Kili and Tauriel: Baby Fic + Interrupted Declaration of Love
This sounds impossible even for me, so I think I owe you an apology. XD Let it die in your Ask Box if it's too hard. Bahaha.
@sotwk Thank you so much 😊
Me the instant I noticed your ask:✨ I N S P I R A T I O N ✨
No really, thank you for being my first ever request Nanath 🤗
Word count: 1677
Kili Durinson, Prince of Erabor, beloved by his people, and Hero to half of Middle Earth, hates babys.
...well prehaps that was a bit dramatic. Kili, at this moment, harbors no significant love for this particular baby.
Sighing heavaly he glances down at the fuzzy red ball of fluff that is Bomburs child, the pebble really isn't a bad kid, usually, and he could hardly be blamed for teething, but really did he have to do it on the first night that Kili had free?
The prince had had plans After all. Perfect plans, he'd made sure of it. Nothing was going to go wrong.
Kili feels as if he can hear the Valar laughing at him.
He raises his eyes as the graceful form of his beloved ducks back into the room, oh that we could be somewhere else, without a baby. But Kili is an optimistic sort, he hasn't given up hope compleatly.
He's mostly just perturbed that the hour and a half of sitting with Bilbo has gone to waste. They had put so much thought into the plan, every detail ironed out, he'd even gone so far as to bribe Nori into using his spy network to get flowers.
But fate never wanted to give the poor prince a break.
A sneeze brings him back to the present and Kili makes a sympathetic face at the child, pointedly ignoring that his Royal Public Relations Tunic now has baby snot smeared accros the front.
Kili is not above taking some pleasure from imagining Balin's face when he descovers this little fact.
Smiling softy as Tauriel begins humming an elven song, he chides himself for mentally complaining so heartily; after all, Bombour could not be blamed for his cousins untimely labor.
True to the costumes set forth at the fist births, all family members over the age of five, were to be near when a new relative was brought into the world, thus when Lady Elberdeth's water broke a half month early, no time could be spared to finding another caretaker for the one-year-old.
Bilbo would have done of course, as would any of the company, but sadly they all had prior engagements. Bussinous in Dale was what detained his family Thorin as king, Bilbo as consort, and Fili as crown prince, had all been called away to a meeting who's date had been agreed upon weeks prior.
Kili had been grumpy at them a mere five seconds when he'd caught Bilbo's dismayed expression and forgiven them all imeadiatly.
Bombour's tears of gratitude when Tauriel had offered to whatch ober the baby may have been a comtender twords that as well, and really no one could be upset at the large dwarf for long regardless of any circumstance.
The child's breathing slows to a steadier rythym as he desendes into sleep, though Kili notes that his mouth is still open, his nose compleatly blocked up.
When the Pebble is laid down in his parents' bed -head elevated- Kili alowed himself to collapse into a chair in the parlour. "I find myself exhausted." He is delighted when Tauriel rewards him with a sift version of her musical laugh.
"Indeed, I shall never say aught agaist the patience of dwarves, that master Bombour and his One have done this four time before" Kili winces in agreement, he find himself sure that he could never find the willpower for it.
And Kili has alot of willpower.
The evidence of which is sitting across from himself, looking like a painting as she reads a book. After all, his uncle is not oberly fond of elves, dealing with them was a chore, allowing one to live in his kingdom? Unthinkable.
Kili and been hard put to make the elven maids case, he blames it on Thorin's then wounds, and Bilbo's minesrations that the efforts had been successful at all.
Not to say it didn't take longer than he'd wished, in the end it had taken a total of nine arguments to convince his uncle, the last of which finally pushed his alowence.
"Uncle please!-"
"No! Kili! How many times must I reinforce this? I will not have an elf living within our halls, she has no reason.".
Kili resists the urge to rip his beard out. "Tauriel has been banished, was banished because of her efforts to assist us! Is that not reason enough? Were we not exiles of our own country so long, have you already forgotten?"
Thorin runs a hand through his hair, wincing at rhe pain the movment brings. "Kili..."
"No! It is no differant! She saved my life AND Fili's if you'll remember."
"I am not saying that we do not owe this elf a great deal," the king concedes, allowing a flash of hope to pass through Kili. "But that is not the same as allowing an outsider into our home."
Biting back his anoyance in what Killi feels is a great exhibition of maturity, he responds as calmly as he can manage, "Bilbo stays." Thorin's facial expression shifts rapidly at the mention of the Hobbit and Kili bites a smirk back. "His ears are rathrer pointed, are they not?"
