Argylle (Movie Review) | A Wild Ride Through Layers of Laughter, Action and Intrigue
Dive into the world of laughter, action, and surprises with #Argylle! 🕵️‍♀️💥 Vaughn's latest delivers a Kingsman vibe, but with a twist. #BryceDallasHoward and #SamRockwell shine in this spy-comedy extravaganza! #MustWatch #MovieReview #HenryCavill
Initially interested in Argylle because of Director Matthew Vaughn, I didn’t follow this film’s road to the silver screen. So I rocked up the cinema firmly believing that Elly Conway was the author of the book the script was based on, unaware that she was revealed to be the fictional author of the in-universe Argylle novels. I’m on social media but I spend more time with my books and TV shows to…

Doyle said at the inquest:
I then told him that I had a warrant against him for the murder of Mr. Uhr, and that he was my prisoner. I then laid hold of him and the other black. We struggled together, and I got thrown down. Mayhall got loose, and threw a waddie, which knocked the hat off my head. I had pistols in my belt at the time, which were hidden by my blue shirt. Immediately afterwards Horse Jemmy released himself from my grasp, and rose up. As he was going away, he turned round and looked at me. I then pulled out a pistol, while rising on my side and discharged it at him. I fired because I heard the blacks yelling, and thought if I did not do so, they would attack me.

sitd mini snips - first sleep
“Glad everything has been established,” Daniel says, settling more comfortably. “Can I please go back to sleep now?” When Jesse does not answer, he adds: “D’you want to stay? You can stay so long as you shut up.”
That does absolutely nothing to help Jesse regain the use of speech.
It doesn’t matter though, Daniel’s face breaks into a little half smile and he pulls Jesse the rest of the way down with him. And Jesse lets him. Ends up laid next to him in bed, Daniel feels cool to the touch, a few degrees off from what could be realistically classified as normal. Just cold enough to be noticed.
And he hasn’t got a heartbeat.
Which is less alarming than Jesse thinks it should be.
A lot less.
Still.
He lays there, in the blacked out room, and the man beside him falls back asleep—really fast, all things considered. And surprisingly at ease?
He looks softer in sleep.
Like a weight is lifted.
Somewhere, in staring at him.
Jesse drifts off as well.

Things I know about the people on Taskmaster Australia season 2, before I start watching it (I mean, it's sort of season 3, or something, but it's season 2 now, we have to refer to them by the order in which they're aired or it'll get incredibly confusing):
- When I was browsing the Chortle MICF reviews to see if there was anyone I didn't know who looked interesting and maybe I'd want to look up their stuff and/or add them to my Edinburgh list this year, I clicked on someone named Jenny Tian. I saw the words "Tik-Tok star" and closed the page again, no longer interested. Perhaps it will turn out that was totally unfairly judgmental of me and she's great. I sort of hope so. Please prove me wrong and tear down my unfair biases, Tik-Tok star.
- Obviously I know Lloyd Langford. I don't know him all that well, but he's turned up as a guest on plenty of things I've watched and listened to, and I've almost always liked him well enough. By "almost always", I mean "every time except that time when I was going through a phase of watching everything I could find by Rhod Gilbert, and I watched that old panel show called Ask Rhod Gilbert, on which Lloyd Langford was a regular, and it was a terrible show, but that's not Lloyd Langford's fault".
- Wil Anderson was the favourite "alternative comedian" of Zoe Coombs Marr's character Dave, in her stand-up show Dave, in which the joke was that he's actually a very mainstream and popular Australian comedian and her character is ignorant for considering him alternative (based on reviews I've read, I think when she performed that show in the UK, she changed it from Wil Anderson to Adam Hills). Also, Wil Anderson was the guy Daniel Kitson decided to start a parody beef with in 2005, and in retaliation Wil Anderson sicced a horrible journalist on Kitson, which became that routine in his 2005 show about how much he hated that journalist. I think in that routine too, the joke was sort of that Wil Anderson is a very mainstream popular comedian (Kitson ironically suggesting that he was going to upset the mainstream comedians with his routine). Despite this, I don't actually know any more about him than that.
- Anne Edmonds is the reason Lloyd Langford is no longer in Wales, because he got married to her in Australia. Normally I try to be careful not to define female comedians by their male partners, but in my defense, in this case, most comedians I know are British, so it's reasonable for me to know the British one and not the Australian one in this couple. Her latest stand-up show has recently been released as a special, though, and I've downloaded it and intend to watch it, and then I will know her better than him as I haven't seen Lloyd Langford's stand-up. But for now I know nothing else about her.
- No idea who Josh Thomas is, though I don't mean that as an insult, like, "This guy's so unimportant that I haven't even heard of him!" I mean it as, I don't know a lot about the Australian comedy industry. Josh Thomas is probably lovely.
- Fun fact, Australian Taskmaster Tom Gleeson used to be in a band with the guy who stole Daniel Kitson's girlfriend in 2004.
- Tom Cashman is a great Taskmaster's assistant. Though I only know that from the previous season, I haven't started the new one yet so I guess it's possible that he's got much worse at his job since then. Hopefully not though.

