SaL anon here bestie, currently cheering, laughing, and digging in for what looks like an amazing season. You know there are a lot of ways they could have told the story of Buck realizing he's bi, but by far they went for the most hilarious and ridiculous route and I a HERE for this kind of nonsense. ABC seriously said "Okay, Buck's gonna get really jealous of Eddie's new guy friend...who he spends more time with than his girlfriend who Buck isn't jealous of (and who hasn't spoken in 4 episodes and is known for being the babysitter when Eddie needs to spend time with his new guy friend). Buck will go to ridiculous lengths to get Eddie's attention, including loudly clanking around the gym while sweaty and playing a sport he hates, while sweaty. But then, get this, the new friend will confront Buck and Buck will conclude for some reason THAT'S the person whose attention he wanted, something even the new friend doesn't believe, but he kisses him anyway. How funny would that be." ABC, and Tim specifically, you are not fooling anyone about where this is going.

Seriously I'm so happy, even if Buck's first kiss wasn't Eddie. Tommy isn't going to be around long it seems (especially if he has any sense of self preservation) and maybe Marisol will be lucky to get a full sentence in before she's out the door the way they're going. But I think this is the best way to tell this particular self discovery story, not in an overly angsty, stressful way but in a fun way that's over the top. I'm happy about the way they did it, and am definitely curious about how they will develop Buck through the season. Let's buckle in my friend, we're finally getting some good soup 🎉🎉🥂🥂!!!

My friend, I am still giddy over how much fun I had all around with that episode! Maddie and Chim were in peak Sassy Sibling mood with Buck, we even got some Mom-Mode Activated Maddie, we got silly call shenanigans, we got a heartbreaking call, we got some Grant family drama bringing up stuff from the past, we got happy smiling Eddie, we got sass-master Ravi, AND we got kicked-puppy pouty faced Buck begging Eddie to pay attention to him all episode and still somehow coming up with the wrong answer to his jealousy question 🤣 Epitome of that "the risk I took was calculated but MAN am I bad at math" meme. I love him.

I was reserving my judgment to see how this was going to play out, but so far, I am not hating it! It really does feel like Tommy Knows What's Up, but he gets to kiss Buck out of it, so why not? and while I don't ship them, the kiss was REALLY soft and sweet and Buck is being pursued for once so like, I'm willing to see how Tommy moves Buck's story forward. It definitely gave me the vibes that this is going to be the thing that helps push Buck to his "oh" moment about Eddie (hopefully with an accompanying montage to shut up the "this came out of nowhere" people 🙄). I'm typically not on the "this character needs to date around and use other people to be "ready" for the relationship they ACTUALLY want" train, but so far this storyline was handled well. Like, it's SO clearly about Eddie but also it's SO clear Buck has not connected those dots yet but Tommy HAS. So it's not like Buck *knows* and is stringing Tommy along waiting for Eddie to be single. It has the potential to be a sweet, fun, joyous experience for Buck without ever undercutting his relationship with Eddie because again, Tommy sure seemed to know whose attention Buck was REALLY looking for. For now, I'm on board to see how the ride plays out! And with Tim being better at keeping the stories focused on the mains, I think we are going to get some REALLY good Buck moments with his family around all this, while Tommy does the job of a side character and moves the story along.

"maybe Marisol will be lucky to get a full sentence in before she's out the door" Please, the sound I just made! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Let's hope it's no more than that, I cannot take her smiling like her head is about to start spinning around (plus the actress needs to GO, we don't need that nastiness here!). I am cryyyying though at the way Eddie's girlfriends have never even registered for Buck because at no point did they interfere with his time with Eddie and Chris, but Eddie spends time with ONE (1) dude, and Buck is just BESIDE himself about it. Poetic. Baby boy you are sooooo close to a realization! Also, not the synopsis calling out Eddie reevaluating his relationship the second Buck gets into one 🤣🤣🤣 Boys you are NOT subtle.

We are being FED and I am strapped in for the ride! Lets goooooo! The joy and heart and soul of the show has been restored and it feels sooo good!

I needed a couple of hours to sort through my thoughts about 7x04 - because I was busy screaming, crying, kicking my feet giggling - but now I just gotta say, before I dive into any details: I AM SO INCREDIBLY HAPPY.

As a bisexual myself who realized she‘s always been bi at the ripe age of 30 and after already being very married to the very male love of her life (which wasn’t at all changed by the realization), seeing bi characters having their ‚oh‘ moment later in life than in their teens is SO VALIDATING.

I love how yes, there have always been hints and it makes sense for the character but they actually gave Buck the space to find out this new thing about himself. They showed an adult man figuring this important part of his identity out when he was ready for it. Without it being induced by trauma or relationship troubles. That is so so so meaningful and so so so beautiful at the same time. I legit CRIED LIKE A BABY watching Buck‘s face go ‚oh I see‘ after the kiss. He just landed in his body as the penny of truth dropped and he seemed so content it made me squeek. I love seeing our golden retriever carving his place out in the world and discovering how to fully embrace all of himself.

And I love he gets to do it with Tommy.

Yes, I am a buddie shipper and that hasn‘t changed. However, whichever way the show moves now, bi Buck means the world to me. And the way they are telling the story with Tommy in a gentle, realistic way, I hope we get more of that. Hell I even really like their vibe together. Tommy seems like he‘ll be okay holding the hand of a baby queer and help him dip his toe into the water. Wherever that leads, it was a genius decision to introduce him to Buck‘s story.

Now for the details:

This episode wasn‘t only beautiful, it was also hilarious. THE TOP GUN REFERENCE HAD ME HOLLERING. At that point I knew some queerness was gonna happen because you don’t make the queerest reference in movie history without reason. Also absolutely loved the sewer conversation (hooray for Ravi by the way, I missed that little dude) and the emotions Buck goes through during the conversation.

Buck‘s jealousy is as stupid as it is adorable and I have to say I did find Eddie the slightest bit unfair. He knows Buck has abandonment issues and still doesn‘t register that he might need some reassurance. Yes okay, I get he wanted a little payback for the Nathalia ‚she sees me‘ bs, but come on, Eds, cut the poor man some slack.

The acting in the episode? Chef‘s kiss. Oliver was amazing, but I don‘t see Lou getting enough credit. He already planted his visible interest in Buck in 7x03 nicely in that one tiny interaction at the end and he really delivered on the flirty banter in this episode. Oliver, meanwhile, has done such a great job at showing the gradual change in Buck and the nervousness and the curiosity and hopefulness it tugged on all of my heartstrings. Deserving of an Emmy-nom. Great Job, loved every second.

Maddy and Chim very also amazing in the ep, especially Chim clocking immediately why Buck really brought him to basketball. It‘s gonna be interesting to see their reaction to Buck‘s truth - if he‘s ready to share it yet.

The only thing that bugged me was that Athena‘s storyline felt very rushed. I liked the theme and I think it hinted at important conversations, but it resolved the conflict too fast and too easy - making said issues seem smaller than they are. I struggle to believe that they would let a POC kid off the hook that easily. I wish this was realistic, but I doubt it is.

Bachelor call was great, loved gossipy Josh (by god, I want more Josh, I love that goofball) and Chim going full fanboy.

Can‘t wait for next week and hope we get more Hen and Bobby there! I missed them this ep.

I am so excited to see where Buck‘s story arch will go next. I‘ll explode with happiness if it slowly drifts towards buddie, but I won’t be mad if it doesn‘t happen or if it does happen and the show takes its time to get there. A slow buildup for this would be chef‘s kiss and I have a lot of trust in ABC and the writers that this is how they will do it, if Buddie happens.

