#Also I would have done more than a simple doodle but art is not arting rn

heello do you have any tips for noobie artists? ur art is just so very neat to me :) plz never stop arting
Never do what I do unless it is drawing all the time
Use references!! Always use them!!! Seriously please use references never let a stupid little rat in your ear take that away from you, they are always so valuable
If you see art you like, don’t be afraid to basically try recreating the same exact thing. All you have to do is not claim it as youre own, and better yet don’t post it online! It’s for practice, people don’t need to see practice in the end it’s only for you
Tracing is NOT wrong. I’m tired of people saying ohhh tracing is bad don’t do it ITS LITERALLY NOT!!!! Just don’t trace over someone else’s work/images and claim it as your own it’s that easy. If youre struggling with hands take photos of your hands and trace over it! Break them down into simple forms until you have an understanding of them in a meaningful way!
Do some studies of specific things. Struggling with leg anatomy? Draw a page full of legs, just push and pull and scribble and see what works, study images and see how you can reproduce it or stylize it
Never feel like you need to find your own art style immediately, that task is practically impossible. Everything comes from something, be inspired by others take little art bits from styles you like and only then can you create your own style!! (I mean dawg my style can be broken down into adventure time, owl house, invader zim, gooseworx, eddsworld, sr pelo, a few others im probably forgetting)
Don’t worry about broadcasting your work, not everyone needs to know all that you draw, the internet can be a hateful place and it really does suck a lot but also try not to rely on strangers online for support on everything you do, I know it is hard and that approval feel good I cannot deny it but remember to keep some stuff for yourself, a little treat where nobody can criticize you :)
Try to draw everyday! Or having a sketchbook where you make it a goal to completely fill 2 pages a week, and if that’s too much then just some doodles! Art takes a lot of constant practice, and there’s really nothing more fun than just having a little sketchbook with you where you draw random stuff all the time. When I was doing that I would make 2 page mini invader zim comics
I feel like a bit of a hypocrite because I do maybe 1 of these things but i know they are really good, I have done them before and they were super helpful! But in the end I think the best you could do is just keep at it! Don’t let people get you down, do your own thing, break rules if you want, it’s all art and art is AWESOME!!!!!!!

HEYAA. I’ve been so obsessed with ur MK stuff lately it’s insane. Wondering if I could request a little blurb with Steven? 🙏 Maybe artistic reader who uses Steven as a muse of sorts? 🎨 Maybe Steven finds reader’s sketches of him and Reader is like embarrassed 😨 that he may be uncomfortable with it? Add and change up anything you’d like!! 😽 ur my fav writer thank you 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼❤️❤️
Your Drawings Look like Heaven to Me
꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒦꒷꒦꒷꒷꒦
Summary: Steven always enjoys your drawings and art, big or small, painting or simple sketch and doodle. But he's a bit surprised when he discovers that you have a habit of drawing a certain muse that you have.
Warnings: There's nothing that I can actually thing of other than it's mentioned that the reader draws Steven when he's unaware, but I don't think it's that bad. Also 'Y/n' is used once.
Author’s Snip: This was meant to be just a little blurb but I got the writing equivalent of zoomies. You asked for a cookie and I made you a cake with layers, frosting, and toppings. This is insane how did I do this. I think it's because I've been drinking a monster while writing this. I have paused the video that I was previously watching in the background because I am so focused. I'm not even joking this shit is 1517 words long and that is before I proof and grammar checked it. I think this might be the longest writing I've done thus far. Enjoy your free cake, anon.
Notes: This is written in the lens of a world where it's just Steven, so none of the actual events in the show happen.
I’ll shut up now. Enjoy! And don’t be afraid to request.

Steven always knew you drew. You met at your jobs at the museum, at the time, you were working the front desk while he of course worked at the gift shop. The two of you weren't all too familiar with each other since you only saw each other in passing. You knew him as Steven from the gift shop, and he knew you as Y/N from the front desk. You did learn more details through others. Steven was a chatty guy who had an impressive knowledge about Egyptology and mythos. And you were the person at the front desk who did nothing but sit there and draw all day when not granting visitors entry, or in most cases, taking a second to scan a preprinted ticket and check the schedule.
Steven heard talk that you were really talented in your art. You were able to draw what were basically pictures of things you saw or even made up. He hadn't seen your actual art till one day he found you sat where he usually did for lunch, drawing the statue man that he talked at everyday. And wow, were they right about how well you could draw. Though while you talked to each other you laughed "Well of course I'm able to draw him perfectly. He doesn't move.".
That lunch break was a long time ago. You two started dating between then and now. Steven managed to leave the museum for a new one that actually let him be a tour guide. You eventually managed to find work that let you use your skills in art instead of using it to beat the boredom of your job. And you also moved in with Steven in his little flat, in which he cleared out some of this clutter to make a space for you to work and make your own.
You would draw little doodles for Steven to have. Like Gus swimming around. An Egyptian god that you made using his books as a reference. You even drew him a little alligator with a speech bubble saying "Later" on a sticky note. He still has it by the way. He laminated it using clear tape and has it in his wallet as a pick-me-up when he's upset or as a lucky charm of sorts. You always made drawings for him. But never once had he thought that you would make drawings of him. Let alone how many drawing you made of him.
Steven isn't a man who likes to snoop around regularly, feeling a massive sense of ruining someone's privacy. But you said that he could always look through your sketchbooks and art pieces if he wanted, as long as it wasn't a commission that was still being worked on, which he respected. You, like any other artist, had a plethora of sketchbooks of different sizes that served different purposes. There were your personal sketchbooks, outline and testing sketchbooks, practice sketchbooks, a lot of sketchbooks with a lot of different things they were for. It amazed him just how many you had and how you were able to remember which is which.
He knew which ones were ones he gifted you though. Steven was never confident when it came to gifting you supplies. He wasn't an artist himself so he didn't know what was perfect and what was something you would say thank you for out of courtesy. One of the things he used as a safe play were sketchbooks. The bookstore he frequented had a section of art stuff and found that the sketchbooks were not only great quality but also had various designs on their covers. So he'd get you one almost every time he went.
