Best Gift Ever, Lando Norris

“Alright bud, give daddy your hand until we’re inside…”
“But daddy, we’re home!” he whimpered, rolling his eyes at his father, “we’re in the gar-gage.”
“Garage, bud…and I know!” he said quickly, “but you know how mummy reacts if you aren’t holding my hand, even in the garage…the door’s not shut yet!”
“But daddy we can’t go in yet! We have to get mummy another giff!” Landon, the carbon-copy version of the young driver explained to his father as he tugged on the leg of his sweats, attempting to pull him back to the car to go back out to the shops, “mummy needs giffs on love day! WE HAVE TO go back out!”
“And I’m telling you, Landon, we’ve already got mummy a lot of gifts,” Lando chuckled as he held up the armful of bags that were for his long-time girlfriend, almost all of which his son had been meticulous in picking out for her, “your mum will be happy, I promise!”
The four-year-old huffed as he shook his head, his own curls bouncing as he shook it, “no daddy…is not enough! Gotta really surprise her! Mummy loves being surprised!”
“Trust me, bub…I think I’ll be plenty surprised!” you offered as your boyfriend struggled to open the door. You leaned against the frame and pressed the button that would close the garage door. Your boyfriend gave you a solemn look; one that reminded you of when you would catch him trying to sneak a cookie off for him and his son before dinner, “Lando…thought you were taking Landon to Carlos’ villa to see him for the day! Landon…did you see Uncle Carlos?”
“You were supposed to be out at the spa with Kelly and P…” Lando said quickly, in hopes that you wouldn’t question his son. But Landon was quick with his response.
“No mummy, we were buying you giffs!”
“Oh is that so?” you teased, looking to your boyfriend, “I would have never guessed. And what did you and daddy get me? Hmm?”
“Landon, go get changed, bud, yeah? Mummy’s gonna help me with the presents!”
Landon’s eyes widened, and he bolted inside, “I’mma get changed mummy! DON’T OPEN PRESENTS WITHOUT ME!”
You giggled as you heard your son padding up the stairs, no doubt to change out of the outfit he was matching his father in, and into something more comfortable like his pjs so he could lounge about, “smart of you to send him off before he could spoil all of your efforts.”
“What about Kelly and P?” he repeated, hoping to change the subject.
“P cried when she had to leave Max’s side…P’s become quite attached to Max…and well, you know Kelly,” you frowned, reminding your boyfriend with a look how you felt about his girlfriend lately, “Kelly wanted to complain about how Max hasn’t proposed yet…”
Lando rolled his eyes as your shared son ran back down stairs missing his pants, and halfway into his onesie, “Bud…what are you doing?”
“I didn’t want mummy to start,” he said quickly, latching onto Lando so that he could slide his legs into it, “mummy didn’t start, right?”
“I didn’t, baby…want to let go of daddy and give me a hug though?” you asked, “I missed my baby bear all day!”
Landon grinned and let go of his father’s hand, before running up to your side, immediately hugging your bare thigh. His head hit the hem of your shorts and the bottom of your hoodie and you laughed, throwing the hood up over his head. Your golden retriever padded excitedly behind you and Landon’s attention quickly went to the puppy that you both agreed to get your son for his birthday.
“MICK!”
“Be nice to Mclaren!” Lando reminded his son, “Gentle hands, bud…he’s still a pup.”
“Do you need help with your shopping spree, Mr. Norris?”
Lando tried to keep his own amused expression off his face as you hid your own behind the sleeve of your hoodie.
“No thank you…they’re for a very special someone on Valentine’s Day…and she doesn’t need to see what I picked out for her until they’re wrapped…”
“What you picked out…or what Landon picked out?”
“There are some bags from me in there…that I…had preordered to be picked up…”
“Gifts that our son shouldn’t see?”
“Gifts that might aid in you letting me recreate your favorite gift of all…”Lando smirked sneakily as he dropped the bags by the door and stalked up to his girlfriend, sliding his arms around her waist.”
“Oh, and what gift was that?” you teased.
His eyes sparkled, “the one that I gave you almost five years ago…the one toddling around, chasing after the dog that he begged for…”
“Oh?” you teased, “you mean the gift that managed to trick you into buying him a puppy a whole month before his birthday?”
Lando smiled, and your son mirrored his reaction as he looked up at you as well, “mummy, daddy…what are you two talking about?”
“And you think that you want to recreate that gift?” you teased, giving your boyfriend another glance.
He nodded, his lips coming closer until they grazed yours. Your eyes closed ever so slightly as you leaned towards your boyfriend, closing the distance. He deepened the kiss in an instant, holding you impossibly close. And then he pulled away.
“This time though…I want a carbon copy of you…” he told you softly, “I want us to have a little girl, love…one that’s got me wrapped around her little finger just as much as I am wrapped around yours!”
