WAIT I WANNA BRING UP ANOTHER THING ABOUT HOW BULLYING IS ADDRESSED IN NERDY PRUDES MUST DIE. one thing I really liked about how Max is shown as a bully is his talk with Pete at the Pasqualli's parking lot. When Pete tries to stand up to Max, Max pushes him down and emphasizes that Pete isn't a loser because of his own qualities - rather, Pete is a loser because Max simply said so.

Of course we can attribute this to Max's god complex but I think that this point in particular is less than often really brought up in teen-centered media featuring bullying: that bullying exists not because of nerdy behavior or whatever the fuck, but because bullies will it into being. And to have a BULLY of all people say that out loud - to have the main villain point out the root of their behavior without showing any kind of shame whatsoever - showcases just how much of a menace Max is.

#like max is really fuckin self aware throughout the show #he knows he's the biggest prick alive and he revels in his jackassery #to the point of pointing out the core problem of bullying itself: people are bullied because people are bullies. simple as that #like its a good message to hammer down in the bullying problem of the show while also showing how far gone Max is with his delusion of power #so um yea #oki at this point it's kinda obvious that my favorite character in the show is max jagerman like writing wise #dude's portrayed as an irredeemable literal monster and the show doesnt shy away from the fact that the dude isnt getting any redemption arc #and yet there are nuances to him being overzealous with his power both in life and in the afterlife #SO YEA STARKID DID A GREAT JOB IN WRITING MAX LIKE DAMN #starkid #nerdy prudes must die #npmd #npmd spoilers

what hurts about angel crowley is not even just that he used to be an angel. it's the fact that in that one scene, even though it's just him and aziraphale, you can tell that he's so different from the rest of them.

aziraphale is very obviously wary, cautious and maybe even a little standoffish, and he's so concerned about breaking heaven's rules. crowley on the other hand is so innocent and excited the whole time and he's not afraid of anything, and he doesn't see the harm in being inquisitive, rightfully so.

and also, aziraphale at that point in time, and i assume all the other angels as well, are in that small little box where they think everything that they make has to have a purpose to advance heaven's plan: when crowley makes the stars aziraphale is like "okay... but what's it for though?" but why does it have to be for anything? crowley made them because he genuinely loves them, because it brings him joy, because he sees the beauty in things.

it's exactly these things that set him apart from the other angels that caused him to fall. and they're such human traits too. the curiosity, the passion, the want to create things just because they can be created. anyway that's what hurts thanks for coming

See here. BSD is a story about how all of our characters were once children. How the scars and wounds and secrets of their past will always haunt them to the present. We see it with Chuuya, Yosano, Ranpo, even Odasaku briefly, Atsushi, Tachihara, Akutagawa, Kyouka and Kenji right now, even Kouyou just a little bit. They've all overcome it or they've allowed it to consume them. And yet that brief glimpse into a past where they were young and scarred shows us once again just how human they are...every criminal, ever person, was once a child wounded by or protected from the world and doesn't that count for something even if it doesn't excuse the atrocities they commit today?

I think we should just bring back Wungo Wednesday and start a fandom collective anime rewatch

#Because otherwise I can feel I won't last much longer #Because like. The last two hyperfixations of mine ended the moment I started feeling like there wasn't any new content #And two days ago in one day I started a new manga a new book and rewatching a favourite show #Whereas I hadn't started anything new in the two years ever since I got into bsd. Which makes it NOT a good sign #But the bsd anime has now ended for one month and 25 days and that's the last time the plot actually moved forward.#And if I counted right. The manga took 4 chapters (that is chapters 110-111) to adapt 6 minutes #That means it's going to take another 12 months (18 minutes left to adapt. that's 12 more chapters) to catch up with the anime #Yeah I'm not. sticking around this long with nothing new to see I'm sorry #Best case scenario I take a one year hiatus but that doesn't make it sound likely that I'll be back #And I know it's fresh news as early as this morning that author said they were introducing a new character but like.#They also said they finished writing this arc like. One year and half ago if I remember correctly?#And we still have yet to see the end of i t so...#That is to say. I'll probably be starting an anime rewatch starting next Wednesday. i'm still a little mad that the only way i ever saw anyone talk about the owl house on this site for like 2.5 straight years was just "it's soooo gay and cute and it's gay and there are girls and it's gay and they hold hands in a gay way and it's soooo sapphic and sweet and cute and it's GAY can you belieeeeve that the showrunners are so BRAVE to make a show GAY for KIDS and it's gay so it's soooooo good!!" because i honest to fucking god spent those 2.5 years increasingly resentfully being like RAISE YOUR FUCKING STANDARDS. NOT EVERY CUTE UWU GAY SAPPHIC THING IS THE NEXT COMING OF MEDIA JESUS. IF THIS IS ALL YOU HAVE TO SAY ABOUT IT THEN IT MUST BE FUCKING AWFUL. and then only after a full year of pestering from my brother did i finally watch it, with an attitude mostly of "ugh FIIIINE let's get this tf over with for my sibling whom i love."

