honestly i’ve gotta give rick riordan credit where credit is due because it is pretty cool how a random generation of like 12-20 year olds is just filled with random unnecessary knowledge about mythology

Camp Nano Update: Final Legacy
Came home to find that my new laptop came. Super happy with it so far, though it’s going to take a bit to get used to the keyboard lol. Anyway, as promised here is an excerpt from what I wrote of Final Legacy for Camp Nano!
Message me or reply to this post if you want to be added to a tag list for Final Legacy!
*****
When I say I hate people, I mean it.
I, like the good child and student I am, go to the library to do some studying to pass exams. When I get there, however, I realize that I won’t be able to study. There is literally no place in the library to study. The library! The place where no one actually goes in all my twelve years of school! Almost the entire student population is in there. Which is insane because there’s roughly three thousand of us!
And guess what they’re all doing? If you think studying is the answer, you’re wrong. Absolutely none of them are studying. They’re all sitting in groups and playing the mobile version of Final Legacy and talking about the ones who are going to be chosen.
“Who’re the top players in our class?” Courtney, one of the twelfth year girls, said. She’s looking down at her tablet and tapping her fingers on it repeatedly while her character fights a horde of Dire Wolves. Her blonde hair covers one of her eyes as it falls down from where it was tucked behind her ear.
“Huh? I don’t know, give me a sec,” Josh, Courtney’s twin brother mumbled and searched for the class rankings in the game.
“It looks like Bruce is the top player right now followed by Amethyst, Tauran, Daunte, and Mikayla.” The other students around them hummed; one or two of them cursed. I don’t blame them. If they wanted to qualify for the tournament, being in the top five ranks is important.
And unfortunately, I’m not in the top five. That means that I have to do a lot of grinding in order to bring my level up.
“What’s Mikayla’s level?” another student, Connor, asked.
Josh hummed. “Well, Bruce maxed his level at three hundred and Mikayla’s level is one hundred ten.”
I’m level one hundred, so if I can raise my level by twelve tonight and continue to raise it by one or two every day, I just may be able to stay in the top five.

I've been inactive oof
I got a part-time job, I guess. I made some decent money. And I finally got a bit to buy a new laptop since my current on sucks.
My parents paid for half and I have to pay for half. So about $300 from my end.
But I think it came in the mail today. When I was leaving my house there was a package from staples outside. I'm not sure if it's my laptop or something else my mom ordered since I can't open it yet, but I really hope it's the laptop.
Camp nano update: I won't be able to meet my goal I had changed it from 1,000 to 10,000 words. But I did get a significant amount of words on Final Legacy. When I get my new laptop I'll post an excerpt.
Hope all of you had an amazing day! Love you all!

The Graveyard Book was soooo good. I don't remember much of it since I read it in 6th grade but I know it was good. I really need to reread it.
Reasons why you should read The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
It has ghosts in it.
It made me weep mightily and then I gave it to @a-marvellous-miscellany for her birthday and she was also moved to tears so that’s 2/2 on the crying factor thus far.
I tend to rate how good a book is on how much it made me cry and this one made me cry quite a bit so would recommend.
Found family with ghosts.
I don’t want to spoil it but there’s this one side-character whose village drowned her as a witch, so despite not really being a witch at that point she cursed them out of spite and they all died of the plague - 100/10.
Graveyard.
Sinister plottings and MURDER.
It’s just like very beautifully written and I like it a lot.
Probably a ‘children’s’ book but really for everyone.
Did I mention that this book has (a) ghosts and is (b) set in a graveyard.
This is one of those books I can read repeatedly and not get tired of.
Do you like ghosts, do you like ghosts which are not scary and in fact adopt small children - then this book is for you.
It’s got adventure, tragedy, vampires.
Mysterious organisations up to no good.
Creepy things which live in the dark.
Very heartwarming but also much crying happened on my part.
It’s won quite a lot of awards.
This has reminded me I need to reread the Graveyard Book.
If you have a kid who likes things which are a little bit scary but not tooooo scary then this would probably be a good book for them.
FOUND FAMILY.

