Starting the Day I’m not a fan of resolutions. The perception of them and what they symbolize, I can do without. They’re extremely limiting, and very black and white. Humans are not black and white in how we go about our lives. So resolutions? No thank you. However, spiritually-speaking the turning of the calendar is a time for renewal. We can change the things we want and leave the same that which works for each of us. Making changes and adjustments allows for us to be nicer to ourselves, not so hard and unforgiving on ourselves. And ultimately, I think we’re happier for living in a state of change rather than defining the state of a new year in ridged, black and white terms. . . #newyear #goals #selfcare #bekindtoyourself #bekinder #photography #artistic #photographicart #tea #lipstick #starttheday https://www.instagram.com/p/CnIDKxmPtUJ/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Happy #wintersolstice! Celebrated by decorating a couple of my mom’s trees outdoors with things for animals to eat. Sharing abundance. I think it’s a nice way to celebrate #yule. Thank you, @amie.l.davis for helping! https://www.instagram.com/p/CmchRMQPL5u/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Airline Rationale 102
If you like playing Risk--and you're good at it--you might do well with an airline. It's all strategy. It's all territorial. All of it.

Your Boss's Coffee
Mass canned and made with unfiltered water. Extra bitter from all that extra acid. Because being doused in negative repressive acid isn't enough. Take some French Vanilla with that. It's your sanity, your sense of humor. It's that Dilbert comic that seems to have been created with just you in mind. Stir that French Vanilla in. Sip, inhale, hold, swallow. Which are you savoring? The coffee or the French Vanilla? This is why you break free by swinging through a Dunkin Donuts. Because it's your own teeny coffee rebellion. With Hazelnut.

Airline Rationale 101
Someone asked me what the rationale was behind creating an airline. I paused. Then said "After studying the history of commercial aviation, I don't think there's ever been any rationale behind creating an airline."

Coffee Hero
Rolling over, the first thing I smell is your skin. I’m only a quarter of the way awake, but I can still feel you run your fingers through my hair, cradle my head before you kiss my forehead. A light tug on my hair so you can kiss my lips. I’m slightly more than a quarter of the way awake. Eyes still closed, I feel you toss the covers back. Cool air rushes in filling the warm space you held next to me. Your footsteps crossing the flat. Then a new sound, louder, harsher. Metal scraping metal. It’s the camp fire coffee pot we use to heat water on the stove. Now water, rushing in filling the cold empty place in that giant pot. More metal scraping metal and the clicking of the ignitor on the gas stove. Plastic turning on plastic as you open the coffee jar and clanging metal on ceramic. Finally water rumbling before spilling into the mugs I know you got out. I’m coming up on a third of the way awake. And then. The aroma second only to your skin. Sitting on the bed you brush my bangs off my forehead. Finally I sit up, blinking like a sleepy owl. But I can still see the twinkle in your eyes and I know you’re chuckling in your head. Carefully now—don’t spill—you place the mug in my hands. One deep inhale. One slow, small sip. Another kiss before your arm slides around me. I’m completely awake now.

I don’t know if it’s because I’ve only had 8 hours of sleep in 2 days and haven’t mainlined enough coffee, or if it really is that company’s new video marketing, but those videos are confounding my brain.

Pets & Their Humans. Hairy Legs & Anemia
A lady walked into the vet with her dog. His fur was short and tufty, matching his human mom’s unshaved legs.
I looked at my cat. He and I were both anemic. I scratched his ears and he licked my hand. Likenesses are more than skin deep.

Coffee on the Beach
I don't need big, bombastic moments of romance (which are probably more taxing than results-yielding). I need the simple little moments. Let's runaway and have coffee on the beach. We'll watch the sun crest the waves, fingers curled around mugs and just leaning on each other. That is a little romantic moment. And all it cost was a cup of coffee.
