“Leo!” Nyssa called, her voice echoing against the metal walls of cabin nine. Upon hearing no response from her little brother- he is probably listening to music at unholy decibels again- She opened the door fully, making her way back to Leo’s workbench.

To her surprise, the cabin was quiet. Apart from the whirring of a few machines and the sounds from campers outside, the typically rambunctious cabin nine was entirely peaceful. Normally, on the rare occasions that this happened, she basked in the few moments of peace, however, currently it was just concerning. Leo hates the quiet. The kid gets all jittery when there's no noise to stimulate him and will make noise himself if necessary to keep his speedy little brain in check.

She sped up, making her way through the maze that was their living space due to all the half-finished projects she and her siblings had lying about. She had tried many times to get them to keep their cabin even slightly organized but that was basically a lost cause at this point. (She was always a bit of a hypocrite when it came to keeping a tidy space anyway).

“Leo, Oh.”

The tightness in her chest loosened as she stopped at his work desk. Her little brother snored softly, his head resting atop his mountain of blueprints. She watched him for a moment, taking in his features. She noted the dark circles under his eyes and the way his cheeks sunk in ever so slightly. He hadn’t been quite the same since coming back, not that she could blame him after everything he went through, but she was still worried. Gently, she removed his skewed goggles from his face, before lifting the smaller boy into her arms -gods above this boy is tiny. With plans in her mind to feed him later -heavens sake, I’m turning into my Abeula- she brought him to his bunk which was, thankfully, already out. She tucked him under the covers and planted a kiss on his forehead. “Te quiero, Hermano.”

After turning off the lights (except for one near Leo's bed, as she knows he doesn’t like it completely dark), she left the cabin, heading back to the forges.

“Didja find him?” Jake asked, looking up from whatever he was welding.

She nodded, “Yeah, he passed out at his workbench, you’re gonna have to do this project without him.”

She knew many of her other siblings were relying on Leo for this massive project they had wanted to do, (It was frankly ridiculous but they were excited about it so she didn’t say anything), but Leo’s health came first and she’d be sure to make that clear. Besides he had already done more than enough for all of them- The kid had sacrificed his life damn it, the least they could do was take care of him now.

“Oh- Well that's alright, we’ll manage. Gods know that kid needs more sleep.”

My head canons about Drew Tanaka:

1. Her father is a child of Dionysius. I mean she does give the vibes of the wine aunt.

2. She has siblings. And not like other children of Aphrodite. Her father has other children.

3. Her father was an actor when he met Aphrodite and fell in love with her and had Drew. When he found out that she was a goddess and just disappeared into thin air he was furious.

4. He wanted revenge and that attracted Nemesis. And thus her 1st brother was born. (in my AU his name is Ethan, I love this name) He made him even more angry and he was petty as hell.

5. He decided to practice magic to get his revenge and this attracted *drum role* Hecate. And thus her 2nd brother was born.(in my AU his name is Albastor, I love this name as well) After this her father gave up and just tried to raise them as a single parent.

6. Drew is allergic to like everything. Trying to buy her something is very hard. Like chocolates, can't have pistachios or almonds in them. Clothes, don't you dare give her silk she will kill you and then die. Flowers, well you get it.

7. She is bisexual and falls in love with every single person she meets. Never in a serious way but she gets bi panic all the time.

8. The 1st time she broke someone's heart, it was a mortal boy and she felt horrible for it.

9. She dated Nyssa (from Hepheastus cabin) secretly for 3 months and then went public. She is in a serious relationship with her and is absolutely smitten.

10. She was very close to Selina. Her betrayal was a big blow to her. I don't think she hated Selina for betraying camp but rather because she left her. I think she probably felt as if Selina chose her love for Charles over her.

11. She can use a gun. Seriously I imagine that the camp is under attack and everyone is fighting. And then Drew *I don't fight* Tanaka will pull out a gun and start shooting every monster in range with perfect accuracy.

12. She is friends with the Stoll twins, Malcolm pace, Nyssa, and Katie. And she high key ships Travis and Katie.

It’s come to my attention that Keep Your Face Always Towards the Sun has reached over 200k words. Which I was not aware was a lot until I looked up how many pages in a book that was.

It’s 800.

So. That’s a lot. Uh, I’ve got the next chapter written, but I’m still working on the one after that. Otherwise I’d say, let me just update this and have a whole to do about it in the end notes.

I know I posted about all of this but all of the comments people made with Leo and fire before they knew about it is just pure fucking heartbreaking.

(A mischievous smile that told you right away this guy should not be trusted around matches or sharp objects.)

("It breaths fire." Nyssa explained. "It's deadly and out of control.")

("A long time ago some children of Hepheastus were born with power of fire. But that ability was very, very rare. And always dangerous.")

And the fact that he blames himself for his Mom dying and probably believes every word.

I know they didn't know but they still labled him as "dangerous" and "a catastrophe". Maybe I'm being too biased about it because from their POV everything they're saying is true but... Idk. I think I'm just saying shit now.

Don't think about how Dryssa would be a big part into Drew's character development. Don't think about how Drew would resent the Hephaestus because of Silena falling for Beckendorf. Don't think about Drew developing feelings for Nyssa after always being paired with her during capture the flag due to Piper and Leo. Don't think about how confused she would be not because Nyssa is a girl, but because she's from cabin 9. Don't think about her finally opening up to Piper explained why she's so conflicted. Don't think about Nyssa having a crush on Drew but thinking it could never work because Drew hates her cabin. Don't think about Nyssa making Drew weapons she can actually use. Don't think about Drew flirting with Nyssa but Nyssa thinking it's in her head because there is just no way. Don't think about them finally getting together.