"That is not-"
"Hmm, yes, they are. I supose you'll be packing him off as well? Cant have outsiders in our midst" Kili is being manipulative, he knows it, but he has grown tired of arguing with his uncle and is unashamed of using the poir burglar against his -obviously love struck- uncle.
Predictably, Thorin bristles instantly bristles. "Master Baggins has not been an outsider for quite some time-"
"And why not?" Kili's reprochfull frown is evident to his uncle, who in return sighs wearily.
"Has he not done more for our people than can ever be repaid? Treated us as his own, when we- I had done nothing to deserve such treatment?"
"Uncle you prove my point for me, you've yet to give Tauriel even the slightest chance, just as you once did Bilbo! You grew to regret that choice, would you repeat it here?"
Thorin raises an eyebrow. "I doubt that my feelings for this elf will ever mirror those I harbour for Bilbo?"
Kili's nose srunches at the mental image. "Mahal, no uncle. But what you feel for Bilbo I do for Tauriel." His words are quieter neer the end, this he had not told anyone so far, though he knew Fili suspected.
Thorin's eyes widen a fraction. "You mean to say-"
Kili grabs his hair in his own hands. "YES, uncle Thorin, I feel it, Tauriel is my one." When he raises his head Thorin sees the unshed tears in his eyes, "every hour I am away from her it pains me, worse the this accursed stab wound"
There were more words spoken after that, but Thorin was convinced, and spent the next few months urging Kili to confess to the elven maid.
Sterling himself, Kili reaches the desision, if Tauriel had any though of returning his feeling surely she would not refute to acknowledge them only because of the less than glamorous surounding-
"Kili are you well?"
The youngest Durin is yanked from his thoughts he the lovely voice of the Eleth. He blinks owlishly in response, confusion evident.
That beautiful laugh escapes from her lips again. "You've been staring at me for some time Kili, my guess would be around seven and a half minuets."
Kili grins sheepishly. "Apologies," Tauriel smiles her forgivness. "Only... I wish to tell you-" a cry picks up in the next room and both of them shoot to their feet, runing to the bext room.
After the child is clean, dry, and back asleep, Kili meanders to the kitchen, pleased to find a suitable snack to share with Tauriel.
This is of course, an innocent snack, not a tool of procrastination nor an excuse to be close to the elven maid. Not at all.
By the time the last of the pie has dissapreared, Kili has once again gathered his courage and speaks; "Tauriel I wish to-"
A thump is heard, Tauriel and Kili exchange glances before racing once again to the crying child's aid.
The child who seemingly had a death wish, as he had rolled off the bed and -being a rather plump child- had gotten stuck betwixt the bed and the wall.
Twenty minutes later he is back asleep and there is once again peace- but Kili has decided not to trust it and goes to open his mouth emidiatly, but is cut off before he can begin.
"Kili I wish to speak of a metter of great importance"
The tone in the elves voice sends a jolt of panic through the young dwarf and he swallows thickly before gesturing for Tauriel to continue, dreading what her words may be.
"I wish for you to know that I harbor romantic feeling for you, and should like very much if you would allow me to court you."
Kili stares a moment, then stares some more. Then he blinks three times in rapid succession.
Tauriel twists her hands nervously in her lap before withdrawing a small box from the flods of her tunic. Opening it allows Kili to see a beautifully crafted crafted pair of beads, each made of onyx with petrified wood inlaid.
Suddenly a near-hysterical laugh echoes throughout the room, and Kili is shocked to realise it has come from himself.
Slapping a hand over his mouth he reaches into his own pocket to withdraw a box similar to Tauriel's, opening it to reveal two beads of his own. Crafted from jade, they are made into the appearance of leaves.
To his relief Tauriel catches onto the irony of the situation, and begins to laugh as well. After a moment Kili calms himself enough to ask; "May I braid your hair Armariline?"
With a smile that makes Kili's heart sore, Tauriel nods. "If you will allow me the same honour?"
Kili agrees instantly, and moves to his love- right at a cry rings throughout the space once again.
