Highway Apostles, Take Me In Your Arms
Say more please 0.0
Ok so both you and @quietwingsinthesky asked me about this one (and here's where I show my ass about how disorganized I am lol):
I have three wips under this title. One looks to have been a semi-solid attempt at some sort of "Sam-speaking-Enochian-post-hell" fic (a la "Words Like Glass" by Broken_Cinders on ao3, which I've read like a dozen times.)
They drive north after Bristol for no real reason—although Bobby does find a case—other than to put as much distance between themselves and any and all memories of that fucking city as fast as they possibly can. Without saying that’s what they’re doing, of course. The drive up is quiet. When it's not, they're filling the empty, quiet space with shop-talk and complaints about the weather (because while it had been cold in Bristol, it's cold as hell in Boston, and real fucking cold once they hit Maine.)
Another seems to have been a weird mystery spot just like, ficlet or something idk. It used second person (so this is how I know I was depressed when I wrote it but only lightly, I try different styles when I'm sad but not like drowning levels of sad.) No excerpt because I literally just have a sentence or two of what I was vibing with that day as the description in my docs.
And the third (from what I can gather from my notes) seems to have been like a Dean fic where Dean kept getting jumpscared by various supernatural entities that looked like Sam that would go from pre-series all the way past a post-Swan Song AU):
It wasn't the first hunt he'd been on, nor was it the first haunting. Nor, Dean knew, would it be the last (wasn't even close to being the last.)
And there was nothing particularly special about the hunt either: an abandoned, haunted mill, a nameless specter that clung to the twilight of life and death, and had a passion from ripping off the limbs of anyone that went anywhere near the place.
But there'd been a moment—a shining, flickering, horrific moment—where the gaunt face of the child who'd had his arm torn off sometime around the turn of the past century had looked, in the dying light of day, like Sammy.
And Dean had hesitated.
(Dad hadn't.)
Yeah idk the title is from a song called "Hand Back Down" from the band The Devil Makes Three (that album its on is one I've listened to more times than I can count) so I think I really just liked the line it's from a lot:
Highway Apostles, take me in your arms,
Living in these alleys gonna do me some harm,
I'm outside a truck stop talking in tongues,
Sermons to the deaf, selling salvation to the dumb

an ask game for writers to procrastinate working on your WIP(s)
thanks for tagging me @wellbelesbian!
1. 🦈Tell us the name of your/ one of your WIP(s): Basil Pitch's Diary. It's literally my only WIP.
2. 🍄Describe your WIP/one of your WIP(s) in the format of “___ + ___ =___” Bridget Jones's Diary + Carry On = We Love Baz, Just As He Is
3. 🌍What tags or warnings will one of your WIP(s) need if you intend to share it? Internalized homophobia, gaslighting, self-hatred. 😬
4. 🧭An alternative title to one of your WIP(s)? I never considered an alternative title to BPD, but the one that comes to mind now would be a huge spoiler. The alternative title to the next chapter is "I Fortunately Know a Little Magic," which is sassy and snappy (R.I.P. Howard Ashman) but less thematically relevant than the title I chose.
5. ⚠️Which WIP your most likely to finish or update next? Basil Pitch's Diary. Literally every other fic I've ever posted has been while "taking a break" from BPD, which could go on indefinitely if I let it, so I am bound and determined to finish this fucker before starting something else.
6. 💾What is your document of your WIP/ a WIP called? (not the stories actual title but what you’ve saved it as) I have a list for BPD called "Chapter Checklist." It contains subtle insights "Baz is an UNRELIABLE narrator."
7. 🖍Post Any sentence(s) from your WIP. Here's Baz and Dev in ch. 7:
“Will you stay for dinner?”
“Can’t. Dev and I…”
As Niall told me about their plans I grabbed one of the football’s nylon loops and let Rusty tug on it as we walked. It seemed too late for Niall to have a date all the way in London, but what do I know about dates.
“Come with us,” said Niall.
I grimaced. “No thanks. I’ll catch up with Dev when he’s not on molly and climbing down your throat.”
“You don’t ‘catch up’ at Beast Night. You dance.”
“With whom?”
“Men.”
8. ♻️A scrapped idea for your current WIP. I just looked in the trash folder of the BPD Scrivener project and found this note I don't remember writing:
Renée Zellweger would play Baz. People would be skeptical but she’d fucking nail it. Gaining weight for a role? How about growing eight inches, sprouting a happy trail, and joining the legions of undead. (Might as well cast Oscar bait.)
9. 🤔What’s a story you’d love to write but haven’t even started yet? A Watford-era get-together magickal mishap involving animal transformation and beloved children's literature. So, you know. The usual.
10. 🤡How many WIPS are you actively working on? Just the one. @facewithoutheart and I have a secret side project going that involves back-and-forth writing and it's stalled out on me. It's very fun and silly and I plan to return to it when I need a break from some of the angstier parts of BPD.
11. 🛠Is there a scene or anything in the WIP you are struggling with right now? I'm not working on any one BPD scene right now, but trying to map out the rest of the fic in greater detail so that I can roll from one chapter to the next. I was struggling for a couple of weeks with how to make an unavoidable canon plot point emotionally relevant to Baz's arc, but I think I figured it out last night. Phew.
12. ❤️Not a question, just a second Kudos to send. Kudos and tags to @cutestkilla, @thewholelemon, @whatevertheweather, @brilla-brilla-estrellita, @monbons, @onepintobean, @ileadacharmedlife, @ivelovedhimthroughworse, @skeedelvee, @im-gettingby, @imagineacoolusername, @iamamythologicalcreature, @youre-an-apocryphal-concept-223, @rimeswithpurple, @goblindad-emoshit, @facewithoutheart, @artsyunderstudy, @alleycat0306, @erzbethluna, @ebbpettier, @emeryhall, @f-ing-ruthless-baz, @hushed-chorus, @hertragedyconnoisseur, @ionlydrinkhotwater, @ic3-que3n.

