✧ I won’t really write descriptions for these, but see original post tags for explanation/commentary on the song snippet ✧
#hghh trying to use the most kind of obnoxious voice things (like the background high piched thing. the duck quacks. the weird gurgly baby#voice. etc.) but together in one thing#just goofing around as always. (also it's not edited - I can just actually make that weird baby sounding voice lol)#though the main tune that the gugrly voice sings sounds familiar to me. I wonder if it's actually from somewhere#then again I do feel like 90% of the time I'm secretly plagarizing or someting and just dont realize it because#I know so little about music and musicians and genres and etc. I could probably easily rip off#a song I hard once when I was 8 years old and don't remember at all lol. Esepcially since I'm doing these in literally usualy#like less than 10 minutes and thus would not spend time doing research or trying to find similar songs or something lol#But like I think Iv'e said before.. I don't really think it matters in this context#I'm just being silly and experimenting with things obviouslly none of these are meant to be professional level#songs . I'm not trying to become a musician or sell albums or something. I'm just having fun#messing with concepts because it's interesting to my brain. The same way of the whole like .. detach your hobbies from capitalism and stuff#and if you enjoy something just do it anyway. Even if you can't paint very well (in terms of objective artistic skill) and you have cheap#materials and never have any good creative ideas and there's no way you could ever turn it into a career or make money out of it - IF YOU#ENJOY IT.. do it anyway!!! It's not about skill or making profit or being good or marketable. it's just about expressing yourself#in whatever way you want and having fun!#Now for example like - my sculptures or something - I do actually spend hours and hours on those and I try to make them#nice and I have sold them before - so if I blatanty ever copied someone's sculpture idea with one of mine or something#I would take it a lot more seriously and etc. because that's actually more of an important craft for me#that I should have standards for. But I'm looser with stuff like this because the nature of it is more like#.. my one silly hobby that I am actively NOT trying very hard at or trying to monetize and thats the POINT#to have one thing I can be chill and relaxed and just not care about. ANYWAY.. so hgnn... sometimes these sound to me#like things I've heard before and I'm paranoid or something but then also like... eh lol#beepo tag

I am not into musicals, but 'Spirited' just may be the single best ADULT christmas movie musical EVER.
I mean, the fucking set pieces ALONE. Seriously, this movie must have been expensive as FUCK.
Either way, as I said: I ain't into musicals. And there were two shitty parts of this movie: Will Farrel can NOT sing. Carry a tune? Sure. Make it a pleasant one? Not really... And it is LAYERED. There are so many plots and subplots, it's a lot to take in. It's not overdone, but WAY more backstory and info than a typical christmas movie. You kinda gotta pay attention. Especially cuz they make a lot of references to previous scenes/jokes.
Anyways, I am going to try to stay away from giving away too much, cuz it is worth every fucking second. I mean, fuck, I LOATHE dance numbers, and mother fuckers: I was THOROUGHLY impressed with the dance pieces. They were clearly months of training professionals. Turns out, I kinda like tap. To get this many people, this coordinated, this..perfect. Unimaginable skill from the entire staff.
I will try to stay away from specific details, but these plot points do give a lot away so SPOILERS!
How 'Adult'?
1-one of the FIRST BIG NUMBERS, they make a light joke about being on molly.
2-a ghost fucks a human. That actually happens in this film.
3-Say 'fuck you' as many ways as possible without saying it (good afternoon).
4-talk seriously about online bullying.
5-talk seriously about letting kids be kids (not holding every little thing they do wrong over their head)
6-confront kid suicide from bullying. They do not outright SAY it, but they point that at it in every direction.
7-show how adults can, indirectly, use kids to harm other kids.
8-expose how businesses/politicians use misinformation and divisions to control and profit. (I told you there were a LOT of layers to this movie)
9-Adult suicide.
10-<BIGGEST SPOILER OF THE WHOLE MOVIE> They KILL the main character. Like, you NEVER see it coming.
There's plot holes galore, but you don't fucking care. You enjoy yourself the entire time. One of the few times I wasn't checking how much was left of the movie.
Spirited: 9.2/10. A near PERFECT movie. It has something for everyone. Literally.
ps-Fav part? I don't have just one. 3-Will farrel singing. He CAN NOT sing, but, because of that, it actually makes the whole thing feel a lot more real. Authentic. Cuz if they autotuned him....ew. 2-the ending. Cuz I had a lot of guesses, and I wasn't actually that close. I am notorious for figuring out endings on little info, and I didn't see this one's coming. 1-I mentioned it before, but I was right. The funniest moment of the movie, but, you need the build up of ALL the rest of the movie to make it THAT funny. When the taxi driver says 'good afternoon'. That is one of the funniest moments of ANY movie. I PROMISE you will laugh.

Puédo pedir cómo serían los chicos de Tw con mc cómo Chrollo Lucifer y se enteran que tenien un libro que roba habilidades🕴?
Warnings: mentions of Canon typical violence
Word count: 440
Pairings: Ruggie Bucchi & gn!reader, Epel Fulmier & gn!reader, Lilia Vanrouge & gn!reader
Tumblr media
His immediate thought when he hears that you can steal abilities is about all the different ways he could use this as a moneymaking scheme
So needless to say, Ruggie is very interested
Would try and convince you to steal people’s magic and ransom it
With his help of course
So he can take half the profit
Argues that Azul does it all the time so why shouldn’t you as well
It’s simply a smart business decision
And since it’s a book that allows you to steal people’s magic, it would extremely difficult for anyone to track down who the thief was
Would give you a list of people that would be easy pickings and would never figure out the culprit
Ruggie may even try and use his best puppy dog eyes to convince you.
Tumblr media
“Could you steal Vil’s magic for me? I want to join Savanaclaw.”
Would pout slightly if you denied him, but he understands you don’t want to get in trouble
Definitely would try and convince you to use it on people who call Epel “cute” or “pretty”
You’d be the brains to his brawn
Epel would do all the heavy lifting, even if it meant he’d need to fight people. Especially if it meant he would get to fight people.
All you’d have to do is come up with the plan
Epel considers trying to start a business with you to rival the one Azul has with the Leech twins
Of course after sitting down with you to plan it out you realized that the potential profits from the business wouldn’t be worth it
Money can buy a lot of things but a new rib cage, heart and lungs to replace the ones Floyd would pulverize if you went through with it?
Definitely not on the market.
Tumblr media
Lilia just thinks you’re the neatest little thing
Being able to steal people’s magic is quite the skill
He delights in helping you harness any abilities you previously stole
However Lilia is a tiny bit wary of allowing you near Malleus
Yes, the prince is very powerful, but if someone took away his magic?
Lilia knows Malleus would be fucked
So with that precaution in his mind Lilia decides that it’s his solemn duty as Malleus’s retainer to keep you and your ability far away from the prince
Mostly by having you steal other peoples magic instead
Usually as a part of one of Lilia’s many pranks
After Leona’s Overblot plot was foiled Lilia probably had you steal Leona’s magic for a good couple weeks to teach the spoiled house cat lion prince a lesson about abusing his power

I’ll admit, when I saw an ask in my inbox that wasn’t in English I was surprised and very very happy. That my writing is enjoyed by people outside of the little linguistic bubble I write in fills me with joy and also admiration. Because I know how hard it can be to not only learn a language, but also how difficult it can be to try and use a translator online to read things. Those German research papers I wanted to use for a citation assignment still haunt me.
Since doing all the boys for this post was a bit too much, I just did three of my favourite Twst boys to write for. Hope you’re okay with that!
Anyway thank you for reading this far Dears, and remember, if you enjoyed this post consider checking out previous wishes or make a wish of your own. No matter what language you speak.
Sincerely, Jupiter

💼 for tovera… like, what’re the mages gonna do?