When he looked at them on the shelf next to your desk he realized that he had never actually seen inside of those ones. He was a bit hesitant to grab one since he didn't know if you would want him to. It's not like he could ask you right now. You were out running some important errands and he didn't want to bother you. However, they were on the part of the shelf that you put all your regular personal sketchbooks, which he was allowed to look at so he took a one random from the collection and flicked through the pages.
Out of some coincidence, it was the first sketchbook he got you, which was admittedly one he got you before he learned what pages were good for actual art. The first few pages were doodles that were likely from testing how the paper held up with the actual process of drawing which soon stopped and the rest of the art was actually taped on like they originally belonged to another sketchbook.
Steven thought of that as a clever use for the pages. You would sometimes make art you thought was nice on miscellaneous papers and would simply take the piece with the art out and stick it somewhere else. But he soon notices a theme amongst all the doodles and drawings, which then follow into all of the other sketchbooks he gifted you.
Him.
Most of the drawings in these sketchbooks were of him.
They were all different. Some were him lounging around or taking a nap. Something that would have made him unaware of you creating a drawing of him. There was one that was him asleep laying in bed from what would be your side of the bed. His face was calm, the limpness of his arms and body was captured perfectly, the sheets drawn with the most accurate wrinkles, and the lighting gave the impression of the light of the morning that came in through the curtains. It looked like you simply took a picture of him while he slept but it was clearly a sketch drawn using a pen and pencil.
There was these bust and face portraits that spanned through out the books, of course of him. The first were already so good in detail considering these had to be drawings of him from memory. But they only got more detailed as they went on. You managed to get his amount of stubble right. You had the little baby curls that lived along his hair line. The crease between his eyebrows he had since he always had a slight anxious expression. That tiny little dimple that he had next to his nose that he didn't know existed until you pointed it out one time.
Steven's mind was boggling to him to see such detailed drawings of him that looked so carefully done even when they were simply quick sketches. They were life-like. They were him. They were Steven. To be honest, how could it not? You see his face all the time. So why wouldn't you have him completely memorized. It was just the fact that you had taken time and pages to draw him and him alone.
It was a bit jarring, for the both of you, when you walked through the front door with a hand full of groceries and other things from your errands and he was seen looking at all the drawings of him. You were embarrassed that he finally saw all your drawings of him and worried that he would think it was weird. He thought that he crossed a line and breached your privacy.
You two avoided talking about it till Steven finally did during dinner later that evening.
"You, uh, draw me... a lot." Steven spoke. "Yeah. I do." you blush as you avoided eye contact in case his eyes showed that your fear of him finding your habit with drawing him was strange was correct. "Why do you draw me so much?" he questions. You sighed, "It's sort of a habit I formed." you confess. You proceeded to explain how it started,
"I first drew you as an exercise to get rid of some art block. I usually draw faces of people I know as a means to do that. So I drew you. It was okay. But when I looked at it a couple days later I thought that I could do it again to improve on detailing some more. Then I used you as a study for lighting and colors.".
"Then, sometimes, I would just draw you when I thought you looked pretty or thought of you. And that's sort of what I've been doing." you explain further. "I thought you would find it weird if you saw all the times I drew you and so I just put them in the books you got me and hoped you wouldn't see them." you say in a timid manner.
"I don't think it's strange. I think it's actually quite flattering." Steven clarifies. "I was just surprised that you think of me as something worth drawing. Especially with such detail." he remarks. You breathe a sigh of relief at that.
"If I'm entirely honest, love," Steven spoke up, "Never tell me that you're drawing me from where I am. I'll get nervous and possibly ruin the position that you're drawing me in." he remarks.

Hi! May I ask for hov x artist reader? The reader being mesmerised by hov's appearance and often drawing her in their sketchbook, which hov discovered just now.
Have a nice day!!
HoV x Artist! Fem Reader
☆ Fem Reader that's loves HoV and likes to draw her ☆
☽ ☽ ☽ ☽ ☽ ☽ ☽ ☽ ☽ ☽ ☽ ☽ ☽
Here!! Sorry if I made HoV ooc-
☽ ☽ ☽ ☽ ☽ ☽ ☽ ☽ ☽ ☽ ☽ ☽ ☽
!! Not comfy with men will block on interaction !!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
• HoV already knew you draw obviously because of your sketchbooks, she seen a lot of your drawings over the period of you guys dating!
• She likes to look at your art since she generally really likes it but she doesn't know how to express it so she just stares at it and hopes you know she likes it- but if you ask if she likes it than she will willingly nod! She's pleased that you asked rather than her just having to stare at it, hoping you get the point-
• The funny thing is HoV did notice a lot of the time you would be sketching in your notebook when you're with her but you'd still interact with the conversation and pay full attention to her, she didn't know why so she asked you but all she got was a blushful head shake
• if you were anybody else she would have demanded an answer but the reason she's not doing that right now is because she wants to be more nice around you and also the simple reason of she loves you, so she doesn't want you to think anything else besides that,, she knows if she uses a demanding voice when it's not necessary it might lower your trust in her so she's avoiding that all together, that's why she doesn't figure out what your sketching for a long time
• Until one day HoV was in the kitchen eating noodles that you made her when she noticed you left your sketchbook to go to the bathroom, she saw this as the time to strike since you couldn't be mad if you never figured out, right?
• She stopped eating her noodles and got up from where she was sitting, grabbing your sketchbook from the other side of the counter and opened it. She didn't even need to look around cuz on the first page of the sketchbook, she was there in all of her glory! HoV honestly almost started to cry at the drawing cuz it was so beautiful in her opinion! She loved it so much that she looked at the bathroom door and then back at the sketchbook than quickly ripped out the drawing but behind that one was another drawing of her, she didn't expect that so it stopped her in her tracks
• She just sat there holding the first page in her hand looking at the second page, there was another drawing of her? It was beautiful like the last one but why was there another one? That's when she started to flip around the pages of the sketchbook and she started to see multiple drawings of herself! Every last one was different from the last but also some were just doodles, some was what she in her opinion would be call a masterpiece..
