What would your predictions for the next book be?
Hello Anon,
My prediction is that there will be the birth of aggressive Tamlain shippers that will make me want to throw up. Gwynriels will finally have some peace and will start enjoying their content.
Ok on a more serious note ... predictions will be
1. It is Azriel's book shared by Gywn - Logic dictates it will be his book. The plot lines will be Autumn and Illyria. I do think Nesta will be vital to the book as well.
2. Emorie sub plot romance - I am looking forward to that as well.
3. Some set up for Elain and Elucien maybe even a bonus chapter.
4. This is more a crack theory so far but I am guessing Nesta or Az will join the world walkers club.
I know these are very basic dot points ... I promise to make more detailed posts later , I am really short on time at the moment but I wanted to answer these 🤗.
Also, I will be tagging this Elucien since it does include details about Elucien ( I don't care about what any owl thinks about it )

The Future Betrayer of ACOTAR
*I already know this is going to definitely make people mad, but be kind y’all, this character isn’t you and has no reflection on who you are as a person*
The Hint of a Future Betrayal:
Tumblr media
In ACOSF, we get this quote from Briallyn (who was working very closely with Koschei) that they are aware that there are members in the night court that can be persuaded to help them with the right motivation.
The Right Incentive and Motive
Like any crime and suspects, we must look at who has motive and who is desperate enough to commit said crime. That being said: who has been hinted since ACOWAR to want something very desperately to the point of delusion? I favor Elain and here is why I think so:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here are three separate occasions across two books that we have Elains storyline heavily showing her desires and wishes to be human. To the point where she followed something into enemy camp away from her loved ones because she was that desperate to be human again. That is definitely foreshadowing especially when we see it across two books and with what we learn in ACOSF in regard to Elain.
The Evidence in Elain’s Storyline in ACOSF
The next part of placing a suspect is gathering the evidence to suggest your suspect is guilty and ACOSF has pretty good evidence.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Above is only one instance (had to cut out the others bc tumblr does like more than 10 photos per post), but there are multiple instances showing that Elain and Elains storyline is suspect. Like Elain is noticeably absent from the pages in ACOSF which was shocking in and of itself, but what’s even more shocking is that the scenes we do get show us she is sneaking around/lying/and not acting as she normally does (and p.s. we know Azriel isn’t the one teaching her to be sneaky since from his own thoughts we know he hadn’t been alone with her since ACOFAS). This all is just very suspicious.
So who is she working for/sneaking around to?
Tumblr media
We get this from ACOSF that Koschei is doing anything he can to free himself and even further drives the point that Koschei knows he can manipulate someone in the IC. So it is reasonable to theorize given everything we know from above that Elain may be influenced to help Koschei under the delusion that he can help her be human again.
To Conclude,
Maybe all of this is just a coincidence. Maybe it is nothing at all. Or maybe it’s everything. I’ll leave you with two last photos that further drive the connection between Elain and Koschei with this line in ACOWAR of Elains mind and this picture saved from SJMs deleted pinterest.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Surely looks to me like SJM was trying to paint a picture of who’s entangled with Elains story and specifically her mind and with all we know from ACOSF, it’s not hard to believe that Elain is going to have a part in freeing koschei with the promise of being human again.
I am once again rewriting to implore you to remember that this is just a theory that I believe is very sound based on everything I posted above with textual evidence and SJMs pinterest. It does not mean I think Elain or people who relate to Elain are evil and underserving of good things. If you cannot debate like you are a human capable of empathy, please see yourself away from my page.

Eris has to be Gwyn’s grandfather! Why would SJM write all this for nothing?
That comment from Eris:
Eris glared. “Not as far as the firstborn, but yes, Rhysand.”
That comment from Gwyn:
My grandmother was a river-nymph who seduced a High Fae male from the Autumn Court.
Feyre meeting Eris, her flame recognising his (ACOWAR):
I felt it then—stirring awake as if some stick had poked it. As if being here, in this territory, amongst its blooded royals, had somehow sparked it to life, boiling past that poison.
Nesta meeting Gwyn, her power recognising her (unknown) flames:
A crackling sort of energy buzzed around her, and Nesta’s power grumbled in answer.
(How Feyre described her rising Autumn court flames - My blood heated, and I took a breath to cool it, to cool the magic crackling at the insult.”
Eris talking about the Made dagger - Eris sucked in a breath. Feyre said, “You can sense its power.”
