yes i have personal & intimate reasons for my own (lack of) religious/supernatural beliefs, but it's not dishonest to admit: i am also an atheist bc at no point in my life have i, after completing a slightly unpleasant task, been witness to an angel/imp/sprite/devil/entity-of-any-kind manifesting in all their glory to offer me a pat on the head and a little plastic baggy of crackers (by way of encouragement/reward).

Sometimes the things in our lives aren't directed at us individually. It is so easy for me to look up and ask God, "Why did you do this to me?" But that is such a self-centered thing to do--especially when the thing in question is on a large scale or effects more people than just me. I think often we deal with the effects of what is happening to other people, and it may not be directed at us specifically. It can be hard to realize that when we are suffering (or "suffering") but it may not be our specific problem beyond how we handle it in the given moment and move on with our lives.

i’ve been silently stalking the nope tag here and have been sitting on Something since i watched the film a few days ago. the digestion scene. how it relates back to spectacle and the inability for people to look away. i had seen a post stating how the digestion scene seemed almost “sexual”, in a non NSFW - way, like we were seeing something we weren’t Supposed to be seeing. how it seemed intimate. private. how, though it left so many uncomfortable and uneasy, it was made for us to see, to consume and digest ( no pun intended ). much akin to curiosity via social media, especially when disaster strikes, you can’t help but look. you can’t keep your eyes off of what you’re seeing, even if you know it’s bad. those forty viewers were made a spectacle, as jupe was trying to make of jean jacket, and we, as an audience, did what spectators do best. watch, and do nothing.
