Ace Combat 3 was notoriously gutted for its international release: the ambitious branching mission structure, the high-concept sci-fi plotline, the anime cutscenes done by Production IG, all gone. Thankfully, with the aid of an emulator and the work of two teams of dedicated fan translators you can play the original vision of the game, fully translated. There are two fan translation projects:

As a (wannabe) queer polyglot it's extremely important for me to understand how pronouns work in other languages and how to use them properly, but my fussiness has arrived to the point that I have chosen my preferred pronouns even in Latin and ancient Greek

#I love learning languages and I can say I speak more or less 4-5 of them #Italian and English fluently. Spanish pretty well. Latin ermh I do my best.#ancient Greek I know the grammar very well but still don't manage to translate it.#Czech and Japanese I know the basics but I'm working on them. Czech in particular.#and overall I have a good ear so I understand the basics of Portoguese and French #but for pronouns it's difficult for me in Czech for some reason?#anyway my pronouns in Latin are illa/illam and illud/illud #while in Greek άυτή/άυτήν but only because the Σοφία is female so it's more handy #ight sorry for the long rambling #language tag #vagor dicens #pronouns

My new headcanon is that Steve Harrington was raised by his nonna in the countryside of Italy until sometime in middle school. His father and mother put him in an American middle school when he knows nothing about English and was bullied horribly. Not just by kids but by other adults too. He hated that they all looked down on him. It also didn’t help that his father punished him if he even heard Steve speak Italian He learned English pretty quickly and around the eight grade, they settled in Hawkins. He took a chance to recreate himself since he didn’t want to be bullied. But his first language is Italian so that’s all he thinks in. That’s why he’s not able to catch more things that the others are saying and why he struggles in school. He’s trying to process everything. He’s actually wicked smart but struggles to express that in a foreign language.

A reason why the party or the adults don’t know is that since his father always got mad about the Italian, Steve just learned to not bring it up and not let the accent slip.

When he started at scoops and met Robin on the first day, she offhandedly commented about Italian. Steve was excited and tried to casually comment that he also spoke it but Robin scoffed because she knew his rep academically and socially. He’s a bit hurt and tries to defend himself when rush hits and Robin completely forgets about it. He doesn’t say anything when she mentions languages to Dustin because he rather not get scoffed at again. Robin would be horrified later on if he spilled the secret.

Steve deserves more love from the others and be let of easy because he’s surrounded by extremely intelligent people at all times.

#brushing my teeth like 😡😡😡😡#selena quintanilla queen of tejano and queen of little mexican american girls that cant speak spanish (me)#when i was like 7 years old i was having a TOUUGHH time at school #cause kids were saying like oh your mom looks weird she doesnt look like our moms!#and my dads white and im very white like visually #so i was getting a lot of people asking like What Are You are you adopted etc etc #and then on the flipside all of my cousins speak spanish but i dont #cause im the youngest and by the time i was born all the spanish speakers in my fam had learned english #so it was very like whatever way i turned i wasnt fitting in #so my mom sat me down and made me watch selena and i criiies and cried #like no i dont look like her but we’re both 3rd gen girls who were a little lost with their cultures and stuff #also dont tell my mom any of this she says im white passing to white ppl but mexicans always Know #which is true ive had mexican people ask if im mixed or wtf is up #its gotta be my nose like 100000%#i think my nose and body type and hair are the noticeable features #i was also raised super culturally by my moms side of the family #also i think its funny that spanish speaking people dont assume i speak it so theyll be talkin shit or something and ill know #i understand it but i dont speak it #but im getting better!! i think i probably can speak it im just not at all confident #i had to drop highschool spanish cause my teacher thought i was cheating #and she did not care when i was like girl i promise i only know this cause of my abuela pls believe me #sorry im rambling i have no clue where this is coming from #but when my grandparents moved here it was like #like 50s racism running rampant #so my grandpa tried to ditch EVERYTHING and like oretend he was italian cause that was more acceptable and all that #so he got rid of every tradition and tried to smash it down as much as he could #so of course that rubbed off on my mom #but my grandpas sisters never tried to hide it #so me and my mom have really bonded over like relearning our culture and i get to go to his sisters to teach me and its just really nice #yeah ok bye

The power of having a Hispanic family that have impossibly high standards is being able to manage multiple personalities/identities like a pro. Going to my Grandma's house? Boom, I'm suddenly a Catholic girl that loves dresses and sewing. Dad's house? I'm a carefree and forgetful girl. Mom's house? I'm a straight-A student, with perfect attendance that knows 5 languages and can draw. Honestly sometimes I forget how I really am until I go on social media or go with my friends.

#carlos sainz jr #p1 with matt & tommy #f1 #I love Carlos' confidence when he speaks another language #what I get from him a lot when it comes to English it's the use of latin based words #maybe I'm mistaken but that's a thing that also happens to me as someone who speaks a language similar to spanish #As learners we know that many latin based words are part of English as a language but #a lot of English teachers have told us during the years that those are 'less used words'#so we are taught to make an effort and avoid words that sound too similar to our native language if it exists another word to say smth #Tbh even years later I sometimes find myself trying to avoid those words because in my head i stil go 'it's probably not right'#but obviously Carlos just doesn't care anymore and has now reached such a level of fluency that #he has completely understood how he can use those words and he does it without even thinking about it #he just knows that those words are just as valid #that they require less effort because they are actually easier for us #and also make us sound more articulated and maybe a little bit smart #Like the use of 'deviated' in the podcast #it's just easier and it gives the right nuance #in italian one would easily say 'deviato' and in spanish 'desviado' so why make an effort and use something different like 'shifted'?#it's logical and it works just as well
