being so abusive that my brother went rouge. Cue Grandpa Lav crying and Granny Cyllene being silently ready to beat someone's ass.

I think I got into Bungou like in my last semester of high school/right after graduating. Then I dragged my poor friend into it lol. Lovecraft, sadly, can't get too much screen time because he's a little too OP. I mean he literally died and regenerated. I think his ability's relation about madness is shown when Q attacks him since he kinda scared them by showing them his "insanity" or whatever. The fact his voice actor is a singer too is really cute to think about, because I like to imagine Chuuya sings for that reason lol. My friend like Akutagawa at first, then she's like latched on to Kunikida and is Obsessed. I haven't read Beast, but I really should. I really want to, but I keep forgetting lmao

Lysandre almost certainly screams black coffee guy. He probably doesn't even offer cream or sugar in his café and asking for some gets you thrown out.

I really, really think Cyllene of all people would want to help him. He is her descendant, and she's obviously a lot more soft-hearted than she lets on. She's a bit motherly towards the teens in her unit, so I don't doubt she'd be that way with Cyrus if she ever met him/he ended up in Hisui. I should probably write more on Cyrus in Hisui because I do wish to explore more of the possibilities of what would happen should they ever meet proper.

Solaris, the utterly mind-blowing Atari 2600 game

I was going to upload a longer GIF of the game, but it turns out the game is a bit... flashy at times, so I had to trim out the UI and cut it off far earlier than I wanted unfortunately. Discretion is advised if you wish to see footage of the game in action with the full UI, as it can flash a fair bit, and the game has occasional full screen flashing effects too.

That being said, I uh... yeah, wow. Multiple gameplay styles in pseudo 3D with a proper like, menu thing that you use to... I think move around a sort of world map? Look, I don't fully understand the mechanics of this one, I'm kind of too blown away by the visuals here to pay attention to that one whenever I play this thing.

From what I can tell though, basically in Solaris you travel between various different section types, some on planets, others in space, and you use the scanner map thing to choose which kind of section you want to do next. And you can't move through something if you haven't already cleared it.

I don't really understand the overarching objective, but what I do know is that it's fun to shoot stuff in the game and the moment to moment gameplay is fun enough that even if you're like me and can't be bothered to read the manual to understand how it works (I assume the manual explains better what's going on anyway), the game is probably worth giving a look just to see the sheer spectacle of this thing!

Of course, it being an Atari 2600 game, I can't imagine there's too much I'm missing about how the mechanics work. Even the most complex games for the system tend to only require so much explanation, and that's stuff like, E.T. or whatnot, wherein weird symbols are explained in the manual and you have to know how those work or you will be hopelessly lost on how the game is supposed to work.

In other words, while there's probably more going on here and I bet if I played it enough times I'd catch on, I also could probably beat the game just using my current knowledge of the mechanics without ever really fully figuring out what the exact win condition here is.

I'm admittedly less sure what to say about this one overall though, I just think it looks cool and is decently fun to play.

Seriously though. How the actual heck did somebody pull this off on the 2600??? I feel like I've seen demoscene stuff on there that I understand how it'd be possible more than this for crying out loud.

This is a system with 256 bytes of RAM as a reminder.

If you didn't know that before, go back and watch that GIF again. 256 bytes of RAM. And no framebuffer of any kind to speak of, you had to re-adjust sprites per scanline on the darn thing.

Somebody looked at that and said "oh yeah, this should be a reasonable game for that". Somehow. And pulled it off, too.

Like... I dunno, if that isn't impressive, doubly so for a game most people seem to have forgotten about, I don't know what is.

obviously fans are REALLY upset. and even as someone who isn't THAT crazy about astro and has been a fan for a relatively short period of time this is kinda fucked up 😭 i have a really big soft spot for rocky and i know the past few months haven't been great for him (long story) so to see it come to this is just kind of :') i will absolutely feel his absence and i'm really worried for the guys!! this can't be easy but it's not like they can talk about it. but then i remember the stuff with his brother recently and i think that gives me a little bit of comfort. like by then it probably had already been decided he would be leaving the group so i think it cheers me up a little that he's still doing things that make him happy. it reassures me that he'll probably be fine and this will be for the best, but i can't imagine this was an easy decision to make and i do hope he takes it easy.

