I’m not an aesthetically pleasing person. I’m very messy and things get discombobulated very easily when I do my daily tasks. So sometimes when I look at the pretty aesthetic photos on here I feel a bad. I feel bad that my walls aren’t white, that my desk isn’t always neat, that I don’t have aesthetic cups and notebooks and that I don’t have pretty handwriting. But it doesn’t mean that I don’t get things done. I just get things done in a messy way and that shouldn’t be something I feel bad about. I think a lot more people on here should post the realities of their spaces so that we can all relish in the fact that being human means being messy and then we can go back to the aesthetics. The past two weeks have been low for me but I’m still doing things and that’s better than nothing. Let’s be messy and get shit done anyways.

Where I’ll be this weekend

Back to it this morning, and I’m actually kind of looking forward to getting stuck into some writing and editing. This easy relief and comfortableness with my day-to-day mundanity is really welcome. 

January 4th, 2023

I woke up not feeling motivated. Yesterday felt like a really low day for me and it carried over to this morning. After journaling some of my feelings I worked on my to-do list for the day. I accomplished most of it albeit felt like half-assed but I’m proud that I did things anyways. The end of the night also feels low, but I’m going to go downstairs and eat a little before it gets too late into the night and hopefully it will make me feel better. I finished my monthly goal for Spanish so I have to reassess tomorrow and figure out my pace and review times. Tomorrow’s biggest goal is to get back into coding, it seems daunting to me right now because it takes so much more brain power than anything I’ve learned but when I do get it done and understand it feels so fulfilling.

I cleaned up my personal hard drive and found photos I loved. They’re so simple but remind me so much of the times when I took them and what my life was like then. Maybe I’ll also get back into photography this year…

Being unemployed means I have a lot of time on my hands. Some habits/tasks I’m tracking to keep me productive are apply to jobs, learn spanish, code and read. Something else that I do is give myself breaks so I’m not just sitting at my desk all day. My breaks lately consists of playing Stardew Valley. I’ve been playing this since 2020 when the pandemic was at its peak and Animal Crossing was all the rage. I didn’t have the money to buy a $60 game so I looked up similar games and Stardew Valley was a cheaper option. I have been playing religiously since then. I have so many save files spread across my phone, iPad, Switch console and computer. It’s honestly such a great game because you can decide to do so many things like farming, mining, fishing, designing and reaching end game perfection or just only focus on one thing. This has been my reprieve during the stressful times in my life and I’m glad that it was ever made. I wanna start a co-op one day so I can be a part of the community rather than just playing alone but I only have my Switch as a reliable gaming system right now so that may be hard.

I filmed a small glimpse into my daily tasks today that I’ll post sometime this week when I get time because I want to start getting into editing again.

My "Why?"

2022 was a year unlike any other for me. This year I found something close to love and lost it. I found something close to the dream job and decided to leave it. I found something close to the life I thought I wanted and pulled myself out of it. Which is why I'm starting new and learning more than I have been the past year and even the past 3 years after graduating college in 2019.

My "Why?" is I want to be a different person. I don't want to be the person who just sits idly by and lets life happen to her. I want to be able to experience new things and build my skills. At the end of this year I want to look different, think different but mostly feel different. I have been my biggest critic and hardest foe, but this year I want to be my own best friend because I think that if I can be my biggest fan I will be able to have the confidence to do whatever it is I put my mind to without needing other people's validation.

I'm scared of what's to come. I'm scared that I'm currently unemployed with debts and loans to worry about. I'm scared that I can be so hopeful right now for the future but be hopeless about it tomorrow. I am also excited. I am excited because despite what's happened this year I have a great family and friend group that held my hand throughout all of the things that were thrown at me this past year. And last but not least, I have me.

January 1st, 2023

Today I was able to conquer the first chapter of Easy Spanish Step-by-Step. I debated on whether or not to create another notebook just for vocabulary words but decided against it so that everything is just in one notebook. I also started rewriting my coding notes just to review before I jump back in to the actual coding work. I made my planner set up last night, I’m keeping everything as simple as possible because I’m just not a pretty bujo type of gal, it eventually makes me feel demotivated to keep up. My motto for studying at the moment is K.I.S.S. KEEP IT SIMPLE and STUPID. When I try to do too much and too fast I tend to crash and the goal is to be consistent this year. I would rate today 5/5 for being able to check off things on my to-do list. I can’t wait to continue again tomorrow.
