I've never resonated with a song more than this one. I was in a controlling, mentally abusive relationship for 2 years. Once I escaped, I had all of the same realizations that were brought up in this song.
It's insane that a single person can have the capability to literally suck the life and joy out of a girl who loves everything. Then proceed to tell her that she's the best thing that's ever happened to them. Then again, proceed to tell her that if she ever left, they'd harm themselves.
And as soon as she leaves, try to get with one of her best friends.
I didn't care anymore at that point anyways, but don't fucking touch my friends, don't harm them the way you did me.
If anyone reading this is in (or has been in) a similar situation, just remember that you really truly are not alone. Please use your voice, please talk to people about it. You are not crazy, you are not selfish, you are not tied to this person, you can get out of it and you deserve SOOOOOO much better.