AND THEN. THEIR COMPANY IS BEING HORRIBLE ABOUT ALL OF THIS. so we got the news not even a day ago, everyone feels awful, and then they suddenly announce moonbin and sanha are going on tour??? READ THE ROOM, HELP, FANS ARE LITERALLY CRYING. i'm just amazed at how disrespectful that is towards both rocky and the fanbase.

but to make things worse. the tour announcement has a typo 😭 how do you make a typo on an official announcement, this just doesn't feel real to me help. but whatever. it was rlly insensitive and just an overall horrible idea to drop the news like this but the news are out. and guess what. they're fucking coming to my city and i dont know if i should feel excited, i'm going through the 5 stages of grief 😭tbh idek if i could go see them but like... i guess i'll keep it in mind?

And there it was, the technicality Peter had neglected to think of when being allowed to cum so easily, but upset wasn't what he felt, rather he was filled with a joy and excitement soon ready to go again... Maybe this time on video call instead.

Rewriting The CW's Kung Fu, Part 9: Reflections and Moving Forward

And we have reached the end of our Kung Fu journey. If you haven't seen where we began, here's a handy guide to the previous posts:

Before I start with the lessons I learned and my other reflections, I want to thank @flailingbloo for all of her help and support in this endeavor. Without her to talk to and commiserate with, I would probably have gotten stuck in Act II forever and everything I've written would've been riddled with spelling errors and grammatical mistakes. So my eternal gratitude to flailingbloo. And now, we begin:

Lessons.

Going into this writing exercise, I already knew it was going to be hard. Writing stories is time-consuming, it's nerve-wracking, and it takes a lot of research...and patience. Writing, especially for television, is also not a solitary task. I mean, sure, the writing itself needs to be done alone--but everything that comes before, during, and after the writing needs input from so many people.

Although I have a lot (and I mean A LOT) of complaints about how The CW's Kung Fu was handled and written, I do have a lot of respect for the work that the writers put into their scripts. And I do appreciate all that they have done to have a show like this produced.

Doing this rewrite, I learned that it's really important to make the main character likeable. Like, every episode I broke down, I had to ask myself: is Nicky likeable here? Is she someone who viewers would want to root for? Like, for me she is, but only people who read what I wrote can say for sure. My perspective is now a bit skewered because I have bias.

Second, story maps are very helpful. There were times, especially during Part 6 (where I wrote breakdowns for Episodes 6 to 9) where I kept getting road-blocked by where I want the story to go. So I went back to the story map over and over again, to remind myself--where does the story itself need to go? How do I help the characters get to the point where they're ready for what needs to happen? (This is also where flailingbloo helped the most for me. Like, she really reminded me why I was doing this rewrite in the first place. Because I care about Nicky and the show. I wouldn't have funneled so much of my time and effort into this if I didn't.)

Another thing I learned, or rather re-learned, is the art of letting go. I created the character of Stanley to recur throughout the series as a reminder of who Nicky was and who she is becoming. And then I finished writing the first act without even mentioning him. By the second act, I was ready to use him finally--but, after multiple false starts, I realized Stanley was one of the reasons why I was having a hard time pushing Nicky's story forward. Because I kept trying to go back to the past. So I decided in the writing of the second act to shelve Stanley completely, only to find him popping up in the second to last episode in a, at least I hope, more organic way.

The last thing I learned in this exercise was that, whenever a new character needs to come in, I have to look at my existing characters first to see if any one of them can fulfill the role I needed for the story. Like, creating new villains for Nicky was fun, sure--but, at the same time, I realized that there were already existing villains that could recur. Like the Triad, who played villains in two more episodes after the pilot; and Henry's martial arts class at the community center became the source of two existing storylines from the actual show.

Reflections.

Do I think what my rewrite is better than the show? To me, yes. But, again, I am very biased. That said, I am proud of how I utilized the characters that the show created and didn't really give much importance to. Dennis, when he was introduced, felt like a rich character that could provide a very different point-of-view from the Shen siblings--but he was mostly relegated to being eye-candy. And I thought I gave him more meat by making him more involved in Althea's sexual harassment storyline, while also involving him in Nicky's stories.

That said, I also realize that I wasn't able to play up Nicky and Evan's past relationship as I was writing the episodic breakdowns. I was able to give them a lot of opportunities to explore their chemistry together, as I did with Nicky and Henry, but I kind of dropped the ball as a writer on guiding those planted moments into something more significant. Granted, I only wrote breakdowns and not actual scripts. Maybe I could've explored the romance angle more with a little sprinkle of direction and dialogue.

As I went deeper into the rewrite, I do see how easy it is to fall in love with characters as you write them. It's very easy to trap yourself into wanting villains to be more well-rounded. I keep having to remind myself that I don't have to redeem everyone. Just Nicky. Which became harder and harder as I went further and further into the story.