This is a good question, and funnily enough, it's actually answered in text- mages often just kinda have magic versions of normal jobs (if they're Torchbearers) but this is years off so I might as well share it now, plus I think the main cast would be unable to profit off of their skills in an IRL context/without their magic prowess also backing it up, so I'll answer it in like. AU terms? Normal AU terms? Everyone is a human college/middle/high school student with nothing funky going on AU terms? lol
Anyways, what-if normie jobs under the cut:
Luana- Honestly, I could see her doing generic office work-it's monotonous, but it's a rigid schedule that she can work with and isn't taxing on the body, plus she should make decent enough money for a decent apartment. If not that, I can see her being a veterinarian, an assistant to one, or even a museum curator. I think she's passionate enough about history/science to cave in to student loan debt to be able to be one-and knowing her, she'd find a way to knock it in half before she's out. Somehow.
Floris- Well, he's a prince, so his job is...politics, looking pretty, and studying history/economics to make use of his position. Considering his arc in the story, however, I can also see him being a nerd eventually, instead aiming for a history adjacent degree like Luana-or even a culinary one. He also is a killer tailor, quilter, and a decent cobbler, so I can also see him eventually opening a super pricey (yet well made/long lasting) clothing/blanket/shoe store-like a mom n pop on a bougie shop strip.
Yolotli- Yolotli is a fan of nature and animals, like Luana-but she's more spunky and risk-taking, which means unlike someone who likes routine and a set in stone job, Yolo would take up zookeeping 100%. Luana is kinda like the Lisa Simpson of the guild in that she's big on considering the ethics/logic of things, so she draws the line at medicinal work with animals, wanting nothing to do with wild ones put in cages/enclosures-Yolotli, as empathetic as she is, however, would take any opportunity to get up close and personal with animals, considering she has jaguar dysphoria in universe. IRL, I suppose this would manifest as her being a furry in her free time. I could see her being involved in the fandom 100%, going to cons and doing commissions and the like.
Calisto- Calisto hates mage work, and if he had it his way, he'd be an engineer of some kind, even in universe, so yeah, engineer. Civil or mechanical. He's a big vehicle guy. He likes knowing how parts work and how to put them together. Knowing him, he'd go to college for it and try to worm his way into designing local bridges and buildings before moving on to cars or something. Unlike his friends, he's not the outdoorsy type, and is big on urban life, so he'd also appreciate that his job takes him away from animals and ecosystems and is more about life in a concrete jungle rather than a real one.
Amber- Amber is a teen, going into high school if this was IRL, so she'd be studying. In universe, she's training to be a priestess that provides healing services/bendiction in her communities and priestesses are given room and board by the Fellowship of the Founder's institutes, but later on in the story she uses holy magic in magic-based tech she made herself-for offense and defense AND healing. As such, I can see her following in Calisto's footsteps, though she'd definitely be more on the civil engineer side-I think she'd feel awful/too guilty to make weaponry for a magicless!Tovera's army/navy/air force.
Miguel+Milagro- Easy-Miguel's a necromancer, and he actually enjoys dealing with death and easing people's fears of it. In fact, this is his job in universe too-a mortician! His kind demeanor makes letting go of people easier in universe, and also draws ghosts to him, so I think that IRL this would mean that people would kill to have him take care of their dead loved ones.
As for Milagro...well, he's a guild member too, but he's been dead for a while now. He was alive at the apex of the Tonatiuh Empire, Tovera's equiv of the Aztec Empire. I suppose this means whatever his social status was in his own alt history version of the empire, it translates to IRL too. He was a pilli-a noble, and taught pilli children their basic education. It is in his line that Heliodoro, born of Quetzalchimalli (a god of death, justice, and mercy) and Leticia, a woman in the family, would fight off the colonizers of the land and bring peace to it-so he and Miguel would be HUGE figures IRL just like they are in universe, as they share kinship with this legendary figure. However, unlike in universe, he'd be dead and gone, and the two wouldn't be an inseparable mage/familiar pair they are in universe.
Gloria- She's the maid for the prince, but she eventually becomes a maid for the guild so that they can focus on making mulah-they all feel so guilty about her job that they clean after themselves as best as they can though.
I suppose that maids/personal aids as a job hasn't gone away-she'd still be by the prince's side, though since she's friends with these people, she'd maybe send them some sweets from within castle walls or something. Also, it's worth mentioning that head butlers are bad bitches within the servant rankings of nobility/royalty-so she lives very well for a hospitality worker, even having her own aids and the like. She kinda lives like an upper class woman from the suburbs, though she's more outdoorsy than she is a shopper.
Thanks for asking! This was fun to think up :3c I have half a mind to draw it all out, but alas, I need to focus on the VNs and get the big fish done already.

Work Smart, Not Hard - The Sweet Spot
3 Top Tips To Enhance Work Ethic & Genuine Fulfilment
Sound daunting doesn’t it? ‘Work smart not hard’
Tumblr media
Well, not for us; probably for the people you’re working for.
To my clients...welcome to my not-so-secret, secret.
To my readers, prepare to be shown a way of working that will not only enhance your results, but will help you actually enjoy what you’re doing.
That’s the goal right? To wake up excited for your day.
Anyways, you’re welcome in advance.
Disclaimer: I’m well aware that not everyone has the luxury to up and leave their jobs to live their dreams. But, that is not to say that you should disregard your goals, boundaries and beliefs. Because if you do, you’ll never leave the rat race.
The First Tip
I mean, not to state the obvious, but you should probably do something you enjoy...
“I don’t know what I enjoy!”
You naturally enjoy what you’re good at.
I like maths. Not because the square root of 81 is the most exciting thing in the world. But because it makes sense to me, and getting the answer right gives me fulfilment that I don’t feel elsewhere.
The answer is 9 incase you’re trying to figure it out, focus.
So, you find out what you’re at.
“I’m not good at anything”
Experiment. You will never know if you don’t try.
That project you’ve been putting off for God knows how long? Start it.
That hobby that’s been on your to do list for a gazillion years. Try it out.
In the words of Drake, you only live once (YOLO).
Somebody definitely said it before him but I mean...why would I turn down the opportunity to quote Drake?
Adopt the YOLO lifestyle and try anything and everything.
Oh and, it’s never too late to start. Morgan Freeman starred in his first movie at 43. Yep, Mr Morgan Freeman.
Tip Number Two
Assuming you’ve conquered numero uno, we now come to a mindset change.
Whatever you’ve been taught about work, school, forget it.
How does that saying go? All work, no play. Yeah, f*** that noise.
Despite what we’ve been taught, work can actually be fun? I know right, who knew!
You have to understand some things about yourself. Your boundaries, your goals and your beliefs.
Your boundaries: “I am not willing to work a 9-5 because I work better from 4-12.”
So what positions can you now put yourself in to work those hours?
People are working from 12am-3am and getting the same amount of work done as the 9-5ivers because that is their personal optimal. If the business you’re working for doesn’t support that boundary, find one that does. Or better yet, create one!
Your goals: “I want location freedom and an extra £1000 a month by the end of 2023″
I know location freedom sounds like a mystery. But after COVID-19, if you haven’t started your own business, then the freedom of working remotely has never been easier. Thus, location freedom has become a very realistic option.
(I hate that word by the way, you won’t hear it much in this blog)
Despite popular belief, you can make more than an extra £1000 a month. Like way more.
I think everyones aim, if you’re not already doing what you’re destined to do, should be to get out of what you’re doing by exploring your side hustles and learning new skills. An extra £1000 is extremely easy to make, that could be an extra 2 hours work a week after signing a client. That could be profit from selling a high ticket product or service. Or even social media, if that’s your thing.
Your Beliefs: “I believe that my skill set is worth more than what it’s being valued at in my current role”
The longer you fight your beliefs, the easier it will be for other people to infiltrate them.
