Storykeeper AU: Fayde's Life

Moments between Fayde and the characters. No rhyme or reason, just what comes to me.

Lilia tries to get her into technology. The greatest invention since running water! And... she's all for jumping into the modern world since she seems to be stuck in it for the foreseeable future, but it's going to take baby steps. The first time a phone talks to her, she freaks out. She's much more open to learning than Malleus though, so she's already doing good in Lilia's opinion.

Fayde could completely destroy Trein's world if she tells him how wrong the history books are... maybe it's best to let him be.

Vil is bound and determined to get her to stop dressing like she's from the dark ages (which... she is). Fayde is perfectly happy the way she is, thank you very-... wave some modern day food in front of her, and she'll play along for a while. Donuts were an absolute hit, imagine what will happen when she discovers pizza. Even if it makes Vil cringe, she's still humoring him and that's all that matters. (Rook, go burn these clothes before she notices.)

Ace and Deuce irritate Fayde to no ends with their ridiculous nonsense... but she still puts up with them and even follows them around when they're up to no good. Half the time, she's literally thinking 'my lord, why do I put up with them?' Because: these two are like toddlers on a rampage sometimes, and it's the most fun she can ever remember having.

Fayde still ends up living in Ramshackle, she doesn't have magic herself. She LOVES the ghosts though- they can reminisce for hours about everything that's gone on in the past few centuries.

Grim sneaks into school after orientation since Fayde somehow ousted Yuu in this whole mess and he wasn't there in orientation. He still gets in trouble and Crowley goes to throw him out- Fayde volunteers to watch him though since she KNOWS he's supposed to be there. Has an easier time wrangling him than Yuu, but normally lets him do what he wants as long as he doesn't get himself killed.

Malleus vaguely resembles the Shadow. It made Fayde curious, so she started hanging out with him at Ramshackle. And the whole 'scary aura' doesn't bother her- she's seen some things in the past few eons, and she'll take a lonely dragon fae over those any day. And she may have been drawn to him because of his resemblance to Vail... but now when she looks at him, she doesn't see it. It's just Malleus...!

Sebek dislikes her because of the point above. He thinks she's plotting. Fayde is minding her own business.

She'll trust Floyd over Jade any day. Jade is always hiding what he's really feeling and planning behind that too-friendly smile; Floyd's moods might be unpredictable, but he doesn't hide them. You'll know if he's in the mood for a laugh or in the mood to squeeze you 'til you pop- Fayde will take the moodswings please.

Azul tries to make a deal with her... Listen. She watched over the Little Mermaid when it happened, she was acquainted with Ursula's scheming from the start; it's not gonna happen. A nice offer- but no.

Initial thoughts about season 2: Alice in Borderland

I sadly raced through the season very quickly, because my friend and I wanted to do it together and aren't able to meet up often. So I think there is far more about the show that I might have missed or will look differently at in a while, however, I'd like to share some notes I took while watching.

spoilers ahead

♡ After the loss of Tatta, Arisu was once again found in the same position on the floor when he lost Karube and Chota. I think it says something about the strength of their friendship. Also Usagi being the one to help Arisu stands parallel to season 1.

♧ I liked, regardless of how sad it was, that Tatta losing his hand was a reference to what happened to his boss / that mechanic from his job in the real world.

♢ Getting to know the backstory of Heiya gave us a subtle hint at the things we learn at the end of the season, as the song 'Good Times' also plays on the background of this scene where she is standing pretty close to Arisu and his friends at some point. Good times also plays in the very first episode of the first season.

♤ Tatta has a very iconic silhouette, I believe also to make up for the lack of depth he should've had to his character. Despite that, I wished they ditched the hat in some scenes. Especially the more emotional ones. I was truly sad I couldn't see the emotions projected from his eyes. Even turning the cap to the back could prevented the shadow he had before his eyes.

♡ Heiya's first game was stupid in every sense. The objective was bad, the winning/losing condition was disappointing. And the whole thing felt uncreative.

♧ I feel like the scene where Aguni called Arisu a good decoy had something to it. He could either be referencing the five of spades (although I don't recall the exact actions in that game) or something that also happened in season 1: Chishiya using Arisu to find out about the location of the cards (which would be super sneaky because Aguni would have figured out what Chishiya's intentions were). If it's neither it could also refer to something from the manga.