Disabled Characters Showdown
Notes:
1.) Characters are listed below the cut because there’s a ridiculous amount of them.
2.) This is going to be a 128 person showdown. Because of this there are going to be a few adjustments from how we normally do our polls. First- not all characters will have character descriptions, because we have neither the time or inclination to do so. There still will be character images along with image descriptions, but that’s about it. Second- because of how many polls this is, the first round will be released in waves of 16 polls per day over the span of 4 days. The other rounds will not be impacted. Third- the first wave of polls will be dropping on the 28th.
3.) If you want to submit propaganda about any of these characters feel free to because otherwise you will get things like this: “Haven’t the faintest clue who this is, so you get no context.” You can also submit character images because most of them will be horrible due to us just pulling most of them from the fandom page.
4.) If you have any issues about any characters feel free to shoot us an ask. That being said, this poll isn’t really about who is the best representation. See more details here. If you are wondering why a character is on the list feel free to ask and we’ll tell you but we’re not gonna put on reasoning for all of the characters.
5.) We tried our best with some of the names, but also are not familiar with some of the characters on this list so if there’s any issues there please let us know.

only the option with the least votes will be eliminated! the rest go on to round 3. propaganda under the cut (and more always welcome!):
the option with the least votes will be eliminated. propaganda under the cut (and more always welcome!):
kit herondale and livvy blackthorn:
They were literally straight bait. So Kit, Livvy and Livvy’s twin brother Ty were a trio with their own side plots in TDA. And well. We literally meet Kit when Ty breaks into his house and puts a knife to his throat and Kit gets distracted by Ty’s eyes. Then later Kit and Livvy have a few moments and kiss once. Then Livvy dies. There are some necromancy shenanigans. Kit confesses his love to Ty then immediately flees the country. Like Kit/Ty was clearly endgame from the start but Livvy and Kit just made out once.
peggy carter and daniel sousa:
She’s the best secret agent, he’s a hot as hell disabled war vet They get together, but also don’t because apparently Steve Rogers is a homewrecker Peggy moved on after losing Steve, got together with the amazing Daniel Sousa, and then got broken up because the Russos didn’t want Steve to be seen as being gay for Bucky
nina zenik and matthias helvar:
[MAJOR SPOILER] If they were truly straight Matthias wouldn’t have died (submitter also stated that nina is canonically bi/pan)
buffy summers and spike:
Buffy's a vampire slayer and Spike's a vampire. Enemies to Lovers. Absolutely not intended by creators, creators treated it like a joke at first, then some of the writers/producers actively hated it even throughout their canon relationship, they don't technically get together in the end, also he dies (kind of. he's brought back in another show. and the comics. it's complicated). Very queercoded relationship despite being m/f - desire, euphoria, shame, slowburn, keeping it a secret, doesn't think anyone else will understand or accept them, wanting to change for the better.
himmel and frieren:
https://official.lowee.us/manga/Sousou-no-Frieren/0030-015.png https://official.lowee.us/manga/Sousou-no-Frieren/0030-016.png https://official.lowee.us/manga/Sousou-no-Frieren/0030-017.png https://official.lowee.us/manga/Sousou-no-Frieren/0030-018.png https://64.media.tumblr.com/ccb9c16bab47d917d2e11dd22c9b88e7/828182d720d735af-ea/s500x750/210c55d7128139c2ce032383b34ad487df067514.jpg
jean-luc picard and beverly crusher:
They have a number of romantic moments throughout the TNG series from arguably the first but DEFINITELY the second episode. but they only get together (briefly before divorcing) in an alternate timeline episode which is also the season finale. Also they have a kid together in Picard but are still not allowed to be together She was married to his best friend and he was in love with her but wouldn’t say anything because he wouldn’t want to damage his bestie’s marriage and then his friend died and they met again years later and shared a lot of romantic and sexual tension for years. He openly admitted (under mind reading) that he had loved her since his bestie was alive but felt he couldn’t act on it. In an alternate future they got married. In the canon future they got together and broke up repeatedly because trauma makes relationships hard sometimes and they have a kid together who is named after the aforementioned bestie. An episode forcing them to share thoughts makes him openly admit that he loves her and has loved her for years even when she was married to his best friend.
tyler rake and nik khan:
They’re very close, have lots of chemistry, but have never been acknowledged in canon. At this point they are just work friends who save each others’ lives on the regular.
keiichi maebara and rena ryugu:
Fluffy harem romcom twists into yandere horror, but then twists again into a story of friendship triumphing over everything. Really holds for any pairing with Keiichi, but the rooftop battle in part 6 is just too good. A recent manga spinoff has them married to total randos, so their respective sons can have the same kind of relationship.
naoko takahashi and shouta oohara:
this “show” is a 2 episode hentai so I can understand if this doesn’t get in the brackets lol (I would not recommend watching this hentai for the sex scenes, I just remember reading about Oohara getting cucked for a girl and thinking that I had to see this) So, it starts off with Takahashi being in love with Oohara and they do have ghost sex in the first part of the episode 1 but what happens is that even though they have the opportunity to be together as ghosts, Takahashi pretty much IMMEDIATELY forgets about Oohara because she becomes completely infatuated with this ghost girl named Sakurako to the point where even when Oohara turns into a tiny penis in episode 2 but Takahashi doesn’t give a fuck
good luck everyone! now go vote!

After reading so much about the species and being inspired by @eorzeashan 's AMAZING Echani&Thyrsian headcanons, I've decided it makes so much more sense for Daniel to be Echani/Thyrsian - both character wise and physically.
Character in question
I still can't completely piece together the details of his life before the start of the class story, and I think I'll never be able to figure out all the little details and stick to them, but this change makes so much more sense for his character.
I imagine Daniel as being someone who's passionate and desperately fights for what he believes in - among other things, the well-being of his people and a place for aliens in the galaxy.
This causes him to mistrust and oppose Imperial authorities (with certain exceptions *cough* Darth Marr *cough*), and gives him even more reasons to turn his back to the Empire post-expansions.
During the events of his class story, he slowly comes to realize that the Empire he is trying so hard to change and reform is the Empire that always viewed him as a weapon, not an equal, and he would rather put that effort into something that equally gives back to him - like The Alliance.
I have yet to figure out how exactly he came to Korriban but for now it's something along the lines of being taken from his home planet and the only way to survive and persist was to finish his Sith training. -don't know yet-
As for his design, it will largely remain unchanged, although I am thinking about adding a white streak to his hair to symbolize him being part Echani, part Thyrsian - the dark hair, skin, fang-like teeth and glowing eyes really complete the whole look.