• HoV just kept staring at every page then slowly without her even noticing tears started to fall from her eyes falling down to the papers below, was she really this mesmerizing to you that you drew her multiple times? Was this the reason you were almost always sketching when you're with her? She just couldn't believe it.
• She's done so many things, what did she do to deserve something as beautiful as this? She was so lost in her thoughts she didn't hear the bathroom door open and you walking up to her, she only noticed you once you said a quiet “sorry”. First you almost gave her a heart attack since she was lost in the moment but then she was confused, why were you saying sorry?
• HoV asked you why were you apologizing and you told her that you're sorry for drawing her a lot since you thought her tears were because that she felt uncomfortable or something. HoV normally can't figure out a good combination of words to tell you something that's on her heart but she knew she needed to say what's on her mind now and she did
• She talked about how she loved every single drawing that you made whether or not it was her or something else, that she didn't know what made her worthy of your attention to drawing her a lot. It was kind of something so simple but it meant so so so much to her.
• HoV than listened to your explanation of how you love her so much and that she was so mesmerizing in your eyes even though she done bad things in the past, she wanted to cry againat your explanation but she quickly stopped at that since she already cried once today so she can't for the next decade (/j), but she listened to everyword that you said, every single word.
• HoV felt so weak in the moment, why was she overreacting over something so simple? She wanted all these thoughts to stop so she pulled you into a hug roughly than she quickly nuzzled into the crook of your neck, just wanting comfort without saying anything.
• Be prepared because after this she's going to be following you whatever you go for the whole month now (/hj)

hi sorry if im being a bother but like. how do you be creative? or just have creative ideas in general? your art is always so unique and interesting and so different but I always feel like im never creative or have no ideas. idk if it has to do with me just not being able to focus easily but if you have any rescources or tips or anything really that helps with being creative, if it isnt too much of a bother, could u share them? ty sm
so this has been sitting in my inbox for months, i’ve been wanting to answer this when i had time!
here’s some stuff that helps me:
- an inspiration board by your workspace of other’s work and things you find out and about that interest you and doodles of your own
- writing down simple poetry or prose that you can later attach ideas to
- planning out concepts and compositions more akin to how one would assemble a collage ie. layering very visually different subjects and text
- exploring other mediums! sometimes ideas come better in 3d than 2d for me, this also applies to the work of others you view, i adore some good textiles or photography or films, and leading off that, follow lots of artists!
- let your interests motivate you! wildlife and paleobiology and queer love and my fav video games always make me want to create
- lastly be kind to yourself!
social media especially dictates creatives should always be pumping out perfect, innovative work but sometimes you just need a quiet week. sometimes you gotta make “meh” work and not post it or have a messy, illegible sketchbook. thats how art truly goes.
i can struggle with focus too, i can catch myself pacing for an hour straight or sitting down for two hours and getting 20 minutes of work done and other adhd brain shenanigans but i try my best to be kind to myself and try to create an environment to accommodate that.
treat yourself with respect too, art is a process and journey and we deserve to enjoy that act of creation and vulnerability and expression 💛

Now that we're entering into 2024, I'm asking some artists and writers that I follow:
1) What is the one piece you're most proud of from this past year?
2) What are some pieces that you would have liked more people to see? If you can include links, I'd love to go check them out!
3) What were your top three favorite pieces (art, comics, fics, etc) that someone else has made this past year?
(As always, no pressure to respond! Feel free to just ignore, or let me know if you'd rather I not send you these kinds of asks in the future.)
Oh this is fun! :D
1) The drawing I'm the most proud of this year is actually one I never ended up posting lmao, so I suppose this is the perfect reason to actually do that
Tumblr media
I always feel a bit self-concious about posting non-fanart drawings cuz they don't tend to gain as much attention. Which, I am fully aware that there are more important things than clout! But I am a simple woman, I crave validation 😔 Anyway, I am still very happy about how this one turned out. I very much prefer drawing characters over enviroments, which led to me being way worse at drawing enviroments than characters, so I've been pushing myself for the last couple of years to get better at drawing backgrounds and surroundings. While I still definetily have a lot of room for improvement, this illustration here is the best I've done in drawing enviroments yet.
2) Again, original stuff don't tend to get as much attention (which I fully understand btw, I don't wanna make it seem like I'm complaining too much, I very much appreciate any and all support I get!!!!) but this post with some doodles of my OCs as well as this random drawing of some forest with a big stone head lying in it are a couple of posts I wouldn't mind if more people saw so..... the links are there if ya wanna have a look 👀
3) Oh man, I've seen so many awesome artpieces this year, i can't guarantee that these are my actual top 3 picks, but here are some that I could remember liking (and that I also managed to find lol) (also these are in no particular order
This GIF was the first piece of RotTMNT fanart I ever reblogged and it's still glued to my mind it's just great honestly.
Man I do not like Timothy in the 2012 TMNT series at all but MAN do I love the way pinetreevillain adapted the character for the Rise universe! He's made quite a few comics of Rise!Timothy and he made the character so extremely likable I just hdsjhgjakfga also Pine's artstyle is delicous yummy yum go check out his art now!
I really like those reanimation projects where a bunch of people collaborate and reanimate induvidual segments in their own style, and there was recently one of those released that was a remake of The Clothes Don't Make The Turtle episode from season two of RotTMNT and it's great! Go and watch it here!

Hey. Hope you're having a wonderful day
Just wanna say that your characters are amazing. Exactly what got you into creating them ? Any sort of inspiration ?
Hey, I'm having a good night and hope you too !