TW: violence
The footsteps are now beside me. I lean my head back and breathe through my nose. If it doesn't hear me, it won't know where I am. It growls, low and threatening. Footstep, growl, more footsteps. It wanders away, then comes right back, squashing my hopes. "I know you're here," it tells me, its voice deep and masculine. "I saw your little backpack and heard your little fall. Come out, come out wherever you are."
Goosebumps rise up on my skin and scalp. The familiar pressure behind my eye starts to build up. My grip on the gun tightens. I have to fight him; he won't go away until I end him. I try to work out a plan. If I can get to the other aisle and make a run for it, I might be at an--
A hand grabs my leg. I scream as the fingers dig into my skin. I sit up and try to aim, but the Maniac yanks me to the ground. My side takes the brunt of the fall. I release a shriek and get up. The Maniac's wild eyes bore into me. A smile stretches his lips unnaturally wide, and blood trickles from his bottom one and onto his white beard. His skin is so pale that I can see his veins; open wounds decorate his exposed chest. He has the appearance of a sick animal, one that should be put out of its misery.
"Hello, little girl," it says.
He's tall and burly. He holds no weapons, but this one could rip me apart with his bare hands. I glance down and see my gun on the floor between us. He doesn't stand a chance against a firearm.
I can get it. I have to get it.
"Don't even think about it."
Adrenaline sets in. I look back up at him. Then I lunge for it.

So, I just changed my phone's language settings to Korean since I'm trying go learn the language. I'm not sure if that was a stupid idea or what. My Korean isn't that good so I don't know what a lot of the settings are now...but I've been feeling more confident in it so maybe this will make it better?

I don't know why, but I low-key want to make a blog for rants. Like just me ranting about things that get me worked up. You know, so I can let off some steam. Idk, maybe that's not a good coping mechanism...I just- I don't know...

Hello, do you have any book recommendations? I'm okay with most genres but my favourite is fantasy. Thank you!!
Absolutely! I adore fantasy as well, so you’re in the right place :)
 For some more recent releases:
- The last book in The Bone Witch series by Rin Chupeco just came out, so if you haven’t read those yet, they’re amazing
- The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon also just came out and its HUGE but also an incredible fantasy read with draGONS
- If you haven’t read Truthwitch by Susan Dennard yet, now is a good time to get into it since Bloodwitch just released as well and its a world where people have magic but it’s such a cool and interesting system
- If you’re into stuff like The Cruel Prince by Holly Black (also great) there’s a much lesser known Australian fae series called Valentine by Jodi McAlister whose final book in the trilogy just came out as well. It’s an awesome series based in Australia, the fae are terrifying, a lot of people die, and the characters deal with their emotions very realisticly (pls read)
- Reign the Earth by A C Gaughen is another fantastic series which features elemental magic. This is one of my favourites because the character deals with being in an abusive relationship in a very healthy way and manages to remove herself from the situation. A bunch of other things go wrong though, of course. The sequel, Imprison the Sky, very recently released and this is a series everyone should hop on, please.
- Ace of Shades by Amanda Foody was a really fun fantasy read with some darker atmospheric tones and another interesting magic system. The second book (King of Fools) comes out in April!
- Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers is slightly older, but the sequel series is starting up with the recent release of Courting Darkness! It’s female assassins and fun times, what more could you need, really.
- City of Brass by S A Chakraborty is another chunky fantasty, but its amazing. The sequel, Kingdom of Copper also recently released, is SO. GOOD. Arab inspired fantasy, with Djinn, magic, and high stakes
A little older but top favourites:
- This list would be nothing without some V E Schwab on it, so highly recommend A Darker Shade of Magic. An intriguing plot, fantastic characters, and an intricate and unique magic system that includes words and four Londons.
- This list also wouldn’t be much without some Jay Kristoff, so if you haven’t picked up Nevernight yet, it’s honestly just so freaking good. The third and final book in the series is (FINALLY!) out this September, so now is the perfect time to get into it!!
- We’ll throw in a little Leigh Bardugo while we’re here. The entire Grishaverse is worth picking up of course, but Six of Crows will always be my favourite.
- One more Arabian inspired fantasy, because why not. An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Thair is such an incredible world /series and if you’re not on this train yet please jump on.
- The Kiss of Deception by Mary E Pearson, and it’s new spin off series, Dance of Theives. They’re just really great, okay? Do the thing.
- The Young Elites by Marie Lu is an anti-hero fantasy where young people have powers and it’s a very underrated series that needs more love.
- Last one for now. Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor. Honestly, if you haven’t read it you don’t know that you’re regretting every second you haven’t read this duology.
A few things that have recently released that I haven’t had a chance to read yet but sound amazing:
- The Ruin of Kings by Jen Lyons
- Ship of Smoke and Steel by Django Wexler
- For a Muse of Fire by Heii Heilig
- Warrior of the Wild by Tricia Levenseller
- The Smoke Thieves by Sally Green
Coming soon so keep an eye out for these!:
- We Hunt the Flame by Hafsah Faizal
- Guardians of Dawn by S Jae Jones- Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim
- Finale by Stephanie Garber (last book in the Caraval series)
- These Divided Shores by Sarah Raasch (sequel to These Rebel Waves)
- Red Scrolls of Magic by Cassandra Clare & Wesley Chu- Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare
- Darkdawn by Jay Kristoff (finale to Nevernight)
- Vow of Theives by Mary E Pearson (Sequel to Dance of Theives)
- King of Fools by Amanda Foody (sequel to Ace of Shades)
- Call Down the Hawk by Maggie Stiefvater (the Ronan trilogy we’ve all been waiting for!)

