park ranger benrey would like to battle! and also keep asking for your fishing license even though you keep telling them that you’re just here to battle!! also there isn’t even a body of water nearby anyway why are you doing this to me!!!
@microwavesludge had a fun idea for people doing a trainer benry for every pokemon type like the hatsune miku/pokemon voltage crossover and i picked grass 👍🍃 this was such a good idea i love pokemon and benyreyry
and yes i did painstakingly recreate the kanji in the bg to try and make it look more like speedwriter font
joshua’s a raichu only because i didn’t want gordon to seem like a neglectful dad (like 90% of pokemon dads) leaving his kid behind to go on fun pokemon adventures. also i know benry’s supposed to be a grass trainer here but i also think he should have a porygon. i have many more brainworms about this but i don’t want to burden this post with them so i’m gonna stop now bye.

[Start ID: 4 pages of HLVRAI narrative doodles following the Science Team's reaction to Gordon in the Mark V HEV Suit, AKA the one with the orange hip pieces.
Gordon pushes Benrey's head away from him and holds him at arm's length in tired response to Benrey's continuous prodding at the hip pieces on his HEV suit. This interaction is from a later part in the timeline as implied by Gordon already having a gun-arm. Gordon sighs: "Quit touchin' it, man." Benrey, sitting on the floor, resumes his prodding undeterred with a grin. Next to this is the start of the narrative doodles from an earlier part in the timeline, when the team enters the Black Mesa Locker Room. Benrey speaks as he's walking away from Gordon and towards the further end of the room: "why're you, why're you runnin' around with your hips accentuated like that? that's a workplace violation." He then shoots a pigeon perched on a locker room bench. Gordon holds a palm up facing Benrey in a "stop" sign, silent for a moment in disbelief before saying: "Don't look at me if you're gonna be having those thoughts."
Tommy walks up next to Gordon, saying: "But Mr Freeman, you're not- It says "no revealing clothing" in the labs dress code." Gordon gives him a confused look: "…I am in the HEV suit. Tommy, I am-" Gordon grabs Tommy by the arm, startling the taller man and continues: "There's barely any part of me that is exposed!" "Oh dear," Dr Coomer says, a hand to his chest, "Gordon, that is no way to dress in this facility. It'd do you good to change into something more appropriate."
"Wuh- HOW IS THIS MY FAULT? You're objectifying me!!" Gordon yells, arms spread in exasperation. Tommy clarifies: "It's lab safety!" Gordon ignores him, voice overlapping: "I am- this is LITERALLY the company suit, the one DESIGNED for me to do MY JOB! Take your qualms up with the designers or something!" Behind them, Benrey opens a locker door labelled with the name "Roswell" on it and looks in, remarking: "oh yo, they've got pictures in here." Gordon composes himself a bit: "Look, if I told a co-worker that her…" he stutters, stalling, "I dunno! That her skirt was too short or…something, and I told her to go change, you would chew me out for it." Dr Coomer cuts in, displeased with Gordon's behaviour in the made-up scenario: "Gordon, that is uncalled for." Gordon turns back to him, jabbing a hand in his direction: "SEE?! Yeah, like that! Why am I different??"
Dr Coomer tuts at Gordon, wagging a finger: "Now now, Gordon, that's no way to treat a co-worker. Clothing comes secondary to the good work we all do here. Do try to be more professional." Gordon is nearly at the end of his rope: "It. That was an EXAMPLE. Of what y'all were doing to me." He throws his arms up in the air, exclaiming: "Coomer, you said so yourself! Don't put words into my mouth-" Tommy interjects, rubbing his hands in discomfort: "Mr Freeman, that's against the Code of Conduct. I'm gonna have to report you to HR, uh, for workplace harassment." Gordon lets out a strained wheeze of laughter, dropping his head into his hands. He looks back up and gasps for air, letting a hand slide down his face. He mutters, on the verge of hysterics: "I'm being framed. I'm being framed for something I didn't do." "Oh, I DO love a good frame!" Dr Coomer reponds, obliviously chipper. A string of calm blue sweet voice floats in from off-screen and pelts Gordon in the shoulder. /End ID.]

this is a follow up to that bonus thing i drew forever ago from this post. there is no point behind this comic existing. here u go
[ID: The first panel is black, speech bubbles of different colors reading, “Oh!” and “Gordon?” The second panel is Gordon groggily opening his eyes. The third panel is Benrey and Tommy looking down at him. Tommy says, “Mr. Freeman, you fainted! And it— you’re laying on the Chuck-E-Cheese floor!”
In the bottom part of the image, Tommy continues with, “I don’t think it’s... clean.” He looks concerned, hand outstretched towards Gordon. Gordon, still disoriented, reassures him by saying, “It’s fine, Tommy.” Beneath the bubble, indicating he’s talking quietly, Gordon says, “Hey, Darnold.” To which Darnold replies with, “Hi, Gordon.” Gordon’s head is resting in Darnold’s lap, Darnold looking down at him with a nervous smile.
Tommy keeps nervously rambling, “Suh—  Sunkist was so worried! You hit your head when you fell, we— the Chuck-E-Cheese first aid, um, booklet said you might be... concussed...” Gordon replies with a tired, “Okay, Tommy.” Sunkist is napping, resting both his paw and head on Gordon’s chest and stomach while Gordon scratches his head. Bubby’s lab coat is draped over Gordon like a blanket. Benrey is staring at him in a sort of daze, peach-pink sweet voice beginning to bubble from their mouth. /End ID.]

Whatever the Fuck Benrey is: Chapter Twelve: Points for Trying
Chapter One
Previous Chapter
~
Gordon woke to sunlight streaming in through the gaps in the curtains. Benrey was still snuggled up to him. Somehow all the remaining awkwardness had dissipated while they’d slept. Two lonely people cuddling, what had to be weird or awkward about that? It felt nice so why shouldn’t they? And it had worked. If he’d had another nightmare, it hadn’t been vivid enough to recall, let alone wake him.
Eventually Benrey stirred as if waking too. “Good morning,” Gordon whispered even though surely proper morning had passed by now. “Ready to get up?” He certainly wasn’t but he’d live if Benrey was.
Benrey shifted but made no move to get up or free himself from Gordon’s embrace. “Hmm… morning. Five more mins?”
“Sure, five more minutes.” Even if it would undoubtedly be more than that it didn’t matter. Gordon had stuff to do today but it could wait.
A purr rumbled in Benrey’s chest in response. Not as loud as the one last night but it still meant he was happy and content. This was nice for him too.
“Do you think uh… we could do this again?” Gordon kept his voice to a whisper lest he break the comfortable peace between them. He wouldn’t have said anything at all but while up and about, not half asleep in each other’s arms, the question would be awkward and weird. “I know you don’t need to sleep every night like I do but maybe you could…”
“Cuddle you to sleep anyway?” Benrey supplied for him as he trailed off.
“Uh… yeah. If you’re okay with that. You don’t have stay the whole night just ‘til I fall asleep.” Maybe that would be enough.
“Wow, can’t even fall asleep without help, huh? A helpless little uh… human, gotta be cuddled to sleep at night.” Any bite his teasing might have had was heavily dampened by the fact that he was whispering too and still purring lightly. “But sure, I’m a cool guy so I’ll help.”
“Thanks.”
~
‘Five more minutes’ was indeed far longer than five minutes in truth but it did eventually come to an end. It would’ve been nice for a bit longer even but Gordon needed to get up and move.
Upon exiting the room and heading off to meet up with the rest of the Science Team for lunch – they had indeed slept well past morning time – it almost felt like a dream. Nothing about his interactions with Benrey once they’d gotten out of bed were much different than they’d been yesterday. Though perhaps that was hard to judge considering how their interactions had gone from antagonistic to friendly to cuddling relatively quickly. Those phone conversations had gone a long way towards cementing the tentative friendship they’d formed playing games together for an evening. But they’d full on cuddled twice now, surely that should change something, right? … It didn’t though. Which was preferable so Gordon wasn’t going to think about it anymore.
