This one is also rude. In the interests of making this slightly easier, multi-fandom slut that I am, I’m sticking to RWRB fic writers, seeing as that’s our current primary shared fandom.
@indomitable-love has an incredible way of seeing to the heart of a character and making their emotions leap off the page in a very real way. I’ve learned a lot from living in her gdocs!
@everwitch-magiks creates worlds that feel so complete, even in a short one shot, and I really envy her ability to do that.
@clottedcreamfudge is funnier than I’ll ever be and her fics have so much heart, no matter how hot and horny they are

4. How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Care to share one of them?
I always have ideas floating around in my head, and daydreams that develop into full stories as time goes one. But right now I just have two actual fic ideas (other than the one I'm currently writing, of course).
One is the Moon Knight fic I've talked about before. I really want to explore Layla and Marc's relationship post-series, and of course how it impacts Steven and Jake (who they have yet to get to know). Is it a way for me to write a polyamorous/reverse harem story without actually writing one? Maybe.
The other is another Damerey Modern AU, and it's one I've been wanting to write for a long time, but it had a very serious premise and starts off as a one-night-stand, something I've never written about, so if and when I get to it, I'm going to have to tread carefully. I'll probably do another canonical story before I even attempt this one, because I like to alternate. Toying with a Poe-dealing-with-PTSD type story, because you know he has to have it after the events of the first two movies!
10. Which fic has been the easiest to write?
The one I'm writing now (Caer del Cielo) has been the easiest long fic for me! It's just been cruising along, with only a few moments of 'dead air.' However, before I started it, El Halcón had been the easiest. It didn't hurt that I had been playing with that story in my head for literally years, so I knew almost every inch of it before I wrote it down (though a couple of chapters surprised me).

Describe your comfort zone—a typical you-fic.
Definitely some type of kid-fic. I really like the trope of accidental baby acquisition, but I think I've written more pregnancy fics than I have accidental acquisition. Either way I find it so entertaining to write characters adapting their lives to deal with a kid. The arc for me usually goes find kid (or find out about kid), deal with some world-ending crap, figure out how to handle kid.
13. What’s the best writing advice you’ve ever come across?
If you're ever stuck with writers block, look back about three sentences from where you are. Often the problem is in what has led up to where you're stuck.

23. If you were to revise one of your older fics from start to finish, which would it be and why?
Well, I know it's not Three Rivers, a story about a girl going off to a magic school. Eventually I may redo that and revisit that world. But my heart's not in it anymore.
Someone mentioned Roll For Initiative to me today, a story I'd written about a girl who joins D&D Club after a track injury takes her out of the season. I think it might be fun to go back to that one and fix it up. Not to query with, though. Just as a different project.

37. Talk about your current wips.
Wich one of them? 😅
Alright, let's see. I'll talk to you about these two wips I'm dealing with. I had started writing them a while ago, but then for some reason, I lost myself.
The first one is set at the begging, more or less, of season 8. So, Dean went to Purgatory and all of that, and then there is the reader, who's trying to figure out what happened to Dean. I can't say much more without involving a lot of spoilers.
The second one is a smut one. It's something that I never wrote about before, which is no surprise. I'm pretty new to smut, so everything is a challenge for me. This one started in a way and then the story took control of everything and went in another direction. I'm stuck at the moment, so I'm hoping to be able to get past writer's block sometime soon.
Keep your fingers crossed for me. 🖤