I updated my blog master post!
Tumblr media
What’s up, my dudes? It’s Lay!
Long story short, I don’t have an easy way to navigate my blog for both my followers (and others) and myself. So, I decided to make a master post! This will have everything from things about me to my wips.
(I’ll make sure to update this regularly. Hopefully…)
Tumblr media
While this blog is mainly for me to gush about my wips and all of my crazy ideas, I also want to allow my followers to get to know me. (Tell me about you guys too!) My personal stuff is all tagged with #silverslife
Just to get things started, my name is Lay Silver. (Though, it’s not my real name, just a pen name. You can call me Lay!) My pronouns are she/her (I’m cis). I’m an ‘01 liner (born on Dec. 4th, the same day as Mr. Worldwide Handsome Kim Seokjin of BTS.) I have just finished my junior year of high school (11th grade) and I’ll be a senior stressing over college apps in the fall oof. When I graduate from high school, I plan on going to university and majoring in creative writing. (I may also double major in Asian studies or something like that because my grandmother is Japanese and I find Asian cultures (more specifically East Asian) fascinating.
I started my writing journey in 6th grade when I had just finished reading The House of Hades by Rick Riordan. So, I started to write fanfictions. (I’m going to make a post about my writing journey, then I’ll link it here once it’s posted.)
Rick Riordan’s books will always be my favorite series’. Since the I have become a part of many fandoms. From books to anime to bands. (I would say I’m a pretty hardcore kpop fan at the moment. I’ve also been getting back into anime and reading books after my like two year slump. I blame school.)
My kpop fandoms are ARMY, Blink, Stay, I’m also in TXT’s fandom. BTS is my ult group. My biases are Jungkook (BTS), Jennie (BP), Hyunjin (SKZ), and Yeonjun (TXT).
My sexual orientation is on the asexual spectrum (I’m pretty sure I’m demisexual, but gray-asexual works too, I think. So, I’ll just say I’m ace-spec.) I’m still trying to figure out my romantic orientation. I know I definitely like guys, however, I’m not sure if my attraction to girls is purely aesthetic or if I would actually date them. So, I guess for my romantic attraction I would say I’m questioning? IDK, I’ll figure it out some time.
Tumblr media
Besides Tumblr, I also have other social media. (I don’t post much on the others quite yet, but one day!) I have other social media for my writing as well as a personal/photography account. My Instagrams are also linked on my blog (desktop version).
Instagram
Writing (I don’t post much here. I just recently deleted all my previous posts, but I hope to do more soon.)
Photography/personal (I post here quite often. All of the photos are my own.)
Email
If any of you want to email me for something (idk what for):