I’m going to need you all to remember that you are replaceable in any role at a company. There are probably 100′s of people with your degree, with your experience, with your skills lining up for your job.
My advice? Let them have it.
Wherever you are replaceable, you aren’t going to be valued the way you should be. Not to mention companies nowadays would rather rehire than retrain.
Very weird, not my cup of tea.
Moral of the story, go where you’re loved and valued.
That’s general life advice too.
Tip Number Three
OK. So you like what you do, and you’re respecting all of your boundaries, goals and beliefs.
Now? Have fun with it!
As humans, we are prone to believing that the grass is greener on the other side.
But you’re here to learn that It’s actually greener where you water it. AKA, right here.
Picture this: now you’re working smart, your work has become easy, almost natural and you put your all into it.
The quality of your work has improved immensely as a result. It’s no longer a chore, you wake up happy, fresh.
What people fail to mention is, It’s not always going to feel perfect. But we need to appreciate how far we’ve come and learn how to enjoy where we are right now. You’ll never value the sunshine without a little rain.
Now, go kick some can. I’ll see you when I see you.

Passive President
Whoever’s causing people to be sad about so many kinds of brokenness really hates Joe Biden.  The phantom jerk holds a personal grudge against our dear president.  Hurting this pitiful executive’s feelings is particularly cruel when he’s trying to save us from being glad we can’t afford to buy things because they’d be stolen, anyway.
Everything just happened to fall apart in January 2021.  Life turned chaotic at the most random moment.  Biden didn’t ask for this burden aside from running for and winning the presidency.  Next, you’ll flaunt enough nerve to claim he did a bunch of dumb things to make life suck.
Thorough disorder occurs by pure chance.  Rough times are uncannily happening during an administration that thinks it should run every last life aspect.  Take how airlines suddenly can’t make airliners work.  Did you ever suddenly forget how to button a shirt?  Maybe those who own a bunch of jets started thinking about something they did routinely and didn’t realize how they had been doing it.
I find it difficult to believe professional plane outfits suddenly forgot how to move humans through the sky.  Those foolish enough to attempt to engage in transit endure coincidental stasis while every conglomerate that sticks to the land struggles with conditions, too.
It’s not like the clouds are suddenly filled with green slime that halts forward movement.  Feeling grounded overlaps with a transportation secretary doing for the skies what he did for everything underneath them in South Bend.  Pete Buttigieg’s favorite hobby of blaming businesses coping with his incompetence makes him the prototypical White House staffer.
Sellers are suddenly deep into gouging.  It sure is baffling that they didn’t profiteer under the previous greedy Republican administration.  One skilled in conspiratorial theorizing might note it would’ve been easy to get away with greedy margins back in those awful times when buyers checked which outlets offered the best products at the most agreeable prices.
Corporations waiting to gouge until a president they loathe took office shows just how ideological they are.  Gas stations apparently have a personal grudge against Biden.  Class warfare nature enthusiasts living in civilization enjoy the hobby of assailing them under normal conditions.  When prices mysteriously skyrocket following an inauguration, it must be caused by conglomerates loathing a new guy who won’t let greed fester.
Explaining why profits are going to seem high during an era of high costs and higher inflation goes ignored by class warfare warriors.  Instead of bickering about the present percentage, perhaps let fuel peddlers acquire some of the fuel underfoot so it’s too cheap to matter.  I’m sure limiting supply doesn’t increase prices as illustrated by a graph you see on the first day of high school economics.
A very helpful media framing endless crises as problems for a sorry president to face has to pretend they have to turn away subscribers.  Gas prices apparently randomly spike.  Meanwhile, a minuscule reduction was brought to you by your loving president.  Also, the mob says you can pay slightly less protection money, so your adulation better seem enthusiastic.
Everything is swell and compassionate.  Oh, and baby food disappeared.  Starving infants would be too manipulative as a script for those predicting how traumatic this term would unfold.  The starving infant aisle is just the most awful example of empty shelves from those whose contempt for the smallest humans doesn’t end at unfettered abortion.
Shopkeepers once hid empty spaces with dry goods.  But the ability to buy delicious items was in the before time. Now, businesses once inefficiently packed with things that hadn’t even been sold now comfortably resemble Soviet supermarkets.
Some Americans are thriving.  Unfortunately, it’s only those stealing what few material goods are left.  Villains are a natural constituency of a political movement based on falling for every sob story.  Biden is particularly skilled at ignoring actual sobbing.  He’d struggle to implement his ideology otherwise.
Christmas for those who enjoy inflicting mayhem.  Santa watches helplessly as the naughty get everything on their lists.  Cities don’t feel particularly jolly.  Predators bloom now that they’re free to emerge from the shadows.
Preyers upon the innocent were waiting to commit offenses until they found themselves enabled by politicians who do the same with a quasi-lawful sheen.  Booming thievery randomly timed perfectly with a legal and cultural shift to deciding that punishing those for doing nothing more than causing harm is uncool.
Unfortunate Democratic mayors must cope with Democratic policies.  The lack of cash bail means way more cash is being stolen.  Making those suffering the indignity of being arrested is mean enough.  The expectation to leave cash as collateral must violate the Constitution.  Paying to no longer be locked up would make poor suspects poor.  Do you want to harm the economy?  I thought you liked prosperity.
Criminals notice enticements just like decent people.  If politicians think that’s sick, they should stop enabling the twisted phenomenon.  The biggest disincentive to plundering is that stolen currency isn’t worth much.  Fight crime with inflation.
Spare a thought for the overwhelmed guy who must face a rotten economy and international turmoil.  The person who handed off this burden should feel great shame.
The incumbent resembles Dante complaining about what’s happening to him instead of realizing how much control he has.  Even Kevin Smith could manage to make one half-decent movie, which is more than we can say for the president’s decisions.
An ideology based in communalizing naturally lends itself to concluding bad things just happen.  So, that’s why the president avoids blame is policy.  The very productive worker can’t figure out how others got rich while dictators decide to boss around other countries, too.
A president who’s dedicated a lifetime of public service to learning nothing about what serves the public concluded those who trade stole it while those who really stole can’t be stopped.  Biden has to deal with the Biden presidency.  I simply feel awful for the sad bastard who just happened to be in charge when conditions collapsed.

Heroes of Whitestone
The app’s official name is RPG Dice which is so generic as to be misleading - like, you’d expect that to just be a dice simulator app.
Anyway. It has the other as a subtitle and that will have to be good enough.
I have a lot of complaints, but few are usable to me as a developer. They’re things I would not do, and there’s decent odds the baseline developers also wouldn’t have done them but then some App Monetization Expert got handed the task of making the game more profitable. And as always with these games I’m uncertain where the point is between cupidity and “making sure everyone gets fed for doing their job.” If the writers, translators, artists, developers, and programmers actually got paid decently for this project, well...They deserve to. There’s a lot of good here. I just feel like it’s buried under piles of monetization bullshit.
So let’s ignore said bullshit for the nonce and have a look at the things I enjoy about it.
Dice! Dice, Everywhere!
There are three different explicitly dice-based systems in the game and I like all three of them.
The Aesthetic and core storytelling loop are both based around moving a piece around a game board in a very very retro style. Roll, move forward along the path. This is as retro as it gets; It is the style used by The Royal Game of Ur, believed to be tied with Mancala as the “first board game to exist.”
While this hooks into an energy-based time-gating system I find it less jarring than most time-gates because it feels like it needs something there. Since it is a one-player game, there needs to be a cost to taking a turn. I don’t think I prefer the Pathfinder ACG style here, where you’ve got a hard time limit (Actually they dabble with an idea like that in this game and I dislike it). And a “soft enrage” system where something awful happens more and more often the longer the quest goes could be thematic but could also be infuriating and/or discouraging.
