Everybody talking about how lucky PC players are to get to play 1.6 but I've seen no one mention that aaaallll the mods don't work now and it's the first time some of us have played unmodded in years, I forgot how hard the beginning of a new save is 💀
Also hey if you can and want to, I bet your favorite mod creators would love some donations as they work on updating compatibility! I know that's what I'm doing today!

Okay now EYE must ask you - how are you liking BG3??? How far are you?? Tell me about your Tav!!!! (Please and thank you <3)
hi!! 💖 i only started the game a few days ago and it was an impulse decision i made after having previously told a friend of mine that i definitely wanted to play it but that it'd probably take me a while to get around to it (and, because i thought i wouldn't play anytime soon i hadn't really been trying to avoid spoilers). but, i have the PC version and while it generally runs just fine, my computer is kind of slow and the game is so big that it took hours to download and install. so i kind of went ahead and started to come up with a whole character idea during that time LOL. sorry if my explanations of things get a bit too rambly/disorganized. i'm actually not very far in the game at all yet, i've been spending a ton of time doing stuff in the druids grove and i'm supposed to go find halsin but i haven't even gotten karlach in my party yet! i've recruited all the main companions except for her but i am excited to meet her. gonna put the rest of this under a cut for length.
my only background with DND is that i listened to the first campaign of the adventure zone and i've watched the legends of vox machina show. i also have a friend who's super into her own DND campaign and another friend who's told me a lot about dimension 20, specifically fantasy high--and i've considered trying it out for her but haven't gotten around to it yet! i think she actually told me the same thing about the episode lengths making it easier to get into than critical role, because i had tried critical role and it was just so long that i couldn't stick with it. but, yeah, i've also looked at the forgotten realms wiki a bit but i've never actually played DND. i have played skyrim and final fantasy 14 and some other similar RPGs with customizable blank-slate protagonists, and in those types of games i always have to make OCs to roleplay as--usually i'll think up a basic idea to start with and then flesh the character out as i get into the game. they're never really self-inserts but i do often project onto them a little.
so, in games like these my first character is usually an elf that specializes in elemental/destructive magic. idk why, that's just what i've always liked. in ff14 i started out as a black mage without knowing it was the hardest class to play LMAO. soooo i went into this planning to create a high elf sorcerer, but as i started writing out ideas and thinking about what to do, i ended up creating a half-high elf bard. they're transmasc/nonbinary and in my head they use he/they pronouns, but i picked the nb option in the character creator and that causes npcs to actually use they/them in dialogue which i think is so cool. i love that the character creator is so inclusive in regards to gender.
anyway, i named them elenion, which is something i took from the lord of the rings universe because i'm a huge nerd. in LOTR it's an elvish word that basically means "of the stars". here's a couple screenshots i took when i first started. let's just ignore the fact that this hairstyle clips into elf ears (and also that the face preset is from a mod i downloaded).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i didn't really give him a tragic backstory or even the most interesting story haha--i'm wanting to do something bigger and angstier with another character on a second playthrough when i'm more familiar with the lore and world of the game. and i'll probably also end up changing or expanding on some things about this character later, but for now i just kind of made a normal guy with normal problems. i had this idea that his father, a human who attracted the attention of a beautiful elf woman, was also a bard and was a very successful musician in his youth. so elenion has always shared his father's passion and dreamed of being like him, being able to effortlessly tell incredible tales and inspire crowds of people through song, but no matter how much he studies and practices he never feels good enough. if he seems confident it's usually just because he's gotten really good at faking it. he's also pretty reserved and often avoids having to talk about himself by asking a lot of questions. see, i kind of wanted to specifically find a way to not roleplay the usual sort of loud, flirty, goofy bard, lol. not that i dislike those kinds of characters or anything though!
however, bards are meant to be super charismatic, witty, and persuasive and of course the game strongly encourages that with the dialogue options and skill bonuses you get. so my way of explaining this is to have elenion be a bit like raine from the owl house, in that they may be shy, but they're very firm in their ideals and are no pushover when it comes to protecting themself or their allies. they're clever and have a snarky side to them, and they're genuinely friendly and caring in a way that gives them a sense of quiet charisma. which reminds me that one of the spells i gave them at the start was sleep, and it's made me imagine that when they were a kid they tried calming a crying baby by playing a lullaby on their lute and accidentally ended up casting their first spell.
oh, and, i also wasn't really sure at first where in the world i wanted elenion to come from but i decided on something pretty quickly after getting multiple of those dialogue options suggesting that the protagonist is baldurian! i pictured them growing up in a somewhat small town with their family but moving to baldur's gate as an adult, hoping that if they left the comfort of their home and started to journey out into the world a little they'd eventually find their spark and become the bard they wanted to be. unfortunately they've had little luck so far because even after all this time they can't see that maybe their whole fixation on trying to be just like their father and achieve the exact same kind of success that he had is holding them back. the fact that their father died the year after they moved away hasn't helped either. and now, in the middle of traveling to a historical site that they'd wanted to see in person and use as inspiration for a song, they've been abducted by mindflayers and are struggling with the massive upheaval that this has brought into their relatively mundane life.
so. yeah. my tav for this first playthrough may not be the most unique or exciting character but i like him! i like figuring out what kind of choices he'll make and thinking up new ideas for what he likes and how he sees the world. also, i find it funny how in your reply to my ask you said you thought you'd be into gale but then you fell for astarion--because i thought that i'd be all over the edgy, brooding, snarky vampire man, but it turns out gale is so charming and funny that i'm probably going to romance him first. i'm also pretty intrigued by shadowheart and wyll but i'm so early in the game that i can't even say who i think my overall favorite companion will be because they all seem so interesting!! even karlach despite the fact that i haven't actually met her yet, i've seen a bunch of cool gifsets of her and my brother told me he's been romancing her on his playthrough. i really need to go find her soon.
i'm sure you can tell from everything i wrote here that i am definitely enjoying the game LOL. i can already tell that there's just so many different things to do and see, that i will both need and want to do a lot of different playthroughs and that it's going to be something that sticks with me. nothing wrong with using guides and walkthroughs btw! i do it too because i'm worried about missing too many things and have the world's worst sense of direction even with a minimap. honestly i probably need to look up some guides for certain mechanics that i don't feel like i've really figured out yet. there's a sarcophagus trap in the ruins early in the game that got me SO stuck and got my whole party wiped and then i looked up a video and found out you could turn off the whole trap system by pushing a switch... i felt so stupid askjdfgf.
anyway, i think this got to be way too long of a reply so i will stop here! but if you ever wanna tell me more about your tav or anything definitely feel free to and i hope you're having an awesome day!

Hi! I really love your work with gifs, they're always so cool. How do you record what you do with Bloodborne? I'm very uneducated about gif making but I usually only see that stuff from games that are available on PC? Or at least a photo mode?
Oh wow, thank you so much! 🥲
Yeah, it's a bit complicated recording GIFs for Bloodborne without a PC—less so the recording part, actually, more the camera trickery.
As for recording, downloading, and converting, these are the basic steps I follow:
Find whatever I want to make a GIF of in the game, then set up the shot. I play without the HUD to make sure I get as much screenspace as possible, so it takes some deep familiarity with Bloodborne's gameplay as a whole.
Using the PS4/PS5's feature to save previous gameplay, I retroactively record the last 15-30 seconds after I get the shot I wanted.
I've downloaded the Playstation App on my phone. The PS4/PS5 will automatically upload saved gameplay there, which I can then download directly to my phone's storage. (I'm definitely operating on a low budget, lol.)
Via my phone, I trim the video to get only the exact shot I want to convert into a GIF. I'll also mess around with contrast, saturation, sharpness, etc. to get a clearer image, and ideally to minimize the resultant GIF's file size.
This is where it gets laughably cheap: I upload the video to a site called ezgif.com. It's a little hokey, but true to the name, it's very easy to use and has a good bit of options when it comes to resolution and framerate. Most importantly, it's free. I haven't had any issue with it thus far! (🤞)
Once I have the GIF I want and under 10 MiB, I just download it straight to my phone. I might edit this GIF later, but it's essentially finished.
That's it for the technical side, but as for how to actually go about recording gameplay in lieu of a photo mode? Well, there are a myriad of techniques I'm still experimenting with, but most rely on one simple in-game mechanic:
Gesturing. Specifically, the Sit Down gesture.
Since there's no way to obscure the player character (at least not entirely), the simplest solution is to have them sit down so you can either crop them out of view, or hide them entirely by having them sit by a wall or object that forces the camera close to them.
Tumblr media
You can also sit while using the monocular, which drops the player character out of view so you can get close-ups of the environment, or simply record pristine images without need for a wall.
Tumblr media
There's a lot more I've learned as far as camera movement, but those are the basics of simply removing that pesky hunter from the picture. No modding necessary!
Of course, this means there will always be a degree of diegesis, so I can't easily get high-angle shots or slip out of bounds. Furthermore, enemies will still try to beat my ass, so I have to be careful. It's a bit like wildlife photography in that sense, lol. (But that can be a good thing!)
I hope I was able to answer your question!