All in all: Favorite episode of all the series for me, worthy 100th episode, will watch a billion times, made me all warm and fuzzy and giggly.

There’s been quite a bit of loser/liar behaviour going on in the fandom since February and the part that is making me laugh are the ones who also got this inside information going “well not great for that other blog to have shared those stills….I would never put an anon source out there like that…” when it’s like babes you aren’t any better because you’ve been vague posting in the tags now for weeks with emojis and comments of “prepare yourselves” or “get the popcorn ready” and clearly shared to other people as well in text/group chats…like babes you haven’t been subtle, people have taken note of your comments. And the reason I call it loser behaviour is that they are pretty much condescending towards those that are having fun again with fandom/the show with them being like “you don’t know what’s coming have a fun two weeks between 7x05 and 7x06.”

yeah. the part that's the most hilarious is the fact that they seem to think that we won't enjoy the show? babes even if bi!buck and canon buddie doesn't happen (which again, i'm confident it will) i still... like the show, you know, that's why i'm here. you're talking to the woman who watched 6.18 and was like "makes sense actually i see why they did that it wasn't too bad i would be happy with it as a rushed series finale if that's what it had been." like some people are bitter about the show and they want us to be too and they get so upset when we're not.

REVIEW

I really enjoyed this episode! It was great. It was a bit calmer than the previous ones lol, but I'm okay with that xD. And I am so glad Buck's not entering somebody's open marriage XD.

Now, some quick individuals!

Maddie: iconic. Girl 😭😭, she went through so much this episode with the reminders of her past, and she still pulled through and really helped Claribelle and her mom :')). I'm so proud of and happy for her <33. Also, seems like she and Chim are looking for a nanny! Chilling :). Oh, and while it was hilarious, I'm glad Chim's okay from being kidnapped by the drunk driver lol xD :D. Anyway, looks like, however, Maddie will continue going through it 😭 xD.

Buck! Even though it would've been a great bi awakening, I am SO GLAD it's not an open marriage situation like we were all thinking it was XD. Thank goodness! Not that there's anything wrong with it, but just. . . yk. Buck xD. And also Buddie lol. I'm not too sure on his decision on the sperm donation, but if he's made it, good for him :)). It'll be a wild ride lol.

Eddie and Chris! I love their little parenting moments/plots :DD. I feel like this was a really important step in their relationship, an important thing to say about parenting, and a really great example of Eddie being a cycle-breaker :)). Good for him <333. And, I'm go glad they worked things out. Yeah, in short, I love them ❤️❤️❤️❤️.

BATHENA. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰. That is all.

Oh and also DOG :DDDD 🐕. I will love Hoover with my entire life <333

Hen! I'm SO HAPPY that she's getting another chance :D. I don't want her to leave, obviously :(, but girl was so stressed out of her mind, and now she's losing it XD. But instead of from too much to do, it's by going stir-crazy from too LITTLE to do xD. Ahh, anyway, I love her, and those little moments with Buck were cut :)).

Also, not just related to Hen, I will never get over that kitchen/dining room scene at the station with them all XDD. Amazing, lol. Top tier cinema XDD.

Overall, I loved this episode! It was a little bit slower, a nice change of pace, not that I didn't like what we've had so far. It's just nice to switch it up a bit :). Anyway, I really enjoyed it, everyone's individual parts were great, the calls were super good, and it was honestly just really nice to see my children again :). I needed to relax and they offered the perfect opportunity. Also, a fun theme with the slight touch on parenting all around! Heavier in some storylines than others, but nice :). But yeah! Amazing episode :D.

This was a great episode! It was good all around and had some really enjoyable moments. I'm excited to see what the next one has in store. This has been my review of. . .

Bokuto x Tatsu: smut/ MSBY Black Jackles / drinking

Tatsu getting a phone call from Kotaro Bokuto wasn’t something she ever expected. Well that’s a lie he liked to talk to her but normally he’d show up uninvited to her apartment.

“Hello? Bokuto what’s up?”

“Can I come over and get smashed at yours it’s been a shit day and I need something strong.”

“Sure head on over.”

Kotaro Bokuto sounding serious wasn’t something Tatsu could ever expect either. He was an energetic and happy man and hearing that serious tone made a shiver race down her spine in anticipation.

“So why has the mighty energetic Kotaro brought me a bottle of vodka and my favourite mixer?” The dark haired woman asks.

“Training was a nightmare.”

“Please tell me more- inside as we get drinks.”

“Yes ma’am.” He salutes with his usual wide grin before letting it drop slightly. She pouts and leads him to the kitchen. Grabbing two glasses she urges him to speak while she sorted out their first drink and snacks.

“So.”

“I’m so sore and worn out and frustrated and stressed man.” He started. “Today’s training was hard, I get we have a game coming up but seriously even Hinata had had enough.”

“Even Hinata? That kid has enough energy to power a solar panel but even he’s over it. Shit maybe he need some vodka to.” She laughed taking a drink from her glass.

The evening went like that, catching up, talking about things that annoyed them both, remembering high school and drinking and drinking and drinking.

“Shit Tatsu I remember the first time we met, the skating rink I fell on my ass.” He barked drink shaking in his hand as he laughed.

“Oh I remember that that was fucking hilarious.”

“Then you joined the training camp the next day, ripped Tsukiblahblah a new one and ran off with Kuroo.”

A light blush dusted Tatsu’s cheeks- whether that was from the alcohol or from the memories of Kuroo’s mouth against her was difficult to answer.

“I remember that... I made everyone uncomfortable by saying when people bow to me it’s usually with their face between my thighs.” She laughed. His grin widened as he laughed along.

And then as all drinking with friends go, the conversation turned sexual.. not that either minded at alll. Albeit nothing explicit it did illicit something between them.

“So do you get any personal time with the Black Jackals?” She asked.

“No.” He sighed. “I have all this pent up energy and the only thing I can do to release it is play volleyball with Hinata who nowadays will run to Kenma’s beck and call. What about you? Being a famous figure skater and all much personal time?”

“Not as much as I’d like. I mean I get a decent amount but once I need to start properly practicing for competitions all that free time goes out the window... can’t even get a dick appointment.” She pouted taking another sip of her drink.

“I’ve always meant to ask this, and tell me if it’s weird or inappropriate but I figured since we are friends... who have you slept with? Or just how many...”

Tatsu laughed and pursed her lips in thought.

“Out of people you and I know mutually about six people. Oikawa, Iwazumi, Semi, Asahi, Kuroo and don’t be mad but Akaashi.”

“Oikawa!” Bokuto yelled out. “Shit man.

“Well I have known him and Iwazumi since we were little I did a lot of experimenting with the two plus Toru is bi so he was comfortable with having Iwa join us sometimes... did you know he hooked up with Hinata in Brazil.” She drunkenly giggled.

“What no way! If I remember this in the morning I’m definitely grilling Hinata over it.”

“I require evidence of it happening if it does.”

“Why would I be mad about you sleeping with Akaashi?” He wonders not even noticing how the two of them had been slowly moving closer to each other. “He liked you in his third yea, would message me about it sometimes.”

“Shit really? He was at a party and looked really awkward in his first year of college, I ended up taking him home and well.”

“Ah yeah... so did he bottom?”

“Fuck yeah he did.” Tatsu laughed. “Kuroo is the only one who tops me... out of everyone I’ve slept with, Iwa came close but Kuroo is a very dominating man.”

“As in you two still fuck?”

“Yeah sometimes. What’s with all the questions Kotaro?” Tatsu turned her head to face the man, their noses near touching.

