(Blood Packs / Life Loss appear to be reworked.)

Bonding and Dissolving > Formerly Ketsugou [Union]

Changing and Swaying > Formerly Shousei [Ignition] (Also Derived from Henshitsu [Deterioration])

Haul and Heed > Formerly Ken'in [Traction] (Was also a Forcebreak Evasive move Kihi [Evasion] at one point.)

Intertwine and Tilt > Derived from Shoukyaku [Erasure] / Kashitsu [Accident]

Menace and Groan > Masshou [Excision] Restriction and Constraint > Fukumetsu [Ruination] (Also partially derived from Dangoku [Damnation], the final hit in her Rekka combination...)

Frenzy and Astonishment *NEW Move* (Likely partially derived from Danzai [Conviction] due to its Super Armor Properties...)

Judgement and Sentiment (Fully Derived from Danzai [Conviction] the move itself)

The Law is Key, Key is King *NEW Move* (Likely partially derived from Henshitsu [Deterioration] but is also a variant of Shoukyaku [Erasure] in the animation)

Jealous Rage (The Law is Key, Key is King) *ALSO New Move* (Partially derived from Houshoku [Engorgement])

Keeper of the Key (Derived from Shouko: Intoku [Evidence: Concealment])

Final Note: For the most part she's been revamped for Strive's Mechanics, not to mention probably has a new Wild Assault and probably isn't as affected by *Knockdown Syndrome* as she used to be (hopefully).

It always kills me that people forget that ky, dizzy, and sin were definitely going to get killed had their relationship gone public before xrd.

Like the entire point of blackmailing ky into kingship. I don’t blame people though, fighting game lore is infamously inaccessible.

Yeah and the short story that covers the main chunk of this lore is hidden away in an obscure (Japanese language only) art book for a game a lot of people that got in with Strive don't even know exists. I think it's briefly mentioned in Xrd somewhere too? But even then, like, unless someone's a Ky fan then it's a line or two easily forgotten

Welp. The vet was very kind enough to give my guide dog an arthritis shot for free today and if this helps her I will be going into debt every month until she dies. I hope it helps her feel better. Old lady has done a lot for me in these nine years and I hope she can do one last big trip in a few months. The vet actually started crying and for a second I thought she was going to suggest we do something else for Petey. o_o But she was just really moved by how much this dog means to me and paid the bill for the shot out of her own pocket and waived the vet visit fee. It was really sweet. I still had to put about $90 on my credit card for antibiotics (she's got a skin infection again) but not having to pay an additional $160 on top of that helped.

Today was long and I'm tired and sad that my good buddy is getting so old. I dunno how long she really has left but I'll do my best to make it as good as my broke ass can manage. She's a damn expensive medical device (was already costing me about $200 a month as is and I live on a fixed poverty income) but I love her and she's worth more than money to me.

your rake’s progress post just reminded me of this - a fun dan fact i remember from reading the gossip girl books a while back that i wish had been carried over into the show was that two of dan’s very favorite books were goethe’s faust and oscar wilde’s the picture of dorian gray. in the context of the book this is just a meaningless little bit of trivia/character shading as book!dan is unequivocally the character most removed from the upper east side and never even attempts to integrate into it, but it’s the sort of thing that would have been really interesting in the context of show!dan, who even before the shitty season six gossip girl reveal found himself increasingly drawn into the moral decay of the UES and caught between who he thought he should be and what he actually wanted

and it would be such a fascinating detail to show!dan, because he does have that arc, of descending and being drawn down and the deals he makes to become a part of that world carrying away his sense of self.

the show does seem to tie him to Fitzgerald in this way -- or maybe that's just fanon I've accepted as canon lmao. Fitzgerald (by extension Nick Carraway) being this outside observer of a fantastical world of affluence, but then being pulled deeper and deeper in until he's a fixture of it himself. he becomes too attached, and takes on the tragedies of these over privileged people as his own, until they destroy themselves, and a piece of him is destroyed with them.

Annon-Guy: Out of four the characters with an Easy to Use Rating of One Star (Jack-O', Zato-1, Asuka and Chaos), who would you say is the most difficult to master between the four characters in question?

It's funny you ask me that:

Jack-O' was actually easier to play as and learn in Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator than her current incarnation of Strive (most of my issues when playing her is the fact her servant command inputs come out regardless of whether or not servants are even present, and that makes me drop inputs easily, I wish they'd fix that one day...).

Asuka is... a challenge to learn starting out... but once you pick up the flow for his Decks, picking up on situations intuitively and setting up situations with your spell decks isn't as tough as it sounds at first glance.

It helps to read plenty of guides on these characters, to be honest, but even then, it boils down to practice, which might take years for some players (myself included).

Zato / Eddie has always been a technical character from day one... but once you get past the initial hangups of his style, it's not that hard to intuit how he plays... but mastering it is another matter entirely... only high level players can really take advantage of his offensive powers.

Okay... Happy Chaos... what to say...

He got nerfed several times in patch updates throughout his tenure as a character, so that's not something to laugh at. He's THAT powerful in potential scraps.

It's only a matter of time before they come up with the "perfect balance" for his fighting style in relation to the roster. I find him fun to play as too, personally. He's like my dark muse at times.

In terms of learning how to play him, it's actually NOT that hard in terms of resource management, in fact he's probably easier to pick up than Asuka is... but maintaining his matchups is the challenge in his case.

If I'm being honest, the characters I struggle the most with aren't even the hardest characters to play as... it's more along the lines of being familiar with matchups now than it is how to learn the characters.

GG Strive has a strange effect on the roster, because most characters are so easy to pick up.

That is to say, as a result: everyone KNOWS how to fight these characters, so that makes the matchups and meta knowledge all that harder to apply and get wins from.

As someone who lost plenty of matches in this game, I can tell you that the longer this game exists, the tougher it's going to get for players starting out.

You really have to choose who you practice against.

Ideally, you want someone who can teach you how to improve, and not someone who mops the floor with you to the point of absolute confusion.

That means picking your opponent that is close to if not exactly near your current skill level.

My advice: get close friends to play this game with and just bounce ideas off them as much as you possibly can... do the research, do the labbing (practice), and just keep playing.

The game's rabbit hole gets deeper the longer you play.

Daisuke's technical skill on the A.B.A. pieces in the GGX art book are amazing so I'll just post all of them here. The one of her in the factory (the second one here) is probably my favorite though. The subdued palette and especially detailed background stand out compared to Daisuke's usual work. He laments in a few of the captions that they didn't let him draw backgrounds often and it's such a shame because he's got an incredible grasp on manipulating perspective for dramatic angles/compositions. I'd love to know how much reference he used for stuff like that or if he had to do a lot of studies to get it right:
