Winter fun with the 212th and adjacent headaches :3
Happy Holidays and New Years @wanderingjedihistorian I hope you'll like this❤️ (how does it feel to be the recipient of all my codywan-related drawings XD?) Jedi are horrible disasters when you put them on ice and I will not be convinced otherwise.
Thank you @starwarsfandomfests for organizing this exchange! ❤️

Could I have detailed out any one of these on its own and be done with it? Most likely. Did I get overwelmed with all the cool reference pictures I had found once I decided what I will draw, and then couldn't pick? Absolutely. Will I still draw Cody and Obi-Wan the first time I'll have time for a personal project next year even though I don't want to see them ever again? You know me and can recognize patterns, of course that is what I will do XD

Jedi culture & community fics, my beloved! They're a bit of a rare breed for what you're specifically looking for, specifically focusing on positive Jedi worldbuilding, so if anyone has genfic recs outside of the ones I know, please feel free to add them! But these should help scratch that itch for you, each of them has at least some focus on Jedi philosophy or how Jedi interact with each other or the lessons they teach! It's been awhile since I've read some of them, so there might be some that aren't quite as in-line with how I see the Jedi these days, but they're all ones I felt portrayed them pretty positively and they're all genfic (except one that I made an exception for) and all really lovely fics I remember enjoying for the Jedi worldbuilding aspects! And there are some that will make you absolutely melt with how much you love these characters and their beautiful culture, because by god if canon's not going to give us as much detail as we want, fandom will step up. And fandom made sure to not just focus on the disaster lineage--we love Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Ahsoka, we always want more of them, please don't stop writing Jedi worldbuilding with them!--but also Mace and Yoda and Quinlan and Qui-Gon and even some Jedi OCs get some love in these fics, which makes me want to explode with joy to see! So, come cry about how much we love the Jedi with me, I WILL GIVE YOU A CRAPLOAD OF FIC TO READ. STAR WARS & JEDI CULTURE & WORLDBULDING RECS YOU'LL FIND HERE:
NOVEL AND NOVELLA LENGTH
MID-LENGTH
SHORT AND YET SO GOOD-LENGTH
NOVEL AND NOVELLA LENGTH: ✦ Remedial Jedi Theology by MarbleGlove, obi-wan & anakin & jedi & cast, 51.3k     Let us consider the fact that the Jedi Order is a monastic religious organization based out of a temple, with five basic tenets of faith. ✦ Festival of Light by dendral, obi-wan & anakin & ahsoka, 8.7k     During his first year at the Jedi Temple, Anakin learns that even the Jedi celebrate holidays. ✦ Out with Lanterns by SkyeBean, ahsoka & mace & jedi & clones & cast, 312.5k     In another universe, Jedi Masters Plo Koon and Depa Billaba decide a Padawan could do Mace some good. It takes a while, but he eventually agrees. When he takes Ahsoka Tano as his Padawan, Mace knows that he's broken through a Shatterpoint and changed the course of a life. How, he doesn't know. ✦ eat well; be well by gingerbeer, rainsoaked_benevolence (oceans_bluem), obi-wan & anakin & ahsoka & yoda & depa & shaak & quinlan & aayla & cast, 18.6k     Or, (almost) all of the Jedi High Councilors (plus Ahsoka) gather to eat dinner together. ✦ Supreme Chancellor Obi-Wan Kenobi by stonefreak, obi-wan & anakin & padme & ahsoka & palpatine & yoda & quinlan & cody & cast, 126.3k wip     By an old Republic law, all members of the Jedi High Council are senators in the Galactic Senate, and can thus be voted in as chancellor. A Senator from a less prominent planet has had enough of Chancellor Palpatine's incompetence and calls for a Vote of No-Confidence and the installation of Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi as Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic. This one action becomes the catalyst that changes the direction of the galaxy. ✦ Pragmatics of the Jedi by aroacejoot, ghostwriterofthemachine, loosingletters, obi-wan & anakin & ahsoka & jedi, 31.3k     A series of fanfiction exploring the consequences and results of the Jedi having their own language, and speaking it still. ✦ light by loosingletters, obi-wan & anakin & ahsoka & mace & jedi, 56.1k     Anakin Skywalker is a Jedi and being a part of their Order means that he is protected and accepted. The war is over and the Republic has to recover from the crimes of the Sith Lord, the Jedi have to figure out what it means to be peacekeepers again and the Clones have to learn how to be more than expendable soldiers. ✦ When Darkness Seems to Hide This Place by IllyanaA, obi-wan & anakin & ahsoka & kanan & ocs & cast, 94.9k wip     After killing three of the Jedi Order's best and brightest, Palpatine's fight with Jedi Master Mace Windu goes shorter than expected. Afraid he's lost his chance at recruiting a new apprentice, Sidious unleashes Order 66 across the galaxy, but, per their programming, the Clone Army is not to harm Anakin Skywalker. After witnessing the most painful loss he's ever experienced and injured at the hands of his captors, Anakin is ready to die like the rest of the Jedi, though not before getting his vengeance.
✦ Knightrise by Deviant_Accumulation, obi-wan & yoda & satine & ahsoka & asajj & cast, 89.4k wip     "Strong enough to fight the Sith Lord, you are not.“ And just like that the fight drained out of Obi-Wan, the barely scraped together agitation running out of him like water from a broken glass. He looked at Yoda, the other Master already hobbling towards one of the back exits, his presence burning with focus, obviously expecting Obi-Wan to follow. ✦ Make a Brand New End by Batsutousai, obi-wan & anakin & feemor & qui-gon & yoda & mace & dooku & jedi, 118.6k     Feemor, Qui-Gon Jinn's first padawan, did not survive Order 66, but the Force granted him a boon: A chance to go back to days before Qui-Gon's death. He doesn't know why the Force picked him to remember that terrible future, but he's going to do what he can to change it. And if he can heal the rift fallen between himself and Qui-Gon, and finally get the chance to know Obi-Wan, well, he's not about to turn that down. ✦ Unexpected Awakening (The Rewrite) by Rhiw, obi-wan & qui-gon & bruck & feemor & cast, time travel, 135.1k wip     The life of General Kenobi is cut short at the hands of his Padawan, but the sight that greets his eyes upon awakening is not that of blinding light of the Force, but the Jedi Temple he knew when he was still a youth. As he struggles to understand the path laid out before him, Obi-Wan unwittingly captures the attention of a singularly unusual Temple Guard, and that of a reluctant Qui-Gon Jinn. ✦ No Rest for the Weary by orphan_account, obi-wan & anakin & jedi, 61k     Needing a break from life at the Jedi Temple, Obi-Wan Kenobi and his apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, visit a Jedi AgriCorps settlement on the Midrim planet of Helia. There they encounter new friends, new enemies and have new adventures, all while attempting to navigate their sometimes turbulent relationship as Master and Padawan. ✦ The Moments That Time Remembered by CallToMuster, obi-wan & mace & vokara & bant & quinlan & garen & depa & jedi, 82.4k     Obi-Wan’s first memory was not his own. Rather, it was a vision steeped in darkness and flashes of red and choking heat and you were my brother and the harsh crash of lightsabers striking one another. He woke up sobbing in the arms of the crèchemaster, Master Kitaddik, who was hushing him and gently stroking the top of his head with her furry hands. Obi-Wan hid his face in the soft folds of her tunic and, still crying, fell back asleep. The first time Obi-Wan collapsed due to a vision was not long after that. [Or: in all the various iterations of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s life, the Force spoke to him. But in this one, it never stopped.] ✦ Starrunner by orpheus_under_starlight, obi-wan & jedi & oc, 80.2k wip     In what would have been the year 17 BBY, Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine is found slumped over his desk, dead to rights and emitting a foul odor. The coroners declare the body victim to a heart attack and the smell a result of a lack of a timely embalming—a bit of bowels humor, the head coroner says with a nervous laugh when interviewed by the Galactic Enquirer.
MID-LENGTH: ✦ 飽了嗎? | Have you eaten your fill? by virdant, obi-wan & anakin & ahsoka & qui-gon & quinlan & yoda & dooku & mace & bant & jedi, 13k     The Force is the first language that Obi-Wan learned to speak, the brush of one mind against another. But food is the second language that Obi-Wan learned to speak with, and he talks, he talks, he talks. A collection of fics about food and how food is an articulation of love. ✦ We Will Abide by naberiie, plo & shaak, 10.3k     Light. Dark. Balance. Beneath the Jedi Temple, far below the chaos of Coruscant's Galactic City, ancient halls and corridors sleep in silent darkness. Padawans Shaak Ti and Plo Koon are determined to explore them. ✦ What Is My Heritage? by Marnie, qui-gon & yoda, 7.7k     Qui-Gon, age 13, tries to find a place to belong. ✦ Coming Home by Marnie, qui-gon & yoda & dooku, 18.1k     A story telling how Qui-Gon comes to be Dooku's apprentice. ✦ Master by CJinn, obi-wan & anakin, 27.5k     Obi-Wan Kenobi had always wanted to become a Jedi Knight. What he didn't expect was to become a Master merely days after his own Master died. Adapting to his new role as the mentor and Master of the quite unusual Padawan Anakin Skywalker became a bumpy road.