“Are you with him? As in together?”

“No I’m not with anyone... I did say earlier I haven’t been able to get a dick appointment Kotaro.”

“Well, this may be the vodka talking, I have some pent up energy and you need dick... why don’t we...”

“Fuck I thought you’d never ask.” Her lips were on his faster than he anticipated their empty glasses falling onto the carpet. The dual haired man’s hands moved up her sides massaging the exposed skin of her thighs before pushing her beneath him.

“How about we make me the second one to top the great Tatsu Kageyama.” He growled into her ear making the dark haired woman moan and curse. Bokuto sat on his knees pulling off his shirt to show his torso to her hungry eyes. His golden eyes scanned her body finally taking in the fact that she was only wearing a large shirt and underwear. “Tease.”

“I’m a tease?” She asked raising a brow.

“Just a shirt, panties and...” his hands moved beneath the shirt, his breath hitched. “No bra naughty girl. Did you expect this?”

“No.” She hummed in amusement. Bokuto snorted and gave an experimental squeeze making her moan again. He removed his hands letting the lightly train her skin beneath the shirt until they grasped at her hips and forcing her to grind against him. “You’re so forward Kotaro... wouldn’t have expected this.”

“What did you expect? To be needy and a virgin like Kaashi was.”

“No... maybe with more jokes or oooh.” His thumb pressed to her clit making her shut up.

“Sensitive already? I haven’t even begun baby.”

Moments later all articles of clothing were gone and Bokuto was busy covering Tatsu’s chest in marks. The small blemishes making the confident woman shake with desire as Bokuto dragged his teeth and tongue across her skin. He was drawing it out, his hips gyrating agaisnt hers but not entering her. He could feel how wet and needy she was and she could feel how hot and hard he was.

“Fuck me Ko.”

“Magic word.”

“Please fuck me till I can’t walk.”

“Get on your hands a knees... might want a new couch soon.” He chucked.

Tatsu was quick to do as he said, her head resting on the arm of the chair her ass facing towards him where he could see her glistening core. His fingers dragged up her thighs slowly and lightly, barely touching her and making goosebumps. A finger slides through her folds making her clench over nothing- making him smirk.

He swore and settled between her legs easing himself into her. She swore loudly.

“Fuck.. so.. big.” She whimpered.

“What happened to my witty Tatsu. Is she just my obedient little birdy now?”

“Hmm yes Ko.”

“Good.” He whispered in her ear, licking her neck. He braced himself above her, using the arms of the chair (considering she was quite tall herself). With a sharp movement he bucked into her. Tatsu was shaking. She’s had rough sex but not like this, she was stretched both inside and out for him and each thrust made her squish further and further into the soft cotton of the chair. “Holy shit Kotaro.” She said shakily.

“You’re in for a long night.” He smirked. “Pent up energy and all that.” He joked. She laugh allowing him to move out of her, making her feel empty, he picked her up and carried her to her room.

“I can’t wait.”

The morning after, gentle warmth from the sun shon through the sheer curtains. Tatsu groaned and rolled over- she hit a chest. Arms wrapped around her waist and a chin moved to nestle in her hair. She opened one eye still to tired to be quite awake. Bokuto laid beside her, holding her as close as he could to himself. Tilting her head up she saw the loose strands of silver and black resting agaisnt his forehead. She smiled at his peaceful expression before a thought sprung her mind.

She really hoped he hadn’t actually fucked her till she couldn’t walk.

A slowly as she could she moved out of his strong arms and swung her feet over the edge of the bed. With feet placed firmly on the ground she slowly stood, ignoring the chilling air on her naked body. She was shaky but she could stand.

“Looks like I didn’t fuck you hard enough.” Tatsu spun around causing her legs to give way as she crashed into the mattress. “Oops sorry Tatsu.”

“Fuck you.”

“No I fucked you... I mean if you really want you probably could fuck me.” He teased.

“I didn’t think you’d actually fuck me till I couldn’t walk Ko.”

“Learnt your lesson?”

“My lesson?”

“Don’t tell me to do something and expect I won’t actually do it... get back in bed I want snuggles... and I’m definitely calling an Uber to bring us breakfast.”

“Make yourself at home.” She laughed.

“Okay.”

911 4x05 “Buck Begins” Reaction

Under the cut:

I am emotional.

I watched it twice.

My thoughts are mostly incoherent but I loved it, and to finally have Buck’s backstory fleshed out after trying to piece it together for so long feels really good (I’ve written fics about where he’s travelled all over, but I always picked Brazil over Peru).

I’m just going to cover the main things:

The Parents

Look, honestly, I still think they’re awful. I sort of understand why they did what they did - and yeah, to have another kid for the sole purpose of “harvesting” him would get you a lot of criticism in the early 90s (and probably even today), so that explains them moving, and hiding Daniel’s existence from the people in their new town, but...

If I was either of the Buckley kids, there wouldn’t be a whole lot of forgiving going on. Maddie suffered just as much as Buck, but neither of the parents can seem to see past their own suffering at losing Daniel.

They’re not bad people, they’re just bad parents - they’re kinda both.

Also 100% missed opportunity to play Elton John’s ‘Daniel’.

Baby Buck

God I love him.

He wears every single emotion on his sleeve; he’s so gregarious and full of life and he just wants to please people so much... he just wants recognition and to feel like he’s doing a good job; he just wants to be loved. I just wanted to wrap him up in a big hug and tell him that it would be all right.

I lol’d so much at bartender Buck in Peru though, 10/10 hilarious. So glad they gave us the reality of that and not just a picture.

Bi!Buck vibes though 👀

Maddie & Buck

She really did that - she really sacrificed herself to Doug so Buck could have a life. She could’ve gone with him, but she knew Doug well enough even then to realise that he’d come after them and probably kill them both. She knew.

And I knew she was in the hospital when he was reading her letter, but the reveal at the end was just heartbreaking. She let him go to save him, and then when she needed saving, he was the one she went to.

Their parents never gave him a chance, but she never gave up on him. That’s love, man.

The entire sequence of her receiving his postcards and letters, and the camera lingering on her bruises... fuck, man. Just thinking about it makes me emotional. She went through literal hell on earth with Doug, and for her to find her happily ever after with Chimney just makes me so happy.

All the women in this show are so amazing and strong and fleshed out - and all in very different ways. They’ve all faced adversity but they never give up; they come through the other side stronger people.

I cried pretty much any time Jennifer Love Hewitt was on screen tonight - she and Oliver nailed this episode.

The Firefam

If this episode doesn’t settle the bullshit argument in this fandom once and for all that they’re a family, then nothing ever will.

Every single person on that team loves and cares for him. They’re all there for him; they are a family. Families can fight, make fun of each other, have good days and bad days - you don’t stop being a family when things are tough. That’s kind of the whole point of this show - found family.

Buck & Eddie

Was I expecting Eddie to react the way Buck did in Eddie Begins? No, because even from the preview it looked like an entirely different situation, and because Eddie isn’t Buck. Eddie bottles his emotions, while Buck’s erupt out of him like a volcano.

And sure, there wasn’t a huge amount of Buddie - but Eddie’s concern was present throughout, and Eddie was the first person they showed helping him with the rope (they lingered on him, too, so we could see for sure that it was him), he was right there waiting for him when he finished at the hospital, and don’t tell me that I’m the only one who noticed how Eddie turned and watched him go.

