ARES DOESN'T DESERVE THE HATE HE GETS. 10 REASONS WHY:

Apart from being the god of war, he was also the god of generalship, manliness and civil order, which means that he was the god responsible for the correct function of every ancient city in order of laws and politics.

As the god of manliness, he was considered to be the patron of a fine man that every man looked up to. He was a fighter, not only as a merit from being the god of war, but he always fought for his beliefs, just like at the Trojan War when he complained to Zeus about Athena's unfair action. Also, he was the best father to his children and always supported them and their mothers, just like Cycnus fighting with Heracles, or when Aeropos' mother died during childbirth and he made it possible for the baby to drink milk from his dead mother's body.

He was the only greek god that never raped a woman. All his sexual encounters were consensual and he always seemed to respect his lovers, because he kept his private life low key and none of them suffered or were subjected to tortures, unlike Zeus' or Poseidon's lovers did.

He was the god of dance. Legend has it that before he was taught how to fight, Priapos, his tutor, refused to teach him unless young Ares knew how to dance. Afterall, war is considered to be the ultimate dance a man could perform in ancient times. Also, he appeared to dance for his daughter's Armonia wedding with joy, leaving behind the animosity for her husband Cadmus. Finally, in the feasts of the Gods, it was said that Apollo played the lyre, while the Harites, Artemis, Hermes and Ares danced with great joy.

He was a forgiving god. Despite his enraged and bloodthirsty behavior, Ares knew how to forgive someone and appreciated what they were doing to gain his trust. After Cadmus slaughtered the Dragon, he was put 8 years under servitude to indulge Ares. Finally, Ares not only forgave Cadmus for his crime, but he also blessed his wedding with his own daughter Armonia. Cadmus, in order to gratify the god, built the city of Thebes and made Ares its patron god.

He wasn't a coward. Many greek myths refer to Ares' lack of courage to face danger. This is far from true. At the Trojan War, when he found out about Ascalaphus' death, he disobeyed Zeus' order with the risk of his immortal life in order to go to the battle amd avenge his son's death. He was later stopped by Zeus' thunderbolts. Also, when the Aloadai were about to take Olympus, he was the first god to interfere in battle in order to save Olympus. Afterall, one of his epithets was "Olympus' Protector".

He was sentimental. At the Trojan War he was seen greaving for his children's loss and always wanted to inervene for their safety. Also, he understood the rejection of his parents towards him and he was a lonely god that lacked love. But he found the love he was seeking to Aphrodite, and did not only lust her, but he loved her deeply. Together they had 8 children, and both of them were jealous about each other's affairs, because of Adonis and Eos. They also had an open relationship, because he never refrained Aphrodite from her nature, which was love and sex. Afterall love is not meant to be given to only one person.

He was the protector of women. When Hallirothios attempted to rape his daughter Alcippe, he flashed in the scene and brutally killed the rapist. From that moment on, a temple in Athens was built for Ares "Gynaikothoinas", which means the one feasted/worshipped by women.

He knew the feeling of loss. A war has two sides, the winners and the defeated. A war isn't always to be won, and everyone must learn what it is to lose. He lost many wars, but he also won many. That's why he is among the Olympians.

He was a god of justice. That is because he was referred to be "Themis' Ally", which means that he was a helper to the goddess of justice. One of his least famous daughters, Adrestia, was the goddess of balance, justice and retaliation. Also, "Areios Pagos" or aka "The hill of Ares" was named after him because he was the first man ever to be tried for substatial homicide, for slaughtering Alcippe' rapist.

The Apollo cabin has hundreds of CDs, most of which they lose. Will keeps a few in the infirmary; Michael and Lee both burned CDs with their music and he plays those often when he's cleaning or alone. Both of those CDs had Stayin' Alive by Bees Gees since both of them liked it. Will forgot this little fact.

He'd been alone cleaning the infirmary after the titan war, playing music as usual when a certain song comes on. At first, he doesn't pay it any mind, then realizes what it is. Suddenly he's back in the elevator, covered in blood with a few bodies wrapped in different shrouds.

He finds out quickly enough that he's not the only person who can't listen to the song anymore.

bonus leo tries to play it in bunker nine with nyssa and jake once and jake just turns it off and whenever leo tries to play it again nyssa just stares at him Leo: ???? Nyssa: No.

Connor doesn't like Luke. Hates him, in fact. He's a monster, a traitor and a murderer. There's nothing else to it. He's not sad Lukes dead, why would he be? That's not his brother anymore. He stopped being his older brother the minute he started listening to Kronos. Luke deserves to be dead, and he's not sad. End of story.

He finds a photo of him and Luke. It was from before Connor had been claimed - Travis had been, he was still a little jealous of that one(did hermes just like travis more??). It was a bad photo, shaky since Luke had almost fallen while taking it. But the joy in the two boys' faces was evident. It was before Luke's quest, his face lacked the telltale scar Connor grew to hate. This photo was still his brother. His hero.

If Travis found him in the cabin, clutching the photo and sobbing, he didn't question it. Just provided the comfort his little brother required.

Jake can't stand being in the forges alone. A place he used to consider a safe place, it was like a second home. He loved the place, the heat was harsh, sure, but he'd found comfort in it. He couldn't be there alone anymore.

Being alone meant he had time to think about the space around him, remember. He couldn't stand hearing his late brother's voice, the memories of all that he was taught. Everything he knew, everything he taught his siblings, was all Beckendorf. Jake wasn't him, he never would be, he never wanted to be. He was nothing but a fraud. He couldn't handle the cabin like Beckendorf did, he wasn't a leader.

Nyssa never questioned it when he would ask her to accompany him to the forges late at night when they should definitely be asleep. She hated being alone there too.

Drew hated Silena, it was a known fact. Everything the late Aphrodite girl did, Drew hated. Of course, none of the new campers knew of her sudden shift in attitude, but then again, none of the older campers questioned it.