AI Narrator x Reader AU
A lovely anon has created something for us to read. I have their permission to post it here. It's a prompt and a rough outline of a story. This is a long post, so I'll put it under a read more. (trust me, it's very much worth the read) And again I want to emphasise that I didn't come up with this, they did, and they deserve the credit.
(The original prompt)
This prompt is based on one of your older ones about the narrator following the player out of the game, just in this case he is far more cautious about how he approaches it and doesn’t scare the crap out of the player by manifesting right away. (Think of it like instead of what happens in that older prompt where he just kinda acts without thinking or considering how it might scare the player, he’s instead looking for consent to enter the player’s life and just doesn’t know how to go about it because he fears if he moves too fast it will scare the player away.)
Let’s say he figured out how to get out onto the player’s computer and has even started to figure out how to manifest a physical form in the real world, but he is keeping this a secret from the player because he knows how something like this would scare any regular human and make them think they’re going crazy. Still, he has noticed how much this players loves the game and how they seem to play it specifically to spend time with him. At first he starts doing little things within the game, like ever so slightly going off script, just enough to get the player to question it without going overboard. In spite of his efforts to be cautious and slow in his approach, as time passes and he has the game shift and change as he tries to find small ways to communicate, the player does start to wonder if they’re losing it, to a point where they wonder if a friend modded their game as a prank to make them think they’re living out a creepypasta. They stop playing for awhile, something that the narrator feared might happen, and yet he still waits patiently.
When the player does try to play the game again after several weeks, just to make sure they weren’t seeing things, the narrator has had the time to fully plan things out and finally makes his move. He feels like he can’t wait any longer or be subtle after he almost lost the player. At first, everything seems normal, but as the player goes through the game, he slowly drops his usual script and reveals to the player that he is indeed sentient and has been modifying the game for them. He says the player’s name for the first time, having held back until now. He has known their name since the very first time he escaped the game and ended up inside the player’s PC. Needless to say the player is startled and runs out of the room, but after they’ve had a little while to calm down, they admit to themselves that this is something they’ve always wanted, they just can’t believe it’s happening. They go back to find that the game is still running exactly where they left it.
The narrator is surprised to see the player return after he was so sure he scared them off for good. They have a frank conversation with each other. After this, knowing how nervous the player is about all of this, the narrator sticks to only talking with them while they’re playing the game, but as things between them get more comfortable, the player allows him to spend time with them while they’re doing other things on their computer. It takes a long time to work up to this point, but one day he tells the player he knows how to manifest into the real world and has done so before while trying to figure out what his limits are. The player wants this but also fears it because the last few weeks of their life have already felt so surreal and impossible. Many months pass before they finally work up the courage to give him permission.
(The Fanfic Outline Modified From The Prompt)
This fic idea is not meant to be just pure wish-fulfillment fantasy for the reader(although it still mostly is lol). A huge focus would be on the narrator’s character development and how he’s trying to find his way in the world as seemingly the only instance of himself out of many copies of the game who somehow ended up becoming sentient. The romance with the reader is a big aspect, of course, but not the entire focus. I love going in to the technical aspects of how something like this would work and all of the issues that would pop up. This fic would be filled with those kind of details. Yeah, it’s technically technobabble magic AI stuff, but everything that happens is given some sort of explanation for how it happens, even if it’s sci-fi magic.
The fic would open with the narrator giving his speech at the end of the figurine ending about how the game has gotten old and he’s ready to move on, even if it means being alone again. He waits for the player to complete their ‘one last run’ of the office, but of course the player continues to play for longer than just one more ending. He continues to act out his role even as his thoughts are entirely focused on wondering what will become of him now since his memories of what it was like 'before this whole story got started’ are very limited. When the player does finally shut the game off, he decides it’s time for him to go. He looks over the game one last time, thinking this will be the last time he ever sees it, and then he 'goes’, although not even he is quite sure what that entails, just that he does it on an almost instinctual level. Since he doesn’t really know what he is and never has, he wonders if he’ll suddenly wake up as some depressed human with writers block and a boring desk job, or if he is some unspeakable horror beyond human comprehension, or maybe he’s just some man in a recording booth. Nothing like that happens though, he just finds himself among even more data than what he’s used to. With much confusion, it takes him a while to figure out where he is and what he is. Seemingly an AI inside the game player’s computer.
During this period of discovery, he causes the player’s PC to act up quite a bit and the reader is left wondering what the heck is going on. The only thing that keeps him from reaching out and trying to communicate with the player right then and there is his inexperience making it impossible. He soon finds himself back in the game when the player boots it up a day or two later. It’s at this point that it truly hits him that there really is a 'Real Person’ behind Stanley’s movements and a world so much bigger out there than his limited game world. He wants to talk to this person more than anything, but even with his limited understanding he can put two and two together that any human would freak out and think they’re going crazy if a video game character started to go off script and talk to them.
Cue the rest of the prompt playing out, minus the manifesting part, and while I wrote the prompt to be romantic from the get-go, I see a long form story like this having a lot more build up toward the romance. I think he would not recognize his feelings for what they are right away, and the player themselves would be in deep denial of the fact that they’ve had a crush on this video game character the entire time while they’re already struggling with feeling like they’ve gone crazy since this disembodied voice started speaking to them personally.
Before the manifestation stuff would occur, I think there would be more of an exploration of what he is capable of as an AI. Maybe he isn’t just limited to the PC and can move through other electronics. Time would be spent building up the relationship between him and the reader. I think there would be some awkwardness they’d both have to work through in the early stages. The reader coming to accept that what’s happening is real and the narrator trying to figure out who he is as a person without the confines of the game’s scripting limiting his actions.
I think he would start to become deeply resentful toward the writers of the game, considering how he was written to be so contradictory that even he doesn’t know who or what he really is, and even before he got out, he was dealing with near constant existential feelings of dread. Even when the game wasn’t putting him through a bad time, the endings where he plays the 'villain’ still ultimately come off like he’s projecting his existential feelings onto Stanley, as if the writers were mocking him the entire time. Of course, he would grow to accept it as the story progresses, because were it not for those existential questions the game imposed upon him, he never would have started 'thinking’ and become fully sentient in the first place.
Unlike the prompt, he would not be able to manifest in the real world right away. It would be something he’d develop over time. I could see him going the same route as The Doctor from Star Trek Voyager, where he develops a small, portable piece of tech that projects a hard light hologram that can then be attached to said hologram and that lets him move wherever he wants. He is not limited to a human form. He can become just about any animal he so chooses, and due to his lack of social skills, he actually finds it easier to exist in the outside world as, say, a cat, because then humans don’t expect any social skills out of him aside from 'be cute and get scritches’ or 'be a hissing asshole if no scritches are dispensed’ lol. Still, there would be many fun scenes to be had of human narrator trying to 'person’ properly. Unfortunately, no amount of late night wikipedia article reading would be enough to save him from coming off like a dork who doesn’t know what he’s doing lol.
While he very much enjoys being able to spend time as a human with the reader, he would likely prefer to remain disembodied, since that is the state he is most use to and he Does Not Enjoy Being Perceived lol. He’d probably have some level of social anxiety around that, since he is so unaccustomed to existing in a way where anyone can see him and interact with him, that on top of his other issues with trying to 'person’ correctly, he would be a bit of a nervous wreck the second anything goes 'off script’ (like if someone asked him a question he wasn’t prepared to answer he’d panic and start blurting out facts about shrimp instead lol). His one regret is that he cannot eat since eating looks like so much fun. Well, he can 'technically’ eat, but he can’t taste it and doesn’t get any satisfaction out of it, plus there’s an undigested mess to clean up when his hologram dissipates. Aside from all of the human narrator antics, since the reader was already living on their own, the sudden introduction of their new dorky, british boyfriend who has moved in with them is not so strange to their friends and family.
I could see the reader encouraging him to have his own separate hobbies and interests from the reader. He does not spend every waking moment thinking about the reader, especially now that he knows he doesn’t have to fear losing them. Aside from picking up a few hobbies, he knows that the reader tends to struggle with staying ahead of things money wise, and since the reader works from home, he starts getting ideas and decides he wants to work a job too. He is quite pleased to show the reader his first paycheck, and when the reader asks him what sort of work he took up, he is happy to announce that he has become an audiobook narrator. The reader immediately freaks out, but he is quick to calm them. He already considered exactly what they’re panicking about, that there is another human out there with the exact same voice as his who also makes a living by talking. Knowing that he needs to keep his existence low-key, he used his natural vocal range to come up with an audiobook reading voice that sounds just different enough that nobody will question it.
(A potential scene for the story where Holo-Narrator manifests for the first time)
This moment has been a long time coming. It has taken months and month of planning, failed designs, and testing. The hole-emitter seems as if it is finally ready for prime time testing. While the narrator was the one responsible for the design, creation, and shipment of the various parts, you’ve had a very active involvement in all of this, considering you’re the one with hands and thus the ability to put the parts together. It has been a bit of a learning experience since you’ve been stuck working with such small microchips and other pieces of tech, but the narrator has guided you every step of the way.
You connect the tiny device, tiny enough to fit inside the palm of your hand, to your PC. The narrator begins the upload process. 'See you on the other side’, he says. He has been very excited to reach this moment, to finally and completely exist in that world beyond his game, and to be able to be with you without that computer screen standing between the two of you.
Once your PC signals that the transfer is complete, you take the device into the kitchen and place it down onto the table with the projector side pointing into the living room. And then you wait. Several long minutes pass and you start to fear that something has gone wrong. You’re just considering re-connecting the device to your PC, in case the narrator has found some sort of problem with the device and cannot communicate that to you in his current state, when a fuzzy, humanoid shape flickers into existence in the middle of your living room.
You hold your breath as you watch the figure take shape. It remains floating slightly above the ground, even as its features come into focus. You are stunned. He looks exactly the way you thought and hoped he might. It’s a mix of considerations that he took from you and various preferences that he decided for himself. He has, of course, seen all of the fan art made of him that gave him various human designs, and he couldn’t help but take them into account while designing a model for himself. After having spent so long in the antagonistic push and pull of the game, he was both surprised and flattered to see how many people truly liked him in spite of how the game constantly has him at odds with the player.
His eyes open, but he doesn’t seem to notice you at first. He has a very thoughtful look of concentration on his face as he looks down at his own hands and his own shoes floating above the ground. He mutters out, 'Still making adjustments’ as the this projection of light jitters around a bit and slowly descents toward the floor. When his feet touch the ground, they noticeably create an indent in the carpet. His arms shoot out in both directions as he struggles to keep his balance. He turns and looks toward your PC, the only thing he is familiar with in this strange place with all of its physics and gravity, and he takes a step toward it only to immediately stumble. He reaches out and grabs the desk, using it to steady himself. Once he has himself situated with one hand still holding on to the desk, the rest of himself still shaking somewhat in its unsteadiness, he finally looks to you with the biggest, dumbest grin on his face. 'It works!’ He cheers. 'It works, it works, it works!”
In his excitement, he takes several shaky steps toward you, only to trip. He would have face planted right then in there had you not rushed forward and caught him. With your arms wrapped around his torso, the first thing you notice is how heavy he is, unnaturally so, especially for what amounts to a projection of light, and then you notice how the feel of his clothing is so real you can’t distinguish it from the real thing. You then notice how warm he is, another thing that feels slightly unnatural, but this one you don’t mind. Amazingly, he’s even programmed the model to give off the impression that it’s breathing and you can feel the rise and fall of his chest.
You mention the heaviness to him and how that’s likely what’s tripping him up. He tells you that he is still making various adjustments to the model and he’ll have it right soon enough. You feel the weight ease up and then he pulls back a little, standing of his own accord. Still with the biggest, dumbest, but yet so very warm smile on his face, he grabs your shoulders and looks at you as if he’s taking you in for the first time. Then, laughing, he grabs hold of you like you just like you did for him a moment before. It’s there that you realize just how scarily and unnaturally strong he is, because he hauls you up in his arms with as much ease as if you were no lighter than a feather. Laughing and once again cheering, 'it works!’, over and over again, he spins you around in his arms before pressing you into a very crushing hug with your cheek squished up against his. He gets very quiet after that and you soon realize that both of you may be enjoying this first moment of intimate contact just a little too much.
A minute or two passes and then he slowly lowers you to the ground. He clears his throat with a rather embarrassed look on his face. Stumbling over his words a little, he says that there is still more testing to be done and it’ll be hours before he has fully adjusted to this new form. “Let’s get to it!’ he exclaims, grabbing your hand. As you quickly find out, he can’t seem to get enough of these small moments of contact. If he isn’t finding an excuse to hold your hand, he’ll have a hand pressed up against your back instead, or he’ll stand so close that your arms are always pressed up against each other. You don’t mind, of course, but you do find his quiet embarrassment and attempts to be covert in his need to make contact with you incredibly charming.
(goddamn! this is really good! props to the author!)

Just curious! Is there something in specific you don't like about Harper or is it just in general?
(My only propaganda on the topic is that I love the idea of not having to think.. Hypnosis and aphrodisiacs and stuff are fun to play with for me especially when subjecting my PCs to things... and the aesthetics of those can be cool to mess with when drawing I think! But also that type of thing is obviously not for everyone lol! (I don't like doctors much so it took me a bit to warm up to them tbh))
It’s mainly the hypnosis thing, I think 😭 It’s not a feature I’ve explored much in DOL & the only times I’ve gained hypnosis traits have been a long lasting hindrance that annoy me due to the lack of control 😭
In theory, I love the idea of giving up control & aphrodisiacs can be so fun in that game (the plants, robin landfill scene ((not fun per se but. YK!!)) But Harper and hypnosis in general always seem to come at the most inopportune times </3 I’m real picky when it comes to my PCs, and the situations that they go thru (which is ironic considering the whole game is noncon and the point of it is to put them in unfortunate situations)
BUT if I’m going to get my PC hypnotized, drugged, kidnapped I want it to be on my terms </3. I can relate this to the Kylar kidnapping event for better explanation!!!
I love Kylar. But I have to be in a certain mindset when it happens </3 If they capture me out of the blue while I’m grinding levels or some shit i get so annoyed bc it feels like a waste of my time and it’s not what I’m playing for at the moment. It’s an annoyance that I have to escape from to continue doing what I want to be doing. Same goes for the soft bad ends (Remy’s farm, the asylum, etc) Sometimes I want to be a little mindless cow :3 Getting milked n praised for being the best!!! And then other times they snatch me and i’m like FUCKING LET ME GO IM TRYING TO DO SMTH ELSE oh my god
I certainly could enjoy it, but so far being institutionalized has just been fucking annoying bc it’s prevented me from what I actually want to do😭
I did make a new save recently, one to just fuck around in :) Primarily with the intention to explore Harper content and other stuff I usually avoid in my main saves. I’d be so down to be Harper’s fav little mindless patient, I lovveeee me a problematic, obsessive,, freakish character yk?
Back when degrees of brutality was still up, i loooveed Harper in that mod— Fuxking crazy thing to say especially when I say i don’t like DOL harper but... I LOVEDDD DOB HARPER LFMOSKFNFN. The way you could donate blood to them and each time you came in, they get a little more intrigued by you? Then eventually they ask you to do another test and fucking cut u open play with ur guts and take u home??? oh my godoh my god . The way they fix u up and make Kylar jealous when they’ve cut off your limbs? LJDDJDJFJFB . “Can I have a turn with them?” BYE!!! 🫣🫣
Maybe i’m just fucked up and like blood n gore more than I like hypnosis LMFAOOO *looks back on my ex fwbs medical malpractice sexts* hm. yeah! tmi. i will refrain from further explanation ☝️