ONCE AGAIN- thank you so much Nanath! I would have no courage to post this but I'm doing it anyway! (Seriously though, I saw this ask at 2:43 am, its now 3:21. No quality here)

So a friend of mine told me about a story she read where Bilbo wasn’t home when Gandalf came to see him (he was on a different adventure) and Gandalf decides to put the mark on his door anyways. So when Bilbo comes home he finds Dwalin there. Obviously he doesn’t put up with it and kicks Dwalin out of his house. So when Balin gets there Dwalin is just hanging out on the lawn not knowing what to do. She can’t remember the title and I really want to read it! Does anyone know of any fics that sound like this? Please and thank you!! (May or may not be complete)

Word count 1,084
Climbing the stairs to where she thought the company was Thennith stopped in her tracks, her hair stood on its ends and her ears twitched, something was silently approaching her, turning around Thennith breath caught in her throat as her eyes landed on a face she thought she would have never seen again. Sitting with Balin and Dwalin, Thorin was making plans on what was the best route they could take to get to Erebor faster, repeating the moon ruins from the map Thorin scratched his head in confusion. "What does it all mean?" Thorin huffed looking at the two dwarves who always had his back.
"It means we need to leave as soon as we can" Dwalin spoke as he picked his axe and walked over to the rest of the company laughing at Bombour who had just broken a table and landed on the floor.
Standing Thorin walked to the edge of the balcony and looked out over Rivendell, lost in his own thoughts he lowed his eyes to the stairs where he found Thennith and another elf talking taking in the sight of Thennith her pale blonde hair shone in the moonlight, her bright blue eyes were shining as she had a rare smile on her face, leaning on the balcony wall Thorin let out a long sigh as a small but fond smile rose on his own face.
"She is something Laddie" Balin said patting Throin on the back.
Dropping the smile Thorin turned to his old friend, like a dwarfling who just got in trouble.
"Thorin, I am older enough to know the look of love in someone eyes" Balin spoke as he smiled at his king and turned his eyes to Thennith on the stairs.
"Can she be my one?" Thorin asked like a scared dwarfling.
"If you think about her all the time, and want her to be safe, I would say so" Balin said with a huge smile on his face, to finally see Thorin happy.
Nodding his head Thorin turned his back to balcony and saw the rest of the company had settled down for the night "we leave at first light Balin, get some sleep" he told his own friend before looking back over Thennith with a smile on his face and walking over and claiming his sleeping spot, watching Thorin settle down Balin turned back to the elves and watched their silent conversation.
"My lady Galadriel, I did not expect to see you here" Thennith spoke in shock at the sight of her, it had been over 400 years since she had last seen her.
"I am here on council business, Thennith, but I am glad to see you are indeed alive, your brother...."
"Yes Thranduil thinks I am dead, and I would like it kept that way" Thennith said cutting her off, casting her eyes down to the ground.
"I understand Thennith but if I must keep your secret, you must keep a secret for me" the Lady Galadriel spoke watching Thennith confused expression flash on her face, making her laugh "walk with me young one" she said as she headed down to the river bank, followed by Thennith.
Following her, Thennith was listening to her as she told her all that had been happening in Lothlorien and the woodland realm for the years she was not there, as the Lady finally went silent Thennith asked "so what is your secret?"
Leaning in closer Galadriel looked around before saying "I think I have a crush on Gandalf."
Feeling the laughter bubbling Thennith couldn't help but let it out, making the lady Galadriel laugh out loud too "are you serious?" Thennith asked while still laughing getting a nod in response making her laugh again.
"Well Thennith it was a joy seeing you again, and your secret is safe with me, but I must attend to my business now" raising her hand to her heart and lowing it the Lady Galadriel walked back towards Lord Elrond's study leaving Thennith staring after her, before she turned back towards the company of dwarves.
Watching Thennith and the other elf walking along the lower river bank Balin saw them stopped as they both let out a loud laugh before turning and smiling at each other, smiling at them Balin was glad to see Thennith relax letting out a little giggle he saw them still being illuminated by the moon as the cleared night slowly moved along towards dawn, watching the other elf leave Thennith side he saw her smile drop changing her carefree face into a more serious one as she made her way up towards them.
Turning back to the company Balin shook his head at this night Thorin thinking he has found his one and  Thennith was happy for a few minutes he thought to himself as he watched the rest of them sleep as Thennith appeared at the top of the stairs "we leave first thing in the morning lass" Balin told her getting a small nod in return as she turned and headed to the room they were gifted, while unbraiding her hair.
Watching her turn with her hair fully unbraided she mouthed a "goodnight" to Balin, doing a double take he swore he saw King Thranduil standing in her place, blinking a few times he saw it was just Thennith standing there, mouthing his own "goodnight" back with a small smile he watched her return to her path towards her room.