part 1
main masterlist
---
Your hope somehow turned into a manifestation, and thankfully, Wilbur got stuck in sickbay--after Grace had dragged him there, of course following a very very long drawn out lecture that he most definitely deserved. You wanted to lay in bed and rot, you didn't want to talk to anyone, speak a single word or even open your eyes. You managed to get away with that for the first half of the day, and you hummed when you felt the bed dip beside you. Your dad was here.
"Kiddo.. how are you feeling?" You open your eyes, watching as his lips curl into a solemn smile.
"I'm not the one with a hangover." Your tone is flat and dry, you could care less for inflection at this moment. You'd rather be left alone to wither away to dust, but your dad is insistent. He isn't going to let go, he'll want to be there for you, and he always has.
"Yeah, well, when he's out of sickbay I'm going to have a talk with him and then his parents," He pats your knee, sighing before looking down and folding his hands in his lap.
"Is he.." Your voice falters as you take a deep breath and curl onto your side, "Will he get in trouble?"
Your dad shrugs, looks over at you and let's a soft smile curl on his lips before speaking, "A bit. He did break curfew, sneak out and consume alcohol. But I do know him, and I know it wasn't his idea. I'm not going to punish him as if it was his idea."
"You know it was- It was them, right?" Your father nods at your inquiry.
"It was obvious that it was, this isn't the first time they've pulled such a thing," he pauses, thinking for a moment, he rubs your hair and then sighs, “I think you should go ahead to breakfast, yeah?”
He stands up, nodding at you, bidding to see you later before leaving the room. You groan in annoyance before standing up and heading to your dorm to change. It doesn't take you longer than a few minutes to do so, not bothering with your hair before shutting your dorm door and hurrying down the stairs.
It's a Saturday morning, at least lucky for you. And perhaps for Wil too. He stays in sickbay and doesn't miss any classes. You don't have any classes to attend and you can just flee back to your room to rot, like you intended to.
Your mind sort of shuts down on the walk over to the cafeteria, numb of thoughts and feelings as your eyes drop carelessly. It's relatively bare of students, which isn't a surprise for eight in the morning on a Saturday, most kids wake up around nine or ten and don't bother to eat until lunchtime.
Unlucky for you, you're a morning bird and so is Andy. So even if you didn't sleep in his and your father's dorm, you'd still wake up to have breakfast with him.
The moment you step into line, grabbing your tray after you sanitized your hands, your mind then fell to thoughts of Wil. Mornings where you'd both stand in line and talking about everything and nothing while grabbing your food and sitting down together. Laughing and smiling and going about your days together. Something you can't quite do now, and you aren't sure if you even want to. Do you even want to be around him?
It's a valid question that you asked yourself, although you're sure in a week you'll have forgiven him and forgotten about last night. But for the moment, you feel more hurt and angry than he's ever made you. Maybe it's the fact he let himself get pressured, or maybe it's that he didn't stop May from kissing him or the words he used when you tried to help him. It was probably a combination of things, but lucky for him you can't seem to be angry at him for long.
Your tray fills up, or at least somewhat. The star hashbrowns and the pancakes shaped as moons seem to be your choice for the morning. You find a seat at your usual place, staring out the large windows and watching students and teachers walk by. Some museum guests too, admiring the newly remodeled Pathfinder. It only took them four or so years to get it fixed, so might as well admire their work.
What feels like miliseconds but was probably minutes passes by, and Andy fits a seat in front of you, smiling softly with almost a hint of sadness to it.
"How are you feeling?" He speaks so gently, like you were a kicked puppy completely incapable of doing anything.
"Why do people keep fucking asking me that? I'm fucking fine," You seethe, and you catch a glimpse of Andy almost flinching and then his mouth curves down into a frown, "Sorry," you mumble the simple apology, looking down and sighing.
"I'm just worried about you, kiddo. Y'know? We all are," He almost reaches forward to rest his hand on yours, but he holds back realizing it may not be the best idea. Words will simply have to do.
"Everyone heard, huh?" you scoff, rolling your eyes at the thought as you mess with your pancakes, not bothering to eat them quite yet.
Andy nods gingerly, "The whole floor probably."
"That's my fault, I shouldn't have provoked a drunk guy," you put down your fork, glancing up at Andy as he gazes at you, worry etched on his features.
"It's no one's fault, okay? It happened and things will be handled accordingly. Your father and I have a meeting with Evan and Cati, and the trainers for that other team. Hopefully we'll come to an agreement on what happened before we get leadership involved," He takes a bite of his own food after speaking, hoping that it'll somehow indirectly encourage you to eat. It's worked before, so why not now?
"Keep dad in check for me, yeah?" A soft smirk plays on your lips at the thought, your dad can be decently protective of his kids and sometimes gets a bit heated. He's a good teacher though, and Ethan is the same way. Cati and Andy have a handful today.
"I'll do my best, lucky for me, he's short and easily containable," He pauses, sucking in a breath as his eyebrows raise, "Mostly."
He keeps quiet for a while, watching you every now and then as you slowly eat your breakfast. Your mind wanders where it shouldn't, dabbling in thoughts that should never see the light of day, but yet they do.
Thoughts and regrets bubble up, swirling together in a dangerous concoction. Maybe you should have just kept your mouth shut. Or perhaps it would've been best if you fought him on going. The mature thing to do is to talk to Wilbur, get it over with and come to a kind agreement. But what you want to do is never speak to him again. You know you're probably being overdramatic. That it isn't worth your breath to ponder over it or be so pissed off about the situation. It wastes more energy than it's worth. Yet you can't help it, you're hurt and you're angry and all you want to do is scream at the moment.
"You should go visit Wilbur, talk to him," Andy finally speaks up, his tray already taken care of and the team's teacher binder set in front of him.
"I don't think it's a good idea," A deep sigh slips past your lips as you chew on a hashbrown you grabbed a moment ago.
"You'll never know if you don't try," He pauses, hesitating and thinking over whatever he has planned to say next, "It may be your last time to see him in person for a while. He's probably going to be suspended."
You weigh the thought in your mind, considering his words and your own thoughts and worries. It takes you a few minutes before you nod, surrendering, "Okay, fine," you let out a gentle breath, playing with your food again.
Andy smiles, nodding before standing up and taking his binder with him. He begins to walk away before stopping beside you, resting his hand on your shoulder to encourage you to meet his eyes. You do.
"I love you, kiddo. Remember that," His lips curve up softly, a warm smile meant for you. The intention meant to solidify his words. He loves you, and you're thankful of that.
"I know," you smile softly, nodding as you keep your gaze up at him, "I love you too."
He nods again, patting your shoulder before walking away and then you're left with your thoughts yet again. Letting them run wild won't do you much good, even if wallowing and rotting seems the most appealing, it isn't the best plan of action. So you take a deep breath, and stand up, walking over to take care of your tray. You run your fingers over the concrete walls, letting your mind numb itself for the walk over to sick bay.
You pray and hope this isn't a bad idea, that Wilbur won't be against seeing you. That he won't view you in the way he seemed to last night. That he'll hear you out for once and perhaps rectify what he messed up. You have responsibility in the matter as well, and you have every plan to apologize yourself. Where you can, at the least.
It's fall now, the chilly air filling your lungs and what leaves have changed now fall from selective trees. Alabama Octobers are like that, selective in its weather and what leaves fall, and what trees turn. But it's nice, it's relaxing and it gives something different even if it's annoying.
You pass underneath the Pathfinder, gazing up at it as you venture through the courtyard it's placed in. There's not many students out today, or at this hour at the least. But a few wander the campus, speaking amongst one another. A few couples make out behind bushes or behind aircraft. You turn into the covered opening, pushing the door open and entering sick bay.
A younger nurse sits at the desk and looks up at you, "What can I do for you, hun?" Her smile is sweet and soft, it's welcoming and she seems decently spry for how early it is.
"I'm here to visit Wilbur Gold?" Your voice lilts at the end, raising in question as you fidget with your fingers.
"He's over there, bunk two," she smiles and nods and you make your way over, knocking on the walls separating the bunk areas.
"Hi," you whisper, eyes glancing down at Wilbur where he sits on the bottom bunk. He looks up at you, eyes widening in a combination of shock and worry.
"Hey," he mumbles in return, putting down the textbook he had in hand and shutting it.
You hold your breath for a moment, mind wandering for a few more seconds as you wonder what to say and then it slips out, "I'm sorry, about last night."
You step into the small bunk room, fingers wringing together and tapping your fingertips together. He shakes his head, a wry laugh let out at your words.
"It's not your fault,"
You stop him short, "but I did antagonize you."
For some reason that you cant quite place, you don't have it in you to be angry, and instead you're just in a state of guilt. You should have stopped him from going, even if it wasn't your job to protect him.
"So? I was the drunk asshole who kissed another girl. I'm sorry, y/n. It's my fault." He pats the spot beside him, pulling his legs up against his chest to make room for you on the small bunk.
You keep quiet, not sure what else to say as you take a seat on the other side of the bunk, keeping your gaze on the wall. Wilbur mirrors your silence, chewing on his lip, his eyes boring into the side of your face.
"I'm only getting a two week suspension," he finally breaks the silence, trying desperately to grasp at something, anything with you.
You nod softly, taking in a deep breath, you turn to him yet don't make eye contact, "Good," you stop again, standing and beginning to walk out.
"I forgive you, but- I need a bit. if that's okay?" You step through the doorway, over the threshold and turn the corner. Wilbur doesn't respond, he just lets the vacant sound of your footsteps retreating out of sickbay.
He doesn't know what he'll do with himself when he's gone, yet he's sure some wallowing will be involved.
You, on the other hand, spend the rest of the day hiding away in the Davidson center. Wilbur is on the other side of campus, packing for his two week suspension back at home. You're sure his parents had a few colorful words for him once they were called and that you were right about. His father had more things to say than his mom, of anything his dad wasn't as aware as her on how susceptible Wilbur could be to peer pressure. Wil wasn't sure if his dad even knew him anymore, and sometimes you wonder if you would have felt the same, if your dad hadn't adopted you. Maybe Charlie feels that way.
You kept to yourself for the following two weeks, talking with your sister and some of your friends but mostly keeping to yourself. You spend so much time to yourself that you're ahead with your work, which isn't too out of the picture since you mostly are on track but with the extra time to yourself; you get ahead.
As usual, your dad is proud of you, showing that outwardly but also keeping his worries to himself, watching you closely and almost acting as if you'll break if he breathes too hard. And maybe you will, you're not even sure yourself.
Sometimes you feel like a live fuse, ready to burn and implode, but other times you just feel numb, unsure on how to process things. Yet as the day he comes back crawls closer, you find yourself growing at peace with your situation, still missing him but almost forgiving him through his absence. You kept in contact with him, but it was far and few between given your schedule with school and him sort of being a bit grounded. He did explain that was his father's doing, it made sense to you how it was.
You woke up that morning, reaching for your phone just to see the excited messages he left for you. How he was finally looking forward to seeing you again, and the plans he had for you both.
You knew he had apologies attached and that he only wanted to mutter them in person, for that, you were thankful.
You managed to go about your day quietly, tidying up your bunk before heading over to the library on campus, returning a few books you borrowed for a project, and then walking back over to the main museum. Wandering through the halls and exhibits, admiring them as if you don't pass by them hundreds of times a day. It kept your mind off everything.
Somewhere between them and now, you'd walked back to your dorm, turning into the room only to see Wilbur unpacking. You stop in the doorway, watching him make his bunk and put away his bags.
"Hey, Wil," you finally speak up, greeting him and he immediately turns to face you, smiling happily at you.
"Hey," he whispers, walking over to you and offering a hug, which you gratefully take, falling into his arms and hugging him tightly around his waist.
"I'm glad you're back," you mumble against his chest, holding yourself tighter against him, reveling in his warmth; something you didnt realize you missed so much.
"Me too," he breathes, kissing your cheek before pulling back to look down at you, "I'm sorry, genuinely. I shouldn't have let her kiss me, and I sure as hell shouldn't have snapped at you how I did. You didn't deserve any of that, and so I'm sorry."
a small smile creeps up on your lips as he speaks, rambling at a speed faster than what should be humanly possible. so once he takes a breath, you lean up to press your lips to his, letting his mold to yours as you kiss one another, the exchange beginning to build in tension. he holds his hands on your hips, pulling you flush against him as you reach your fingers to sift through the curls on the back of his head. soft whimpers and hums are shared between your mouths, his grip getting tighter as you lift yourself higher on your toes.
you take a few more moments before you both decide to break for breath, eyes meeting before you both smile and laugh, "so, am I forgiven?" he whispers against your lips, pressing a kiss to the corner of your mouth before swiping his thumbs over your hip bones.
"mmm.. yeah, I think so," you giggle, standing back flat on your feet before you begin to tug him towards the door.
"where are you taking me?" he speaks through soft laughs, quite happy with how things turned out, even if he got his ass handed to him.
"our spot."
he smiles at the mention, nodding as you drag him away; most likely to make out. regardless, you're both happy with how things turned out and are sure to move forward from here. you forgave him, so all that needs to happen is for him to forgive himself.