The Seventh Study is technically my main WIP. It’s the project that I have the most written on, at least. Though, I’m planning on putting it to the side for a bit for another wip since publishing a series as your debut novels isn’t the best idea financially.
Anyway, TSS will be a trilogy. It’s a new adult dystopian novel following my main character Avalon. As well as having POV chapters from my characters Carla, Mare, and Jaemin!
I do have a tag for this wip, so if you’re interested in TSS follow the tag #wip: the seventh study
WIP Introduction
Tumblr media
Okay, so, I don’t talk about TLF very often. I’m still working on the wip intro too since I have absolutely no idea where the plot will go. All I have down is that it’s based off of the Lost City of Atlantis and the story takes place mostly in Florida, but also the Bermuda Triangle. There’s the Greek gods, demigods, Atlanteans, some eclectic witches, etc… The main character is going to be bisexual and I think the story might be an LGBTQ+ novel, but I haven’t worked out all the details quite yet.
This wip’s tag is #wip: the legend’s frail
Tumblr media
A Crown of Aces follows an aro-ace (aromantic-asexual) main character. She is a princess and her father, the king, has been assassinated. Now she must become the queen of the kingdom. Only one problem: her father’s advisors are pushing her to have a husband because they don’t think that this insolent girl is capable of ruling the kingdom at eighteen years of age alone. She plans to prove them wrong all while hiring the help of the infamous band of assassins that lurks in the alleyways of the kingdom to find her father’s killer. The assassin she hires is named Altaeus whom soon falls in love with the new queen. He soon realizes that she isn’t looking for romantic love nor a partner. But the two do stay friends. MC wants to make her kingdom a better place for the people living there and with Altaeus’s help as well as friends she makes a long the way, she just may be able to improve the lives of the people in her kingdom.
That’s all I got so far. Since I identify on the asexual spectrum, I thought it would be cool to have an ace oc. I’m not aromantic, though.
The tag is #wip: a crown of aces
Tumblr media
So, LoF is somewhat based off of the anime Sword Art Online. Basically, the main characters. Jennie and Luke, get trapped in their favorite game and the only way to get out is to complete all the quests and beat the game. If they die in the game they don’t die in the real world, though. LoF in the story is an massively multiplayer online role playing game (mmorpg). I’m thinking that the reason they’re in the game is because of a really intense dream one of them has.
I’m still doing a log of world building for this wip since there’s a lot of stuff that has to go into it like mobs, bosses, quest arcs, cast, what roles there are in the game, etc…
Tag #wip: light of faeran
Tumblr media
Finally for my new wip! Final Legacy is similar to LoF in a way. Final Legacy is a full-dive VRMMORPG in the story. It is a dystopian, sci-fi novel (and I suppose fantasy is some aspects). There’s also a lot of world building I still have to do for this wip as well. I need to come up with mobs, bosses, quest arcs, game races like fairy, elf, human, etc…, I also have to come up with the different worlds featured in Final Legacy. This is probably going to be a very in depth novel.
Final Legacy WIP Intro
There is a lot more info about Final Legacy on the WIP Intro. Please check it out if your interested!

Final Legacy Wip Intro
Tumblr media
Here I am finally posting the wip intro for Final Legacy. This is the wip ya girl’s working on at the moment. (I hope you enjoy the mock book cover I made for camp nano. The cover doesn’t really have anything to do with the actual book, but I thought it looked nice.)
So, this is the wip I’m working on for camp nano. My goal is 1000 words since I don’t have much time to write currently because things keep getting in my way smh.
I’ll probably update this a little after it’s posted since it’s also going to be the wip master list.
Genre: Sci-fi | Dystopian | Probably Young Adult
POV: 3rd Person Limited
Setting: Mainly in a school called Lumina Academy, but there are some other schools that are present. So, we’ll see when I actually get to writing it.
Characters:
Septimus Hale | Valerie Cruz (Valkyrie)
Synopsis
Tumblr media
More world building stuff after the cut :)
Final Legacy follows Septimus Hale a kind of emo gamer boy who has no friends oof. He is a tsundere, no lie. He comes from a pretty poor family. So, the tournament and going to university are very important to him. His parents made sure that he understood that before sending him to Lumina Academy.
Valerie Cruz is the female lead (but she’s not really Septimus’s love interest, though there is a little bit of mutual pining, but they won’t ever actually get together, sorry.) Her character’s name in Final Legacy is Valkyrie.
Anyway, Final Legacy (in the book) is a VRMMORPG that the country uses to determine brightest and most resilient of the nation. The game is first introduced to the students of the national academies when they enter their 1st year of school. During their time in school they are to level up their character as well as stay on top of their academics.
The game is a full-dive type of VR where the player is in an induced sleep while their minds explore the worlds of Final Legacy. In the game, any damage done to the character will affect the player in real life. However, the in-game damage done will not kill the player. The only way to hinder the effects is to use healing potions in the game, the only effects that the player will receive is mild exhaustion. The game is best played at night or during breaks.
Children are put in the academies (there are five national academies) when they are around five years old and they will stay at that academy until their twelfth grade year. In that span of time, the students have not seen their parents because they cannot leave the academy. Even during winter and summer breaks, they do not leave the school , but they have no classes or classwork.
The annual scholarship tournament is held nationwide. In the tournament the students with the top five player levels participate from each academy. Only the top three students who do the best during the tournament will receive a scholarship to any one of the national universities.
There is a lot of scary politics behind the tournament. Those who participate in the tournament, but do not make it into the top three are never heard from again. It is like they disappear off the face of the earth.
Eventually, Septimus finds out why when his success is threatened by the other participants.

