When did this "Mary, Marlene and Dorcas" as Lily's friends thing start? Is it the influence of The Fic Which Shall Not Be Named?
Why has the Marauders fandom been sleeping on Emmeline Vance and Hestia Jones, who most likely knew James and Lily well enough to want to go and fetch Harry from the Dursleys in OotP?

the fact that most of the people in this fandom don’t even seem to like the books😭if you didn’t enjoy canon why the fuck are you here. fandom is for nerds. this “fuck canon, canon doesn’t matter, well sirius and remus were ~straight~ in canon so i hate it!” shit is actively anti nerd. deeply annoying and also not even technically true.

When I say I love Barty Crouch Jr.
What I mean is I won't hesitate to jump him, coz he was a piece of shit who did horrible stuffs including killing a person that was also his father and transforming the dead body into a bone so that nobody would find it. That is a different level of even the lowest of low. And no I will never be convinced by the marauders fanon babaygirl version of him. I love his weord paychotic character, but not him.
Also no, he was not friends with my precious Luna's mother fuck off

It's (not) only fiction...
Marauder fanon's reaction to us less inclined to like the fanon is often to say "loll, why do you care that we completely changed these fictional characters. They are not real".
While my initial thought is always: "I don't care what you do or like (and I definitely don't want you to feel attacked), I just don't like it," I wanted to give the reaction more thought. Because it's a fair point. Why don't I just change the characters completely, when in general, I really would like to stick it to JKR in every way I can (and the fanon is doing a good job of that).
The reason I care about canon characters is because I grew up with the books as pretty much my only close friends for a big part of my childhood and tweens. I have deep personal relationships with the characters. This means I am selective in ships and AUs - they have to be explored based on the behaviours and personalities that stay true to how I understood my fictional companions to be. If it's an unlikely pair, it doesn't mean it can't happen, but there must have been something to trigger it and there might be challenges in the relationship - which btw would be fascinating to explore.
I believe it's important for those of us who grew up with the books, who waited for another release to see whether Harry would win the Quidditch House Cup, would be able to live with Sirius at one point, would be able to survive now that Voldemort had returned, who maybe held out hope that Sirius hadn't actually died, who wondered, with real fear whether Harry would survive the final battle or not (though rationally knowing he had plot armour), to recognise that to us, these characters are real. It's okay to feel passionate about how they are presented and seek out and bond with others who feel the same (as long as we respect that that others again feel differently).
To paraphrase Dumbledore: 'Of course this is fiction, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real.'

Finally someone who hates wolfstar as much as I do 😭 I'm tired of people pretending that these two are meant for eachother and cannot be shipped with anyone else cause it's WOLFSTAR. Who could ever hate WOLFSTAR (shit like this makes me maddddd)
I refuse to believe any true sirius fans actually ship that shit. why why why pair him up with that guy? It has no basis in canon and I hate that it's everywhere like a plague. I'm suprised the stans haven't sustained injuries from their excruciating reaching.

“Easy for you to say, stuck here!” bellowed Fred. “I don’t see you risking your neck!” The little color remaining in Sirius’s face drained from it. He looked for a moment as though he would quite like to hit Fred, but when he spoke, it was in a voice of determined calm. “I know it’s hard, but we’ve all got to act as though we don’t know anything yet. We’ve got to stay put, at least until we hear from your mother, all right?”
Yeah, Sirius is clearly so impulsive, he has zero self-control.
People just seem to take Sirius and Snape's fights based on the slightest insults and run with it, not thinking about how this is a years-long enmity and Snape has the same amount of reservation when it comes to taunting and fighting Sirius as he does: which is to say none.
Sirius has plenty of calm and strategic smarts otherwise.

To all those shippers that depict Sirius as a self-absorbed, short, fem twink with a flare for dramatics -- and Remus as a tall, angry, buff, dom werewolf daddy -- go ahead, it's a fully rounded dynamic! You're actually shipping Gilderoy Lockhart x Fenrir Greyback though! Remember to tag correctly folks! Hope this helps 🥰 🥰

