Ooooh! You really want to challenge me! But yeah, I need to get into his headspace so I can start writing again, so let's do this!
14. Most heroic moment
He's a lot like Poe in the way he refuses to consider anything he does heroic, but he has proven over and over that he is indeed a hero. However, I think his most heroic moment was when he left the Field of Reeds to go back for Steven.
35. Their idea of a perfect day
I think his idea of a perfect day would be a day out and about with Layla, whether it be in an Egyptian market or the mall or the park. As introverted as he is, he loves to see Layla happy and loves to be the one that makes her smile.
43. 3 favorite foods and 3 they despise
With his history in the military and as a mercenary, there isn't much he won't eat, but he does have texture issues, so now that he has options he avoids things like oysters, yogurt, and sushi. While he isn't a vegan like Steven, Steven's diet has given him options he never would have thought he would enjoy. Spicy black bean wraps and veggie enchiladas are favorites, but he also loves a good steak!

Currently reading: Does FanFiction count. I have a backlog of a few stories I’ve saved in drafts. So I’m slowly working myself through those. Other than that, nothing else. The mental capacity is at zero. That nagging anxiety won’t let go until I get my god damn papers.
Last film: I’ve rewatched Alien and Aliens. As odd as this sounds, I find them to be comfort movies. 🙂🙃🙂
Currently craving: Homemade chocolate pudding.

First ship: I don’t remember if this was my true first ship, cause fandom or the term fandom wasn’t part of my life until my early thirties, but I do remember wanting to see Janeway and Chakotey together. Like ugh…
Fave colour: Blue and green spectrum.
Currently working on: This, and another massive crochet blanket. Another multi colored, multi stitch beast.
It’s 300 stitches across and will be similar to the leftover yarn blanket I’ve made before but like BIGGER.
So far I’m about 60 rows in. Aside from singles, half doubles, doubles, trebles, and worked back-loop rows, I’ve already worked the following patterns/stitches:
granny stitch
short spike stitch (over doubles)
bullion stitch
Catherine’s wheel
alternating front-post back-post stitch using doubles
star stitch
wave stitch pattern
tulip stitch pattern
dragon fly stitch pattern
braided puff stitch (I absolutely love that one and might make a scarf with that particular stitch)

28) An ending I wish could change:
Frickin’ Dark Disciple. That Asajj-dies-for-manpain ending was such bullshit. She was a great character, and the book gave her a really satisfying arc for almost its entirety. But then instead of giving her a real ending, one where she’s still out there somewhere, living her life, she inexplicably dies from wounds that we’ve seen Luke and Darth Maul survive. I mean, she was a far more important character, narratively, than Quinlan Vos. He was in one episode of The Clone Wars. Asajj was in every season. So the fact that she had to die for his character growth was insulting.
So if I could rewrite the ending, I’d have Asajj survive her injuries with some nifty new scars, and she would continue her bounty hunter life-- still working on being more morally upstanding, since that was where her internal quandaries were leading her. And I’d have Quinlan Vos leave the Jedi Order to join her.
40: A book I wish I could un-read:
Jane Austen’s Emma. Now, I didn’t read the whole thing; once my essay was done, I dropped that book like a hot potato. But the endless, boring, nothingness of that book haunts me. The fact that some people like that book haunts me. I still can’t tell you what was going on, and I wrote an essay about it. People gossiped, guys flirted with Emma, she was only interested in her friend... It was just a lot of talking and visiting and trying to figure out who was going to marry who. I mean, I suppose it’s a great immersive experience of what it was like to be wealthy in those days, but good god, I couldn’t stand it. If I had lived then, I would have been accused of being a witch, because I would have moved off to a tiny house in the woods and refused to socialize with these sorts of people. Or I would have been that scandalous lady living in the city who behaves like a man.
If you don’t like books where nothing happens, for your own sanity, NEVER read Emma.