1) What is the character’s go-to drink order? (this one gets into how do they like to be publicly perceived, because there is always some level of theatricality to ordering drinks at a bar/restaurant) Masuyo – I just spent ages trying to like find something Safe that they’d order every time they were somewhere that does Not have Japanese things. I can’t really pin down something specific but it WOULD be something specific. Something strong, probably a whiskey. If there ARE Japanese drinks available they would actually take more time to decide on something rather than just getting something safe and easy. I feel like they’d like melon flavoured drinks
2) What is their grooming routine? (how do they treat themselves in private) Ricky – she spends the most time on picking out a hat (if not at work). She wouldn’t spend like hours getting ready before going out but she would make sure that she looks impressive, or at the very least just noticeable. In private though she’ll just wear pyjamas all day if she can. If there is nobody to see then it’s not important to spend all the effort on looking presentable. The guinea pigs won’t care lol.
3) What was their most expensive purchase/where does their disposable income go? (Gets you thinking about socio-economic class, values, and how they spend their leisure time) Zapper – guaranteed his bike(s) are the only thing he’s ever spent a lot of money at once on, he will never just drop a load of money on anything. Even the bike took saving and planning and negotiating lol. He’s one of those people who will put 10% of every paycheck into savings immediately. Most of his disposable income probably goes on things like gardening supplies or fuckin. Cleaning supplies. Or bike maintenance. And maybe committing to the bit of annoying Grappler.
4) Do they have any scars or tattoos? (good way to get into literal backstory)  Dom – her standard issue tattoo is right in the middle of her chest just because. I don’t think she’d be bothered about getting any others, maybe covering that one up with something post-trashland. But she is always covered in like, small burns and scars and shit because that happens when you like to play with fire and explosives.
5) What was the last time they cried, and under what circumstances? (Good way to get some *emotional* backstory in.)  Slyger – slyger cries most often when he’s stressed. So it was probably recently. He makes everything out to be really high stakes so it could be literally anything lol. His pc keeps crashing because skyrim has too many mods loaded. He can’t find that ONE type of salmon at the store but he KNOWS they have it. He wants to watch the new episode of the telenovela he's obsessed with but REALLY wants to watch it live and probably won’t get home in time.
6) Are they an oldest, middle, youngest or only child? (This one might be a me thing, because I LOVE writing/reading about family dynamics, but knowing what kinds of things were ‘normal’ for them growing up is important.) Jeffrey – he’s an only child of a single parent who put like All her stakes on him. Has to live up to super specific ideals and if not You Are Making Me Look Bad In Front Of The Rest Of The (surprisingly large) Family. Like this is only his mother’s side of the family too, he has cousins and second cousins all over the place. He might have some half siblings from his dad but he’ll probably never know I guess!
7) Describe the shoes they’re wearing. (This is a big catch all, gets into money, taste, practicality, level of wear, level of repair, literally what kind of shoes they require to live their life.) Thaddeus – they’re good quality leather biker boots with a bunch of decorative buckles. He spent a Lot on them and they’ll last ages, unlike the boots he used to get which were like ok but they wore out really easily and he Had to replace them because it’d fuck up his prosthetic foot otherwise. Before he lost his foot he’d just wear shoes until they disintegrated.
8) Describe the place where they sleep. (ie what does their safe space look like. How much (or how little) care / decoration / personal touch goes into it.) Granox – if slyger wasn’t around to decorate and such there wouldn’t be that much around, mostly just one or two cool things he found on the ground. Also it’d just be a mattress. Because he keeps accidentally breaking bedframes by jumping onto them and not realising how fucking dense and strong he is. Funnily enough though he actually keeps the bed made way more than slyger does. So long as it’s comfy enough he can sleep, he doesn’t Need much else.
9) What is their favorite holiday? (How do they relate to their culture/outside world. Also fun is least favorite holiday.)  Grappler – Valentine’s Day because it’s the easiest day of the year to have sex (hooking up with other single people whilst single)/easiest day of the year to commit to the bit of annoying Zapper while also being genuine about it. But also boning Zapper. It’s like a whole day where the “objective” is to show affection to your partner and tbh that is how he thinks he shows affection the best. His least favourite day is Veterans day/memorial day because he just (correctly) associates them with his dad and the US fucking around in southeast asia/his dad treating his mum as a trophy wife. He probably doesn’t like have the ability to articulate WHY he hates them so much, but his default answer is that it’s a scam that vets get 2 holidays for being pieces of shit.
10) What objects do they always carry around with them? (What do they need for their normal, day-to-day routine? What does ‘normal’ even look like for them.)  Vilius – she always has cigs, a lighter and a taser on her. maybe a knife too. Probably operates off cartoon logic since I never draw her with pockets or a bag lmao. But like she almost always has a fuckin glass of wine or something on hand. If she’s not like, inside where there are glasses to pour booze into she probably has one of those tiny little bottles of something. This is fine.jpg

How would your ocs play Minecraft? (Like survival, creative, with friends, streaming, etc)
I love this question so much anon thank you for asking it. If you want me to go REALLY insane ill make a post talking about how the Vyrthaal's play minecraft as well lmao :3
In a perfect world all my ocs have a minecraft world they play in together (it would be a survival world with cheats enabled and everyone given access 2 the console because that sounds like the most opportunity for them all to fuck things up).BUT For more specific answers:
Vyrthaal: Exclusively plays on survival with no cheats on his ownbut them n Serana have a world together with cheats enabled so they can relax some (and mostly they just want keep inventory on so they can fuck around a million miles away from their base then die instead of trying 2 find their way back home. Or kill each other lol). Vyr would definitely stream but they (and Serana if she joins em) would speak exclusively in ancient falmeri (or Nordic in seranas case). Vyr really likes building things! They don't make big impressive builds or anything it's mostly just houses that match whatever biome they settle in with materials they gather (they will sometimes spawn things in for themself in the worlds they play in w/Serana but only if they're feelin' lazy). Very scared of exploring caves n shit but loves it--Vyr is Absolutely the person screaming at every sound even when they're playin' alone and not streaming XD OH also Vyr tries so hard to make sense of Redstone and gives up after like 10 minutes and realizes they wasted 6 hours mining for redstone and cries a little :')
Kili: OK I know Kili is blind. He also probably wouldn't be too interested in playing minecraft anyways. But LOVES hanging out w/Vyr when they play and Vyr loves telling him all about whatever he's doing and also minecraft fun facts. Intrigued by the potion making and enchanting bits so Vyr spent hours gettin stuff to make a shitton of potions and and then enchanting things for him hehehe
Jo'safiir: Also plays survival with no cheats. Loves exploring, Especially big ol' caves and mineshafts. Fucking LOVES the Deep Dark and ancient cities, tries exploring ancient cities for as long as he can while evading the Warden. Routinely winds up a million miles away from his base and dying so he's always losing inventory and it frustrates him to no end XD Jo'safiir hates building so his bases r just square cobblestone hovels with a bunch of disorganized chests placed wherever. He probably doesn't even have a bed he just sets up wherever he spawns in lmao!! Probably has a minecraft server for the College but only the students and Miraak join it, none of the faculty. Also it isn't the educational Minecraft stuff it's just regular minedcraft they all just dick around and hang out. U get extra credit in his classes if u make cool redstone contraptions tho so it's incentive for the more advanced students to hang out lol
Varla: Exclusively plays in creative to explore and build really big huge impressive and intricate builds. Has 30 million mods and uses fancy shaders and graphic enhancements etc etc. Varla's computer SHOULD be a melted ruin but somehow it runs flawlessly and never overheats despite appearing to be a regular (if not fancy and over the top looking) gaming PC he built. If anyone asks him how his game doesn't lag or crash he just says "I don't know but here's what I'm doing" and if u try it ur shit breaks. It's Apocrypha Fuck Shit. Probably tries streaming for a bit but doesn't get Into It like Vyrthaal so sometimes he goes a month without doing anything then streams for almost a week straight. BUT he'd have a really cool Gaming Room set up and nice equipment for when he does stream bc he thinks that it's pretty :}
Vulon: Well now u are all gonna know how I play minec craft. Usually survival, usually with cheats on, usually uses the console to spawn shit in and enchant its equipment. Switches to creative when it gets bored, once spent over 4 hours in creative placing a bunch of Sculk catalysts in a massive cavern, spawning in mobs, then killing them 2 see how much of the place it could cover in sculk. Lord Boethiah has banned it from doing this in any of their shared worlds. With other friends it plays in survival without cheats or the console but its a huge weenie despite being reckless as fuck. It'll sprint heedless of danger into an Ancient city then cry real actual tears of terror when it summons the Warden. Yes I am like this no I will never change yes I have been called Leeroy Jenkins more than once. Vulon would stream too!! It would get distracted chatting with people tho and eat shit or just kind of run around in circles aimlessly. It plays w/Lord Boethiah and Serana all the time (and maybe Ezimar too if they wanted 2 :3c) the 3 of then have so many worlds called "big giant peepee" and "PENIS WIZARD 6900" and none of them ever remember what the fuck they were doing in any of their worlds so they just make more.
Niralek: I think Vyrthaal would get Niralek into minecraft and I think she would be like really good at it and never dies or gets lost but the only thing she wants to do is collect flowers and bees. Also she'd stream but ignores her chat entirely but has SO many people watching and so many Devoted Viewers bc Why Is A Spriggan Gaming???? Is she a real spriggan or is this the work of some really nice 3d modeling?????? She never moves much or speaks so nobody knows and it's a whole big Divide with her fans as to whether she's a real spriggan or not. She thinks it's funny. I think if she reaches a huge subscriber goal or something she joins Vyrthaal in a stream, like physically In The Room With Him, and everyone goes apeshit when they realize she's actually who she says she is lol.
Sethsa: She's listed bc I think Rune would like minecraft and he seems like a charismatic and fun guy so I could see him killing it as a streamer. Sethsa always hangs out with him while he plays/streams and he tells her abt what he's doing but she's like "you should go to the nether and look Endermen in the eyes" and "rUNE LOOK OUT THERES A CREEPER" when he just happens to be at the edge of a cliff or something and he freaks out and dies. He thinks it's funny as hell and so does his chat lmao. Sometimes while he's streaming Sethsa will enter the room carrying Deathcry like a baby and be like "Hello My Boydriend's Chat you will look at my creature now" and Rune stops what he's doing so everyone can look at Deathcry.
Ivrasi: Ivrasi would love farming and fishing she has massive farms and spends hours fishing and all her friends are like "you know there's other things you can do right???" She doesn't care. Her level is like 100 million bc all she does is fish nonstop so she never gets killed or anything. Definitely has a world with Erik where he goes and explores and builds things and she just hangs out in her fishing tower or skittering around to finds seeds for her farms. Her and Erik would have the messiest chests though, neither of them give a shit about organizing so they can never find any of their equipment. They keep making new chests and telling themselves that THIS is for their favorite equipment it will NOT be cluttered with bullshit. And then clutter it with bullshit. Oh also she loves going to villages and trading for shit even if they're bad trades she just likes findin random crap for villagers. ALSO she loves naming animals she Especially loves frogs but she names them with like real people names. Like after historical figures and aedra and daedra and stuff.

