Vico Equense is part of the greater Bay of Naples metropolitan area and is a tourist destination. Located on a tuff cliff, it is relatively close to Mt. Vesuvius and the ancient town of Pompeii. The town is bordered by Castellammare di Stabia, Meta and Piano di Sorrento. The Church of the Annunciation was the cathedral of the Diocese of Vico Equense, until 1818. Built in the early 14th century on a clifftop overlooking the sea, it is an example of Gothic architecture, while the facade is in Baroque style. I was told that Paris is magical. I concur! In 2020, I met an exceptional young woman named Mahe, who invited me to her home in Paris. Due to many lockdowns in Europe, I wasn't able to travel and visit her until April of this year. When I arrived, I was greeted by Mahe and her equally exceptional sister, Houda. Houda had cooked a full homemade Tunisian meal that evening. Houda, continued to cook homemade Tunisian meals during my stay. I couldn't believe it! Tunisian cuisine is delicious! The flavor, the spicy, the tea, the pastries... Mamma mia! I was introduced to the rest of Mahe's family. They made me feel so loved and welcomed. I can honestly tell you that in Paris, I became Tunisian-American. 🥰 On my first full day site seeing and visiting Paris, I was surprised by how friendly and helpful Parisians were with me. I said to myself, "What?!?! I thought Parisians don't like 'people from the US'" 😂😅 See! This is why we're not supposed to believe any stereotypes! 😜A very nice elderly lady helped me on the metro. She even grabbed me by the hand and showed me where I needed to get off. So adorable! Another one offered to take my picture in front of the Eiffel Tower without me even asking her! Every single person I approached to ask for directions was kind. I posted my first picture on IG and wrote that I was in Paris. Within hours of that first post, I received a message from my friend Prince. I met Prince in Milan in 2016, while traveling solo through Italy. We have kept in touch since then. Prince lives Bordeaux; but on that day, he was attending a design fair at the Jardin des Tuileries. He wrote: "I can't believe that you're in Paris at the same time that I'm here! Let's meet this afternoon!" Honestly, I couldn't believe it! It is a small world after all! Of course I was going to meet with Prince! I got to see and spent time with my friend after 6 years!