✦ into the statue that breathes by spoonks, obi-wan & feemor & cin & cast, 8.5k     The night watch in the garden was supposed to be the calmest of them all. No mischievous Padawans “sneaking” in or out, or ne’er-do-well civilians conducting “business” around the lower-level entrances that they didn’t know existed. No the gardens was still, and it was like time was frozen in ice that slowly melted away with the rising of the sun. A slow drip, drip— Drip. Immediately Feemor turned towards the central waterfall. Someone was standing there. Whoever they were, they were small and moved through katas with their hands open like a greeting. ✦ The Cave by Ria Talla (ronia), anakin & ahsoka & cast, time travel, 10k     Ahsoka Tano, post-Star Wars Rebels/? And there was something else, more important, though Ahsoka found herself loath to do it. Her lightsabers drawn, deep in the labyrinth formed by the stone warriors and the crumbled temple. Yet the words broke certain into her mind. Your eyes can deceive you. Her heart pounded, as though warning her otherwise. But Ahsoka withdrew her sabers, and closed her eyes. Rather than her weapons, she let the Force be her light. ✦ A Candle in the Night by phoenixyfriend, anakin/luminara & obi-wan, time travel, 12k     In which Luminara finds a heavily injured Jedi, nurses him back to health, and falls in love. Then they get back to the real world, and she just can't figure him out... ✦ Found Clan by silvergryphon, boba & ocs & obi-wan & anakin & cast, 25.3k wip     After the Battle of Geonosis, a Jedi Healer discovers young Boba Fett mourning the loss of his father. Not about to leave a ten-year-old boy on his own, she promptly adopts him with the full collusion of her Padawan. ✦ the heart of kyber by outpastthemoat, obi-wan & anakin & qui-gon & depa & kanan & jedi, 32.7k     Tales of the Jedi: Stories about lightsabers, masters, and apprentices. ✦ Stars of Tatooine by Be_Right_Back, ahsoka & mace & kanan & obi-wan & rex & cast, 10.5k     After the end of the world, Ahsoka more or less kidnaps a child, has to air some old grievances, and tries to find whatever peace the universe can still offer. All paths in the Force lead home, eventually. ✦ The Uses of a Sandwich by Laura Kaye (laurakaye), obi-wan & qui-gon & yoda & cast, 17.6k     A few months after being taken as a Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi faces a challenge: meeting his Master's first apprentice. ✦ Familes Found by fyrefly, obi-wan & anakin & ahsoka & padme & mace & plo, 8.2k     In a universe where "The Wrong Jedi" never happened, the war ends under different circumstances and perhaps everyone will get a chance at a happy ending after all.
SHORT AND YET SO GOOD-LENGTH: ✦ The Mathematics of Repair by panharmonium, obi-wan & anakin & cast, 4.6k     For raw teachers and rough-edged students building in the rubble: tiny steps are enough, provided they carry you in the right direction. Immediately post TPM, in short snippets. ✦ The Living Force; Parables for Padawans by glorious_clio, obi-wan & cast, 6.1k     Since infancy, younglings are taught the Jedi Code, “Emotion, yet peace. Ignorance, yet knowledge. Passion, yet serenity. Chaos, yet harmony. Death, yet the Force.” Obi-Wan Kenobi learns these tenets backwards and forwards again. But even as a child, he is interested in nuance. And so his teachers tell him parables. ✦ A Jedi's Cloak ImperialKatwala, obi-wan & anakin & qui-gon & cody & rex, 6.4k Jedi cloaks are made for children. Obi-Wan Kenobi is a year and a half old when he first sees this principle in action. He is fourteen, twenty-five, twenty-nine, and thirty-six when he gets a reminder.     Or: Jedi cloaks are weird. Here's a series of events showing why they're made that way. ✦ the master, the padawan, the Force by skatzaa, kanan & depa. 1.4k     Caleb expects things to be different after Master Depa takes him as her padawan, but really, it feels like nothing really changes. ✦ For the Future of the Order by thetorontokid, obi-wan & qui-gon & cast, 3.9k     There are important lessons to be found in the Jedi Temple creche.
✦ Memories of Peace by Margan, obi-wan & clones, 2k     It's not quite flash training, but the Clones are used to learning fast. It helps that this is something that they actually look forward to learning, to putting into practice. Obi-Wan teaches the Clones how to make dumplings in the middle of war. ✦ Liberosis by Be_Right_Back, anakin & mace & yoda & jedi, 2.2k     The war is over, the Sith are gone, and there is now Anakin Skywalker's secret marriage to deal with. While love is a wonderful thing, some truths are hard to face, and letting go is the destiny of all Jedi. Or: the Council and Anakin clash. It doesn't go as terribly as it could have. ✦ Accepting Emotion by LazarusII, obi-wan & ahsoka, 1.1k     Dealing with the stress and anxiety of being a prospective Padawan, Ahsoka Tano struggles to manage her emotions. Obi-Wan Kenobi finds her practicing in the dojo, confidence in tatters. His words make all the difference. ✦ A Long, Long Time Ago by ruth baulding, dooku & qui-gon + qui-gon & obi-wan + obi-wan & anakin + anakin & ahsoka, 5.8k     A wisdom tale handed passed down through the generations poses troublesome questions for a line of masters and Padawans, from Dooku to Ahsoka Tano.
✦ Duet by Silver Sky 1138, oc & cin, 2.3k     Asha Scarsi, the Jedi Padawan who feels the Force through music, isn't half as good at lightsaber combat as she is at singing and mindtricks. So she's a little nervous when Battlemaster Cin Drallig calls her to the training room after class. ✦ The One Where Anakin Tries to Be Serious by GirlwithCurls98, anakin & ahsoka, 1k     Even though they're fighting a war, Anakin finds the time to lead his apprentice through one of the Jedi's sacred ceremonies. ✦ Obi-Wan and the Force by AwayOHumanChild, obi-wan & cast, ~1k     One of the first things Jedi Initiates learn is that everyone experiences the Force differently.
✦ Night Shift at the Temple by ReneeoftheStars, oc jedi & cast, 1.8k     A Jedi Temple Guard sees all, speaks to few, and has attachments to no one. One must be prepared for any threats that may arise, especially at night, while most of the Temple sleeps. ✦ The Orchards by Raven_Knight, obi-wan & qui-gon & cast, 3.6k     When young Obi-Wan Kenobi is injured on a previous mission, Qui-Gon Jinn refuses to accept further off-planet missions until his Padawan's recovery. Yoda assigns the pair an in-Temple mission of utmost importance while Obi-Wan heals. Master and Padawan welcome the change of pace. ✦ Tipping Point by Ria Talla (ronia), adi gallia & finis valorum & eeth koth, 3.3k     "I believe that if what's happening on Naboo is allowed to continue, the other member systems will wonder what they owe to a Republic that can no longer protect them." ✦ A Personal Touch by DragonHoardsBooks, obi-wan & anakin, 6.2k     New jedi padawan Anakin Skywalker realizes that there is more to being a jedi then he tought. Discovering a completely new culture will take time and effort, but maybe he'll make some friends along the way.
✦ Jedi Parables by Peppermint_Shamrock, jedi, 5.8k     Values are often passed down generation to generation through stories, parables, and fables. What stories might the Jedi teach their children? ✦ Songs for Little Jedi by soft_but_gremlin, mace & jedi, ~1k     The initiates are having nightmares, so Mace sings a lullaby to comfort them. ✦ a thin thread of hope by wrennette, shaak & clones, ~1k     Shaak Ti introduces some cadets to one of her favourite crafts, under the guise of training. ✦ rah kat by js71, obi-wan & anakin & aayla, 1.6k     "Aay’shee," Obi-Wan murmurs into her ear, rocking her gently, like when jaieh was off on a mission she couldn’t go on, so her jaieh-raheniel would take turns having her over at their apartments. ✦ Lessons on Attachment by Siri_Kenobi12, obi-wan & anakin/padme & cast, 2.7k     "Anakin once told me that a Jedi is actually encouraged to love." She said after Obi-Wan had settled. ✦ Straw Dogs by Cymbidia, obi-wan & jedi & cast, 2.9k     An old Jedi Master imparts some wisdom concerning Mercy, Balance, and the Will of the Force to young Padawan Obi-wan Kenobi and a gaggle of other younglings. It is a lesson that haunts Obi-wan for the rest of his life. ✦ Refractions of Light by Independence1776, ezra & kanan, 1.3k     Kanan celebrates a Jedi holiday with Ezra.
✦ The grand outing by Ingata, dooku & sifo-dyas & obi-wan & bant & garen & reeft & yoda & cast, 4.5k     Eight younglings and two Jedi masters on a field trip. What could possibly go wrong? ✦ A Short Break by Peppermint_Shamrock, luke & yoda, ~1k     Luke complains about his training, and asks about Jedi training of old. ✦ we are made of our longest days by bereft_of_frogs, obi-wan & anakin & cast, 4.4k     Two years after the events of The Phantom Menace, Obi-Wan and his new apprentice are called to a remote moon to fetch a baby who’s showing signs of a rare, unique power. On their journey home, Obi-Wan reflects on the last child he brought to the Temple and catches a faint glimpse of three possibly entwining futures. ✦ yellow, you're a dreamer by nightdotlight, jocasta & anakin (& obi-wan), 2.6k     Normally, it wouldn’t be unusual, but— Jocasta did not earn her post without listening, and from where she stands in the aisle, gaze fixed upon the back of the young child’s shaking shoulders, she can hear a sniffle reverberate around the space. There’s a child curled up in the corner of the Archives— and they’re crying. ✦ once upon a time (a long, long time ago) by thebitterbeast, barriss & mace & shaak & ki-adi & bacara & trilla & cere, 2.3k     The Jedi love children. Children love stories. This changes some things. ✦ not the place that I was born in (doesn't mean it's not the place where I belong) by ghostwriterofthemachine, obi-wan & anakin, 5k     “What were you consulting Master Obi-Wan about?” “Tea!” says the other Padawan brightly. “I’m performing a tea ceremony for my Master, one that originates from her home world. It’ll be the first time I sit foveo with her!” She says that word— foveo— as if it should mean something to Anakin. It does not. ✦ A Friend Indeed by ExtraPenguin, plo & ahsoka, 3.3k     After their rescue of the colonists of Kiros, Ahsoka Tano's Master asks for her to be sent on a mission away from the front. She ends up being sent to the Deep Core with Master Plo Koon to investigate one of the first known locations of the Jedi Order, since abandoned. ✦ In which we burn bodies as bridges by GraceEliz, obi-wan & ahsoka & depa & kanan & ezra, 1.4k     Lineage mantras, and the processing of grief. ✦ Five Times Mace was There for Obi-Wan, and One Time Obi-Wan Returned the Favour by wrennette, obi-wan & mace, 4k     five of the many times Mace Windu offered Obi-Wan comfort over the years, and one of the many times Obi-Wan returned the favour
