Fundraiser for University's Drag Show

This...is going to be one of the rare times that I go talking about my personal life, but I feel like it is necessary for what I am trying to accomplish. So, I am a member of Seattle University's Triangle Club (Seattle U LGBTQ+ Club (@su_triangleclub)), a student-led LGBTQ+ organization, and on May 21, we are hosting our 18th annual drag show. But lately, our donation requests and fundraising endeavors haven't been the best, especially since our members are new to organizing an event such as this. While our student government will fund half of our requested budget, we are still $500 short from our budget goal. So, I want to ask anyone scrolling by if you could spare a few dollars to help make up the difference. Even $5 can go towards paying for performer's parking passes. Hello, dear! Just wanted to let you know that censoring words like "rape" with "r@pe" isn't necessary on Tumblr like it is on the clock app AND it's actually kind of harmful bc of someone has the word "rape" blacklisted, any censored versions of it will get past their filters unless they manually add each one, which is much more likely to trigger someone in the meantime. I've seen people say that the word "feels gross" in the past, but that's sort of the point, y'know? Anyway thanks for sharing all the info you do! (Also this applies to other words too like suicide.)

Well, I am aware of that and I have used the word "rape" before but once I received some criticism on that matter. Ever since I just censor words like "rape" or refer to it as "S.A" or "non-consensual". It's not that I have a problem expressing my thoughts like that, but many people feel like words like that shouldn't be used so freely, so I just try to respect it. There are times I forget and others I remember to do that, but I pretty much agree that words should be used freely, that's why they exist afterall!

Just wanted to let you know the story of Rhea Silvia/Ilia being raped by Ares is not just Roman. Plutarch has written: "But the story which has the widest credence and the greatest number of vouchers was first published among the Greeks, in its principal details, by Diocles of Peparethus, and Fabius Pictor follows him in most points."

So we really should stop saying her story doesn't count as a Greek myth and accept that there is a myth where Ares rapes (but there are non r@pey versions too).

I literally went to search what you say dear, maybe it was something that slipped my mind, but now that I did I kinda understand what you say.

The Myth of Mars r@ping Rhea-Silvia or Ilia is mostly written by Roman writers, rather than Greek ones. Also, I searched a lot about it and the only mention that Ares was said to r@pe her was on modern art pieces, and found literally nothing. Also, I went to theoi.com, one of the only sources I trust, and I only found this:

I saw the word "seduced" and "Mars [ the Roman Ares]".

I haven't encountered that source you used, as it was not linked up there, but I also didn't find anything more enlightening on that matter.

I do not disagree that Mars r@ped Rhea-Silvia, but on the other hand I haven't read something tangible about Ares doing so.

Maybe I am missing something, so I kindly ask you to send me the link maybe?

Let's start by saying I am a food lover!

I love food, I eat food like I have been starved for a month and I eat a lot! Good thing is I am still at normal weight, which makes everyone who knows me to wonder how is that possible. It's not that I do not gain weight, I do gain but it is too little if we take into consideration the amount of food I eat.

Well, I eat almost everything!

Almost! I hate eggplants, onions and garlic. I don't eat sausage and coffee makes my stomach funny! I'm not crazy I swear!

I don't have anything against Apollo, but I prefer Ares over him for reasons I have explained multiple times! But I will never get tired of listing them😁!

Idk why, I headcanon that Ares is a goth jock. (Hades is goth prep, Thanatos is goth goth and Hypnos is goth nerd). Ares is associate with dancing right? So imagine a goth jock Ares dancing like Wednesday Addams. In that Wednesday tv show lol.

I would like to ask if you know who the children of Ares and Aphrodite are exactly? or which ones are recognized as such most frequently because I have seen quite a few differences 😂 The most I have seen has been seven, Deimos, Phobos, Eros, Anteros, Himerus, Harmony and Adrestia. It seems incredible to me that they had more children than the couples of married gods XD There was passion in this relationship, that's for sure.

Well, the number of their children varies from one source to another. I have read about Deimos, Phobos, Eros, Anteros, Himeros, Adrestia and Harmonia, just like you referred. I also did a complementary search on theoi.com and I found this.

Here you can see that the most referred children of Ares and Aphrodite do not contain the names of Himeros and Adrestia...

This indicates the complexity of the ancient sources, just like you said!

Personally, I feel a little bad that most of them do not have distinctive myths of their own😔.

And of course they had a bunch of children together. The two most passionate gods put their bodies into work😉.

And the one thing I want to highlight is that if you analyze the names of their children and their natures, you will see that they represent the most powerful emotions that rule humanity. Deimos is terror, Phobos is fear, Adrestia is revenge and balance between good and evil, Harmonia is the perfect balance of love and war, Eros is love and sex, Anteros is reciprocation and Himeros is pleasure!
