Lois Lane has always been unhinged, that's what makes her great. Y'all are like 'give me a weirdo woman, give me a real freak", then a piece of media accurately portrays a CLASSIC weirdo and y'all call her toxic or whatever. It's called being dedicated to finding the truth and having no chill. i do really love the idea of Time Shenanigans leading to ~13-year-old Damian meeting all former Robins at the same age, because every single one of them is just the exact opposite of what he’d expect.
Dick, who Damian expects to be the cool nice supportive one, at thirteen is fucking furious at the idea that there are any Robins after him. Stephanie, far from the perky optimist he knows, is a hardcore cynic who thinks Batman is super cool and hasn’t even become a vigilante yet. Jason, who has previously interacted with Damian mostly via bullets, is a sweetheart who’s exceptionally insecure at the idea of Bruce getting another Robin.
And meanwhile Tim at thirteen is like “oh you’re the next Robin? Heck yeah, that’s awesome, glad it worked out.”

Where do people get this idea that Ollie is a predator? Some rando on Tumblr or Twitter made a bad post and then the whole fandom decided to accept it? I am really confused about where it comes from.

ok, so i do know where it comes from b/c i saw it happen in real time, and honestly? you're not far off? there was a vocal group of posters w a lot of ~clout~ on comics social media who. straight up made shit up about ollie. like, i remember a post from 2016, 2017 by a v big blogger on here that said ollie met dinah when she was 16 & he was in his 40s - like. just flat out lying!? i think it v much had to do w the culture here at the time - fandom tended to grasp for ethical justifications for why they disliked a character or piece of media, rather than just. not liking them b/c they didn't like them.
and it was v, shall we say, interesting which characters this affected + which it did not. the standard was not at all equal: if you were a fan of ollie or hal then it was immediate cancellation - but bruces abuse? we ignore that. and female characters, well they're not human capable of harm, we all know that! if they did canonically cause harm, it was just bad writing, obvs. …was v much the vibe at the time, & representative of a broader culture of r*dfemism normalised on this site especially.
these are the usual "receipts" people pulled (and apparently still do, if the last round of discourse is any indicator):
→ ollie & marianne; this is based on willful misremembering of canon, marianne was not a teenager at the time shit happened w ollie and he wasn't consenting. it was never a relationship, just a one-off incident. more on the situation here.

…where dinah - based on absolutely nothing - implies that ollie took a 15-year-old mia in b/c he was sleeping w her? but rather than (rightly) going "what the actual fuck dinah" people who read this in bad faith / w preconceived notions about ollie take her at her word - yes, in spite of roy rebutting her and confirming that marianne was not a teenager in the v next panel!
like i hope i don't need to get into how fucked up it is for her to say so about an actual csa survivor whose abuser was her biological father - like - to imply that that's the nature of her relationship w her adoptive father as well is just - what the fuck, dinah. i don't think ollie would've agreed to get back together if he'd heard her, honestly.

which i. still don't understand how it can be read as proving the point, ollie is clearly depicted as backing off when he realises babs is a teen, you know - what you're supposed to do when you misread someone's age? like. this isn't even a bad faith reading, it's just. not reading at all.
(note also that we see this go down from babs' pov, not ollie's, & she's relaying it to dinah, in order to convince dinah not to marry him. she v much has an agenda, is what i'm saying, & whether or not shes telling the truth is up for interpretation imo.)

yet again, one single line based off of nothing - no textual evidence of ollie actually in-text doing anything - and w so little context (i'd know, i went & read it) that it could be interpreted in a million different ways - i like @aliensimping's read personally - that this is hal making fun of his vitriolic best friend in the privacy of his own thoughts.
you cannot do functional literary analysis by taking every character at their word. what occurred textually matters more ollie being accused of doing something is not the same as ollie actually having done it.
that's how the concept of unreliable narrators can exist, people.

which non-ga fans just lack context for ig, this is just how ollie always greets women of any age, artists use it to evoke that "chivalrous robin hood" image that goes w his aesthetic. here are a few examples:

→ the fact that dinah says she's 19 years old in jla: year one. first of all, the canonicity of jla: year one in general is highly debated ‒ it's one of the retconned continuities that happened after infinite crisis, which a lot of later writers (& i do still mean pre-flashpoint), ignore altogether. think jason's story in nightwing: year one, as an example. no one goes w it, preferring the original canon. (grant morrison, rather infamously, even went further back than the post crisis version to redhead jason.)
second of all, ollie and dinah met during jla: year one, they didn't start dating in it. ollie rarely shows up in the book at all, in fact, and dinah's main romances in it are actually w hal and barry.
like, believe me, i have read all of ollie's appearances three times over, and i'm currently on my fourth ‒ there is no teenager, there has never been a teenager, and god willing there never fucking will be. 🧿
i've said it before, i'll say it again ‒ this discussion will never be a good faith or productive one until we stop pointing our fingers at individual characters rather than at what is clearly a problematic pattern at dc.
bruce/talia, babs/dick (or, heck - p much every older woman dick has ever met, including dinah and selina), dinah/ray - all questionable age gaps. even for the ones that we now consider unanimously p*dophilic (hal/arisia, slade/tara), if you read the original stories - you'll find they v much read as normalised, like the writers aren't even self-aware.
if you want to have a conversation about that, about what it says that the cisheteropatriarchal society these writers were raised in ‒ & often privileged by ‒ breeds these types of stories, or, about how it reflects the state of child rights / the american nuclear family… i'm with you.
but. if you're just trying to one-up fans of a character who is notably a break from this problematic pattern as i hope ive demonstrated here, then i'm sorry, but you and your high horse can fuck right off.