TxT Personality Off Camera
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(If anyone has any request lemme knowww, cause I'm out of ideas🥲)
.
.
.
Soobin
Cards pulled out: queen of wands, the empress, seven of cups and the fool
So even off camera he is helpful, he helps others, he's confident organizing a lot, a little hot tempered at times, but still quiet, not shy quiet more like confident and still quiet, he watches what to say and not to say. Ja and he does a lot off camera, accomplishing his stuff ect ect.
Ja very nurturing, creative, harmonious.
I think he has a lot of options and shit bit off camera even though he does a lot he procrastinates a lot and a little lazy, tbh I don't blame him, he takes on so many responsibilities he should give himself a break. He also is a little careless off camera, not in a bad way, but super sweet, calm and innocent energy, chill innocent energy
But overall he seems the same just a little more relaxed and chilling.
Love him.
.
.
.
.
.
Yeonjun
Cards pulled out: ace of wands, seven of pentacles, eight of swords and the fool card
Okay so tbh I feel like off camera he still is spontaneous and has his creative spark and likes a challenge, but then he stops himself and really thinks about it and is like, "is this a good idea?" He doubts himself a lot, he feels trapped a lot too. I'm guessing mostly because he's an idol and if he's caught outside doing normal things he might get into trouble. But in general off camera his doubts and fears come to him, shame mann🥺. But off camera he still is careless like Soobin, cuteee.
Anyways yarrr
.
.
.
.
.
.
Beomgyu
Cards pulled out: ace of swords reversed, four of pentacles, eight of cups reversed, seven of wands, two of swords reversed.
Okay damn beomgyu-
So uh, he gets into a lot of arguments off camera maybe with members, he gets frustrated a lot, he also gets his creative side blocked away, he has a lack of emotional maturity and he's very stingy, he holds onto people, things, money, ect ect.
He has a fear of commitment and a fear of moving on. I don't know why though, probably because of the past. Very ja hot headed but also detached at the same time and cold.
Very indecisive and lots of anxiety and fears that get to him. But he's holding onto it, he doesn't want to move away from it. But he still stands up for himself and his beliefs, very like controlling on a way.
Damn okay he has issues, but ay we have to have hope it will get better.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Taehyun
Cards pulled out: nine of pentacles, knight of cups reversed, ace of cups and the devil.
Oh damn.
So Taehyun is still independent off camera and whatever whatever, but he's a heartbreaker-, I think he has a lot of one night stands off camera. I think he tricks people tbh, like "hey you're cute I wanna date", but onky gets in bed with them. That's sad lmao.
He has a lot of issues with addictions maybe obsession on something. Him and Beomgyu seem a little similar ngl. Anyways he gives me a little bit of sad, drunk, dad vibes. A little violent ngl. Abusive in idk what way but ja. Thats just sad. Really sad. Idk
Damn.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Huening Kai
Cards pulled out:page of pentacles reversed, ten of cups reversed, knight of swords and four of cups.
Okay so his head isn't in the head place. He's a little foolish and rebellious in some type of way idk what way. He doesn't take advantage of good opportunities given to him. A little irresponsible. He's having a lot of family issues he's keeping a secret. He acts talkative and shit. Still rebellious and curious but not.
But he's not okay, he's depressed, but ja, that's sad. Idk probs cause of family issues and that he isn't looking at a situation in all types of ways and not his negative way. But ja shame man.
Aye his head really isn't in the right space and he's also trynna be a perfectionist
Damn these are depressing.
.
.
Hope you all enjoyed reading those, I didn't 🥲😭. Anyways byeeeee

We're back with Strike Force Five episode two, which seems to have randomly dropped at some point after I went to bed on Saturday. I enjoy when podcasts just randomly drop episodes, honestly, makes the whole thing feel more authentically chaotic.
I started listening to this while trying to figure out how to draft for fantasy football. I am not a football fan. I don't follow football. I don't know how to do fantasy. I very much procrastinated on that by doing these notes. My team is graded C- by Yahoo btw, which is two full grades higher than I expected.
Tumblr media
Notes under the cut y'all.
This episode opens with Fallon talking about how he forgot his show's shirts glow in the dark. Apparently Billy Crystal tried to sleep in one recently and discovered this; John also noted a time when he was trying to get his infant son to sleep while wearing one of Fallon's shirts and saying it glowed "too well".
The audience for this podcast is obviously 30-something office drones like me. I say this because Atlassian is now running ads during the podcast. They must sense that everyone listening to this has it open in tab one while having their task-overrun Jira boards open in tabs two through five. John also completely "ruins" this ad - which was very on the rails for a decent amount of time! - by suggesting that Atlassian sounds like "one of those plans G. Gordon Liddy had to relect Nixon". Fallon also claims Atlassian is the name of his Fortnite character. (I wonder how my boss feels about both of those lol)
Everyone opens by briefly talking about how many staff they have. Stephen has 210, Kimmel has about 180 + 13 writers + a bunch of crew, Fallon thinks he has 305, and John jokingly says he has 500 people before admitting he misses his legal and research staff. He's ready to say things he thinks are true, instead of "things that are legally defensible".
Stephen: "Would you guys be okay if I had a little Casamigos, I got a bottle right here...?" John: "It's 7:30 in the morning, why not?" Seth: "That's like a 24 ounce 7-11 cup..." I'm so glad this is all in an auditory medium.
John is going to continue shitting on whatever alcohol company he shat on last week, and called it "pond water". I am guessing it's somehow related to Bud Light but that doesn't really track with tequila advertising, so who knows. I have in a past life had Bud Light Margarita in a Bag once, maybe John also suffered that unique hell.
If it IS Bud Light John is talking about, I have no idea how Stephen talking about Budweiser wanting him to be the voice for a Budweiser energy drink/caffeinated beer called B to the E/B 2 the E didn't get cut. This was in about 2001-2002, so well before Four Loko, and the ad copy contained things like "your friends are heading home AND YOU'RE JUST GETTING STARTED!" (John is quietly dying in the background the entire fucking time before Googling if it ever came out. It did! Fallon is flatly like "that's illegal" in a completely baffled tone early on.)
We are 8 minutes into an hour-long podcast. Just informing you, in case you were wondering. Why yes I am obsessed/bad at football why do you ask
Kimmel insists that his early seasons - "for the first eight to eleven years" - were the worst of anyone's on the podcast. He said this after talking about, on his show, Mr. T and Jim Belushi hating each other and almost about to fight each other, his cousin doing pillow-fights early on and causing a catastrophe one episode by fighting Lennox Lewis culminating with Anna Nicole Smith falling into a cake, and another pillow fight with Tom Arnold ruining his suede jacket. I forget that Kimmel is partially of the Jerry Springer era, if not on his late-night show then from his other work, and this just really reminded me of that.
Mariah Carey wanted to be interviewed by Seth Meyers during Christmas in a functional sleigh. John tells a story about watching Watch What Happens Live where Andy Cohen, on live TV by himself, said that Mariah Carey was in the building but would not sit on the side where guests usually sit on his show and was desperately trying to fill time. Mariah seems fun.
youtube
If I had to imagine Hell for Stephen Colbert, it would be "having to fill in for a guest on The Daily Show and turning down an advanced screening of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring". That scenario seems tailor-made to completely destroy him.
I'm glad I remember that Ben and Jerry bit Stephen and Fallon are talking about. I would love to know what this whole explanation sounds like to someone who does not remember the whole "best friends" late night "wars" of the time. Here's the bit btw. (Your daily reminder that the CC website sucks ass.)
I forgot Fallon started his show two weeks before Seth. I must have completely blanked out how quickly all of those hosts changed in 2014 (and then John starting the same year).
I'm with John on this one, "Allen key" makes waaaaaay more sense than "Allen wrench". It's a fucking key! The amount of shit I've had to put together with those goddamn things, it's not a wrench at ALL.
One thing I learned today: chairs are very serious business for most of the hosts. Fallon keeps a chair backstage to see how someone will look in chairs on the set, and to confirm that's okay with the guests. Seth, meanwhile, had chairs that John feel like he was being interviewed to be on Seth's show. And Stephen has all different sizes of chairs, to make everyone feel comfortable when they're on the show. (This is where things go predictably off the rails, as Seth then claims he has chairs that get smaller and smaller to keep guests on their toes.)
John's guest are was the most expensive part of his set, and they never used it. Somehow that doesn't surprise me. I was shocked they have a guest booker, though. (Stephen: "Wow what a cushy gig!")
Kimmel's live show ceased being live when Thomas Jane said "fuck" nineteen times on air and affiliates/censors were mad. Apparently on network you CAN technically say anything past ten p.m., according to Kimmel, but that's not the reality of the situation.
Seth: "People forget about the early 2000s. If you were a sports fan, you would often say, 'I wonder who won the big game... let's watch the Kimmel monologue.'" This is exactly what the 2000s were like, kids.
Seth and Fallon both were told by SNL showrunner Lorne Michaels that it would take them 18 months to get comfortable with their shows and figure out how to use them. Seth definitely felt that was wrong and he'd only take 6 months... but the first time he started the show from behind his desk was almost 18 months to the day from his first episode.
Stephen has an unaired 3-minute opening credits sequence that he wants to show on his last episode if possible. John also had a longer title sequence that he loved, but that his producer said he'd be constantly going over for time and he'd need to cut it down, lest he get continually furious over not having enough time for his actual show.
Fallon talks about how his first interview was with notoriously reticent and quiet Robert DeNiro, who gave Fallon one-word answers for literally everything. John asks if anyone told him he was starting from a high difficulty degree, but is interrupted by Stephen remembering a Space Train sketch in the middle of Fallon's interview featuring DeNiro.
Stephen remembers more about Fallon's show than Fallon does, which is wild. Stephen probably remembers more about everyone's show than they do, based on the first two episodes.
Stephen calling The Colbert Report "a totally different beast and maybe doesn't even fit in this conversation" made me sad. Tell me all the Report gossip!!!
Stephen telling the story of how he made the Public Access Show for Monroe, Michigan prior to doing late night is incredible. I remember watching him and Eminem do that show the day the internet became aware of it, and it is just a fascinating bit of transitional Colbert work. Also, had no idea they took over a real show... or that they got almost 0 viewers for it, lol. Here's the link to the bit, for your viewing pleasure:
youtube
Fallon must realize that John has said literally nothing for a while, because he asks how the first episode of Last Week Tonight went. John actually talks about hosting The Daily Show for three months. He says he'd never interviewed anyone before then (I'm guessing he means that as in "I've never interviewed someone seriously and with the eye of not taking the piss out of them", because he'd done MANY filmed interviews for correspondent pieces before then) and talks about the episode where the power was cut. They taped the episode on a camcorder and had to feed it to Comedy Central through Stephen's office.
Stephen then talks about how his first episode almost doesn't make it to air because it couldn't be exported from Avid. Everyone in the editing bay insists this is fine, and it did end up being fine, but the contrast between how CBS editing works and John having to go to another office to feed a show to Comedy Central is so interesting.
Stephen also kicked down a door after this. Please enjoy this mental image, you freaks.
John and Stephen sharing a bitter laugh over John's joke about Les Moonves in the background is fantastic.
John is the first person to bring up that Ryan Reynolds turned around Wrexham the team AND the city. I really should watch that show.
We now return to Last Week Tonight, which lawyers refused to allow to be live. (Knowing John's comedic sensibilities, I completely understand Legal's stance.) He acknowledges that they had too many ideas going together in the first episodes, including a pre-taped guest. The big thing they learned was that they were doing one show a week, which lead to research coming in throughout the week that undermined their segments, rewriting whole shows on Thursday, and the realization that doing the show that way was completely unsustainable. Having watched those early episodes recently (and I promise I'm still doing that in the background), this context totally explains the franticness and weird pacing early on. Of course things feel more didactic and surface level - they were writing full episodes in two days! The show completely restaffed and changed after year one, and John's "bones were as hollow as a sparrow". He also knew that anyone who didn't like episode one was going to hate episode two, because it was about the death penalty.
Seth's first guests were Amy Poehler and Joe Biden, because they'd been on Parks and Rec together and Biden gladly accepted being after Amy.
Seth's misplaced confidence in his pink eye sketch is very relatable.
Fallon texting everyone that he is basically dying of heat stroke in his room and is trying to leave to save himself is hilarious. Poor Jimmy, he's suffering and getting clowned so hard for it. AND THEN Stephen talks about the opening of Fallon's first episode and all the change he dumped on his desk and him. And Fallon had to run up to the roof with change falling out of his clothes. Again, all this while Fallon is having a heat episode. As John says, "we should rename this 'Asphyxiating Jimmy Fallon'."
Fallon is also vaguely losing his mind and forgets he can talk on a podcast, because he keeps texting the others his thoughts.
They actually address the hosting schedule! Next episode, Stephen is hosting. After that, it's John (I'm excited for the inevitable LMFAO retrospective and/or extensive discussion of penii on rooves), then "James Theodore Fallon".
Thank you for reading this ABSOLUTELY MASSIVE BLOCK OF TEXT I'm so sorry that this is apparently my niche right now, thousands of words on a 45 min to 1 hr podcast featuring five white guys. One day the John pictures will again outnumber my blatherings, I promise.