Walking to Thorin's side Balin sat himself down thinking over the events of the past few years. After a while it hit Balin like an arrow to the heart, Thorin had spent years writing letters to an elf maiden called Thennith but the young dwarf lord never got any in return, it couldn't be her it just couldn't be, because that name also belonged to Princess Thennith of the woodland realm, Thranduil's twin sister who was meant to be dead, letting out a heavy sigh Balin looked up to the sky what is he meant to do now if she was the forgotten Princess he would have to tell her he knew exactly who she was, turning to the sleeping form of Thorin Bailn felt horrible Thorin had hated anyone one from the woodland realm for the past 60 years and now his one could not only be from there but Thranduil's sister, this would not end well Balin thought to himself before he closed his eyes to get some sleep.

Joining this unique company has possibly been the best thing that has happened to me. The notion of restoring someone’s home to them and the prospect of possibly fighting a dragon, it was truly a hero’s tale. Being Gandalf’s apprentice was the reason for how I was able to join this noble quest. Not only to be a teachable lesson and great learning experience, but it also put Gandalf’s mind at ease to keep me by his side.
“(Y/N), this will be your biggest and most difficult lesson yet,” Gandalf said as we started our trek to meet with the dwarves at a particular hobbit’s home. “There will be hardships along the way, but do not let them dissuade you. Focus and remember the spells I have taught you.”
“Yes,” I nodded.
“But most importantly remember to have hope that is our strongest weapon.”
“Hope?” At the time, I didn’t understand what Gandalf was saying or implying.
“Yes, hope. Hope lights the way for us to continue to move forward and fight another day.”
Now, I understood. That is what this company desperately needed. After countless attack from orc packs, the company has fallen into a depressing mood. The mountain does not to appear to be getting closer, we all lack from a proper rest, and the last orc attack cost us a hefty portion of food. I knew I needed to somehow reignite the hope that started at the beginning of this journey. How could I give these men the hope to keep moving and to keep fighting? How could I inspire when my own hope was dwindling as well? Yes, I was a wizard. But, unfortunately, a wizard still in training. I hardly had the experience or knowledge as Gandalf and may never.
It was nighttime. No stars or moon shone tonight, only grey skies were painted above us. An aftermath from the earlier rainstorm. We were tired, damp, and feeling completely hopeless. Fortunately, Thorin decided it was best to stop for the night to rest and recover.
I plopped onto the ground in front of the fire crossing my legs. My staff laid across my lap. My back hunched over weary from the long day of travel. Weighed down, physically and emotionally, by the daunting task ahead of us. I took of my robe and laid it front of the fire along with every other coat and tunic from the group. Bombour cooked us a warm pot of soup which brought a smile on some faces, mine included. While eating my soup, I scanned the group seeing most of them chattering randomly about anything to distract themselves from the possible rising issue: will we make it to the mountain in time? From across the fire, Thorin sat with his stoic face. Did he fell the same? Did he think we could make it?
Seeing Thorin, knowing how much this quest meant to him and his people, I thought back to my own family. I thought about the village I grew up in and how it was destroyed in a single night by orcs. I thought about how I was the only survivor because of an unknown power inside me. I thought about how Gandalf took me under his wing and started to guide me into using my gifts. I thought how I sympathized greatly with the great King under the Mountain and his people; losing your home is devastating.
But most of all, I thought about the hard times with my family. The hopeless times we felt. Would we make it through the winter? Did we have enough money to survive? What could we sell to get more food? Then I remembered how my mother always sang us songs during those times. Songs that were silly to cheer us up, songs that were sad but spoke the truth, and songs that she made up entirely. She had a wonderful voice. I miss her.
Staring at the flames, I thought about her and what she said one time. “One song could inspire anyone to do anything. Fight a dragon, save a life, or protect a country. Hell, one song inspired your father to marry me,” my mother said. I could still here my father laughing about what my mother had just said.
One song could inspire anyone to do anything. I hummed to myself. Maybe that’s what they need. A song to boost hope. But what song? I knew hundreds from my mother, ones heard on the street and ones she made up, but none of them seemed to fit this moment.
Make one up. My mother’s voice said in my head. You’ve done it before with me and without me. Find the tune and the words will follow.
Taking a deep breath, I closed my eyes. A soft tune begun in my head, string instruments with a low beat to keep the pace. I tapped out the beat, slow and steady. Just as my mother always said the words followed to match the tone of the music.
“Oh, misty eye of the mountain below,” I sang. Low and quiet, almost unsure of myself. I kept my eyes closed as a continued a little louder, “Keep careful watch of my brothers’ souls.” I could hear the mumbling of the company quiet down. I focused on the music in my heart and the song that wanted to come out.