...I may be wrong. It could be that there shouldn’t be a cost to taking a turn at all, and that your own time is enough expense if you miss your space and have to go around again.
Second dice are in the skill challenges. These use a d20 and a target of 20, with three chances to get +6 that are based in “do you have a hero of our preferred type leveled up to where we want?” There’s a lot to like here, with a 5% chance to succeed or fail that is untouched by the bonuses, a sense of value to diversifying your party and not just picking “The Meta” out of a forum somewhere, and bonuses or penalties that feel meaningful but not overwhelming. It’s well-considered!
The third dice are probably the defining feature of the game and there’s a bunch that’s cool here.
Your heroes have skills you use in battle and when you learn a skill it gets a slot where you can put a die. You can use the skill without an attached die! That’s allowed! It’s basically no different from being allowed to play an RPG like Diablo without filling in the slots in your armor, or without using a weapon. It’s expected, and there’s nothing gained by not doing it, but it’s technically not required.
The dice themselves have sides and every side is good. (again, there’s nothing gained by ignoring this mechanic) Looking at one of the basic starter dice, Weaken: 4 sides are 1 sword, granting +25 attack. One side is 2 swords, granting +50 attack. and one side is a hammer, granting “This inflicts a debuff (potentially resisted) that reduces all targets’ attack by 10% for 1 turn.”
You can also upgrade the dice. If I spend stuff to buff my Weaken to level 2 the 1 sword is now +26 and the 2 sword is +52. Oddly the weaken effect itself never rises above 10% or 1 turn. BUT! if I buff my Weaken die to level 10, not only does the attack buff per sword rise to 34, but it changes die type and becomes a d8! It gains a second hammer side and a second 2-sword side, dramatically increasing the odds of better stuff. This value is even more pronounced on more powerful dice, like ones that inflict Sleep, which causes enemies to lose turns!
Self-targeting skills also exist and use Support Dice, which work the same. Divine Plea lets the paladin give herself a shield (and taunt an enemy, and remove poison if she has it) and the size of that shield increases a bit if you roll a 1-shield on the support die, a bit more if you roll a 2-shield, and also you might roll a + and heal for 10% of your max hp instead. Or if you want to consistently use this as the paladin’s first move you might give her a Strength die, so if you roll a hammer instead of a shield you get +10% attack for a turn.
The system gives this huge range to improve any given die, eventually turning it into a d12 with six new sides as good as the best 2 sides of the original die or better!
It also looks like each skill ends up with three slots for dice, so you end up rolling 3 dice for potential buffs to go with every move. This might get really tedious with tabletop play and actual dice, but a computer can probably handle it cleanly; The worst-case is either that it goes Pokemon style and feels obligated to animate the addition of the debuff every time, causing combat to lag a bit, or that the player sometimes gets confused about how his dudes got poisoned when his opponent used Cleave, not realizing they had a Poison Die and invisibly rolled the poison effect on it. If I recall I think the game does the exact right thing here and lets you just toggle whether you want the die rolls animated or not.
Resource Bloat?
There’s a constant problem in f2p games where you come in and have gems, and gold, and elixir, and tickets, and moon tickets, and scrolls, and epic scrolls, and cloth, and bone, and onyx, and cobalt, and cadmium, and iron, and moltenite, and adamantite...
And you’re like, what the hell is all this shit? Here’s the thing: All of those things, all of them, are in this game. But there’s honestly only one or two where I feel like there’s a problem. Gems are the real-cash-to-everything conversion. Gold is the in-game thing you need more of than you can get in-game most of the time. Elixir is one of the problem things, where basically it’s xp? You use it to level up units along with gold.
The problem with elixir is you can’t grind for it and you feel like you should be able to, especially with the fact that the game includes an energy system limiting your time/rolls. It sometimes drops as a reward from combat, but not always? You don’t always get xp from combat? This bit feels very gamey in a way that is not fun like the retro board theming.
Tickets are the gating for events. You don’t so much “get tickets” as “have x attempts at events,” so there’s no real resource to keep track of. And you don’t get more tickets as treasure anywhere. They’re probably treated as things so the devs can sell them in a shop somewhere for gems?
Scrolls of either kind are just “how you get new units.” Nothing to it.
Moltenite is a counter that rises as you progress around the board and when it’s full at 100 you get a free piece of equipment. It’s basically less a resource and more the timer on a smith who’s passively working for you.
All the other resources are reagents for upgrading either dice or gear. And the game does a nice job of making them largely invisible. You only notice them when they’re being handed to you as treasure. It actually took me a while to realize you could use them for anything and they weren’t just, like, for clout?
If any of these become deeply obnoxious as some part of the game’s monetization, I haven’t hit that point yet. And more importantly for the starter experience, the game has all these resources but it’s not overwhelming and I want to give props to the devs for making that happen. That’s hard to pull off. And it’s nice to have this many resources overall, because then you can give out a variety of treasures. Sometimes when you get those skill challenges you get gold as a reward. But that’s not the only option. They can also give you a buff for your next fight. Or bone, or elixir, or cloth...
The variety is nice. Similarly for big events they aren’t pigeonholed - Sometimes they can give out Adamantite or Cadmium (endgame upgrade materials), or they can give out epic scrolls (give you high-power new characters) or they can give out big piles of gold/elixir (let you get your existing characters leveled up) or they can give out high-powered gear like a new sword or robe, or they can give you new high-powered dice. Those are all great options and a really impressive level of variety, and it’s a level that’s available because they included so many resources. It is often worth it, even for non-greedy reasons, to include a lot of different kinds of resources in a game! You just have to be careful how you go about it, and I feel like these folks did...okay at it.
I mean, they also do have a lot of the greedy stuff present, and all the cool things I’ve talked about here sometimes feel like they’ve been buried alive under the monetization mechanics and I hate that feeling with a burning passion.

Ooooh how about hc's for the four lords in the outside world?
Oooh yes! I'm goinh for a "cured au" approach here, so keep that in mind. :)
-Alcina-
-Doorways vs. Lady Dimitrescu, ultimate showdown.
-Pretty chill about it, although she missed being able to people watch.
-Mostly cured (no claws, no desire for blood, shrunk to only 8ft tall though, she's ticked. Being freakily tall is not helping her attempts at re-entering polite society.)
-Would never leave without her daughters, so we'll say they moved somewhere very warm. Delighted as she is that her precious buglets are safe, she does miss the colder weather.
-Uses her wine expertise to establish a very successful vineyard, it yields just enough for a decent profit. (Her daughters always manage to destroy half of the crop one way or another.)
-All in all, not much change but grateful to feel safe for the first time in decades.
-Donna-
-Uh oh. Socializing. Without Angie. With a prominent facial scar.
-Hooooo boy. Would fair pretty badly at first. (Alcina drags her to therapy once a month.)
-Enjoys easier access to fabric, also, the internet immediately becomes her crutch. Learns alot of cool sewing techniques and makes unholy amounts of stuffed animals.
-Learns ventriloquism and freaks out her siblings by making their stuff talk. ("WHY THE FUCK DID MY HAMMER TELL ME TO TAKE A BATH-").
-Learns how to cook (finally!) And overbakes to the point it's weird if the other Lords don't find baked goods on their doorstep every other morning.
-Studies the stars and has an Etsy that pays the bills very nicely.
-Adjusts eventually and learns to be happy again.
-Moreau-
-Very torn. On one hand: Yay! Human again, people smiling instead of screaming!
-On the other: What do I do now?
-Relearns medicine, much quicker than other students due to latent memories resurfacing. Doesn't trust himself to become a pediatrician just yet, so he becomes a professor at a local college.
-Takes a long time to grasp the fact that people are talking to him again, something which had been his dream for years on end.