Life Stuff
So I’ve been struggling with motivation and time lately, between college finals and a sharp decline in my mental health. I know I made it sound like everything was going great in the last update, and it was, but then it wasn't, and then it was again.. and the back and forth has just been exhausting, not to mention time-consuming.
I was supposed to have a little surprise sneak peek for you all on Monday, but when I went into my planning document to retrieve the scene I had written for a future chapter, it was gone. When I checked the revision history of the document, all the versions from last month to December 2022 are missing---nearly a year's worth. It seems like all the edits within that year's time have been lost. Thankfully, I had all the basic planning for the story done before that year of edits that got deleted, but I still lost all of my newer edits. I'm still so perplexed about how this could have happened, and it's causing me a lot of distress, especially because at this point I'm not even sure exactly what I've lost. The whole point of that document was so that I could write down an idea and then forget about it until I needed it again to clear up space in my head for new ideas.
It's also finals week, so I have that going for me, too. I'm not planning on having time for any work on TPWCH until after my last final of December 6th.
Poll Details
Even then, I've been having problems with motivation lately. Winter break should be a good rest for me, but I still worry about how much I'll be able to write. The other day, I got an idea for a Squidmas special. While in the TPWCH universe, it would take us to different time periods, allowing us to finally meet all of the prequel and sequel characters I've been teasing (including Three's old friend group and Tsuku's friend group). It would essentially be set in the future but with an extended flashback to Three's childhood. And we get to see Three and Eight as parents! (And maybe even some others?) 👀 I'm so excited to share these new characters with you, and that excitement might just be the extra little push I need to get myself motivated again.
Or, with all the extra time I have, I should be able to stop procrastinating and finally get a good start of Chapter #22-Part2. Ultimately, I'm going to make my own decision on whether to write the Squidmas special or not, but I'd still like to hear your input!
I also haven't forgotten about other promises I've made having to do with TPWCH--like more development of the Dark Three AU, the 300-kudos bonus, the Part 3 cover, etc. Just working slowly. Thank you as always for your patience and understanding!

For the fanfic writer ask game:
♥️👻📗
Nikiiiii, my love, it's so good to see you here! <333
❤️ What is your favorite line that you’ve written in a fic?
So, this one's tough. Not because I have the hands of Midas, but because I simply... Have no idea? I did skim through metanoia, though, because if that's where the good stuff is, and I found a few because I'm physically unable to choose just one I really liked, two of which are quote quotes
“I gave him the power he thinks he has now, and by not agreeing on meeting with him we’re just proving his point: that he has something, that he’s worth something. I’d rather die than give him the satisfaction.”
That night was not for deep, belly laughs. That night was for healing what others had broken. To build anew.
while the third is more of a context quote
What caught her attention the most, tho, had been the fact that Rhysand had been ready to put so much of himself, of what he’d been through, at stake. For her. Nesta shifted in her seat, not stomaching the starlight violet any longer. She felt Night caressing her mental shields, purring, asking to get in. She let it. You’re worth the risks. She turned, the bones in her neck cracking with the fast motion, and stared speechless at Rhysand. She’d let him in her mind, yet the voice wasn’t there. He’d said those words out loud, had made sure the stars heard them too.
👻 What is your wildest headcanon?
I answered this one here, bUT I'll give you another one, which is also a spoiler for a possible future multi-chapter fanfic I've been thinking about for a while and recently I'm entertaining the idea of actually try to write it? We'll see. Anyway I have this idea that the Valkyries (well, Nesta, at least, since she's the one who's part of the Inner Circle) will "give up" their citizenship? And they're not members of the Night Court anymore? Or they're just a private citizen like any other? I still have to think this trough, but they're going to do all that because they are going to tour around Prythian to recruit and train more females and officially revive The Valkyries, and make them an army for the people: basically, there will be a base in every Court and legions/battalions for each, but overall they don't belong to a single Court but rather all of them, but really, if you think about it, none at all. They're like an independent army, the "neutral party" which will not stay so neutral if things get dirty. They'll stand for equality and freedom, they'll protect the innocents, and by not "legally" belonging to any Court they won't have a High Lord or High Lady that can order them around and such, so they'll be like an Eight Court of sorts without really being a Court at all. Does this make sense?
📗 Do you want to write something outside of fanfiction? If so, what about?
Oh bestie I'm so happy you asked this because y e s. Yes. Yes, I do. And I am completely cool about it. Not acting weird at all.
I'm almost done with the first draft of this personal project of mine that I've been working on and off for the past ..year..s? But I keep procrastinating so I've been "-10 chapters!!" for the past week, but still. To keep things sweet and short, I'll make you a list, because we love lists on this blog:
Crown of Thorns (4): (high?) fantasy; reluctant found family where each and every one of them is "in it" for their own personal gaining, but what started as a shallow "they took my crown from me so now I'll take it back because I can? and because I'm petty and hold grudges" will turn into "I have to stop the Lord of Darkness from coming back from the dead and destroy the world as we know it, and maybe start a revolution while I'm at it". It's messy, and sometimes I think I won't be able to pull this off the way I intended to (good intentions, bad delivery, you know?) so don't ask me to tell you more than this because I really don't know how without spoiling the entire thing;
Cursed Goddes/Blessed God (2): CoT spin-off that is actually a prequel and kind of explains/shows the events that led society to become the way it is in CoT and yes, I really did dig my own grave with this whole series, but now I'm in too deep to stop so down we go;
Kill Your Darlings (1): dark academia-ish, paranormal vibes and a hint of mystery, too? Think House of Anubis, but everyone is gay and mentally ill. That's it, that's the plot.
The Haven Island series (3): contemporary romance, interconnected standalones following a group of friends navigating life in their 20s, where every story is meant to represent a different aspect of girlhood/womanhood (aka toxic/abusive relationships, motherhood, sexism and mysoginy, etc.)
I'd also like to write something in the dystopian sub-genre, because who doesn't love that feeling of impending and unavoidable doom? But I have absolutely nothing in my hands if not some sort of relationship dynamics that for the sake of logic and coherency I had to cut out from the CoT plot, so, yeah, we're really basing it all on vibes at this point
Ask me a question!

i was having a conversation with the amazing @juliettefarbrooke-sso last night and realized that besides the occasional headcanon, i've never actually formally introduced daryl! so here she is:
Tumblr media
her in-game name is daryl ravenhunter, but i just separate the last two so she has a middle name instead of a too-long last name. she has blueish-grey eyes, pale skin that burns easily, and brown hair that she takes really bad care of - it's choppy at the ends, and after she befriends anne, she's usually shamed into tying it some way it's not really noticeable, hence the braid. she's really bony, and every single angle of her body is super sharp.
the horse pictured is laverna, one of the two horses she tends to ride when she's not with her soul horse, royal, who accompanies her on all her soul rider missions. the other is a grey akhal-teke named skyjumper.
she prefers plain, solid colours, and green is a general favourite. she gets cold super easily, so she usually has a sweater or hoodie pulled on top of a skirt (which she believes gives easier mobility) and leggings. she always has riding boots on, and usually a baseball cap or beanie in the winter.
with unwavering pessimism and yet almost unrealistic expectations, daryl can be full of contradictions. a generally cold and bitter girl, she keeps a stony mask to hide the fact that she feels most emotions a lot harder than the average person. because of her cynical view of others, she can easily see through the falsity of social interactions. although a helpful trait, mixed in with her personality it means that she has no patience for pleasantries whatsoever, but does wish for social interaction with people who share her blunt honesty and values. rational, independent and stubborn, daryl forms opinions and doesn’t let go of them. still, she’s open to new, original ideas, and can get really creative from the tactical perspective.
the general outline of her backstory (although i have a very specific timeline because this is what i do when i'm procrastinating something important) goes something like - she's born in jorvik city. after her mother dies in a car crash when she's eight, she grows reserved and her father too busy to try and fix that. in an effort to get her more friends when he has to leave on a business trip to norway when she's around sixteen, he sends her to moorland for horse camp.
the rest is pretty universal for sso mcs, i think! information about her powers and relationship with aideen can be found here and here!