And you can’t tell me that Eddie didn’t spend the time waiting for Buck working his Diaz magic on the parents and telling them all about how amazing their son is, flashing that sweet smile and winning them over - he definitely did that, it’s canon

If someone’s going to realise feelings soon, I would bet money that it’s Eddie Diaz. That’s my gut feeling; it has been since the start of this season.

And sure, I’ll probably be wrong, but I just have a good feeling. I am hopeful.

And I can’t wait to see Eddie’s date with Ana end in disaster, please GOD.

What are your top 10 9-1-1 episodes (in no particular order) and why?

I was tagged by @a-beautiful-struggle-of-life thank you 🥰 I’m not gonna lie though, I kinda hate you right now this is SO hard? It’s gonna take me ages to choose but I’m bored so let’s do this.

Of course, it’s in no particular order, let’s not make it harder than it already is

1. s1ep4 - Worst Day Ever: Bobby used to be my favorite character. I don’t really know why to be honest, maybe because I loved Peter Krause in Six Feet Under and seeing him play in 9-1-1 was such a cool and unexpected surprise. And I feel like it’s the first time we get to know him and his past a bit better and seeing him break down in his house like that, seeing him allowing himself to be comforted by Buck and Hen?? I just loved that moment.

2. s2ep1 - Under Pressure: 10/10. This episode was so chaotic but I just love it. I love the vibe, love the song, loved the new characters. I absolutely love Maddie and the relationship she has with Buck is so precious. Also, the way they introduced Eddie? I rolled my eyes so hard I think I saw my brain.

“So is your full name Eduardo?”

“No.”

“People ever call you Diaz?”

“Not if they want me to respond.”

I would put this episode in the top 10 just for these lines to be honest.

3. s2ep4 - Stuck: Diaz boys episode 🥰 🥰 🥰 I don’t know what else to say. Christopher is a national treasure and their relationship is so sweet. Also, I was scared Carla would be gone now that Abby was out of the picture so I was so glad to see they chose to bring her back.

4. s2ep18 - This Life We Choose: Buck literally owns my heart and they really need to stop hurting him like that or I’m gonna throw hands. I kinda loved the way everyone goes out of their way to help lift the firetruck to free him, this was a beautiful scene. Also, Chimney and Maddie finally get back together so 🥰

5. s3ep2/3 - Sink or Swim & The Searchers: Doing the same here friend, because as you said, it’s basically one giant episode. These episodes are so good and frankly, Buck and Chris relationship is so so sweet I love their interactions so much.

6. s3ep10 - Christmas Spirit: Once again, Buck goes out of his way to bring the people he loves together and make everyone happy and I’m so here for that. I just love him so much. Also Maddie leaving Doug behind, Michael opening up to Bobby (I love their friendship with my whole heart), And Buck and Bobby interaction??

“Bobby I know... I do dumb things sometimes and generally drive you crazy. You’re an important person in my life Bobby, one of the most important. I don’t know what I would do... If anything were to happen to you.” I died.

7. s3ep15 - Eddie Begins: What can I say? I love Eddie so much, and I know that so many people hate Shannon but I actually liked her a lot and I was kinda pissed to see the writers kill her off just for the sake of a man’s storyline. Anyway. It was good to see her again. And Eddie fighting to get back to his family? To get back to Chris? Buck losing it? This episode broke my heart.

8. s4ep5 - Buck Begins: Buck’s my favorite so it’s not a surprise. “Love me anyway” 🥺 seeing his past, his relationship with Maddie throughout the years, the 118 being there for him? Loved everything. Although I would say every ‘Begins’ episode has been amazing, I love the concept.

9. s4ep12 - Treasure Hunt: This episode is chaotic and hilarious.

Also, I was so, so happy to have the ‘reassurance’ that Taylor only viewed Buck as a friend cause even outside buddie, I kinda like Taylor and I LOVED their friendship so much and damn you writers yes it’s possible for a man and a woman to have a perfectly healthy friendship without needing more :)

Also: “We didn’t kill him.”

“We just wanted to.”

“Uh I barely know those people, so...”

Priceless.

10. s4ep14 - Survivors: Do I really need to explain why?

“Nobody’s gonna fight for my son as hard as you.”

“Because, Evan.”

“You act like you’re expendable... But you’re wrong.”

I don’t care if the writers choose to explore their relationship more, I’m convinced Eddie finally realized he was in love with Buck in this episode.

Oof, this was hard and I’m pretty sure I’m gonna regret not giving some episodes a place in this top 10 but that’s what I came up with right now. It took me one hour and a half @a-beautiful-struggle-of-life i blame you.

Mostly Bucky, certainly. There are small, but creative fractions that ship her with either Sam or Sharon and also a few Sam/Bucky/Mila poly!shippers. Some people even ship her with Nat, probably because Mila once mentioned she had a girl in the Red Room that she was in love with and that's enough for people to get creative even though Nat was definitely too old to be the one xD

Why the fandom loves her

The fandom loves Mila, because she is kind and loving and it's not presented as a weakness. She also has a bit of a dry humour that does great in gifsets 😅

Why the fandom hates her

"She's basically Nat with white hair!!!1! Also, we have Sharon, shy do we need another chick? Ugh, such a useless love interest. So she's bi, but she's paired with Bucky? What crappy rep is this??? sTuCkY 5eVeR!!!1!"

What the cast relationship would be like

They would get along great. So much so, that they probably have to implement a "use RAISE HAND" rule in video group interviews, because it would just get hilarious out of control.

What was their audition scene

The scene she prepared for her audition was Mila talking about her time in the Red Room and how what they tried to make her into does not define who she is as a person.

She also had a chemistry read with Seb where they did the scene where Buck and Mila first bump into each other outside the community center. They also did a kiss scene to make sure that aspect didn't suck 😆

Who would they be on a press tour / comic con with?

Honestly, it would make sense to pair her with Seb and maybe they do that on a few occasions where their on screen relationship is discussed, but the world being what it is, she will probably end up in a "The Girls TM" kinda group with Emily.

Do they spoil things?

Hell no xD

Are they happy with their character's ending / the ending at large?

She loves how FatWS played out and she loves the way Mila fit into that and how her character and also her relationship with Bucky are portrayed at the end of the show.

She also hopes that we will see more of Mila in the future and if it's up to her she would be more than happy to carry more narrative weight of her own in future installments ("as long as her and Bucky stay happy together! ❤️")

Summary: Bucky meets the Reader’s girlfriend but steps in to protect the couple when someone decides to be an asshole.

WARNINGS: THERE IS A SLUR IN THIS FIC (it rhymes with Mike, if the use of the word triggers you, please heed the warning 💕), language, plenty of fluff!

“What does she look like?” Bucky asked as his leg bounced impatiently in the back of the car, peering out of all the windows in anticipation. “She’s cute.” You replied, not really giving a firm description. “I have no doubt about that.” Bucky chuckled, nudging you. “She taller than you? Shorter? C’mon, give me somethin’ doll.” Bucky pressed, making you smile and shake your head. “Jus’ wanna know what my future daughter in law looks like.” He reasoned; voice completely serious. “Bucky!” You scolded, but you couldn’t hold back your laugh at his antics.

“Promise you won’t be so…” You pointed your finger at him, wiggling it a bit. “Parental, when you meet her.” You poked him in the arm. “Darlin’, it’s sorta my job to be.” He quirked a brow, giving you a sly smirk before he reached over, hand resting on top of yours. “I promise I won’t do anything too parental.” He admonished.

As soon as you both settled down in the diner, Bucky was like an owl, his head swivelling about looking for any girl who might be your girl as they came through the door. “Is that her?” He asked, at least four times before you finally said yes when she came rushing through the door looking rather flustered. To her, Bucky probably looked intimidating, he was dressed in a suit of all things in the middle of a diner. If that didn’t scream mafia boss, you weren’t sure what did.