Thank you so much, I'm happy you appreciate them :) I'm happy to tell the tiny story behind their creation-
So, back in march/april 2021 I was in my last year of my bachelor's degree studying animation, and I still wasn't sure about going in the master's degree in animation as well after that. There were a lot of struggles at this moment but anyway
The thing is that for the master we had to create a short film, alone and (almost) fully done by ourselves, so our teachers asked us to start a sort of book or sketchbook to do researches and brainstorming about the film during summer. Even if I wasn't sure to continue I started it, and sketched a lot of stuff and various ideas I had at this moment
Then I ended up not going in the master's degree and taking a gap year instead, but I still continued to sketch stuff in that sketchbook because I still wanted to do my own film at some point. Uni or not the diploma was mostly a reason to make a film, but I in any case I wouldn't be free to do like I want because of teachers' reviews etc. I wanted to make it truly my own, maybe not perfect but just give it a try and be free to tell the story I want.
But I was frustrated because I wasn't finding something that would make me feel like it's my own stuff, it was too similar to RWBY for a lot of things (already a big inspiration at this moment, I was in the V8 brainrot for the first half of 2021 lmao). So I wasn't really going anywhere
BUT, randomly in december 2021 I had a pretty wild and pretty dream, I decided to paint digitally the main scene of it and doodle some concepts I had from it in my sketchbook :
Tumblr media
I also ended up writing and composing a tiny song based on it (in french sorry-). It's not perfect at all or anything because I'm not a pro or super good, but creating a link between visual art & music helps me a lot most of the time so I do it (also for fun 'cause I love it) :
youtube
After that it didn't evolved much outside of the fact that I already had some sort of script for a "short film" or a teaser idk, I wrote that when I was in uni last winter. But I still wasn't really sure about the main characters or even their designs, even if Gris was the one I thought the most about and changed a lot of stuff
So last january/february I started to work on a first design and turn around for Gris :] (she didn't even have a name yet at this moment)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I continued to think of it until recently at the end of this summer where I sketched another design for her. As for Fauve, I knew for a long time I wanted Gris to have a strong bond with someone to help her go through stuff (and also a gf lol). I never really worked a lot on Fauve, I only knew she was going to have red or brown hair. x)
And I just sketched a first rough thing after Gris and liked it, so I kept it, it was really simple and easier than Gris' researches aha, idk Fauve's vibes felt pretty natural and logical after Gris was done.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also if you're curious here are some of the first design ideas for them I had back in 2021/2022 :]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It changed a lot--
Anyway, now I'd love to develop more stuff and make a short film :]

i’d love to see double date or tattoo fic for stobin (from the stobin month prompts)
I asked for requests because I could not choose between them and then you sent me a choice. Fear not, I will combine. Gonna ignore that tattoos weren’t legal in Indiana until the 90s, as it seems everyone is doing that anyway
Double dates make things easier. Nobody blinks an eye at what the activity they’re doing implies when it’s being done with two girls and two boys. It already looks like a double date. If they’re all giggling—as a group—well, no one really questions it. Still, they try to go out of town for it. The people in town know them too well. Assume that Steve and Robin would be dating which is uncomfortable on its face, but even if they were willing to go the beard route, that leaves Vickie and Eddie to pretend to be a couple, and they aren’t the closest. It would be a difficult idea to sell, long term at least.
It’s fun exploring the towns over too; places they’ve never been. Just walking around and finding things to do on the date as they go. Vickie once described it as like window shopping for date samples and then making a meal from the samples. Though she used more words to describe the idea.
So they’re wandering the area, looking in at random shops when Eddie suddenly shouts, “Oh my god, I totally forgot I’ve been here before!”
“Define ‘here,’” Robin prompts.
“This town. I drove over here last year for my wyvern tattoo.”
“I think, only you could forget about a town you went to a year prior,” Vickie says.
“What reminded you?” Steve asks.
“I recognize this area. The tattoo parlor is, like, a block away.”
↞⬡+¤+⬡↠
It’s the drive back that gets them talking, because Eddie has a strict rule regarding not getting impulse tattoos after getting the one his bats now cover, but he’s always itching to get more ink. The only issue comes with committing to a design and figuring out whether he’s actually prepared for the permanency of his choices or if he’s just so desperate to make himself into a work of art that he’s willing to take any image and slap it on his skin.
“If you want something meaningful to put on your skin, why don’t you just have someone you care about pick the design?” Vickie asks. “I’m sure you wouldn’t have any regrets then. I mean, unless you have a falling out with that person, but if it’s someone you really trust it would probably have to be, like, way down the road.”
“Oooh, Stevie, wanna get matching tattoos with me?”
“I’m going to be honest, I don’t know if there’s anything that would be fitting for you to get that I would be also super comfortable having on my skin. No offense.”
“Course not, love.”
“But I could probably think up something for just you.”
“Aw, just for me?”
“Shut up, you know what I mean.”
“But yes?”
“Yes, Eddie, I’ll doodle you up something all for you.”
“You know, I wouldn’t mind getting a tattoo,” Vickie says, directed at Robin. “Maybe a matching one would be too early for our relationship, but corresponding ones could be cool. If you’re down for it. Like if they work as a pair, but could be viewed on their own just fine? But they would be meant to represent ourselves more than each other, you know?”
“We could get our instruments done.”
“Yes!”
“We aren’t heading back now for you to get that done,” Eddie says. “You’ll have to wait.”
“Obviously. We’d need to set up what they’re going to look like anyway.”
“Eh, you’d be surprised with how little a tattoo artist can work with. I know your instruments are kind of complex, but you could at least get a pretty good simple version of them. More detail means a higher price anyway.”
“We should probably sit on the idea for a little bit anyway,” Vickie says.
↞⬡+¤+⬡↠
“Wat’cha workin’ on?” Robin asks, pulling on her uniform vest, ready to start the few shared hours of work she has with Steve after school.
“Brainstorming ideas for Eddie.”
“Oh, the tattoo! How’s it coming?”