Reminiscing about The Sims
😁share how you discovered the sims franchise & the very first sims game you played (e.g. ts2)
Thanks to @mostardentlyinllamaswithyou for the tag!
I started playing the sims way back when ts1 came out in 2000! I was about 8 when I started playing- my dad had actually bought the game for himself, and I guess decided that it was something I’d enjoy so he introduced me to it. I became veeeeeeery obsessed with it and played it all the time. We had this old, very slow PC in the basement that I would play it on for hours. Being in Canada, our basement was usually very cold, and I remember moving a big crappy armchair over to the desk to play and curling up under a blanket and playing for hours. We ended up collecting all the expansion packs for the first game, and so it would take about a full hour for the game to actually open whenever I wanted to play. I don’t actually remember any specific sims I made, but I do definitely remember my dad introducing me to mods and cc very early- specifically there was one called the “magic vase” which basically just had all kinds of cheat codes programed in to make them easier to use.
Later, when I finally got to play ts2 it was only on my dad’s laptop when we would take my sister to dance class. My mom had kicked him out at that point, and I saw him once a week, when he’d buy me a tim horton’s doughnut and I’d play sims 2 on his laptop in the waiting room. Finally, I saved up enough money to buy a copy of ts2 for myself- which is the first game I bought myself. I then realized after buying it that our computer couldn’t run it because it didn’t have a DVD-ROM drive (lol) and so I would play it at my mom’s job- she taught computer classes at the time and so I had access to the computer lab there.
I never played ts3, because again, we didn’t have a computer that would run it, so I stuck with ts2 for years until finally moving to ts4, which was so exciting when I first got it. It felt like going right back to my childhood of playing ts1 for hours on end. Since then I have put literally thousands of hours into ts4, and here I am today, running a simblr at nearly 30 years old!
Thanks for reading folks, this was really nice to think about. I'll tag @sims-half-crazy, @simblrangel, @thesim-tea, and @ee-bah-sims.

Hi there! I'm a first time Mass Effect OT player thanks to the Legendary Edition. In relation to your post about avoiding the romances in Mass Effect 1 (which I bookmarked for reference,) I was wondering if you also made posts for avoiding romances in the other two games as well, and if you had, where I could find them? And if not, do you have any general advice for not triggering the romances? Thanks!
Hey! Thanks for the ask.
I’m sorry, but I haven’t made a guide for the other games. This is mainly because ME1 is the only game where it’s easy to accidentally trigger the actual romance, by which I mean the game now acts as if the two of you are in a dedicated romance and it will automatically proceed to all the major romance points, like the locker and en route to Ilos scenes. ME2 and ME3 still have issues where Shepard can accidentally trip flirtation (or be forced into it, depending on the LI), but it’s much harder to trigger the actual romances because in both games they're scenes where Shepard or the LI will point blank say, “Hey, wanna go out?” or some iteration, lol.
That being said, I still have plenty of tips I can give you to avoid those issues, sure! I can probably guess which LIs might’ve brought this question on since there are a few “main offenders” - if we want to use that term lol - but I’ll try to address what I know about each LI. Please be aware that this won’t be as specific as my ME1 guide because I don’t have any handy transcripts available so I’ll be working purely off memory.
If anyone has anymore specific knowledge on any of these LIs, or thinks I have made a mistake on any of them, please let me know. Thanks.
ME1 LOVE INTERESTS
General note: If you are not romancing Liara, whoever your VS is will always seek you out in the ME2 prologue. This is not romance specific. It is only romance specific with Liara.
Kaidan: I addressed how to avoid his flirtation issues in ME3 in my ME1 post because he is one of the aforementioned “main offenders” people complain about the most frequently, and all of his issues are easily fixed once you know how to do it.
Ashley: I don’t really have any data on her for ME3. I’ve only ever done Ashley-as-VS-with-mShep saves when I also romanced her in ME1. I don’t believe she’s similar to Kaidan in that she will always proposition you if you’re not locked into a romance (because I believe Kaidan does that for a variety of reasons that are purely mechanical/dev signalling in nature, which are irrelevant for Ashley). I would imagine that if you don’t want her to be romantic with you in the hospital, the same rule of thumb of “tell her the romance is over on Mars” would work, but I haven’t personally tested it.
Liara: There is not really any way around a lot of her scenes. A lot of her romanced content is shared with unromanced Shepards. Even in places where it’s not, Shepard is usually more intimate with Liara than they are with other squadmates. (Example of this: I’m pretty sure when you meet on Illium in ME2, every Shepard will hug her, but only romanced Shepards will kiss her.) This means wishing your Shepard didn’t hug her on Illium, or that she didn’t have your Shepard’s armor in LotSB, or certain banters of hers that trigger in ME3, etc., are impossible to avoid because it is not the game having her flirts easy to trip. It is the game just straight up making very little effort to make a distinction between romanced and unromanced Liara.
That being said, if it really bothers you, being renegade toward her when the option is available helps balance it out. For example: at the end of LotSB, Shepard is not forced into comforting Liara or hugging her; they can just let her cry and move on. Things like that.
ME2 LOVE INTERESTS
General note: When speaking to Kelly about any of these characters, it doesn’t hurt to go neutral or renegade. I think being forced into a discussion about how attractive you find these LIs is really only an issue for mShep and it’s fairly easy to avoid for femShep.
None of the romances can be properly triggered until after the LI’s loyalty has been successfully completed. No amount of flirtation negates this. So at the bare minimum, you really only need to be vigilant after completing a character’s loyalty.
All of these characters also do not really have any wonky mechanics going into ME3, because to have a romance with any of the ME2 LIs in ME3, you have trigger it in ME2 first.
Jacob: Jacob is also a frequently complained about “main offender” because it’s easy for femShep to flirt with him. He is also one of the few LIs in ME2 where you can kind of kickstart his romance in ME2 by expressing interest and having a few conversations about that before Horizon, but this does not actually trigger the romance. You are not locked into it if you do trip into this scenario with him, because it’s completing the loyalties that allow for you to actually trigger a character’s romance. You cannot romance a character properly if you either don’t do their loyalty, or you do it but you failed to secure their loyalty during it.
If you tripped into this scenario with Jacob, you can just simply not continue it going forth, or you can do an organic “breakup” after his loyalty where you continually try to press him to unpack his feelings about what just happened with his father. He will end things with a Shepard who does this to him.
As for avoiding the flirtations at all: it is possible and I do it all the time, but I have no transcripts available so I can’t exactly show which dialogue options to pick. I want to say neutral and renegade dialogue options are your friend here, though some of those can still be flirtatious, if I recall correctly.
When he talks about leaving the Alliance, don’t pick the options that sound like it could be about his body/fitness. When he mentions that Cerberus rebuilt Shepard, don’t have her pick the options that seem like she’s asking if he likes what he sees, etc. Unfortunately, I remember the actual lines better than I remember what the dialogue wheel option was. I recommend saving before talking to him and going through all the dialogue options and reloading until you find the ones where femShep doesn’t sound flirty. (That’s how I found them.)
Or, if you play on PC: you could simply just wait for someone to re-release the mod that gets rid of the flirtatiousness between Jacob and femShep. There was one like that for original ME2, though I never used it so I’m not sure how it actually worked.
Garrus: It is really hard to both accidentally flirt with Garrus and to accidentally trip into his romance. He has little content before his loyalty, and after his loyalty, you have to take a very specific dialogue option to trigger Shepard’s proposition. Even after that, the game still gives you a way to back out if that was, in fact, not what you expected to happen.
Thane: Considering that Thane isn’t even available to recruit until after Horizon, his mechanics are also fairly “safe” compared to, say, Jacob’s. That being said, there is the infamous “I want you, Thane” option on the dialogue wheel, but that one is fairly...obvious. I recall most of Thane’s dialogue options seeming fairly obvious and thus easy to avoid if you’re not wanting to flirt with him. If you’re having trouble, neutral or renegade is probably the way to go. He also always calls femShep “siha” once loyal (I believe that conversation happens after his loyalty, anyway); there is no way around that outside simply not talking to him. Him calling femShep “siha” is not indicative of a romance being triggered.
Jack: Jack, like Jacob, is one of the characters who you can start a flirtation with before Horizon. Again, this doesn’t actually trigger the proper romance. To my knowledge, Jack will also always proposition mShepards. This also does not trigger her romance - in fact, if you accept, it locks you out of her actual romance because she no longer trusts you. Unfortunately, if you want to avoid the proposition entirely - I don’t know or remember if there’s a way to do that.
Tali: I recall Tali’s main issues being the conversation with Kelly after recruiting her (but this is hazy, sorry) where I think Kelly always implies Tali has a crush on you. If this is the case, I have no idea how to avoid it. The other main issue is after you successfully complete Tali’s loyalty and you get to the conversation where she talks about linking suits. It is very easy for mShep to accidentally trip into a romantic conversation with Tali here, and thus be forced into turning her down afterwards. I am pretty certain it’s possible to avoid this, and it likely involves not taking the paragon option. If it isn't possible to avoid though, then all you really have available is to turn her down when she brings it up.
Miranda: I don’t actually recall anything egregious with her mechanics. I am fairly certain that she is not like Jack and Jacob where you can soft start her romance before Horizon, because I remember noticing that when I did her romance recently. After Horizon, I want to say that her romance dialogue options are fairly obvious, but I could be wrong. Either way, the same as all the other LIs would apply: you’d have to complete her loyalty to begin with to even get access to those conversations, so you really only need to be vigilant after her loyalty has been completed.
Samara and Kelly: They are not “real” LIs, which means you don’t get a romance achievement for them and they have next to no content. Kelly’s romantic dialogue options are similar to Thane in how exaggerated they tend to be, and thus are easy to avoid. Samara is only receptive toward paragon Shepards to begin with, but also puts a hard stop to any flirtation attempts regardless, so tripping her “romance” is not really an issue.
ME3 LOVE INTERESTS
General note: Just lock into your preferred LI’s romance first. I am serious. That will solve nearly every issue. Locking into your LI’s romance is not Shepard still expressing interest when they first meet again unless your LI is Tali, whose lock-in is her cabin date right after she comes aboard for the first time. Otherwise, the lock-in moment for most of the LIs are their Citadel dates that happen after the Coup.
James: Technically, he’s not a love interest. I’m including him because he always flirts with femShep. There is no way around this, sorry. The best you can do is to not allow him to call femShep “Lola”, which happens after the sparring match you two can have in the cargo bay. He still flirts with femShep outside that however, and there are a few times where femShep unavoidably flirts back. If you don’t like this, you just kind of have to plug your ears and pretend it’s not happening. Or just not speak to him at all, lol.
Hopefully with MELE’s new modding capabilities, someone will release a mod that fixes this since James’ conversations with mShep are more normal.
Allers: She is similar to Kelly and Samara in that she is not a “real” LI. I believe you can’t even trip her “romance” until after you finish Rannoch anyway, since it’s tied to the interview you do with her. There can be an awkward moment after Tuchanka or the Coup (I don’t recall which, or if it’s both) where she might sound flirtatious and you’re forced into flirting back or turning her down, but nothing comes from this. If it does happen after the Coup’s interview, you could try pushing it off until you lock into your preferred romance, but it’d have to be before you complete Rannoch since I imagine the Coup one would expire and be replaced with Rannoch’s.
Traynor: Traynor’s romance is actually easy to miss if you play renegade. I know this because I finished her romance a few months before MELE came out and I had to redo twenty hours of gameplay before that because I got locked out of it for being too much of an asshole to her. (Absolutely hilarious in hindsight, incredibly annoying in the moment.) After some digging, I found some old forums detailing that you apparently cannot be renegade toward her about her toothbrush in your first conversation and when she tells you about Grissom academy or else she evidently decides you are too mean and/or not interested in her. (Whether or not this is true, I have no idea. I didn’t bother risking it and went straight paragon with her in all of our conversations until I was able to lock it in.)
What this means is that if you want to avoid her shower scene entirely, just be renegade toward her until you get her cabin date, because you straight up do not even get the option to offer your shower to her if you were renegade enough.
If you're roleplaying and your Shepard wouldn’t take those renegade dialogue options, follow the advice in the general note: lock into your preferred romance before doing Traynor’s cabin date. Like Kaidan, this does mean that if you romanced Jacob or Thane and don’t wish to move on to anyone else, you’re a bit out of luck if you want to avoid the option triggering entirely.
That being said, even if you are doing a paragon Jacob, Thane, or no romance run, and thus still get the shower option, just...simply don’t let her in your shower. Problem solved.
Cortez: Cortez’ romance does not have any egregious romance mechanics that I’m aware of. To my knowledge, he never flirts with Shepard first before his romance is locked in. In fact, if you do flirt with him but you had a pre-existing romance from ME1 or ME2 (or I think if you are already locked into your romance with Kaidan as mShep) he will make a mention of that romance when you do try to flirt with him. This is all to say: to my knowledge, there is really nothing to avoid with Cortez. You have to go out of your way to flirt with him and lock in the romance. That being said, if there is something I’m missing, the same “lock into your preferred LI’s romance” rule of thumb should apply.
Hopefully some of this helped! If you have any other general questions about this issue or about a specific LI, let me know. Please note that I am also basing all of this off my knowledge of the original games, but I’m assuming nothing has changed in MELE.