After lunch, there was not much else to do but continue the search for a place to live. Even if he wanted to move in somewhere soon as possible, it was still a good idea to get the lay of the land before bothering to make appointments to look inside anywhere. Since the whole Science Team was in the same boat in that regard, driving around to look together made sense.
Despite deciding to take the Black Mesa car instead of Bubby’s, Bubby still claimed the driver’s seat which meant by unquestioned agreement, Dr. Coomer got shotgun. Leaving Benrey, Gordon, and Tommy to get into the back again. Such seemed to be how they were going to default to riding in a car together. It wouldn’t have been so bad except Benrey pointed out, “I sat middle last time. It sucked. Your turn, like you said.”
“I guess I did say, huh?” The means of their return trip meant he hadn’t had to live up to his promise to swap for the window seat with Benrey. He could perhaps ask Tommy to switch instead but he’d already got in so, with a sigh, Gordon slid in to the middle seat.
Benrey slid in next, closing the door behind him and sandwiching Gordon between him and Tommy. It wasn’t so bad though. Yeah, he didn’t have a good view of the outside and less leg room than he preferred but brushing shoulders with both Tommy and Benrey wasn’t much of a problem. He’d recently learned that he was apparently the type of guy who liked cuddling with his friends after all so the causal contact wasn’t an issue.
“Since we’re all uh… looking for places at the same time maybe we could try to be neighbors,” Tommy said as Bubby started the car and got them rolling. “It’s uh… it’s good to live near friends. We could… we could go on walks together with Sunkist and um… just hang out and stuff whenever we want.”
Gordon hadn’t given it much thought before but… “Great idea.” The fact that rooming with Benrey wasn’t going to be nearly as bad as he’d have once thought – would even be fairly nice instead – didn’t mean having the others nearby to help keep him sane wouldn’t be greatly appreciated. Both for the added easily accessed company but also because Benrey was still Benrey. Being friends with and sometimes cuddling him didn’t mean he wasn’t also still an annoying brat.
“With how small this damn town is, we’d likely end up living near each other anyway,” Bubby said. “So sure, I guess we can go out of our way to do it on purpose.”
“Having high friendship levels with one’s neighbors sounds like a grand idea,” was apparently Dr. Coomer’s way of voicing agreement.
***
Counter to how it had felt every time Benrey had made it to Tuefort before, it wasn’t particularly big or grand place. He’d already seen much of it on his solo walks and then his walks with Bubby had taken them out even further. So several of the areas they visited to look at he’d already seen. Stepping out of the car to look around with the idea of maybe living in the area gave it a different vibe but… what made an area a good place to live?
He’d have just stood by and listened to the others discuss it but like when just looking at pictures online yesterday, Gordon asked him his opinion. Where before he’d been passively excluded from conversations if he didn’t insert himself, he was now being dragged in. It wasn’t a bad thing but what was he supposed to say when he didn’t have much of an opinion on any of it?
They were here to look around through so he defaulted to observations. “There’s a crack in the sidewalk.” “That tree’s got a bird’s nest in it.” And other such notable things, some of which he pulled out his camera to take a picture of.
“Is that… a good thing or a bad thing?” Gordon started asking after the second such response. The answer to which was always the same: “I don’t know,” because Benrey truthfully didn’t know. He’d only ever lived in Black Mesa and now the hotel so living anywhere else would be new and thus exciting for a time at least.
Following the third time Gordon asked that, Bubby cut in before Benrey could reply. “Why do you keep asking for his opinion? I don’t think he cares.”
“Well… he’s gonna be living with me so I think he should have at least somewhat of a say on where we live. I mean, ideally we’re both happy with the house we chose and everyone as a group, are happy with the neighborhood too. So I gotta like ask his opinion… or try to anyway because he’s not helping much.”
“I really don’t care, man.” Everywhere seemed pretty much the same to Benrey. “‘Long as it’s got a place I can make my gamer pad, I’ll be happy.”
Gordon let out a heavy sigh. “I guess I’m not surprised. Give me points for trying though, huh?”
“You get five points for trying Gordon,” Coomer said patting him on the shoulder. “If you keep this pace up you’ll unlock his next heart event in no time.”
“What’s a heart event?”
Coomer didn’t answer as he started fast-walking back towards the car. “Come along now, Gordon. We have th- Come along now, Gordon. Daylight’s-” He was apparently too far away to finish that line.
Gordon fell in step with Benrey as they started following at a more sedate pace. “You know what a ‘heart event’ is?”
“An event with hearts, duh.” What else would it be? Though what it had to do with Benrey was a mystery.
Gordon chuckled. “Well, yeah, of course. But what are we supposed to do with the hearts?”
“Uh… eat them, maybe? I don’t know. Coomer’s kinda weird sometimes.”
“Well knowing even you think he’s kinda weird makes me feel a bit better, I guess.”
“’Heart event’ sounds like something from an um, uh… dating game,” Tommy supplied from behind them. “So maybe he thinks you guys are uh… dating or going to date.”
Gordon scoffed. “Nah, not fucking happening.”
“They make dating games?” From what Benrey understood about the concept of dating, it didn’t sound like something possible to make a game about.
“You wouldn’t like them. They’re visual novels, basically,” Tommy replied. “Some of them are uh… interesting in a very specific way with very specific kinds of art so maybe you might like those, assuming you’re into um… that kinda stuff. Which I don’t know if you are. I could give recommendations for some good ones if you want.”
“Nah, no thanks.” Benrey had tried visual novels before, they were only slightly more interesting than actual novels. But regardless, Coomer thought he and Gordon were dating? Why? … Well, to be fair, Benrey wasn’t sure what all dating entailed for the people doing it, maybe him and Gordon were doing dating like things. Gordon said they weren’t though so probably it was just Coomer being weird.
~
After that they only visited a couple more spots. There weren’t exactly many available neighborhoods to move into. Despite having established that Benrey didn’t care about the area they lived, Gordon still asked him to provide his opinion on both locations, though he didn’t press when given a noncommittal answer. Which did earn him some points as it was neat that he cared about what Benrey thought.
Once done it was time for dinner. Despite still having groceries, they went out for pizza again. Over it the four to them discussed what all they’d apparently learned during their outing. Benrey only half paid attention to most of it. The housing situation was mostly up to Gordon to figure out. … Unless he decided to get a job and his own place.
He liked having easy access to someone to play games with though. And he’d already promised to help Gordon sleep at night. So he was kind of stuck, right? … Both could be fixed by living near him though. Benrey could hang out at his place in the evenings and during the night and go home in the morning when Gordon went to work or something.
Regardless before deciding on that, he needed to figure out the whole making money thing first. He’d never got paid for his old job as security guard and all the money he had made to buy games when escaping to Tuefort’s Gamestop had come from playing poker with the paid guards. Could he do that and earn enough to pay rent or… what had Gordon called it? A mortgage? What even was that and what did it have to do with housing?
So much had changed that’d he never thought would and it had happened so quickly. Much faster than he was ready to jump right into dealing with. So… for now he was just going to keep following Gordon. He was due a PS3 from him eventually anyway.
***
Even in a small town and trying to find a place quickly because living out of a hotel sucked, it took much longer than Gordon would’ve liked before they settled on something and then a bit longer before they could finally move in. In addition to wanting space for a ‘gamer pad’ Benrey’s only other actionable point of preference was that he liked carpeted floors over tiled ones. Which, with Gordon not have much of a preference either way, did narrow down their options a little, making it a bit easier even if it wasn’t by much.
The place was small, only one story and a small basement, and a bit rundown but it was a proper house. With the bonus and raise from Black Mesa, Gordon could afford that now. Heck, he could afford to buy a house instead of rent if he wanted to but when that happened, he wanted to not feel like he was in a rush to move out, so he could have more time to look. Technically he’d been able to afford such before, though not nearly as comfortably and living at the facility had meant he hadn’t needed to.