“Not well. I feel like if I saw an idea I could tell you whether he would like it or not. I know him well enough for the yes or no of it, but coming up with an idea myself is so hard. I know how Eddie thinks, but it’s not how I think, so I’m drawing a blank. You and Vickie made these decisions look so much easier.”
“Well, maybe if you tried to look for something you have in common like Vickie and I did…”
“It’s not… Look, I’m not upset that me and Eddie are so different. I love him for it. I just wish I could do this for him. I’m glad that you and Vickie being so similar works for you, but so does my relationship the way it is.”
“Well, obviously it’s not working that well.”
“Shut up, we aren’t going to break up over my uncreativity. Eddie’s just usually the creative one in the relationship. I mean, the reason he asked me to do this is because he’s literally so creative he won’t think his choices through.”
“At least he’s self aware enough to recognize that in himself.”
“Yeah.”
“Maybe instead of brainstorming for just Eddie you should do some practice brainstorming first.”
“‘Practice brainstorming?’”
“Like a warm up. Like, you know how professional artists will, like, warm up by drawing a bunch of circles on a page before working on their actual pieces.”
“... No?”
“Ok well they do. Basically what I’m saying is that if your issue is that you don’t think the way Eddie does, then you could at least get into the mindset of thinking about what makes a good tattoo first. You think more similarly to me than you do Eddie, so if you were picking out a tattoo for me, what would you pick?”
“Well obviously a trumpet is an easy go-to. Oh!” He snaps his fingers. “One thing you could do is get the word for robin—like the bird—down in every language that you know. And then you could add one whenever you learn a new language.”
Robin hums. “I might use that, but no time soon. I’ll have to think on it. Any other ideas?”
Steve snorts. “Ice cream.”
“That doesn’t even work out of context. The only way that could work, like, as something that represents me, is if you get a matching one.”
Steve shrugs. “I mean, yeah, the only way I’d even get an ice cream tattoo would be if you were getting a matching one.”
“Where would you get it?”
“I don’t know. The Scoops uniform had, like, a patch on the shoulder. I’d probably do that.”
“Well if that’s the metric we’re using, my uniform had it on the vest. That puts it on my…”
“Your boobie.”
She elbows him lightly. “Gross.”
“Oh, whatever! It’s part of your body Robin. How can you not bring yourself to name a part of your own body?”
“It’s gross that you’re the one saying it.”
“But you also don’t say it!”
“I’m also not getting a tattoo there.”
“Then just also get it on your shoulder! You don’t have to follow the logic.”
↞⬡+¤+⬡↠
A couple weeks later sees Robin getting two tattoos. A trumpet on her left forearm, the same place Vickie got her clarinet, and an ice cream on her right shoulder in the same place as Steve’s. And Eddie is absolutely obsessed with his new tattoo of an african death-head moth. He named it Andrew. Steve may have recruited Dustin for help on getting past “moth.”
Despite being their most physically painful double date, it’s probably one of their most fun ones. Having some kind of goal and actually getting something—an actual physical thing—out of it makes it feel like they’ve achieved something. Maybe they should start structuring their dates a little bit more, even if it’ll be a little more tricky to keep their relationships on the down low.
It’s not longer “stobin month” but I will continue taking requests from the prompt list by @lesbianancyy because I wanted to take more in the first place, but I got these out late, because I’ve been super busy

Chibi Doodles!
$15 chibi commissions!
Tumblr media
Heyo, lovelies!
So, I think I'm gonna try and finally get past my anxiety and open up to do commissions. Mama was helping me gauge prices and as a chibi can typically take one to two hours to draw, she feels $15 is reasonable.
As a note, though, while it can take me that long, it may look like it's taking longer due to other projects I have going for me or other things in life.
But, let's get going with some information, right?
To start, while you may have seen previous posts of mine, but these are examples of my chibis.
Examples!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, I don't know if I can legally do fan art for commissions. I don't know all the rules and conditions and whatnot for that. But I am more than happy to do OCs and even try to chibify you or a loved one.
In fact, the chibi with the bandana and pink and purple outfit is based on my sister. The green and black haired one next to her is an OC of mine. The bottom two are fan arts I've done.
Though, I possibly can do fan art. I think some commission artists do, too. Hmm.
Payment!
Payment is important. Due to a mutual hate between Paypal and myself, I am not (and kinda can not) use that. However, I am able to work with Venmo for payment.
If there are questions about other potential payment methods such as Zelle, feel free to ask me.
The price also covers ONE (1) chibi, fully coloured and lightly shaded (I think that's what people call cell shading?). If you are wanting two chibis together, we will need to talk about that to figure out pricing.
The Process!
It starts out simple. You contact me in messages. Easy. And you inquire about a character/person and send references. Picture references are preferable for me to work from.
From there, I can work on the base of it. Now, this is equivalent, to me, to what people call a sketch. For my works, it's like these examples.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I will show you the base.
If you request specifically for me to not show you the base so you can be surprised by the end result, I will try to remember to oblige. Otherwise, by default, I will show you the base.
From there, I will line, colour, and shade the chibi.
You can choose to have a solid background (white or coloured) or transparent background.
You can also choose to have a "scenery" circle (seen in the completed examples) behind them or not.
If the scenery circle is chosen, please specify or give an idea of what you'd like and I can talk with you to see if that is within my ability.
All chibis are saved as a PNG file.
When I am done, I will inform you. It is then that I would accept payment; after the payment is received, I will send you your chibi.
You can choose to have your chibi sent here or to your email. If sent to email, please be sure to provide it.
Will and Will Not Draw!
Like many artists, there are things I will and will not draw.
This section is subject to change as needed.
Will draw:
Original characters
chibis based from photos (within reason)
Minimal nudity (butts and breasts; if you request this, for safety reasons, I will prefer to email you the results)
Minimal blood
Will NOT draw:
Full gore
Explicit nudity (genitals)
Overly detailed things.
These chibis are small and simple. Extremely tiny details are not easy; I will consider, if asked, to simplify, though.