This fandom is so obsessed with angry Remus as if Remus John Lupin was even capable of being angry or holding a grudge. This man had an inferiority complex the size of the fucking moon. He internalized society's perception of werewolves and he loathes himself for being one. He didn't believe he deserved to be angry, and he proves it in canon over and over.
When Snape outed him as a werewolf and he resigned from his post at Hogwarts, he agreed that he wasn't fit to teach with his condition and graciously packed his things. Later, he said he held no resentment and even expressed gratitude for the fact that Snape brewed Wolfsbane for him and had the decency to never tamper with it despite their rough history.
When The Prank happened, he was very quick to forgive Sirius (assuming he even felt the need to forgive him in the first place) because they're chilling by the lake weeks later and he's asking Sirius to test him for their upcoming exam. Honestly, I'm of the mind that there was no fallout after the Prank because Remus would have just brushed it off and pretended it was no big deal (even if deep down he was genuinely hurt by it)
And I'm convinced that he didn't even resent Fenrir Greyback for seeking him out to bite him. He never once expresses a desire for vengeance, and even admitted that he felt pity for the werewolf that bit him until he learned his identity.
When he caught himself sounding ungrateful while talking to Harry about being forced to live among the pack to spy again in HBP, he immediately corrected himself and said, “I am not complaining; it is necessary work and who can do it better than I?" (Also a nod to Remus' hero worship of Dumbledore and his desperate desire to serve his every whim) ((seriously, dominant Remus WHO?))

Regulus wasn't forced by his parents to join the Death Eaters
What do we know about the Black family? I'll write a post about this because there's quite a bit we know if we read the canon in depth.
But the main point for this post is that for the Blacks, the survival and prosperity of their lineage were critically important.
The survival of their surname was in a precarious state at that time because women did not keep their surname nor pass it on to their children. Only two people could continue the line – Sirius and Regulus.
Preserving their lineage was so crucial for the Blacks that they didn't officially disown Sirius after his escape, or they reinstated him after Regulus's death. Because Sirius was the last Black. The last one who could carry on their line. Even if he was a rebellious Gryffindor who liked "mudbloods," he was still a Black.
When Sirius died, even the portrait was upset, although it's not alive. It's simply a reflection of the Blacks' attitude towards the survival of their lineage.
Am I to understand,’ said Phineas Nigellus slowly from Harry’s left, ‘that my great-great-grandson – the last of the Blacks – is dead?’
‘Yes, Phineas,’ said Dumbledore.
‘I don’t believe it,’ said Phineas brusquely.
Harry turned his head in time to see Phineas marching out of his portrait and knew that he had gone to visit his other painting in Grimmauld Place. He would walk, perhaps, from portrait to portrait, calling for Sirius through the house ...
By the time Regulus was 16, Sirius had already run away from home.
Now, explain to me, all you fans of the "Regulus was forced" idea, what would be going through Orion and Walburga's heads to make them push their last hope for the continuation of their lineage into joining a combat organization where people are constantly being killed?
Considering they didn't join themselves because they disliked the methods and probably understood Tom's real goals.
Walburga was in school with Tom Riddle and was two years older than him. Orion Black was also in school with Tom, but he was two years younger. By that time, Tom Riddle aka Voldemort, hadn't yet changed his appearance to the point of being unrecognizable. They all knew who Voldemort was. Tom Riddle. An orphan boy. Likely, they knew he was the heir of Slytherin, which was important for the Blacks because, for them, it wasn't about money but about blood. True nobility and dignity are in the blood, not wealth. The Blacks aren't the Malfoys. And as Sirius said, at some point, they were inspired by Tom's ambition to change the situation in their country, although Sirius obviously knew very little about Voldemort, as he was hardly discussed in front of the children. But initially, the Blacks were inspired because he was worthy, the heir of Slytherin, right?
Probably Orion, Arcturus/Pollux realized that Tom didn't care about blood purity. He cared about his own power. By the time they understood this, Tom's power was already too strong, and he had won much support among the pure-blood society, who believed he genuinely cared about pure-blood wizards.
Why did Sirius say he was sure their parents were proud of Regulus?
Because most likely, not both parents were proud, as Sirius doesn't mention the father at all, and Walburga had an irrational desire to see her son as a hero. Sirius – the lineage's continuer, and Regulus – a brave and courageous warrior for blood purity. Because being a Death Eater was seen as brave and cool. They were revolutionaries. Chosen warriors.
Moreover, Bella was already in the organization and could influence Walburga's opinion against Orion and Arcturus's wishes. Playing on Walburga's emotional irrationality wasn't very hard, especially for Bella and Rodolphus.
Bella was in love with Voldemort. Rodolphus was devoted to Voldemort from the start, as Lestrange Sr. had been a supporter of Tom since their school days. The Rosiers fall into the same group. Surprise, surprise, Bella's mother – Druella Rosier, was likely the sister of that very Rosier who was with Tom from the start and who was Evan Rosier's father. Cygnus Black is open for interpretation, but my headcanon is that from a young age, he was a bit more aggressive than the others and didn't quite fit into the family dynamics and control (and Bella took after him in part).
Who convinced Regulus to join the organization, even knowing Orion and the Blacks were against it?
From the little we know about Regulus, it's clear he was a maximalist inclined to broad "heroic" actions, with his own understanding of honor. He had been committed to the idea of blood purity from childhood, believing it to be truly noble and important. He wanted to be a hero and admired Voldemort. Also, always being second to Sirius, he wanted to prove his worth. That he too was strong and brave and capable of significant, but correct actions. And, our beloved Bella was there. She helped him join the organization at 16.
If you want tragedy in Regulus Black's story, here it is:
Regulus Black went to his death knowing he was the last of the Blacks. He destroyed his family. His lineage. Put an end to it. Even for Sirius, running away was easier because Regulus was still there. When Regulus went to his death, Sirius had already run away from home.
There's much more interesting stuff here than "Regulus was forced." But who cares, right? Fuck canon, live fanon.