Being bigger than his old living space made it better by default. The rest of the Science Team had all found places they were happy with that were all within comfortable walking distance too, fortune had favored them on that. Making moving in another big step towards everything being okay again.
With Benrey having nothing except for the clothes and Game Boy Gordon had given him and Gordon having not much more in the way of possessions, it didn’t take them long to finish moving in. The Game Cube and Xbox they put in the living room even though currently there was no TV present; that was the main thing missing.
“How often do you eat?” Gordon asked as he opened the ancient looking fridge in the kitchen, making sure he’d turned it on right. Seemingly he had.
“Whenever I’m hungry,” Benrey replied as he wandered into the kitchen behind Gordon. “Why? And when we gonna get a TV?” Of course that was the main thing he was thinking about.
“Soon. And I need to know how often you need to eat ‘cause we gotta go grocery shopping and I need to know how much to get. So… about how often do you get hungry?”
“Uh… don’t know, never paid attention to that kinda stuff. We gonna get a computer too?”
“I’m gonna get one for basic internet stuff first and then later we can take the time to buy the parts to build a proper one for gaming. We also still gotta get internet set up too.” There were just so many little things that needed attending to when moving into a new place. Not having to deal with all that had been a benefit to the living arrangements of Black Mesa. He had the essentials taken care of though so he could worry about internet and possibly cable later. “But uh… for now I guess I’ll just get a little more food than I normally would. Wanna go shopping with me so you can tell me what you like?”
Benrey opened his mouth to respond but Gordon interrupted, “We’ll get a TV while we’re out too,” because there was no way Benrey hadn’t been about to bring that up again; couldn’t play games without one.
“Let me guess, a cheap, used one?”
“Uh… actually no, we’ll get a new one. Not a super fancy one but a new one.” He had to follow through on that promise to get a PS3 sometime soon, an up to date TV would probably work best with it.
“Sweet, let’s go.”
~
They’d gone grocery shopping once more since their first trip. Benrey had gone with again that time but so had the rest of the Science Team. Now it was just the two of them. Gordon expected Benrey to wander off anyway like he had the first two times – not returning at all until the rest of them were on their way out during that second trip – but by some miracle he actually listened when told him to stay near. Which didn’t mean he stayed next to Gordon and the cart, just that he hovered nearby, only wandering slightly ahead or behind.
It made asking his opinions on what food Gordon should get for him a bit inconvenient but actually possible. Not that he had many opinions on food. Like where they lived, he didn’t seem to care. It was annoying and frustrating because Gordon was trying to accommodate him as was the polite thing to do for one’s roommate who had apparently lived their whole life locked in up a lab and was finally free but Benrey was making it really damn hard. But well… “What kind of stuff did you eat at Black Mesa?”
Benrey paused from his perusal of the various available cheeses, turning to look at him. “Stuff from the vending machines mostly or uh… they gave me things to eat sometimes to see if it’d do something to me. Sometimes I stole stuff from the break room fridges.”
As expected he’d likely never had access to much good food – and who knows what kind of non-food things they’d made him eat? – thus when asked stuff like if he had a preference for regular milk or oat milk because Gordon liked both, he responded with, “You can milk oats?” as a serious question. Given that, Gordon should pick out a handful of things for him to try to broaden his experience and maybe find something that he would like. And so…
“Just tell me one thing you like to eat and I’ll pick out a variety of stuff for the rest.” Even if it would likely be junk, that way if he proved to be picky, there’d still be something for him when he got hungry.
“Ivory soap.”
“Ivory soap as in like… the bars of soap under the brand Ivory?”
“Yep. You can uh… put it in the microwave and it puffs up so it’s like eating a cloud. They stopped buying it at Black Mesa a while ago ‘cause I kept eating it, started getting the dumb liquid soap for everything instead which doesn’t taste as good.”
Gordon took a breath, intending to ask if he really, truly, actually ate bar soap and liked it, but let it out in a sigh instead. Of course Benrey ate soap. He wasn’t human so why should he only eat human food? Honestly there were worse things he could’ve said, at least soap would make his breath smell nice. Not that him smelling bad was a problem, he didn’t seem to smell like much of anything other than at most the hotel soap and shampoo after a shower. So… “All right, I’ll get you a box of Ivory soap then.”
“Sweet.”
***
Upon returning from their shopping trip, it took longer to put everything away and set up their new TV than moving in had. But finally upon finishing they were set to go. Mostly anyway, there was still the computer and internet to deal with. But at last they could relax on their couch that had come with their new house and play video games again on their new TV. … Or well, all of it was all really Gordon’s and Benrey was just mooching off him. But going out and getting his own stuff was still just a thought he was toying with. And he wasn’t in the mood to dwell on it right now.
Instead he focused on the game. Both he and Gordon were getting pretty adept at playing with only one hand. Benrey could use either hand equally well which Gordon seemed to think was impressive for some reason so he always switched between rounds or sometimes mid-round just for fun.
They played late into the evening until it was time for dinner. Benrey wasn’t really hungry but it had been so long since he’d last had an Ivory soap, he popped one in the microwave and ate it anyway. The look Gordon gave him as he did so was funny but he didn’t say anything. Seems he was getting used to Benrey’s oddities and thus perhaps it was time for Benrey to step up his game a bit. Afterwards, they returned to gaming and played until bedtime.
As had become habit, despite not being the one that would die if he didn’t sleep enough, it was Benrey who had to call it once it was obvious that Gordon was starting to get tired. He was a good pet owner like that, took real good care of his fragile human. Gordon wasn’t going to be dying of sleep deprivation – the thing itself or any accidents that resulted from it – or anything else while on his watch. There wasn’t even much of an argument this time, Gordon merely sighed and stood as Benrey turned the console and TV off.
“So, uh, how do you like the house so far?” He asked as as they started down the hall together. “It nice to have a real place to live?”
“Hmm… yeah.” It was bigger than their hotel room and was a building for just the two of them. And one of the two bedrooms had been promised to converted into a gamer pad. For his old gamer pad, Benrey had had to hunt and search basically the whole facility before he’d found a room that was not only out of the way enough that no one would try too hard to get in once finding it locked and barricaded, but was also still a decent size and had working outlets to plug things into. And now he was just being given a room to rebuild in, no effort required on his part whatsoever. It was the bigger of the two rooms too since more stuff than just a bed would end up going into it. Once they got the bed frame out, it’d be even spacier.
“Good. Of course if you still want your own place, you’re free to get a job and move out once you can afford it. In between finishing setting up the lab, I could help you do that. I have no idea what kind of job you’d be good at but I’m sure we could figure something out. … Don’t say you were good at being security guard, you sucked at that.”
“Nah, I think I did pretty good. Stopped you from stealing stuff, didn’t I? We’ve uh… established you’re a life-long thief, you admitted to it and everything.”
Gordon sighed and rolled his eyes as he collected his pajamas from his closest before heading into the bathroom to get ready for bed. While waiting for him in the room, Benrey changed into pajamas too because they were comfy, especially when cuddling.
“Bubby says he’s thinking ‘bout getting a job at Aperture,” he said when Gordon finally stepped back in. “I could join him, maybe.”
“That’s probably not a good idea. I don’t know how many, if any, of the rumors about them are true but uh, they for sure take part in the whole experimenting to see how far they can push science stuff at least as much as Black Mesa does, if not more. It’s why they’re our rival. If you went to them and they found our you’re whatever the fuck you are, they’d want to study and experiment on you for sure. They’d want to even more if they knew you came from Black Mesa.”
“Oh, lame.” Benrey had liked Bubby’s point about switching sides to work for Aperture being like a middle finger to Black Mesa. Figures they’d be just as bad though, huh? “Science sucks.”
