As summer approaches I remember how I wanted to see a fanfiction/fanart of Severus and Lily being Camp Counselors at a summer camp (because I was a camp counselor so my ideas were running.)
My specific idea was this happening at the summer after 5th year, meaning after the worst memory.
Also Severus is barley handling the kids, and yet they like him the most - because it makes them laugh how much he struggles.
Lily finds it adorable because she never thought he'd manage younger kids (and he doesn't) (and she's a bit jealous cus she wanted to be the favorite counselor).
Only reason Severus didn't quit the first day was because of a single word og endorsement from Lily's side.

Severus being born in 1960, Lockhart in 1964.
Severus' worst memory - June, 1976 - Lockhart's first year.
Severus becoming a teacher on September of 1981 - Lockhart is in his 7th year.
The new students are weary of the dungeon bat and Lockhart just going "this goth potions nerd? I remember when *yada yada talk about his humiliation in the worst memory with how the rumors described it*"
Needless to say when Severus found out he made Lockhart's last year a living hell.
Needless to say Severus was very close to off Dumbledore when he gave Lockhart the DADA position.

Severus is the Slytherin-Skittles' babysitter.
Well not actual babysitter, but becoming a big-brother figure to Regulus after Sirius ran away - connections are happening quick and Severus finds himself trying to keep the idiots alive.
...Just to end up out-living every one of them.
First Reg went off, Dorcas right after him.
Then he thought Barty kicked the bucket in Azkaban.
"Last one" for a few years was Pandora, right after he asked her to be careful with her experiments.
And then he met Barty again, thinking that he would go to Azkaban again, but knowing his alive - untill he saw the dementor sucking his soul out of him right before his eyes white escorting Fudge with McGonagall.

Severus caught a glimpse of him right before James pulled him back.
Honestly James would not have let Severus go away knowing what he saw before seeing Dumbledore, and Severus absolutely refused to go with him.