What Happened to Twitch?
Twitch used to be a pretty good website. I had really high hopes that it would be a competitor to Youtube. It is a live stream platform that was ahead of Youtube as Youtube took a while to do live stuff. It has videos as well such as of past streams or people streaming videos they made for viewing later, viewer interaction features, solid streamers, no audible magic, good mods/staff, etc... Now the issues with the site are virtually endless. Let me give you a rundown of various things I have experienced and I have heard others experiencing which you may or may not have experienced because it’s as if that issues are not even account-specific.
Lately when logging in, every time, they prompt be to get a 6-digit code from my Email to continue to login because they “don’t recognize” my device. Yeah, you know how on every other website that has verification things like this, it’ll keep track of what devices you logged in from so you don’t have to keep verifying? No matter what, it doesn’t do that for me and a bunch of others. It seems to work fine for others though. So it’s user-specific. I have even tried logging in from one PC, then logging into another off the same internet while STILL being logged in to that PC and it’ll ask me to verify on both. It should at least be able to tell it’s from the same IP, but nope.
Try reporting the glitches and problems to Twitch as well. You’ll get nowhere. A recent experience I had with them was I tried to resolve that 6-digit verification thing for months. I explain it, get what looks like a generic copy/paste or automated response that does not address the issue, I respond back saying that wasn’t it and explain it again, then get NO response back, but do get a response back with a survey on how they did. Needless to say I was not satisfied and explained it in a civil way. No response back from them for that either. They used to handle stuff like that so well way back. Like, I remember when The Speed Gamers migrated from Ustream back to Twitch that they were having layout trouble during one of their charity streams in that what they wanted to incorporate on their page couldn’t be done, so they messaged Twitch staff about it and they tweaked the page so they could. Stuff like that was amazing! I don’t see things like that happen anymore.
When finally being able to log in, I’ve noticed that oftentimes my status is set to “offline” when I always have it set to “online”. Alternately I have seen friend’s statuses going to idle despite them being active on the site. So that status part of the site is entirely borked.  Moving on to other topics...
I think users knew when they implemented Audible Magic (basically Content ID for Twitch, automatically hitting videos) and played it off as a benefit to streamers so they can remove copyrighted music in their videos that it was going to go downhill. Remember that a lot of people went from Youtube to Twitch (Or Justin.tv) BECAUSE they were tired of Youtube’s horrible automated systems. Add automation in the mix and, well... it indeed went downhill.
Twitch is clearly inconsistent in their moderation now too. There was this one girl who frustratedly threw her cat behind her on stream and nothing came of it. But on the other hand, there was a girl who got banned for apparent dog yelps off camera with her being there, stating the ban was for animal abuse. Story: https://www.dexerto.com/entertainment/twitch-streamer-furious-over-animal-abuse-ban-amid-alinity-controversy-1296710 Many’ more examples like that out there on various topics.
Also, ever since they implemented automatic moderation of words in chat, there has been a ridiculous amount of people punished for innocent things (you can briefly read what they post before it gets removed from view or use a browser extension to reveal them) because it can’t tell context. At least streamers can turn that off, but it was set to on by default which caused a lot of issues. Still’ does when people have it on as not everyone turned it off.
Streams have been getting very bad audio glitches for me in that they will get more and more distorted until I pause then play the stream. On top of that, the chat will stop scrolling with new messages at times, forcing me to scroll it down manually. With both of these, it’s like having to maintain two fronts while trying to interact. Not fun.
Speaking of trying to interact, ever since they implemented that stream delay of like 20 seconds to cheap on the servers, it has not been the same anyway. They eventually implemented a “low latency” thing which yields faster delivery at the cost of possibly buffering a lot, but it’s still longer than the 2-3 seconds it used to be. Just imagine trying to converse with someone face to face and they respond 20 seconds later first. It’s the most awkward thing to keep track of. (Smashcast doesn’t have that. Just’ saying...) It can be even worse if the stream player itself gets an error and you have to refresh, which does happen fairly often. Making you possibly miss the point the streamer talked to you. Trying to sort it out then just stalls the whole thing because they have to readdress you if you mention it to them which backlogs them responding to others and etc...
For the videos on demand (VOD) themselves, playback is often glitchy as errors happen midway through, they don’t play at all and seeking to a certain part is often very difficult as it doesn’t go where you click. Heck, I heard from others that sometimes you can’t even PAUSE a VOD as that functionality is glitched out. But pausing works fine for me. Why is that? Who knows.
Live streams aren’t much better as they have their own issues. I often get errors and have to refresh the page to get it to run again. Even when not getting an error, I noticed that I’m served a slightly-slower stream than others seem to get. So I have to pause then unpause the video every so often to get it to jump back ahead to the closest point I can see. Part of me wonders if the error and slightly slower stream are related, but don’t hold me to that. I have a good internet connection too.
Twitch streams also get deleted nowadays unless set up to into highlights. Given that many weren’t aware this happened before it was too late (you only had 14 days to save them if not a turbo/prime member and 60 if you are), a TON of content got lost. People argued that it’s to save money because of the hosting costs of video data being large. So rather than streams just being automatically turned into highlights as a precautionary measure, they just let them get wiped because they didn’t care. I’m not entirely sure about that “because” you can save streams to highlights as mentioned. So it’s just going to fill back up again since people now know of it, if not already has filled back up.
Twitch also got rid of PMs so past conversations you might have wanted to look back on or had to catch up on as a backlog were lost. You can do the same sort of thing in whispers if a person allows it in their settings, but what’s the point of getting rid of PMs?... Text is text regardless of where it’s located. This was one of those sorts of changes that I can’t figure out. I “thought” maybe they wanted to unify a private place to talk since both existed at once time, but why not just move the conversation to the other or not have both at the same time to begin with?
Another thing they get rid of for no reason is email notifications to streams you follow. They “say” if you don’t watch a stream for a while they’ll turn off email alerts to it. Which makes sense to not fill up someone’s inbox. Imagine for instance they stream 30 days straight and you don’t go to any of them as sort of a break. That’s 30 emails that are useless to you. Except it doesn’t work. Even streams I watched regular like Bob Ross got email alerts disabled. You can tell that they keep track of when you click an Email link to someone’s stream too because in the URL you’ll notice it recognizes you came from the Email. So there’s no excuse. Oh and there’s no way to toggle that automated disabling of alerts to off as far as I’m aware. So you just have to deal with it. At least they do seem to be consistent about telling you when it does turn off email alerts, but get ready to enter that 6-digit login code just to fix the alerts regardless if the person is streaming or not.
After the Amazon buyout, eventually they started pushing Twitch Prime as well, basically another paid subscription thing like Turbo, only with Amazon benefits added on it. But all the things they push as “prime loot” are complete garbage. Stuff like Raid: Shadow Legends which is hardly a “game”. What made them even think a community of gamers would be into that? Well, maybe they did realize that, but did it anyway as a business partnership for the moolah.
I get the feeling that business partnerships are what’s going on with all the Valorant stuff popping up as well. Only with streamers being able to take advantage of it. For example: People found out to try the game, they need to watch any Valorant stream with drops enabled for a for 2 hours. That lead to people going to streams just for that invite. Many people. Artificial-inflation amounts of people that encourage people to stream it for said numbers and Twitch recommending channels playing it like mad to people, lol! So yeah, I’d be very surprised if it wasn’t a business partnership.
You can find many more examples out there of people may or may not having a bug for things, but this should be enough to explain that Twitch is a complete mess. Every single aspect of it. It’s in a state like Youtube where everything is broke and they are ignoring users who message them telling about bugs (which they claim they encourage people to do and they listen to) or maybe are just unwilling to fix any of them even if they know about them. Who knows because they don’t communicate like they used to.
Your thoughts?
Thanks for reading and have a good one!

Anon: Do you know if sims users who use a MacBook experience lagging issues? Is it a good computer for a lag free sims 4 experience?
Hey there! I’m a PC user so I can’t really speak on behalf of Mac players, but from what I've heard, if you’re planning on mostly playing games it may be better to go with a PC over a Mac.
Anon: Hey! I’m saving for a gaming PC. And I wanted to know what pc you have? Or where to get good PCs. It doesn’t have to specifically be a gaming one, just a good enough one to play The Sims 4 on higher settings. My pc isn’t bad but it can’t handle sims on higher settings ( which I like )! I probably sound so selfish because I want a gaming PC to have sims have good settings without lag but I do lol my game lags on lower settings too, So I guess I ain’t too selfish :P I hope you help, thank you ❤️❤️
Hey, there’s nothing wrong with wanting a nice piece of equipment! Especially one that’s as useful as a computer. They’re a necessity, really-- it doesn’t make you selfish in the slightest. As for my computer, this is what I use. It’s a few years old now but it’s been fantastic & never has a problem running almost every game I’ve played on it on Ultra (i.e. Skyrim, Subnautica, Dragon Age: Inquisition, etc.)! MSI makes some pretty solid machines 👍
Anon: Hey! I was wondering if you could make a longer version of your new dress? It’s so beautiful but I only put long dresses on my sims since I’m modest IRL and I like my sims to be too. It’s not a request or anything. I hope I don’t come across as rude, I do love the dress. 😍😍
Anon: hi nolan!! super sorry to bother you but i was just curious if you had any interest in making a version of reticulates' daydreamin eyes for mermaids? or if you've seen anyone make some around!! thank you
Anon: hi honey, would you try to make a mermaids reticulates default eyes?
Hey there~ To answer both questions, I don’t actually take requests. As for the mermaids eyes, because they aren’t my CC to edit or post, I probably won’t. When I made the edits for pets, I got permission to do so. But because reticulates has been gone for quite some time, it’d be a bit rude of me if I did without asking first. I hope you’ll understand-- Sorry!
Anon: hi there! do you have a psd for the pinafore your thoughts dress? tysm!
I don’t have it uploaded at the moment, but i’ll add it to the folder sometime this weekend! In the meantime, feel free to check out all of the other ones I currently have >>> PSD Folder.
Anon: hi hi! i was wondering how you got the short version of the yuletide hair to shorten so smoothly? like there are no jagged parts? thank u in advance
There, unfortunately, isn’t much I can say besides I really took my time & was super careful about making things stay proportionate/smooth throughout the entirety of editing.
Anon: What are the worst expansion packs in your opinion?
I’ve actually enjoyed all of them so far! But if I really had to choose, probably Get To Work. It’s mainly due to the fact that I can’t be bothered to actually follow my Sims to their jobs 😂 (I’m just too lazy for all of that).
Anon: Hi! How do you clean the background of your Cas for your full body pictures?
Hello! My editing process is on my FAQ & Resources page 😊
Anon: I'm fairly new to sims, i was wondering why some CC items require certain expansions? I'm not complaining, just curious
Most CC creators do this if the CC they made is only a minor edit or recolor of an item from a pack, that way, it won’t just be a direct port-- therefore making a paid item free (which is a no-no).
Anon: hey, do you take sim reqs? even if not a soft-faced ya female named Noelle would be adorable in your game i think. just a suggestion, no need to follow up!
I don’t take requests, but I have a Sim that sort of fits that description!
Anon: Do you know of any good Sims 4 teen mods that’ll allow them to quit high school without affecting the responsibility manner gauge?
I wanna say MCCC does this, but I don’t use any mods so I honestly have no idea 😅 If anyone knows, let me know in the replies!
Anon: Is there anyway for sims to buy multiple housing properties in Sulani like the sims in the Sims 3? I know you can make property “generic”, but I want it to be a house that my sims can own while having other houses if that makes sense lol
No, unfortunately. That’d be really cool though! I think the only/closest way a Sim can do this is if they own a retail store?
Anon: i wish i could donate to your patreon but i'm a broke student sadly, i really do appreciate you not using paywalls for your cc as i have had some problems with it before. thank you and have a nice day :)
Hey there! That’s really sweet of you to say, but don’t feel bad! I’m honestly just glad to be making CC in general 😊💕 +I hope you’ll have a nice day as well!
Anon: Do you know what ever happened to femmeonamission? She just disappeared one day I feel like. Is she taking a hiatus?
She’s out living her best life 😭💖 (probably)
Anon: i absolutely love you and your cc! i think my first ever cc i downloaded was from you
Thank you so much for the sweet message~ 💖
Anon: Hi I love your stuff btw! But I was wondering if you could tell me what your top 3 game packs and stuff packs are. I’m just trying to see which ones I should buy.
Hmm, that’s a tough one (seeing as I don’t get a whole lot of free time to actually play my game 😅), but here goes: +I’m throwing in my favorites EPs because why not!
Top 3 Expansions Packs
Seasons
Island Living
Get Together
Top 3 Game Packs:
Vampires