Drew loved Silena, she was her older sister, her best friend. She wanted to be exactly like her, her every move was fascinating. Silena was a goddess in the eyes of her younger sister. That image was forever marred.

How could someone so loving, so nurturing, do something like this? Drew didn't want to believe it. Silena had gone to get the Ares campers, she had been helping them, how could she be the spy? It wasn't possible.

She resented the fact. It shouldn't have been possible. Silena was too kind, to caring to betray them like this. Was it all a lie? Did she ever truly care about them? Her entire world felt upside down, nothing was right. If Silena was capable of something like this, was everyone around her? Who could she trust? She couldn't trust anyone.

Drew hated Silena. She hated the fact that her sister left her alone, she hated the fact that she could never get a proper answer. She hated that she didn't know why she would do this. She hated that she didn't know how she felt. She hated that she still loved her sister, hated that she missed her and hated that she felt empty without her.

Clarisse hates being alone. Being alone means remembering her voice, remembering her own mistakes. If she'd backed down and forked over the chariot, would he still be dead? Would she still be dead? Would they have had less casualties if she'd just swallowed her pride and sucked it up? She gave it to Apollo in the end, so what was the point? Why had it been Silena? Why couldn't it have been herself? She'd lost her own siblings, she hated that, watching her own sibling get eaten?

Ares doesn't show weakness, so she couldn't either. She was the Drakon slayer, but everyone around her was angry with her. Pulling out of the battle was a stupid decision, but all sense seemed to go out the window when it came to arguing with Michael. He'd just gotten much more irritable since the Labyrinth. She hated it.

She hated being alone.

Malcom didn't know how she did it. Annabeth carried their cabin with such strength and confidence. He wanted so badly to be upset with her, but he knew she couldn't lead their cabin. He hated that he wanted her to feel the guilt he felt watching their siblings die. But he had to, he was he second in command, it was his job to lead the cabin when she couldn't. But he wanted so badly, for her to feel how he felt. And it was wrong. She'd suffered so much for them, so why did he want to be upset with her?

He wanted to be upset with her but he didn't want to let her go. So when either of them woke up, panicking and crying from a nightmare, the other was right there. They may understand the others guilt, they may not. It didn't matter.

ignore my silly little drew rant. She deserved better writing, she was only there to make Piper look better(No hate to Piper I love her) and so many people forget her older sister literally got her face melted off. Not to mention the only cabin we know was there was Ares, pretty sure the other cabins were covering tunnels and bridges again. I might be wrong. Either way ✨️

I don't know if Malcom or Clarisse's made much sense. I feel like Malcom would have a lot of guilt in not being able to save his siblings in Manhattan since he's the one that lead them. He's aware Annabeth has her own guilt but he's young yk? He was like 13(inmyheadcannonsatleast) and leading his siblings to their deaths. Annabeth isn't much older but she has more experience leading their cabin. But in the end shes his older sister and he loves her. Clarisse has her own guilt about Silena and the chariot feud. Like if she'd given the chariot to Michael would he still be dead, would Silena be dead? If her cabin fought would the amount of death be lessened? Dunno

♡ Master manipulator. Toy Bonnie uses it against you constantly and he knows how to use it well. All of a sudden, he tells you how much he hates that co-worker you’ve been talking to. Did you not notice the way they forced their job on you despite them being able to do it? It doesn't matter if they need to attend to someone else. They don’t consider your feelings like he does. They're going to take advantage of you if you keep letting your guard down like this.

Why is Zeus(LO) held to this stupid standard of 'he isn't that bad' he can do no wrong bullshit while Hera, Demeter and Aphrodite are condemned for..idk being a little fucking mean and in Demeters case..BEING A GENIUNELY GOOD MOTHER???

Let's go down the line shall we? So we can remember that Zeus fucking sucks and you people can get it together.

Zeus did a lot of good things, he helped his siblings escape Kronos, fought in the world etc.

But!!!! He constantly cheats on his wife, constantly lowballs her and talks down to her (season 1) , he doesn't give a shit about Ares (his legitimate son) but favors his bastard (Apollo) so much so that he IGNORED Heras warning about him! He ignored it.

He abuses his power constantly and continues to go out of his way with sleeping with women and barely tries to hide it (So much so that Thetis got it in her damn head to disrespect the literal Queen of the God's cuz Zeus let her.)

Oh Hera slept with Hades?? ONCE, compared to Zeus sleeping with..Metis (her mother) Thetis, Semele and DEMETER (Her sister) and Leto (Her best fucking friend.) And the nymphs in Demeters realm that came to her. Who geniunely cares?? Was it wrong, yes, would it ever actually happen? NO, actual Hera wouldn't do that dumb shit.

But she should be allowed one moment of respite when her husband continues to do the same damn thing!!

Yall think Zeus isn't the same?? Yall forgot the nymphs he screws off constantly? Leaving them in Demeters care cuz he doesn't care about them, how he just tossed Thetis aside after a while (..Lowkey deserved, she was a terrible friend and annoying as shit.)

But no Zeus has a reason for this right?? Nit like..Hera justifiably isn't a fan of some nymphs cuz most constantly disrespect her by SLEEPING WITH HER HUSBAND and then blatantly disrespecting her in general like she isn't the literal queen.

As someone who loves Zeus and finds him to be interesting, ACKNOWLEDGE THAT HES A PIECE OF SHIT!! (that's just not all he is, he has nuance) like if you're gonna hate Hera for some shit, why praise Zeus for the bare minimum??

Zeus LOVES Hera but he still treats her like shit, LO has fucked up people's brains cuz too many people are just fine with Zeus being a whole serial cheater cuz Hera slept with Hades once. Shameful.

The Roasting of the Deadbeat

I know I've posted this before, but I felt like this should be repeated since its... Father's Day. Or maybe its already past Father's Day if you're reading this post on some other part of the world. My least favorite holiday each year, second only to Columbus Day (I formally recognize Native American Day, TYVM). But I feel like I must say this, otherwise we forget that these people deserve this.