❗️‼️⁉️
Thanks for the asks, Ren! (Also, very aesthetically pleasing that you chose all the punctuation ones.)
From the Behind the Scenes Asks
❗"how many WIPs do you have?"
*counts on fingers* Let's see...I have three fanfic projects. The Apophenia/Phagophobia rewrite. The Primrose Path. Then like three fragments of Beyond & Between stories. And I'm not even counting all the rough draft stories I haven't cracked open in years, like XIII, or Eye of the Maelstrom, or Sunsworn.
Let's say eight. Eight is enough, right?
‼️"what has stayed consistent across all drafts?"
For Apophenia, tormenting Isaac at every opportunity, and making sure he has plenty of emotional baggage to lug around. Likewise, Renato being sexy a total bastard to him on top of everything else.
The necromantic goo monsters made the cut, as did the post-climate-apocalypse Earth setting. World building on the fly (though not as much). I guess there's also a typical urban fantasy rhythm to the way the story progresses, where you get introduced to quirky/dangerous characters, and you alternate between action and calmer world building/character development scenes.
I don't have too much trouble cutting or changing huge sections of the story around. Not because I learned to "kill my darlings" or anything. More just because I enjoy banging the characters together like I'm playing dolls, regardless of what plot or setting I come up with for them.
⁉️"what do you do when stuck on a scene?"
Procrastinate until I figure it out, mostly.
I mean, I know it's one of three things holding me up. A) I just don't know where a scene is headed, B) I do know how the scene ends but haven't figured out how to get there, or C) a character's making a choice that affects the rest of the story and I have to run all the possibilities through my head before I settle on one. I will, occasionally, talk it out with someone or scribble scenario ideas on paper, which usually helps get things moving again.
This is why I'm trying to outline before seriously attempting the Apophenia rewrite again. In the hopes that I'll answer these questions before investing energy in writing the prose. It's entirely possible that a new idea may hit me even after doing a complete outline...but I'll deal with that problem when it pops up.

Oh my god yes please do an adoption scenario 😭
your wish, my command 😁 *Vi attempts fancy hand flourish and falls on her face, somehow*
Constantine
You watch Constantine for a moment, as he bounces from one foot to the other. You haven't seen him this excited in a while. A chuckle leaves your lips. He stops and turns his gaze to you, a small smile tugging at his lips. "What are you chuckling about?"
"Oh, nothing," you tell him. "You're just adorable when you're like this?"
He scoffs playfully. "Adorable? Save that phrase for our kid." Despite the fact that you stand in front of the orphanage, his words stun you for a moment. And he takes full advantage by grabbing your hand and leading you into the building.
You spend the next few hours talking to many of the children, even playing some games, or reading to some of them. At some point, you've gotten separated from Constantine so you search for him.
And you find him with a six-year-old boy. He's using toy swords to teach him defensive techniques. You shake your head, laughing quietly to yourself. After a few minutes, you clear your throat. They both look over at you before stopping. As you walk over, the boy glances at you nervously and then back to Constantine.
Constantine crouches down and offers a soothing smile to the child. 'Why don't you head inside and play with some of the other kids?" The boy nods and gives you both a polite goodbye, looking over his shoulder with hopeful eyes before ducking down and hurrying inside.
You sigh. "I thought you wanted a baby."
Constantine rubs the back of his neck. "Well," he begins, eyes darting around the little garden. "I mean, babies are a lot of work! A child who talks? And walks? That seems like a good idea to me."
You snort. "Be honest. Those sad eyes and that sweet voice won you over."
His blue eyes turn to you. "I'm a goner."
You can't help but smile as you sling your arm around him and steer him toward the door. "Let's go adopt your adorable protégé, then."
Constantine smiles softly and kisses your wrist. "Ours."
"What?" you ask.
"He's our protégé, my love."
Felix
You study Felix carefully, watching him try to control his breathing. When he realizes you're watching, he sends you a smirk. "Can't keep your eyes off me, huh?"
But you can hear the nervousness in his voice. He's trying to pretend that he's not freaking out. You reach out and squeeze his hand. "Are you sure you want to do this? I understand if not."
His hazel eyes soften as he pulls you closer. "I'd walk through fire for you. Adopting a child with you? Walk in the park."
You roll your eyes but grin. "Famous last words, Mr. Faramund."
"Well, I am hot enough to be famous." He winks at you. "Come on, let's go find a cute little ray of sunshine to adopt." You laugh as you walk into the orphanage by his side.
Almost immediately, Felix zeroes in on an older kid alone in the corner of the room. You nudge him and he finally glances away. "Why don't we start with them?" His only response is a nod, but his feet don't move. You sigh.
And then you give him a push, and he looks over his shoulder, glaring at you with a mischievous look in his eyes. "Already setting a bad example for children," he tells you.
"Stop procrastinating and move it!" His eyes widen at your tone and he speed walks to the child with you hot on his heels.
You both come to a stop. Felix and the child stare at each other, neither willing to speak first. "Felix," you hiss under your breath.
He clears his throat. "Hi."
They raise an eyebrow. "Uh, hey?"
You resist the urge to groan. Instead, you ask, "How old are you?"
The kid looks away, out at the other children who are seemingly younger. "Thirteen," they say quietly.
"And how long have you been here?" Felix inquires, seeming to find his voice with your help.
The kid turns to Felix and looks him dead in the eye. "I don't know. Eight years I think."
Felix frowns. "Be back in a minute," he tells them, grabbing your arm and leading you far away.
You raise an eyebrow and cross your arms. "You're acting weird."
He looks at you, his face as serious as you've ever seen it. "I want to adopt them."
You give him a confused look. "We barely know their age, let alone anything else about them. Besides, they're already thirteen."
He nods. "Exactly. The older they get, the less chance of someone adopting them. But older kids deserve love, too!" Then his face turns desperate. "Please, MC!"
"And what if they turn out to be troublesome?" you ask him.
"Then they'll be our troublesome kid that we love."
You smile and let out a dramatic sigh. "Beg a little more first," you tell him. He rolls his eyes but grins at you in a way that makes your heart pound so quickly that you can feel your racing pulse through your body.
Margaret
"Remember what we said," you tell Margaret, looking over at her as you both walk into the building. "We're only adopting one for now."
Margaret sighs and gives you a pointed look. "Yes, yes, darling, I know." When you arrive in the room where many children are playing and running around, Margaret stops and scans the room, her eyes widening in wonder. She looks at you and asks, "But we can come back soon, right? There's so many that need a home."
"Stay focused," you tell her, laughing a little at the pout on her face. At some point in the day, you both end up in the room with the youngest children. Your eyes find a young child, no more than three years old.
They tilt their head and stare at you before turning away. As you walk closer, they turn back, a small teddy bear in their hands. You glance at Margaret and see softness in her eyes.
"Hi, there, little one," Margaret says as she sits beside the child.
They give her a toothy grin. "Hello!"
You both grin back and then you point at their stuffed animal. "Who's that?"
They look down at the bear for a moment and then back up, tears in their eyes. "My friend Teddy." The child tries to push the bear into Margaret's hands.
"Oh!" she says, startled. "You want me to hold Teddy for a minute?"
The child shakes their head and looks down. "No. Take him away from here when you leave. It's too sad for him to be here."
You're pretty sure you see Margaret turn away with a few tears in her eyes. When she turns back to the child, she says, "Here, you hold Teddy for now. We'll be back."
She watches the child from afar. You put a hand on her arm. "Hey, tell me what you're thinking."
Her brown eyes turn to you. "I'm thinking about how sweet that child is. And trying to figure out how to convince you that we should adopt them." She studies you carefully, waiting for your reaction.
"They are very sweet," you muse. "Maybe too sweet for some of your lessons."
Margaret scoffs. "Your wrong, darling. That little one is perfect. It's always better if people don't know how deadly you can be."
"Alright, well, we're adopting two like you wanted, then. I mean, we can't leave Teddy behind."
She giggles. "Of course not!"
F
Sweat rolls down the back of F's neck as they walk into the orphanage. You've had a long talk. Several of them. And although they're nervous, they also believe that the two of you can raise a lovely child together. When you first brought it up, they asked for some time to consider. And now, a year later, here you are.
You grab F's hand and give it a gentle squeeze. They smile at you before looking around. "Where do we start?" they ask, feeling overwhelmed by the chaos and noise all around.
"Let's go someplace quieter. I bet the babies are sleeping this time of day."
F laughs to themself. "Never heard of a baby being quiet, but I'll follow your lead."
The room you enter has dozens of babies. "So many," you say quietly.
F nods. "The aftermath of a long war."
Before you can respond, they bend over the crib of a baby girl and scoop her up. You can see their green eyes light up as they look at the child.
You run your fingers across the tag on the crib. "It says she's six months old," you note.
"Isn't she lovely?" their quiet voice asks.
The baby girl opens her eyes and looks at you, her tiny hand wraps around one of your fingers. You meet F's gaze and smile.
A while later, the baby now asleep in F's arms, they turn to you. "What do you think? Should we adopt her?"
You watch the baby sleep for a moment. "I don't know. Babies are a lot of work."
"But we'll be doing it together." They come to stand beside you at the window and lean their head on your shoulder. "Besides, you're my moon, and she can be our little sun."
"Well, how could I say no to that?" F leans away and grins at you.