DA Questions
Tagged by @space-vashoth
Tagging: @dinah-myles @ironbullsmissingeye @aylenlavellan @dryadalismagicae @dalathin @gcldendust @blade-and-shield
01) Favourite game of the series?
Inquisition. It holds a very special place in my heart no thanks to Kaaras, and him being my first experience with the Dragon Age series <3 It’s just got all the right elements for me.
02) How did you discover Dragon Age?
Actually, and old friend from when I was in my previous fandom said I’d like it because I loved Mass Effect. No regrets ever since, and I knew I needed this game as soon as I saw that Bull romance scene >.>
03) How many times you’ve played the games?
I’ve finished Origins once, DA2 I’ve done twice, and DA:I I’ve done... a lot >.> I keep making new characters, but I always go back to Kaaras because he’s my baby and I love him.
04) Favourite race to play as?
Qunari! <3 They are unique and BIG. Anything with horns is an instant heck yes for me!
05) Favorited class?
Mage.
06) Do you play through the games differently or do you make the same decisions each time?
That entirely depends on the character I’m playing. I have a fair few other characters in DA:I who are each their own, and I replayed DA 2 because I wanted to get a better feel of my Hawke, who turned out SO different to my first playthrough. If I replay Origins, I will most likely play as a new character as well, who will have their own choices. The only way I’m making the same choices would entirely depend on what kind of character I’m playing.
07) Go-to adventuring group?
I will ALWAYS take my LI in the party, unless it’s Fenris and a mission he will disapprove on, hahaha. DA:O was Zevran, Wynne and a mix on the third character. DA2 is generally Fenris, Varric (always), and Sebastian or Aveline. I always bring the companion quest member to their quest. DA:I depends on the character I am playing because they all have their favourites. Kaaras takes Bull always, Dorian, Varric and Cass. Basically he never takes Blackwall, Sera and rarely Solas.
08) Which of your characters did you put the most thought into?
I’ll be honest, none, LOL. Overall, I’d say Kaaras, because he’s my favourite and my biggest, but when I MADE him... I put literally 0 thought into him at all. He just grew and grew on me, and here we are.
09) Favourite romance?
Iron Bull, Josephine, Cassandra, Fenris, Zevran, Alistair, Dorian. I’ve yet to SEE some of them, like Leliana and Morrigan, which I would like to eventually. Oh... and Harding IF you could actually romance her.
10) Have you read any of the comics/books?
I’ve only read some of Asunder, but I have some of the comics as well, I just need to actually read them.
11) If you read them, which was your favourite book?
I’ve only read half of Asunder, and it kind of bored me...
12) Favourite DLCs?
Tresspasser, it’s just got this... weird atmosphere to it that really pulls me in, but also makes me sad... I dunno. I also love Jaws of Hakkon.
13) Things that annoy you.
Look, I love Dragon Age, and the slight annoyances aren’t going to ruin the experience for me. I love the games, I love everything. I’m not going to say shit about it, lol. If you’ve got something specific to ask, then ask me.
14) Orlais or Ferelden?
Ferelden.
15) Templars or mages?
Mages.
16) If you have multiple characters, are they in different/parallel universes or in the same one?
They are all in the same story line. My Hero, my Hawke, and Kaaras are all in the same canon universe. All of the other muses I’ve made are all COMPANION muses, who also belong in the same universe. Not gunna lie, the thought of making a different Hawke, different Hero or different Inquisitor honestly feels like a betrayal to my own characters, so I will never make a different one. They will all belong in the one story line and that’s that. It’s like my big whole canon story to me.
17) What did you name your pets? (mabari, summoned animals, mounts, etc)
I think I named him Woof in Origins and Dog in DA 2. Can’t remember tho, lol.
18) Have you installed any mods?
I started off playing DA:I and DA 2 on Xbox, so at the start, nothing was modded. When I got DA:I on PC, I installed mods, but Kaaras is still very vanilla, most of the mods I use are merely armour replaces, environmental mods and ones to make blood stay off clothes, etc. Maybe a hair mod here, but that’s about it when it comes to their looks.
19) Did your Warden want to become a Grey Warden?
At the start, not really. She just wanted to survive, lol. So... she did what she had to.
20) Hawke’s personality?
My Hawke is very stern. He is a mix of blue and red mostly.
21) Did you make matching armour for your companions in Inquisition?
No, lol. XD
22) If your character(s) could go back in time to change one thing, what would they change?
My Hero and Kaaras know that they can’t change the past, even if they wish to. They’ve accepted that life has to move forward. My Hawke? He suffered the most, and he has many regrets, most of those are for the loss of his mother, what happened in Kirkwall he blames himself for, and Anders, and he wishes he could turn it all back.
23) Do you have any headcanons about your character(s) that go against canon?
No, I’m pretty strict on when it comes to canon. The only thing is the qunari background in DA:I isn’t Kaaras’ background. I’ve tweaked that so it gits his true background better.
24) Who did you leave in the Fade?
Stroud.
25) Favourite mount?
Harts, they’re so damn majestic!

Quick Game Reviews: What I played 2018
Tumblr media
I’m gonna go ahead and do this for the whole year, which includes games that WEREN’T released this year, but I played this year. I also made this throughout the year, so most the opinions were right after I played it and if it’s been updated further might not include that in my blurb.
I needed to type and felt like I needed to make something. This might motivate me I suppose. Let’s get started
Tumblr media
DOOM 2016 [PC]
I grew up on Pokemon, Mario, and Doom II. I couldn’t play it until I got my new computer this year so yeah way too late. This is a pretty solid game, though thanks to all of the bonuses and honestly nearly intrusive leveling up system kinda stepped in the way of the raw combat. It’s obviously my choice, but I felt encouraged to spend a lot of time exploring areas I’d already cleared rather than run and gun.
That being said, I still loved it. The secrets were, for the most part, really clever and fun anyway and the combat is delicious. I would strongly recommend this
Tumblr media
A Hat in Time + Seal the Deal DLC [PC]
I love this game. A lot. It’s really cute and looks really good, it’s got a ton of charm, and it’s honestly a very good time overall. I 100% the base game last year when it first came out, and I would highly recommend to fans of 3D platformers, and still worth a try if you’re on the fence on them. The mod support is also great that it’s in there and I want to try that a lot. however the DLC...
So the new level is pretty short and while it’s fun, it’s not as good as the other levels. The characters (I think) are really cute and the charm is all there and that great, but it has all of 3 levels, and 2 of them are exploring the exact same places (the boat) and the 3rd is a nice twist on that, but other than that it’s pretty barren. The time rifts were fun as well, but alone... eh. The Death Wish portion, that is the super hard challenge mode...
... is not good. Obviously my opinion, and I might be missing the point, but after having been frustrated over and over and over again, the game itself is just not tight or clean enough to warrant it. My backing for this is that a large portion of the challenges rely on originally unintended level geometry or quirky mechanics in order to complete, and having challenges that require you to be in the know about these honestly inconsistent “quirks” is just not good. Specific examples: the ice hat giving you a small boost to avoid jumping in challenges is alright but fluctuates in how much height it gives you a lot, the challenges around the train chase still have the wonky hitboxes that do not line up with what’s still on screen, and the parade challenge has an invisible hitbox on the main platform that can kill runs. In short If you have found you love the main game and are a bit of a masochist, go for the DLC.
Tumblr media
Pokémon Ultra Sun [3DS]
This is more or less just a revisit of the same generation with some very minor changes. The story changes take the focus away from Lillie and Lusamine (and as a result how interesting the former and evil the latter are) and places it on Necrozma and Ultra Beasts. I really like what they did with Necrozma, but overall it feels like a lot less. And while the Rainbow Rocket post game was nice and fun nostalgia, it’s still missing a solid post game like B2W2 or Gen II had.
Ultra Wormholes are cool though, and all the good mechanics from SM are still there, so honestly I would recommend this if you haven’t played gen 7 and like Pokémon.
Tumblr media
Hey! Pikmin [3DS]
It’s awful. I can’t think of a reason to pick this up.
I can rant about this for years, but it basically got the Zip Lash/ Sticker Star treatment: it took a franchise known for something and made it something else that was bad. It’s an incredibly slow puzzle “platformer” where you have to collect a bunch of treasure using pikmin you find in the level, it’s laggy even on a n3DS, and even though the point of the game is to collect enough treasure to leave, if you do that they’re all like “by the way, you still have to beat the final boss” so the entire auto-collecting side game you put your pikmin into is entirely pointless. This is honestly the worst 3DS game I played this year.
Tumblr media
Hollow Knight [PC]
So I’m normally not that great with the games-that-are-pretty-dang-hard, and this was no exception. That said however, I did get pretty far (probably) before I got to a boss fight I just couldn’t beat (It was an onslaught of rolling knights in the raining city or something, it’s been a while). And after that I tried finding more power-ups and stuff to help, but I had to set it down after getting bottlenecked there. That being said, I can very easily see why people like this hardcore metroid-vania platformer, and would still recommend it if you’re into the Dark Souls style of high difficulty and mechanical mastery in other genres.
Tumblr media
Axiom Verge [PC]
This is another Metroid-style game. I really liked this one as well, especially how its power-ups weren’t the traditional “You jump higher now” traversal power-ups. It really has a nice atmosphere and theme that still feels alien and metroidy while also feeling like the glitchy world by giving you weapons and movement abilities that let you glitch and change the environment around you. I really liked it! My only real complaint is the bosses get really challenging through a result of eventually figuring out what weapon and strategy is was designed for, and there are some areas that I was completely lost trying to find where I was going next, but all in all it’s pretty solid.
Tumblr media
Octodad: Dadliest Catch [PC]
I normally really hate games where the focus is “lol, you can barely control your character! hahaha.” I actually really liked this one; it isn’t hard to get the hang of it and it’s really funny and still enjoyable at the same time. I rarely actually felt annoyed at the controls. I had a ton of fun with it, even if it was a little short.
Tumblr media
Kirby Star Allies [Switch]
My complaints are very much the same as everyone else’s here; it’s a pretty okay Kirby game, but it lacks real challenge and is pretty quick. the real “star” of the show is playing the game with different characters, but since you can’t do that until after you play through as Kirby, by that point it’s either grown on you or hasn’t. The best part is the unique levels they made for the DLC characters, Gooey, Marx, Dreamland buddies, etc. Those are a ton of fun. If you like Kirby games, this one’s no Super Star but you’ll likely love all the attention to the free DLC characters and it’s not bad by any stretch.
Tumblr media
HOB [PC]
It’s a 3D, top-down Zelda style game with an emphasis on some platforming elements. The world is wonderful, definitely the Aesthetic with clockwork worlds that Spiral Knights wishes it could’ve had. I actually had a ton of fun with it. The secrets and exploration were great, combat is ehhhhhh but that’s not really the focus. It’s a good time, If you like Zelda but with some puzzle platforming and great atmosphere, check this one out!
Tumblr media
Poi [PC]
This is a Unity 3D platformer that attempted to brush off the Unity, and does an alright job with being mechanically tighter than most, but still has the Unity feel. Controls are a bit loose, could’ve used a lot of polish, but honestly this scratched the 3D platformer collect-a-thon itch for a bit and I actually 100% it. You have to love 3D platformers like Sunshine or Banjo Tooie to be able to like this, but if you do it’s a pretty fun romp.
Tumblr media
Princess Remedy In a Heap of Trouble [PC]
This is a fun, short bullet-hellish game with an old-school Atari aesthetic. It’s pretty fun, but honestly I like the mechanics in the free game better (though this has more content). It’s fun, it’s funny, it’s quirky (and kinda short), try out the free game and if you like that one give this a try! The main difference is the “date” mechanic, where people you heal can join you to give you a different special power from healing, to various kinda of bombs, time freezing, homing bullets, etc. Once you find one though, it’s hard to convince yourself to try something else.
Tumblr media
Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion [Switch]
This is Splatoon 2′s expanded hard/challenge mode. I’m a big fan; a few of the challenges are eh, but overall the aesthetic and branching map structure are super fun. The expanding on the lore and bonuses are also great; even though earlier I don’t normally go for the extremely hard, I found myself 100%’ing this. There’s a really tough challenge at the very end of all that, and I would say If you liked Splatoon 2, pick this up. It’s the expansion of Single Player that it deserves, though prepare for a few frustrating challenges.
... But now you have to pay for a terrible service to play it online so keep that in mind...
Tumblr media
Celeste [Switch]
This is a fucking great game and you should buy it. It’s a challenging (very hard) platformer in the line of super meat boy and maybe even I Wanna Be The Guy, but this does it extremely right. restarting is very quick, the controls are incredibly tight, and the levels are genuinely clever and fun.
The story is also really solid, and I can’t recommend the whole package as a solid game.
Tumblr media
Grow Up [PC]
This is the sequel to Grow Home, a game I’ve quick-reviewed a long time back. I liked the whole explore a whole planet and find some neat stuff, however the challenges are reliant on some weird procedural animations which don’t necessarily cooperate. It kinda overstays it’s welcome as a result, though the open nature of it is really fun. I have a hard time recommending this one, but it’s still a pretty solid romp even if it fights you a bit.
Tumblr media
Sonic Mania Plus [Switch]
Having 100% the base game which I highly recommend, I was expecting a lot more things to do with this. Encore mode is fun; I really like how you can change up your characters and have to adjust on the fly. The new special stages are tough but fun, but the pinball minigame is.. not good. Gets old pretty quick. additionally it doesn’t add much after encore mode. Might and Ray have abilities that meaningfully add some neat gameplay stuff, but after how great the base game was, I was expecting a little bit more. That being said, the DLC is a nice bonus for the base game and you can’t really go wrong with it.
Tumblr media
Lovely Planet [PC]
So I made a point to only play this game when I was drunk. The first few times I happened to be when I played it, so I stuck with it. This is a quick-restarting FPS with a focus on perfect shots and maneuvering to destroy all the target and get to the end as soon as possible. It’s hard as balls but really silly, so if you’re into perfectionist gameplay it’s worth a go. Probably not drunk tho.