SCREW YOU HEPHAESTUS. Yes, I'm focusing on him, not Zeus.

Leo has every right to hate this bastard and if he could, spit on his throne. This hermit of a god abandoned Leo for nearly sixteen years, apparently too obsessed in either making stuff or screwing other people to even care about his son. Hephaestus isn't there to comfort Leo when his mother died, much less intervene in the actual matter when he, as god of the forge and flame, had every capability to do so.

The god doesn't even have the willingness to confess that he badly messed up with Leo, favoring his other children who get to Camp Half-Blood — his many, many children that ranged from either 18 (Charles freaking Beckendorf) to young Harley who was 8 years old. They get there young, they get there to stay for several years or months, and they get the training and knowledge to understand the world they truly live in.

Leo is extremely high up in that age range, at 16 years old when most demigods are brought to camp by age 12. Leo is apparently blessed with extremely rare fire powers not seen for several centuries, yet its a kid like Harley who is young to the point his demigod powers shouldn't even have manifested that gets the special treatment. When Medea looked into the future, she saw Leo as such a big threat to the Primordial Mother that Gaea herself made a personal visit at an attempt to psychologically break Leo when he was eight years old. Eight years old, the same age Harley is during The Lost Hero, yet Hephaestus does nothing as Leo's life falls apart around him.

HERA has a stronger relationship with Leo because she was actually there to help raise the kid. When the mother that tossed you off of Mount Olympus, the goddess that cursed each and every child of Zeus that was ever born (as far as we know of) is treating your child in a better way than you are, there is something wrong with you, you emotionally stunted goblin of a god.

ZEUS cared more about his children in his own warped way despite being an abusive bastard `and practically rival to Hephaestus in being a deadbeat. When Thalia was about to be killed by monsters Hades unleashed upon her, because, you know, Zeus broke a pact on the River Styx by sticking his dick in Beryl Grace (twice!), he at least had the decency to turn her into a tree so that she didn't die. It was severely implied in The Demigod Diaries that Zeus led her to find Luke and Annabeth. In Percy Jackson's Greek Gods its shown that he at least had an overprotective side to Athena and spoiled Artemis and satisfied several of her demands. Now I'm not excusing Zeus' own abuse towards his other children like Apollo and Ares. Zeus gave crumbs, you didn't even have the decency to give Leo anything at all.

HERMES, who screwed the pooch with Luke twice over, tried to do his best with him or by him. When Luke searched for a quest to prove his worth to the gods, Hermes offered it only unfortunately for the quest to end in failure. He left Luke in the care of his mentally unstable mother. Yet Hermes recognized the fact that he severely fucked up and tried to make amends, even apparently forgiving Luke despite the fact that he came inches to toppling Olympus. Hermes was willing to try to make amends and honored his son's wishes by helping Percy find the rest of his demigod children that were unclaimed. Hermes accepted that he had a hand for Luke's hatred towards Olympus and the he wronged Luke, Hephaestus has so far done zilch.

HADES did his best to protect Nico and Bianca when Zeus tried to kill them all, hiding them in the Lotus Hotel and Casino. When Marie Levesque was going to bring Hazel to Alaska, he tried to intervene and stop them from doing so because he knows Gaea was manipulating her and backed off at her wishes. When Nico is going through severe emotional turmoil during Blood of Olympus, he goes out of his way despite the Greco-Roman schizophrenia to help guide and comfort his son.

Hephaestus didn't even get Leo to Camp Half-Blood directly. Coach Hedge found Leo completely by accident. If it weren't for Hera literally rigging things so that Jason, Piper, and Leo were picked up at the Grand Canyon Skywalk, Leo would never have known that his life was screwed over by higher powers than him. His first direct interaction with Leo isn't even to give a sincere apology about the fact that he's been the shittiest deadbeat in millennia, its about to info-dump about the Giants. When Leo calls him out about this, Hephaestus doesn't even apologize for that and sweeps it under the rug and never speaks with Leo again.

So screw you Hephaestus. Decent fathers should be worth honoring, respecting at the very least. He deserves nothing, and should get nothing. His mother, who threw him off of Olympus, has a better relationship with his own son than he does. The rest of his fellow Olympians, even his shitbag of an adoptive father, have done better than him. He can do better, and he should be doing better. Hephaestus, the victim of abusive, neglectful parenting and parental favoritism should know the pitfalls of this and how to avoid them. Yet you're the divine equivalent of starting the cycle all over again, and it shows.

Let me finish on this note for you:

He is a god who is dedicated to forging inventions and fixing that which is broken. Yet for everything he has learned, he does not have the capability of fixing the bonds that he broke by his own hand.

Crafting the most controversial ranking of the olympians (including Hestia and Hades)

APOLLO: He's just fucking AWESOME???!!! What can I say? He's such a easy to like god when you don't let the stupid retellings poison you. He's the god of writing and music (both topics that I love) and just SO much more. I can't even grasp how much the greeks fucking loved this guy and so do I. In a more fanon-y way, in my head he's the best possible protagonist out of all the olympians for a story. There's so much nuance with him, and I just love psychoanalyzing him. I also think his relationships with other gods and every mortals is so INVESTING and intense if you think about it in the right way. Also I love blondes. Blondes are hot.

ARES: The more people hate him, the more I defend him. He gets so much undeserved bullshit, he should've been the Hades of our modern generation, he deserves it way more imo. He's a great father, a great lover, and he dances! DANCES! He's probably the god with the most misinformation besides maybe Hades. Ares kind of gives me the underdog affect? Yes he's this big huge god, but he loses FAR too much to be considered the "bully" like the myths advertise. And I get that it's supposed to be a message "brain over brawn" but quite frankly I could care less. Ares is treated bad by his parents, he just deserves so much more I love this guy. I love paralleling him with other gods too like Athena or Apollo or Zeus. He's just so fun to write.