✦ as the dust settled around us by thebitterbeast, finn & jedi, 5.2k     Bravery has never been the absence of fear. Prompt: There is no emotion, there is peace. ✦ Adi Gallia, Master of the Order by Perspicacia, adi & jedi, 7.2k wip     Palpatine didn't expect it. It was too soon for that in his plans: which Jedi would have left the Temple under assault? But Adi had. Ashes in her heart, she had left the younglings and the elders and the wounded for her duty to the galaxy, choosing to stop the Sith instead of protecting her people. ✦ “The Padawan Chooses The Master” by lurkingcrow, obi-wan & anakin & cast, 3.6k     prompt: AU - The Jedi say “The Padawan Chooses The Master” Qui Gon lives, Obi Wan is very preoccupied, and Anakin is put into the creche as an Initiate to learn what he can until Qui Gon wakes up from his coma and gets yelled at by the Council. In the meantime, Anakin meets other Jedi Masters and when the Council asks him who he wants to be his teacher, his answer isn’t Qui Gon. Instead it’s *insert your fav Jedi here* ✦ The Only Home We Know by ReneeoftheStars, katooni & petro & ganodi & byph & gungi & zaft & cast, character death, child death, 2.4k     The Jedi Temple is under attack. Determined to fight for their home, younglings Katooni, Petro, Zatt, Ganodi, Byph, and Gungi make their way to aid the Jedi Masters in defense of the Temple. But the situation is far graver than they expected. ✦ Obi-Wan and the Force by AwayOHumanChild, obi-wan & cast, ~1k     One of the first things Jedi Initiates learn is that everyone experiences the Force differently. ✦ The One Where Anakin Tries to Be Serious by Mini_and_Might, anakin & ahsoka, 1k     Even though they're fighting a war, Anakin finds the time to lead his apprentice through one of the Jedi's sacred ceremonies. Might become part of a series of missing scenes from the Clone Wars. ✦ Markings by wabbajack, ahsoka & plo, 1.6k     In which it is revealed that Master Plo Koon has always had a difficult time putting his foot down when faced with his Little 'Soka. ✦ The First Trial by Raven_Knigh, obi-wan & qui-gon, 2k     Accompanied by his Master, Qui-Gon Jinn, young Obi-Wan Kenobi undergoes his first trial and rite as a Padawan Learner on the frozen planet of Ilum.
✦ Arrival by CJinn, obi-wan & yoda & jedi, 2.6k     Little Obi-Wan was only a few days old when he was brought to the Jedi Temple. His arrival caused some confusion among the Jedi. ✦ The Spire by skatzaa, obi-wan & jedi, 2.4k     The galaxy was on the brink of war, and Obi-Wan Kenobi had been assigned a new room. ✦ Room Arrangements by skatzaa, obi-wan & anakin, 2.2k     Anakin has some concerns about room arrangements at the Temple. Obi-Wan does his best to reassure him. ✦ Lineage by virdant, obi-wan & anakin & yoda & jedi, 1.5k     Anakin is new to the temple, and he does not yet understand that these are his brothers and sisters, his cousins, his uncles and aunts. He does not know yet, but he will learn, Obi-Wan thinks. ✦ A Discussion of Choices by Peppermint_Shamrock, luke & mace, 2k     Mace Windu has traveled the galaxy since the fall of the Republic, keeping out of the Empire's sight and teaching where he can. Upon the request of a ghost of an old friend, Mace finds himself instructing Luke Skywalker, who is still reeling from the truth of Vader's identity. ✦ Emotion is our Shared Tongue by virdant, obi-wan & anakin & qui-gon & quinlan & jedi, 2.1k     There are thousands of different species, with different languages and voices and hands, but what all Jedi have in common is the Force, and with the Force, they have language. ✦ To Know by Armin_05, obi-wan & anakin & shmi & kitster & fives & cast, 4.8k     Nearly all Jedi love learning. Anakin Skywalker is no different. Or, how Anakin found a love of learning and shared it with others. ✦ Shatterpoints and Students by soft_but_gremlin, mace & depa, ~1k     Depa always has shatterpoints hovering around her.
✦ Home-onym by virdant, jedi, 1.1k     Jedi younglings, like any other children, enjoy playing. Playing with lightsabers and playing with words. ✦ Threaded Lineage by Pandora151, obi-wan & anakin & ahsoka & kanan & ezra & luke & rey, 2.9k     The journey of a single river stone through many generations of Jedi, allowing the Jedi of the old and the Jedi of the future to be threaded together. ✦ the river and the rock by nightdotlight, anakin & luminara, 1.8k     Lightsabers clash, and Luminara Unduli holds her ground. Oooh. About your parasitic extraction au? How do force sensitives live in the Mandalorian empire? Like you said conscripted, do they have a bastardization of Jedi culture? Are they enslaved? What is it like? Do canon characters live in the empire or in the Jedi Order in hiding? (I'm thinking Mace Windu, Depa Billiba, Plo Koon, and Ahsoka Tano mainly.) Also! Do other clones exist? Mainly the CCs. Wolffe, Fox and Bly lol
the mandalorian empire love having force sensitive warriors because they're extra strong and have superhuman reflexes so they do everything they can to get their hands on as many of them as they can
general practice is for young force sensitives to be 'adopted' by high-ranking mandalorian clans for training. if they're born into a less prominent mandalorian clan, maybe they can train their kid themself or they can surrender the kid. if the family is not a mandalorian family (e.g., one of the occupied worlds) they're supposed to surrender their force-sensitive child for training and this is considered an honorable thing to do. if they don't want to do that and try to get their child to the jedi order instead to save them from being conscripted for basically the rest of their life then usually their whole family gets killed and the child gets sent to a mandalorian clan as above (this happened to ahsoka and she hates the rebellion because she blames them for her family's death)
mandalorian jedi all wear collars which cannot be removed, and the collar denotes their rank. each mandalorian jedi is also assigned to a handler who is supposed to act as support and also is supposed to kill their jedi if they go off the rails (drink too much dark juice from all the murder and start killing everyone). a mandalorian's jedi armor specifically has an undefended back for this purpose. they're not *technically* enslaved because this is considered an honorable position and they get a lot of privileges but like. read between the lines here.
mandalorian jedi are basically all trained in combat and not so much in the psychic philosophical spiritual stuff because the mandalorians think that 'don't kill people' thing is for chumps and they burned down most of the jedi temple's libraries. they just don't know how to do the psychic stuff and most of the psychic stuff doesn't work very well when you don't teach them emotional regulation first. like a trial for all mandalorian jedi is that they get their kyber crystal and they're not promoted until they've killed enough people that it turns red. if that puts things into perspective.
anyways, the old jedi order is in hiding across the galaxy. they wear normal clothes and they got rid of the padawan braid because they don't want to be murdered on sight. instead of the braid, they use a set of prayer beads, which they carve and add beads to as they go through trials and visit different worlds, partially because prayer beads are really easy to dispose of in a hurry. they do have a base in dagobah though where they take care of and teach the youngest force sensitives.
re: who's who, there are a lot of canon characters on both sides. obi-wan, obviously, is one of the traditional jedi. he was mace's padawan when he got captured by jango. depa, plo koon, jocasta, yoda, and maul are all traditional jedi. obviously there are more, but those are the ones who get mentioned by name.
on the mandalorian side, we have ahsoka (whose handler is padme), anakin (whose handler was rex), qui-gon (who is dead), ventress (whose handler is isabet reau), dooku (whose handler is myles), quinlan (who is a spy trying to infiltrate the jedi order), also aayla and vokara che who kind of just briefly show up
the other clones mostly don't exist. I say mostly because when jango put in a clone order for two sons, kamino made three in case one of them didn't make it, but all three of them did make it and the third one is fox, who the kaminoans then put into the brainwashing factory to turn him into a brainwashed super soldier. and then when jango went back and asked for a new son because cody and rex disappointed him, they made three again and two made it. one of them is boba, and the other one I have named kiki. he is also put into the brainwashing factory.
which is all to say. being a jedi is rough as hell regardless of what side you're on.
ask me a question about parasitic extraction, the role reversal mandalorian empire au that I have