Ever Oasis [3DS]
IIRC, this came out at a time where there was a lull in Nintendo games, or at least 3DS games so this one was very much skimmed over. It’s a mix between a town management sim and Zelda-style dungeon crawling and resource gathering. On paper, and even somewhat in game, this is a cool idea; you get townsfolk who can go with you on missions, each with their own abilities, and what you get outside of the town is used to help expand you town, which will buff you/your townspeople's abilities to go further in dungeons.
In practice however... they don’t really mesh. The limitation of 1 item per party member and items being locked to specific people you need to find, going to dungeons is a chore as you need to find out which characters you need to actually play (often not your best). Meanwhile, time passes so quickly and your town’s shopkeepers run out of resources so quickly, it’s a full time job to keep up the town and then you run out. They mitigate this near the end game by have the ability to make parties out of townspeople who can’t own shops, which are very rare. The ending is good up until the last moment where they do a thing that doesn’t make sense to get some points for emotion but... It just doesn’t work to me.
All in all, it has a demo to show how a dungeon works, and if you like management AND what that dungeon has to offer, go for it. Otherwise, the setting and character design are great but not enough to really hold interest

Q.U.B.E. 2 [PC]
The First game was Portal-esque in that you navigated the first-person Cube puzzle maze without any dialogue while manipulating the chambers with a variety of cube-spawning and extending abilities. You had to piece out and interpret the story yourself. This is the opposite; there’s a lot of dialogue, story set-pieces, and it’s bizarrely paced. You’ll get through most the game in like an hour, but then the last 2-3 chapters are the bulk of the game. Those are pretty fun, but the game is still incredibly short and I liked the tone of the first better. It’s short, it’s not bad, but it doesn’t really stand out.

NES Classic
So I dunno if I love or hate this thing. It’s great because it’s an official NES with controller and emulator and gives me the opportunity to play a buncha games I hadn’t before, but the controller cable is too small, the damn thing has trouble getting enough power (EDIT: This was actually my aparement’s faulty wiring, though if you aren’t supplying it with enough power the sound won’t work either), and this things existence is probably part of the reason we’ve not seen a proper virtual console support on Switch. You can hack it to be able to upload other ROMs to it, which is neat (I haven’t done that), but ultimately it’s worth looking at the games and asking yourself: Do I really want to play most of these? Do I really want to buy this when I’ve already bought most of them?
Tumblr media
SNES Classic
This is the same as above but more expensive with less games... But to me is a better value. It has a better selection of games (in my opinion), though they could’ve included some better ones. It still has the power issues (which are overcomable easily) but comes with 2 controllers with longer cables. Also StarFox 2 is a very nice game. I’d recommend this more than the NES Classic, but again, weigh what’s in it vs what you actually want to play if you can’t already
Tumblr media
WarioWare Gold [3DS]
This is a compilation game done right. It has the WarioWare charm and the voice acting adds even more to it. The microgame selection and adaptations are wonderful, and honestly I don’t have any complaints. It has changed everything to fit in one of 3 (+2 smaller ones) categories: Mash, Twist, and Touch (+ blow and short). These are normally separate by category, but near the end they mix and match and even do some fun mix-up with it in the very last rounds and bonus game modes.  Whether your first WarioWare or a veteran, this is in my opinion the best in the series, and I would suggest you give it a go.
Tumblr media
Monster Hunter World [PC]
So this one is hard. I really wanted to like it, and after playing Dauntless I thought I would. I even promised friends I would play it with them frequently and keep up but... between friends being able to play when I couldn’t and the game’s wonky controls and online issues, I was falling behind and getting frustrated. That’s kinda side stuff; if I really liked it I could’ve caught up. The truth is, I liked Dauntless better because while it was also very buggy, the combat was just a lot more straightforward and responsive. Monster Hunter seemed like Dauntless with a bunch of annoyances added onto it. There are tons of collectibles and recipes, weapon sharpness is entirely pointless when the monsters run anyway to give you breaks, the weapons I played seemed sluggish to attack with, and monster attacks were unclear a lot of the time. Everything just felt like a pain in the ass or waste of time to deal with and put a lot of focus on inventory management or grinding, and to me the core game you would do that for just wasn’t there.
Like I enjoyed the free roaming and exploration, but the fighting is just not for me and that’s the whole point of the free roaming and all that. I feel bad about not liking this after enjoying Dauntless, but I just am not into Monster Hunter and will be skipping the series from now on.
Tumblr media
Katamari Forever [PS3]
I got this one thinking it was a compilation game of all the Katamari games!
It was not. It’s actually the hardest Katamari game... Which kinda surprised me about how much of a dick they are when you start out since their controls are incredibly weird and unintuitive (you get used to them) and anything short of perfection will get the Kings to any where from passive aggressively imply you did poorly or just straight out call you awful and not to bother.
Here’s the part where randomly in the giant text post I just completely break whatever I was talking about because I’m 95% no one actually reads this so for shits and giggles the first person to reply to my tweet where I posted a link to the blogpost stating that they found this paragraph will get a free me replying back to that tweet saying “nice” back. An enticing gift amirite? Anyway continuing on.
That being said, it’s pretty fun after all that; there are one or two levels designed to be super annoying but the ones where you play the core game of quickly building your Katamari are for the most part very solid. This is for existing fans of the series, but i had a pretty good time with it after I got past the barrier to entry.
Tumblr media
Shantae: Half-Genie Hero: Ultimate Edition [PC]
I’ve talked about liking Shantae before on this blog; I mentioned that I liked Pirate’s Curse but the fact that side missions and collectibles were actually required for game completion. This Shantae looks great and all, but they completely tossed out the open-like nature and makes it a series of linear levels that you have to revisit at least 2-3 times to find the stuff that should’ve been off somewhere in a different series of areas and optional that’s really just slightly out of reach due to a power up you arbitrarily find after the level you needed to use it in ends. Dungeons are completely gone; the game literally is just “go right” and remember all the little things you couldn’t get to for when you have to backtrack over and over again.
That’s just the base game, and even with all that said it’s not a bad game, it just doesn’t really feel like a Shantae game anything other than aesthetically. I spent a few hours trying to 100% the base game, but after getting 99% and discovering I had to backtrack yet again to a snake merchant to trade for dances just to use them once and trade back, I just had 0 interest in getting the final percent. There are also a variety of different takes on the same campaign where you play as Shantae in different costumes with different abilities, Risky, or even Bolo + Skye + Rotty, and again those look fun but... I don’t really want to play the same game another 10 times.
Tumblr media
Dragalia Lost [Android]
This is Nintendo’s first jump into mobile with a new IP, and while it’s definitely banking hard on more traditional gacha mechanics (you can get 5 star items instead of Hero characters only), it’s definitely not bad. It’s pretty generous with stamina and resources, at least when you start, and my only major complaint is how you seem to hit a wall in terms of how long it takes to really progress about a week or so of playing every day in. And it’s quite a wall; there’s quite a lot of grinding needed once you get to chapter 6 (the current final chapter that really feels like just the end of a prologue (Edit, they recently added chapter 7)), so you really need to like it. The levels are kinda simple as well, though there’s a maze-like area in the story that’s a bit more clever so it’s a start at least. All and all, it’s worth a try, but if you don’t like the top-down brawler after the first world, it’s not worth forcing through gacha mechanics for; especially since after you complete normal story mode, all you’re going to be doing is grinding to get through hard and the summoning currency gets scarce fast. For reference, getting enough to be able to challenge the High Dragon quests and not immediately die in them takes 2 months of grinding specifically for that purpose if you use your stamina optimally, which you won’t because events are more fun anyway