“I can’t blame you for feeling that way. Don’t worry though, you got plenty of time to figure stuff out. I ain’t planning on kicking you out any time soon. So come on, let’s uh… yeah.”
Benrey followed him to the bed and after turning off the lights, joined him on it. It was softer than the hotel bed but smaller. Not that that was an issue considering how closely they liked to press into each other.
After that first night and the agreement to do it more the next morning, they’d stopped talking about it. Talking about it made it weird apparently which they’d both said to not do. It was nice though because Gordon was warm, soft, and touching him so much continued to be a lot but a decidedly pleasant ‘a lot’. Fighting the instinct to not purr seemed almost easy now as Benrey snuggled into him.
Not needing sleep himself, Benrey often extracted himself after a while once he was sure Gordon was deep asleep – though he always stayed close so if Gordon tensed up with a bad dream, he could return and soothe him back to peace, sometimes without having to wake him. Occasionally he only extracted himself just enough to allow him reach for and hold the Game Boy up – its volume way down. He’d planned to do the latter tonight but it had been a while since he’d slept and now that he was here, it seemed rather appealing.

how would benrey transformer meet gordon?
Ok, I have to preface this by stating I am not a writer. So if any of this sounds dumb. That’s why.
Anyway, I'm gonna infodump to you about my tf au now. This is gonna be kinda like an outline for a fic if I ever would write a fic about it. Don't take it too seriously.
Benrey is a defected Decepticon living on Earth. He arrived on Earth with a couple other bots, but they found him annoying and ditched his ass pretty early on. Not that he really cared much, he prefers to be on his own anyway.
Benrey hangs around on Earth for a while. He finds human culture fascinating and decides to observe it from a distance.
Unfortunately for Benrey, Energon is pretty hard to come by on Earth. He soon realizes that being a Cybertronian living on his own on Earth is almost certainly a death sentence without a proper source of Energon.
So, he begins searching for a source. He knows he can’t really go back to the Decepticons, after defecting there's no way he’d expect any sympathy from them. Going to the Autobots is obviously out of the question. He’s desperate, but he’s not low enough to go crawling to the Autobots begging for help.
Through his searching Benrey eventually catches wind of a certain research facility located in New Mexico, USA. From what Benrey is able to gather, Black Mesa Research Facility has either located a rare on planet Energon source, or has developed technology similar enough to Cybertronian technology that they are able to synthesize their own Energon.
While this is wonderful news to Benrey, he also learns that Black Mesa may have captured several other Cybertronians that had been living on Earth similar to himself. He has no doubt that whatever Black Mesa is doing with these Cybertronians, it doesn’t seem pleasant. Unfortunately, this is Benrey’s only lead, he has no choice but to go through with it. Carefully.
Then like a dumbass, on his way to Black Mesa his Energon reserves run dangerously low. This forces him into a semi-comatose state in the middle of an abandoned desert freeway.
Enter, Gordon Freeman. Gordon is a 27 year old new hire at Black Mesa Research Facility in New Mexico, USA. He has just recently moved across the country, leaving behind his friends and family to grab this once in a lifetime chance to work at the mysterious research facility. He’s finally found a use for the stupid degree that he worked so hard on. By god, is he gonna use it.
Just a little while after getting settled into his new life, his trusty old "dad car" finally kicks the bucket. A begrudging and sad Gordon gathers up what little savings he has and heads to the nearest used car lot.
When he arrives Gordon is less than thrilled. He wasn’t looking for the fanciest car in the first place, god knows he can’t afford that, but so many of these poor old cars look beat to hell and back.
Eventually, Gordon does find something that catches his eye. It’s a big dark blue SUV. It’s absolutely caked in dust and has a couple good scratches and dents, but other than that it seems to be in alright condition. It drives and that’s all Gordon’s really looking for. Though, he does notice a strange looking purple logo on the steering wheel. He decides not to pay it much mind.
When Benrey wakes up he’s somewhere he’s never been before. Not that he’s been to very many places on Earth, but this place is completely unfamiliar. It's an uncomfortably tight space with gray walls and a cold concrete floor. He figures he’d been offline for at least a couple weeks, his Energon reserve’s weak attempt to keep him from burning through it completely.
He decides to stay put, not wanting to waste what little Energon he has left, and also because he’s genuinely curious about where he’s found himself. He assumes it could be some sort of human domicile?
After a few hours of waiting around, Benrey hears a door swing open and the overhead lights flick on. Standing in the doorway across from Benrey is a human.
This human has long frizzy auburn hair pulled up into a tight ponytail, a scruffy beard, cute little square glasses, and oh. Oh man. Are those freckles? Aw, he’s kinda cute. Haha- whuh, oh shit, he’s walking over here?
Gordon drives Benrey right into Black Mesa, unaware that his new car is a sentient alien trying to steal from the facility.
Benrey is thrilled that he’s made it into Black Mesa and he didn’t even have to do anything. But, his excitement is short-lived. Now comes the hardest part, actually getting to the Energon source inside.
After observing his human captor(?) enter the depths of the facility without problem Benrey devises a fool proof plan to get what he wants.
While on his way home from Black Mesa Gordon notices when his new car starts to act strange. Very strange. Abruptly, all control of the vehicle is ripped away from Gordon as it veers off the road on its own accord. Speeding through the sparse foliage and rough terrain of the New Mexico desert, Benrey takes Gordon far away from prying human eyes.
Once Benrey is certain there are no other humans around for miles he unlocks his doors and boots Gordon out of the driver seat onto the dusty desert ground.
Gordon stares up in terror, shock, and genuine confusion at the sight unfolding (literally) in front of him as Benrey transforms. Benrey looms over Gordon as he puts on his very best “scary Decepticon looking to get what he wants” face.
Benrey tries his hardest to get Gordon to fear him, to submit to his master plan of forcing the human to grab the Energon for him. For a bit it works, Benrey is HUGE compared to Gordon and could easily squash him like a bug. Not that Benrey would really wanna do that, that would be kinda icky.
Then, in classic Benrey fashion, he says something ridiculous that has Gordon going from cowering in fear to doubling over with disbelief and laughter.
'Benrey: C’mon man, i'm trying to be scary here. Stop laughin’ at me. You even got the credentials to be out here driving, man? Pretty shit at it. You got the papers? You got a, uh- a passport?
Gordon: I- I’m sorry it's just- Wait, passport? Do you mean like a- a driver’s license?
Benrey: huh?
Gordon: What the actual fuck are you talking about, man?'
The two of them eventually calm down enough that Gordon isn’t screaming in fear or babbling in disbelief. Benrey explains to Gordon his predicament and why he needs him to go through with his “expert plan” to get to the Energon.
Gordon, for one, isn’t buying it. Gordon argues that there’s no way he’s putting the dream job he just got on the line to help the weird terrifying evil car that kidnapped him.
Benrey looms over Gordon again, Benrey’s metal face coming closer to Gordon’s than ever before. He leers him down at him, which Gordon very much takes as some sort of threat.
Then, Benrey stands, stretches his metal joints, and turns around to start walking the other direction into the desert. He tells Gordon that’s fine, and to have good luck making his way home on his own.
Gordon sputters and yells out after Benrey, shouting for him to wait. He considers his options, as much as he really does not want to help Benrey, dying alone in the middle of the desert is not on his bucket list. Not to mention that even if he does somehow make his way home on his own there's no way he could afford to buy ANOTHER car after he just bought this one. So very cautiously and begrudgingly, Gordon agrees.
In the end the two form a sort of symbiosis.  Gordon gets to risk his job to help Benrey get the Energon he needs to survive, and Benrey gets to have fun driving Gordon around on cute little trips to the grocery store and stuff. The two of them might get caught by Black Mesa for their crimes in the future, but it will be fine. They should be able to handle it.