Tumblr media
[stargirl interlude — the weeknd]
"i just wanna see you shine cause i know you are a star girl"
1:15 ────────•───── 1:51
prologue —
jean kirstein::
aries ♈︎ || nineteen || 6'4 || sophomore in college
overall character:
energetic and extroverted, but tries to conceal it because he thinks it's embarrassing. he's very popular since he's a football player, but he isn't an asshole like most. has had quite a few girlfriends and is known to be a flirt. when he likes someone he's not afraid to show it whether it be physically or verbally. cares deeply for his friends especially sasha, marco, and connie. really close to his mom and would do anything for her. doesn't know much of his father and doesn't care about him, the only thing he knows is that his father is a spaniard [ew]. knows how to play drumset, a hobby he picked up in his early teens, it also helps him blow off steam when he's angry. seems self-centered but isn't. he is very thoughtful and thinks about others before himself. he's a bit cocky but has good reason to be since he's good at everything he does. he does have a few flaws. when he's angry he says things without giving them thought and refuses to listen to the other person. he can take things for granted and doesn't realize it until it's too late. he also gets jealous quickly and gets slightly possessive because of it. his relationships are always short because the moment it feels unstable he leaves to protect his feelings.
DISCLAIMER:
i don’t know when i’ll actually start writing the first chapter of this book since i’m writing a eren x latina!reader right now. i want to focus on that one until i’m at least eight chapters in. but i wanted to get a little prologue out because everyone seemed static when i announced it on tiktok. i already have a rough idea of how this story is going to play out so i can’t wait to write it!! sorry y’all will have to wait, but im the biggest procrastinator and if i try to work on two fics at the same time i’ll never get anything done. i promise the wait will be worth it!! also, my eren fanfic is a slight!jean x latina!reader as well, so go read if you’d like to see some jean action. i’m actually basing the jean in this fanfic off the one in my eren fanfic!! (:
i wanted to say that i don't want to surround y/n's character & personality around the fact that they're latine. the reason i'm saying this is because i want to try to be inclusive to all latine when writing this. i'm from central america so automatically any slang i use will be slang that's used mainly in central american countries. now imagine if i revolve y/n's character/personality around the fact that they're latine...it won't really be inclusive. you feel me? when i thought about writing this, it was more of a self-insert, and it still kinda is, but the only parts i will be using from my life are the universal experiences that i think most, if not all, latine go through. latine generational trauma is no joke and i want to be able to incorporate that into this story, the insecurities, family issues, the difference between latine parents and their american born/raised children, etc. there will be spanish dialogue and food, and all that jazz, but it won't be to an extreme. i also want latine who feel like they're not in touch with their culture to be able to enjoy this story, you feel me? the point is, y/n will not be a full-blown ranchera, catracha, etc, but they won't be a "no sabo", as people like to say.
also, even though this is specifically for a latina!reader, anyone can enjoy this story! but please, DO NOT make ignorant comments, use slurs, etc if you're not latine!
i will say some of what i write will be inspired by other jean fanfics, i've read many, but i will ALWAYS credit the author at the beginning of a chapter if i use any ideas from their work. if it ever seems that i have stolen an idea, please let me know ASAP, it could be a coincidence that i have the same idea [in the case that i haven't read their work] or i could've forgotten to credit them, either way, let me know!
reminders!
— angst & smut will be included. okay, i've never written smut before so please don't be too mad if it isn't the best at first, i promise i'll get better!!
NONE OF THE ATTACK ON TITAN CHARACTERS BELONG TO ME, THEY BELONG TO HAJIME ISAYAMA. ONLY THE PLOT OF THIS STORY & ANY OCs I POTENTIALLY CREATE BELONG TO ME.
story will contain drug use, alcohol use, & sexual content. sensitive topics WILL be spoken about [i will ALWAYS put a trigger warning at the beginning of chapter if deemed necessary], characters are 18+, & strong language will be used.
related!
this story will be posted to wattpad, archive of our own, & tumblr! this story will not be posted anywhere else unless annouced by me! if you see my story posted elsewhere please let me know asap. all my accounts have the same user, 222eren, if you see a different user posting my story on any above-mentioned platform please let me know.
i made a pinterest board 4 this fanfic! it's what i personally envision the aesthetic to be, but that's just me, if you don't like it just ignore it lol. my pinterest is earth2daysi, but the link to the board is in my linktree. i also made a spotify playlist which i highly recommend to follow, i've added some songs to it already some of them will be used in chapters and others are just so you can catch the vibe, you know. the link to the playlist is also in my linktree.
to get updates on my story i will likely post them on twitter, so if you're an ao3 reader especially, i recommend following my twitter for updates. i'm still trying to figure out the ao3 website so if there's a way post an announcement on there, i will do so.
twitter: 222jaeger
tiktok: earth2daysi , i don't think i'm gonna post all updates on here because i make content other than this fanfic, but feel free to follow.
thank you all for the support, i really appreciate it, like seriously. the response i got to the idea of me writing this fanfic is absolutely astonishing, and makes me really happy. see y'all at chapter one

Operation Atlantis Notes - "Heatstroke" (chapter 6)
Yay, it's finally... here. Yeah, sorry for the delay on this one guys. I told myself I would do this over the summer, but then I procrastinated on it, and before I knew it I was back on the grind doing college admissions!!! Yay!!! Anyways, those are (mostly) done, so I'm back now. Anyways, enough dilly-dallying, let's talk about chapter 6.
The most difficult part of this chapter is that it's a transition. Compared to the first half of part 1, we're moving from beyond the basic setup and more into the actual plot, with Three and Eight both making some headway during this chapter. For Three, that's the museum, and for Eight, that's clothing. Both pretty trivial things, but hey. They mean something.
Opening poem: I actually really like this one. It's easy, simple, and gets quick to the point, which is Eight contemplating her identity. This is, of course, something we'll see in this chapter as well as the rest of Operation Atlantis.
Three and the Museum: Given that Tartar was created to be an archive of human knowledge, I think it's reasonable to assume that it, and by extension Kamabo as a whole, has access to a bunch of old human media. Hence why Three sees so many old videos of them. It's also, if you think about it, really weird. It's like if we had videos of the dinosaurs or something. Also, we get some background on Kamabo itself. Hm, I wonder how reliable that information is...
Eight and Trying on Clothes: Unironically, this was one of my favorite parts of the chapter. Just—Eight trying on that new sweater and loving it is so wholesome, guys. I love the feeling of finding a piece of clothing you really like, and I tried to convey that here. The other element, though, is of course, the flashback. It was kinda just a cool idea and I went with it because why not. It also forces Eight to get more invested in figuring out her past...
Heatstroke and "How Do You Dance": Oh, would you look at that, it's this chapter's namesake! Yeah, I was pretty excited to introduce them. Their music can best be compared to the style of the band Paramore—kinda like this pop-rock kinda deal. Anyways, the lyrics of "How Do You Dance" were entirely written by me! Yeah, I dabble in songwriting from time to time, mostly for ones about my OCs lmao. The other song Three mentions, "Budding Lilies," is in fact the name of part 1! In conclusion: these guys are super cool and I'm excited to show off more of them. Guess which one's my favorite :P
The Ending 👀: Yeah, Things are going be to happening next chapter, as you could've guessed. Nothing quite crazy yet, but expect some more intrigue and even a tiny bit of action! Woo. Hopefully Three's investigating goes well.
Anyways, that's it! Shorter notes then last time, I don't have as much to say lol. As for chapter 7... I'm not making any promises, but hopefully I can get it out by the end of year. I really wish drafting chapters didn't take me this long, but they do and I'm trying my best to speed up the process :'). Also Operation Atlantis's first year anniversary is coming up soon on October 22nd... man I have to do something special for it.