♢ I am really in debate about one part and I can't seem to decide whether I like it or not. This is about that one part with that big compilation of games. On one hand I loved we were given a moment of interaction between Kuina and Ann (love them as a duo/couple) in that dodgeball game. However, I didn't care much for those other games we see only in a couple frames in such a short time. I wouldn't know the objective/rules of the game so it doesn't engage me to think of solutions or anything. But I can't decide whether I would have been better if the whole thing was left out, or if they only featured the dodgeball game, or if they made that into a full game itself.

♤ Very short and unexplained last note: the king of spades was my favourite game by far.

Background/Facts:

• Toxin is my main character. I love him so much I made him into a DnD character.

- It is tradition for Argonian kids born under the Shadow star to be given to The Dark Brotherhood (a group of assassins that worship Sithis) to be raised as a Shadowscale. His mother did not want this for her children and fled with him and his sister shortly after they hatched.

- Toxin's mom raised the two to be polite and kind, feeling the weight of their destiny on her shoulders. One night a dark elf duo ambushed the mom and her two kids, making off with Toxin.

- Toxin was sold to a family where he met another Argonian slave. Toxin and him tried to escape and succeeded but the other boy was killed.

- Toxin fled to Cyrodiil and was taken in by an orphanage before he aged out of the system. He took on many jobs, none of which stuck.

- The last job he took was a courier where he delivered packages and letters. He stole the horse and fled to start his life in a new province of Skyrim. He was then promptly arrested after getting caught in an Imperial ambush.

Background/Facts:

• She is based off of Alice Madness Returns and Fran Bow (hence the name). Spoilers for those games ahead.

• When she devours a dragon's soul, it doesn't just go away, it adds to the collection of voices in her fragile mind. And sometimes those voices take over and determine what she does next.

- Basically Dinah awoke to her mother, father, and sister murdered in their rooms. Their parents room held strange runes and symbols around and on the body. Their death was ruled to be that of a group of cultists. With her mind in ruins, Dinah was admitted into an asylum where several experiments took place.

- It wasn't all bad though because eventually she met a kind doctor named Dr Deern. Together they unlocked repressed memories of the night of the murder, while Deern used his free time to dig into old files written about that night. Apparently someone was trying to cover up that night, but why? (if you played Alice Madness Returns you know what happened to Lizzie and the family.)

- Just as they discovered the truth, another doctor (Dr Bumby) murdered Dr Deern and framed Dinah. He was the killer of her family! Dinah escaped that night just barely by starting a fire and escaping into the sewers.

- Eventually she made it to Skyrim where she asked a group of blue uniformed soldiers to share their fire for a bit. They reluctantly accepted only for a group of Imperial's to ambush the camp and arrest everybody involved a few moments later. The rest of the story goes as Skyrim plays out.

• Yes I made an ex Thalmor agent turned good. I am not original lol.

• When Rain was very little, he saw a high elf bleed for the first time, and was confused as to why their blood was red like the common Man/Mer/Beast. That's how ingrained the idea that Altmer were the superior race was. He is now trying to unlearn all of that.

- With no where to go Gamoar headed north to Skyrim with the hopes of finding the college of Winterhold. He was caught crossing the border and was then arrested.

Lancer, being strangled: Dad, I can't breathe!

King: Yeah, so?

King: Who cares if you die? I have seven more children.

Lancer: That's... out... of character... for you... Dad!

King: You've got a point.

(He holds Lancer by the shoulders. Lancer gasps and pants as he catches his breath)

King: Kneel before me, and Junior lives. Fight back, he dies. What will it be, hedgehogs?

The Blind Specter - General Headcanons

Note: It’s no problem, darling! I’m happy to hear you liked the Grim headcanons, and even happier that you requested for the Blind Specter. Hope you enjoy your request! ♤ Both in life and in death, the Blind Specter has always been someone with a penchant for adventure and mischief. His untimely death in early adulthood did little to taint this, so he entered the afterlife overflowing with vigour for playing pranks, spooking others, and generally being what most would consider a nuisance. For a while, this worked out for him. The Phantom Express was positively brimming with a seemingly endless amount of interesting characters, all from different walks of life, who could provide him with the entertainment he so desperately sought.