This is so???? I do not like the changes idc if they're from the original script. "...But I won't help you."?? It feels very weird idk

OK ignore depressed Yoda but does whoever wrote this not know how pregnancy works? Ofc she's still gonna appear pregnant isn't that just how it works? Like as far as I know there's no need to make it appear so, I guess there is a difference but the belly doesn't simply disappear after birth, right? A woman will probably look pregnant if she dies after giving birth, would she not? Yoda wtf
Tumblr media
CRIMINAL to take away the Padmé funeral scene. It has so much meaning and works so well with the Vader scene what was the reason
Tumblr media
Beautiful moment but to be completely honest Bail and Leia's eyes kinda ruin it. Terrifying baby.

Very funny to me how the artist clearly references most of the scenes after ROTS but for Beru & Owen he decided to make them look like their ANH selves for no apparent reason. Did you not like Beru's Prequels haircut. Why. Also why are Owen and the Eopie (Akkani if you ask the OWK show but then again do you) in frame? Owen I get even if he isn't there in the movie but Akkani. Girly. Give them space.
Good comic overall because it's just a ROTS adaptation. It doesn't add too much but removes too much and it doesn't give the story anything it didn't have before except Quinlan Vos blowing up. Pretty meh as a comic, no real reason for its existence but then again Quinlan blowing up was pretty funny. 2.5/5. It's ROTS but underwhelming with some funny faces (and Quinlan blowing up).
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith #4 Original story & screenplay by George Lucas, script by Christopher Cerasi (originally published under the pseudonym Miles Lane), art by Dough Wheatly

NOT MIGUEL O’HARA ACTUALLY SWINGING IN AND FIGHTING WITH BEST GIRL ARACHNE TO GET HER HELP?? THAT IS NOT HOW YOU ASK FOR HELP MIGUEL 😤
In his defense, Arachne hasn't been having a stellar few weeks, and this is kind of like the straw that broke the camel's back, so to speak. All of the bad just bubbled over, and look, there's someone who can actually take a punch from her.
It's one of those, "hello misplaced aggression" kind of scenarios.
The men of the 501st watch, in growing bewilderment as the two spider people attack each other with the same intensity that one might expect of people trying to murder each other. "I'm guessing," Fives says blandly, "That that's not Peter or Miles." "Just how many spider people are there?" Echo adds. "Well, at least four," Dogma points out logically, wincing as Arachne is thrown into a weight set, and then wincing again as she uses a weight as a frisbee. He's almost relieved when the strange man catches them and drops them to the ground. None of the 501st even stir as the door slides open, and Quinlan walks in, "Hello 501st! I have questi-" He stops, "What the actual kriff?" There's a scuffle, and when the fighting stops, Arachne is dangling from the stranger's hand, hanging from her ankle. Her arms cross over her chest, and she's clearly pouting. "Best two of three." She offers. "No. Absolutely not. Are we feeling less homicidal now?" "Kriff you." The man is about to respond when suddenly it looks like he's glitching. And Arachne falls through his hand and lands on her back. She sits up and peels her mask off, to watch him. "That looks painful," She admits, as she absently rubs an already healing bruise on her cheek. "It is. I need your help." "I don't know what kind of help you need from me, I'm hardly an expert in multidimensional travel." "How did you get here?" "Kingpin shot me." "...oh. I need a lab." Arachne just sighs, "Fine. I'll help you. But only so you'll leave sooner." "Deal."

What if we're all wrong about Blind Betrayal?
TL;DR: Theory: Danse was never supposed to go with Sole during Liberty Reprimed. Haylen told him to go to Listening Post Bravo, but didn't tell him he was a synth so he wouldn't panic, and now there's like three fewer plot holes than there were before
Okay so we all know that Blind Betrayal has more plot holes than swiss cheese. But lets put aside the "Danse's power armor magically going missing" and "Danse surviving off of nothing but whiskey and mentats for potential days" to focus on one that interests me: Danse going AWOL
So if you have Dansey boy as your companion, you and him will go to the Sentinel Site and he will go on about his very important job to... look at some bombs until the scribes show up. Then, he becomes unavailable as a companion and you leave (for the sake of this theory, assume via vertibird) back to the Prydwen. This leads to a few questions:
1. Why is Danse babysitting bombs in the first place? I mean, they've been fine for a good 200 years. Just lock the place up again. What, is a deathclaw going to take all several hundred bombs in the time it takes for the scribes to get there? Unlikely.
2. Why is Danse babysitting bombs alone? And in the glowing sea for that matter? Even Danse says during Lost Patrol "... the first rule of small-group tactics: Stick together. Always stick together". Isn't it a bit weird that Maxson is leaving Danse, one of his best soldiers, alone in the most dangerous part of the wasteland? Why couldn't Sole have waited with him (which for gameplay purposes would probably look like the scribes showing up immediately), or have literally any other soldier NPC show up to wait with him??
3. How did Maxson realize he's missing? Even if the scribes showed up minutes after Sole left and realized Danse was gone immediately, they wouldn't have been able to radio back to the Prydwen. The radiation impacts radio frequencies, which is why the Institute has a hard time searching the glowing sea (and don't tell me the Brotherhood has better tech than the Institute...). Assuming Sole takes a vertibird back, Sole would get back to the Prydwen long before the scribes could get there, search the location for Danse, and then fly all the way back to report in. And what if Danse got injured or something and had to go back with Sole? By the time Sole gets to the Prydwen word has already gone around about Danse's absence. How is Maxson so sure that he's missing?
Finally, 4. If looking after the bombs is such an important job, why doesn't anybody do it if you don't have Danse as a companion? Unlike in the Fort Strong quest where Danse shows up at the end whether or not he was your companion so he can give plot information, if you don't have Danse as a companion during Liberty Reprimed, he just... doesn't show up? And nobody else does his job instead, which leads me to think it's not that important of a job. Or, going a step further, that it's not actually a job at all.
You heard it here first, folks, Maxson knows that Danse went missing because Danse was never supposed to leave the Prydwen in the first place. He uses the "watching over bombs" excuse to be alone for long enough to escape, and if him and Sole don't go to the Sentinel Site together, he leaves from the Prydwen.
"But amazinglyegg", you cry, "Danse would never lie to Sole!". You're right! Danse says so himself during Blind Betrayal that the only reason he didn't tell Sole was because he didn't know. Also, I really doubt he would be as calm as he is during Liberty Reprimed if he knew about his... synthetic identity.
So, to make this clear, we know that Scribe Haylen found out about Danse being a synth before everyone else. In game this is shown by how Haylen pretends to not know Danse is missing when talking to Proctor Quinlan and then immediately telling Sole his location, and Danse's line "If it wasn't for Haylen we wouldn't be having this conversation". Also, in cut dialogue, Danse adds onto that "She's the one who tipped me off before Maxson found out". Haylen seemingly told Danse the truth and convinced him to run off to Listening Post Bravo (Danse pretends he did so because of his "survival instincts", but he also says that Haylen is "risking her life" by just being involved. It's not too far to say that he's trying to protect her from trouble by lying). Haylen knows how this will affect Danse, she knows that he'd be willing to die to follow Maxsons orders.
So she doesn't tell him. Not immediately, at least.
Haylen pulls Danse aside before him and Sole leave to the Sentinel Site and tells him to go to Listening Post Bravo. Danse, trusting Haylen and realizing that there must be something wrong, leaves without question. He knows that leaving the Prydwen is against his orders but he knows that Listening Post Bravo is supposed to be a place for his team (conversation for another day, why didn't they tell Rhys the location? Were they just planning on abandoning him??) to regroup after an emergency, he decides he doesn't want to take any risks. He lies to Sole and acts so calmly because of his "survival training" (The excuse Danse uses when covering for Haylen); he can stay calm and white lie his way out of situations in order to protect himself and his team
Then, he finds out he's a synth some time on his way or at Listening Post Bravo. Whether that's Haylen contacting him, or overhearing it over radio communications. Then the rest of Blind Betrayal plays out normally, now with just a few less plot holes...