Wait, what’s going on with Embers???? That fic has been on my read later list since 2021, what’s happened with it???
Brief overview, then I'm likely never touching this topic again, because this is not a Drama Blog:
Context: Embers is a super old AtLA fic that was written during the early fandom days, read widely at the time, and was the origin of the widely-used fanon name of "Wani" for Zuko's ship (kind of by default that it was one of the first popular fics to give his ship a name, I think?), even though most fic writers don't seem to realize it's from there anymore.
"What's Going On": I used to include a link in all my stories to it, because I believe in crediting other writers for borrowed elements, and I was using "Wani" in all my fics. But BOY did I not want to be sending readers that way anymore, so I've adopted a new name for Zuko's ship, and removed all Embers links.
None of the criticisms about Embers itself are new; I'm assuming they date back to when the fic was being written, because this isn't an "it aged badly" thing, this is an "actually yeah this gets worse the longer you think about it and I shouldn't have ignored my bad feelings just because some of the worldbuilding was interesting" thing.
An Incomplete List of Why I Made the Change:
I don't actually like the story that much anymore, and don't want to rec it
I tried to re-read it recently to see if some things were as bad as I remembered and it turns out they were So Much Worse Oh Yikes. More specifically, the treatment of Katara and Aang and their respective cultures has... rather a lot going on. One example: The Fire Nation and Air Nomads are both given multiple backstory elements in an attempt to make the average Fire Nation soldier's participation in the genocide/war in large part the fault of the Avatar and the Air Nomads themselves, and also fully justified from the Fire Nation perspective. And I do mean fully. One of its core tenants is "People from the Fire Nation (and only people from the Fire Nation) who don't follow orders Literally Die, therefore murdering pacifists and babies and continuing the war (and their regularly scheduled war crimes) is the only thing it is physically possible for them to do". I cannot emphasize enough how literal that is.
Also the name "Wani" means "Alligator" and is... objectively a pretty lame name for Zuko's ship? Where's the personality, where's the deeper meaning, where's the resonance with Zuko's themes? @tuktukpodfics initially thought I was calling the ship "Wanyi", and that's what I've switched to, because it is Objectively So Much Better. In their words: “Wànyī (萬一): Literally ‘one in ten thousand,’ ‘perchance.’ Used grammatically in Chinese to mean ‘what if’ or ‘just in case.’ I think a ship called ‘The Perchance’ is perfect for a boy clinging to false hope.”
TL:DR; I don't rec Embers anymore, because I don't actually like the story anymore, and there are things about it that get worse the more I think on them. I've removed links to it and renamed Zuko's ship to "Wanyi" ("The Perchance") because our boy deserves a ship name that reflects his character arc.
#for the record if you ever find something kind of rancid in my fics#do please let me know#EX: I've rewritten scenes to be better Actual Blind Rep for Toph based on blind reader feedback#and I'm debating how hard it would be to ignore/re-write the canon issues of Water Tribe sexism (for the Southern Tribe at the least)#because that is a common complaint I see from the people who's RL cultures the Water Tribes was based on#probably I can do more interesting things with that going forward#in other words justice for Hama and Hahn#at least the show itself made Hama excellently complex#anyways back to doing actual writing#please no follow up questions#though I will say anyone who wants to update their own fics to use Wanyi (or any other name): go for it!#all you need to do is plop your chapters in a word editor and find/replace the ship name! it took about 40 minutes to do literally#all of my fics and I had some other editing to do besides! it'll be even quicker for you!#let's sink the Wani#avatar the last airbender#atla#Zuko

You know, I went back to some of my first fics and I don’t think my style has really changed much? Maybe because I’ve only been writing for a couple of years but beyond general improvements, I don’t think my writing has changed much stylistically.

Oh, definitely friends-to-lovers with a whole lot of angst, but a very happy ending. I don't even need smut if the emotional content is superb.
3. Is there a trope you wouldn’t touch with a ten foot pole?
I've never really been into Crack Fics. Don't really like reading them and could never write them. Of course, I never thought I would enjoy Soulmate AUs, but I not only really like some, but have written one!
13. What’s the best writing advice you’ve ever come across?
Ooof. That's a hard one. I can think of two pieces of advice that have helped me. The first one is to never stop reading. When I first got back into writing during the pandemic, I stopped reading for a while, then I started reading other people's fanfiction, and now I'm back to reading books again, too, and the writing is easier than it's ever been. The other one is to stop writing/take a break in the middle of the scene, when you know where it's going. This makes it easier to pick it up again when you get back to it.
There's also the 'write on a computer without internet.' I'm sure if I was writing as a career, this is something I would do, but not now. LOL
40. Write an alternative ending to [insert fic title] (or just the summary of one).
Oh, crap. Uhm... Oh! How about this alternate ending for Blind Faith? @marieziffer will appreciate this. Rey has the surgery and it is a success and she can see again. She and BeeBee go on to the able-bodied Olympics. But do they win the gold? Cliffhanger ending! LOL

11. Is writing your passion or just a fun hobby?
Look I don't like using words as dramatic as "passion" but it is definitely my passion. I have been doing it nearly every day since I was 13, so that's half my life, and it is easily when I feel most in-tune with myself.
15. If you could choose one of your fics to be filmed, which would you choose?
Oh see this is a tough one, because there are some of my fics that I know are better much written than others, but there are some which I think would translate a LOT better visually.
I'm going to go with As The Tide Turns because I really swung for the fences with the scope of that one, and it's definitely one of the ones which I'm not thrilled with all the writing, but I don't think it's bad. It would just be better visually. I used the Season 3 team of Legends, along with a lot of past Legends, and the ending was a huge battle scene. Plus the majority of the story takes place in an RV/in places the RV travels to.

Dialogue is always one of my big strengths and I will never not talk about it! I think I'm pretty darn good at capturing pauses in conversation, in sentences, and a real feel of how talking flows.