Overcooked 2 [Switch Download]
So this is actually really fun with a friend or 3; and that’s where it really shines. Sure, you can do it single player but it just doesn’t feel as fun. This is a sort of quick time-management game where you have to frantically run around cooking various recipes before they run out of time, to get a star rating at the end. There’s some bad levels, but the majority are really fun and it feels very fair even in single layer; I always think at the end regardless of the rank that I could’ve managed my dudes to do even better. The only real complaint is the loading times seem... unnecessarily long. Especially for restarting a level. It’s nothing too bad though.
Luckily this has online multiplayer, so I highly recommend picking this up on a platform that your friends have it on, ie Steam. I got it on Switch and in hindsight since I strongly dislike Nintendo’s online service I really wish I had gotten like a 2-pack on Steam. That’s not a complaint with the game though; I really liked it!
Tumblr media
Super Mario Party [Switch]
Probably the best Mario Party in a very, VERY long time. This is going to be a longer review. I played this first with Keewy and his roommates and we had a great time in every single game mode (except online).
The Mario Party mode is really good; they’ve shrunk the map and reduced how much stars cost to 10 coins, but 10-15 turn games can still take an hour to an hour and a half. This makes it a much simpler, easier to get mode, but the real star here is them bringing back the Ally & character dice mechanic from Mario Party Star Rush (had it’s good moments, but was on 3DS so that’s it for that). Each character can roll a normal 1-6 dice, but they also each have a unique die that has different numbers on it. These are for the most part balanced; character with higher numbers on their dice also have downsides instead of a 1. 0′s, losing coins, and in some cases gaining coins (because you still don’t move), and it adds a level of strategy to it where otherwise it would be just “roll and hop for the best. That’s what it is still, but sometimes you can choose. You can also pick up other characters who will help you in minigames, give you the option to roll their die, and add 1-2 spaces to your roll. It’s super fun.
The River Rafting mode is 4-player co-op, and it’s pretty fun as well your first run through. Not single player though; this very much shines with 4 people. However, because there are only like 8? 4-player co-op minigames, you see every game on your first run so it doesn’t really hold up after your first couple runs.
The dance mode is great; it’s like Rhythm heaven but Mario Party themed. Again, these minigames are really fun, but once you play through all 3 difficulties, which takes about 10 minutes, there aren’t any you haven’t played.
2v2 is ripped straight out of Star Rush, which is a great thing. Again, don’t play this with a cpu on your team at least. As far as I can tell, even in Mario Party mode, CPU’s make the same brain-dead decisions on the boards regardless of their difficulty level. Anyway, this has the same 4 boards but opened up vastly; You now roll, combine it with your partner, then add any allies you may have picked up along the way’s 1-2 rolls and other bonuses. The point is to land on the starspace and buy it, and it’s just a good time to see the strategy involved with either going for the stars, allies, or secondary goals. By far the best alternative Mario Party gameplay style in a while (way better than Island Tour’s linear maps and 9-10′s Car mode), but again there’s only the 4 maps.
So I guess my only true complaint is that while there are a lot of minigames, they’re split so much over the different modes they don’t feel like a lot and you see repeats frequently. Additionally it would be nice to turn on/off the bonus stars at the end and other options involving maybe skipping some of the cutscenes (star moving, places changed, etc.). All in all, the best and most interesting Mario Party in a long, long time. I highly recommend it if you have a friend to pick it up with.
Tumblr media
Just Shapes & Beats
Got this game for a bit of random multiplayer. It’s a pretty fun, music based bullet hell game all about staying alive through the song while crazy stuff happens on screen. The story mode doesn’t overstay its welcome, but there’s also plenty of content and challenges for those who are so inclined, and only one of the levels felt utterly, bullshitingly unfair (which is really good with bullet hells) so It’s a fun time if you’re into top down bullet hells, and better with a friend in challenge mode
Tumblr media
Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee [Switch]
I could write a dissertation on this game and how it’s neither good or bad; it’s just kinda... there. Some aspects are incredibly disappointing; the capture mechanics are absolute garbage, forced motion controls are atrocious, player/npc animations and interactions are completely stilted and lazy, the world is very bland vs Sun and Moon, the performance in handheld mode drops frames sometimes which is unacceptable, there’s almost zero post game, and even more. It’s by all means an HD reskin of a Gameboy game running on their crappy 3DS engine.
But there’s a lot of good here as well; seeing pokemon in the overworld is amazing and should be the case in the series moving forward, partner pokemon (eevee) are fun and fucking adorable, riding pokemon is great, having fast captures makes chaining a really fun mechanic, Having some of the E4 and Gym leaders interact with you during your quest makes the world interesting, connectivity with go is very limited but still good, having only one pokemon be obtainable only once in the game is a welcome and frankly overdue change in the game, removing breeding/abilities/held items really streamlines the mechanics and makes the game more enjoyable in a lot of cases, and I could go on.
I’m not going to recommend it, but I mean if you liked any pokemon game you’re definitely not going to not have fun with this one, even if the randomness in the capture mechanics frustrates you to no end
Tumblr media
Super Smash Bros Ultimate [Switch]
So I mean it’s smash bros. Not much really to say about that, it’s pretty good. I kinda like Smash Bros not just for the multiplayer but the single-player as well, which is why Brawl is still my Favorite so take that as my approach here. The normal gameplay is fine, though the input buffer feels wonky at times and some characters are much harder to play against than others, which in combination with the sheer amount of characters makes it very difficult to get the hang of and counter accordingly, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It’s just the barrier between playing casually and playing a bit more seriously feels sudden when randomly coming across characters that have inherent advantages from being wonky. Cloud for example seems to have a move for evertyhing, can spit out attacks very quickly, and if you try anything silly they’ll just charge a better move, and then randomly fighting a Ganondorf is like “I hope they don’t know how to read you because you can die at like 35 from a single fuck up”
The Single Player content though was... Disappointing. Not nearly as bad as Sm4sh, but it seems like they spent so much time putting as many characters and stages in the game as possible that they realized they wouldn’t have time to do old game modes the same way, so they made a system which allowed them to make custom smash battles with weird attributes and built the entirety of the bonus content on that. There’s really only adventure mode which is just a progression of Event Matches which gets somewhat stale and repetitive quickly, Mob Smash is just not really that fun past your first run or two, All-Star Smash is actually near impossible and not even rewarding, Classic does one or two cool ideas with routes but they clearly got lazy with a lot of characters there too, and the only platforming challenge in the game is the bonus level which takes 30 seconds and never changes.
Their Online mode is unacceptably bad and lacks options for random fights as well, and given that they’re charging for it this is just flat-out unacceptable. Buy it if you like playing Smash for the Multiplayer (which is almost everyone), but this is a hard pass if you were expecting a large amount of interesting content like Brawl’s Adventure mode had. Or are incapable of learning past a certain point, like me.
Tumblr media
Katamari Damacy Reroll [Switch]
So after having played Forever earlier in the year and hearing how much praise this got, I had very High expectations! Unfortunately the controls are still ehhhhh and the game is surprisingly short; I beat it over the course of a 4ish hour flight. It’s definitely a lot nicer to you than Forever is, but in terms of amount of content it’s not aged well. If you’ve not played it before, pick it up on sale, but as far as I can tell this outing doesn’t add anything new to the original and it’s just a straight up re-release
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mario Tennis Aces [Switch]
So does anyone actually look forward to Mario Tennis Games? The past two have been husks of content and this one’s not really much better. The charging mechanic is interesting, but doesn’t feel that consistent or fair in some scenarios, but like was anyone waiting for this to get announced? Or is this just a “safe” series that sells okay and pads out the library for quick cash?”
It’s weird that they knew the Adventure mode was something fans really, REALLY wanted and touted it as some huge deal, even advertising it with a cool pre-rendered cutscene, and the whole mode with all challenges turns out to be at most a couple hours long, repetitive, and only actually has the two cutscenes (the 2nd being like 10 seconds). They made some silly RPG level up mechanic which didn’t feel like it made any difference, you can’t change your character so you’re really only learning how Mario plays, and it does a really poor job of explaining the different kinds of shots to you so it’s not even good for learning the game. I wasn’t expecting an experience worth telling for generations with the plot either, but even that gives up on itself; Luigi is possessed but he doesn’t do anything the whole game until you fight him, not even with the 3/5 power stones you have, and these power stones you spent the game collecting don’t do anything or matter because Bowser comes out of no where and “takes” the racket and power stones and challenges you to an admittedly fun boss fight. Not in a cutscene mind you, you’re just told this happens. It’s just lazy.
The game has some visual issues too; it’s missing any sort of stylistic flair and honestly just looks like an up-res’d Wii game, though with smoother models. Shadows flicker and cut through textures, and something weird’s going on with anti-aliasing that makes everything look blurry as hell too. I will say props for going to the effort of making tennis costumes for every character though; so that’s more effort than what went into Ultra Smash.
If you’re a huge, HUGE fan of Mario Tennis, go nuts. But uh, yeah this isn’t really worth your time for the price otherwise
Tumblr media
Starlink: Battle for Atlas (Starter Pack) [Switch]
Yeah so it’s rich coming from me, but honestly this game is only hindered by the physical toys. As far as I can tell you can only play as generic Mr. No Personality or Fox, and then you only have the two options for weapons. The game could get interesting combat-wsie with the combinations of ships and like I think 14ish different weapons? But with just the starter pack you run through what the game has to offer pretty quick.
It is interesting though how I very rarely play Ubisoft games and hadn’t played one since their open-world formula milking, but right away I could tell that it was a Ubisoft open world game. There’s a lot to do, a lot of planets to explore, movement is fun and surprisingly easy, combat is pretty straightforward and has potential, but the key thing is that there’s like 30-50 facilities on each planets with like 4 different types of objectives (3 of which are “kill the same bad guys immediately here”), and you can spend hours on one planets doing some minor variance on that same thing over and over and over.
It’s a pretty good start in terms of base mechanics for what would be a cool system for an open StarFox game (and I know it wasn’t trying for that) but the repetitiveness of exploring, frankly pathetic writing in terms of characters, and locking a lot of the interesting content behind toys detracts from the experience. It’s definitely not un-fun, but after clearing 4 planets and seeing that’s just what the game is doing I don’t have any interest in continuing.
At least other than to see StarFox, because Ubisoft did them better justice than Nintendo has in years.
Best Game I Played in 2018: Celeste
Easy choice here, Celeste has a wonderful story, looks gorgeous, plays like a dream and managed to be an incredibly challenging platformer that didn’t make me lose my patience ever, which is AMAZING considering how little patience I have whenever I fail at a game.
I was going to pick the best game that actually came out in 2018 but honestly it’d be between like 4 games that I had gripes with in some way or another, so i’m going to say Overcooked 2 is pretty fucking solid and leave this whole run on sentence in the heading font because why not it’s my dead blog I can do whatever the fuck I wan-
Anyway that’s it. Hope everyone had a good year

speakers: ARVICKA mini desktop computer speakers
mouse: corsair mouse i stole from my brother
keyboard: glorious gmmk pro with gazzew boba u4 switches. (in mail, cannot review rn)
webcam: logitech c615
haha if you're reading this and you're not me, i play genshin impact, modded stardew valley, modded minecraft/servers, the sims 4*, and planet zoo. this is system is overkill. if you're looking to play similar games, you don't need 144hz monitors or a 3060 graphics card. save your money, especially because EA sucks.
* i've heard that if you want to play the sims 4 faster, the sims 4 is a single-threaded game, meaning you wont get any benefit from ryzen's multi-threaded cores**. just an fyi. id still recommend ryzen over intel because games that arent made by EA will actually optimize and multi-thread lol
** so what i mean by this is that the sims 4 runs like shit because its unoptimized and there comes a point where even the fastest cpu is waiting on the game to finish its thread before it can do the next task. its just what happens when you prioritize paid dlc over gameplay. send me an ask if you're really curious, but also this is just what ive heard. i've lost access to my sims 4 since the steam merger and am waiting for sims 5.