APHRODITE: I feel the exact same way for her as I feel for Ares. I used to hate her SO MUCH, until I realized how misled I was. APHRODITE IS FUN. The only thing is that I'd defend her wrongs because I don't give a shit. "Aphrodite was petty" IDC!!!! I hate how authors (Rick.) write her. She's SO much more then what she's reduced too. She's SO powerful. I think the only reason she's not equal to Ares because I don't know a lot of her myths. She's serving cunt ALWAYS.

POSEIDON: Poseidon being so high is probably a disservice to society. BUT HES SO COOL AND SO POWERFUL????!!! Yes he does shitty stuff I'm not gonna pretend he doesn't, but seeing him in stories is just so entertaining. I typically like reading fanfics with him during the titanomachy or just fanfics where he's being a great uncle (so... super not accurate but it's entertaining). Ngl I giggled when he asked Apollo to fight him during the trojan war and Apollo said "nah im good". Poseidon is a BEAST in the fight with cool ass powers and a BEAST in bed (um.. when it's consentual... fuck I hate greek mythology sometimes). STORMBRINGER (i hope that's Poseidon and not Zeus???) GOD OF THE SEAS

HERMES: Hermes is kind of low, but NOT BECAUSE I DONT LOVE HIM. I tend to like gods who are a bit... violent if it wasn't obvious by the top 4? And even though I know Hermes can be violent I never see him BE violent. He just seems too perfect for me? Name one flaw he has that the other gods don't also have. HOWEVER he's so fun to read about, I don't like Percy Jackson but when I saw Hermes in the tv show I jumped out of my seat. I really like him with Apollo though, it brings a level of complexity that I LOVE.

zeus... I can explain. OKAY SO, I LOVE COMPLEX CHARACTER RIGHT AND GUESS WHO IS A VERY NUANCED GOD IN MYTHOLOGY??? ZEUS! I specifically like him from the titanomachy, because I like to think he was just... different when he was younger. Kind of like one of the typical heroes until the power he has changes him over time. I wish someone wrote a retelling because I'd love to see Zeus and Rhea or Zeus and Cronos interactions during the war. DIONYSUS: His low ranking is more to do with the lack of knowledge but also I'm not too interested in the domains he involves himself with. Never went to a party, never did drugs, never drunk alcohol, etc. HOWEVER I love when Dionysus is completely unhinged. God of MADNESS GUYS!!! ITS IMPORTANT! I love the myths where he's genuinely just being scary as fuck, I love how powerful but underestimated he is.

HERA: She deserves better. If I was her I'd do worse, but like... not to innocent children and women. That's all.

ATHENA: I don't find her that interesting. She just kind of reminds me of that one girl in the class who reminds the teacher they have homework. I am aware that I AM biased though, my top 4 gods consisted of 2 gods that are at odds with her. I just don't like how biased the myths were in her favor, it kind of makes her boring. If Ares or Athena lost equally I wouldn't mind her, but she wins every single time. Even when she loses, Zeus doesn't care and let's her get away with it anyway. Athena, for me, absolutely requires other gods to add complexity to her character.

DEMETER: I like her out of spite because I don't like Hades x Persephone shippers from modern retellings. In particular I don't like the Hades x Persephone shippers that hate on Demeter as if they know anything about her. She's only low because I like a lot of other gods better and I just feel like I'd never be able to write anything with her as a main character because I've never "psychoanalyzed" her like I did the other gods.

HESTIA: *shrug* I don't know her that well, and she doesn't seem to really have any myths to jump off from. The lack of myths and personality puts her low on the list. Though I do love how sweet she is.

HEPHAESTUS: ...he bores me. He doesn't offer anything to me whatsoever. I don't necessarily feel bad for him for the Aphrodite situation either, and I hate when a lot of people who like Hephaestus ignore VERY IMPORTANT details on the myths to serve their purpose. The majority of it is just plain boredom, but I hate how everyone villainized Aphrodite and Ares.

HADES: ...sigh. He's a bit of a unfair one. I'm not someone who can seperate the god from the people who like the god. A lot of Hades fans tend to just piss me off based off the most obvious misinformation in the entire world. I HATE how they try to hate on the other Olympians as if Hades is somehow better then him? He has no myths that doesn't make him better, we just don't have a lot of him. I don't find him necessarily interesting, and I desperately wish for the retellings for him to end. It's not really fair because it's less the god and more the "fans" but whatever it is what it is.

Requested: Percy Jackson x Son of Iris Reader

Request: the reader gets beat up at camp so he goes to stay with his mother, and Percy and the whole camp get gloomy when he's gone

I'm changing it slightly to have the same premise except the reader goes home to his father, and his mother gets him to go back to camp! <33

Y/n sat in the infirmary, his face roughed up from a beating he got from one of the Ares kids. He felt tears prick in his eyes as the scene replayed in his mind, Will the Apollo kid patching him up caught it. "Hey, you doing alright?" Y/n shook his head, "no, I think I'm gonna go home." He wiped his tears, as he tried not to think about what had happened.

One moment he had been using his powers to entertain the younger campers, the next he had an Ares kid beating the shit out of him. He didn't really understand how or why things even escalated, all he knew was it scared him.

"You don't have to leave, it's gonna be okay." Y/n shook his head. "No, I want to go home. Just for a week or so, I can't do this right now. It's not every day you get the shit beat out of you when you're not doing anything to deserve it." He stood up wincing, as he limped out of the infirmary making his way back to his cabin. It was mostly empty as he didn't have many half-siblings. He grabbed his bag before using a rainbow to travel back home.

Setting his bags down as he unlocked the door, and beelined straight for his room. He didn't want to come out he just wanted to stay in his room, until the initial fear of it all subsided.

Percy paced the dining hall back and forth, he hadn't seen y/n since the fight beating had happened. He didn't even know why it happened, all he remembered was pulling an Ares kid off of you and the fear he had seen in your eyes. You're irises literally became almost white.

He was worried about you and when he went to see you in the infirmary, Will said you left. Just left. You completely left and went home.