Various betrayal headcanons due to my illnesses
The ambush happens in Half Life anyway, so originally it was gonna go how it does in Half Life, but then Benrey was introduced into the equation and the soldiers decided there could be an easier way to get Gordon into the ambush room.
They basically told Benrey "Look, we only want Freeman, if you lead him to a specific room, we'll ambush him, take him to Topside for… 'questioning', and once we're through with him we will let you and your team go free, turn a blind eye and say we got all of you and let you get eaten by some of those creatures"
Benrey isn't that stupid. He's stupid, but not stupid enough to blindly trust military soldiers. (In his worldview, the US military is Bad, so anything they say must be a cover for something.) He can tell that they're gonna kill Gordon. But unfortunately for all, he's under the assumption that Gordon can respawn. So obviously, get Gordon killed, and the soldiers will assume he's permadead. From there, meet up with Gordon again, get him out of the suit (too identifiable), and then they'll be able to get out alive.
(That part was also a lie. They were never gonna let the rest of the team go. They'd just kill Gordon, then kill the rest of the team. Get rid of the leader, it's easy to pick everyone else off.)
Benrey got Bubby involved because they're besties and because Bubby went off to play soccer with him while the others were discussing their dreams. Bubby agreed because Gordon was being an annoying little bitch and was holding back his speedrun strats :/
And obviously, we know the ambush went absolutely perfectly according to plan is what I would say if I was a fucking liar.
Bubby was pretty much excited the entire time until the arm came off
Benrey started off fuckin HYPED but then Gordon got more beat up and there was more blood and he started to be like "wait this sucks actually"
Once Gordon was in the room and got attacked, Tommy tried to get in to save Gordon, but was being held back by Bubby. He was fuckin TERRIFIED for Gordon's life.
And Dr Coomer... So in Half Life, the ambush is a cutscene, yeah? Well, why wouldn't that be true in HLVRAI too? It's just Half Life with VR and absurdly advanced AI slapped on top of it. The main plot stays the same, though the details are VASTLY different. Therefore, the ambush is just a cutscene with altered context. The gang can talk over it, yes, but it's still a cutscene. Meaning they can't interfere, no matter how much they want to. If anyone tries to walk into or out of the room, they'd just hit an invisible wall. They can't get through it no matter what- can't clip, can't break it, can't do anything.
You will never guess who steps forwards to help and hits the invisible wall first! it's dr coomer
This does not help with his existential crisis (and may have caused him to go full clone fight)
And then Gordon lost his arm and even without the wall, everyone was too shocked to even try to step forwards and help him.
They weren't meant to cut off his arm. That was never discussed with Benrey or Bubby.
Coomer managed to drag Tommy away with him (Tommy needed a minute alone to just completely freak out because What The Fuck, Coomer needed to be alone because not just What The Fuck but also the invisible wall didn't help)
Bubby stayed with Benrey due to guilt, and about half the soldiers dragged Gordon away. The others stayed behind to thank Benrey (they were unaware he'd gotten Bubby involved), and Bubby became FUCKING FURIOUS and attacked them
The remaining soldiers managed to overpower Bubby and drag him off to his tube (which they told Bubby), and Bubby was freaking the fuck out yelling for Benrey (the only other one around at this point) to FUCKING HELP HIM HE'S GONNA GO BACK IN HIS TUBE
Benrey was too in shock to do anything but just stare at Gordon's arm that whole time. He didn't move for a long, long while. (Once he had the thought to do anything, he basically, on autopilot, found the soldiers and tore them to pieces.)
Remember how I mentioned the ambush would've happened anyway, and then the AI were introduced into the equation? Benrey and Bubby joining in with the ambush was what changed the code to have them cut off Gordon's arm.

Benrey!Yuu
I'm just here to mix-and-match different kinds of Yuus with different kinds of personalities to see what monstrosity I can make. That being said,,, Benrey!Yuu brainrot!
For those who don’t know, Benrey is a character in a roleplay called Half-Life VR but the AI is Sentient (aka HLVRAI) by wayneradiotv and his friends. You should definitely check it out on Youtube, it’s hilarious!
Also there are some spoilers here about the characters so I suggest you go watch it first.
Yuu’s dialogues is intentionally lowercase-d, by the way.
So… an eldritch creechur obsessed with Pl*ystation Plus, dissociated and lives in an absolutely different reality in their head, and completely delusional.
Even the most patient people go insane in Benrey!Yuu’s presence. No one is safe from Benrey!Yuu. They’ve practically made it their mission to make everyone question their own sanity.
And since Benrey!Yuu is the way they are, they most probably arrived late in the opening ceremony, looking completely confused and dazed.
Crowley: “Who are you?”
Yuu: “huh? wha? did you say something?”
Crowley: “You-”
Yuu: “do you have Pl*ystation Plus, uh, voucher?”
Crowley: “I don’t know what–”
Yuu: “i just– i’m waiting– i wanna- i wanna get another month but i want, like, a free trial.”
They’re completely chill and unbothered by anything.
Even when the blot monster in the Dwarfs’ Mine chased after them, they just stood there and stared at it with that infuriating smirk of theirs as the monster spontaneously burst out in flames.
Ace: “Holy– What was that?!”
Yuu: “that was, uh– that was a passport.”
Also when Riddle overblotted:
Yuu: *standing in the middle of the Rose Maze with overblot!Riddle making his way towards them in anger*
“Yuu! Get out of there! You’ll get hurt!”
Yuu: “it’s okay, i’m– i’m–  i’m not human.”
Yuu, when meeting Leona for the first time in the botanical garden:
Leona: “I was having such a lovely nap, and now I’m just pissed. Hope you’re ready to leave behind a tooth–”
Yuu: “do you have– you have credentials? can I see your– passport?”
Leona: “...What.”
Yuu, turning to Grim and whispering loudly: “he doesn’t have his passport.”
Grim, equally whispering just as loud: “What’s a passport?”
Yuu, @ the overblot bois after they calmed down:
“you– you a lil’– you’re a lil’ clumsy boy, aren’t you? lost your lil’ temper there, did ya?”
Can you imagining Benrey!Yuu’s and Malleus’ first meeting?
Benrey!Yuu probably straight up asks if Malleus has Pl*ystation Plus or something. That, or ask for his passport. Their greetings always consist of either of those two options.
Benrey!Yuu would probably be the type to unironically call Malleus ‘Horn-y’ as a nickname.
Malleus just rolls with it. He probably assumes that it’s some quirky human thing. Just imagine him telling how his day went to Lilia.
“And then they called me ‘Horn-y’, for I indeed have horns.”
“They what–”
Okay, now imagine Yuu meeting Jamil for the first time.
Hypnosis? Pffft, like that’ll work on an eldritch creature from the void. Jamil’s gonna have to try harder than–
Jamil: “We have Pl*ystation Plus in Scarabia.”
They did not, in fact, have Pl*ystation Plus in Scarabia but Yuu got scammed into going and staying anyway.
Yuu maybe calls Kalim ‘Tommy’.
Yuu @ Jamil: “Tommy… likes mean people. that’s why he talked to you.”
Jamil: “Who’s Tommy?”
Also, Yuu’s going to have a villain moment in the future along with Grim and their villain monologue is just going to be like:
“i didn’t have a big plan! i was s’posed to be nice but you forced me to be BAAAAD so i gonna be baaad. friend.”
“What are you even saying, Yuu?!”
“i dunno. hey, you have Pl*ystation Plus, one month?”
Also also, we can’t forget about the Black Mesa Sweet Voice.
Yuu uses these orbs/balls things to express their emotions. Just them blowing blue bubbles at their friends when their friends are sad. Not a lot of dark blue since that apparently means ‘i hate you’. Just enough to comfort them.
The braincell group probably has a color coding chart to see what the colored orb Yuu spews out means.
Imagine Yuu spewing out teal orbs after fighting an overblot and their friends look at the chart and see that it can either mean ‘surprise’ or ‘needs meal’.