Supernatural romance books that aren’t Twilight:
So I read the Twilight series when I was in junior high, right at the ideal age range for them, and I remember loving them. Now, I can see them as cringey as they are with the realization that if they had focused on literally any of the other characters other than the 80 year old virgin or the high school student with the personality of cardboard, it would have been so much better.
but that’s a whole other rant
I’ve always loved the whole supernatural creatures/elements in modern day and figuring out how those two coincide and interact with each other, but it’s also much harder than it should be to find books that aren’t bodice rippers/majority smut or super tiny.
Like, if those do it for you, then good for you, but I’m always reading these things and skipping past the smut like come on *claps hands* let’s get back to the monsters and the magic!
Also, what is with making these books so tiny? I could grab one of them and finish it in an afternoon.
The following are books with supernatural/paranormal plotlines, elements, or characters. Most of them I consider YA since I read all of them except for one of the series when I was in high school.
The Fae:
The Iron Fey Series by Julie Kagawa
Tumblr media
The Wicked Lovely Series by Melissa Marr
Tumblr media
Ghosts / Reapers / Death as an Entity:
The Servants of Fate Trilogy by Sarah Fine
(these I do remember having smut in them, but they’re not super long and I just flipped through the pages until they were done)

A Girl Like That by Tanaz Bhathena
(this is the least supernatural of the bunch - mostly here bc of the POV it’s told through)
Tumblr media
Magic:
The Beautiful Creatures Quartet by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl
Tumblr media
The Once a Witch Duology by Carolyn MacCullough
Tumblr media
The Witch Child Duology by Celia Rees
(the 1st book takes place in colonial america, the 2nd one switches between modern day and colonial america)
Tumblr media
Sea Monsters:
Ashes on the Waves by Mary Lindsey
Tumblr media
Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant
Tumblr media
Ripple by Mandy Hubbard
Tumblr media
Tides by Betsy Cornwell
Tumblr media
Vampires:
The House of Night Series by P. C. Cast & Kristin Cast
Tumblr media
The Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
Tumblr media
Werewolves:
Fateful by Claudia Gray
(not strictly modern day, it takes place in the mid-1900′s, but I credit it with getting me interested in werewolves, so I had to put it on here)
Tumblr media
The Wolves of Mercy Falls Series by Maggie Stiefvater
Tumblr media
Books w/ Multiple or General Spookies:
Another Faust Duology by Daniel & Dina Nayeri
(the two are in the same universe, but not necessarily connected - if you have to read one, I’d suggest the first one)
Tumblr media
The Killer Unicorn Duology by Diana Peterfreund
Tumblr media
The Pivot Point Duology by Kasie West
(these ones ride the line of almost being sci-fi instead, just bc of the setting, but the main character is considered clairvoyant so it goes with the supernatural)
Tumblr media
The Templar Chronicles by Sarwat Chadda
(I don’t know what happened to the author, but these are the only two books that ever came about)
Tumblr media
The Pinnacle of werewolf and vampire:
The Courtyard of the Others Series by Anne Bishop
Tumblr media
The World of the Others by Anne Bishop
Tumblr media
The first 5 (The Courtyard of the Others) follow the same main characters and story arc to it’s conclusion and the bottom 3 (The World of the Others) takes place in the same universe, but focuses on different characters outside the first story arc.
These can technically be in modern day, but it’s an alternate universe so some things are just slightly to the left of actual modern day.
I read these in college, but honestly, it’s just bc that’s when they were published. They are just a tad more gory than any of the others and while sex happens and is discussed it’s not really described.
i want to say they’re more mature than the others, but considering the heavy themes in the other ones, it’s not strictly speaking, true
they also have my absolute favorite portrayal of vampires
Happy reading!

It was not proving a good deal:
The sheep are much cheaper now some of Capt. Piper's best breed of sheep have been sold at auction, a few days since, for sixpence per head. Money I have not any having spent all, mainly for shoes, etc., and God knows what I shall do. No person has money here. Sydney present a scene of poverty & distress & thousands leaving daily altho everything is so low. Good cattle £1 per head. Horses will scarcely be received as presents. Butter 6d. per lb. We have not sent anything to Sydney for some time it will not pay.

“So go fuck yourself [Macron]”
This weekend french web celebrities got together for the Zevent to get money for associations fighting against climate change. Macron did nothing for the evironment those past years (quite the opposite) but still had the audacity to tweet his “support” to the streamers and donors. This caused big reactions for a few streamers. It’s a pretty big deal because even if Macron did this every year, this is the first time people from the event actually react to it like that, as they should.
Antoine Daniel qui a les mots justes face à la récup’ de Macron. On aime nos streamers honnêtes 🥰
Too bad, I don’t fucking care]