So now here he was pacing back and forth in the dining hall, he only stopped when Annabeth grabbed his arm. "You alright seaweed brain?" He just shook his head, "no y/n went home after what happened, I don't even know if he's alright." Annabeth looked a little worried at that statement, she knew you weren't really a fighter. She also knew you weren't someone who took lightly to events like that.

"Maybe we should visit him? Maybe we can talk Chiron into talking to Mr. D about letting us leave to check on him?" Percy shrugged, "that would take ages cause Mr. D has never particularly favored me." She looked at him hopefully "it's worth a shot, plus I don't think he hates you anymore. After the war, he's not been as harsh." Percy finally gave in, "fine we'll talk to Chiron, if it doesn't work I'm sneaking out to see him."

It'd been two weeks, you still weren't back and Percy's attempts to sneak out were futile. And everyone could tell he was upset, which was bringing down everyone else's mood. The campers you used to entertain were now bored as well, and they were sad, they missed you.

But you didn't have plans on going back, you had healed decently and only had a few scars now, but you didn't want that to happen again. So you hid out in your room.

You fell asleep watching some movie, you didn't know the name of, cause you hadn't been paying attention. The movie was still playing, so you hadn't been awoken by your door creaking open. And you hadn't noticed the godly presence in your room, not until your head was in their lap.

"my child, I know you're scared. But you must go back to camp, they need you there." Your eyes had opened when she started speaking, and now she was showing you an iris message, it was camp. Percy looked miserable, as did the campers around him, whom he was supposed to be teaching. You couldn't help but feel this need to go back, but at the same time, fear bubbled inside you.

"but- but what if it happens again. I don't- I can't-" your godly parent gently played with your hair, " I know you're scared, but sometimes we have to face our fears to help others. They need you, they really need you there." Your mother stood up, offering your hand. You took it while getting out of bed. In a snap of her fingers, your stuff was packed and you looked presentable.

"Now c'mon son, we must go" you followed her out as she teleported through a rainbow back to camp. As soon as you got there you were greeted by Percy who immediately enveloped you in a hug. "I missed you so much" you held him close to you, "I missed you too."

He pulled back pulling into a short but sweet kiss, before Annabeth rushed over knocking him out of the way to pull you into a hug, "Oh gods, I was so worried about you! You can't just disappear after that, and then not contact me!" She pulled back to scold you then pulled you back into a hug. You smiled at your best friend then pulled her back into a hug. "I missed you too Ann"

Everyone was glad you were back, the aura of the camp seemed so much brighter. All the Ares kids left you alone, Clarisse even came around to apologize for her sibling's behavior. Percy may or may not have forced her to. To say Percy became an overprotective boyfriend after that is an understatement; but you liked it, it made you feel much, much safer.

you all are going to get fucking SICK of me talking about this show but quite honestly this episode was probably the best so far.

so many parts of this episode were amazing, so here are some of my favorites:

the percabeth hug <3 annabeth being in complete disbelief, percy just being relieved, and then being so shocked at annabeth hugging him that he barely has time to respond before she pulls away

i was SO worried they weren't going to have the "wanted fugitive percy" storyline but i'm glad they put it in and it fits perfectly!

the change of having grover stay behind with ares was SUCH a smart move since annabeth and percy didn't get their emotional moment yet

have i mentioned that i love percy knowing all the myths because of sally telling them to him because i love that so much

annabeth never watching movies and percy immediately going "we're changing that" and THEN adding onto the beginning of sea of monsters is literally the day that percy and annabeth have a movie day??? goodbye

i hate ares :)

but like, in the way that you're supposed to hate him and his actor is AMAZING, and the way he so casually said he doesn't like his kids?? clarisse my girl you deserve so much better

percy not knowing how to use his powers but still being able to use them to save annabeth???? hello???

the way percy and annabeth immediately cling to each other after percy's freed, they are now bonded forever and will go insane if separated

LOVE percy squaring up against ares, he's such a little guy but will destroy his kneecaps if needed

also 50% sure grover's going to think the thief is either hermes or clarisse so cannot wait to see how that'll work out

While I do believe some of the criticism LO receives in terms of story are understandable because there's some things that could be better in the story I also cant help but notice that other things talked abour when regarding LO are more personal opinions and just consist on spewing pure hate from people who only focus on some minor details or downright has nothing better to do than shit on the comic, its characters or creator.

1. Persephone isn't a Mary Sue, sure she's kind, friendly and always wants to do the right thing but she still has flaws and makes mistakes like her driving without a liscence, giving money to the shades, keeping secrets, her acting violent even if she has reason to (cough Asspollo cough) or smirking at Ares getting his ass wrecked by her mom. People still scold her for some of the things she does but not as harshly because she isn't a reckless teen but an adult. All the main characters in the story are adults so they are gonna act like it, not like hormonal teens . Plus regarding her trial, Persephone knows she deserves to face the consequences for what she did but she was afraid of the Trial cause it wasn't done with intention to seek righteous justice but to show people that Zeus was the leader of Olympus. The main difference between Kore and Minthe is that while both are insecure about themselves, Persephone doesn't take it out on others and instead tries to improve herself whereas Minthe likes to cause damage to others; she literally likes talking shit of people, endagered Persephone by sending her to Tartarus just so she couldn't see Hades and put Demeter on danger too with the Trial,not just Persephone. And no, the comic didn't do her dirty as she got and took a chance for self improvement and cut off her toxic friend for good.

2. Hades may be rich but he's no Christian Grey. Sure he likes Persephone but he respect her boundaries and treats her like a person and not a possesion like Asspollo, he literally said that he wasn't entitled to her in the 1st season. Sure he's not a perfect saint but he's not a monster either, he didn't fire Minthe or took away her apartment even if he could have after she physically and verbally abused him at work using one of his deepest fears and he did apologize to Thanatos for his treatment of him.