Yuu, getting closer to an ink puddle: *audible lip smacking*
Ace, softly: “No.”
Like Yuu, like Grim, I guess. Picking up food from the ground like feral gremlins they are.
Okay but like, Yuu terrorizing Idia by showing up out of nowhere in his room and constantly asks him for Pl*ystation Plus and if they can add him on it. Idia doesn’t even know what Pl*ystation Plus is. He’s tried introducing them to other consoles in hopes that they’d leave him alone but it doesn’t work.
Idia can do nothing as Yuu routinely break into his room. Even reinforcing the security and changing locks everyday doesn’t stop them.
Well anyway, I know this post is about Benrey!Yuu but imagine if it was also the rest of the Science Team!
Anyway, Tommy!Yuu, Bubby!Yuu, Coomer!Yuu. All the possibilities!
Gordon!Yuu mayhaps doesn’t exist ‘cause that’s honestly just default Yuu.
Anyway, just imagine the braincell group running away from the blot monster in the mines and Coomer!Yuu just goes:
“Hello, Gordon! For three PlayCoins™, I can get us out of this dilemma!”
“Who the hell’s Gordon?!”
“Yuu, this isn’t the time to be introducing us to your shady products! Keep running!”
Coomer!Yuu just calls everyone ‘Gordon’ and gives expositions on random things as if they were a tutorial guide.
Tommy!Yuu may have a child-like personality but for some reason, they know things that should generally be a secret like the reasons for why the overblot boys overblot.
Also they have a dog but the dog’s 2D and Tommy!Yuu doesn’t understand when the others try to explain to them that their dog shouldn’t be 2D flat.
Bubby!Yuu has more than enough ability to bring the overblot boys and monsters out by themselves but chooses not to and instead runs around screaming as if their life was in peril.
Bubby!Yuu: “If you think I’m a pain in the ass, wait ‘til you meet my prototypes.”
Jack: “Your… prototypes?”
Bubby!Yuu: “Yes.”
They don’t explain any further and just leaves Jack with more questions than before.
All these Yuus are chaotic and thrive off of said chaos.

thinking about joshua and benrey’s friendship. benrey and joshua initially Hate each other because they both think they’re competition. competing for what? gordon’s time, love & affection — joshua sees benrey actively eating into his Dad Time and taking away valuable bed time story hours and playtime minutes and benrey thinks it’s annoying that gordon spends sooooooo much more time with his mini version instead of flirting with him and being gay !!!! they are constantly passing insults at each other. “ why did my dad bring home a stray ugly alien bitch !!!! “ “ i dunno but i’m doing your dad lmfao “
eventually as time passes and gordon stops them from being shitty to each other by proving yes, there is enough gordon for both of them and that he loves them both they stop genuinely despising one another and it just becomes like an inside joke to each other. as joshua grows up he starts treating benrey more like a friend / family member instead of his arch nemesis. he asks him for advice on things like he would his dad, and instead of being straight up malicious / antagonist benry does his best! sure he’s still annoying like if joshua asks if his outfit looks okay he Will reply “ you look just as bitty shitty as you did yesterday bro “ but it’s not because he’s trying to be downright mean it’s because they’re joking !!
they start to conspire with each other. on grocery trips joshua slips in a few jelly beans and hopes gordon doesn’t notice the extra additions — and when he does, benry is right behind him with 5 more bags of beans. and even when those get caught by gordon’s hawk eyes benrey’s sleeves are definitely stuffed with the goods and he taught joshua how to effectively fit as many jelly bean bags in his pockets as possible too. they come up with the most annoying and greatest tricks on how to annoy the FUCK out of gordon when they’re all playing multiplayer games like mario kart or animal crossing or smash brothers or anything like that. soon benry even gets bed time permissions. it’s not just locked to gordon, benrey unlocked the gay dad dlc and is allowed in the room now! he learns how to tuck joshua in, but usually doesn’t and takes to throwing the blanket over his entirety instead because it’s funnier, and when fun & games are over as he prepares to leave joshua’s room joshua will call out to him and ask him to stay and asks so politely if benry can please maybe sing the funny songs at him with the night light bubbles? and it’s so easy for benry to say no, for him to ignore joshua and go cuddle up with gordon but he stays and obliges. pink, blue, yellow, orange all fills the room until joshua’s eyes just can’t stay open any longer and only THEN will benrey go to his shared room. sometimes they fall asleep on the couch while playing games because joshua woke up having a nightmare that the slasher from one of benrey’s horror movies came and ate his horses and benry was already up rummaging for midnight snacks, so why not? gordon has pictures of this on his phone and thinks it’s the cutest shit in the world, but benrey isn’t safe from being lectured on how he can’t just show joshie horror media and expect him to be fine!
benrey isn’t good at being a dad, not by a long shot. he doesn’t have to be, though, because joshua doesn’t expect that of him — and neither does gordon to an extent. benrey is just Benrey and joshua is just Joshua. they’re extremely close and it’s just !!! really cute. he fits into their life like a mismatched puzzle piece that didn’t come with the set but filled the same empty space all the same.

OKAY, WE FINALLY HAVE A PIRATE EPISODE! HERE YOU LITTLE MONSTERS GO!!! <3
Mind is written by @shineyfish
WARNINGS: violence(obviously), drug mentions, smoking, and unintentional self-harm.
They traveled through the doorway, leading them down to the rest of the railway system, which was water-logged. Aside from the few bursts of unconducted energy, the rest of the track didn't seem to be electrified. Gordon mentioned Benrey being a 'powerful asset' to the team, something that Mind was vocally against, but... He did have to admit that the thing was powerful.
They raced through the labyrinth of abandoned trackways - Literally, and Tommy won - before making their way up a ladder and to another hallway, higher up and filled to the brim with soldiers.
To which, hilariously, Mind's reaction was to start talking like a pirate.
"IF IT'S A FAIR FIGHT YER LOOKIN' FOR, THEN YE'VE COME TO THE WRONG MAN!"
Gordon, bewildered out of his skull, started cackling.
”YEAH!?” He screamed. “GET THE- GET THE- FUCK YEAH CAPTAIN MIND GET THEM! THEY DON'T HAVE ANY SKILLS GET THEIR ASSES!”
The encouragement only seemed to make Mind laugh with him, nailing the unlucky soldiers in the hallway.
"THE BATTLE BE A' RAGIN, TIS THE PERFECT TIME TA PLUNDER!"
He dipped into one of the side rooms, opening the boxes on the shelves in search of ammo, or anything valuable. He wasn't picky.
"It appears yer treasure be naught but a ruse, these boxes be empty!"
Gordon wheezed.
“BULLSHIT. WHERE'S OUR TREASURE.” He cackled. “CAPTAIN MIND, WHAT DO WE DO!?!”
“Loot the bodies,” Benrey said, making Gordon choke laughing.
“GET THEIR GUNS!”
"PLUNDER THE LOT A' THEM! SEIZE THE ARTILL'RY!"
Mind cackled, spinning his gun in his hand before shooting a bootboy. That was just showing off.
"YE CALL YERSELVES MARINES, BUT MARINERS I DINNAE SEE NONE! YER A BUNCH A' COWARDS AN' DEADWEIGHT!"
Gordon wheezed again.
“MAKE THEM FUCKIN- what is it- MAKE THEM WALK THE PLANK!!!” He laughed, following behind him. “Dude you need like, a cool eyepatch or something.”
"AYE, A' DO!"
Mind smiled back at Gordon, looking Genuinely happy.
"Although, a' dinnae want a hook fer a hand. That can be yer thing!"
The power absolutely going to his head, he pointed ahead with his gun.
"COMPANY, LETS SHOW THESE LANDLUBBERS TA FEAR TH' WAVES!"
“HOW AM I GONNA SHOOT WITH A HOOK HAND- wait actually hold on I got it-“
He took out his crowbar, grinning as he held it tight, and raced into battle alongside Mind.