“There’s flame in it,” Eris said, not touching the dagger.)
We learn Lucien (and Eris) have a last name in ACOWAR:
Feyre - “Vanserra?”
Cassian - “You never knew his family name?”
When Gwyn tells Nesta her full name:
Unusual, for these Fae to use family names.
Eris to Cassian:
“Get that pitying look off your face,” Eris snarled softly. “I know what sort of creature my father is. I don’t need your sympathy.”
Gwyn to Nesta:
Gwyn marked the change. “I don’t need your pity.” The words were sharp, as clear as her teal eyes.
Eris and Gwyn can both scent people like smokehounds apparently:
Eris sniffed the night breeze. Then smiled. “She couldn’t be bothered to come inside to say hello?”
How he’d detected Mor’s lingering scent, Cassian didn’t know. Perhaps Eris and his smokehounds had more in common than he realised.
(Nesta) “How can you tell?” With their hoods on, they appeared nearly identical save for their hands.
“Their scents,” Gwyn said simply, and turned to the books she’d left on the cart.
Characteristics and Mannerism:
Towering over me (Feyre talking about Eris)
Her full height, which was slightly taller than average for Fae females (Nesta meeting Gwyn)
His red hair glinting like fire
(Her) hair shining like molten metal
His hair shone like embers in the dappled light.
Faelight danced in the rich coppery chestnut of her pin-straight hair
Eris’s face filled with cool amusement.
The priestess’s eyes glittered with amusement.
Eris snorted.
Gwyn snorted.
But Eris shrugged a shoulder.
But Gwyn shrugged.
Earning a withering glare from Eris.
Gwyn threw Azriel a withering stare as she strode past him.
He was not graceful like Eris.
As graceful as Gwyn had been.
Eris reached out a long, slender hand, letting the falling petals gather there.
With her slender, elegant limbs.
How did Eris know that?
Gwyn said, those teal eyes noticing too much.
(Eris) Was willing to be tortured to keep their secrets.
Gwyn went through her own torture to protect the children at the temple.
But though Eris’s angular features were handsome, no light shone in his eyes. No joy.
The priestess had been pretty in the library, but with that joy, that confidence as she aimed for the three priestesses, she had emerged into a beauty to rival Merrill or Mor.

Seeing a lot of discourse about Azriel v Lucien in a blood duel and who would destroy whose ass. (Not sexually unfortunately)
I’m lowkey torn … but leaning toward Azriel (?) Who do you guys think would win if the blood duel hypothetically did happen?

People Overreacting to Azriel’s POV Chapter in ACOSF.
I just finished ACOSF about a week ago, and then I found out about the Azriel bonus POV chapter. Full disclosure, Azriel is my favourite character of the series, and I have fallen into reddit rabbit holes on people’s takes. We’re going through point by point on why people think he’s an asshole/gross and explaining why he’s not.
- Lets get this out of the way, most people in this world have sexual wants and needs in the privacy of their own mind and home. As long as it doesn’t get anywhere near illegal, and doesn't affect the world around them, that is fine. Az is allowed to have sexual desires. It does not make him a bad person (or Fae in this case)
- He is jealous of his brothers because they have found the people they will spend their lives with, and he is just him. Again, jealousy is a normal feeling as long as it doesn’t cause anyone else harm.
-Az and Elain got each other gifts, and as far as we are aware, she did not get one for Lucien.
-WHILE WE ARE HERE: LUCIEN IS MATED TO ELAIN, BUT ELAIN IS NOT MATED TO LUCIEN. She does NOT have to reciprocate his feelings, give him attention, or even enjoy his company. I love his character too, but people need to remember the mating is seemingly (as of right now) one sided.
- Elain knows Azriel is attracted to her and doesn’t recoil or avoid him like she does Lucien.
- She asks Az to put the necklace on her. And I’m sorry, but that is romantic AF and a super tender moment between the two. She invites him closer and asks him to help her wear the gift he got her.
-Elain shivers at his touch, which can also be seen as her desire towards him. It’s a romantic fantasy, Feyre has also shivered at the gentle touch of Rhys. This is a normal reaction, especially if your sexual desire/drive is heating up towards someone.
- Again, this whole scene with the necklace is supposed to be romantic with sexual undertones. He’s getting aroused by being near someone he has feelings for, and based on her reactions, she’s feeling the same. Again, romantic fantasy with spicy scenes. Az sexually aroused. The difference here is with people with a penis, when they are aroused it shows. Elain’s actions/reactions suggest she may be too (the shivering) but as people who don’t have a penis really don’t have identifying signs of arousal, her’s is more hidden.