May consider drawing:
These are things I may consider; please talk to me about them first.
Animals
Furries (I am not skilled, but I can attempt)
Some mech and armour (again, not skilled, but I can attempt depending on what is asked of me)
If you have any further questions about what I can and cannot/will not draw, please feel free to message me about them. And again, I do not know of the legalities of drawing fan art of existing fandom characters for profit. So, I don't know how to go about that.
The Recap!
So! Let's recap and summarize.
Payments are through Venmo.
Chibis cost $15 each.
A base WIP will be sent before continuing.
Payment is needed before I send the final product.
Refer to the list and ask any questions needed as to what I will and won't draw.
If you're unsure of something or curious, feel free to ask. It never hurts to ask.
This post and all guidelines and such are subject to change as needed.
As a final note. I am NOT obligated to accept every person who commissions me. I do not have to justify myself as to why I am declining the commission request.
Added note!
Due to existence outside of the computer, I do apologize if I do not respond right away. I may sometimes not be responsive due to being away with errands or sleeping. These things may also affect art timing. So, please be patient with me if I do not respond instantaneously.
Feel free to directly message me here on Tumblr. Or on discord, username " chibipixmama " about chibis, whether you're ordering or have questions.
If needed, you can contact me at [email protected], too.
With all that said and done, hopefully this is good enough and goes well.
Thank you for checking this post out and maybe I'll see y'all!
Until then!

I just want to quickly say please don't push yourself to try to fulfill every request !! we all really appreciate what you do and the fact that you're even taking requests to begin with is really cool of u !!! and if ur ever feeling overwhelmed don't hesitate to close requests, those ppl who are pressuring you to get to their request can just deal with it :T and thank you again for providing us coping fans with art to fuel us every day, ur awesome
First off, I want to thank you for being super understanding and appreciative of what I do! The fact that so many of you here have been supporting this blog so much has been a big highlight in my life recently. :)
That being said, I’d like to explain a few things now that we’re on the topic if you don’t mind!
About requests:
There are a few reasons that I usually keep my requests open that I think I would like to explain. One of these reasons is that sometimes I can’t always come up with very good ideas on my own all the time. Taking requests from everyone here in this community can help me draw ideas I would have never thought of and for that I’m grateful. Another is that I personally feel like taking requests builds a sense of community and gives me a chance to connect with all of you. I’ll be honest, I’ve been in quite a few fandoms and some of them were quite toxic. So to see that a majority of my experience here has been very nice has been refreshing in a way.
Now this doesn’t necessarily mean that I should feel obligated to do requests all the time. It’s just that I find them more fun than my ideas most of the time so that’s why there’s more of those than stuff that I’ve come up with.
The main rule that I’ve set for myself is that if I don’t like the request, I simply delete it. If someone repeatedly pushes for their request to be done I just simply ignore it or block that person if it’s too much. This is so I can keep this a comfortable experience for both myself and everyone else who follows this blog. Thankfully this doesn’t happen very often. This actually only happens with like a couple people which is why I haven’t really said anything much about it until now. It hasn’t really bothered me to be honest.
I also do close requests from time to time just to slow the flow down. This is so it doesn’t get too overwhelming since I do have a lot of requests that come in. As of posting this, there are like, 30+ requests that I haven’t done yet? But it’s not a big deal to me personally. I have a whole day to complete a 5 minute doodle so I’m sure I can take that tiny bit of time out of the day to do something so simple. That does mean waiting for your request might take longer, but I’ve already kinda talked about that haha.
Being overwhelmed:
Speaking of being overwhelmed,
Also I should clarify that I’m not really that overwhelmed by requests as you might think. I’ve had my fair share of overwhelming moments with similar scenarios like this and this is nothing compared to those. I knew what I was potentially getting into when starting this account so I knew what to prepare for ahead of time if it ever got to this point. I guess bad past experiences really can benefit you sometimes.
Now that doesn’t mean that I’m not overwhelmed at times! There will be a few moments that running this blog feels a little bit overwhelming but those moments are very brief. And in most cases those moments are usually worrying if people will like my doodle for that day or not. Or if I forgot to post that day lol. But generally speaking it’s nothing too worrying. I consider myself fairly good at keeping a level-headed attitude about this.
I’ve also had a few people both here on tumblr and other platforms say that they think I’m gonna burn out from doing this. Whether they mean this because Silksong hasn’t had any news for so long or because they’ve had no experience with a daily account, I’d like to assure you that burnout has a very low chance of happening for me. I’m intentionally putting semi-low effort into my doodles to avoid putting too much energy to this. Otherwise I’m absolutely sure I would have burned out weeks ago. If anything, I’m fully prepared to be posting to this blog for as long as a year assuming nothing happens along the way to prevent that. (*cough* like Silksong *cough* *cough*) If everything stays as is, then I’ll be here for a while.
-
Overall I’d just like to say that I’m under no pressure at all and all of this is just in good fun.
I think I mostly said everything I wanted to, but I hope I made myself clear about all this. If I missed anything I’ll probably talk about it on my main blog, @miizori.
And anon, you are a great person for being so considerate about this! You guys are just as awesome! My biggest takeaway from doing this is that I’ve had a good experience overall and it’s been really fun to interact with the community. I’ve also been enjoying watching my gradual improvement drawing my favorite characters too. If anything, it’s refreshing.
Most all of thanks for reading this! I look forward to posting more doodles to help everyone (myself included) with coping lol
- miizo :)

Hi! First of all, wanted to say that you are wonderful for still doing some little fun stuff for RC9GN fandom! I can't say how much I appreciate seeing the activity in the tag from you! Thank you.
Now, the reason I'm sending an ask, is I have a few suggestions/ideas that I wondered you might be interested to hear? If not, feel free to ignore this! ;D its totally cool.