and it was good.

and it wasn't even good because of the gay shit. it was good because of 10,000 other things that No One Ever Fucking Talked About. that i had no fucking idea Existed. (the gay shit added to and reinforced the overall themes in pleasing narrative ways but was not REMOTELY the best part of the show for me. bc. it has that many storytelling high points.)

the fucking iron grip that KHR has on my ass is insane bc its such an EPITOME of found family - bc its not even the side effect of like a shared goal or mission the way found families tend to be - but because FOUND FAMILY IS THE ENTIRE POINT

not just their relation to tsuna - which is the primary focus of the story but their relation to each other - how they must learn to be together bc again

So, this parallel, right.

That parallel and the 4x11 shadowpeach fight as a whole:

Macaque: "No that's YOU! You're the one always running off! Looking for more power, more sources of immortality—you're the one who wouldn't quit while were were ahead! Not the great sage, he's got to drag EVERYONE else into his mess!" Sun Wukong: "You're not in this mess, you're still free! Everything I did was for us!" Macaque: "You did it for yourself! You've become like this, obsessive demon! I told you going against the Jade Emperor was a bad idea, but no, Wukong doesn't listen to anyone! He just does whatever he wants! You put yourself here, not me."

(4x11 A Lifetime of Mistakes)

A large part of Wukong's motivation to keep getting more power was the freedom of it—the more power you have the easier it is to do whatever you want. It's easier to ignore everyone else and focus solely on yourself. It's also easier to ensure yourself and your loved one's are protected and have the ability to do what they want.

So, a punishment where the great Monkey King is imprisoned and trapped for hundreds of years? It's effective and tragic and fitting. Wukong wanted to have the freedom to protect the people he cared about, and in trying to reach for the power to do that, he completely had his freedom removed. He went from the mountain, to then the circlet, and then all of a sudden he had morals and was bound to those.

And then I think about his end of s3 choice to go face the Lady Bone Demon alone. Once again Wukong was trying to protect his loved ones (not to mention the whole reason he went after the Samadhi fire to begin with was to have the power, the freedom to stop LBD (which in itself is another case of SWK believing he needed to be stronger for such freedom)), but he also wanted to make sure MK and himself both had agency. He didn't want MK to have to fight LBD, and he didn't want LBD to end the world.

This is exactly the sentiment he tells Macaque in the 4x11 flashback:

Sun Wukong: "It's so we don't have to worry about anything or anyone ever again! Just living a lazy life, sitting in the sun, eatin' fruit, and doing whatever we want!"

But where does it all lead him?

To possession, imprisonment. Once again Wukong no longer had the freedom to do what he wanted (which is to protect the people he cares about). Once again in his attempts to help his loved one's, he only hurt them.

This can be applied to his relationship with Macaque, to MK in s2, hell, even Wukong trying to get the map in the first place left him powerless, which then led to him and the gang being imprisoned in 3x02. It's a familiar pattern, one we see with antagonist and protagonist alike.

MK in s2 trained to become more powerful, which in the end only strengthened LBD and forced him and his friends on the run. Mei in 3x12 protects MK by letting herself get captured and placed into LBD's crystal. Mei in 4x05 goes to protect MK, breaking her sword and leaving her vulnerable to being captured by Kui Mulang ("How am I supposed to protect everyone without my sword?"). DBK reached for more power and then became possessed by LBD, hurting his wife and son. Azure reached for the Jade Emperor's power and bound himself to that role, jeopardizing Peng and Yellowtusk in the process.

It's a cycle of reaching for power, endangering others, and then being imprisoned.

So anyways, here's why MK is going to lose control (his agency) next season and hurt his friends with his own- *get's shot*

It's not just ''Wukong got possessed'' it's how Wukong getting possessed plays into his character and the show as a whole #Which is why lmk is so good #A league above the rest #Ignore that this is also the exact same thing that happens to Callum with possession.