3. Thanatos, Minthe and Zeus aint assholes just for not liking Persephone x Hades, the story doesn't treat them as a monsters for dislikng Persephone but are still shown to be dicks due to how they treated her and Hades as well as others. Minthe greatly disliked Persephone out of jelaousy to the point of endagering her by sending her to Tower 4, liked to rub in her face that Hades was hers uncaring if Hades didn't like it and she tried to get her on Trial by painting her as a villain in the story they told Zeus which affected not only Kore but Demeter as well and also abused Hades. But they still have her a chance to redeem herself and bettering herself as we saw in s3 and she's doing much better now.

Thanatos outright didn't like Persephone, the 1st time they met was when he shoved her with his wings to take the train but even then Kore didn't treat him badly, she even shared her baklaba with him. And what does he do later? Basically insulting her in front of Hecate calling her a moron. While he may be right about Hades maybe being in the wrong for letting her work in the library as she's shown to struggle with stuff on her 1st day that didn't mean he had the right to wotk with Minthe and Thetis to ruin Persephone's life just out of jelaousy and wanting the love of Minthe. He maybe regretted his actions but it doesn't erase them. At the very least hes doing better now with a better partner than Minthe.

Zeus's Trial was wring because he didn't seek justice but to show everyone hes the boss of Olympus even if it meant delivering barbaric and undeserved punishments. He was a dick to Persephone in her Trial alongside her mom, going so far as gaslighting Demeter when she brought up his mistreatments of her. He had reasons to do what he did and we can understand it but he still unnecesarily prolonged Persephone's banishment even if she did everything that was asked of her right which wasn't only affecting her or hades but everyone as well cause they couldn't visit their loved ones and the situation in Olympus wasn't great not only that but tried to get Hades to forget about Persephone with Euridice. But at the very least when Kore saved everyone from Kronos, Zeus lifted her punishment and allowed Hades and Persephone to get married.

4. Demeter isn't a great mom but shes not a cruel monster, she was just lonely and wanted some company so she gave birth to Kore. And despite her shortcomings as a mother, she loves her daughter but deep down wants her to be safe as she knows how cruel the world can be. Of course this doesn't excuse her treatment towards Kore but as weve seen theyre trying to work things out between Kore and Demeter so there's hope for them

If you ask me, most of the "LO Critical" crowd's criticism towards the Webtoon consists of them hating the source material for not playing out how they want/ed it to, going on non-stop about Persehade's age gap romance and calling a relationship between two consenting adults "pedophilia" (the haters sure love to infantilize Persephone), and bashing the author as a person over fiction.

5. What’s a fic idea you’ve had that you will never write?

Probably The Birth of a God, which is a very complicated greek mythology au where Jason is Icarus and he falls in love with Apollo (Tim) and builds the wax wings because he's trying to reach him. After his death he gets revived as Ares (I've assigned out greek gods to over half of the characters in this fic including Dick as Aphrodite, Bruce as Hades, Damian as Thanatos, Barbara as Hephaestus, Cass as Athena, Alfred as Hestia, Duke as Helios) and doesn't tell anyone, but Tim goes to Bruce to get Jason back, which Bruce refuses because he can't. He doesn't tell Tim that he can't because Jason isn't actually there, so of course Tim wages war on him, which drags Jason into it because he's the god of war even though Tim doesn't know that and adkljfdlkfjdlkfdlfjlkdj

Look I love this idea and I'd love to read it but. I'd have to WRITE it and the amount of research I would have to do to twist the plot around the way I want would be insane so it's probably going to die in my brain 😭😭😭

10. Is there a fic that got a different response than you were expecting?

Definitely, and it's Now Kiss. I did not expect the response on that and if you know me, you've heard me talk about that. It just felt so rushed when I was writing it and I didn't get a chance to really edit it the way I wanted to and I've worked way harder on fics before and even if it was one of the ones that I was the most excited to share for JTW, there's just a part of me that's like: that's the one everyone loves so much?

That said, one thing about the response that has been lovely is that I've taken it as permission to trust myself a little more. There were a lot of things with that fic that I was uncertain about, but I liked them and decided to leave them alone even if I wasn't 100% sure because I was on a deadline and wanted it posted. They were probably the kinds of things that I would've fretted about incessantly and edited to death if I'd had more time, but people liked them, so it's been really nice to be able to let go of some of my self-doubt!

18. What’s one of your favorite lines you’ve written in a fic?

Damian has always hated that Tim can carve the meat from an action, pull the bone of it out clean.

grughauhgaruharhgau just. I love this line so much. It says so much about both of them. It was also a tight race between that and this:

Everyone believes Goldie, all of the time. He just flashes that gorgeous smile like a fucking master key, and Jason’s always been a tiny bit jealous that everyone else turned out so goddamn endearing.

Price: *comes out to the cubicles where it's eerily quiet* What's going on?

Gaz: Nothing, Sir. We're just working.

Price: Yeah? Well, it's too quiet. That usually means you lot ar eup to something.

Alex: Not today. Just work.

Price: *frowns when he sees Y/N's empty cubicle* Where are they at?

Soap: They're on break, I think.

Price: *sees Farah's empty desk* And Farah?

Alex: Also on break.

Price: *narrows his eyes* Alright then. . . Good job everyone. *goes back to his office*

Y/N: *is up on the roof crying and hiding in the small outpost type set up that Alex and Farah had made with a couch and sheets and tarps*

Farah: *climbs up the ladder on the side of the building* I thought you might be here. *moves to sit next to them* Do you want to talk about it?

Y/N: I don't know. *wipes face with hands* Just didn't think I'd be fucking bullied as an adult like it's school all over again.

Farah: *hands them a cold soda* I'm sorry she said those things. They were cruel and unnecessary. You didn't deserve to have that happen.

Y/N: It's nothing. I just needed some fresh air. Allergies are getting bad this time of year. *stands up to leave* Sorry, I worried everyone.

Price: *catches Y/N's arm and speaks in a gentler tone* Hey, none of that now. What is it? Did one of the boys do something? Be honest, please.

Farah: Valeria. She's been a bit rough lately

Price: I saw at the pub and was surprised to see you there. Didn't expect her to go so hard on pushing the drinks.