“YAAAAARG!”
"YAAHAHAHAHAAAARRGG!"
Making good on his word, Mind looted almost every soldier's body that they came across, taking no prisoners.
"Tis but a shame, we be without our mechanical longboat! Would have made this voyage easier. Alas, tis no issue!"
"OUR WH- oh a train? YEAH. OUR UH. SHIP- I'm not good at this- let's- OH SHIT- YARG!" Gordon straight up brained a soldier he found in a room, and walked inside, spotting a security officer. "OH, THERE'S A GUY IN HERE!"
Mind snorted at Gordon not understanding the pirate talk, punching him in the shoulder about it before turning to the guard.
"AHOY THERE SQUIRE, WHAT SAY YE TA JOINING OUR CREW? I'LL GIVE YE A CUT A' ANY LOOT WE TAKE!"
The guard didn't react to the pirate voice, staring ahead at the two.
"Okay, why not.”
“Y-”
“Didn't want to die alone anyway."
Mind threw his hands in the air.
"YAAAAR! THAT BE THE SPIRIT! LET US CHARGE FORTH AND PAINT THE WALLS RED WITH BLOOD!"
Gordon started laughing so hard that he went into a coughing fit.
"LH- HHHVKKHCKLLETSSSGOOO! LETSSSGO!!!!!" He cried, stumbling to follow Mind out.
"C-Captain Mind!! There's- there are more soldiers on the port bow!" Tommy shouted, pointing at more soldiers approaching.
Captain Mind yelled as he rushed the soldiers, firing at them as he did. When he got close enough he ran out of bullets, and in a slight panic used the butt of the gun to knock one of them out.
He didn't expect everyone to go along with the pirate bit if he was being honest! He had to admit though he was a fan of the captain role. He should be the leader of these guys.
Gordon shot the knocked-out soldier right between the eyes. Meanwhile, the guard didn't take cover as he shot at soldiers in the distance.
As the bullets flew past, Mind fired back, yelling at the guard.
"GET DOWN, LAD, TAKE COVER!"
The guard did not get down or take cover and rag-dolled on the floor shortly after, the bullet hitting them in the shoulder.
Mind watched it happen with wide eyes.
"WELL WHAT USE ARE YE TAE US NOW?"
Gordon broke into cackling. It was a little stressed, but to be fair- that was extremely funny.
”WHY DID HE DO THAT!? WHY DID- ok lets- let's keep going- we shoul- actually, any idea, Captain??”
Mind paused for a second, smiling as he assesed the area, before pointing towards one of the rooms with his gun.
"Avast, an unchecked room. Could harbour mariners, brace yerself lad!"
His throat was starting to kill him a bit. He usually didn't commit to the pirate thing for this long, but he was having a great time and nobody could stop him.
"Gotcha- ready- or uh- aye-aye? Is that- READY!" Gordon cocked his gun and gave Mind a dumb smile.
"Lets unload hot piratey death!" Bubby cheered.
His crew was full of idiots. Laughing, Mind charged on ahead.
"THEM WHO DIE BE THE LUCKY ONES, AND THAR BE PLENTY O' LUCK GOIN ROUND TODAY!"
Inside the room was three soldiers, two of which were mowed down immediately, and the last one sat in one of the chairs, seemingly unaffected by the gunfire.
"ARISE, YE LANDLUBBING SCURR, AN' FACE YER DEATH LIKE A MAN!"
Mind had his gun raised to him, but the soldier did not rise, face scrunching up at the group.
"No, I don't feel like it."
"GET UP-! GET UP, ASSHOLE!" Gordon screamed at him, running and kicking the chair over.
Miraculously, the soldier managed to stay in the chair, unfazed. Mind shot nearby the soldier's head, an incredulous laugh escaping him. Wwwhatthefuck.
"STOPPP."
Gordon started laughing so hard he turned around and left the room, before walking back in.
"Get up!" He barked again, taking out his SMG. "GET UP, ASSHOLE!"
"Leave me aloooone!"
Mind was starting to lose it, what was with this guy??
"IGNORANCE CANNAE SAVE YE NOW, MATEY, DO AS HE SAYS!"
Confusion may have been apparent, but the pirate voice was unwavering.
A stray shot to the chair broke it completely, and the soldier was forced to stand, taking out his gun, but still acting as if the threat was just a minor inconvenience.
"You wanna stop- you wanna stop please?"
"WHAT- what are our chairs made out of!?" Gordon choked. "GUN ON THE GROUND, BUDDY. SET IT DOWN, NOW. I'LL BLOW YOUR FUCKING SKULL OUT, DON'T TEST ME-"
"God, you're so annoying."
Eyes shifting to the door for a split second, the soldier dashed out, pushing past Mind and Gordon as he did so.
"HEY, WHERE D'YE THINK YER GOIN?"
Without considering the possibility of a trap, which was strange for him, Mind ran after him.
"Come the FUCK on are you kidding me!" Gordon shouted at no one in particular, moreso the situation as he raced after them both- shooting rapidly.
Once the soldier darted out of sight, Gordon sighed, holding a hand up.
"STOP! Stop- we lost him." He looked to another dead soldier on the ground, noticing a lit cigar in his mouth.
Mind leaned over the railing, trying to spot where the guy went.
"Alas, he's slipperier than a fish out o' water."
He coughed, cringing slightly.
Turning to face the rest of the team, he gave them a smile.
"No a venture that we cannae take on! We'll find th' landlubbin' scurr if 's the last thing we do."
Gordon laughed a bit.
“Is the voice starting to hurt??”
"No."
Yes, but he wasn't going to be defeated that easily.
"Just a tad scratchy on the ol' throat."
“Alright,” Gordon rolled his eyes a little, chuckling, before bending over and picking up the cigar from the dead body. “Wait, hold on,”
He contemplated it for a moment, standing up, before taking a drag from it.
“Thats disgusting.” Bubby said.
Mind looked at him for a second.
Gross. You don't know where that's been. Sir.
It felt weird to see the man smoke, he just... Didn't seem like the type. Sure, Mind himself didn't smoke often, but he's been around enough smokers.
"... D'ye usually smoke? Ye didnae have th face fer it."
Gordon took in a really, really long drag.
“Y’gotta look good when you’re killing-“ He choked, before breaking into a massive coughing fit.
Mind snorted. Idiot.
"Ah, I ken now. Yer a professional. Best smoker in th' world."
“Smoking is a terrible habit!” Bubby snapped. Gordon paused, blinking, and dropped the cigar on the ground, stomping at it and pointing at Dr. Coomer with extreme fury.
”THIS ONE DRANK PISS!”
"That disnae give ye cancer."
Not helping.
“Not helping.” Gordon sighed. “Lets keep going. C’mon, captain.”
With another cough, Mind walked ahead of the group.
"Fuck-, Thar be another passage way, anchors away crew!"
The cough made Gordon cackle.
“Bro! Stop doing it if it hurts! If you lose your voice I’m making fun of you.” He wheezed, following.
Mind went to argue, keeping to the wall as shots fired at them, before coughing violently, behind cover.
"hhghbbbb. Thaaat's enough of that. I have about 20 more years of whiskey drinking before my voice sounds like that naturally."
He covered his mouth for a second, catching his breath.
"Do we still have problems?"
He looked out from the cover and gunfire shot past him immediately.
"We still have problems."
Gordon laughed, finding immense joy in Minds antics.
“Uh, well, we could send Benrey out, maybe- I haven’t seen him, though.”
Mind didn't look at him, but he did pause.
"... Knowing our luck, he'd either join them or just stand there like an idiot."
He made a small noise of consideration.
"This sounds like a job for Ambassador Pineapple!" He took out a grenade, "You'll be representing us on the floor, now go out there and work your magic!"
After throwing it at the problem, there was a couple seconds more of gunfire, an explosion, then silence. The entire time, Mind was twirling the pin in his hand.