Another thing that became difficult as I went on? Keeping the mythology from just bursting open. That's how Henry, as I wrote him, evolved into becoming the son of a guardian--just so there's a reason for him to be so invested in Nicky's quest, while also having someone who can explain things to our main character. I'm actually really proud of that evolution.

All that said, I also have to recognize that I rewrote the show with the benefit of hindsight and the lack of budget constraints. In the real show, there's a group of writers who each have their own ideas of what the show should be. (This is where a head writer--not a show runner--would come in handy, so they could reel in the story to what needs to be told.) With more writers comes more chances for inconsistencies to happen. (And this is where a script supervisor, or a writing assistant, could come in handy.) And then there's production notes and budget. Not to mention, you know, the whole pandemic that's still happening. I didn't have to think about those things while doing this rewrite.

So, again, I want to give the writers kudos to actually producing scripts. I hope they haven't lost their minds--or their will to write--just because there are people like me who nitpick at everything. That's what people who love things do. We nitpick because we care.

Moving forward.

I do plan to stick with the real show for Season 2. I hope it's planned better. I hope they get researchers (plural!) and a writing assistant to help in the writing room. I hope the writers would sit down with the cast to discuss and develop the characters more. And I really hope they hire a better fight choreographer and fight director for the second season. (Like, rehire the people who choreographed and filmed the flashback scene in... Episode 11? The one with Nicky's maternal grandmother and Pei-Ling's own mother?)

I hope that the Nicky-Henry relationship gets explored realistically, and if a potential new love interest is ordered, they get introduced in a way that isn't antagonistic. Make them more well-rounded characters too, please. Make us want to root for their success. And while I think Nicky doesn't have an iota of chemistry with Evan, I do like Evan himself as a character. So I hope they get him more involved in future storylines--as an outsider looking in, sure, but also as an honorary member of the Shen family.

With regards to the Shen family, I do hope that we get to explore their relationships and dreams more before the show drops the reveal about Mei-Xue's daughter. I want Althea to have a cohesive storyline that doesn't pause for no reason. I want Ryan to explore being Asian AND gay as a first-generation Asian-American. And give the Shen siblings some recurring friends. They don't have to be semi-regulars (unless there's a story that can be explored) but let's not keep the Shens in a bubble. It was weird in the first season. Especially for Althea whose friends only showed up for her bachelorette party and never again. Not even when she was panicking about wedding preparations, which, considering how rich Dennis's parents were? They wouldn't let Althea be in charge of anything. They would hire a Chinese wedding coordinator. And an expensive and hard-to-book one at that. They donated an entire hospital wing, for crying out loud.

I want Jin to have an actual character, and not just be the supportive dad who loves his kids very much (admittedly my own rewrite also made this same mistake). And I want Mei-Li to be consistent as a character. Like, no more surprise twists about being the descendant of a legendary warrior without proper foreshadowing and plot-planting please.

Dennis shouldn't just be eye-candy. The same applies to Kerwin. Sure, I get that shirtless men are a must in a CW series, but please give their characters some meat too. Dennis's nerd-side was never showcased in the show, and Kerwin had that poor little rich boy background that didn't get explored either. Because the show was too busy keeping him and Zhi-Lan tearing each others' clothes off--when they're not tearing other people down.

Also, don't drop the ball on the tease that Bian-Ge is now everywhere. If I understood correctly, Bian-Ge is Kung Fu's version of Qi. If yes, then I hope they treat it respectfully as a force of nature--and not just the source of magic. The flowers from Bian-Ge itself can be magical, sure, I have no problem with a fictional flower being a McGuffin.

Finally, I hope the show also explores other Asian communities and cultures. Like, Kung Fu is great--but imagine if Nicky had to face someone who is versed in Silat Melayu? Or someone who uses Arnis? Someone who practices Kalaripayattu or Lathi Khela? Or Kuntao? Imagine Nicky having to use Wing Chun against someone who uses Karate or Krav-Maga? Asia is a big continent and there are so many different types of martial arts found from the Middle East to Southeast Asia. Kung-Fu is an umbrella term, so it'll be great to see the different styles found under it.

... This went long again. Sorry about that. Funny thing is, when I started this whole rewriting plan? I thought it would take three posts, tops. And look at us now. Nine posts deep, and it seems I still haven't run out of things to say. So I'm cutting myself off before I completely wear out my welcome.