Farah: Then she was pushing here at work. Called them a stupid dog, asking if they barked when you wanted them to.

Price: *is quiet, letting go of Y/N* I see. I'll speak with Valeria. In the mean time, you can either go back to work or take the rest of the day off. It'll be covered.

Y/N: Thanks. *hurriedly scurries away and down to their cubicle to pack up and leave for the day*

Price: Thank you. For telling me. I don't think anyone else would, Farah.

Farah: They are a dear friend and I hate to see any of my friends hurt like this.

I am absolutely obsessed with Through My Window. Binged all three in a day. Any recs for books that give the same vibes?

The Through My Window trilogy is... so good. Whenever people are like "I hate Wattpad" I'm like sure sure, I watch many Wattpad movies, most are bad, but THROUGH MY WINDOW. It gives us full soap opera swings, it has great sex scenes (and a surprising emphasis on safe sex? lmao the Through My Window population are always using condoms... except for Artemis and Claudia, the thirty-year-olds), and it really fucks with what I think is *so wrong* with so many similar movies. In that the guy is a tool, he never actually seems into the girl and thus never changes, and the girl is just DESPERATE and doesn't understand how aaaaanyone could loooove her.

Ares *DOES* change and is obviously fundamentally a good dude who's just been raised in a toxically masculine environment. He's like, not perfect, but he loves Raquel and he wants to do the right thing and emotionally he's basically her bitch from fairly early on in the first movie. And Raquel? IS MESS. She's mess, and she goes "I could bag that motherfucker" and she COULD. She gives him so much shit. Shit he often doesn't deserve, frankly. It's great.

So I don't read a lot of books focusing on characters their age, and this will mostly be character vibes as such.

The Worst Guy by Kate Canterbary. This is about two doctors in their thirties/forties, but I recommend this because they have a very antagonistic relationship at first, before beginning this "no strings" secret sexual relationship that reminds me of the Sekret Sex in the first TMW.

Kennedy Ryan's All the King's Men Duology, OOH YES. So this one does begin when the heroine is 17, but that's not why I'm recommending that because it's brief and as soon as the hero knows she's 17 he stops talking to her, as he should (nothing happens, they literally just talk, he's like 24 and thinks she's older and does not in any way intend to sniff around a 17 year old sssh). But they do meet up again when she's a senior in college, they do hook up, and there is a lot fraught interclass stuff--he has a horrible dad and comes from a billionaire family, she calls him on his shit (she's not crazy like Raquel but you do get that back and forth) and it's HOT.

The Roommate by Rosie Danan. This one has a more upper class heroine and a hero who is in fact an adult film star, but I would recommend this one due to the proximity (and they were roommates) and the way they kind of begin hooking up on the low. There's also an initial prickliness on her part.

The Hook Up by Kristen Callihan. This could definitely work--it's one fo the rare college romances I've enjoyed! The hero is a star quarterback and comes from a more privileged background than the heroine. She kinda hates his ass, he's obsessed with her, and they basically fuck at a party and start hooking up secretly. CAN I SAY. This moment when they first fuck? He literally drops to his knees in someone else's bathroom before railing her on a couch. I was. ABOUT IT.

So yeah, no one to one comparisons as far as contemporaries go, but this is what I would TRY.

this isn’t meant to be mean or anything but. “tag pjo spoilers” the books have been out for 18 years??? obviously i know some people are only just getting introduced to pjo but if they look up pjo on ANY socmed platform, there’s going to be posts dating back years full of spoilers? i think it’s common sense not to look into the tags of show you don’t want spoiled.

When I refer to tagging PJO spoilers, I'm referring to common etiquette for new posts when an adaptation is being made. While the books have been out for years, the tv show has not. There are some spoilers that will genuinely ruin the experience for people watching the show for the first time - people who, for whatever reason they chose, may decide NOT to read the books. I'm referring to tagging relevant spoilers (which I'll list some examples below) not just... everything. I'm not saying go through all our old posts and tag everything, but I am saying to think about tagging newer content!

People will watch the show on its own. It is a piece of media that will stand alone. Some may decide to read the books and it's not fair for them to go into it with spoilers. If they want to dip into the tag to discuss a new episode, I'd hope they wouldn't be bombarded with spoilers from recent posts.

People going into fandom for the first time have every right to experience the story spoiler-free for the first time, and while lifelong fans like us have no obligation to, I'd hope we would all have the compassion to cultivate a positive experience for PJO newcomers! We have the ability to cultivate a safe and wonderful place to enjoy this world! Why should we not?

If they want to go into the Percy Jackson and the Olympians tag and talk about the episodes, where they think the plot will go - why should they not have that right? Why should book readers gatekeep the fandom and prevent them enjoying this show? If they don't want to blacklist tagged spoilers or willing engage in posts marked with spoilers, that's one thing, but it's common etiquette to acknowledge that, in this environment, we can take a simple step and tag spoilers. It doesn't really take very long.

Hopefully, if they feel this is an accepting and warm fanbase, they'll decide to read the books. If not, who cares? They still deserve to read the story. The idea of "the books have been out long enough!!" is, frankly, a little "holier-than-thou" and condescending. It implies that you're only a real fan if you've read the book prior - which just isn't true!

There are some elements of the story that we can tease online (Dr. Kane, Blackjack, any Nico or Bianca reference, etc.) but there's a lot that forms the fabric of the story Rick Riordan and the team behind this show is trying to tell.

Some examples of spoilers I mean when I say to censor/tag: (You'll notice this is just a list of spoilers that would ruin the story to know ahead of time)

Luke betraying Percy (this one is pretty obvious to tag)

Luke's ultimate fate (I've seen this one get spoilers)

Kronos being the final villain (that's a well-written mystery in the books, unless you're like me and obsessed with greek myth)

Ares being a villain fake-out

Hades being a villain fake-out

Tyson being a cyclops and Percy's brother

Bianca Di Angelo. Specifically, her decision to join the hunters and her literal death.