“I’m so sorry I’m late, draga.” Wanda immediately greeted you with a hug and a kiss, though her eyes were fixed firmly on Bucky. “Wanda, this is-.” “Her dad.” Bucky proudly introduced, getting up from the booth seat and holding out his hand for her to shake. He wasn’t technically your father, you’d never called him that explicitly, but he had always treated you like you were his own.

Wanda looked suitably intimidated and quietly shook his hand, ever so gently. “It’s nice to meet you, Mr Barnes.” She muttered, struggling to meet his eyes. “It’s wonderful to meet you too, I have heard so much about you.” Bucky gushed; he really was like a proud father. Wanda seemed a little taken aback by his excitement. She hadn’t really expected that from the mobster and if she was honest, it was rather overwhelming to meet Bucky Barnes, knowing that he was your father figure and he’d likely have her hung drawn and quartered if she ever hurt you, not that she would.

“She’s pretty.” Bucky whispered to you, holding the menu up near his face as he leaned in to your side. “Buck, she can hear you.” You giggled, lightly swatting his arm, Wanda smiling and blushing at the approval from Bucky.

Bucky peppered her with questions, but instead of them being intimidating and judgemental, they were from a place of genuine interest. He wanted to know where she was from, what it was like in Sokovia, asking her to even teach him a few words in Sokovian, which went hilariously when he tried to pronounce them in his strong Brooklyn accent. He wanted to know Wanda, wanted to know how you had met, things you liked to do together and you couldn’t be happier that he seemed to almost immediately accept Wanda as part of his slightly disjointed family.

“Right, well ladies,” Bucky smiled, putting down his paper napkin after wiping his mouth clean. “It’s been great to meet you over a milkshake Wanda, but I should get going and leave you two to enjoy the rest of your date. I have business to take care of.” Bucky grinned, getting up and immediately seeing Wanda’s features drop making you stifle a giggle. “Not that kind of business.” He added, winking at her. “I only do that kind of business on Fridays.” He added, making you almost choke on your drink. “Bucky!” You scolded through gritted teeth, though your demeanor instantly softened when he leaned in to kiss your cheek.

You and Wanda made your way out of the diner a few minutes later, walking hand in hand passed Bucky who was enjoying a cigarette before he got back into the car. Settling down on a bench not too far away, you and Wanda chatted and enjoyed each other’s company. “Meeting your dad was nice.” She smiled, reaching up to fiddle with some of your hair and push it away from your face. “I think he means well.” She giggled, rolling her eyes at how accidentally intimidating he had been. “Of course he means well, he was so excited to meet you.” You mirrored her smile as you took one of her hands into yours, your fingers gently tracing over her rings. “Perhaps he and Pietro should meet.” She hummed, leaning a little closer to you. “I’d like our families to get along.” Wanda added as she shuffled a little closer.

Bucky’s smile could only be described as proud and goofy as he caught a glimpse of you and Wanda kissing. It was so clear to him how much you loved each other and it warmed his heart that you had found someone like Wanda who made you so happy. Taking in a drag of his cigarette, Bucky looked away, resting his head up against the wall as he breathed out the smoke. A nearby mutter caught his attention, making him pause.

“That’s disgusting.” A man in his late forties scoffed, mouthing off to his friend as he glanced a few times over at you and Wanda. Bucky felt anger bubble inside of him, but his heart leapt when he saw the older man storming towards you Wanda.

Mid kiss, you were pulled away from Wanda by a heavy, cold hand and slammed back against the bench. You looked up at the man in shock, you’d had rude comments before, but that was new. “Filthy dykes.” He spat at you both, Wanda getting up from the seat to defend you. “You just pushed her and we’re filthy?” Wanda tried to get him away from you but he stayed firmly planted in front of you.

Bucky dropped his cigarette and ran towards the three of you, the man’s friend trying desperately to pull him away, apologising profusely, though it was falling on deaf ears as both you and Wanda were being berated for your public display of affection.

Shoving the guy back, Bucky got between him and you and Wanda, keeping you both behind him. “Fuck off you sympathiser.” The older man slurred, Bucky’s temper about ready to snap. “It’s Mister Barnes to you.” Bucky’s voice was low and full of warning, the older man suddenly looking up at him, eyes widening as he realised who he was talking to. “That’s my daughter you just called a… I don’t even want to say it.” Bucky spat, refusing to repeat the slur to him. “You’re disgusting.” Bucky towered over him, muscles tensing as he forced the man to back up against a wall.

“Bucky.” You called out for him, Wanda holding on to you tightly as she sunk against your side. You didn’t want to see him beat someone to near death and you certainly didn’t want Wanda to see him do it. “Shit, Bucky stop!” You cried out when you heard the crunch of his fist collide with his face. You gently pushed Wanda back as you ran towards Bucky.

“Buck stop!” you shouted over the two men, Bucky raising his arm to punch him again. “Dad, please.” The name caught his attention and Bucky paused, staring at the guy before glancing back over at you and Wanda. “Not here, not now.” You plead, Bucky immediately releasing his grasp on the guy and letting out a deep sigh. “I’ll hunt you down.” Bucky growled at him before shoving him away and turning back to you and Wanda.

Bucky’s features softened, you and Wanda practically clinging to one another. “M’sorry doll.” Bucky sighed, demeanor shifting back to his usual softness. “I’m sorry if I scared you.” He apologised, eyes landing on Wanda who just gave him a sweet smile. “Thank you for protecting us.” She nodded, stepping towards him. “I just- he called you a-.” Bucky stuttered out, pointed down the road at the guy as he stumbled away.

“I know, thank you Bucky.” You smiled, stepping forwards and hugging him. “I was just scared you’d beat him to death or something.” You let out a nervous giggle. “I was jus’ gonna rough ‘im up a bit for being a homophobic asshole.” Bucky shrugged, putting his arms around you both and squeezing you tightly against him.

“Now, I believe you both still have a date to go on.” Bucky changed the subject, walking you both over to the car. “Let me and Steve drop you off somewhere real fancy, it’ll beat this side of town.” Bucky sighed, glancing down the street. “Buck, we can’t afford something real fancy.” You quirked a brow. “It’s on me, doll.” Bucky smiled as Wanda slid into the back seat of the car, leaving you stood outside with Bucky. “You don’t have to do that, Bucky.” You shook your head. Chuckling softly and placing his hand down on your shoulder Bucky gently brushed some of your hair behind your ear. “I just probably scared the shit out of your girlfriend, I think I owe you.” He sighed, pulling you against his chest and hugging you tightly.

“Also you called me dad.” Bucky grinned proudly, poking you in the side. “It was a slip of the tongue.” You replied matter-of-factly, crossing your arms playfully. “Whatever ya say doll.” He sighed, opening the back door of the car for you. “Thanks, dad.” You smiled up at him, receiving a toothy, proud grin from Bucky. “Anything for you, darlin’.”

Summary:

Buck has been serving coffee to the guy he’s dubbed “Mr. Perfect” in his mind for a while, but despite his crush, it was never his intention to wind up lying to Mr. Perfect’s family and friends – including the very attractive brother – about being his boyfriend after Buck saved the guy’s life. But a misunderstanding at the hospital with a well meaning nurse puts Buck in a tough situation and he just keeps digging and digging a bigger hole for himself when he can’t figure out how to tell everyone the truth. To make things worse, it seems like the attractive brother is onto him.