Whelp since Mu isn't going to be on trial until January that means no Mikoto anytime soon booo- Though that also means no Kotoko either. So, while I procrastinate writing that exceptionally long Mikoto examination. Let’s go over Anti Beat in comparison to Harrow and the information that has been gathered on Kotoko so far.
TL;DR/Just want the Theory- Kotoko killed people she was actively involved with getting acquitted in the first place. She's no vigilante or hero. She was cleaning up a mess she more than likely was an active participant in prolonging. That's why her and Mikoto are paired both their murders are work related, vindictive, and filled with an undertone of disillusionment. This would also explain things like how she had the means and experience to gather information in the way she's shown to be doing in her mv.
Also, since this is buried so deep in this analysis, I'm putting it up here. This perfectly captures my feelings towards Mikoto and Kotoko and understanding of their motivations.
"That rug you stepped on had a heart, that back you climbed up on had a name, dreams, hopes and if those are the things you're going to trample on I'll drag you to floor with me."
Yes, I'm quoting myself it's eight pm and I've been writing this since eleven in the morning. On top of that I think this is the best thing I typed in this whole analysis.
So, Let's get started with that comparison.
Anti Beat: “My back gets itchy when you try to put your arms around me. Those eyes that look on me so kindly, can I gouge them out? Plucked from their sockets, please hang them for all to see. Painfully unpleasant, come and receive this punishment for loving me.”
Tumblr media
Harrow: “I can’t forgive the evil hurting the weak. It’s unforgiveable, I won’t allow it, I sweared*.”
*These are what the English subtitles say on the video though the proper word at the end would be swore not sweared. Swore is the past tense of swear as in to promise, vow, or give an oath to do something. Which is possibly the intended connotation in this case. Since we know Kotoko was studying law because during her first trial fan interrogation she's asked What did you study in university? To which she answers, "Technically, I'm studying law. Though, I'm on a break right now because there's something else I want to do."
How she can afford this break and buying information at the same time and renting out a warehouse for her giant ass conspiracy board is beyond me though. So, she may have sworn an oath something that is commonly done here in the US but I am uncertain about this being the case in Japan.
However, The Japanese Federation of Bar Associations website states "The Attorney Act specifies the mission of attorneys as “protecting fundamental human rights and achieving social justice.” In other words, attorneys shall not only render services in the interests of their clients, but also endeavor to protect human rights and achieve social justice through their practices."
Tumblr media
Harrow: “How heavy, is the damage to get in the way of someone’s dream? I’ll gouge you out with my fangs.”
Remember that disillusionment brought up in the TL;DR. It's very telling that Kotoko's attacks, and her song start after her blindfold falls off and she looks directly at the audience as. In this case it could be us, society overall, or both. It wouldn't be a stretch to say she holds disdain towards this world of hypocrites that promote the ideas of justice without fully committing. The same with us/Milgram holding her there even though she fully believes what she did was right because no one else was going to do it.
The justice system was fundamentally and irreparably flawed, she saw that with her own eyes. So, people too weak to protect themselves should just shut up and stop getting in her way. I mean she's just trying to save them after all. This is showcased through her handling of guilty prisoners. She wasn't trying to punish them or holding back she was trying to give them their death sentence. Cause she knows feeling remorse and being apologetic in the moment doesn't mean people won't offend again. So, why show any mercy if the guard can't forgive them but can forgive her than that's enough to tell her these people aren't worth anything.
This is something also noted in her song through lyrics like “I’ll teach you the pain you caused. It’s a tie after saying sorry? What are you hoping for? Shall we replace the poor soul, and the miserable delusion ‘I didn’t mean to offend’, ‘I won’t do it again’. How many wins in a row?”
Yet, also note that the blindfold doesn't come off all the way instead it rests firmly on her neck highlighting that now she's in control of when she puts it on or takes it off. She decides what she looks at or not if these things are worth it to her.
This is why Kotoko answers, "That's a hard one. I'm only able to answer based on my guess on what they did. But I think the one that probably resembles me the most is Futa. Though he's also the person who resembles me the least." when asked which other prisoner she believes resembles her the most. Because Futa like her has a strong since of justice but still attempts to work within and use the law when possible. He's the first to bring up his legal rights while Kotoko someone who was studying the law doesn't even bother to.
Tumblr media
To add to this defeated since of disillusionment/deluded dichotomy we've got going there's a wolf pelt rug at Kotoko's feet. Something made from a skinned and defeated wolf. technically a shell of its former self and a decoration to be trampled over. Reawakened solely through her indignant rage. It's also important to note that the first thing that Kotoko looks at in her mv is that pelt rug.
It seems for some reason or another something stopped Kotoko from pursuing lawfully like she intended to. That or the position she sought turned out to be nothing like she anticipated or wanted. More than likely the latter given that Mikoto's voice line before the first trial is "My life it wasn't supposed to be this way." in contrast to hers which is "This feels so good." Her second voice line is something along the lines of the weak should just stay quiet and let me protect them.
So, chances are she likes what she's doing now far more in comparison to what she used to be doing. This could also explain why she didn't get the police involved when she saw the girl getting kidnapped and instead left to change clothes just to come back an unspecified amount of time later. Yes, this is something she clearly does within her mv. Yes, I wonder how she got voted innocent in the first round too. Honestly, even if I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt on this it's expressly shown through her mv this is what she does.
She sees the girl get abducted in a completely different set of clothes during a cloudy day then comes back later in her beating outfit and lays into the guy. The passage of time is further illustrated by the fact it's shown to be raining when she's giving us a very clear reenactment of how I assume Mikoto was folding Es and how she would if she wasn't physically incapable of doing so.
Yet, the scene in the mv can really come off as though she just went, “Hm this child is in immediate danger... Oh, no I can’t save her in my civilian clothes! I must go change. Hopefully during the commute to change out of my shorts jacket and hat into my hoody workpants and mask nothing happens to this innocent clearly in a time sensitive situation child. I see no reason to confront this person now, call the authorities, or even literally just go oh my gosh what are you doing is this man related to you young girl in order to throw him off enough that the girl can possibly just run away. Yes, this is the best course of action.”
Speaking of her "wait for it" mentality- Yeah, I bet you thought I just brought up Mikoto because I have a problem and you'd be right but no this time there was a purpose. It was to show that this isn't the only instance in which this aspect of her character has been highlighted. She watches Mikoto kick Es around like a ragdoll to gauge how strong he is and probably plan out the best way to combat him. It's also highlighted in one of the minigrams where Kazui is playing that word game and seemingly getting bullied. She tells the wolf to wait because she doesn't know if it's necessary for her to intervene just yet.
Yet, if Kotoko for some reason had inside knowledge or an understanding through personal experience that the person would not be held accountable even if the authorities were called then that would at least explain her reluctance to do that. Even making her appear more favorable to her detractors while still making it a bit more difficult to fully support her overall.
Anti-Beat: “This rice tastes terrible having just kissed you. The atmosphere is terrible when you are nearby. Thinking about ‘I love you’ reminds me of that nauseous feeling. Just being near you turns me into a different person. Yeah, I tried telling you this so many times. How is it? The taste of these sins.”
Tumblr media
Harrow: “Becoming light-headed again, it all becomes crazy. The normalcy sought for, fading away every time death comes the soul moves forward.”
That feeling you get when something bad happens and you know it could've been stopped. That defeated look of if they just didn't give them a slap on the wrist becoming a determined what are you going to do about it now. That feeling of pushing back after being pushed down in a well-planned act of retaliation.
Just going- That rug you stepped on had a heart, that back you climbed up on had a name, dreams, hopes and if those are the things you're going to trample on I'll drag you to floor with me.
Mikoto and Kotoko are truly on that good revenge shit that just makes my blood boil thinking about it.
Just that look of how could a system I believed in continue to let this happen. Then people go she's just a girlboss innocent without thinking about it anymore than that. Come on now...
Anti Beat: “I want to lose that ‘borrowed’ expression of mine already. It’s gradually reaching its limit, this world where you exist. What part of me do you like? If you tell me, I’ll do anything for you. If I’m told ‘I love all of you every single part’, I’ll just be filled with hate.”
Tumblr media
Harrow: “Newly born. It’s ok to dislike, right? Losing it, losing it, losing it. What should I hope for? Goodnight. Laugh and I can get to like myself.”
If you consider that borrowed expression as it could pertain to a borrowed sense of justice or beliefs instilled into a person through society or the environment, they were raised within. This scene in Harrow could be interpreted as Kotoko shedding off society's understanding of justice and creating one that's uniquely her own.
Anti Beat: “I absolutely detest the ‘me’ which loves you. Listen to this selfishness of mine.” “Hey, hey every time you smile these heartbeats of mine double in speed. All that you’ve done for me, all that you’ve given me, it just, it just… Hey, hey where the heck is that ‘hole’ of yours I was searching for. All that you’ve done for me, all that you’ve given me, it has turned me into such a mess. Everything is just such a mess.”
Tumblr media
Kotoko was asked the question "Have you ever personally been persecuted in the past?" to which she answered "I haven't. Are you trying to say that if you haven't had those experiences, you can't hate evildoers?" Meaning there's not much room to doubt or debate that the very system that Kotoko believed in is one she in some ways recognizes directly benefited her in ways that it didn't others. Possibly even understanding that in ways it will always be there to cushion certain blows for her if she behaves in a certain way. She even states that she'd act more femininely or get a lover if the circumstances required her to do so as well.
So, it's not a stretch to say she believes anyone without those same privileges is weaker than her and should just be quiet and let her defend them from all the evildoers looking to take advantage of them. Because of this self-perceived privilege, she could in her own way be attempting to even out the playing field.
Again, when asked which prisoners she doesn't get along with she says, "Mikoto. He's loud and bothersome." Not the first complaint we've seen about Mikoto being loud his room is in between Kotoko's and Amane's. We see Amane bring a noise complaint to Es as well. What we'll be focusing on is the bothersome point.
Outside of telling Kotoko to wish him a happy birthday cause everyone else did and it would annoy him to no end if everyone, but one person said it which personally is not an off request in the slightest to me. No, understand I will die on this hill that was the most normal response to that shit. Come on Kotoko we're all stuck here it's two words stop fucking around; I wanna go to bed not lay in bed all night like why the fuck didn't she say it.
Like I'm sorry this could just be a me thing- like I did just recently get diagnosed with generalized anxiety, adhd, and autism. Especially fun experience since I just went in there because I wanted to know if I had autism. So, pardon my oncoming tangent.
A bit of me is saying it might be an anxiety thing but I've kind of always been like this even before I had these diagnoses so let's keep it trucking ma'am- You have me all the way fucked up. I'm not fucking around with the laying in bed in pitch darkness thoughts creeping up on me with a bat like hey she didn't tell you happy birthday what was up with that like mother fucker just say it! It's two fucking words! It's not even bothersome. Why were you being rude to begin with? Let's start there.
If you have an issue with me, you can say it to my face and then maybe we can take it outside but don't fuck around with me like this. That shit is just highly annoying! Don't get me wrong it's fucking fine if half of the people said it or a quarter that's respectable. Yet, all but one?! Like you saw people coming up to me all day saying happy birthday and just decided fuck me, huh? All these birthday wishes, and you couldn't just go oh that's today happy birthday?
It had to get this far, really?! Tell me what the fuck did I do to you? On the day of my fucking birth. Oh, my fucking god if I weren't a very dedicated, self-controlled pacifist I would fuck you up you are walking on a thin line of patience that people have been jump-roping with for a long time now and once it snaps, I am not liable for anything that happens to you. Like that shit was annoying and uncalled for and fuck it this is my blog I have the right to vent about that shit. Okay that feels better moving forward.
Outside of that very normal response Mikoto had, why would Kotoko dislike him? Simple because Mikoto just might remind her not of who she once was like Futa but of who she is now. Someone blindly stumbling about listening to the orders of other people instead of doing things she wants to do herself. This isn't a dig at Mikoto but an attempt at understanding Kotoko's perspective on him and why she finds him so bothersome. It's easy to be bothered by someone if they literally bring to the forefront everything you don't want to engage with or give the time of day to mentally.
This is an issue of contention not just with Mikoto and Kotoko but with Mikoto and mostly everyone here. Particularly the girls Yuno has called him out for seemingly always forcing a smile, Mahiru said he seems like a cheater, Kotoko said this shit. Futa treats him the same as he treats Haruka despite Mikoto quite literally being multiple years older than him. Like homie he'll be fine he's had a job, he's had to deal with multiple stressful situations before this, he has communication skills at a higher level than most of you guys. He can easily hold conversation with most people here including Kazui and Shidou. Some of you are just kind of rude to add to that his communication skills and behavior were so normal that Milgram couldn't even tell anything was wrong with the guy at all.
Jackalope flat out stated when this started in Es' voice drama, "Mikoto Kayano. Male. No unique features about him. So, I don't have much to comment on. He's kind of like mass-produced goods."
This is the translation on the English subbed YouTube video of it I found but it's easier to say that Jackalope was saying that Mikoto is a dime a dozen a saying that means not rare and easy to come by. Usually used in statements such as people like them are a dime a dozen to denote that someone is not unique or special and are instead easily and cheaply replaced. You know, like mass-produced goods are.
So, not a lot of people were accurately able to pin down Mikoto. However, Kotoko was. She was fairly certain Mikoto had dissociative identity disorder before his trial started even positing the idea to Es. Yet, despite being aware of this circumstance just kind of goes I still don't like you. Though it could actively be because of this fact that she finds him bothersome cause she's unsure of how to handle him and his presence is notably dangerous unknown to her. Still, it isn't that difficult to believe she could also just be like I don't like you cause you make me recall stuff that annoys me.
Like Mikoto really does just seem to have the terrible misfortune of literally just mirroring people's insecurities right back at them by existing and everybody is making that his fucking fault like the issue isn't them. Like I'm sorry you're reading into his actions and mannerisms he didn't ask you to read them this is like a series of unfortunate events there was a warning you continued forward whatever happens to you now is on you. Yet, while Mikoto has that weird effect Kotoko has the exact opposite issue instead of making people see the worst in themselves she's more than happy to always see the worst in others.
Even when there's more good in them than bad. Now for me personally I don't believe that's the best way to live but I can kind of understand where she's coming from given everything that could have gone on with her. Yeah, this was long it's ten at night now this probably has spelling errors but that's it I'm going to bed. No one's probably ever gonna read this all but if someone does I meant every word of that tangent. Sure it was fueled by tiredness but that was some fucked up shit she did I'm gonna pass out now.