In my time zone is officially the 19th! Congrats on one month of ylg! Can you give us some fun facts about the next installment?
thank you! you are truly in the superior timezone. (also i was about to post a request for ylg asks to hype me into working full-time on book 2 again, so you're also possibly precognitive.)
LET'S HAVE SOME VERY FUN FACTS.
we will meet walker in person
how this happens does NOT make isaac a happy camper
dana and vivienne will have an Official Pet Date with pyewacket and sunshine
megan will get their unicorn
my monster daughter will appear at last (i always seem to get attached to a minor character, huh)
a [REDACTED] that snuck out of the dreamlands will also appear as a character...
there will be a vision interstitial that breaks the fourth wall and not in a humorous way
i still don't have a title or even half an idea for the title hhhhhhh
we will meet caiomhe quinlan before we meet her husband (dante peoples, both of whom were mentioned with vague fear in book 1), but both will finally be physically present
there will be chow chow puppies
dana namedrops NaNoWriMo
there may be a certain princess familiar who appears as well
mirai will kiss people. these people will not be hatsu.
vivienne will kiss people. dana will be one of these people, repeatedly.
the finale of the book should be the warehouse, for those who have read bbac.
kirara will have A Great Plan to find christine and reunite her kittens. (this is not a great plan because she is a cat trying to human.)
thomas and lucien will meet and it will be an explosion of chemistry, but due to both of their pride, they'll both just be the "i will sit here consumed with lust" meme for most of the book.
we will get a LOT more scenes with thomas, and now some with avery, too. we're really moving into antagonist time!
speaking of, looks like team evil will be getting a couple new teammates... (one of which is lucien by association. the other is very much not lucien.)
there is the afanc scene
dana officially becomes a sword lesbian (she gets to own the vorpal sword)
christine has like seven existential crises, one of which is centered on the fact that she might be becoming cat-spirit-like
megan becomes the character who Knows The Most about the plot for a good little chunk through the power of childhood friends
one of the vision interstitials takes place at an anime convention and i really really hope people guess what hayley and viv are dressed as because it adds a lot of :3c (one of which is kind of an outright spoiler by implication lmao)

Moonlight serenade is seriously one of my most favorite stories i have read. Its such a good read! Its had action and romance and found family and accepting yourself and ahh. So much more. Its sooo good!
I read the little snippet you posted on here from obi-wan’s pov and for some reason when i read it in the original story i thought his dark eyed friend was cody but i love that it was quinlan ! 😆
Will we be seeing him again in the story?
Also (spoilers i think 🤔) is Ahsoka totally building Anakin an arm? 😭
I love that in the newest update Obi-Wan sent a telegram knstrad of a letter in response to Anakin’s love declaration, like he wanted Ani to know IMMEDIATELY his response. Ugh *clutches chest* its so romantic 😭 they are so cute. Love them. Also Padme is a saint for dealing with these two. I cannot wait for her and obi-wan to meet ( 👀 they will right? Lol)
Eeee!!!! Thank you!!!! I tried to add a variety of different themes! The action was a little difficult to write 😅
Ah yeah, it was Quinlan! I made reference at some point that Rex has a bunch of brothers all fighting in the war, and I figured that Cody would be one of them. So Quinlan it is!!!! Maybe I'll write a "how they met" drabble.
And Ahsoka's project won't be a secret for long, don't worry! But you're on the right track 🤫
Obi-Wan read the letter, re-read it, and then immediately booked it. Doing that little fast walk someone does when they want to appear like they're still in control, even though they're losing their goddamn mind. Obi-Wan hasn't stopped grinning for over a week. His fellow officers are starting to worry.
And yesss, Padmé is very patient. And they might meet, who's to say?

Um, num. 7 Aw, are you hard/wet (preferably wet because trans Anakin is life for me, but either is good if you don't like it) with whatever male partner (I'd like Quinlan, unless you don't like that) Anakin, doing things that he knows will get Anakin hard/wet and then when Anakin "confronts" that piece of dialogue happens??? You can add whatever else or delete anything else, this just oopped in ky head and I know that it's not well explained or planned
I've never written quinani before, so this was fun! I hope I did this justice, and with me not being transmasc myself, feel free to tell me if anything should be changed <3 and thank you for the prompt!!
Warning for trans Anakin, but it's pretty vague other than vaginal fingering and the terms dick/hole and also the fact that he's wet
Find my prompt list here!
"Why can't you sit still?" Anakin complains as Quinlan adjusts on the sofa, causing him to jostle Anakin on his lap. He hasn't been able to concentrate on the holo-film playing before them at all with the way Quinlan keeps moving, and if Anakin knows him, it's on purpose. And it's working too; Anakin feels warmth growing in his belly and a jolt of arousal hits him every time Quinlan's leg shifts beneath him and presses harder against where he aches, or slides his hand innocently further up Anakin's thigh.
"You're the one who's sitting in my lap," Quinlan retorts, and Anakin can hear the grin he's wearing in his voice. "I'm not doing anything, I'm just relaxing here," he says even as he hooks his chin over Anakin's shoulder and tugs him more firmly against his chest with his arm. Anakin huffs, feeling frustrated with need and not wanting to admit it to Quinlan who will be way too pleased about that. It might have been Anakin's idea to be in his boyfriend's lap in the first place, but he's still going to be stubborn about it.
"No, you know exactly what you're doing," Anakin says, more breathlessly than he means to as he tries not to rock down against Quinlan's thigh, feeling Quinlan grow hard against him.
"Tell me what I'm doing," Quinlan goads, one hand caressing up to the inside of Anakin's thigh and making him shudder.
"Quin . . ." Anakin warns, face flushing even as he grows more desperate, still embarrassed to admit what he wants and how he feels.
"Tell me what's wrong," Quinlan says again, turning his head to murmur in his ear, his hair brushing against Anakin's neck and his scruff ticklish on his skin. Anakin keeps his lips shut tight lest he let out an embarrassing whimper, and shakes his head. Quinlan immediately chuckles, low and warm and enough to make Anakin tremble, swallowing thickly as renewed warmth washes over him.
"Aw, are you wet?" Quinlan asks knowingly, in a sweet voice that makes Anakin blush nearly as hard as the words do. Anakin doesn't respond but knows he doesn't need to, knows Quinlan enjoys playing with him in this way. "You're just that easy, so of course you are," Quinlan continues. "It doesn't take much to get you all needy, huh?" He teases, as if he wasn't the one riling up Anakin in the first place. Anakin grumbles and ducks his head, trying not to show Quinlan just how flushed he is.
"It's cute, baby, don't worry," Quinlan assures him. "Always love when you're wet. Say please and maybe I'll give you what you want." Anakin bites his lip, debating with himself whether he lets himself be embarrassed and uses his words to get what he wants, or gets nothing. Quinlan reaches out and gently turns Anakin's head around to face him. Anakin tries to glare at him playfully but he can't when he's so flustered, and he's weak with the way Quinlan just grins at him like he knows exactly how to break Anakin down. Because he does.
"Please touch me?" Anakin finally asks, voice soft and still embarrassed, but it's worth it for the way Quinlan reacts.
"Mmh, okay," he says easily, leaning in to give him a quick kiss on the lips that's obnoxiously loud. "Good boy," Quinlan praises, and Anakin turns back to face the front, tilting his head back next to Quinlan's because he's already feeling overwhelmed. Quinlan runs his fingers over Anakin's crotch and Anakin's hips buck forward, making Quinlan let out another of those dark little chuckles. But Quinlan takes pity on him and stops teasing him, instead finally delving his hand inside of Anakin's pants and underwear and feeling just how wet he is.
Anakin can't help the little moans and whines that escape him as Quinlan starts rubbing over his dick, helpless to the way Quinlan always makes him feel. His fingers know exactly where to touch, know what Anakin is feeling up to for today, always know what he needs. It's maddening. Quinlan works him up until he's shaking in his lap, and then he dips his fingers down to tease around Anakin's hole. Anakin can't find the words anymore to say anything, can only frantically nod and whimper a little more loudly in assent before Quinlan is pressing one finger inside and then another.
Quinlan's fingers curl against his sweet spot with ease as he immediately starts thrusting into him nice and easy, a filthy slick sound coming from them and making Anakin's ears flame up. Quinlan's other hand moves down to touch his dick again while his arm rests across Anakin's body, holding him down as Anakin writhes with pleasure, tears already springing to his eyes. "That's it," Quinlan murmurs hotly into his ear, "always so good at taking it." Anakin's eyes squeeze shut, gritting his teeth as the fire bubbles higher and builds and builds.
"So tight, so wet—so good, that's a good boy," Quinlan continues, his fingers moving faster, and that's enough already. Anakin cries out as pleasure crashes over him, clenching around Quinlan's fingers as his dick throbs, everything feeling achingly good. Quinlan works him through it with his fingers until he comes down, until he's left panting and weak-limbed and Quinlan finally takes his fingers away. Out of the corner of his eye he sees Quinlan take his own fingers that are covered in Anakin's come into his mouth and licks them off, sending aftershocks though Anakin's body.
"I always make the teasing worth it," Quinlan says confidently when he takes the fingers out of his mouth with relish, and Anakin finds that he can't disagree.