“And should the sky be filled with fire and smoke
Keep watching over Durin’s son
If this is to end in fire
Then we should all burn together
Watch the flames climb high into the night
Calling out for the rope, sent by and we will
Watch the flames burn on the on the mountain side
And if we should die tonight
Then we should we die together
Raise a glass of wine for the last time
Calling out for the rope
Prepare as we will
Watch the flames burn on and on mountain side
Desolation come upon the sky
Now I see fire, inside the mountain
I see fire, burning the trees
And I see fire, hollowing souls
And I see fire, blood in the breeze
And I hope that you’ll remember me”
I finished singing, I knew more could be added to the song but the words stopped flowing. However, I knew my message was heard. I opened my eyes to see everyone staring at me with awe in their eyes. My cheeks warmed under their stares.
“That was beautiful,” Bofur exclaimed.
“Thanks,” I muttered shimming in my spot.
“Aw, don’t be embarrassed now. You have a wonderful voice, and who knew!” Bofur turned to the others who all started to agree with him.
“Again, thanks.”
“Did you come up with the song on your own,” Fili asked.
“Uh, yes. I, um, thought it would be nice for, uh, me to create a song for this, uh, quest and lift everyone’s mood,” I stuttered over my words as I tried to explain.
“Well, my spirit has definitely been lifted,” Bofur claimed. Everyone nodded or mumbled in agreement.
“Truly?”
Bofur opened his mouth to speak when a different voice chimed in. “Your song was wonderful and inspiring. Thank you, (Y/N). I hope to hear it again on this journey,” Thorin spoke. The others wholeheartedly agreed wanting to hear me sing again and thanked me for the song I created for them.
Kili spoke this time. “Maybe you could teach it to us.”
“Of course! I would love to,” I grinned.
My eyes scanned over the group seeing their eyes refilled with hope and energy. Smiles all plastered on their lips and their conversations took a new turn of getting to the mountain and what they will do once they reclaimed their home. I spotted Gandalf who had his pipe in his mouth and a smirk on his lips. He nodded in my direction with pride in his eyes. I knew he was silently praising and thanking me for a job well done.

I think it's really funny that Tolkien took all this time and effort to create entire languages, worlds, hierarchies, monsters, politics, traditions and cultures, and the best-known versions of races and species such as orcs and hobbits, and yet the names
Oh yeah, that's Mount Doom.
Over there is Farmer Maggot.
That over there is Bilbo Baggins. His dad's name is Bungo, and he has an uncle named Bingo. He has an ancestor named Balbo. He has a cousin named Drogo who has a son named Frodo. He has a cousin named Otho who has a son named Lotho. He's friends with a gardener named Hamfast who has a son named Halfred.
Yeah, that's the king Aragorn. His dad is Arathorn.
That's Boromir over there with his brother Faramir.
That's King Thorin. He's the son of Thrain who's the son of Thror. He currently lives in The Blue Mountain. He has a cousin also named Thorin who's from The Iron Hills.
That's Dwalin and his brother Balin. Oh, and those Dori, Nori, and Ori; Dori and Nori are brothers and Ori is their cousin. Don't forget about the princes Fili and Kili. Then of course who could forget Bifur and his nephew Bofur. Bofur's brother Bombour is always with them. Then who can forget Oin and his brother Gloin; not to mention their dad's name is GROIN.
There's two different characters named Marigold and two different Myrtles.
And then one of the most powerful people in the entire universe is just named Tom. Freaking TOM.
UPDATE. Just found out Tom Bombadil has a horse named Fatty Lumpkin.

He heard her soft voice against the winds, and he had to know, “Why?” he softly asked as he looked into those hazel pools that have seen so much more than he could ever imagine, “Why do you do this?”
She sighs, suddenly feeling the years bearing down on her. “My life has been long. My only family is dead, and my friends are gone. My home is nothing but a crumbled ruin now.” She took a breath and looked into his eyes, “You have a chance to live a life with your family. I want to make sure it stays that way even if I must lose my own in the process.”
A different take on the Quest as well as a certain twist to everything we thought we knew.

I think its interesting that people emphasize that Bofur, Bifur, and Bombour come from the Blue Mountains when the fact is they all came from the Blue Mountains. I guess its supposed to mean they originally came from the Blue Mountains as another race of dwarves. Just so you know, to those who haven't read any Tolkien, Thorin lead his people to the north part of the Blue Mountains after fail to reclaim Moria and the battle of Azanulbizar.