-Has a coy pond and talks over all his major decisions with his fish.
-As hopeless a romantic as ever, but will take a very long time before he's ready for a relationship. Years as a monster will do things to your head.
-Heisenberg-
-Dumpster diving 24/7.
-Sleep? I think you mean coffee.
-Doesn't know what to use his skills for if he's not roleplaying Dr. Frankenstein. So he gets a job at a Autobody shop.
-Terrorizes Starbucks employees at strange hours.
-Still feels vulnerable without his sunglasses.
-Adjusts well, but Alcina stills forces him into therapy. And yes, they still hate each other, bit it's slightly more playful.
-Makes trinkets and gives them to random people because he "Doesn't want all this junk in his house."
-Has a lot of junk in his house anyway.

As a resident Claudefucker, I know am curious to know what our fave charming schemer is doing during this Mafia!AU. He'd look lovely in a suit.
~It was quite the headline when Godfrey Riegan died. The details are a little hazy, a little convenient, but people don't talk about that sort of thing. Car accidents are common. Tragic, but not unreasonable. There’s no reason to smear a man’s perfectly respectable political career for the sake of some sensational gossip.
~In the right circles, however, there was a huge uproar, questions about who was going to take over the Riegan family when the elderly boss Oswald died. The Riegan’s had been dominating Leicester for quite some time, but a lot of people began to predict that the Gloucester family was going to move in. They had powerful friends, it seemed. Friends with money, no less.
~Claude Riegan, grandson of Oswald, appeared out of nowhere just when he was needed. Stories of the lost daughter Tiana still circulated, sure, but there were still a lot of questions about Claude’s origins when nobody except Oswald were able to vouch for him. He obviously had military leadership experience—his skill with guns and ability to lead was just too excellent for any other explanation—but he dismissed the question out of hand. There’s no documentation of him, either, leading some to wonder if even his name was false. But Oswald said he was family, and that was that.
~Claude was quick to establish himself, in any case. Despite his cavalier attitude, his efficacy in overhauling the power dynamics of Leicester were profound.
~He decided, first and foremost, that the way to win the people over was to invigorate the local culture, which had seen a sharp decline as a result of new laws that were unfavorable to business, Adrestia’s growing market monopolies, and the bad reputation of the red light district Ailell. This included some perfectly legitimate campaigning and some under the table type schemes.
~The result was a flourishing Derdriu Street. While it lacks the prestige of Enbarr Square in Adrestia, it welcomes entertainment that would be considered too “low brow” like comedy, trendy new restaurants, and music venues. Even better, all of it is built on the recently cleaned up river. The Riegan family is involved in all of  it, of course.
~Casino owner Claude. This exists solely to thirst but maybe it was preexisting and he took it over due to its poor management? If there’s going to be gambling anyway, it should be done right. The extra money’s not so bad, either. But, Claude lounging in a big leather chair in a dark blue blazer with gold brocade, his white shirt unbuttoned low enough to see enough his chest. Enough to make you drool. Enough that you’d definitely get caught staring and probably called out for it because he can’t help himself. Claude with his elbows on the arm rests and fingers folded in front of him as he considers you, gold rings winking because he’s just that ostentatious and appearances are important. Claude asking you how you feel about taking risks in a way that really feels like it has nothing to do with cards, staring at you with a friendly smile that doesn’t meet those calculating eyes—eyes that you know will pick up on every tell.
~Claude also struck a deal with the Kupala Distillery. They’d been fighting to keep hold of their historic business for years, and Claude offered to help them with that. You know, not for free, but he’s good at making deals that leave everybody happy.
~The second biggest thing he tackled was the drug trade. For the most part, no one family had ever had a complete handle on that market. The Goneril’s had a hold over the docks for years, but the Edmunds had been moving in and working with the Gloucester family to bolster their power. Distribution was scattered and hard to keep track of as it ultimately circulated wherever there was a profit to be made. Looking at it like this, Claude decided that the only way to fix things was to take control over all of it. In his line of work, shady things like the drug trade are impossible to avoid. At the very least, if he has control over it, he can ensure the product is clean and expel far more unsavory ventures.
~Through these escapades, Claude was able to make alliances with all of the major families. A lot of them had only remained loyal to the Gloucester family out of fear so as soon as they had an alternative, they bolted. This has an unfortunate side effect of revealing how his power is perceived. Every day is a balancing act for Claude. He allows each family to function as they please as long as they’re aware they do so at his mercy. It’s better to keep friends than to control enemies, but even that requires a delicate maneuvering of power.
~However, Claude likes the conflict. He enjoys the game and he especially enjoys winning the game. There’s a certain level of his excusing amorality for the sake of his family and Leicester, but there’s an equal part of him that understands his wrongdoings and deals with it separately. He wouldn’t hold to the naïve “ends justify the means” idea to excuse himself, but he would still argue that his actions have value and are even necessary. If it weren’t him, it would be somebody a lot worse than him. That’s probably something that would linger in the back of everybody’s minds whenever they shook his hand or paid their respects, whenever they began to think of how easy it would be to take him out. Fear, too. So far, Claude’s never done anything shockingly bad, only what was necessary. But with his power and intellect, it’s always a question of what he could do.
~If someone asked him that, Claude would smile that friendly smile and tell them that he would do anything to see his vision made real. Whether or not that’s true remains to be seen.
~Luckily, Claude’s not alone! Hilda is the stereotypical crime family princess. She joined Claude because he offered her freedom from the overbearing control of her father and brother. Her skill in manipulating everybody around her combined with her reputation as a ditzy rich girl makes her fantastic at gathering information, assuming Claude can get her to do so. But, as long as he’s not being too forceful, she’s surprisingly motivated to weave her way through social circles and charm everyone. Although she would never say it, the order he brought to Leicester, not to mention the entertainment, made everything a lot better for her and her family. Plus, she likes being useful after spending her entire life watching Holst give his heart and soul to family while she did nothing. Ultimately, the information she provides is essential and her relationship with Claude is one of the few either have that’s built on trust, respect, and loyalty. That said, sometimes even Claude gets a little shiver as he watches how easily Hilda can manipulate people.
~Lorenz was one of Claude’s most disdainful detractors, although a part of that was jealousy. Claude just swept in and did things that Lorenz had been waiting and planning to do once he became the head of the Gloucester family. Even after being on the receiving ends of such vicious attacks, once Claude undeniably had the upper hand in Leicester, he went behind the Gloucester boss’s back to Lorenz and told him that they were going to be friends or enemies, it was Lorenz’s choice. Not threatening him, just pointing out that the fall of the Gloucester family was inevitable under his father’s leadership and that Lorenz didn’t have to suffer for his father’s sins. Probably over mimosas and brunch. Lorenz is proud and has no appreciation for Claude, but he’s not stupid. After they worked out their disagreements and more or less accepted each other, Lorenz and Claude became pretty close. Claude knows that having someone to openly and aggressively disagree with him isn’t a bad thing. Not only that, but Lorenz’s a solid ally with a better grasp on some of the things Claude has difficulty with due to not being a native. Lorenz is willing to admit that Claude is a good leader.
~Marianne is well educated in the realm of the law and political action. The reason the Edmund family saw such success despite their lesser status was because of her adopted father’s genius. which he made sure to share with Marianne. She is invaluable in aiding Claude on the perfectly legitimate side of his business, and helping him hide his tracks for the shady stuff. Raphael is the muscle. Lysithea is a computer genius. Being a sickly shut in with issues that only recently saw treatment, she’s on the Mr. Robot level of hacker mode activated. Ignatz is an architect which is useful since so much of Claude’s power is in the property and infrastructure. He also designed a lot of places to have some neat-o hidey holes. Claude loves buildings that have secrets. Leonie is manages a lot of the physical and pettier side of the work. If someone’s stirring up trouble, she’s likely to pay them a visit as a warning before Claude has to get involved. She used to be a mercenary but being on Claude’s payroll is a lot better of a gig.
