Hi

I'm obviously late here but happy new year. Sorry for the crickets since I posted Part 1 of Chapter 2. Without getting too personal, I know people don't want that, here's why I've been away:

My mother-in-law is sick and they are pretty certain it's later-stage cancer. We are waiting for the final results but we've been traveling back to England to spend time with my husband's family.

Our lease is ending this month and our landlord isn't renewing so we are moving.

I've recently started taking anti-depressants because I'm struggling with my mental health. I haven't been in a good place for several months. Several things have happened that have really messed me up mentally and I've been in survival mode.

I'm sorry for the lack of updates. Once we get settled from our move (Feb or March time), I will be making some fixes to the current demo as some different issues have been reported over the last couple of months. After that, I will begin work again on completing Chapter 2 and try to be more consistent with at least a monthly update on here.

I'm sorry that I've been flaky over the last year. 2023 was incredibly difficult for me personally and for my family, as I'm sure it was for many others. I am feeling positive about 2024 and I can only say this: I love this game and I am not giving up on it.

Patreon Closing & Where Things Are

Hi everyone.

First, I hope you are all doing well. I’m posting this to update you and let you know that I’m still around. I am not on hiatus - I am just working on the game very, very slowly, as I can.

Secondly, I apologize that a few of you (around 7 people) were charged because Patreon unpaused. The current set up is that it doesn’t notify the creator that the unpause is ending and you can only do one month at a time which is frustrating. Still, a few of you were charged and that’s on me. I did issue refunds which hopefully won’t take more than a few days to get back to you!

If you were recently charged and don’t receive a refund by Monday, please reach out to me. I absolutely want to ensure your money returns to you. It’s never my intention to just take peoples money. I’m really sorry about that.

My work on the game is continuing as I can dedicate time. I’ve been working 12hr days and had very little time to myself. I’m also applying to law school right now. Because I can’t dedicate time to Patreon and don’t want anyone getting charged for nothing, I will be closing down my Patreon this month (unpublishing it). I’m going to wait to ensure everyone who needs to receive a refund does first. It’s paused again so no one should be charged in the meantime.

There is a possibility I would re-publish my Patreon in the future. But that probably won’t be for a long time if it happens.

I am immensely grateful to each and every one of you for your continued support, whether that be on Patreon, Tumblr, or elsewhere. I will go back to primarily sharing content on Tumblr or the Discord server. I’m sorry for any time I let you down by being inactive. Working on Next in Line has been one of the few things to give me joy in the last year.

I will keep working on the game behind the scenes and post updates on Tumblr when I can. I hope to become more active once things slow down for me. I don’t anticipate that until December time to be completely honest.

Thank you again for all of your support. I can’t find the write words to emphasize how grateful I am.

Itch is changing hosting domain soon.

This change will affect any game saving as localStorage (cookies/cache). Your old saves won't be available after the change of server occurs!

This is especially important for Twine games, saving in the localStorage of your browser (when you use the autosave/save function). Saves in localStorage are URL dependent (so server dependant). If you play the same game in different URLs different saves will appear for each URL.

Export your saves now!

EDIT: a neat helpful tool to mass download/mass load your local saves

y’all I sprained my wrist yesterday morning doing something stupid. 😭😭😭 trying to finish scenes is painful but I don’t want to take a break and lose motivation before I leave for my birthday trip tomorrow since I won’t be back until Sunday.

I'm about to make the most chaotic, childish, narcissistic demon child that is talented/skilled but has such a short attention span and thinks everything and everyone is below them (or at most, their level) which probably contributes to why he's aroace - these people don't know what's coming for em (since he's two faced and probably acts sweet first)

Chapter 2, Part 1 - Out Now!

Hi! I was going to release this in the morning but I'm doubtful that I'll be able to get out of bed in time so....here's the update! Chapter 2, Part 1 is now playable on itch.io.

I've done my best to fix errors but please remember it is a WIP so I'm 100% sure someone will find some. If you have time, please let me know and I can do a bug fix :)

Word count: 59,479 (old) + 63k (this update) = 122, 479 total word count of the demo

This demo ends when you reach Invictus (end of trip).

I won't answer any spoilers for a couple of days. When I do, I'll use the tag "ch2 spoilers" in case you want to avoid it.

I hope you like the update. (or at least don't hate it LOL)

I’ll be pushing an error fix tonight regarding the pronouns. I fixed the previous issue but there’s a variable that’s not working right and it’s putting “she/her” “they/them” etc when it should just be one pronoun 😭 sorry about that y’all. Will get it fixed today!

I'm curious about Lucille. Is she exactly the way F described her or there's something underneath that? Because if there's someone who's mostly likely to intercept with F's letters, it's gonna be her or her family 🤔 and I read the ask about MC hypothetically finding out where F is and MC asking them to go with them, but F said no because they made a vow. I know that wasn't canon but is that a hint that F would never come back if Lucille didn't die? 😢

Lucille is exactly the way F describes her....to F. You're right that the hypothetical wasn't canon, but that doesn't mean people aren't who they are whether it be canon or non-canon. make with that what you will.

I know that wasn't canon but is that a hint that F would never come back if Lucille didn't die? 😢

F would have come back to Castelon. It probably would have been a longer time though. It would have required reconciliation with oneself for F. And lots of pressure from Felix.