I'm going to go on a little rant here but this "let people have fun" mentality isn't as healthy as some of you like to advertise. There is a real problem with changing everything about canon. And, contrary to belief, it's not for petty reasons.
It's not because you've made Sirius shorter or dumber than Remus. It's not because you've made James gay. It's not even for the atrocities you've committed - and continue to commit - against Lily and Tonks. (Though I admit this factors into my own vendetta).
It's because you are actively, and unabashedly, turning off a whole group of people from reading the series themselves. We now have a whole lot of "fans" that aren't actually fans, and it's a problem.
Regardless of your opinions on JKR, media literacy is important. People should be able to read and form their own opinions before being told what to think. Scaring fans away from canon because you've convinced them that fanon is somehow better is bad.
And when these "fans" come on here to share opinions that they've based off of the misinformation they've been fed, they will be wholly unprepared to handle any kind of backlash they may face.
And because they can't argue their case, they will start to associate disagreement with hostility. They will go on the defensive - use the excuse of "well that's just my opinion" - and thus the cycle continues. No room for healthy debate. No room for conversation.
TLDR; "Let people have fun" completely shuts down the chances of any kind of productive discussion. It's ruining fandom.

Honestly my fave marauders story
And it’s not really the marauders. It’s AU, Peter doesn’t escape. Sirius and Remus live together - platonically but wonderfully (not all stories about love have to be love stories). Sirius’ first focus is Harry; the second his friend and his life. And I’m here for every second of it. It’s love for Sirius. It’s love for James. It’s love for Remus. It’s love for Harry. And none of the characters are flawless <3
Here’s one of my fave extracts:
It was quite wonderful, having the whole of the British Isles open to him as a possibility to set up home in. He knew he wanted to get out of London. When he was seventeen, he'd bought a flat in Bristol, which had the benefit of being a city and not too far from James' parents, but now he thought he wouldn't mind the countryside so much either. It would probably be easier to set up somewhere for Harry to play quidditch there too.
"Oxfordshire's nice." Remus suggested as the two of them discussed the matter one evening. "It's where my parents lived before they moved us up north. But Yorkshire was very pleasant too."
Sirius remembered. He'd enjoyed the short few hours he'd spent at Remus' having snuck away there without permission after his first year. It had been so green and hilly with its picturesque rolling dales. A world away from concrete London.
"Can't understand a word they say though."
Remus rolled his eyes. "Don't be daft."
"Daft." He imitated, emphasising the shorter vowel.
"I'm not really northern." Remus said, a little defensively, it had to be said. "But if I was, would that be such a bad thing?"
"Southern fairy."
"Northern monkey."
Remus flicked a spoonful of custard at him.
"I rest my case." Sirius said.
In the end, Sirius decided to talk to Harry about it. He met up with him in Hogsmeade one weekend and they'd gone for a drink.
"Oh my God." "It's Sirius Black!"
Students stared and pointed as he and Harry sat with their butterbeers in The Three Broomsticks.
Harry grinned at him. "It's nice not being the one being stared and pointed at for a change."
Sirius flicked his butterbeer foam at him.
"I don't mind." Harry said predictably as Sirius asked him where he'd like to live.
"What about near Ron? Ottery St Catchpole, right? Near the coast…?"
"That sounds nice." Harry said, though a little noncommittally, Sirius couldn't help but notice.
He frowned at his godson. "Where would you like to live, Harry?" He got the distinct impression he was holding back on something.
Harry looked down at the table then back up tentatively. "Sirius, where did my parents live?"
Sirius smiled. Of course. Why hasn't he thought of that? "You want to live in Godric's hollow." He said. "It's perfect."
He soon realised why he hadn't thought about it when he arrived in the little village with Remus the following week.
Being back here, in the place where Lily and James had lived and later died brought back memories that made it almost impossible to continue.
"Do you remember, we used to go for drinks here." He said to Remus, indicating the little pub on the high street. "Lily always insisted on inviting that bloody Bathilda. I can't say I particularly enjoyed her company." He'd spent far too many hours in history of magic at Hogwarts to appreciate being lectured at in his adult life too.
"Do you want to see it?" Remus said quietly.
Sirius didn't have to ask what he was referring to.
The last time he'd been to the cottage Lily and James had lived in had been the night they'd died. The memory of it still made his blood run cold. The terror, grief, horror and disbelief he'd felt on seeing their lifeless bodies was something that would stay with him forever.
"I dunno." He said. "Maybe when Harry's with us."
He'd do it for his godson. Surely Harry had a right to see where they lived. They would go together one day.