- This isn’t even the most crude thing SJM has written towards arousal. Cassian and Nesta were horndogs their whole book but no one cared.
- We’re human, most of us have wondered what sex with someone we’re attracted to would be like. Again, normal. Again, spicy romantic fantasy.
-Elain is biting her lower lip, another sign of sexual arousal, she also is free to leave but chooses not to.
- HE CAN SENSE HER AROUSAL
- Again, she shudders, same as shivers at his touch. The chapter says she’s so close to him that one breath would have her pressed up against him. She looks up at him hopeful and trusting. SHE WANTS HIM TO KISS HER.
- SHE IS INTO THIS INTERACTION
- When he holds her and goes in to kiss her, again, spicy romance, hair holding is spicy, she parts her mouth and her eyes fluttered shut, fluttered in the sense of consensual romance is flirty. This interaction is CONSENSUAL.
- Rhys ruins everything.
- When Az says the whole thing is a mistake she looks hurt and confused. She thought he wanted the interaction too. She apologizes because she thought she misread the situation.
- He takes responsibility for the whole thing
- The Caudron is their creator, Az is questioning faith and fate not claiming ownership in anyway. Same with the three sisters for three brothers. He’s questioning their worlds driving force.
-Sidenote: I write, I write a lot. From a writers perspective, yeah Azriel and Elain plot wise makes much more sense than Az and Gwyn or Lucien and Elain. Is it basic and predictable? Yup. Does that make it bad? Not at all. Anyway...
- Rhys is the one suggesting Az thinks he deserves her, is his answer great, no, but Lucien definitely thinks he deserves Elain so why don’t people think that is wrong?
- Running into Gwyn when he leaves and their little back and forth was cute and I don’t mind them together, more on this later.
- The necklace. I hate that thing. Az drops it off to Clotho and after saying give it to Gwyn, and not to say it’s from him, he does say, “If there is another priestess here who might appreciate it, give it to them. But I am not taking that necklace with me when I leave.”
- It sounds more like he just wants to see someone happy to have it and not having that awkward, embarrassing moment returning it to the store and Gwyn came to mind. If it fair to Gwyn? Absolutely not! Is it fair to Elain? No! It would feel awful for both of those women to know about the whole situation.
EDIT
- Clotho has a lot of time to give that necklace to Gwyn and doesn't. Why? Perhaps she knows what he's doing is a dick move. Perhaps she knows his heart truly lies Elain. Perhaps she is waiting for his heart to understand it lies with Gwyn. The point is, she still has it.
- maybe Clotho is rocking the necklace (lol)
- His final thoughts on her being happy and something sparking in his chest DO suggest something between the two but honestly I don’t see how their relationship would send the plot forward.
Final thoughts:
On Elain: At the end of the day, Azriel is an idiot, and that is what this bonus chapter proves. He and Elain clearly have sexual desire/attraction for each other, and his interaction with her was consensual. His feelings of arousal are normal behaviour, it’s a normal feeling, and as long as what piques someone’s sexual interest isn’t illegal, then why are so many people hating on this? Think of your significant other (if you have one.) Did they arouse you when you started dating? Even eventually for all my demis out there. Did you wonder what sex would be like with them? Did you think of them when you were aroused? Congratulations, you are some sort of human.
Elriel or Gwynriel: Could swing either way. I prefer Elriel for plot purposes, I also think 3 brothers to 3 sisters makes sense. I don’t see how a Elain/Lucien plot would move the series along, it would remove the story from the IC and Velaris, which is such an integral part of the story telling. Does this mean Az and Gwyn would be bad? Absolutely not! She's bubbly and adorable to his quiet and brooding, opposites are great, love it! I just want the plot to be good and make sense. That's all.

It would make so much sense to me if the original Valkyries territory was that of the Prison island, the rumored, would have been "Dusk Truth" and home of the Pegasus, where they were protectors of the Harp.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Not to mention it would explain why Merrill was researching both the Valkyries and interested in time travel, if she was trying to track down the item they once protected in order to use it herself.
But I'm not sure it all adds up considering Cassian had a Valkyrie lover and I'd think he'd have known if their territory was that of the Prison island?
Just a thought rattling around in my mind.