♡ But, his excitement eventually started to dwindle. After years, perhaps decades, on the train ride that never ends, the Blind Specter grew bored of his afterlife. He found that all those who boarded the train, save for himself, would sooner or later become shadows of their former selves. The monotony of the afterlife did away with whatever passion or spirit they’d previously possessed, leaving them as near-mindless husks, silent and unmoving. And he couldn’t handle that.

♧ It wasn’t long before he began to yearn for something more, for someone to give his afterlife meaning, to give him a reason to keep going and not become a husk like his fellow passengers. But it seemed that no such person existed on the Phantom Express. Every new arrival filled him with hope that he’d found the person he was searching for, only for it to be crushed later on when they eventually joined the others in their dull state. After years of this same maddening routine, he decided he’d had enough. If the excitement he so craved could not be found on the train, then he would simply have to go searching for it in the world of the living. This decision, of course, is what ultimately leads him to meeting his darling.

◇ One would think that after so many years without an adequate companion, his expectations would be practically nonexistent. After all, loneliness eats away at people, be they dead or alive, and most would settle for just about anyone if it meant having some sort of company in their otherwise sombre lives (or afterlives). But the Blind Specter is not like most. He’s desperate for companionship, yes, but there’s at least some traits his darling must possess in order for him to fall: he wants them to be fun, adventurous, and perhaps even spontaneous, like himself, and willing to go out and cause mischief with him if he so desires. He’d also love it if they were compassionate, resilient and patient as well, but he understands he can’t exactly be picky.

♤ He would likely encounter his darling while out and about one day, on the prowl for someone to spook. His lack of sight limits who can catch his attention, so the thing that initially draws him to them is their laugh. The sound of it makes him stop dead in his tracks, and he wonders if what he’s hearing is truly real. Never in his short life, or his many years as a ghost, has he heard a laugh so sweet and lively before. Hearing it fills him with a sense of warmth he didn’t think was possible for him to feel anymore, so he decides it’s only logical that he follow them around for a short while, just so he can figure out how and why they were able to make him feel this way.

♡ Before he knows it, “a short while” quickly turns into the whole day. He just can’t seem to part from them, almost as if their souls are linked, and he doesn’t try to fight this feeling. Instead, he spends the rest of the day trailing behind them, never more than a few feet away as he listens carefully to everything they do. He hears every sound they make, and he’s puzzled to find how happy he is just listening to them. By the time the sun sets and night falls, he doesn’t think twice about following them home, unable to bring himself to leave their side.

♧ And even when they fall asleep, completely unaware of the apparition gently grazing their face so he can feel their warmth, he still refuses to leave. Instead, he takes this moment of calmness to reflect on the day’s events. Somehow, with only their laugh, his darling was able to capture his full attention, and they managed to keep it throughout the day just by being themselves. Their sense of humour, their kindness, their enthusiasm for life - never before has he encountered someone who embodied the word “lively” so well. He’s finally found the person he’s been searching for all this time, and he knows he has to have them.

◇ But there’s a problem: he’s dead while his darling is alive; and if his time as a ghost has taught him anything, it’s that more often than not, the living don’t take kindly to the wandering souls of the deceased. He fears that if he were to show himself, his darling would become frightened and find a way to banish him from their home. There’s also the added issue of his soul being tied to the Phantom Express, and that when it leaves Inkwell, it takes him with it. Though the train does return to the isles quite frequently, its time away can range anywhere from a few weeks to several months.

♤ So, he decides it’d be best to keep his presence a secret for now. He may not like it, but he can’t risk scaring his darling away, so he’ll just have to spend time with them without them realising. As for his other problem, he has no real solution for that one, either. All he can do is put up with it for now, with thoughts and fantasies about his darling being the only thing keeping him sane during the times when he’s forced to be away from them.