You mentioned in the DTIYS post that you might be getting busy since the break is ending, and it got me thinking, maybe DTIYS could be extended for other artists? Like, if you are busy that week, or do not have an idea for DTIYS (or just dont feel like it, we all have those days lol), you can do a sort of 'feature artist for the week' to do a DTIYS drawing? I understand there might be a contacting/scheduling problem with that idea, but you can always just make a post/notice and see if anyone wanted to do this/next week DTIYS.
If you are worried about the complexity of the featured art, you can also make a list of requirement for DTIYS (like, only a single character, no/little background, props, themed and etc), so it would be relatively similar for everyone?
It also will give you an opportunity to participate in DTIYS too rather than just make it, if you wanted to! I kinda feel bad that you seem to do all the work, even if I know that you are doing it from love to this fandom haha.
Another idea I wanted to offer/discuss is the polls! I actually thought poll/episode bracket idea was a fun one, but i know its not the most favorite one. However, maybe it could be sorta implemented in DTIYS? Maybe a poll for a character/theme/episode-related idea for DTIYS people would want to see next week? It doesn't have to be constant polls every week, maybe just occasional if you do not feel particularly inspired that week, it could give you an idea?
I know that you started these new smaller events, because they were less stressful and urgent than prompt week/month, but still fun enough to engage with! If these ideas seems like too much worry/work, I totally get it.
Anyway, I wish you a good day! Thanks for reading.
(also ur art is ridiculously adorable ok bye)
Sorry for the delayed response!! You wrote a lot of good points and I wanted to make sure I addressed them all <3
The post was getting a bit long, so it's under cut. TL;DR I think I'm going to treat this year as a test run and then create a more formal one for next year! That will involve a Google Forum probably(?), but do note that one of the questions will be on a specific date. One problem I've found with events is the time they take place. Not planning on moving Ninjavember's month, but that for example is sandwiched between October/Inktober and December/Holidays/Finals, so it can get busy. Considering this is a new event, I want to give people in the fandom currently the freedom to kinda pick and choose when this might be done.
I think extending the DTIYS event idea to other artists is a great idea! I know that I started this rather suddenly without warning, so people weren't given a sooner notice, but if I do this again, I can perhaps create a forum for people to submit things to or have people submit things here. Nothing super formal (because organizing that might get messy), but that way it can feel a bit more like a community event :D
For this event, I'm kinda sort of just drawing by the week, so if anyone wants to submit stuff now, that's totally fine too! Worst case is we have more than 5 by the end of April, and that's definitely not a bad thing lol
As for complexity of DTIYS prompts, I wanted to keep it varied for fun, but I also think focusing on simple doodles is fine. At least then, it gives people more of chance to focus on their style first rather than figuring out how to draw a car or something (bane of my existence)
I also like your idea for polls, and perhaps if we do a more formal one for this next year, we can implement that.

i probably shouldnt generalize or take this too far but animation really is just one of the most rewarding things to do. not just because by the end of it you will have, you know, an animation (which you will! im sorry, i know im leaving the sentence hanging but seriously, lets really pause and appreciate this. a moving drawing! a drawing that moves! it might as well be alive! it might as well be real! and YOU created it! wowzers!!!) BUT ALSO-
its just reawrding on a moment to moment execution. you get to draw the most fun thing of all to draw, people moving, emoting, body language. AND, if you are inbetweening right and you know what you are doing, you get this visceral satisfaction of drawing something in just the right place. every step is you completing a pattern with the most satisfying conclusion. i really enjoy inbetweening. i love calculating in my minds eye the exact middle point between two poses and drawing it, like i can almost visualize it. i see the empty spot between two keyframes and is like "here, right here, right on this spot, if you put the drawing good in this right precise spot you will hear the most satisfying click in your mind" and it always clicks!
think of this! a lot of times i hear from artists that they love art because of the end product that it gives you but that the process itself its a grueling effort that one must push through to get their reward of the finished piece. but (at least in my case) the journey is very much the reward itself, a lot of times i will spend hours animating something and the end product will suck but ill be perfectly satisfied because i enjoyed myself doing it.
also if you are really good and you really know what you are doing you can do so much with so little. forget about animating on ones, we are not disney here. you can animate on threes, on fours, fuck it animate on fives if you really want to. you can just do five drawings and get the coolest, cutest, neatest, most satisfying little loop to entertain your heart and soul.
animation really brings out an appreciation for the small pleasures of life and when i say small i really do mean the tiniest. the smallest, most mundane of gestures suddenly become signature moves. suddenly give so much charm and character and personality. just by the way you make someone do a simple double take or even simply blink suddenly you can give someone so much sheer charisma.
but you can go even smaller than that! more inconsequential! you develop a taste for tiny little occurences, small happenstances that would be completly invisible to normal people otherwise. the way hair flicks when someone turns their head, the way a drop slides down a surface, the way a car bounces and sinks a little when people get into it or out of it. if you can succesfully capture those things it will ground your work so much. the tiniest most indetectable of details suddenly turns curves and lines into an object with weight and corporeality.
much like music, animation is one of those arts where even the most simple, most basic of excercises, just pure, boring, highly technical executions made simply for the purpose of learning the bare bones of a technique, will still come out looking great and you will feel great for having done it. with music you can doodle something incredibly coarse, maybe you just want to learn some basic chords, you are practicing arpeggios or you are just fucking around with scales and it will still come out as music, it wont come out as rough sketches or purely skeletical, empty building blocks. it will come as a piece of music that is pleasant to hear.
same with animation, you can just be trying to rotate a character to figure out their design or have a bag of flour fall to the ground, or you are trying to figure out their walking cycle. there is no story or punchline or idea being conveyed here, is just a basic "getting the handle of your tools" excercise and yet it will still be an animation, a beautiful piece of art that is cool to look at regardless of what its doing.
and if its true that an image conveys more than a thousand words then nothing can beat the sheer density of information contained in moving images. in just three seconds of action i can lay out so many complex, hard to put into words, ideas, so many vague and ambiguous emotions can be clearly comunicated.
and god, the expresivity of it all. we are social creatures, huge portions of our brain are designed to parse language, both verbal and in terms of gestures and expressions. animation is a direct superstimulus for those sections of the brain, you can make your characters so much more expressive that a human could be, and they can be expressive in such perfect, choreographed, synthetized, crystalized, bold ways. isnt that amazing? that we can give the caloric rich, sugar refined version of body language to our brain?
i have been doing animations since i was 7. i started with a mouse, ms paint and power point. you can tell i must have really loved doing it that i was willing to put up with that just to get it done. i started because i was a child who loved cartoons, who loved animated shows and animation. it was mindblowing that such a thing even existed in the first place. it was literally magic. to see any random animated show like powerpuff girls or dexter's lab or hey arnold. it was a proof that wonders existed in this world. the magic was real.
now that i am 30 i can do that, i can make those things too! is not even that hard! i can make magic!
magic is real!