C, D, I, L and M for star wars if that’s ok! :)
C - A ship you have never liked and probably never will.
Honestly I've just never been the target audience for f/f pairings, so stuff like Barrisoka probably? Totally cool, just not my wheelhouse.
Edit: I just remember Asajj ships exist and also ObiMaul! Iyam also not the target audience for those, although the latter is extremely funny because I like them separately and with other people, I just can't get it to click in my brain.
D - A pairing you wish you liked but just can’t.
Oh that's a tough one. Uhhhhh. Oh! Ships with Quinlan are often something I've never really connected with. I don't know the guy besides I think that one episode (arc?) with Ziro the Hutt, but I swear everything with him in it doesn't really give him a personality besides "dude who probably smokes weed and flirts" and like. Who am I to say "flesh out that minor character in your fanfictions that are for fun and neither homework nor profit" but I still can't be bothered because I have no emotional connection to him even as a jumping off point. (And that's ignoring that I think everything I've ever seen about him in Legends suffers from being, you know, A Star War, so I just accept him as a one-off character I barely remember in a TV show I don't even really like.)
Edit: Per the last question's edit: I wish I could get into ObiMaul because I have a couple friends who are into it and there's a bunch of really interesting content for it, my brain just doesn't vibe.
I - Has Tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why?
Yeah I used to be into Teen Wolf on another blog, er, many years ago now, but there were some assholes who were assholes to a friend of mine and that ended up turning me off the fandom. Also I was very into Voltron after the first couple seasons dropped—dark times, I know—but, well. I think we all know how that went. I actually never got more than a couple (or maybe just one?) episodes into I think season 3 (whichever one introduced the Galra twink??) and then after that it um. Was all just terrible, so I cut my losses. I was also into Fantastic Beasts (Despite The Warning Signs) after the first movie dropped and then dipped after Assholes Being Assholes, but that was on discord more than tumblr. Other than that, I donut recall.
L - Say something genuinely nice about a character who isn’t one of your faves. (Characters you’re neutral about are fair game, as are characters you merely dislike. Characters that you absolutely loathe with the fire of ten thousand suns are exempt, as there is no point in giving yourself an aneurysm over a character that you hate.)
Ahsoka is a good addition to the Star Wars mythos, actually. (Same for all the other survivors of the Jedi Purge that continuously pop up because, you know, that's literally how it goes with genocides.) She creates more layers of intergenerational trauma to the Disaster Lineage, helps contextualize where the Jedi we know and the Order as a whole are mentally and emotionally by the end of the war as compared to the start, adds yet another facet of inevitable fucking tragedy to Anakin's dark side-fueled break with reality, has a cool character design, and becomes an intriguing and engaging character in her own right. She's a valuable and worthwhile addition and I appreciate her creation and inclusion.
M - Name a character that you’d like to have for a friend.
Every single person in the Star Wars universe is a disaster and a half who's probably committed crimes against humanity in the background (or foreground!) of at least one Clone Wars arc. They all need incredible amounts of therapy and couldn't maintain a healthy relationship if their lives literally depended on it, and sometimes they literally do and thus my point is proven.
........Darth Maul.

I get my book tomorrow!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well, Canada Post is saying I should. So, fingers crossed.
Now, just a reminder, I will be giving thoughts on the book as I read(I won't post anything not already publicly posted until Tuesday, release day, though). Every single post I make will consist of three ways to protect you from spoilers.
HoFaS appropriate Tags
Spoilers kept beneath a 'Keep Reading' button
A photo clearly stated that it is a spoiler post(similar/slightly different to the left side of the image above).
Tumblr media
Now, what I did not include in the image above is that, along with the tags listed, I will also include tags of the characters involved in the scene. But I won't include the characters if they are not in the scene, because there's too many and I'm going to forget one, I'm sure of it.
So, if Ruhn is in a scene, I will tag "#Ruhn Danaan." The next post, if the scene has Ithan and no Ruhn, than I will NOT tag Ruhn, given he isn't in the scene, but I WILL tag "#Ithan Holstrom."
Character tags will be in addition to the permanent constant hofas tag list. The ONLY permanent character tags are Bryce and Hunt, as they are the two 'main' characters of this series. Sarah has said that this is their story.
As for Ship tags, Quinlar will be the ONLY ship tag I will include so as not to accidentally spoil anything in the tags. "But what if Ruhn and Lidia are in a scene together in a romantic way?!" Then I will add the tags "#Ruhn Danaan #Lidia Cervos" to that post. People may assume, but I will not blatantly accidentally spoil.
So, as stated in the image above, the tags I will use on each post are,
HOFAS
HOFAS Spoilers
House of Flame and Shadow
House of Flame and Shadow Spoilers
Bryce Quinlan
Hunt Athalar
Quinlar
Sarah J Mass
SJM Spoilers
Again, I get my book tomorrow. But I will not post until Tuesday, official release day.
I'm not going to include ANY ACOTAR tags. Just because there are people out there who have JUST started reading Sarah's books, and are still on ACOTAR, or still in early Crescent City.
Some people may disagree with me, but this is how I'm going to do it. I don't want to spoil the cross over for people who don't know about it yet.
I have a friend who has not finished hosab yet and he has dodged the ending spoilers so well so far. My cousin is just starting to read Sarah's books.
So no. I am not going to include ANY acotar character tags. I will talk about them in reaction posts, but I am not going to put them in the tags.
Please understand, or try to. Thank you.

Delightful Dingle
I know I'm moving like a sloth getting these posts up, and I can't even promise that they'll be worth it. Still, aren't they better than me droning on about my gardens or another recipe? Besides, I have something on a back burner that just might turn things around on the ol' blog. I might be making some life changes. MIGHT. Not counting any chickens before they hatch, but I'm a little bit excited. More on that later. For now, let's talk about Dingle! Dingle. It's fun to say and even more fun to visit. Of all of the castles, incredible views, ancient sites, and islands frozen in time - our day in Dingle was my favorite. The mister and I vacation differently. He is happiest when hiking up to a scenic vista, capturing an incredible snap of a cliff, tree, waterfall (oh, how he loves a waterfall), or meadow. I also love nature in all her glory, but I can get a lot of that at home. When I visit a foreign country I want to talk to people, find out what they do, what they eat, what's playing on the radio, how they spend their time. I absolutely love striking up a conversation with a stranger and getting a taste of normal life in wherever I might be. I was able to do that with a wonderful gentleman and artist in Waterville -Leo Quinlan, retired Irish Army major. He was a cadet sent by Ireland to JFK's funeral, now he paints. You can find him on Instagram! lqart.ie
Anyway, that's what I do. I will talk to people in shops, cafes, public restrooms, train stations, you name it. I don't think I've ever received more delightful responses than I did in Ireland. The warmth and openness of the people we met was exceptional. There's a reason that you see "Cead mile failte" posted near practically every door. It's Gaelic for "100,000 welcomes". They actually mean it. Our visit to Dingle was a chance for me to talk and talk and talk to locals. It was also a chance for me to take my fingernails out of the dashboard. You see, much of what you want to see in Ireland is found along "The Wild Atlantic Way". A little two lane road, much of it perched cliffside with the Atlantic crashing against rocks below. We didn't drive the whole thing, it's something like 1600 miles, winding along the west coast of Ireland. We did enough of it. I have very few pictures and no video because I was too busy hyperventilating. Here's a taste.
youtube
My blood pressure goes up just watching that. Flashbacks. I know that Mickey is capable driver. I don't know if anyone else is. Factor in that he was driving from the right side of the car and on the left side of the road and I get jittery. In my defense, I was once a passenger in a van (driven by a high school drivers ed teacher) that rolled off the side of a mountain. I lived to tell the tale, but I've never forgotten the sensation of tipping over the edge. It was all because the driver was distracted, so when I'm in the passenger seat and I see Mickey's eyes darting all over framing photos in his mind, I get nervous. I probably should have dealt with that bit of PTSD decades ago, but you can just add that to the long list of things that make me weird interesting. I do feel sorry for Mickey when I'm along, because he loves a good, twisty drive. We've been on too many. And I did enjoy some of the views (when I opened my eyes). This was at a lower elevation, almost to Dingle.
Tumblr media
That was a long-winded way of explaining why a day spent walking around a beautiful town and talking to friendly people was so welcome. Dingle was an oasis in the desert for me. Hello, Dingle!
Tumblr media
Its a lovely seaside town with a very artsy vibe. There were lots of pubs and restaurants, plenty of pretty boutiques, art galleries, gift shops, book stores, and ice cream shops. Apparently, Dingle is semi-famous for their ice cream. There's also a statue near the harbor dedicated to Fungie, a local dolphin whose antics delighted fishermen and tourists. He sought out human contact and chose to live alone in the waters near Dingle, enjoying his interactions, rather than join a pod. He was first spotted in 1983 and is believed to have died in 2020. His legend lives on.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Everything about this sweet town was fun. I don't blame Fungie for staying.
I sent the mister off to snap photos and I roamed up and down the streets. Murphy's was the most popular ice cream spot.
Tumblr media
We also ate lunch at Murphy's Pub. I'm seeing a pattern.
Tumblr media
One of my favorite stops was this little shop.
Tumblr media
Do you see what I see inside the shop, just past the painted cat?
Tumblr media
Of course I had to go inside and pet her. She was a bit chunkier than when her portrait was painted. Bless her fluffy heart, I understand.
I walked and walked...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
popping in and out of shops and talking to everyone. It was so much fun. Little chats, interesting tidbits, not a stranger in sight. I felt that I was actually experiencing Ireland. Not just the many, many beautiful sights, but the heartbeat of the country - her wonderful people! I had so many little sacks with me when I finally met Mickey for a late lunch, I had scattered my money in every corner of town. Irish linen sachets filled with Irish lavender, tea towels decorated with happy Irish sheep, a fascinating book on the potato famine from a charming book store, a beautiful print from a gallery, two very pretty coffee mugs for two coffee lovers I know, and even a wedge of cheese from this little shop.
Tumblr media
We enjoyed a wedge of Wilma's Gouda. Wilma O'Connor is a Dutch woman who married an Irish fellow, and in the 1980's began making the gouda of her homeland with Irish cow's milk. It was a hit and Wilma is now famous. Tasty cheese, well-deserved fame. Bonus points for the sign in English. I knew what I was getting before I walked in. Most shops had signs I couldn't read, if the window display didn't provide enough clues, I had to go inside, right?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That's my story and I'm sticking to it. By entering every shop I experienced everything from local pottery to a tobacco shop that smelled like my Grandpa Holtz. Even better, each shop had a friendly face inside just waiting to chat with me. Delightful. I really loved Dingle.
I met up with this guy for a bite.
Tumblr media
Then I suggested we walk off our late lunch (I wasn't ready to leave!) and before we strolled back to the harbor where our car was parked.
Tumblr media
For the mister that also meant a stop at Murphy's for ice cream. So yes, we saw amazing castles, we visited the Hill of Tara where Irish kings have ruled for centuries, we saw natural and manmade beauty around every corner. But my day in Dingle, talking and laughing with the warm and wonderful folks of a colorful, happy town - best day of all! That said, there's more to come. I swear I'll wrap this up. I'll be back to talk about more castles, ancient sites, and snails...so many snails. Until tomorrow, stay safe, stay well. XOXO, Nancy