Eddie took his parents straight to the hospital when they arrived early the next day. He could tell right away that his mom was freaking out and worried. His dad had always been better at hiding his feelings but even then Eddie could tell that he was tense. Eddie was glad that he wasn’t the one that had been tasked with calling them. Pepa had done that.

“He’s fine, mom,” Eddie said as they walked to the room. “He’ll be fine.”

Neither of his parents responded.

When they got to the room, his mom leaned over Andrew, kissing his cheeks and forehead. Eddie thought he heard her let out a sob. His dad walked over and placed a hand on his mom’s back. Eddie hung back just watching them as his mom sat down and his dad pulled up another chair to sit at her side.

“What happened exactly?” his dad asked suddenly, looking right at Eddie.

Eddie had no idea how much Pepa had managed to tell them. He just knew that they didn’t know anything about Buck.

“He was knocked over by someone on a bike while he was getting coffee. He hit his head when he fell and he would have been run over by a car except that Buck saved him. Pulled him out of the way and called 9-1-1.”

“Who’s Buck?” his dad asked.

His mom sobbed. “My poor boy.”

“Buck is—” Eddie trailed off. He still didn’t fully believe it. “He’s Andrew’s boyfriend.”

The way that his parents looked at him was how Eddie had first felt when he was told about Buck. Had the circumstances been different, he might have laughed.

“Boyfriend,” his mom said.

“I know,” Eddie said. “I know it’s...unexpected. But he’s a good guy and none of us knew about him before the accident.”

“So it’s new,” his dad said.

Eddie was well aware that his father struggled a little with understanding sexuality. He’d actually come a long way since Eddie came out as bisexual back when he was in his teens. But still, he could see confusion in his eyes like the idea that two of his sons being interested in more than one gender was a strange one to him. He’d had time to get used to Eddie being bi and even then it hadn’t really mattered after he met Shannon and got married and had Christopher.

“Well none of that matters,” his mom said. “I just want him to wake up and be okay no matter what he hasn’t told us. Right, Ramon?’

“Right.”

“My poor boy,” his mom said.

Eddie figured that any reservations would evaporate once they did meet Buck because everyone seemed to just fall for Buck’s charm. Eddie couldn’t really blame them.

When it was time to go pick up Christopher from school, Eddie left to get him with his dad while his mom stayed behind at the hospital.

“Y como estas tu, hijo?” his dad asked as they drove.

[“And how are you, son?”]

“Estoy bien. Me and Christopher, we’re doing fine. He’s happy here, you know. He has friends and his school is good. Took me a while to figure all of that out but Andrew helped — surprisingly. But we’re good.”

[“I’m fine…”]

“I think a father always worries,” his dad said. “Your mom and I just want you to be happy and after all that nonsense with Shannon—”

Eddie let out a sigh. “Things weren’t good but I guess it worked out in the end, dad,” Eddie said.

“I know they did,” his dad said. “She still hurt you and Christopher and it would have all been avoided if—”

“If I stayed in Texas,” Eddie finished for him with a sigh. “So that we could have been there waiting for her to never return? I wasn’t happy there, Dad. I needed to move on and LA has been good to me. Christopher too.”

“I know, son,” Ramon said.

Driving in LA meant always hitting some sort of traffic at any given time of day. It had been one of those things that Eddie had to get used to when he first moved. He didn’t really get frustrated over it any more, he just made sure to check the traffic before he went anywhere. It was practically a habit.

“So, your brother,” his dad said eventually. “He’ll be okay?”

“The doctors think so,” Eddie said. “They think he’ll wake up any day now. The swelling’s been going down.”

“Good. That’s good. We were worried when we got that call from Pepa. The two of you being firefighters and so far away—” his dad trailed off.

“We look out for each other,” Eddie said.

Christopher was glad to see his grandfather. He ran as fast as he could go with his crutches until he was in front of him.

“Abuelo,” he cried and Eddie watched them hug. “You’re here.”

Eddie had just enough time to take his dad and Christopher back to the hospital before he had to head to work. Christopher was happy to spend the rest of the day and night with his grandparents and Eddie walked them both to the hospital room as he ordered an uber to pick him up. He had to cancel the uber a second later when he found Chimney in the hospital room with his mom and willing to take him to work.

So Eddie hugged his parents and Christopher goodbye and left with Chimney.

“You could have told me you were coming by,” Eddie said.

“I didn’t know that I was,” Chim said with a shrug. “Anyway, I think we have enough time to pick up coffee. You know, your brother’s been spoiling us. Last shift, I missed the coffee from Coffee Time.”

Eddie rolled his eyes but he knew that Chim was right so he didn’t protest as Chimney took them on a detour and then he followed him inside the coffee shop. It wasn’t until they were inside that he remembered about Buck working there. Buck was there behind the counter passing a drink over to a boy and his mother, making small talk with the kid.

There was a small line that he and Chim joined but it moved quickly as people placed their orders. Buck didn’t even notice they were there as he worked and it gave Eddie time to watch him unnoticed.

Buck wore a dark red apron over his clothes. A matching hat sat on his head turned backwards and his bright blue eyes were fixed on the drinks that he was mixing and putting together but he must have been doing everything with muscle memory because he and the girl at the counter kept a stream of conversation between customers. Eddie and Chim were too far away to overhear what they might be saying, but Buck was smiling.

“Hi,” Chim said once they got up to the front. “Can I — hey, Buck.”

Buck turned and his eyes widened when he saw them. “Oh — what are you guys doing here?”

“Missing the coffee. Any way you can hook us up with Andrew’s usual order,” Chimney said. “Minus his coffee of course since he’s—” Chimney trailed off.

Buck’s surprise didn’t wear off and the girl from the counter was staring at both of them and then back at Buck until she cleared her throat and Buck visibly gulped.

“Right,” Buck said, “this is Chimney and Eddie. They work with Andrew. Well, Eddie’s also his brother.”

“Oh,” she said.

“And guys, this is my co-worker Ali.”

Eddie gave her a nod and she smiled back at them. “Hi.”

“I — I’ll get on that order, then,” Buck said.

“He seem a bit jumpy to you?” Eddie asked, watching him as he moved around with a little bit less finesse than before.

Chimney shook his head and then Eddie saw him pull out his phone. He turned in a way that meant Eddie couldn’t see his screen but Eddie was distracted by watching Buck work and he was surprised when Buck actually took out his phone as he worked. He lost some of the tension on his shoulders after glancing at his phone and then a few minutes later he had their order ready.

“How much?” Eddie asked because Chimney hadn’t.

“Don’t worry about it. On the house today,” Buck said with a grin.

Buck woke up that morning to sun streaming in through his window and hitting him in a way that meant that he wasn’t going to be getting any more sleep. Glancing at his phone told him that it was just sunrise and that he had a number of texts. First he clicked on the messages Pepa had sent.

I hope you’re having a good morning, Buck.

I was hoping to extend an invitation for dinner tonight. Andrew’s parents are visiting.

I know the circumstances are hard and you should have had the option of meeting them at a different time but they wish to meet and thank you.

If not tonight another night can work as well. Let me know. They will be here for the duration of the week. Maybe longer depending.

Andrew’s parents were in town. Buck dropped his phone on his chest and he didn’t move for a long moment even though he knew that he needed to if he planned to get to work on time. It was just that this was bringing in a whole new element to the problem. Andrew’s parents. Buck couldn’t lie to his parents.

“You already lied to everyone else,” Buck reminded himself.

Pepa had probably already told them about him. She’d lied for him.