Multiverse Headcanon:
He’d spent months tracking down the book, so tiny it would fit in a doll’s hands, but so precious it had cost him an indecent amount of money. A miniature manuscript, crafted by the skilled hands of the smaller of the lesser Fae—one of the first printed books in existence. (ACOSF, Pg600)
Aelin and Dorian after learning one of the first printed books in existence lays at the bottom of the Sidra:

Will Koschei kidnap Nesta?
Everything about ACOSF makes sense if you consider that SJM had to get Nesta and Cassian engaged at the end.
Koschei is a bride kidnapper. By making Nesta a bride who revived the Valkyries (and is likely going to revive the Dusk Court), SJM makes it possible for Koschei to kidnap her. Nesta has to be a bride.
It would also make sense if Koschei is "engaged" with Nesta. Papa Archeron had to pay a high price to get those boats, and we never learned what that price was. I'm willing to bet Papa Archeron traded Nesta's hand in marriage without her consent.
Nesta getting kidnapped would set up Elain's story. Elain would have a reason to get out of her comfort zone, away from the IC, and go on an adventure of her own.

Disclaimer: Personally, I would prefer that Azris remain a non-canon ship for all eternity but it’s fun to tease potential threads from the canon. Yes, I’m aware of my shipping goggles, hence the title on the little banner. Let me have my fun.
𝙰𝙲𝙾𝚂𝙵 𝚌𝚑. 𝟽𝟻
She pulled back, letting him see the joy in her eyes, her smile. His awe, his own joy, made her throat tighten.
“Cassian, I—”
But two figures landed beside them, making the mountain shudder, and they whirled to find Mor and Azriel there, faces grave.
“Eris?” Cassian demanded.
“Safe, and the Made dagger is in our possession again,” Azriel said, “though Eris is pissed and confused. He’s at the Hewn City. But—”
“It’s Feyre,” Mor said.
Alright, let’s dive straight in. Here we see Azriel and Mor arriving on Ramiel as soon as the Blood Rite is over because Feyre has already been in labor for a few hours and things aren’t going well. Azriel and Mor are there because their High Lady may be dying.
It makes sense that Cassian, unaware of what’s happening in Velaris, immediately asks Azriel about Eris. The last time he saw either of them was when Azriel and Eris were flying away from Koschei and Briallyn.
Azriel answers the question and then he elaborates. When he is supposed to be alerting Cassian and Nesta of the dire situation happening, Azriel feels a need to expound upon what Eris is feeling and where he is and, presumably, at least one other thing which Mor’s interjection stopped him from saying.
Mor cuts Azriel off. Azriel, who usually has the fewest words to offer, has to be interrupted because he’s talking about Eris instead of the fact that Feyre might be dying. Mor has her priorities in order.
I just think this is a curious little detail that could easily go unnoticed yet raises questions.

Acosf Bonus Chapter
Okay, I was just rereading Azriel’s bonus chapter and I had a thought so hear me out.
‘Elain sucked in a soft breath that whispered over his skin. His shadows skittered back at the sound. They'd always been prone to vanish when she was around.’
‘He nearly groaned with relief and need as he lowered his head toward hers.
Azriel.
Rhys's voice thundered through him, halting him mere inches from Elain's sweet mouth.
Azriel.
Unrelenting command filled his name, and Azriel looked up.
Rhysand stood atop the staircase. Glowering down at them.
My office. Now.
Rhys vanished, and Azriel was left standing before Elain, who still awaited his kiss.’
Did his shadows tell on him???
Like I was thinking about it for a while? Why would Rhys suddenly decide to walk about the house when he could be with Feyre? I feel like it’s too much of a coincidence that Rhysand just happened to be passing by as Azriel’s about to make a move that could really fuck up relations between courts.
And by the statement of his shadows always disappearing when Elain’s around, matching with the timing of his brother finding them?
Side note: i’m not hating on anyone’s ship, this was just a small question I had :)

I had a thought. Rhys gave Eris one of Nesta Made daggers for Solstice.
I don't know how easy it is to kill a High Lord. In case of Tamlin's and Rhys's fathers, each one was murdered by a High Lord (each other). What if only great magic or another HL can kill a High Lord?
I don't think that the High Lords are like Death Gods, but it's taken a Made weapon to kill both the Bone Carver and Lanthys. But it must be difficult to kill a HL, and perhaps that's why Eris hasn't been able to do it up until now?
