Hello! Could you make an altar guide for Goddess Nyx? And without wanting to bother you too much, Nyx is a Hellenic deity??
Just curious, I'm new to this and I wanted to know if I'm Hellenic for worshiping the Goddess Nyx.
Thanks for your attention
– Mel
Nyx is definitely considered a hellenic deity, and she plays a not-so-insignificant role in the Greek origin story. You don't have to consider yourself a Hellenic pagan if you don't want to though, it's up to you. There's really nothing special you have to do either way.
NYX
Colors: black, dark blue, purple for association with the night, anything galaxy patterned
Offerings: blackberries, blueberries, plum, dew (morning is fine but after sunset is best), dark feathers, dark chocolate, night-blooming flowers (like moonflower or wisteria), black tea/coffee, mugwort
Crystals: obsidian, black tourmaline, labradorite, moonstone (especially black moonstone), selenite, lapis lazuli, amethyst, smokey quartz
Animals: owl
also, she is associated with symbols of keys and veils/cloaks, so during your practice you might look into veiling (highly recommend if you're neurodivergent too!)

🌲 Subtle Pan Worship 🌿
Take a walk/hike in nature
Take regular breaks from screens; get some fresh air
Go camping out in nature; focus on the wildlife around you; look at the constellations at night
Learn how to safely forage
Get a candle that reminds you of him (no altar needed)
Keep a picture of him in your wallet
Wear jewelry that reminds you of him
Pick wild flowers; press or dry them
Start a garden; tend to a plant
Decorate your space with vines, leaves, and the like; maybe fairy lights with bugs, flowers, or mushrooms on them
Have imagery of fauns, goats, forests, meadows, pan flutes, sheep, wildflowers, or mountains around
Have a stuffed sheep or goat animal; have a stuffed animal of any forest, meadow, or mountain creatures
When you're anxious or afraid, go to the forest or to nature; spend time outside, and breathe; you will be ok
Learn about local fauna and flora
Collect animal bones from nature (please thank the animal's spirit beforehand); make sure to safely handle them; link to some safety tips when handling fleshy remains
Cook with homegrown herbs or produce
Drink a natural herbal or produce beverage; fruit juice works but has high sugar content, so just be aware in case that's an issue for you
Fall asleep/meditate to the sounds of a forest or general wilderness
Pick up trash in your environment
Support environmental preservation organizations, animal sanctuaries, or animal shelters/rescues
Feed neighborhood dogs, cats, birds, etc.
Volunteer at an animal sanctuary or animal shelter
Go outside of your comfort zone; if you're afraid of doing something, do it scared; it could work out far more beautifully than you ever imagined
Learn how to play panpipes; own panpipes in general
Light a bonfire with friends in the wilderness (SAFELY!!!!); share scary stories, especially those y'all have directly experienced
Plant seeds, especially the fruit of vegetables you've eaten; give it new life
Research coping skills for stress, fear, or anxiety; try some for yourself
Keep a dream journal specifically dedicated to nightmares; try to interpret them; what are they trying to tell you?
Explore the areas nearby you, be it nature or otherwise; acquaint yourself with the unfamiliar
Get comfortable with the concept of the unknown and uncertainty; remind yourself that you need not know everything in order for it to work out in your favor
Address the uncertainties in your life that cause you the most stress; find your own answers; topics like death, the afterlife, the long-term future, etc.
Play with your pets; spend time with them
Keep your pet healthy; feed them good food, take them on regular walks/exercise them, keep them up to date on vaccines, etc.
Do something fun and new with your partner (or alone); try something exciting or scary that you've always wanted to try
Use natural herbs and remedies to address minor health issues, such as stomaches or sore throat
Try urban exploring - the practice of visiting abandoned places, especially those that have been reclaimed by nature
Face your fears; learn to work through them
Recycle; reuse things that don't need to be immediately disposed of; use compost for your garden or nearby plants
Take time to be alone and decompress, especially after a long day
Cook a good meal for someone in need
Cook a good meal for you or your loved ones
-
This list still feels pretty short to me, so I'll likely add more in the future. For now, this is my list of discreet ways to worship Pan. I hope this is helpful to someone, and take care! 💚

a reminder to all the helpols, something i need to remember too; it's okay to not be able to worship and pray properly every single day, the gods will keep you in their blessings as long as you keep them in your hearts

When somebody tells you that a certain view of a deity or certain method of practice is wrong or historically isnt relevant you should always remember that modern paganism is NOT ancient paganism. The beauty of paganism is that it changes very easily throughout time, it changes from household to household. It's very difficult to assume exactly what ancient people believed in, particularly because those beliefs changed rapidly over time and geographical location even within the same civilization.
So do what you like, take history as a guide if it helps, learn from it and love it, but try not to think of it as gospel, it's just the way things were at one point and it's ok if they're different now.

Coins are Essential to Hellenic Worship and Witchcraft
Tumblr media
In Ancient Greece Drachmae (the coins/currency of the time) were used not just in everyday life but honoring the dead. It was believe that coins were offered to the deceased right before they were buried. The coins were given to grant the spirits passage to the underworld by paying Charon who will ride across Acheron, a river in the underworld to the afterlife, fearing they will get stuck on the shores if they don’t have the payment to cross. Though it is a very old superstition it is still very important to offer such a gift to the spirits that crossed over, though whether you don’t believe such a belief or do about paying the ferryman the act of the gesture is a sign of great respect and admiration for the departed. Collect your spare change and don’t be afraid to use them for various reasons:
- Offer them to your ancestors.
- Place a coin on gravestones when you visit a cemetery.
- Offer coins to your deities as money being one of the great sacrifices to give to them even if it’s just a penny.
You can also do spell work with coins as charms, divination (flipping heads or tails), talismans, focal point of power, etc.

THIS TEMPLE IS ANTI TERF/RADFEM/GENDER CRITICAL
There is a large TERF issue in hellenism communities, I'm not sure why considering how pro trans hellenism is, but I do want to say that no TERFS are welcome to The Temple of Hypnos. You're telling me Hypnos would support people who deny others their dreams? Hypnos would support terfs who bring harm and stress to trans people like me? Don't make me laugh. You're an insult to all hellenics, may you never rest and may you never dream

Pagan Temples
yall pagan temples were SO cool, such a shame that Theodosius and his christian amigos decided to burn them all down.
like imagine going to a Hellenic temple weekly and in different areas there is a worship area for each Olympian god. Like a MASSIVE public altar in each corner and you are given a candle and lighter when you enter and you can choose the deity area of your choice, and weekly there will kinda like, be a public praying session, aloud guided by someone at each area. Like they will recruit someone who worships each of the Olympians and it will be their job everyday to go down and take care of the altar of their god and to pray alloud.
man that would be so cool :)

About a week or so ago I asked Apollo to help with my pain while trying to sleep, I was laying in bed and, like usual, that hurt to do, and I was having trouble falling asleep. As soon as I asked the pain was almost all gone, and I almost cried, that was what I've been missing out on? It was so nice
I didn't expect it to last more than that night but my pain whole trying to sleep has been almost non-existent since and I'm so grateful
Thank you Lord Apollon, I gave you nothing for it and you helped me anyway, and continued helping me even when I didn't ask, I am so incredibly grateful