Buck groaned. He rolled over and buried his face in his pillow. Maybe he could just stay right where he was and not answer anyone at all. His phone vibrated on the bed next to him and Buck had almost forgotten that he’d woken up to more than just Pepa’s messages. That usually wasn’t the case for him.

Hey, dude!

Last night was fun. The headache today not so much.

Good luck with the lies. 😆

Oh...this is Josh btw

Buck just shook his head. He didn’t even remember giving Josh his phone number but he didn’t mind. Josh wasn’t a bad guy and Buck appreciated having someone else know the truth especially since Josh found the whole thing hilarious.

Next came messages from Chimney.

Heads up: Andrew’s parents are arriving today.

What are you going to do?

“I don’t know, Chimney, I don’t know,” Buck muttered to himself.

Sending you good vibes, Buck. - Hen

Buck couldn’t help but smile at that. He really did like Hen. He didn’t want to lose her. And yet he would — that was just...it was the inevitable. It hurt him, thinking about it.

The last messages were from another unknown number.

Hi, Buck.

It’s Athena.

Just wanted to give you an update.

Andrew seems to be doing well. The doctors think he can wake up any day now.

Hope you’re doing well.

Buck let out a sigh. They just all made it harder and harder to not get attached and to not want to keep them. He just had to remind himself that he couldn’t and not because he didn’t want to but because his lie would destroy everything.

He didn’t bother to actually answer anyone mostly because he felt strange doing so and continuing to lie, but because he was also running late. He was lucky, he hadn’t been scheduled to open. By the time he made it to Coffee Time, Ali already had the place ready. She and Todd, one of the other baristas, were already dealing with the morning rush and when Buck clocked in and threw on his apron he went right to work alongside them.

It wasn’t until things quieted down some that Buck got to talk to Ali. He showed her all the texts from the morning.

“And you haven’t answered any of them? Buck, that’s so rude.”

“So is lying to everyone,” Buck said and he tried not to be too snappy.

Ali pat him on the back. “Hey, you got yourself into this. Maybe if you told the truth—”

“How can I? How can I just tell them I’ve been lying this entire time...how do you just come clean from that?”

Ali rolled her eyes at him. “One way or another the truth will come out and you’ll have to deal with it when it does.”

A customer approached so she turned away from him to take their order and Buck just let out a sigh. Todd was filling the order so it gave Buck some time to pull out his phone and start answering everyone.

To Pepa he was reluctant to say no even if the idea of meeting Andrew’s parents was daunting. He sent both Hen and Athena his thanks and then to Josh he just sent a thumbs up emoji.

I’m supposed to have dinner with them and the rest of the family.

What the hell am I supposed to do.

Thanks for the warning.

That he sent off to Chimney.

When it was just him and Ali after Todd had gone, Buck spoke about the whole thing more freely. He told Ali about Josh and how much Buck had no idea what to make of the guy.

“And that one is definitely gay,” Ali said.

Buck laughed at that. “Yes...so in all of this I did find a gay man. And no, I’m not interested in him.”

“It’s always been that with you,” Ali pointed out. “You’ve been in this funk ever since Abby and one thing I will say about all of this — the last few days, you’ve been happier. Stressed out, but happier.”

“I want to tell them,” Buck said and that was the truth. He did want to tell them. He just didn’t know how and it had been days since the whole thing started that bringing it up now would just make him look like nothing more than an asshole. But maybe that was the answer, maybe he had to be the bad guy and just never see any of them again.

When he said all that to Ali, she gave him a pitying look. “Maybe they’ll surprise you,” she said.

“Or maybe I just wait for Andrew to wake up and see where this all takes me.”

Buck was surprised later when he heard Chim’s voice. “Hi,” Chim said to Ali “Can I — hey, Buck.”

Buck looked at him and was even more surprised to see Eddie next to Chimney. “Oh — what are you doing here?”

Eddie’s lips quirked up in an amused manner. Chim gave no explanation. “Missing the coffee. Anyway you can hook us up with Andrew’s usual order,” Chimney said. “Minus his coffee of course since he’s—”

Buck could feel Ali’s eyes on him. She was flicking between him and the others and Buck could see that she was trying to figure out who they were exactly.

“Right,” Buck said, “this is Chimney and Eddie. They work with Andrew. Well, Eddie’s also his brother.”

“Oh,” Ali said and Buck knew her well enough to know that she was remembering how Buck had called Eddie the hot brother. Buck really needed to learn how to keep his mouth shut.

“And guys, this is my co-worker Ali,” Buck said.

Eddie gave her a nod and she smiled back at them. “Hi.”

“I — I’ll get on that order, then,” Buck said and immediately realized that he had no idea which of the coffees on the order was Andrew’s. He started making the full order anyway.

He felt his phone vibrate in his pocket and even though he usually didn’t check his phone while filling an order, he was hoping that Chimney had realized his mistake and sure enough Chimney sent him a list of the drinks he needed to make.

“How much?” Eddie asked when Buck had put the cups on a tray to carry out. Eddie was already reaching for his wallet but Buck shook his head at him.

“Don’t worry about it. On the house today,” Buck said with a grin.

“Thanks,” Eddie said and he lingered as Chimney grabbed the drinks.

“I guess there’s perks to this,” Chimney said.

“Uh, Buck, did Pepa invite you to dinner tonight? With my parents, I mean.”

Buck was surprised to hear it from Eddie but Buck nodded. “Yeah. She texted me this morning. I said I’d go.”

Eddie nodded. “Oh. Okay. I know it’s going to be awkward and all and I’m sorry about them ambushing you.”

“Eddie, come on, we gotta go,” Chimney said and he was already halfway to the door.

“Thanks again, Buck,” Eddie said and then he turned and followed Chimney.

Ali waited until Chim and Eddie had gone outside and even after Eddie had looked back at them through the glass window to wave before she turned to look directly at Buck. They were lucky there were no other customers around.

“So that’s the hot brother,” Ali said. “You were not kidding. And the other guy, he knows about the whole lie thing, right?”

Buck could only nod.

“Buck, this is really is messed up.”

Buck groaned. “Tell me about it.”

“What was that about?” Chim asked as they made it back to Chim’s car.

“What?” Eddie asked.

“Are you still suspicious of Buck?” Chim asked. “Or is it that you like him now? Because I couldn’t really tell what that was.”

It was that Eddie liked him. He liked him too much, was drawn in by how downright cute and hot Buck was and the paranoid part of him was a whole other thing and all of it was just a confusing mess in his head.

“I still don’t think Andrew is anything but straight,” Eddie answered as Chimney finally got them on the road and on the way to the station.

Due to his work shift, Eddie was actually going to miss the dinner that Pepa had planned for his parents and abuela. It was a bit of a relief, but then he also did feel for Buck a little and he kind of wished that he could be there to keep him from being drowned by questions.

“And so what do you think is happening?” Chimney asked after a moment. They were stopped at a red light and he looked towards him.

“I don’t know,” Eddie admitted. “I just — why would Buck lie? That’s where I’m stuck because he’s just...he’s like a golden retriever, okay, and I just don’t see what the point would be. I really don’t.”

He looked away from Chimney, keeping his eyes fixed on the street in front of them.

“I really don’t know, Ed. But Buck’s a good guy.”

On that, Eddie could agree and that was exactly the problem because if Buck was as good as he seemed, then it didn’t seem fair to not believe him. It was the Andrew of it all that didn’t make any sense. Or maybe Buck was lying and he was so good at it, that they just couldn’t see it.