So now that Eris has a Made dagger, will it finally be used to kill Beron? Maybe it's something that Rhys knew and that's why he opted to give it to Eris?

Rhys' actions in ACOSF are a trauma response
Warning Major Spoilers for whole ACOTAR series
I know he didn't always make the greatest decisions in ACOSF, but he had just spent 50 years doing the unthinkable in the name of protection. It makes sense that after he gets back from under the mountain he still goes to wild lengths for the safety of his family. So in being harsh with Nesta he was trying to protect her from herself the only way he could think of as well as (albeit selfishly), trying to protect Feyra and Cassian from how her pain might impact them. Even in the bonus chapter, I feel like he was trying to protect Azriel from the pain of Elain possibly choosing her mate over Az eventually and from any chances he would have issues in a blood duel due to Lucien's unrevealed heritage. On top of just regularly wanting to avoid any conflict in the name of protecting his family and court. And finally, I think he did the best he could with the pregnancy as well. There would have been a fear that Feyra stressing about the danger she could not change could have harmed her or the baby and he likely didn't want to take away her joy in the pregnancy either. So even though there may have been different perspectives/options in all of these cases I think what he did makes sense and he deserves leniency.

Elain Archeon deep dive
This is a long one, bare with me.
I think Elain’s character is easy for ACOTAR fans to mold her into what they want her to be because we haven’t really seen a lot of Elain from the series and but I also think we still have enough information about Elain to know her to an extent.
I like Elain’s character, she has so much potential in the future. Whether people agree or not she will have a major role to play in the future of the ACOTAR books and her character would be more fleshed out in her book, but the theories some fans come up with about Elain is crazy and I don’t think they fit her character or who she is.
The number one thing I see is, Elain is going to become an assassin/spy.
I know people say this about Elain to make her be better suited to be in a ship with Azriel & there is textual evidence to show that Elain is good at sneaking around and keeping secrets.
• “Elain was the only one who guessed. She caught me vomiting two mornings in a row.” She nodded toward Azriel. “I think she’s got you beat for secret keeping.” (Page 235, ACOSF)
• “Elain had already departed with Feyre, claiming she had to be up with the dawn tend to an elderly faerie’s garden. Cassian didn’t exactly know why he expected this wasn’t true. There has been some tightness in Elain’s face as she’d said it. Normally when she made such excuses, Lucien was around, but the male remained in the human lands with jurian and Vassa.” (Page 311, ACOSF)
When Elain lies, her face tightens up. Azriel confirmed this in his ACOSF bonus chapter.
• “You came,” Elain said behind her, and Nesta started, not having heard her sister approach. She scanned Elain from head to toe, wondering if she’d been taking lessons in stealth either from Azriel or the two half wraiths she called friends. (Page 596, ACOSF)
There’s also evidence that Elain becoming a spy/assassin might not come to happen.
• “Gentle grower of things.” (Page 488, ACOMAF)
• “Elain had always been gentle and sweet—and I had considered it a different sort of strength. A better strength. To look at the hardness of the world and choose, over and over, to love, to be kind. She had been always so full of light. Perhaps that was why she now kept all the curtains open. To fill the void that existed where all of that light had once been. And now nothing remained.” (Page 156, ACOWAR)
• “If the faeries who attack possess magic,”Cassian said, and Elain recoiled at the harsh tone, “then thick stone won’t do much.” (Page 471, ACOWAR)
• Elain was blinking, wide eyed, at the camp. The army. Devlon let out a grunt at the sight of her. But Elain wrapped her own blue cloak around herself, averting her eyes from all of their towering, muscled warriors, the army camp bustling toward the horizon…she was a rose bloom in a mud field. Field with galloping horses. (Page 485, ACOWAR)
• “Graysen leveled a seething look at Rhysand. “Is this the start of it? You fae males will come to take out women? Are your own not fuckable enough?” “Watch your tongue, boy,” his father said. Elain turned white at the coarse language.” (Page 500, ACOWAR)