"or pronounced the same as ‘sh’, as in ‘machine’." Sharon, immortal ferryman of the dead
It had only been a week, thought Hades. One sodding week. And really, wasn’t that just the kicker? He’d had the gall - no, the audacity - to take one whole week off work, and this was what he got in return. Seven days of sunning himself in the Bahamas, trying to take his mind off the constant wails of the dead, and this was the price. A golden tan that would be the envy of Zeus and Aphrodite for weeks to come, and this.
The woman cleared her throat, shifting her weight in the boat so that it rocked on the river Styx in an ominous manner.
“That’ll be one coin, love,” she said, disinterestedly inspecting what looked like a broken gemstone on one of her pink nails.
“Right,” said Hades, “there’s a problem with that. Two, actually.”
The woman sighed, pushing a hand through pristine platinum hair in agitation. “Look, if you don’t have the fee, then - ”
“No, it’s not that,” Hades interrupted. “It’s - look, can I speak to Persephone about this?”
The woman frowned and folded her arms. Her bangles jingled as she did so. “No coin, no voyage across the Styx into the realm of the dead,” she said. “I can call Persephone, but I don’t think she’ll appreciate it, to be honest. She’s got an appointment.”
Hades inhaled, counted to five, and exhaled again. He could see his breath in the cold underground air. “An appointment.”
“Yes,” the woman affirmed, nodding. “Something to do with her husband coming home, wanting to surprise him with some new hairstyle. I hear he’s been basking in warmer climes, left her to do all the housekeeping and then some. It’s all right for some, innit?”
Hades cleared his throat. “Yes, well,” he said, abashed. “He does have quite a busy job, I think. He hasn’t taken time off in about four centuries.”
“I don’t even get a lunch break,” the woman countered, pursing her lips, which, Hades noticed, were painted a rather odd shade of frosted pink. “The dead wait for no man. Or woman. Or sandwich and a little sit down, apparently.”
“That’s terribly unfortunate,” Hades agreed. “But you see, the person who usually does your job - and where is he, by the way? - he doesn’t actually need to eat.”
The woman frowned. “We can’t all be Kate Moss.”
“I don’t even know who that is,” Hades sighed. “But I really do need to speak to Persephone, because I don’t have any money on me at all. I don’t carry change.”
The woman nodded sympathetically. “See,” she said, “I’ve been hassling Persephone to get one of those card machines. Contactless payment, that’s the best thing really, but just a normal credit card thing would be fine. No-one carries cash any more, do they? Not unless they need to scratch off the little bit on a scratch card, and honestly, I think that’s a dying market and all. It’s all online, innit?”
Hades blinked. The woman stared up at him, waiting for an answer to what Hades was only now realising was a genuine question.
“Yes,” he offered meekly, and the woman beamed.
“See, I knew I was onto something,” she said. She gestured towards the front of the boat, which sagged somewhat sadly forwards with the shift in weight. “It could go there, you see? Then, all the people could queue up and it would be a much more efficient process.” She hummed. “I’m wasted as a psychopomp, honestly. Customer service was always my forté. That and nail art.”
Again, the wait. The eager stare. Hades thought about death.
“Yes,” he repeated.
The woman grinned again, apparently delighted. Then, pretending to stealthily look around, she leaned closer to Hades, and began speaking in a stage whisper.
“Look,” she said. “The boss won’t like this much, but what he doesn’t know won’t hurt him, right?”
“Technically correct,” agreed Hades, because it was.
“So,” the woman continued, “I’ll let you across this time, free of charge, on the condition that if you’re ever saved from this realm by one of those do-gooder hero types, you pay the fee twice on your return. Deal?”
“Deal,” said Hades, “although I have to warn you that it’s very unlikely that any hero will ever try and save me.”
“You never know,” the woman said, steering the boat closer to the shore so that Hades could step on board. “We get all sorts rescued from down here. Just two days ago, I managed to stop this pair of teenagers. Trying to keep their love eternal, they said. Bollocks to that, I said. No love is eternal. Just ask my friend Janet, I said; she was married twice. Love of her life, Jason was, until he fucked off to Malaga with bloody Helen, of all people. Pete wasn’t much better. Treated her like a princess, he did, until she lost her job at the insurance agency and - ”
“I think we’re here,” said Hades politely as the boat drew closer towards the shore of the opposite bank, and the woman stopped.
“You’re right,” she said. “We are. Time flies, doesn’t it?”
“In temporally disconnected otherworlds, generally,” Hades said, and stepped out of the boat and straight into Persephone.
“Hello dear,” she said, giving him a peck on the cheek, once she had disentangled her poncho from his kilt. “Did you have a nice time?”
“Your hair is green,” Hades replied, and Persephone grinned, making Hades’ heart flutter like he was an extra in Teen Wolf.
“Do you like it?” she asked.
“I am going to show you exactly how much I like it,” Hades replied, thinking of the tub of cream cheese hidden under his bed, “as soon as you tell me where the Hades Charon has got to.”
“Oh,” said Persephone, frowning. “I gave him the week off. He hasn’t had a day off in four hundred years, you see, so I said he could take that trip to Atlantis that he’s always wanted to take. I didn’t tell him that Google Maps seemed to suggest that he might have a hard time finding a Travel Lodge there, or at least one without an excessively large indoor swimming pool.”
“I love you immeasurably,” said Hades, “but who is this woman?”
“Sharon,” said the woman, doing a dainty little finger wave. “Hiya.”
“Oh,” said Hades. “That name can’t be a coincidence. Are you related to Charon, by any chance? Great niece? Great great great granddaughter? Aunt?”
“I just picked her because I thought it was funny, to be honest,” said Persephone.
“I worked really hard on my CV,” protested Sharon.
“She doesn’t even get lunch breaks,” said Hades.
“I haven’t had a day off in five and a half months,” said Persephone.
“I quit,” said Sharon. "I’m leaving this boat here and I’m going back to the salon. I got a coffee break there, at least. All this psychopomp stuff is doing my nut in.”
With that, she stormed off, leaving a trail of muddy heel prints behind her.
As the sound of her footsteps quietened down, Hades and Persephone looked at the empty boat, bobbing morosely on the velvet waters of the Styx. Devoid of the dead or the living, it really did just look like a normal boat; wooden slats for seats, a woodworm rotted prow, one oar missing. It hardly screamed ‘vessel of the dead’.
At least, not yet.
“We should get a card machine,” said Hades.
“Oh my god, I know, right?” said Persephone.