Zoë's death. Zoë's backstory.

Most things Nico related. His villain fake-out in the fourth book, especially. That was so well written in the books. I ADORE Nico, he's my first little guy. He's so cool, and I want to see people fall in love with his arc in the same way we all got to!

Hate to say it, Nico is a walking spoiler lol.

Pretty much the entire plot of the last book. I hate to say it, but that book is so well-written. There's so much foreshadowing. So much care put into crafting the story to erupt into what is one of the BEST books in the riordanverse, imo.

Notice I'm not saying anything too obvious - like certain character relationships (Percabeth is fair game, its iconic!) or even letting people know where the book differs. I'm talking about major plot elements. Major plot spoilers. If your friend was reading the books for the first time, what would you refrain from telling them?

Of course, there's no obligation to tag or censor your spoilers. I'm not telling anyone to do that. It's a gentle suggestion. I'm going to tag spoilers. That's just my choice, and i hope other people do but I'm not going to enforce it or start fights about it.

I do understand that if people want to avoid spoilers completely, they should stay away from main fandom spaces, but there are certain aspects of fandom that should be safe - like, somewhere online to gush about the show between seasons!

To reiterate: I'm not upset when people aren't tagging spoilers, I just think it'd be nice! Percy Jackson is one of the best fandoms I've been involved in! I hope other people experience that warmth and joy! One way to do that is by helping craft a courteous and spoiler-free experience.

Love to hear your rants and reviews. Wanted to know how you feel about how they recently portrayed Ares. Was totally annoying and very confusing. Lore Ares loved his Gf and kids. I just know she's going to be married to Hephaestus. Ugh. I'm really concerned with why they did this. I thought they had an open relationship in this comic and they didn't show Ares being a dick to her. Instead we had to get this off-handed BS of us talking about what happened in the time gap. Do you think it's necessary that they did this? And for what reason would he just automatically ignore Zeus's orders and let her just travel right into the underworld. Why are characters willing to disobey Zeus for her. A CRIMINAL. I don't get it.

I agree with you. I also hate how Ares basically crossed boundaries and even after Persephone made it clear she wasn't interested, he didn't relent. It's pretty scummy for him to use his power over her in this situation in order to get a date out of her.

I don't really like Aphrodite in LO but she definitely deserves better. Ares and some of the other men constantly compared her to someone who was in their teens at the time LO began and Ares likely continued to do so for years. I don't blame her for leaving him in the slightest.

About the timeskip, it was necessary but the way it was done wasn't good. 10 years is a long time and this results in most of the episodes so far having flashbacks in them. It's a very drastic change compared to season one - season two's mid season break as LO was basically going from day to day. LO really needed them before but a ten year timeskip out of nowhere ain't it.

Also, the reason Ares betrayed Zeus' orders besides wanting a date is because no one is really on Zeus' side here. Especially after Hades screwed over all of Olympus only a week after the trial, he didn't even wait for Persephone to start the punishment before fucking over the economy. And of course, Zeus is blamed for Hades' behavior because he punished her and Hades saw the punishment as unreasonable (Hades' idea of a punishment for her was community service btw).

It's funny because the actual punishment doesn't seem to be affecting the gods as people claimed, it was Hades' actions after the punishment that really hit them.

(If the punishment itself affected the gods, it has yet to be shown.)

I will share my honest opinions

Sumire,is my cute girl I love her so much. She is so amazing,wonderful and beautiful. Akane girls rules!!! My second queen after Aoi! She deserved a better life but I'm glad that no.6 fulfilled her wish and her tormentors are in hell. I love Sumire so much but less than Aoi. Aoi is my number #1 girls The poor girl didn't deserve to end like this.

Mei I like Mei and as no.4 I like her as well. I love her power. I don't have any special feelings for her. I just like her.

Here the matter is complicated, because she used to be my queen, but she is no longer. I hate her and I like her. I find her to be an interesting character, but I hate her much more because she is a truly evil person. First, Hanako said that he was her service dog. Cheeky woman. Hanako is not your dog, forcing someone to do something is not related to the dog. Her dog is a hyuuga and she should get the hell away from Hanako, because the only dog she has at her service and on a leash is her hyuuga and he loves to be used by his mistress, so shut that stupid mouth. Secondly, use daikon. I'll surprise you here, won't I? Despite my feelings for daikon and what a terrible person she is, SAKURA is a thousand times worse, at first she pretended to be her friend, she manipulates her by pretending to be friends so that she can take advantage of her. Daikon is dumb and naive, but at this point it's not her fault. It's sakura's fault. Disgusting move, but they don't have a problem with it (What hyuuga did to mitsuba), I know sakura uses everyone, but daikon is really the most disgusting. Consciously manipulating the feelings of a naive girl and showing her scenes like what happened with Sumire, this fake concern to make her understand that she MUST break Tsukasa's seal for HER selfish desire. Disgusting.

sakura uses all, She really doesn't care about anything. This makes her cold and really selfish. I have read many times that Hanako is selfish when he is not, while Sakura is disgusting and the most selfish person in the entire series. I don't care about her past. no.6 his past didn't make me like him, so the same may happen with sakura.

AidaIro always makes her look 'cool' by doing something bad, and on their twitter they often show her 'suffering' while in the manga she is disgustingly cold-faced and impassive. Its external appearance does not affect me in the same way as like daikon. It doesn't matter if she is sexy or beautiful, but so what? inside she is a nasty person.

there's also something about her that interests me and I can't get mad at her, despite my negative opinion of her, because I think that she's really interesting in some way, that's what makes her, that somewhere I feel sympathy for her, which makes me that I can say that I like her.

Don't ask me how this is possible, because I don't understand it myself.

I know one thing for sure, that when it comes to the situation with Hanako because of her and the way she treats the daikon, I will not forgive her, I will always hold a grudge against her, even if AR will possibly make me be more gentle towards her or I will be able to love her again.

know it's crazy with sakura, but that's how I feel.