Weird Fictive BS
So I am a fictive heavy system. All of my headmates are fictives that basically form bits of my personality that failed to form or don't function normally due to me being raised in a cult as a child and now I don't emotion normally. It's sort of like I have a giant mini van and whenever my core self doesn't know how to handle a situation it's a Jesus take the wheel moment, only instead of Jesus it's American Dragon Jake Long take the wheel or Orochimaru take the wheel.
I have a lot of fictives. the Full list is here:
Comes out the MOst
- Sephiroth - Jason Todd - Shatterstar - Adam X - Boba Fett - Darth Maul - Orochimaru Fairly Prevalent - Deidara - Vigilante - Longshot - Gambit (Remy LeBeau) - Gene Belcher - Greed - Jake Long Medium Level - Gajeel Redfox - Zack Fair - Wolverine (exclusively old man Logan version) - Solf J. Kimblee - Akihiro - Hiro Hamada - Sokka - Anakin Skywalker - Jaskier Minor - Murtagh - Tulio - Hal Jordan - Coran - Jack Harkness - Quinlan Vos - Klaus Hargreeves - Diego Hargreeves - Graverobber (Repo!) - Iron Man - Boromir - Guy Gardner - JD
Please don't judge me. I know I have some problematic ones, and I know there are a lot, but I had a fucked up childhood, and I still add fictives to the system sometimes, and by add, I mean they just appear when my trauma decides they do. I am a trauma created system, but I love all systems! You are all my siblings in systemhood!

Could Aidas, or perhaps one of his brothers, be the House of Wind's cat-like darkness? A crack theory
Please don't screenshot or share this post without credit.
Disclaimer: I've only read CC once, and then only recently, so please forgive any glaring inaccuracies in this crack pet theory of mine, about a hypothetical CC and ACOTAR crossover in ACOSF. I apologise if this theory already exists, I haven't explored the CC tags at all yet. 💜
Spoiler warning: contains plot spoilers for ACOTAR, CC and TOG series, ie. all of SJM's works to date (September 2021).
I know I'm not the only one who picked up on all of the 'the darkness in the library is a cat' references in ACOSF, and I had wondered about them a little, but until I read Crescent City last month, I didn't have many thoughts beyond the darkness potentially being multiple entities, and not just the heart of the House of Wind; maybe Koschei’s shadows were there, too, or some remnant of Bryaxis? However, when I finally got around to reading CC (thanks to @sciencebaetch and @rminnieola for getting on my case), and had a couple of weeks to digest everything, it struck me that there were some potentially significant parallels between the two books.
Given this is a crack theory, there will be a few unanswered questions included, as well as points to take away and mull over. If you have anything to add, please feel free!
Thank you to @rhyssescups for fact-checking this before I posted it.
What do we know about Aidas?
Aidas is the handsome, blonde haired, and opal-blue eyed demon Prince of the Chasm, also known as the fifth level of Hel. He "yields" only to two brothers, the Prince of the Abyss (the sixth level), and the Prince of the Pit (the seventh level of Hel).
Tumblr media
When he enters Midgard's universe without being summoned, he uses the form of an equally blue eyed white cat. We have already had a TOG crossover with ACOTAR (the red star), so what if the Hel realm that is linked to Midgard is also connected to Prythian's world? Elain once uttered "I hope they all burn in Hell," about the Mortal Queens, so it appears that Hel/Hell is a common theme between the two universes.
Tumblr media
Are the Levels of the library a metaphor for the circles of hell?
The following is certainly not a new idea - I've discussed it with plenty of others in the fandom - but the levels of the library could, hypothetically, be a metaphor for the circles of Hell; the library is even circular in design. There are seven levels that we know of, though - correct me if I'm wrong - we don't learn the exact number of floors in the library before you reach the pit in which Bryaxis lived. For all we know, the "pit" could have been the ninth level. Considering that, and the attributes of the library's levels, when thinking about the levels of Hel we learnt about in CC, opens up some new theorising opportunities.
How is Aidas - or one of his brothers - hypothetically linked to the library?
Nesta told us that the shadows started to get darker from the fifth level of the library, and that, occasionally, the darkness appears to come alive. Some of this is the Heart of the House, of course, but what if some of the darkness is Other? I can't shake the feeling that the darkness we learnt of in the House of Wind isn't as simple as a Made house.
Tumblr media
Nesta also said, a few times, that the darkness was like a curious cat; this was frequently associated with either the fifth floor - or circle - of the library, or the number five, such as when Gwyn instructed Nesta to take five breaths, before Nesta considered letting her thoughts drift "deeper."
Tumblr media
Aidas, as we all know, has a cat form, and has previously shown kindness to a young Bryce Quinlan when she was in distress after her visit to the Oracle. Could he also be monitoring the library under the House of Wind? Nesta and Bryce also both had/have an eight pointed star tattooed on their bodies. And, just like Aidas with Bryce, the darkness knew Nesta's name.
Tumblr media
Note that, below, Aidas mentions "true dark," which sounds akin to the "true darkness" of the lower levels of the library, which Nesta mentioned in ACOSF.
Tumblr media
But Bryce's question stands… "What sort of cat visits an Oracle?" Was Aidas even visiting the Oracle that day? The Oracle is right next to Luna's Temple (see map below), and Luna could - hypothetically, of course - be the Midgard version of the Mother Goddess.
Also, what are the plans that Aidas mentioned?
Tumblr media
Map from CC ebook, Kindle edition
What if it's the Prince of the Pit who is monitoring the library, not Aidas?
While Aidas seems like the obvious option - and he still may be! - the very bottom of the library under the House of Wind is referred to as "a pit" multiple times. This, understandably, calls to mind Aidas' most senior brother: the Prince of the Pit.
Tumblr media
Nesta is also associated with "pit" imagery throughout her story in ACOSF, both figurative and literal.
Tumblr media
"The pit of Creation" (inside the Cauldron) sounds like "The heart of the world, of existence. Of self." This tracks, given Nesta was Made in the Cauldron, and she also Made the House of Wind. She also found the Mask, another Made item, in the "bottomless pit" of the water in the Bog of Oorid.
Both the Cauldron and the Bog of Oorid could be considered hellish places, and the Heart of the House? What if it holds a crack - a rift - through which the Prince of the Pit could squeeze in cat form, or as the essence of a cat, to help monitor the library? The darkness was described as "twining" down through the library with Nesta, to the seventh level - and any cat person can attest that cats absolutely like to twine (through legs, plants, priceless antiques)… but why would any Prince of Hel be there, in Prythian?
What if Aidas - or the Prince of the Pit - is monitoring Jesiba's library, the Great Library of Parthos?
The Great Library of Parthos is an almost mythical, and certainly legendary, collection of books from Midgard, that pre-dates Asteri and Vanir occupation of their world. It exists to bear witness to the life and creation of the humans who once lived there, to prove that they do not owe all they are now to their magical overlords. However, after its discovery at Griffin Antiquities, where it appeared to contain a volume called The Book of Breathings,(suspicious, no?) it - unsurprisingly - went missing again. Is it currently veiled in shadows as thick as a layer of fog, at the very bottom of the library?
Is that why Bryaxis was there, as a guard dog? He was frightening enough to scare a battle-hardened Cassian, and we still have no known reason for his residence in the base of the library... could he have been sent through a rift, from the Chasm or the Pit? Forgive the Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone reference, but is Bryaxis the Prythian 'Fluffy?
Tumblr media
This above text is what suggests, in my opinion, that the Prince of the Pit is the more likely candidate, even without the "pit" imagery in ACOSF. Aidas, at least at this point in time (the CC epilogue), is unaware of the location of the Great Library of Parthos - though I'd love to ask him a question or two about The Book of Breathings. Unless ACOSF occurs after CC1 - or the timelines are more... wibbly wobbly - then Jesiba has potentially had the Prince of the Pit hide the books for her (and all of humanity). Alternatively, could the cracking Cauldron have become some sort of rift, and The Book of Breathings fell into Midgard after Feyre threw it into the Cauldron in ACOWAR? Furthermore, the beckoning dark of the pit, "like it was an entry into some dark pit of hell," sounds eerily like the dark that beckoned Aidas home to Hel, at the end of CC's epilogue. But I digress.
Jesiba Roga is a witch who is associated with the Under King, the head of the Bone Quarter of Lunathion, where souls travel to spend eternity after death. She had amassed a collection of priceless antiquities, including the aforementioned Great Library of Parthos, which the Asteri wanted destroyed, as it contained books that predated the Asteri/Vanir occupation of Midgard.
But what if it contained more?
Nesta - and Emerie and Gwyn - could potentially need to use those books to figure out either how to kill Koschei, or where to send him, potentially banishing him from their world, like Aelin did the deities of Erilea, if they are unable to truly kill him.
Take away thoughts and questions
ACOTAR
The Lady Death being associated/friends with a prince of Hel is a story I'd love to read.
The eight pointed star may be superficially associated with Dusk, but I think it could be something more, that hints at the origins of the Asteri, and potentially the deity figures in Prythian.
Is Koschei an Asteri, the Prince of the Pit, or something similar, and are they related in any way to the Valg from Throne of Glass?
What, exactly, is the darkness in the library? Is it just the one entity, or a combination of many?
Is Bryaxis a monster from the Seventh Level of Hel? Or is he the Prince of the Chasm, or the Pit, himself?
Why was The Book of Breathings in Midgard?!
Crescent City
If this is a case of a crossover between ACOTAR and CC's worlds, is it Aidas or the Seventh Hel prince who is monitoring the Library? Or both?
Why does a cat visit an Oracle? Will we ever find out?
Where is the Great Library of Parthos now?
What are the plans that Aidas mentioned? Are he and his brothers, the princes of the Abyss and the Pit, planning to get involved in overthrowing the Asteri? (I hope so).
How does Jesiba know Aidas, and does she know his more senior brothers? If the books are hidden in the library under the House of Wind, did she ask them the favour herself, or did the Under King put in the request?
Who in the Hel was Hunt's father? One of Aidas' brothers? An Asteri? (Unrelated, but it's been annoying me ever since Jesiba and Aidas spoke about it).
Throne of Glass
How does this link with the library guarding Baast cats from the Torre Cesme in TOD? Cats that can - if some healers are to be believed - walk through pools of shadow and reappear around the library! Cats with "beryl" eyes (an aquamarine that sounds a lot like Aidas' opal blue). That's another post, if I ever get the time.
If you enjoyed this, please consider reblogging. 💜