Unpopular opinion but......
Am I the only one who misses the og marauders? The marauders fandom isn't even about the marauders now, 99% of their canon personality traits hv been replaced with cliqued behaviour. For some reason there's a massive obsession with their sexuality and I just don't get it? Lyk can't u have a character with any sexual orientation with personality traits outside it anymore? Does there really need to be a complete erasure of their most defining traits? I just wish we could get the actual marauders era characters back
James Potter: Pureblood, rich, intelligent, arrogant, a bully, but extremely loyal; took Sirius in and turned into an animagus for his werewolf bestie when the whole world would have shunned him; he could have led a life of utmost comfort but chose to risk his life and fight for those he loved in a war that didn't even concern him personally. His last words were asking his wife and child to escape while he tried to hold voldy off without a wand
Sirius Black: Haughty, a bully, extremely good looking, cool, rich, blood traitor by 16, comes from a family of literal death eaters, very intelligent, loyal, will do anything for those he loves( especially james and later Harry), thick as hell (my boy really survived in a depression prison for 12yrs, tht too after all the horror he'd seen before that), dark, very traumatized and broken
Remus Lupin: Gentle (yup u read that right), kind, mischievous (ppl really overlook this), very insecure, let james and Sirius bully Snape coz he was too thankful for their acceptance and affection to tell them off, considered himself undeserving of love, his self loathing prevents him from being a responsible adult/ parent for Harry, lowkey manipulative. Very compassionate and empathetic even after everything he's been thru tho
Peter Pettigrew: Considered slow and stupid, insecure, tags along with the others for protection, but obviously cunning and manipulative, a disgusting rat tho
Regulus Black: Teenage Reggie worshipped death eaters, he had newspaper clippings of them on his wall, completely believed in those racist ideologies until he realised what the reality of being a death eater was. He tried to bring voldy down but there's no evidence of him completely changing his beliefs about everything else like muggle borns, muggles, werewolves etc. Very cunning and intelligent tho, he discovered voldemort's secret before Dumbledore did. Liked kreacher but kreacher was also brainwashed with pureblood ideology, so I ll only give him half the credit. Bravely sacrificed his life in the end, but he still chose to protect his racist family.
Lily Evans: muggleborn, good at portions, described as popular and vivacious, pretty, the favourite sibling, isn't afraid of standing up to ppl (tht smirk in swm tho?), very brave, and most importantly (ppl really choose to forget this nowadays) a mother who stood in front of her baby boy in hopes of saving him from the darkest wizard alive even tho she herself was only 21 at the time, tht too right after losing her husband. Tho I'd still say that lily is a badly written character
It's fun to explore characters but not one of these core characteristics r even present. They're turned into one dimensional social justice warriors who r always right in everything they do
Now I get it, ppl want them to fit with current day ideals, but y not just create different/new characters then? What's the point of holding on to that nostalgia if most of their character isn't even there anymore? Where's all the toxicity coming from? And anyone who doesn't agree is homophobic and whatever other -phobic u choose to employ in the most irrelevant context ever. It's all so stupid smh🙄