~As for the suits, one thing is very important. Claude would not, under any circumstances, wear something tight on his thighs. I actually kind of like the idea of him going for a 1980′s style modernized. In his post timeskip outfit, he’s already got a hint of that going on with how oversized his outfit looks. The 80′s (rightfully) gets a bad rep for fashion, but it’s also very iconic with those wide-collared suit jackets, matchy-matchy three piece suits, sportscoats with a fun patterned shirt underneath, open blazers, pleated pants with an oversized jacket, and—in particular—the trend of summer suits in shades of tan and cream with colored shirts underneath. Then, combine that with a pair of Ray-Ban Aviators and a topless convertible and you’ve got a distinctly recognizable mob boss who doubles as a devastating heartthrob. I’m not saying he’d do a 1:1 recreation, but you’d definitely see references to the fashion of the era in his outfits. He would wear oxfords or ankle boots. Whatever it was, they’d have to be comfortable. He also doesn’t shy away from jewelry. The earring, of course, and rings when he's feeling particularly decadent. When he’s wearing his shirts unbuttoned Claude could possibly wear a gold chain. I mean, what are you gonna say, no? That gold doesn’t look gorgeous against his skin? That it’s tacky? You’re talking to the man who wore quilted pants. Claude’s not afraid to stand out because he knows he will anyway, nor is he afraid to be seen as unfashionable because he doesn’t particularly care about trends. I also enjoy the idea of him emulating the 80′s as someone who didn’t grow up in a western culture and thus mainly saw things through the lens of movies. Whatever he wears, however, he would look very handsome.

Light Up The Dark
Part 1 | June
Tumblr media
pairing: bartender!tom x famous!reader
warnings: some smut +18 (in this particular chapter it’s nothing TOO explicit, but miniors be aware), swear words?, drinking, let me know if anything else!
words: 4.9 k
summary: y/n is a famous horror writer. Her books are on the lips of the people and her face is on all the magazine covers of promising young people.
She has just moved to Los Angeles, the city of celebrities and luxury, when she starts to get a writer's block as she starts writing her newest book. A way to distract herself and seek inspiration leads her to have her destiny mapped out with a simple waiter named Tom who has a delicious british accent.
What happens when her inspiration comes back only after she spends a night with him and she only manages to write after being in the company of that guy she just met? Maybe he'll become her newest addiction.
a/n: english it’s not my first language, so i’m sorry for any mistake! this is a series i started writing a while ago, i hope y’all enjoy :) the reader it’s from brazil here, but you can replace from any country you want lol And obv i’m not from LA and never been there, so if i say something out of reality it’s bc of that 😂
Tumblr media
"June arrived at the restaurant, sat down near the bar and looked around vaguely. The strange people's faces made her think better and maybe drink a shot of tequila too.
She opened his folder with the horrifying photos of the mysterious case. She felt sick to her stomach.
People said that by then she should have been used to see this kind of thing, but that was repulsive.
She wish the nightmare she had the night before was a way to solve that puzzle, but believing in the afterlife now wouldn't help her... If...If..."
- Damn it... - Y/n slammed her fist on the table. - Writer's block sucks. - She said and took the last sip of her tea.
It s been a week since she couldn't write anything. She would write maybe two paragraphs, maybe even three if she got lucky, but she always ended up erasing it, because she always turned into something meaningless or too cliche.
Damn the time she had promised to deliver something to her editor by the end of the month. But she hadn't counted on the lack of ideas when she agreed to that.
She got up from her chair in frustration and crossed her arms, pacing, as if her creativity had gone out for a walk and she was waiting impatiently for it to come back.
Why had she agreed to write a new book in the first place? She didn't need money. Their previous four books were already making huge profits, and they were going to make a new television series based on one of them.
So why writing another one? Maybe because, she had been having too many nightmares lately. Many family and friends told her to see a psychologist, see if she didn't have some hidden trauma. But looking for a psychologist? Admitting your weaknesses and personal things to a stranger? Never. That would be horrifying.
Writing helped. Transferring his fears to pages was hers gift. When she wrote she didn't have nightmares, didn't see things, wasn't sad. It was like a drug, a calming medicine.
Maybe fame was also making her restless lately. She hated being the spotlight, being the magazine cover of promising young people. She hated to see her name highlighted. But she loved having readers, yes. She loved when someone felt good reading her books or in the good sense of the word: terrified by her stories.
At the height of her 25 years, he never thought her books would become famous at that point. She had always enjoyed writing since she was a child, but working with it was just an unattainable dream. Until, at age 19, she quit her hideous job as a hotel receptionist and decided to publish her first story.
Obviously there were many rejections, until a publisher agreed to publish their work. From then on, her books became more and more known. They called her the new horror genius, the mystery queen, and sometimes even "Stephen King's lost daughter."
She didn't think it was all that. But she accepted the descriptions gladly. No wonder her books didn't come out of the top spot on the best sellers.
Another thing that motivated her to continue with that story, was a phrase from her own idol mentioned, Stephen King: "good stories are those that stay in the head for a long time". And God only knew how that story had been with her for far too long. She always wanted to put it down on paper, so here she was trying to put into words what her head brought up as random thoughts.
But now she was having one of his first creative blocks. Obviously she had already had it with previous books, but nothing as frustrating as this one. She had been trying hard for days, which was exhausting.
She looked at the clock on the wall: 11pm. Who knows if she took another break before starting writing again? Maybe it would help to come up with more ideas.
She thought about watching a show or movie, but he wasn't in the mood. She looked at her long polka dot pajamas under her favorite warm robe and snorted. Go out? On a Thursday night? On a cold night? No way.
But what if it helped her have more writing material? Watching people on the street really helped. If June, the character in her book, was in a bar, maybe if she went to one too it would help to have something to build on.
Writers did it all the time. Describe places that already existed, situations similar to which they lived. So, it wouldn't be new. Maybe she'd even put the location in her tribute if helped she got out of her creative block.
She took a deep breath and went to take a shower. It was decided, she would go out. She put on her best jeans, a Ramones T-shirt with a leather jacket. It wasn't a fancy outfit, but she didn't intend to go somewhere fancy anyway. Her stylist would have been dying to see her now, but she didn't care one bit.
She went out pressing the bottom of the elevator. Y/n had lived on the top floor of a building for 2 months, right in downtown Los Angeles. Sometimes she didn't even know why she chose to live there, she hated the big city and what came with it: paparazzi, celebrities, crazy people who feel superior, wealth and luxury. She came from a humble family, so she always felt like an outsider.
Y/n arrived downstairs and left the condominium calling a taxi that was passing in the street just in time. She walked in and closed the door, crossing her arms, trying to ward off the cold.
- Good night miss, where are you going? - the driver asked looking at her in the rearview mirror.
- Good night... Actually I don't know, do you have any suggestions for a bar around here?- she asked looking out the window. She didn't even bother to look for suggestions for places nearby.
- Well, it depends on what you're looking for... Something luxurious or something fun? - He said and a smiled played on the corer of her mouth. Luxurious was the opposite of fun indeed.
- Something fun, of course.
- So, I suggest the new Seven Devils bar, it's less than 20 minutes from here... - he said.
- Interesting name... Could be. - She said shrugging.
- The name is kinda creepy, but the place is cozy and welcoming, I went once. - the driver said starting and entering the street that was practically empty for being a weekday.
- Cool... - Y/n said looking at the city lights through the window.
After nearly twenty minutes the taxi stopped in front of what appeared to be a small door with a security guard in front of it. The neon sign indicated the name of the place, it seemed a mysterious place for those who passed by without knowing it.
- Thanks. - Y/n said handing the driver the money.