Oh god ! That ask about Anakin willing to do anything to save Obi-Wan even kneeling in front of a hutt really broke my heart ! How come no one wrote a fic about it just to have insight on what was going on in their heads ? Anyway I was wondering since Obi didn’t really understand the whole thing…how he would find out that Anakin literally gave up his freedom to save him ?
Like he would be writing the report and struggle with the hutt langage part so he would ask for help (but not to Anakin bc he needed to rest). He goes to Quinlan and while they talk Obi-Wan says that it surprised him that Anakin would gave up up without his usual fighting spirit and Quinlan looks over the report and be like « well that part just before they put a collar on him means that Gardulla basically said that they would make you suffer the life of a thousand slaves if he didn’t submit … but honestly just seeing you in a collar might have trigger some PTSD reactions so yeah I’m not that surprised ». And Obi-Wan be like ah.
I love the soft moments you wrote for them Clem 💯
thank you💖 I'm trying to go back to all these AUs now that I have a bit more time, I missed them a lot!
Obi-Wan might not have understood the situation to its full extent, but he probably understood what Anakin was doing when he fell to his knees silent. But you know what I realised in the Jedi but enemies AU? Obi-Wan wasn't Anakin's master, so there is a chance that he doesn't know that Anakin used to be a slave.
So Quinlan will say something like "she also said that she hoped he would be more useful than when he was a kid, apparently? And... made some heavy suggestions about where his pretty face could get him if he wasn't. Yikes. No wonder Skywalker is so messed up." and Obi-Wan is like "I'm sorry, what did you say about him as a child?" "Yeah, Gradulla probably owned him since he was born." and Obi-Wan just blinks at him for way too long before Quinlan adds "so I'm guessing you didn't know that." "How would I KNOW this, QUINLAN." "Wow, okay, I don't know, didn't Qui-Gon—" Qui-Gon has never been voluntarily helpful a day in his LIFE." "You're putting too much stress on certain words and it's strangely concerning." "Other THINGS are way more concerning right NOW."

hi! i remember reading in one of the ast end notes that you weren’t the biggest fan of the clone wars animated series. admittedly, i’m new to star wars, but i’m watching it now, and i’m wondering why? you don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to. also if i misinterpreted, i apologize! thank you!
howdy! thanks for your question! I'm sorry for how unhinged I'm gonna sound in response! Vague TCW spoilers below, everybody.
It is not, exactly, that I don't like The Clone Wars. Parts of the show are absolutely fantastic! (The Umbara Arc? Ahsoka's personal growth? How interesting is to watch Anakin -- and by extension the Republic -- dance closer and closer to becoming Vader/the Empire even in their victories? Fleshing out the clones as individual men, who even though they look the same have wildly different personalities and motives and feelings about the situation they've found themselves in? Captain Rex, in all his grief and glory?) And honestly, I thought the showrunners did a really good, clever job taking the premise of The Clone Wars -- a kids' show -- and using it as a platform to tackle really tough concepts in a way that doesn’t, imo, talk down to or assume that the viewer can’t understand what’s going on.
But there are also parts of it that I hate so much -- with such passion! -- that The Clone Wars is basically a net zero media experience for me, lmao. Namely any time Dave Filoni talks about the Force -- most notably the Mortis Arc and most of Season 6 -- I am in such virulent, fundamental, foaming-at-the-mouth disagreement that sometimes I do sit bolt up right in outrage, a full decade and some change later. (This is also my issue with Rebels. I adored it until like the last three episodes, which I hated so much that when I got a free Purgill sticker as part of a Kickstarter I'd backed, I had to put the entire package aside for two days to calm down.)
I also don't care much for Filoni's interpretation of "real Mandalorians" (having Prime Minister Whosit go "we don't know how Jango Fett got his armor, but he wasn't a real Mandalorian" and then cut like, immediately to the "real Mandalorians," who up until Bo-Katan pops up in a later Death Watch arc are shown, to a man, woman and child, as exclusively blond, blue-eyed white humans, was beyond outrageous, for me) nor for the show's habit of taking some of my most beloved EU/Legends characters and absolutely butchering their personalities. I also (and this is a Me thing, not Filoni's fault, lmao) utterly despise Yoda, and resent literally every single second I am forced to spend in his presence.
(As you can imagine, The Last Jedi did make me howl in inarticulate rage.)
All that said, there are parts of the show that I do love very much!! And it really does give us Ahsoka, who is one of my all-time favorite Star Wars characters. It makes Anakin/Padmé more believable as well, and adds a lot of depth to individual Jedi and the Jedi Order as a whole. Darth Maul is hysterical and I love him.
I will eventually, probably, theoretically, forgive Filoni for what the show did to Quinlan Vos. Theoretically.