For Bonita (@losethehours )...
When I got the news last Thursday of her passing, and that she ended it herself, I was in shock. Since Friday, I've just been hurt, and in some ways, numb.
For DAYS, I've tried to think of the right words to say... the right words to express where my heart is, the right words to just let things out. I hadn't found them. I still don't know if I have them now, yet.
Today was her memorial service. I drove down to try and say goodbye for myself, and to pass to her daughter and family the condolences and sympathies from us, her tumblr family, scattered across however many thousands of miles apart we are. (A pleasant enough drive down through the mountains of Kentucky and Tennessee, and I imagine in about a month, in the middle of October, it would be absolutely beautiful with fall colors in full bloom.)
The reception and service were held at her church. The reception area had a number of her things scattered around the room. Her love of colorful fashion was in effect, (which she often showed here with many fashion show reblogs) with a number of her bright and colorful scarves and big bold necklaces placed on a lot of counters and tables.
A fair number of pictures of her were there, most of them seeing in her in the middle of a smile or a laugh. The picture of her with that knowing smirk we've seen was there as well. Also a couple pictures of Sundance, her cat.
There was a small basket for her nerdy side too, with a Spock teddy bear, several Spock figures, and a BB-8 lunchbox.
She kept her personal life pretty private on tumblr for the most part, so some of us probably didn't know she had a talent for art. There were four or five paintings she did around the room as well. I regret not being able to get pictures of them. One was a sunset piece, catching the sun going down, filled with pinks and oranges and reds. One was of a young woman, dressed in sort of Victorian clothing, relaxing on a hillside. One of two men playing golf, talking and walking between holes. Another one with horses in the distance. All together, they showed a very talented mix of different styles.
At the reception and service, her daughter and her friends spoke of a woman who I don't think any of us would really be surprised about. "Colorful" was a word that was used several times, in regards to her appreciate of bright and colordul things, as well as in regards to her personality. As many of us here know, she was always ready and willing to share her insight and advice for anybody who needed it (and sometimes without being asked for it). She was very active in her church community, volunteering her time frequently at church for many different things, and always willing to be there for people at the church, many times offering kind words and comforting touches.
She was never afraid to speak her mind. She had her thoughts and opinions, and was always willing to share them (again, sometimes unasked for). She would stand up for what she thought was right. She was always willing to help someone out, however she could.
As I said before, as I think we know, she was a private person on here for the most part in regards to her personal life. She was in a lot of pain, physically, mentally, emotionally, for many different reasons. And then she finally reached her limit.
Why most of us didn't know, why this came as such a surprise to us, is because she didn't want to burden others with what she saw as her problems. And I gathered, based on what several people suggested, was that being online (and thus tumblr) was a refuge for her. A place where she could leave her cares and worries and problems behind for a bit, and just enjoy what she enjoyed. We were a small escape from life, and a support system for her, in our own way.
She will be missed so much, by so many people, whether they know it or not. The interactions we've all had with her, that spread out through this website, like tiny little ripples in a pond.
I don't know if words can adequetely convey how much personally I'll miss her. All the cat pictures, all the discussions on so many different topics. We knew each other on here for too short of a time, and I think that would be true even if we had known each other for decades. Things are just a tiny bit less bright now that she's not around.
Goodbye, my friend. I hope someday we get the chance to meet again.
I am glad that you no longer have to worry about your pain.
I pray you've found the peace you were searching for.
"My friend" feels like such an inadequate description for who you were.

Friends who read More Than All the Stars, I need your help...
I'm starting to edit and adapt it to a standalone story in its own universe. I was hoping for some input.
If I turn it into a fantasy genre, removing the space elements and advanced tech, what sort of position would Poe have? Since there wouldn't be pilots... or should I work it to where they having flying craft, like those flying boat things in Thor?
I honestly want to keep the multiple planets and space ships but I'm afraid it'll be too obviously Star Wars...
Please, what are your thoughts? I'm tagging some peeps but anyone who has read it, please feel free to chime in.

So @jewelsrulz and @infectedmetaphysic got me this novelty soda while they were out the other day, and it has been a... unique experience. So I figured I'd post something like a review.
Stalinade
This is the soda in question. Infectedmetaphysic said they would get it for me if they saw it because, after all, I am Meg the Red. If you're wondering why there's plastic wrap on top, it's because I cannot drink it all in one go. It's too much.
If you've ever walked down the cleaner aisle in the grocery store and thought "gosh, I'd really like to know what that Lysol tastes like" this is the drink for you. It smells of cheap red sucker. It tastes... Look, I don't know what to call this flavour. Allegedly it contains natural flavours, but I'm not sure I believe them.
Now that's a claim I believe. If anyone can tell me what the flavour is, hit up my inbox and tell me what planet you're from. My dad's opinion was that "this is why the USSR fell".
Also believable. Maybe this is caesium flavour. (It sure isn't strontium, because it's "not a significant source of calcium.") The first ingredient is natural spring water... Springing right out of the reactor core?
Final verdict: 2/10
My brain still can't decide whether I'm indifferent to it or whether I hate it. It's... Drinkable. That's all. It's not horrible, but it is far from anything even resembling good. If anyone has a Geiger counter, do me a favour and run it over this stuff if you get the chance. Just out of curiosity.

Wow! In all my kids years at school they had maybe three snow days. They never close the schools here for snow or cold. Too many parents would bitch about having to make last minute arrangements for child care.
because i work in an urban district and like 90% of my kids take public transportation to get to school, they HAVE to cancel when the bus stops aren't plowed and kids can't actually access the buses (aka having 2nd graders having to climb snow drifts like 8 feet tall to get to the street, which happens when you plow!) so about half of the snow days that have been called this year are called because the city just hasn't found a place to put all the snow! and on those days, the school district keeps its family centers open, which are places you can drop off your younger kids when you go to work. so for the most part, it's okay - still obviously a lot of instructional time that i, as a teacher, am scared to lose!!!