Lorule Game Plot & Story
What? I'm totally not procrastinating... here's an idea for a story following the events of A Link Between Worlds that takes place in Lorule with the Loruleans beginning their own story separate from that of Link, Zelda and the people of Hyrule.
Big big spoilers for A Link Between Worlds!
Ok, following the events of ALBW, Hilda is beginning to rule the land with much more warmth in her heart and is truly starting to become wise like the Zelda she admires. Likewise, Ravio has decided to change his ways and, while always a cunning trickster, is taking after Link in becoming Hilda's courageous right-hand-man and helping take part in the new future of Lorule.
One day, a strange wizard arrives with news that Yuga is mobilizing an army to take the castle and break into the sacred realm for a wish on the Lorulean Triforce. With a great number of paint-based monsters mysteriously brought to life by an ancient paintbrush he discovered, Yuga has a real chance at becoming the wisest, strongest and most courageous person in Lorule and getting his wish. (the competition is not exactly fierce, per se.)
The wizard urges Ravio & Hilda to seek out an ancient grove wherein a forgotten Lorulean treasure sleeps. The Blade of Shadow awaiting someone bold and cunning enough to weild its strange, anti-color (black light?) themed power to keep at bay the paint-based source of unlimited magic power Yuga has.
Thus begins what would be a raaather standard Zelda game set in Lorule where the heroes must find the sacred Lorulean do-dads to awaken the Superdark Evilsblade Which Is Actually Good while fighting Yuga's forces.
Partway through the game there is a proper battle as Ravio awakens the sword and Yuga makes his move on the Triforce. Upon touching it, he finds that was truly mistaken about having a balanced heart, always relying on the power of his creations to get by rather than becoming a powerful wizard in his own right, and it breaks into three pieces— Hilda has earned Wisdom, Ravio has earned Courage... and the mysterious hooded figure who knew of the prophecy recieves Power. The spooky wizard reveals himself to be Yuga's own mentor, a master of the paint-based magic passed down to him and the only living person who knows about Lorule's long forgotten history of the dark sword & the power of creation. Stealing the magic paintbrush back from Yuga, he is poised to rain pure calamity on all the realm with his own, much worse paint themed army of hellish goons!
The second half of the game sees the Lorulean trio team up, as Yuga wants to one-up his master and secure the power for himself. This is... well, Lorule dungeons and Ravio keeps growing (I think he deserves his own new tools, some rupee-based) before the final encounter, in which the gang lays waste to old man painty and Yuga, having developed his own magic further, is clearly now the Great Paint Sage (or whatever LOL!)
Thanks to the deal Hilda wisely worked out, the gang agree to let go of the triforce pieces and seal them away in very neat new underground shrine temples for future heroes to uncover. Even Yuga, satisfied at his ascent to power, agrees to this, with a sinister (but almost rival-like) promise that he (or maybe his kids IDK) would someday get their wish. Now a true hero and wise leader, Ravio and Hilda return to growing the kingdom, with Hilda making strides on the first great history of Lorule (and its off-brand Zelda Game source of magical power and sword for dealing with it, that everyone forgot!)
There will be.. eight sequels of varying quality. Thank you for reading! :)

I wish to know your side order ideas :)
i'm so sorry. im procrastinating so hard and i just latched onto this.
ok so i think the mission is going to be to save marina. she's either been brainwashed or unleashed something (probably coral or black ink-- more on that later) and got seperated from eight and pearl. eight and pearl are probably going to be the ones to save her (with maybe an appearance by marie cause of that one screenshot with maybe her leg). they're probably going to have to stop a ancient creature (dinosaur?) as the final boss.
so as far as marina being semi absent (def not completely cause i doubt nintendo is that stupid) is because when you pause the trailer at the right time, there is a colorful shot where marina is looking out to the distance surprised. the first thing to notice here is that the picture is like, full of color, something you don't see in many other trailer shots, which shows that she's not in the same place as eight (or the possible new agent) is. also, she's surprised. i think this is either hinting at a possible brainwashing (it would be expected with the amount of times its happened, but likely enough) or she did an oopsie and unleashed the final boss. i think it's more likely she accidently unlocked something because as i mentioned with what the boss will probably be, it seems ancient. something ancient probably isn't going to brainwash her because the two times we've seen brainwashing in this series are with technology. something that may be before splatoon modern era tech likely wouldn't brainwash her. or, nintendo could break these ideas and just go with it, because they can do what they want. just a thought about why they probably wouldn't. finally, as far as the marina picture, there's a weird kind of... barcode? watermark? thing on the bottom. it's kind of glitchy and distorted, which makes me think it's going to be a brainwashing thing, but also it makes sense for her unleashing something.
as for pearl being the mentor character in the story, the picture of her has the perspective of looking up. and, no offence to pearl, but for her to be literally looking down on someone, they probably have to be laying down. i'm assuming this person is eight because the background looks exactly like the place that the trailer mainly shows. marie might be another mentor character because of the one shot with her leg in the elevator, but still, i think pearl will be the main one.
and as far as the villian, i think it'll be some kind of ancient/dino/coral villian. as far as the coral goes, it's pretty obvious if you've seen any theory videos on this trailer-- the entire place has a bleached coral vibe. the trees in the square look like dead coral, there's a brain (representing brain coral), and the entire place is bleached white. as far as the ancient part, my friend actually found this. if you go frame by frame on youtube (pressing the < or > keys on a computer; i didn't know this before he told me lmao) you can see a skeleton/bone creature. and we were looking for matches, and we found one!! literally, a wiki page!! for a creature (probably, i'm not an expert) alive when dinosaurs were!! so either it is a dinosaur, or has the themes and ancientness of one. because this was a more aquatic animal, it fits with the splatoon themes. also, this creature had a very evil vibe (if you've played fire emblem 3h, think sylvain's crest spear (cant remember the name rn) cause that was the first thought i had when i saw this thing). and, because it seemed so ancient (and has a literal glowing red eye where there should be a socket-- no totk trailer vibes here lmao) i think it's not something that was created by anyone or just another villian like mr grizz-- but something marina unlocks.
thank you for coming to my tedtalk lmao. im totally not procrastinating my annotated bib, noo thats someone else

im late but ASK GAME TIME!! 1, 9, 21, 28, 36
Hey Mo I love you!! And that's a lot of numbers!!! Fine I'll answer them
Which of your fics would you keep the basic plot of but rewrite completely?
Wouldn't mind rewriting and bettering Tragedy Farce if only I have THE GODDAMN TIME
You also have to kill the perfectionist in you sometimes. I'd rather move on and make some other funky stuff
Thoughts on cliffhangers.
What about cliffhangers. I can be tricked into thinking bad stories are good if they have a good cliffhangers in every chapter or something....... So I'd say they're pretty important. You gotta make people keep reading somehow! I'm pretty bad at it myself though.
Can you accurately predict how long your fics are going to be? If you can, what's your secret?
I can't really. There is some intuition in shorter ones though. Usually those one shots with only one scene that I like writing will end up around 2k words. Somehow that's just how long all of them would be without me even checking the word count. And it would be enough, too. Crazy
As for my longer fics, they always end up double the amount of what I predicted lol
Any writing advice that works for you and you feel like sharing?
I think to write often you have to be amongst writers. Have some writer friends like this, who tags you in.. Asks games.
Seriously though, it seems to work best. Reading all your friends works and throwing your own out there to be read. It's a rhythmic cycle. There's nothing else more motivating. As for writing longer fics, I have a habit of not talking/sharing wips about it to anyone until it's finished. I probably should! You probably should. You can probably get better ideas from other people. You might also catch mistakes early. Either way, Use People.
What else... Mmmmmoh I usually continue reading a book first before I start writing because then the words flows out easier. But that might just be because I'm not a native english speaker. Get the english brain going. I think it'll work for everyone though.
When I'm so lazy and stubborn to write anything, I'll use an alarm to do those 25 min writing sprints. This I rarely do. It's only for my long fics that I procrastinate on horribly. It sort of works tho and after some days I'd start writing on my own without needing the alarm.
One other thing too maybe: draft on phone and edit on computer! Especially porn!! Cannot for the love of me ever do that on computer
How do you come up with fic titles? What's the one you're most proud of?
I like to reference things in titles basically. I'm not creative. If I'm stumped then I'll just steal some other people's titles. The Tragedy Farce one, for example, is a title of a philosophy book written by Slavoj Zizek, which is also referencing Marx's quote about Napoleon that says: "history repeats, first as tragedy then as Farce" or something like that (I think he was specifically talking about Napoleon III). 'Less than Nothing' is also a zizek book title, while also being something Leon himself said once. It's great.
Some other titles that reference things:
Sleipnir is a horse in nordic mythology who is ridden by Odin, who has eight legs, like the,,, eight princes of Rhodolite. So "Sleipnir's Second Limb" just means Chevalier. Through the pov character's view, he is seen as some sort of a God.
I know Nothing about norse mythology. I believe I was searching for just about any horse god out there to reference. I think this one is perfect.
"If the mountain won't come to Mochammad," and "God Between Us and All Harm" are both people sayings that I found by googling. I'm most proud of the Muhammad one. It fits PERFECTLY with Adam's dumb predicament there. As for the second one, it just sounds visceral with the content of the fic.
'Symptoms of Rosette Disease' is just some words. Honestly thinking of changing it. Rosette disease itself is a fascinating plant disease, that's why I used it. And it's supposed to mean the underlying prejudice and inequality that exists in Rhodolite, the kingdom of roses, or something. I'm Trying to be profound here
'The Skies Have Been Empty' is also a good one... It's just Wellington noticing that over the centuries the stars have been less visible (because of light pollution babyyyyyyyyyyyy) and since stars was how people find their way in the past, he now has lost his way in life, Something Something
That's all I have to say about titles. I just woke up.