"... And it sounds like we've come to a resolution!"
He ducked out of the cover.
"Testing, one two, testing... Well, I'm glad everything worked out."
“Ambassador Pineapple??” Gordon wheezed, following him out from under cover.
“G’oh, I miss him every day!” Dr. Coomer nodded. Bubby followed as well.
“I agree with everything he said.”
“I-It’s always good to have peaceful conver- conversations!” Tommy added, pointing his gun thoughtlessly.
Mind nodded.
"Ambassador Pineapple."
He did not explain further, exploring over the room.
"Everyone that matters is here and accounted for, so let's move on. This room wasn't heavily guarded for no reason, I refuse to..."
Ahead on the wall was a spray painted sign that read "Surrender Freemen". Normally, Mind would just pass it off as the education of the military, but...
Freemen.
Free men.
They knew.
He swallowed, staring at it.
Gordon was walking by it, completely unaware, until he noticed Mind staring.
“Whatcha lookin’ at, bud?” He asked brightly, walking over, before pausing as his eyes scanned the words over. “…ah.”
“…What the fuck? You cant graffiti, that’s against the law,” Bubby, who was graffiting an hour earlier, said. “They even spelled it wrong! Blasted military education.”
“Haha, yeah.” Gordon chuckled a little, though his expression wore the feeling of swallowing fire and being doused in ice. “Yeah they’re…stupid.”
Mind blinked a couple times, analysing Gordon's demeanor change.
... The fuck is that about?
He knew. He had to know, there was "no way he doesn't, I mean," the thing said free men. He needed to know that "means both of us."
He wrung out his hands, glancing between the sign and Gordon.
"No... No, he doesn't." They'd been through this, if Gordon knew, then he was "damn good at hiding it. Nobody can hide shit that well" without dropping too many clues.
I can trust him. "I have to."
He picked at his face, staring back at the sign.
His thoughts felt... Overlapping, repeating over themselves and crashing against his skull like waves. A slurry of He Knows, They Know, They All Know, it was difficult to hear much else.
He took a shaky breath.
"The morphine must be wearing off."
"...I don't think you should get another dose until tomorrow, man." Gordon muttered. "Are...you okay? It...is there something I don't...know? About this?"
He took a second, looking at the grafitti again, and then back to Mind, tilting his head, eyes full of the same emotion as before, and now worry.
"...You're talking to yourself again."
"I... Am I?"
Fuck.
He picked at the scars on his face, glancing away.
"No, it's... It's fine, man."
He couldn't look at Gordon.
He didn’t know. He didn’t know. He didn’t know. It was just "my brain being a dick to me," which was why he needed the fucking morphine.
God he hated this. He needed to "get this talking to myself shit under control, fast."
Taking out his gun, counted over the ammo, trying to focus on anything else.
"Let's... Go, let's go."
"Alright." Gordon huffed, following him. "...N'don't pick at your face, man. Our gloves are probably filthy."

Here (throws Y2kvr headcanons at you [mainly Benrey cause . Little guy])
- Benrey likes to hide places, you can't find him? Ok but have you tried looking in the fruit bowl.
- Bubby just. Lights pieces of grass on fire. Just for funsies (he has probably started a fire that required the fire department to put it out at least twice)
- Forzen has 100% had random stupid songs (like Nyan cat or something) on loop for a maximum of 10 or so hours. (I also like to think he can connect to speakers so he also works as a very annoying alarm clock)
- while some may think Benrey would be the scariest to encounter I personally feel like Coomer would be the scariest. No I will not elaborate /lhj
- Benrey does bite, he has 100% bitten Spork and Gordon before, hell some of the others probably have dents in their arms or legs from him just being silly
- Speaking of Gordon ! He probably tried to do jazzercise again at some point but hurt himself so he can't and won't (is that how you spell that ?? Idk)
- While Benrey tends to hide on purpose, he sometimes probably hides on accident, like he's accidentally hidden himself behind a pillow and scared one of the others
- Benrey's favorite song would probably be 'No One Lives Forever' by Oingo Boingo because Spork showed it to him (it is also my favorite song but we are ignoring that /lhj)
- Darnold still likes flowers, they probably have a small window garden so he can look at them
---------------
It's like 4 am and I need sleep but I also needed to get these Out Of My Brain and will probably be back with more at some point

[Start ID: 7 pages of HLVRAI narrative doodles about Benrey wearing skirts based on [this post here].
Benrey looks at his reflection in the mirror and the long skirt he's just put on. It's a purple vintage swing skirt from the 1950s, an unused item Dr Coomer had tucked away up until just recently. Dr Coomer stands behind Benrey, sporting a hawaiian shirt, with his hands proudly on his hips: "I think you look very handsome, Beppy! Would you say the same?" Either sides of the skirt are bunched up in Benrey's hands where he's lifting it up and away from brushing against his legs. His mouth is a tight, thin line. "it's, uhh…yeah. like it. looks. can i take it off now, please?" Benrey grits out. Tommy winces at the stream of flimsy red sweet voice bubbles slipping out from the corner of Benrey's mouth: "Uh-oh. Red like, like a brick means that's a bad, uh, ick."
Tommy leaves the shirt he's just finished folding and picks up a pair of comfy black pajama pants with a green grid pattern on it from off the pile of unfolded clothes next to him on the couch. "Here! This'll help!" he says, before launching the pants right at Benrey's face. Dr Coomer chuckles at him.
Sometime later, Gordon knocks on their open front door. He asks: "Hey, any of yall seen Capt- Joshie's stuffed horse? I think he might've left it here the last time we-" He's interrupted by an abrupt "hey" from Benrey. Benrey's dressed in his hoodie, playstation socks, and most importantly, the pajama pants and skirt from earlier. He leans forward, a hand on his hip while the other twirls a chullo string around his finger playfully. Benrey smiles smugly at Gordon, showing of his new skirt: "bet you're, uh, jealous you can't pull this off, huh?"
Tommy pipes up: "Oh! I was just about to go give- to return this to you. Hello, Mr Freeman!" Benrey looks displeased at Tommy's sudden entrance as the taller man pops into view behind him, a stuffed horse held in his hand. Gordon's smile is a grateful one as he passes Benrey to retrieve the toy: "Aw fuck, thanks man." "yo what the hell man? you ruined my moment…" Benrey pouts, arms crossed and side-eyeing Tommy. Dismissively, Gordon tells Benrey: "Dude, I've been rocking those since, like, preschool."
Benrey just grumbles and blows a rasberry, back stubbornly turned on the two behind him: "you're no fun." Gordon takes Joshua's stuffed horse from Tommy's hand. Not looking at Benrey, he mumbles with a shrug: "I mean…I didn't say it was bad or anything. Suits you, I guess." Benrey gives him an unsure look as Gordon passes him again on his way out: "/gen?" "Uh, yeah, /gen-" Gordon says distractedly, rushing out the door. "L-look, I gotta run. If Josh finds out Cap'n's gone, he's gonna freak. Thanks again, Tommy!" (Cap'n is the name of the stuffed horse) When he's gone, Tommy taps Benrey on the shoulder.
Tommy whispers sideways to Benrey: "Don't worry, Benrey. I think he liked it." "wuh?" Benrey says, looking up at him. Tommy does a series of ASL hand signs indicating that Gordon had been blushing. Benrey's eyes widen at him, and a couple of shy peach sweet voice orbs bubble from his mouth.
In the elevator, Gordon has his back pressed up against the wall, the horse plush clutched to his chest. "God, hope I didn't catch a cold or something," he thinks, mistaking the awkward heat in his face for an oncoming fever. He is, as Tommy had communicated, blushing.
End ID.]
Thanks to the op of the post this was based off for the inspo heheh.
Also, I don't know if Tommy's signing is accurate😬 (I never formally learned sign language so I could only look for references online).
