Unpopular (?) opinion:
When I was young and wondering why I hadn't experienced a crush yet, the internet said I was probably just a late bloomer. They urged me not to identify as aroace because I could change my mind later on.
And looking back, like… so?
If I had been a late bloomer, who cares?
I was 13. I felt comfort in the aroace community. I didn’t feel like a weirdo for once in my life, surrounded by people who were like me. But I was urged to not join these communities until I became an adult in case I changed my mind about being ace. So I didn’t. And I paid for that.
Who cares? If you’re young and feel like you’re aroace, then you’re aroace. If you “change your mind” later, it’s okay. No one is going to be born and know themselves 100%. I genuinely thought I was alloromantic once, but now know I’m not.
Speaking from experience, I would rather have kids be “wrong” about their sexuality than feel like they have no place of belonging.
We shouldn’t gatekeep aroace folk because of their age. It hurts. It makes kids feel like they are the freaks society tells them they are.

My observations from the Good Omens fandom:
Fanart and fics that are from the time before the TV series (1990 - 2019): Az & Co love each other deeply and there are no labels. Their love is very chaste and they usually kiss only. Ace vibes.
Fanart and fics after GO S1 (2019 - 2023): Aziraphale is a babe, a softie, and Crowley is the strong protector. The only fanart where Crowley is the one holding Aziraphale in his arms is from this time period. Fics are often explicit, but it’s very balanced between top Crowley and Top Aziraphale. There is a lot of play with different genitalia, but the main focus is still the strong, intense, unbreakable bond between the two, which defies all human relationship labels.
Fanart and fics after GO S2 (Aug. 2023 - present): Crowley is the soft, whiny baby who needs protection. Most fanart depicts Aziraphale as the strong protector and Crowley as the fragile girlfriend behind him. Crowley is very often depicted with black nail polish & long hair, more feminine character traits, unless both characters are female. Most fics are explicit, and Aziraphale is dominating Crowley, Crowley is desperately looking for approval or being a total brat and making Aziraphale’s life a living hell after the final fifteen, pouting and being angry/resentful. The main focus in the fics in now the sex and sexual pleasure. Now there is also a lot more exploration of different AUs and incarnations e.g. Crowley is very often a snake, they are drawn as robots or mouse & rat, AUs for coffee shops, gardeners, priests etc.
I am not judging this trend in any way, but I personally prefer the depictions and interpretations during the S1 era, because they feel the most true to the source material of the TV show for me. I wonder if after S3 it will diverge even further or if it will circle back.

uh, I don't know if crowley and aziraphale know of this popular human custom... um, hugging, I believe – but I think they'd like it a lot actually 🥺
but honestly the fact we never saw them hugging, not even once (yet!!... I hope)... a crime, really 😔

I want to point out that Aziraphale tries to stay. His first response to the Metatron's offer is, "I don't want to go back to Heaven."
Tumblr media
I feel like people think he's going into this somewhat enthusiastically, but that's just not true. You can see the weight of his actions on his face, especially on the elevator at the end. He's not as ignorant or naive as people think. He's just in too deep.
He tries to say he doesn't want to go. That he's made a mistake (right before they leave, he says, "I think I--"), but he cuts himself off. I think this is because of two reasons.
Tumblr media
Aziraphale is too scared to say no to an angel who outranks him (both because of who he's talking to, and his overall behavior when talking with other angels). Speaking to the Metatron is literally tantamount to speaking to God. Aziraphale is fully aware of this. He doesn't want to say no. Both out of fear, and because now, he has to save the world again.
He has it in his head that he has to fix Heaven. Not for the world, the other angels, or even for himself, but for Crowley. Even though Crowley said no and rejected him, Aziraphale doesn't know the real reason. He probably thinks that if things change, Crowley will be willing to join him again. But it isn't Heaven or Crowley that really stops Crowley from joining him. It's what already happened. Coming back to Heaven wouldn't erase God's mistake. It would only cover it up. This is what Aziraphale needs to learn. As well as the story of Crowley's fall and what it truly did to him.
But I don't think he really wanted to go. I think he knows exactly what this means, and I think the implications will be very interesting to see when season 3 comes out.

ok, since everyone is hopping on the good omens ineffable sex scene discourse…
it seems like everyone is divided between To Sex or Not To Sex, but we’re only thinking of it as the sex we know, but we need to consider the possibility of their occult/ethereal sex being beyond horny human comprehension.
imagine, aziraphale brings crowley up to the barely used bedroom. cobwebs. dust on the rococo eiderdown duvet puffs into the air when they sit on top of it. they stare at each other with heated gazes before they bring their foreheads together and their eyes go blank. cut to the fourth dimension where their essences/platonic forms play an intergalactic match of Pong. there are sounds of crashing waves somewhere, and the great ticking of grandfather clocks. nebulae implode, and a piece of toast finally pops up, burnt to perfection. it’s over.
then we go back to crowley and aziraphale. they’re still touching foreheads, fully clothed, like nothing ever happened. well, aziraphale looks fine. crowley’s head is blackened with ash (he lost).

Question for the great Neil Gaiman:
Are Aziraphale and Crowley asexual? Or at least most of the angels/demons?
I keep seeing people sexualizing them and it weirds me out because I kind of just projected asexuality on them but I wanted to know if it was canon.
Canon is whatever you see on the screen. Anything else is headcanon.

I haven't read it, you're right! But I see they've translated it to italian so I can borrow it from the library. I'm curious to see how they translated the pronouns (in italian we only have he/she pronouns, we have a sort of gender neutral pronoun too but it's sort of made up for now)
You know what actually fuck off. Aziraphale and Crowley are canonically asexual so actually shut up about them fucking. “but people should be allowed to headcanon-“ NO. Two of the only canonical asexual characters should be respected, you guys get literally every other character. You wouldn’t take a canonically gay character and not shut up about them having straight sex, so shut up and let the aces have this one instance of representation actually.

I think about the fact that Crowley and Aziraphale both desperately want to be together but the reason why they can't is because of the way they want to go about doing it.
Crowley wants to run to a safe place because he knows heaven and hell are toxic and will ruin them if they continue to stay near.
But Aziraphale wants to *create* the safe place where they can be comfortable without ever having to worry about danger (for Crowley; Aziraphale isn't aware of Heaven's malice towards him).
Because nothing lasts forever, the peace Crowley wants to burrow into won't last and Aziraphale knows it. And the very thing Crowley and Aziraphale gave life to together, and watched for 6000 years will perish if no one steps up to protect it.
I'm just gutted by the two of them... How can they love each other so much and still break up before they can even get together.......

I get what you're saying but tbh one of the point of Good Omens is that Aziraphale and Crowley love living like humans and do many things as if they were humans, so I don't see them completely inhuman... I think there's a difference between them and an asexual robot who doesn't do or feelanything human.
They are actually reletable on so many levels, and they resonate well with many people in the ace community.
If you want a human ace in a series there's Todd Chavez from Bojack Horseman by the way :D