- You're not the Y/n Y/l/n? I didn't want to say anything, but I'm a fan of you, I love your books, they help me pass the time while I wait for passengers. - the driver asked turning a little with one of the Y/n books in his hand. - Could you sign this for me?
- Sure! - Y/n spoke excitedly taking the book from his hand and leaving a message along with her signature. - Thanks for the tip of the place. Have a good night... - She said opening the door.
- No, thank you, have a good night miss. -he said and she smiled closing the door and the taxi left leaving her alone looking at the door in front of her.
She approached the security guard who wished her good night, giving her room to enter, after she showed her ID. Y/n entered a little afraid of what she would find. The door behind her closed and she looked around. It was really cozy as the taxi driver said, it had a part with several tables, which were a little empty and a bar with stools around. The place had a good atmosphere, one of those that people go there to meet and chat with friends, in the background there was a kind of pop song that she wasn't sure if she knew or not.
He slowly approached the bar and sat down on one of the stools. A woman with several tattoos appeared behind the counter and came to serve her.
- Good night! How can I serve you?- she asked with a smile.
- Good night... Hm... Maybe a martini? - Y/n said taking a look at the drinks on the shelf behind the attendant.
- Okay, I'll be back with your order, anything else?
- That's it for now, thanks. - She replied smiling and the attendant walked away.
Y/n kept looking around, watching people, maybe looking for some inspiration. Something that would turn the key in his mind. Many who were there were in groups of friends and were talking animatedly, laughing. Some young and some older, in suits and ties, perhaps coming out of work.
Until one guy in particular caught her attention. He wore the black uniform with the name of the place, with an apron tied around the waist of the same color, and was picking up some glasses from some empty tables. He had dark brown hair slicked back and eyes the same color, very expressive and large. A boy's face from the outside, but on the inside had a mysterious and confident air.
He balanced a tray full of things with an greatest skill in one hand and smiled at some people, he seemed charming because everytime he left a table he left people whispering and giggling embarrassed behind his back.
He walked over and entered the bar placing the tray behind the counter, came close to the other attendant who already had the Y/n martini ready and she could hear him talking, soon realizing he had a perfect accent.
- Sally, you can leave it to me, go take your break. Whose martini is it?- he asked taking a look around.
- Oh thank you, my feet are killing me. It's the girl over there. -she said indicating Y/n with her head and he looked at her, making Y/n realize that she was staring at him for too long, so she looked away embarrassed.
- Okay. - he said looking at where Y/n was sitting and stopped in front of her with the glass. - Good night miss, here is your order. - He spoke with a british accent. Only at that moment did Y/n realize that his accent was well loaded and God only knows how much she loved that accent.
- Oh yes, thank you very much. - She said raising her eyes to look at him and smiled then he blinked with one of his eyes and gave her one more look, before going to deliver another order to a man who was sitting a few benches away.
Y/n felt a shiver all of a sudden, that boy had made her legs a little weak and she didn't really know why. I mean, he was handsome, very handsome and he had a special charm, but it wasn't that much, was it? Maybe it was because it had been a while since she'd dated anyone. When was the last time? Two months ago? Since she had moved in she hadn't gone out with anyone, she had locked herself in her apartment and was writing like crazy. She didn't have time to go out, not even with her friends when she was working on a new book. Which brought them dissatisfaction from time to time, not just because she didn't hang around with them, but because she didn't even go out on one-night stands.
She never been the one that going out with a guy just for sex, she had to have some good first dates and maybe she would take him to see her apartment or go to his apartment. Friends of hers thought she was too old in her spirit, but what can he do? If she couldn't be bad girl once in a while. For a moment she thought, "For this english guy I would be" but shook her head away from the thoughts. She went back to analyzing him, dammit why did he have to be so fit? She could see that the T-shirt he was wearing highlighted his muscles that were only left to her imagination, she found herself biting her lip a bit and snatching her martini off the counter, taking a big sip.
The attendant approached again, drying some glasses with a towel, and took one more look in her direction where she looked away quickly making him smirk. He stopped in front of her again, bracing her arms on the counter, making her swallow hard. He didn't know why she was so nervous, he was just a guy, no biggie.
- I like the shirt. - He pointed with a smile, which made her think he had a beautiful and endearing smile. She looked down and then looked at him smiling too.
- Thank you... Ramones is everything... - she said and drank the last sip of her drink placing the empty glass in front of her right after. - Can you serve one more?
- Sure...- he said, still smiling, took the bottle and filled his glass again. - Trying to distract yourself on a thursday night?
- Yeah... you could say yes... - she said taking another sip. - Have you worked here for a long time?
- In fact, it's been almost six months since I moved to the United States and I've been working here for four months. -he said putting the towel that was in his hand on his shoulder.
- Hm... You're from London?
- I am, wow how did you find out? - he asked raising an eyebrow playfully and she smiled.
- Yeah, your accent really doesn't give out anything ... - she said and he gave a low laugh making her have more goose bumps.
- You also have a different accent, have you lived here for a long time? - he didn't know who she was, which was good. But it also wasn't like she was recognized all the time, despite her face being on magazine covers, she was still a writer, so she was only recognized by those who liked to read or who vaguely remembered her face.
- I was born in Brazil actually, but I've lived here for years, lived in another city for almost five years and now I've decided to come to Los Angeles two months ago...
- I see ... - he said organizing some drinks that were on the counter. - Do you like it here?
- More or less... It's a busy city, isn't it?
- Yeah, it's not for anyone. - He said shrugging. - I like it, I like the rush, but the glamor part really isn't me. - the attendant said and she smiled.
- You're right... I mean, I don't like the glam too much either... - She looked away at her nails.
- What do you work with? - he asked and she looked at him again.
- I'm a writer...
- Nice! What do you write? - He asked curious looking at her with attention.
- I write horror and thriller books.
- Interesting... I would never read, actually I'm not much of a reader anyway, but I wouldn't, because I'm terrified of those things. - He said crossing his arms and she laughed.
- Oh, it's not that terrifying, it's just stories. - She said leaning her elbows on the counter.
- Still, I prefer to have my good night's sleep intact. - He said and she laughed making him smile looking at her.
When she was about to say something, a customer signaled for him and he excused himself going towards the man who was furthest away.
Y/n sighed. She still didn't have any new ideas about her story, but she was entertained by that conversation. She liked not being recognized, she liked him not being interested in her books, for a moment she felt oblivious to anything, liked feeling disconnected from her world.
He returned shortly after and they started talking again. They talked about bands, movies, superficial celebrities and even politics (an important topic in Y/n's vision, who was very firm with her ideas, thankfully he had passed the test). She found out that he was the same age as her and that he moved to the US to look for something that would give him money or a perspective on life, ended up getting that job and intended to stay until he found a different area. The hours passed and they kept finding subjects to give their opinion or questions to ask each other.
- Did you go to college? - she asked after a while.
- No, I don't think I'm smart enough for that, or have the patience. What about you?
- Everyone is smart enough. I started going to business school, but I dropped out when my books started to pay off...
- Wow, your books should give you a good amount of money to be able to drop out of college and dedicate yourself to them...
- Yeah... You could say that. - She shrugged.
- You know looking at you closer like that...- he said getting a little closer and she held her breath for a moment. - I've seen you somewhere...
- Really? - She said raising her eyebrow and drinking from a straw, now with a different drink.
- I don't know, you're not strange to me... - he said putting his hand on his face thoughtfully.
- Well, I hope it's from somewhere nice. - She smiled and he smiled back looking at her. - Do you have a girlfriend or are you married? - Y/n asked and regretted a little, what was she thinking? He wasn't married, as he didn't have a ring on his finger as she'd noticed. But what was her intention by asking that question? She didn't even know, she just knew it had escaped her.