Okay, so I may try and do camp nano. I've never done it before so I figured why not? I probably won't be able to make it very far in word count but we'll see.
I’ve been kinda MIA for a bit. I know I promised to build up my queue so that I could post more, but honestly life has been in the way.
So many things keep coming up every time I plan to write something…
So I apologize for not posting. I just really wish I had some time to write and that things would stop coming up.
I miss writing… :(

Seven Easy Ways to Increase Engagement
Several times a week, writeblrs will pop into my asks or DMs because they’re struggling to get others to engage with their work. I know there are a lot of advice posts for writeblrs floating around our community already, but nevertheless, I wanted to list off the top seven (non-comprehensive) tips and tricks I most frequently recommend in one place. Here we go:
Engage with others first. That’s right. Go sift through the #writeblr tag on tumblr and reblog other people’s work. Better yet? Leave reviews! Don’t expect others to engage with you if you aren’t engaging with them. (Not sure where to start? Check out my review & reblog tag for examples.)
Use the right tags. Tumblr only indexes the first five tags on original posts (reblog tags don’t index), so use them wisely. A few community tags that many tend to follow are #writeblr, #writers on tumblr, #original writing, #writing community, and #new writeblr. There are many others!
Include visuals. Though we’re here all here for the writing, visuals (e.g. moodboards, graphics, gifsets, aesthetics, art) can help grab interest. (Here are some of mine for example.)
Strategically schedule reblogs. People live in different time zones, and sometimes tags don’t work. It’s perfectly reasonable to reblog your own work at regular intervals to make sure those who want to engage have the chance to do so. I’d advise using a unique reblog tag that folks can blacklist, though.
Create a tag list post. This way, you’ll have a list of writeblrs to tag in your original content posts… But remember, don’t tag anyone unless they’ve either asked you directly or interacted with your tag list post. (Need formatting help? As an example, I use this one for my novels.)
Share often. How often will vary from person-to-person, but I’ve found that my sweet spot is at least 1-2 original content posts per week. This ensures that other writeblrs have regular exposure to your work.
Make your work easy to explore. A well-organized WIP page and WIP-specific tagging system go a long way. It also helps to have a table of contents for each work. (For example, here’s one of my WIP pages and the accompanying table of contents for said work.)
…That’s it; that’s all! (Easy, huh?)
With Love, Mina
DISCLAIMER: I don’t claim to be an expert on any of this; however, I’ve been part of the writeblr community for just about 4 months now and tbh? I’ve been very blessed with the level of interaction I’ve received with my original content, and the aforementioned tips and tricks are the ones I use myself.