• “Nesta and I climbed inside one of the supply caravan’s covered wagons to change into illyrian fighting leathers. Nesta even buckled a knife at her side. Elain…she’d taken one look at us in the swaying grasses outside that wagon, the legs and assets on display and turned crimson. Viviane stepped in, offering a winter court fashion that was far less scandalous: leather pants, but paired with a thigh length blue surcoat, white fur trimming the collar. In the heat, it’d be miserable, but Elain was thankful enough that she didn’t complain.” (Page 609, ACOWAR)
• “She refused the knife Cassian handed her though. Went white as death at the sight of it.” (Page 609, ACOWAR)
• “Fae fertility cycles had never been something I’d considered, and explaining them to Nesta and Elain had been uncomfortable, to say the least. Elain had blushed, muttering about the impropriety of such things.” (Page 49, ACOWAR)
• “She gave it back”….“Elain had given it back—had pressed it into Azriel’s hands after the battle, just as he had pressed it into hers before. And then walked away without looking back.” (Pg 41-42, ACOFAS)
• “Elain, surprisingly, held her ground. “I wasn’t drinking myself into oblivion and—and doing those other things.” “fucking strangers?” Elain flinched again, her face coloring.” (Page 204, ACOSF)
• “And he knew the cruelty of the Hewn City troubled her.” (page 580, ACOSF)
• “So Elain had let her golden brown hair down tonight, and pinned it back with twin combs of pearl. He’d never once in the two years he’d known her found Elain to be plain, but wearing black, no matter how much she claimed to be part of this court…it sucked the life from her.” (page 580, ACOSF)
Elain is seen to be the most gentle Archeon sister. She’s seen to be sweet and innocent. But I know that Elain can grow out of that innocence. It’s very obvious that Elain is just not going to be sweet and innocent all of her life. I think she will seem to grow bolder with her family, the IC and go do things that she actually wants and not do what people expect her to do or be the person people expect her to be.
But what we have seen from her so far is that Elain recoils at harshness. She doesn’t like to talk about sex, menstrual periods, or even wear illyrian fighting leathers because she thinks that it’s inappropriate to discuss and to even wear. Night court black doesn’t suit her. She doesn’t want to train or hold a knife and she only did so out of necessity in ACOWAR. She doesn’t even like the cruelness of Hewn City.
So to say Elain is going to be assassin & spy when that job title includes killing & torturing in the Hewn City to the point that even Feyre couldn’t stand to see Azriel torture in the Hewn City and knowing Elain is the most gentle out of the 3 Archeon sisters and pretty much saying she’s going to to be ok with killing and torturing is beyond me.
Yes spy work is gathering information from observation which Elain is very good at doing but also you get information from torturing it out of your enemies as we seen Azriel do and I just think that’s not going to sit right with Elain at all.
And to claim that Elain is going to be an assassin & spy when she has no physical training to do either to me is far fetched, yes Elain could physically train in her own book, but I felt like ACOSF could have been a perfect set up for elain to train with Nesta since from ACOTAR, readers thought that Elain and Nesta had a really close relationship.
We also don’t know how Elain even feels about killing Hybern. He was her first kill. I’m pretty sure Elain is traumatized about that whole ordeal and I even think she has nightmares about it. Elain can claim that she’s fine but from what we seen from both Feyre and Nesta you can claim & appear that you’re fine all you want to but as the readers we won’t know the depth of her struggle until we get Elain’s pov.
But also, Elain doesn’t need to train and become a soldier to be a badass MC. Physical strength doesn’t define a person. Like Feyre said, Elain has a different type of strength and I would love to see that in the upcoming books.
Archeon sisters relationship.
Though I am a huge Feyre fan and I do like Nesta, but the way both sisters sometimes/most times describe Elain just really confirms to me that they really don’t know her fully at all and that the 3 Archeon sisters are not going to be as close as I really want the sisters to be. Though I know opinions can change.