Hello Alena! i Love your loose sketchy but colorful art style! 😍 I'm a fellow artist but for years i've struggled with trying to just sketch and be loose. I'm always taking even just a post-it-note sketch so seriously and automatically try to be a perfectionist and add in all the details! it's frustrating since i also can't get all i want to sketch done because i'm being meticulous with each sketch. even with just a simple lineart sketch. you're so great and wonderful at what i'm trying to accomplish. do you please have any advice?? 😫😩😵🥴 I love how you do the smooth lineart and expressions for the Bnha characters btw!
Hi! First of all, thanks, I'm glad you like my stuff! <3 I actually have a friend who's quite similiar in that aspect, she can draw super well, putting hours of work into one drawing until it looks perfect. That's a dedication that I admire, because I'd never have the patience to spend so much energy for one artwork! On the other hand, I see how that could get in the way of wanting to work faster and looser. I've always scribbled and sketched a lot, so when I struggled it was always the other way round, having to learn not to rush things. But I'm sure it's something that can be learnt as it is with pretty much everything :) I'll try to give you advice of what I think might be helpful, but different people like to work in different ways, so some of that might end up just not working for you, while other stuff might. (I'll be putting this under a cut, this could get longer)
One thing that might be helpful could be the medium you draw on! When drawing in a new sketchbook or having a nice white sheet of paper in front of you, I tended to get intimidated and think that I need to fill this paper with something nice and beautiful, so as not to "waste" it. Especially with new sketchbooks, I think everybody knows that feeling...Now, nearly all drawings and sketches I do are done on left over paper from me and my partner, stuff that would have been thrown away otherwise because one side is already printed on. It takes away the pressure of having to give it your all, because, if it would land in the trash either way, I can't ruin or waste it by doing only sketches and little doodles.
While we're talking about mediums, you might try changing the pencil. I'd try something that won't give you such clean lines, so that simply by using this pen, you are already limited to how detailed you can get. I enjoy using coloured pencils now and then, like a red polychromo, they allow me to make light sketches and then, when I put more pressure on it, I can simply draw with the same pencil over the sketch, but making the newer lines stand out more and thus putting focus on special parts of the drawing. This is sometimes not that easy with a normal lead pencil, black will always stand out more than a light red for example. I also like to draw with 2B or 4B for sketches, and don't sharpen the pencil too often. :) Keeps the line a bit blurry sometimes, and I can put a quick shading on if I want.
Now, getting more to some actual drawing advice, learning to be quick with a drawing, without caring so much about how it might end up looking, this might be something you'll have to properly learn doing...like, for example, setting yourself time limits for a drawing. A classic, though still good way to do this, is by using figure drawing videos like this. It will show the person being in different poses for maybe 1, 2 minutes (later on it will get longer) and that's the time you have for one pose, not longer. It's tiresome and overwhelming at first because you won't know where to start, but it will actually give you a feeling for movement of the body, learning which lines to draw, and which you can leave out and still convey the body language and make it a convincing, realistic sketch. In a way, what you want to achieve with a sketch is often quickly show a scene, or a pose that you want the character to be in. It doesn't have to look beautiful or cleaned up, but it must be (or at least it would be nice if it were) convincing, using only a few lines, but conveying what a finished drawing will or could look like in the end. That's where figure drawing lessons are really helpful, because it will help you get a feeling for how you can quickly make a character look like they are e.g. sitting, or angry, or ready to jump in the air...and so on. Phew, I could talk a lot more about this, and I would eventually end back up at me advicing everybody to learn anatomy, but it's always a question of what you want to achieve in the end, and if that is really necessarry for you and where you want to go with your drawings :)
Hm, another small thing might be no try not using your eraser for sketches? Just put it out of reach, and if there's a line you don't like, either ignore it, draw over it, or start anew. I'm wondering if this is actually helpful or just stressful, but it might be worth trying out. It might help to get past the idea, that your sketches have to look good!
For now, that's kinda all I can think about. This topic is super interesting though! I might not be the best person to give advice here, so maybe ask different people too for their approaches. If I can think of any more stuff, I'll write that in another post, for now I hope this is someway helpful, even it's not that much! Good luck with your art!

art vs artist 2023
I lamented the fact that I wasn't able to draw at all this year... earlier in the year my chronic pain that I worked so hard to manage returned and I felt like maybe I would have to give up drawing... not quite!
(in dealing with what might possibly be de quervain's syndrome) I am trying to recontextualize my relationship with art. Last year when I posted an art vs artist, I realized that forcing myself to take extended breaks has been a great refresher and a great tool at preventing art blocks. I absolutely miss drawing every day, and sometimes I feel like the FOMO is getting worse, but I understand that even if I was able to draw as much as I wished, getting older means having to attend to more responsibilities.
also get used to me not really rendering stuff because it can be a bit taxing (and because my tablet has refused to work with my computer for several months now). This was the first year in a long time where my art actually got traction and most of the pieces that went far were ones that were simple un-rendered doodles! tumblr treats me so well, much more than twt has ever done (even before smelly mc nasty took over). You will still see me around-just at my own pace. Thanks for continuing to stick around if you're here.