- Neither darling. - He replied smiling a little mischievously and she felt butterflies with the way he called her by that nickname and with that accent. - How about you?
- Neither ... - She replied avoiding looking at him, those eyes hypnotized her and she didn't like to feel at his mercy of a guy she had just met. She took the cell phone disguising but paid attention to the time. - My God, it's already 2:00 in the morning! I completely missed the time.
- I think the company ended up distracting you. - He said still not taking his eyes off her and she felt her cheeks heat up.
- Yeah, the chat was really good... But I have to go... - she said getting up.
- If you wait I can take you home, I'm already leaving, the bar is already closing. - he said and Y/n looked around seeing that some waiters were already collecting some things from the tables.
She thought for a moment, take a ride home with him? It didn't make sense, she had just met him, but at the same time she had enjoyed talking to him so much. He didn't seem like a bad person, but even so you would never know for sure. At the same time she never took any chances, why not let that pretty boy take her home? Finally, she thought: you know what? Screw this.
-Erm, ok...- She shrugged. - I'll go to the cashier to pay and wait for you outside?
- No need to pay darling, it's on me. - He spoke winking and she smiled.
- Oh no, I'll pay no problem...
- Your company has paid off your debt, it's ok. - He replied and she took a deep breath rolling her eyes.
- If you insist...- she said giving up.
He came out from behind the counter and motioned for her to follow him, arriving at the front door where the security was.
- Tuwaine, you can let her pass, it's on me. - He told the big guy and he looked at the english man, sawing his eyes suspiciously and smiling right away. Making Y/n laugh inside.
- Meet you outside? It will only take a few minutes - the attendant said and she nodded, leaving in the cold night.
She leaned against the door with her thoughts. She had come here just to get inspiration and to have her creative back, but she was coming home with an english guy. She didn't even recognize herself anymore, but to say she wasn't anxious (in a good way) was a lie.
She was lost in her thought, until minutes later he came out wearing a denim jacket, which made him look even more handsome.
- Let's go? - He said and she followed him to an old car parked right in front of the bar.
He opened the door for her to get in and she thanked him by sitting in the passenger seat, pulling on her seat belt as he closed the door. He sat down next to her right away, also putting on his belt.
- Hey, before we go: I didn't ask for your name! If you're going to take me home at least I have to know that- she asked realizing that she didn't even know that yet and he looked towards her smiling.
- Tom Holland. - He said stretching his hand. - Nice to meet you.
- Y/n Y/l/n- she said, squeezing his hand. And you can't deny that she felt butterflies in her stomach as she felt her skin on hers.
- Your name is not strange to me, I must have read it in one of your books in some shop window. - He said starting and leaving with the car.
- Yeah, who knows ... - she said and he turned on the radio leaving the volume low.
They were exchanging a few words until she indicated that they had arrived at the building where she lived. Tom parked and looked up in a daze.
- Wow, you really have money... - he said and she took off her belt turning towards him.
- A little bit...- she replied crossing her arms. - Well, thank you so much for the ride...
- You're welcome darling. - He said turning his eyes to her. Again that nickname that sounded perfect on his lips.
She turned around, but when she was about to open the door, she turned back to Tom, who was leaning with one hand on the steering wheel and watching her with attention. The next words escaped her again and she was afraid she'd regret it.
- Tom, do you want to come in? - She spoke still holding the door and the boy smiled.
- Sure ... - he said taking the key from the ignition and she shook her head slightly leaving.
He followed her and they entered the building. Tom looked at everything admired which made Y/n smile a little to herself. They entered the elevator and she pressed the penthouse button causing him to raise an eyebrow.
- You really must be a great writer. - he said and she laughed.
He leaned his back against the elevator wall, putting his hands in his pocket and looking her up and down, making her shy. He kept looking at her and it was making her nervous.
They were silent until the elevator opened after a while and they got out. Y/n put a password on the door and it swung open with a small click, she took held the latch and motioned for Tom to enter.
After the two of them entered she closed the door again behind her and watched Tom standing further on, looking around.
- Nice apartment...- he finally said.
- Thank you... - She leaned against the table at the entrance. She didn't know what to do next, maybe it had been a bad idea to bring him here. Why was she so impulsive that night? -Tom, I don't know why I invite you in, sorry...-she said a little nervous looking at her feet. He turned towards her, approaching and stopping in front of her.
- Are you sure you don't know? - He asked and she raised her head, seeing those brown eyes. She bit her bottom lip watching him closely. Damn he knew how to hypnotize her. He took another step and placed a hand on either side of her on the table, cornering her - Your body says otherwise, love... - he said softly feeling her breath hitch slowly and approaching his face to hers, alternating the look of your eyes to her lips. Y/n found another nickname that was perfect when he say.
He finally closed the distance by pressing his lips to hers. His lips were soft and warm, as if they were meant to be kissed. She returned the kiss willingly and when she laced her fingers in his neck, he licked her lower lip slowly asking for passage in which she opened them letting his tongue explore her mouth.
His hands gripped her waist and roamed her body greedily. As he kissed her, he caught her from behind her legs and sat her down on the entrance table, biting her bottom lip shortly after, provoking a low moan from her. He smiled against her lips and trailed kisses to her neck, attacking her skin with desire, making her throw her head back a little.
She grabbed his hair and pulled him back so she could kiss him. Which he gladly reciprocate. His kiss was urgent, but without being rude, he tasted like mint, making her want him even more.
His fingers found the button of her pants and he undid them quickly pulling them out, tossing them aside. When he came back he took her calf and kissed her leg up to her thighs, making her sigh. He moved up the kisses until he caught the hem of her shirt and pulled it up a little, kissing her stomach as well. Y/n didn't know what to do but feel goose bumps with every touch he gave. He then hiked up her shirt and she lifted her arms where he pulled her off, tossing along with her pants that were also on the floor.
She was just wearing her underwear in front of him, it made her a little excited and embarrassed at the same time, but the way he looked at her made her feel confident. He went back to kissing her body, this time kissing each covered breast in turn and reaching for the back of her bra and opening it. She helped him out tosiing to the side and he stood between her legs just watching her for a second, making her feel her cheeks heat up.
- Perfect... - he said with a low voice, as it was for himself and bent down to her breasts kissing each one of her nipples and then sucking them deliciously. Y/n moaned and bit her lip to keep her moans from getting louder, tangling her fingers in his hair again. He looked into her eyes for a few seconds and smiled slightly lowering his kisses to where she wanted him most.
He reached the hem of her panties and pulled them out slowly, kneeling between her legs and she looked at him with expectation. He returned the look and gave that smirk again.
- Look at you darling.... - That damn nickname. - Extremely wet and I haven't even touched you yet... - he said approaching and devouring her right away making her throw her head back with pleasure, biting her lips again to not sound so pathetic with her moans that insisted in wanting get out. - Oh, please don't drown out those wonderful sounds you make, I want to hear how good I'm making you feel. - He said in a husky tone, returning to his task after and she parted her lips letting her moans spread through the apartment.
****************************************************************************************
Y/n woke up the other day in her bed. She didn't even know how she got there, she just had flashes of the night before and how good she felt in each moment. She stretched and looked to the side seeing she was alone. She got up and put on a robe who was on the side of the bed.
After going to the bathroom and doing her morning hygiene routine she walked around the apartment looking around to see if Tom was somewhere else in the house, but found nothing. Which was understandable, it wasn't like she expected him to stay there and have breakfast with her and all.
She arrived in the kitchen and made black coffee and lean against the countertop. What that simple waiter had done to her was ridiculous, in a good sense, she felt great and kept remembering that accent that was stuck in her mind. He had consumed her in a way she had never imagined it she could be.
Tumblr media
Taking a deep breath she set down turning her notebook on. Then opened her book and started writing.