♡ When he’s able to visit them, the Blind Specter almost never leaves their side. Not only because they’ve become his only source of happiness, but also because he’s not fond of the idea of sharing them. He’s never considered himself to be the possessive type, but he can’t quell the overwhelming feeling of jealousy that comes over him when his darling is in the presence of others. The time he spends with them is precious, and he refuses to let anyone else have their attention while he’s around, even if he doesn’t have it himself.

♧ If his darling has a partner or even just friends who he believes are a little too close to them, he’ll take it upon himself to drive them away, mainly by haunting them. Making the temperature in the room suddenly drop, misplacing belongings of theirs, appearing behind them as a faint silhouette in mirrors and photos - all of this he does with the intention of either scaring them into leaving Inkwell, or driving them mad with fear. He’s not particularly sadistic, but he does derive some enjoyment from hearing their occasional wails of utter terror at his actions.

◇ Something else he begins doing, once he notices his darling’s growing despair over losing their friends, is getting them gifts in an attempt to cheer them up. Listening in on every conversation they have has given him a pretty good idea of what they like, and he uses that knowledge to his advantage. Though he can’t see the things he brings them, he’s still able to make out what most objects are even with his faint touch, which allows him to pick out little trinkets relating to their interests and leave them as gifts on their doorstep. It’s his way of communicating that they’re not alone, and that they have someone who cares for them.

♤ He also occasionally visits them in their dreams, though he never presents himself as a figure they can clearly make out. A soft humming, a gentle breeze, and a welcoming light in the distance are just a few of the forms he’s taken during his visits, mostly as a way to comfort them whenever they’re having nightmares. Most often, though, he provides them with comfort by caressing their hair or face, and whispering declarations of love in their ear. These actions also allow him to express his affection towards them, something he’s been dying to do since first realising his feelings for them.

♡ But ultimately, it’s not enough. None of it is, not for him. It was for a while at least, but having his darling never acknowledge him, and constantly being ripped away from them, often for months at a time, begins to gnaw at him. He craves a real relationship with them, for them to see him and love him just as he does them. And after years of denying himself this, he reaches his breaking point. There’s no running from it; he has to make a decision, sooner or later, and he’s come to a point where he can’t avoid it any longer. So, reluctantly, and yet, desperately at the same time, he shows himself to them. What follows depends entirely on whether his darling accepts him or not.

♧ If they do, the Blind Specter will be overjoyed. He may even start to cry a bit, despite his lack of tears, due to being so overwhelmed with positive emotions. An endless stream of proclamations of his love for them spills from his lips, and he swears on his soul that he’ll find a way to keep the two of them together. He may not be able to bring them on the Phantom Express with him, as it is only for those who can’t enter Heaven or Hell, but having his darling’s acceptance is all the motivation he needs to search for a different solution to their problem. He’ll find a way, no matter how long it takes; the only thing he needs to keep going is the knowledge that his darling reciprocates his feelings.

◇ However, if they reject him instead, he becomes quiet for a moment, the gears in his head turning. He had hoped against hope that things would turn out differently, but it seems he was right in his assumptions all along. No matter the reason for their rejection, be it because they’re afraid or because they don’t see him in a romantic light, he’ll be heartbroken. Still, after everything that’s happened, he’s not willing to give up on his darling, now or ever. So, with a heavy heart, he apologises to them. Not for what he’s done, but for what he’s about to do.

♤ Before they have a chance to respond, he disappears right before their eyes, and they black out. When they come to shortly after, they feel lighter than air, and their vision is slightly fuzzy, almost as if they’re dreaming. They’re still awake, that much they can tell, but they quickly realise, with sinking horror, that they have no control over their body. And yet, they stand up, not by their own volition, and stare at their reflection in the window, into a pair of glowing yellow eyes in place of their own.

♡ It’s then that a voice echoes through their terrified mind, apologising once again, and they realise that the Blind Specter has possessed them. He explains, in a voice that sends chills down their spine, that he refuses to be without them, whether they like it or not. But everything is okay now, he assures them. Now that his soul is within a living vessel, the Phantom Express can’t take him away anymore, and the two of them can finally be together. He wraps their arms around them with a promise to take good care of them, but his words don’t quite reach them as they begin sobbing, knowing their fate has been sealed.
