discussion: perception of her lord husband.

alright, i'm gonna try my best to keep this short (whilst also might be slightly controversial) — but easily? i think rhea and da3mon may actually have one of the more unique, though clearly overlooked, dynamic that could've ever existed, and this does intertwine with her perception of daemon in particular.

now i don't actually take the series' confrontation of them as canon (if you'd like to write rhea dying, i'd rather you refer to her scene in the book) but it is still completely interesting nevertheless. and you might be like, "well, why is it interesting, bella?" and i shall tell you, that it is interesting because rhea was able to deduce da3mon's motivation in under two minutes. and that is so cathartic to see.

i'm not sure if you've ever read the phrase: the terrifying ordeal of being known*, but it is single-handedly the closest thing i could compare their dynamic to, even though they have like, 0.1% interactions throughout the series and the books.

and this is because, i believe, both rhea and da3mon had had to go through such a massively horrible ordeal of being forced into this marriage neither of them clearly wanted, and because both of them could not take it out on the system that has allowed this, they were both forced to take it out on each other. which ultimately led to their estrangement, but not before, i believe, rhea and da3mon had had to somewhat hurt and dismantle one another first.

da3mon came out of the marriage calling his wife a 'bronze bitch' which is such an interesting nickname in correlation to rhea's other reputation — 'a good and honourable lady' and how 'her kind… is not soon to be seen again' — because, in all honesty, he could've had any other nicknames for her. he could've called her demure. he could've called her a weakling. he could've insinuated that maybe she was any other way or form weaker or lesser (in intelligence, or status) than he is. but he doesn't. she was just, quite simply, a bitch.**

and thus — da3mon had had the experience to witness rhea at her worst, which earned her the title, when everyone's perception of rhea is entirely too different. to him, she was a bitch - plain and simple. and so, one could argue that da3mon knew a version of rhea not many see. at least, beyond the side of her that's noble and honest or some attributes that were always praised by? then certainly he's had an insight to the uglier side of her that's bitter and angry and resentful.

and rhea? i think rhea, herself, has a very unique perspective on da3mon because she's not only someone of his peer and has an (arguably) equal social status to him - she's also not blinded by history, familial ties, blood, lust, or his fear tactics. which left rhea to do only one thing: to see da3mon as he is. to acknowledge his privilege, his status, his power, and to have to learn how to meet him head-on, whenever they do.

tl;dr — this is clearly a controversial take, but i did forewarn that i think they both present a very delicious dynamic that's under-explored. and that dynamic consisting of both of them having probably seen each other at their worst, surviving past that, which left them to only confront the version of them that's left (that has no ceremony, no embellishment, no fanfare) - simply the truth.

Some people seem to search for actions like kissing, hugging, confessions, in order to confirm whether something was supposed to be romantic or not. But then, the absence of such cues make them arrive at conclusions that ignore other forms of relationship-building interactions all together :(

I think a lot of discussions would be made better by recognizing that masculinity and femininity aren't inherently preferred, but adherence to cishet standards is, which is slightly different.