• “It wasn’t that Elain was cruel. She wasn’t like Nesta, who had been born with a sneer on her face. Elain sometimes just…didn’t grasp things. (Page 11, ACOTAR)
• “It wasn’t meanness that kept her from offering to help; it simply never occurred to her that she might be capable of getting her hands dirty. I’d never been able to decide where she actually didn’t understand that we were truly poor or if she just refused to accept it.” (Page 11, ACOTAR)
• “She would have marveled—likely wept—at the gardens I’d become so accustomed to, at the flowers in perpetual bloom at the Spring Court. (Page 256, ACOSF)
• Saw Elain as barely more than a doll to dress up. (Page 130, ACOSF)
• “When human, Elain had easily been the prettiest of the three of them, and when she’d been turned High Fae, that beauty had been amplified. Nesta couldn’t put her finger on what changes had been wrought beyond the pointed ears, but Elain had gone from lovely to devastatingly beautiful. Elain never seemed to realize it. It was always that way between them. Elain, sweet oblivious. (Page 202-203, ACOSF)
• Elain is pleasant to look at, her mother had since mused while Nesta sat beside her dressing table, a servant silently brushing her mothers golden brown hair, but she has no ambition. She does not dream beyond her garden and pretty clothes. She will be an assist on the marriage market for us one day, if that beauty holds. (Page 203, ACOSF)
• “look who decided to grow claws after all,” she crooned. “Maybe you’ll become interesting at last, Elain.” Nesta saw the blow land, like a physical impact, in Elain’s face, her posture. (Page 232, ACOSF)
• Elain had always wanted to visit the continent to study the tulips and other famed flowers, but her imagination had stretched no further. (Page 281, ACOSF)
• Elain was like a dog, loyal to whatever master kept her fed and in comfort. (Page 348, ACOSF)
• Nesta's throat constricted, and she surveyed the swaying cherry blossoms overhead. Elain would love this place. So many flowers, all in bloom, so much green—the light, vibrant green of new grass—so many birds singing and such warm, buttery sunshine. Nesta felt like a storm cloud standing amid it all. But Elain…The Spring Court had been made for someone like her. (Pg 455, ACOSF)
• Nesta was wrong, Cassian realized, to think Elain as loyal and loving as a dog. Elain saw every single thing Nesta had done, and understood why. (Page 470, ACOSF)
• Elain and I had grown closer since the war with Hybern had ended. True, I might never go out drinking with her the way I did with Mor, and sometimes Amren. And while I might never run to Elain first with problems or for advice, we had a peaceful, amicable understanding. I found her to be a pleasant companion. I wondered if she’d resent that judgement. I certainly would. (Feysand’s ACOSF bonus chapter)
• “I mean, she’s been brave when she had to be, but she’s never been confrontational.” “Maybe she was never given the chance to be that way.” I whipped my head toward him. “You think I stifle her?” Rhys held up his hands. “Not you alone.” He surveyed the study as he thought. “But I wondered if everyone has spent so long assuming Elain is sweet and innocent that she felt she had to be that way or else she’d disappoint you all.” (Feysand’s ACOSF bonus chapter)
• “With some time and safety, perhaps we’ll see a different side of her emerge.” “This sounds dangerously close to what Nesta said about Elain finally being interesting.” (Feysand’s ACOSF bonus chapter)
• “You think Elain’s boring?” “I think she’s kind; and I’ll take kindness over nastiness any day. But I also think we haven’t yet seen all she has to offer.” A corner of his mouth tugged upward. “Don’t forget that gardening often results in something pretty, but it involves getting one’s hands dirty along the way.” (Feysand’s ACOSF bonus chapter)
From both sisters perspective I really don’t think they see Elain as more. The only thing they chalk Elain up to be is some pretty thing who only cares about gardens and flowers and she doesn’t think of nothing beyond that and that she’s content with just doing that. And that she’s need their protection for everything in her life since gardens and flowers is all she cares about. Feyre even stated that she only saw Elain as pleasant companion and that she wouldn’t liked to be known as a pleasant companion herself if she was in Elain’s shoes.
Its obvious that Elain wants to do more, because she wanted to help find the dread trove but she gets shot down by Nesta and Azriel, though Azriel didn’t say it to her face directly.
In Chapter 21 of ACOSF Elain said they can use her to find the trove. Nesta instantly said no, then absolutely not. Then Elain proceeds to say. “Why?” Elain demanded. “Shall I tend to my little garden forever?” (Page 232). The simple statement made Nesta flinch.
Page 311, in ACOSF. “Azriel stiffened, an outright sign of temper from him as he said quietly, “there is an innate darkness to the dread trove that Elain should not be expose to?” “But Nesta should?” Cassian growled. Everyone stared at him.
I don’t get why they were staring at Cassian crazy because I think it’s a valid question. Why is ok for Nesta to be exposed to the darkness but not Elain, especially when Elain said she wanted to help. Why do they get to decide what Elain can and cannot do?
Then after this we seen something from Amren. “She threw a nod toward Azriel. “Elain is more capable of defending herself against the darkness of the trove, if she chooses to. Don’t underestimate her.”
Why are the people (Rhysand, Cassian & Amren) that haven’t even known Elain that long are the only ones to seem to know that Elain is more than just being about flowers, gardens & being pretty? That she can defend herself if they really give her the choice to like she did in ACOWAR. And that Elain is going to be much more than what is happening in her life right now. Her family likes to stifle her and coddle her and I don’t think they will let her be to the best of her ability in the name of protection. Tho Feyre did say that Elain finding the trove was her choice.
But I still really think that Elain shouldn’t stay in the night court. As for right now, I don’t think Elain is seen to be apart of the night court despite the gardens she helps with around it and even tho she says she’s apart of the court. When she wants to help certain people shoot her down and make her play a smaller role.
Nesta was offered a title in the night court but what about Elain? Nesta is having a future of becoming a general of the valkyries for the night court. But I really don’t see a future for Elain in the night court, maybe as a courtier or an emissary since it’s stated how Elain threw a ball for Feyre’s return in ACOTAR and Nesta said Elain used to love balls and parties and flitter around the room greeting and talking to everyone. But Cassian was becoming a courtier in ACOSF already & lucien is their current emissary, but I know he’s not going to hold that position for long.
I know that Elain is pushed to the background to have Nesta’s story and we’ll get more of her when it comes to her book. But from what I have seen so far, I don’t think Elain would stay in the night court. When she’s described Elain is known to be a flower but she’s also know to be described with light. She needs light. She needs sunshine. When in ACOWAR, it stated, “The suite was filled with sunlight. Every curtain shoved back as far as it could go, to let in as much sun as possible. As of any bit of darkness was abhorrent. As if to chase it away. And seated in a small chair before the sunniest of the windows, her back to us, was Elain. (Page 154).” & “What can I get you Elain?”. But Elain shook her head once more. “Sunshine” (Pg 302)
The night court is the opposite of what Elain needs and want. And since she is described as a flower, what do flowers need? Sunlight.
But I also don’t think that Elain is going to be in the spring court. I know I’ve seen theories that oh Tamlin and Elain are actually mates or that Tamlin is going to die and that Elain and lucien will be high lord & lady of spring, yeah no. I think Elain would love to visit the spring court but it’s obvious that Elain likes getting her hands dirty and actually likes the work of creating gardens, what’s the point of her living in spring where there is already gardens and she can’t do the work that she loves?
But I am excited for Elain’s book, whenever we get it and to see all what she has to offer when it comes to her powers and personal growth.

Eight Pointed Star in Sarah. J Maas explained
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The eight pointed star actually pops up in different cultures everywhere and they can be on everything; dolls, woven belts, toys, rugs etc.
The star is called the Kaheksakand in Estonian or 8 pointed star (kaheksa=8) and is a symbol of life, fertility and wards against evil.
In Latvia, the "hashtag" looking symbol with eight lines is called the Aka, or the Well and is a symbol of the place where Heaven meets the Earth- the source of life (divine feminine)
In old Estonian this symbol is also associated with the threshold of the spirit world- the gateway we pass through in death.
In other Northern European countries, the star is used for hope, balance and harmony. It's also been called the Nordic Rose and resembles a blooming flower and the compass rose, (which has 8 points)
On another note, the eight pointed compass is a directional device used to navigate the corporeal world, and the 8 pointed star has certainly been used for thousands of years by pretty much EVERY culture to navigate through the spiritual world as well.
Tumblr media
In Asian countries such a Ukraine, the Mallow or eight pointed star is created by superimposing a straight cross (symbol of masculinity and the Sun) and an oblique cross (symbol of femininity and the Moon). -
The joining of these two entities naturally gives life. The full mallow is also known as the Mother’s Star. This is the symbol we often see in icons of the Virgin Mary.
The octagonal star is one of the most popular geometric motifs in Ukrainian embroidery. 8 is not a haphazard number. Biophysicists say that such a star – octahedron – is the model of an energy field built around any living organism.
When the human zygote undergoes its first cell division, forming 8 cells, 8 energy flows, which then shape the physical and spiritual essence of the embryo.
It's the source of life, fertility and protection is related to femininity.
Ancient people understood that balance in life was dependent on, and tied to the seasons, the cycles of the moon and the life giving sun. (The solar and seasonal courts in ACOTAR?)
In the America, the Northern Canadian Mi'kmaq People used the 8 pointed star pictogram on doorways and thresholds to ward against evil coming from the sea, and as a symbol of Hope. They called it Wejkwapeniaq which in English means “the coming of the Dawn”
The ancient Babylonians believed that an eight pointed star represented the goddess Ishtar, associated with the planet Venus.
In Judeo-Christian culture, it is an agent for new beginnings.