Getting to the station and into his uniform put Eddie in a different state of mind. Bobby and Hen were already there hanging out in the kitchen so after changing he and Chim went up to join them. Things had been a bit different since Andrew’s accident, his absence was felt by all of them. Andrew had been a part of the 118 before Eddie moved to LA and joined the LAFD and so it was strange to not have him be there where he belonged.

“I brought drinks,” Chimney announced.

“Figured you’d take over for Andrew,” Hen said as she grabbed hers. “Was Buck there?”

Eddie nodded as he sat down. “He’s going to dinner at my aunt’s house tonight with my parents.”

“That’s gotta be rough on him,” Bobby said.

“It’ll be rough on all of them, Cap,” Eddie said because as well meaning as his parents could be, they were already dealing with Andrew being in a coma and might not deal well with meeting a guy that claimed to be their straight son’s boyfriend. Or they would just love Buck.

Notes: The parents are in town! I originally didn’t plan on having them show up but then it makes a lot of sense for them to come running when their son is in a coma and we’ll see some more of them in the next chapter.

1. What is your favourite book and/or book series of all time?

oh maybe everything leads to you by nina lacour! it just really gets to me

2. What is the longest book you have ever read? How many pages?

uhh idk what’s the longest harry potter book bc probably that? i dont... read books that long usually

3. What is the oldest book you have ever read? (Based on its written date)

ummm i think and then there were none by agatha christie? i dont keep track by time tbh but i dont read that many old books bc i tend to have trouble reading them

4. What is a book series that everyone else loves but you do not?

the raven cycle lol

5. What book or book series would you like to see turned into a film/ TV series?

oh god most of them? 99% of the lesbian ones for sure. percy jackson would make an excellent animated movie series imo. i’m clearly biased but tasu/teota would be great on screen.

6. What is your favourite stand-alone book?

most of the gay ones i read are standalones and theres so many good ones... i already said everything leads to you but we are okay and you know me well are also extremely good! of fire and stars killed me as well.

7. What is a book that you feel glad for not reading?

god. straight ones? ones that i heard are racist or homo/lesbo/bi/transphobic, but in general i’m picky abt what i read bc i don’t read that many books.

8. What is a book that you feel guilty for not reading?

i was gonna say i don’t feel guilty about not reading books i don’t like/don’t want to but that’s a lie- babe if ur reading this i am SO sorry i never finished the last chaos walking book

9. What is a book you have read that is set in your country of birth?

most of them lol that’s what i get for living in america. i read we are okay pretty recently which takes place in new york, the state i was born in, so that’s a bit more specific.

10. What is a book that you own more than one copy of?

i have 2 copies of redwall for no reason other than my high school library was selling one for a dollar so i bought it even tho i had it already. i have a couple copies of some of the a wrinkle in time books bc i got some of them as gifts a bunch.

11. What horror book made you really scared?

omg i don’t read horror but that one skulduggery pleasant short story about bubba moon or whatever freaked me the fuck out tbh

12. What book do you passionately hate?

um i haven’t read enough terrible books to say i hate them that passionately? but i rly kinda hated trc. oh yeah i read the first c*aptive pr*nce book in hs on the recommendation of a friend and it just made me so uncomfortable the entire time i really. did not have a good time with that one and i wish i hadn’t read it

13. What is the biggest book series you have read? How many books are in it?

skulduggery pleasant! theres 9 books plus short stories i still can’t believe i read all those

14. What book gives you happy memories?

aw sabrina answered this with the flywheel by erin gough and i have to say the same bc she sent it to me for my birthday, full of annotations of thoughts and jokes she made herself AND got it signed by the author, and i’ve uhhhh never felt so loved in my life

15. What book made you cry?

oh the book thief for sure. everything leads to you made me cry a bunch while rereading it even tho its not sad? thos were love tears. that happens a lot actually.

16. What book made you laugh?

skulduggery pleasant! there’s so many good lines in that one. my dad used to always hand me a book he’d just read and tell me to read a certain chapter he found hilarious but i never read the whole book but he always found hilarious memoirs too.

lmaoo like all the books i read are gay? the abyss surrounds us/the edge of the abyss have really unique lesbian characters because they’re so angry and vindictive and dumb and interesting and DRAMATIC so that one gets a shout out

what the fuck is that (ok i legit just finished reading when the moon was ours by anna marie mclemore tho bc my gf rec’d it and it was p good)

does fantasy count? bc then of fire and stars. uhh chaos walking is on a new planet. a wrinkle in time involves other planets too! wow i’m crushing this one

20. Have you ever been glad to not finish a series? Which?

the raven cycle lol i thought it was a finished trilogy when i started the first book so i just never read the last one and i am so relieved

21. Have you ever read a book series because you were pressured?

not really? i don’t really feel pressure, i value recommendations from my girlfriend friends way more than things that are trending or popular. i’ve read a couple that i blindly picked from internet lists that i didn’t care for tho but that was really a while ago

pretty much any author we were supposed to read in high school. any classic or even modern famous author i probably haven’t read. i’ve read like a dozen books ever

23. Who is your favourite author of all time?

tbh nina lacour is really up there. when i was really young it was definitely gail carson levine. i rly loved anne ursu’s books as well.

24. How many bookshelves do you own?

only one! and a bunch of boxes that i never unpacked after we moved like 3 years ago. my mom wants to put a big wall bookshelf in our house somewhere bc this one didn’t come with any like our last house did but who knows if that’ll happen.

ohhh i don’t read much of this genre. i always avoided it as a kid and i’ve been meaning to get into it more but i haven’t yet. i’m really looking forward to reading a sally ride biography tho

the chronus chronicles by anne ursu were my JAM in elementary/middle school omg. i also really loved the may bird series which i didn’t read until high school.

28. What is your next book on your TBR?

i’m about to start georgia peaches and other forbidden fruit finally! my gf bought me 10 things i can see from here and i love her so whenever that arrive i’m probably gonna devour that. i want to reread a wrinkle in time soon since the trailer comes out this weekend! plus a million others

29. What book are you currently reading?

i literally just finished when the moon was ours which felt like it took me ten years to read and i haven’t started another yet but it’ll be georgia peaches bc thats the other one i got from the library and i already had to renew them haha

30. What book are you planning on buying next?

um this old west lesbian novel called backwards to oregon! i’ve been craving westerns lately but as always i’m also craving gay content

31. What was the cheapest book you bought?

i used to buy a ton of old paperbacks, usually goofy looking sf or fantasy novels from library sales for dollars or quarters so definitely those.

32. What was the most expensive book you bought?

i can tell u the most expensive book i got for free was a beautiful bound collection of hg wells stories that i just got from some book at bea before it was bookcon lol

nah i usually have no intention of reading the book if i watched the show/movie first

akdjghksjgh a lesbian western novella called from the boots up for a few bucks on kindle

the rest of the gay books i’ve bought but haven’t read yet! not your sidekick and labyrinth lost, i’m VERY excited to reread a wrinkle in time and i also really want to read stone butch blues

crush by sr silcox has the cutest lesbian teen summer romance AND one them is secretly a rock star avoiding her fame bc her controlling dad was turning into HIS dream instead of HERS akdjghksdjgh its fantastic i adored it

for some reason dave at night by gail carson levine popped into my head first? that was my favorite as a kid and i reread it all the time and i think it took place in the 20s or 30s with all that good good jazz shit

aw inspired is a serious word to throw around. the miseducation of cameron post, idk if it “inspired” me but it was my first lesbian novel and that really did a lot for me.

i think it was a wrinkle in time! or maybe roald dahl books before that, but a wrinkle in time was definitely up there, and maybe the shadow thieves by anne ursu
